Take this class. She is a GREAT professor. I learned the most I have thus far at FIT. Her assignments are challenging but fun and you really learn a lot. She was always willing to help whoever had questions.

She is a great professor. The class was a lot of work but you also learn a ton ! It gives realistic insight into the fashion industry and the world of buying.

Great class, I learned more about Buying than any other at FIT. Professor expects students to be on time, which can be annoying. ( I take the train)

I know its part of the course calendar but Prof. Geib puts together a great workshop. . Seems like being a buyer can be really challenging but fun at the same time. I know I didn't put "buying" as my first 3 choices but I think I am open to buying now hehe. I am really enjoying this class. !!

Professor Geib is an excellent choice for FM221! She is very knowledgable about the subject matter as she has many years of buying experience. I learned more in this class than in any other class at FIT. Her teaching methods are very effective & definitely heightened my interest in becoming a buyer! Work hard & you will get a lot out of this class!

If you have any interest in Buying, this class is a must, and what makes this class interesting and challenging(in a good way)is Prof. Gieb. She knows her stuff and teaches in a very hands on way. There is no textbook mug-up here, rather practicle projects that throw you in positions actual buyers would find themselves in. MY FAVORITE CLASS!

She definitely picks favorites and her voice is so loud everything she says sounds like she's yelling. Overall she's a great teacher when it comes down to class and teaching, but if she doesn't like you - you won't do well. Her tests are really easy, assignments are too. Pretty easy going class, that is if she likes you!

Being she isn't usually an intro teacher, she did a pretty good job at it. I heard she was rude to other students but she was never to me so just be nice and show interest and you'll be fine

I absolutely love Prof. Geib. At first I didn't know what to think of her but as the semester continued I grew to think of her as one of my favorite profs at FIT. She is always there to help if you EVER need anything and I also never missed her class. She also has great connections if you would like to really be a buyer! Nice lady.

I took her class twice and absolutely think her classes were most helpful. Her abundant experience and knowledge will train you to become a buyer/planner. And I disagree with the comment on Asian students. I was an international Asian student and never felt that she unfairly treated me at all. I think it is all about how much you are eager to learn

fantastic teacher! her projects were time consuming but gave real world experience when it came to buying. Midterm and final were a bit difficult but if you work hard and participate its a great class for FMM

Professor Geib was one of the best teachers I encountered while attending FIT. She helped to bring the real world into the classroom, by providing experiences that a textbook cannot always provide. In addition to being a great teacher, she was a mentor to me while going through interviews with a number of retailers. A+ professor

Professor Geib is one of those teachers who truly wants her students to grow and find success in the working world. Her teaching styles are far from the normal boring lectures. She incorporates fun, yet challenging hands-on projects that prep you for future positions. They have already proven to be extremely beneficial for me in this industry!

Professor Geib is an amazing teacher that will help prepare you for the real world. Buying Workship FM221 is NECESSARY if you want to be a buyer/planner. It was extremely helpful with mock buying projects and you are even able to participate in a day in industry. You will be able to utilize the skills learned in this class for jobs and internship

Geib is the best! She wants you to do your best and get to know the industry. She is full of life and I can not wait to get her again. Textbook is used a lot and tests need to be studied for. It makes a difference if you attend class or not; she'll boost your grade. I cant wait to get her again! TAKE HER

I enjoyed class, she took the class on a field trip and was able to relate class to the industry where she worked. She was very helpful and the projects were fun and if you work hard can get an a on them! The tests were a little difficult definitely need to study from the book, power points and notes took during class, but definitely take her

I have heard how great this professor is, but taking her online section is something I would not recommend. I only say so because I can tell this is the type of professor you want to hear lectures from in person. Online, you will walk away (or stay on your couch i guess..) having learned a lot, but i think the section in person would be better.

Awesome professor! So helpful and has tons of industry experience. Really tries to make the class fun; I heard stories of the other 225's term projects that seemed so boring and tedious compared to ours. Also went on a field trip to RL which was a great experience.

I took this class for winterim online ,you can just breeze through it was alot of work .Projects are due every 4 days and do 1 discussion a week but as long as you have time management youll be totally fine & will learn ALOT. Professor Geib is GREAT with answering questions since it is an online course overall i recommend taking the class online.

Prof. Geib has substantial industry experience so her course material will definitely provide you with the essentials to succeed in merchandising. A lot of hands-on projects and you will be thankful for all that. Her term project helped me get my current job. I presented it to my employer and they were absolutely impressed. MUST TAKE!!!

This course is tightly packed with mostly group work and projects, but I learned so much. I think the midterm should have been online and sooner to allow for more time to do the term project and final exam. But this course was totally rewarding course and what I came to FIT to do and learn. It's not easy and there's a ton of work but it's worth it.

I took Prof. Geib's online course and I must say that I was extremely impressed by her ability to make it feel like it was in a classroom setting. She commented on all of my projects with suggestions or just motivational words. My last online Prof barely gave any words of advice so this was really a breath of fresh air. A lot of work so be ready!

TAKE THIS CLASS.You will NOT regret it.Prof Geib is EXTREMElY helpful & knowledgeable.This class is heavily project based (each project builds upon the previous) but it really opened my eyes to the industry.I now have 2 projects that I can take on interviews post graduation.You are also exposed to industry (actual visit to a showroom). GREAT CLASS!

Consider yourself lucky if you have her as a professor. It was certainly challenging but your exposed to lots of industry experience as well as projects. I now have 2 great projects I can bring to interviews. Just do the work and her class is enjoyable!

Wonderful professor, she is extremely knowledgable and opens up to show you what really goes down in the industry. She takes the class on little trips to showrooms and other places. You will definately learn a lot from her. Just consistently do your work and projects.

It’s the closest thing to real market experience. I never worked so hard. Intense pressure; incredible results. Highly recommended, if you’re ready to work!

Prof.Geib is the MOST HELPFUL and INFORMATIVE teacher I've ever had at FIT. She may be tough at first but it is only to better yourself in the future of buying and planning! You will have fun and learn at the same time! She is real and will break it down for you until you get it! she is fair with grades also.Trust me,you will want her as your prof!

I really learned SO much in Prof Geib's class last semester, it tied a lot of loose ends from what I've learned in other classes and has made me confident in my merch. math skills. She is a tough grader in some aspects but I am really glad that she pushed me to produce my very best work. I think too many teachers let us slide with average work!

Prof. Geib is hands down the best professor I've had at FIT. What she teaches connects the material from all other FMM courses. No, she doesn't give away A's, which makes getting an A in her class that much more rewarding. She helps her students with job placements and internships even AFTER they finish her course. You're lucky if she's your prof!

This course was challenging but worth the while. I've learned so much that has prepared me for real life situations in Merchandising. It does require a lot of work, and an A solely depends on you. However, she is VERY HELPFUL,especially with job placement and knowledgeable about the industry. She is a great mentor one could learn a lot from.

For Merchandising Strategies she follows her syllabus very well. Only assigns homework the first 5 weeks of class, the rest is dedicated to your group project. Always tries to help students gain internships and or jobs. Lovely professor, wish FIT had more like her!

If you want easy A, don't take her. If you want to learn, take her, no second thoughts needed.

Professor Geib is one of the best! She was a buyer for Macy's swimwear and had several other buying jobs. She takes you on the best field trips (showrooms, museums, market, etc.) and has a lot to share about the fashion industry. Her class is easy, but the workload is a lot more compared to your other classes as a freshman FBM major.

Professor Geib is amazing! She doesn't like to lecture so most of the class is projects and they are time consuming and hard, but most are group projects and you learn SOO much from them! The book is necessary, but I didn't use it much. Tough grader though. She cares about her students and love to give feedback and help with internships! TAKE HER!

Great teacher and person. Head of the merchandising society. Class is fun and interesting. Most likely the easiest class you'll take your first year. There are a few papers but they're on interesting subjects. However book is very long and theres lots of information to cover so pay attention. Makes her own midterm.

Professor Geib has an amazing, bubbly personality! The class was interesting and enjoyable, but she does expect you to read each week (textbook is amazing, "The Dynamics of Fashion"). We took a trip to a NYC showroom, and she gave lots of wonderful advice as to being a star FIT student, along with her industry experience of being a swimsuit buyer.

This class was an interesting survey course for the fashion industry in general. She not only lectures, but gives really advice that will actually help you in the industry. She does use the full 3 hour period for lectures. The material is nothing hard and is all from the textbook and her powerpoints. A few short but fun essay assignments.

I took this class because I wanted to learn and that is exactly what I did! She is AMAZING and knows her stuff. She has a lot of connections and took us on a field trip. Not a crazy amount of work, but expect to behind on chapters in the class. If you can take her, TAKE HER!!!

Professor Geib was a probably one of the toughest professors at FIT. I really struggled in her class the entire semester & I'm used to getting As. This class never got easier but after a while I realized that I had to put all of my energy into it. Adive: read the entire manual and really pay attention. DO ALL HW THROUGHLY she is a very tough grader

Absolutely LOVE Catherine Geib. By far one of my favorite teachers at FIT. She's tough, but she really knows what she's doing and she genuinely really cares about where you're headed in life. Take this class seriously and have fun with it. I even brought our course project to an interview, and it helped me land the job!

Professor Geib is amazing! challenging class but she's dedicated, she knows what she's teaching, she wants to see her students succeed. She gives you hands on knowledge that I'll never forget. Someone said "if you don't use it you'll lose it," and Geib has taught me things beyond expectations and because of her I'm ready to tackle my career.

She is tough but she prepares you for the real world, if you are not ready leave the spot for others. I like her in the end, stressful class but totally worth it. Our college should have more professor like her.

The textbook is definitely needed for the midterm and the final (it's open book and I still got a handful wrong). However, she does put up an "ask my prof" discussion on blackboard which is extremely helpful, answers 99% of questions. Projects are tedious but will teach you so much! Tough grade but very helpful and knowledgeable about the industry

She really tries to make the class fun. She let the class pick somewhere to go on a field trip and we went and learned some behind the scenes of a real company. Tests are online in the classroom and have an assignment due online each week that will not let you finish until you get a 100. Easy A as a class and actually interesting to sit in on!

This class was so informative and Prof. Geib was so helpful with the projects. They're a lot of work, but they're exactly what you'd be doing in the industry so I didn't mind. She gives great feedback and allows modifications to your final project based on her critiques.

She sets clear deliverables but provides students with the agency to individualize their approach. She is also well-connected and a great professional resource.

I had Geib for a few courses. she was my professor for the FBM capstone class during the pandemic and I am to have her over anyone else. she's inspiring, understanding and helps you think about your work to guide you in the right direction. despite having to go online our team won the Ross senior project thanks to support from Geib. take her class!

She might seem like a little much at first, but honestly she was amazing. I felt like she was actually really smart compared to a lot of other teachers. If you need help in her class, ASK HER! She will email you back right away and is happy to meet with you. Only thing - the midterm/tests were hard but your grade is mostly project based anyway

Took prof. Geib for strategies of merchandising and had a wonderful experience. My only downside is that projects had an overwhelming amount of work assigned, but I'm not sure that's Prof Geib's fault and moreso the FBM board. Regardless, she was enthusiastic and caring - overall a solid teacher for any course.

I must be a merchandising wizard, or people aren't cut out to merchandise. Besides me constantly getting the math wrong, I loved our assignments only stressful thing was doing purchase orders I never ran into an issue with the teacher personally. I basically taught myself since it was online, but it wasn't too bad. I eventually got the hang of it
