Best prof I've ever had, and I've had quite a few! If you work hard in the class it will show.
Pretty good. She was fun, but maybe not the best at making things clear. Super attractive, if that matters to you
This professor was not only unclear on what she wanted in assignments but also does not mark them within a reasonable amount of time. As a matter of fact, I have yet to get a grade on 2 on my assignments from last semester but still somehow got a final grade? She doesn't return email and is inaccessible outside of class.
Great instructor, amazing attitude and she is smokin hot. I could look at her all day long. I would give her an A+++
Assignments were not as clear as could have been, and most of the class was work periods. It should have just been a distance class for all of the "benefit" we got from the professor.
Catherine's teaching style is insanely boring...but she's hot. Don't waste your money buying the textbooks, you will never use them for anything you are graded on.
Hart is very rude, and inconsiderate. She doesn't care about her students, only whatever works for her. Don't bother trying to email her, or contact her because she won't reply. If you want a good mark, keep your distance and study.
I was really worried about taking this class, as I'm not the best at biology. However, this class will be one of my highest marks. Catherine explains things in a very easy to understand manner. Posts all notes, very helpful. Lab wasn't bad either. Sometimes her teaching manner seems a little unformal, but that only made her more approachable.
Very rude, when I tried asking her questions she walked away to help other students. Clearly has her favourites. Asked her if I could do something, she said yes, I did it, and then lost marks. Don't use anything other than a power point during presentations, even though she says yes, you WILL be docked marks. Will never take another class with her.
Worst prof ever!!! doesn't help and midterms and exams are hard!!! Don't bother asking for help she doesn't care
Horrible in every aspect of teaching. No rubric's given, marks were out of the air, and heaven forbid you argue a rule she made in the syllabus. She hates teaching and shouldn't set foot in the classroom. Also, a useless class in which I learned nothing.
This is a class where you have to use the information from lectures and find ways to apply it on your own. Some lectures were kind of boring, but other classes were really interactive. You will not be handed a clear cut assignment, so be prepared to work for your grade and think for yourself. No exams, but lots of work. No text either.
Large assignments that are worth a lot, but Catherine is most willing to give feedback, ideas, and work through struggles you may have.
Catherine started out being an awesome professor, especially for education. She really made it seem like she cared, until I had to do a project worth 60% of my mark and she literally left us in the dust. She said "email me if you have questions" and then responded with ridiculous answers that left me more confused than before I asked a question.
Catherine is a very good professor, but she is a real hard marker. Big projects worth a big chunk of the grades.
I read Rate My Prof before the semester started & was scared to begin Catherine's class cause of previous ratings. But she surprised me in a good way! She is very nice & supportive, always encouraging us to ask her questions. She is very helpful in guiding the 2 presentations. Her classes are very fun & interesting. I'm taking her class next year!
Catherine is a great prof, she is funny, accessible easy to talk to. She is a tough grader but fair, she treats you like a professional. We are always laughing in Catherine class. There are no midterms or finals and she is clear on assignment expectations.
Overall, pretty good prof. Her tests I would say are fair, but you do have to study. Second midterm was much harder than the first. She is very respectable and always willing to help you and stay and chat with you after class. She can be a bit monotone sometimes though. She's very sweet and she knows her stuff! I would take another class from her.
Catherine is easy going as an instructor and wants people to talk to her after class if they are having issues with something. My only problems are she never stops during lecture to ask the class if they have any questions on what she is talking about and she talks non stop with the same tone. The exams were pretty fair, just study hard enough.
I really enjoyed this class. Catherine is very knowledgeable of the content and is very funny and sarcastic. Our class is always laughing. Yes, you are graded on two assignments which can be nerve racking, but she goes over her expectations for weeks prior to the submission of the assignment, so if you actually apply her suggestions you're good.
Tough grader and doesn't really feedback as to why you got the mark you did. Often talks down to you. Gives very vague instructions on the projects.
This is an intense course. I took it online and quite enjoyed it once I understood which assignments were due and how to work the online lab programs. Professor Hart always responded to emails and questions in a prompt manner and continued responding until you fully understood. DO NOT BUY A USED TEXT! You need to buy a code that costs $100 if used.
She took FOREVER to mark our assignments. These assignments were unmarked from February, 3 months after we had handed them in we were still waiting for a mark back in April. Barely got our marks back before the day of the final. Her feedback on assignments was not helpful, she just said "NO" or "-1". I would not take another course with her.
Catherine took forever to answer emails and never gave feedback on assignments. I never got to even know my final grade before the exam and had to go into it without knowing. She is hard to communicate with since its an online class. Would NOT recommend her.
I took a class with her online and she was terrible. She took weeks to give feedback and grades back for assignments, did not know my final grade walking into my final. Took forever to respond to emails and concerns. with being an online class, i am very disappointed with the lack of help with questions and concerns. Would not recommend
Super boring lectures, just reads slides that are straight from textbook but they do not follow the same order as the textbook. Midterm was hard and tested on stuff that was barely talked about in class.
I would never take a class from her again. She is so monotone and does not interact with the students. She reads off her slides and barely looks up. Her tests are difficult and she words them poorly so you do not know what she is asking for in the question. Avoid her at all costs.
I really enjoyed Catherine's class. She made it really interesting which helped pass the time. Assignments were not hard at all but there was a lot of writing involved. She seemed to care about her students and wasn't in much of a bad mood when she came to class.
Catherine was always nice and personable outside of classes. During classes however she would just read off slides and sounded like she was bored by what she was talking about at times. It made it sometimes hard to focus in class because it wasn't very engaging in the first place.
Catherine is a very kind person, however I did not like being graded on only 2 large projects for the semester. Guidelines were very vague, and there were no rubrics given at all. Basically felt like I was working through this class on my own without support of a professor. I did not really learn anything new.
I would never recommend her as a prof to anyone, she is dull, and never attempts to engage with the class. Try to avoid, I personally think having her as a prof will affect my degree negatively because she teaches such an important class, but so unwell.
Definitely one of the worst profs at the University of Regina. She does not interact with students whatsoever, will not answer questions and mainly reads off her slides. Her tests are difficult and the questions are worded very poorly. She is monotone and boring. As this is a mandatory and important class, she should not be the one teaching it.
Catherine seems like a nice person but she is not a good prof. Her lectures are very boring and she speaks very fast in a monotone voice. I end up having to teach myself all of the material later on. There are weekly quizzes, but they are based on the textbook and not lectures. If you can take this class with anyone else I recommend doing that.
would not recommend taking her kin 267 class. Her class is basically equivalent to taking an online class by yourself and she speed reads off of her slides for 75 minutes every class. She also doesn't really engage with her students and has a monotone voice which makes difficult to truly pay attention to her lectures. tests are difficult
Very lecture heavy yet focusing too little on what we need to know. The midterms are very hard and detailed despite the fact that her delivery makes them seem easy and general. Her lecture skills are very poor. She seems bitter constantly but actually very nice in person.
Hope you're ready to teach yourself. So much material to cover and she just speed reads off the slides for the entire class. She sounds bored and uninterested the entire time, making her monotone lectures even harder to follow. Exams are not in any way reflective of the simplicity of slides. Deserves credit for how nice she is & willingness to help
Does not know how to teach. Catherine comes across as someone who has never taught a class before. She's smart but she's not willing to teach you. Her condescending attitude makes any discussion of exam material useless. Her assignements can only be done using ctrl-f and searching up answers. None of the lecture material prepares you for them.
Honestly the worst prof, and class, I have ever taken. She's a nice person, and is willing to help outside of class, but is NOT good at teaching. Get ready to teach this class to yourself, and put a lot of extra time into it if you want to do decent. I would never take a class with her again, even if it meant putting my degree a semester behind.
Her exam review was completely useless. What she told us to study and what was being tested on the exam were very different. It makes me question if she even cares. She drones endlessly over slides making lecture pointless. I asked to meet her in person about my exam and she acted very rude and talked down to me. "What do you think?" isn't feedback
Her quizzes are impossible to pass without using Ctrl-F to skim the text for the answer. In the end the grade on those didn't even matter. Extremely disrespectful. Complains about YOUR effort but took over 2 weeks to mark the final. I've never had a prof finally release grades 2 days before semester 2 starts. It's clear she doesn't care at all 0/10
Professor Hart is really nice when you talk to her outside of class but in class, she comes off cold and boring. It was almost impossible to pay attention to lectures. The quiz questions come out of nowhere and you basically have to guess. The long answers on exams were vague and unclear so you also had to guess on those too.
She is such a sweet lady. Very easy going and kind. She will help you with anything and support your project choices. I would 100% take a class with her again!
Never have I been so humiliated by a professor. I came to her to see my midterm and whenever I had the audacity to ask what I did wrong she would smugly reply "I don't know what do you think?" FOR EVERY QUESTION. What a rude person both in class and outside of it. She even lied about what the final would be about. Save your grade and drop her class
I took her class online and there was no teaching involved! You basically read the textbook and take quizzes every week. Worst prof ever.
One word- HORRENDOUS.
Online class was straight forward and expectations were clear. However, it is a very heavy course and lots of effort has to be put in to do well. Must read all required reading to do good on quizzes. Do not procrastinate any assignments in this class. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK, BUY THE CODE INSTEAD (or you may already have the code from kin 260)
Worst prof ever. I have had her both in class and online. In class she just reads from the slides word for word and then gets offended when people leave her class. Online there is no teaching involved. Everything in the entire textbook is fair game. What is the point of paying tuition if the prof does no work and no instructing.
Provided extra materials for modules, but a matching game doesnt help if every test is based solely on the textbook. The final had chapters we didnt cover in class, and she didnt respond to emails about questions, or for feedback and help before the final. Read the textbook because quizzes will ask random things from textbook not just her slides
Catherine Hart is very smart, but a very poor teacher. She is very bad at explaining things and she uses examples of subjects she hasn't taught yet. During lectures, she seems more concerned about getting through the material than if her students are actually understanding and learning. Avoid this prof as all costs.
CATHERINE HART IS THE WORST. She is a bad lecturer and does not care about her students. She spends too much time answering stupid questions instead of finishing what she has to teach. Never have I had so much time wasted attending a lecture. If you want to save your time and money look for a better professor.
Yikes. While Catherine is a nice professor, her teaching style isn't where it's at. Long lectures that are very content-heavy and difficult to digest. Besides 2 midterms and the final, we had 5 small open-book quizzes only worth a small % of our grade. The content was interesting, but there is a LOT of information to be memorized for all the exams.
VERY knowledgeable prof, but does NOT know how to teach. Puts up multiple slides with a ton of words and just expects us to understand. Basically had to learn everything on my own. This course is very complex and needs a prof that knows how to properly teach the content to students. Avoid this class with this prof, you will not regret it.
This class is horrible, although it is a very interesting course. However, she do not seems to care about student success, all she cares about is completing her tasks. She do not explain with her own words or narrowing it down, she read off the textbook. She is basically done with it.
I don't know if there is any other way (rather than heavy lectures) to instruct a course like this one. She did a pretty good job when she summarized all concepts in her slides making it easier to understand. She always tries her best to answer your questions and available to reply your emails. You will need to work hard to get a decent score.
Catherine Hart is one of the most dry lecturers at the U of R. Her lectures were packed with large volumes of information that when presented in Catherine's monotone voice seems to provoke sleep instead of learning. However, the information was also readily available to digest outside of lectures considering she pulled everything from the textbook
Everyone saying her lectures are boring, I loved that because I didnt go to class and just read slides and there were no surprises on the exam about stuff only mentioned in class like other profs had. Very easy to know the test answers if you memorized stuff from slides, no extra's.
She doesn't provide any notes or PowerPoints. Instead, she asks to complete weekly labs & workbooks with 30+ pages of questions from the textbook. My advice: don't do the questions. Instead read & MEMORIZE the textbook. She asks to do it anyway with her questions. Also, do her practice quizzes & games. The textbook is available online with the code
Human life can depend on how well future health workers will learn this course, and the prof doesn't lecture at all and doesn't prepare for tests or labs. She had PowerPoints ready but never shared them with us. Instead, we had to waste time answering qns from her long weekly workbooks. I regret taking this course. Waste of money and learnt nothing
Was surprised to see that all the lecture material she uses was taken from the internet. I had her for 2 months and hadn't seen her face once. It took her a ridiculous amount of time to input grades, which is extremely frustrating not knowing your mark going into Midterms. Save yourself the stress and DO NOT take her classes.
Catherine Hart gets paid good money to do what anyone who can read could do. She simply reads lecture slides with no further input. All the information comes from online, same with her test questions. Shes the middle man between you and the internet. Also takes forever to grade with no feedback. Avoid.
She is so rude in person, I cannot believe we let people like her teach at the uni at all. Basically every exam was met with backhanded insults and shaming. I will never take a class with her again. "Professor, I'm confused about why I lost marks here, can you help me?" "Um, I don't know what do you think?" SO SMUG.
I will never take a class from her again. My prof got switched to her last minute and I regret not switching to a different class. It took her 6 weeks for her to give us our lab exam mark back. Multiple of us had emailed her and she gave us a day she would give them back. We got them back a week after that said date. Not happy at all.
Not good at all professor, avoid her class. She just read from the slides without trying to simplify things. The test was very detailed and if you don't memorize all the book, you would probably fail in her class. I am very disappointed taking her class.
She doesnt even teach or provide slides. The only way you can prepare for her midterms/final exams is if you memorize the huge textbook. She marks very slow as well.
This class is yes very content heavy, however all she provides you only with are brief slides of information. Her tests are widely different from the material she teaches. For example - her lectures are the tip of the iceberg compared to the information on the tests. Either she needs to make the tests more like the content, or give better conten
Quizzes were very short on time given how heavy the material is. Little resources to aid our learning.
I took this course online asynchronously (because it was the only option) and all I was given for 'lectures' was PowerPoints with very difficult to understand language. She did no teaching at all. I emailed her regarding questions or concerns about quizzes and she either didn't respond or responded the day of the quiz. Try not to have her.
Great organization and clear expectations. Catherine is a very kind and understanding prof. Students can achieve decent marks in this course provided that they put the time in. Test questions were fair. Labs were graded fairly. I liked how the labs were accessible and relevant to the course materiel. I hope I can take another course from Catherine
Rude vile woman. Do not fall for the nice girl act. Extreme passive aggression.
The scope of her teaching is unrealistically broad. The amount of time I had to set aside to get through the workbooks was ridiculous, and the content she expects students to memorize is inconsiderate of their time and workload in other classes. I'm not exaggerating when I say she expects students to memorize at least 80% of a massive textbook.
Do not waste your time to take class with this instructor. She just go through lectures notes without good explanation. She is concern of finishing her lectures without considering that her lectures are understood or not. She never give revisions of mid-term or exam. Her lecture notes are heavy and she effect students to memorize everything.
None of your emails will be responded to within a week. Don't bother. If you make ANY submission errors (typo in title, wrong file type, etc.), you will get a 0% She doesn't teach this course. You read a textbook and teach it to yourself. You will have NO contact with her as she doesn't record lectures. Expensive. Wiley Plus is your best friend.
If you can avoid her, do it. The workbook provided wasn't updated, the links actually led to another prof. The workbook and guided tutorials were based off old versions of the textbook. She provided no actual lecture or guidance, we were left to learn the textbook on our own with the "help" of the guided tutorials and workbook. Worst. Prof. Ever.
I never have said this and never will say this again, but just stop teaching. You are not good at, you make easy content hard, fun content boring, but worst of all you conpletely fail to improve.
Incredibly rude. This class is memorizing a 1200+ page textbook with no guidance or ability ask questions. If you ask questions or feedback you will be met with a rude response and no answer. Apparently feedback on assignments is considered academic misconduct, so you are out of luck if you actually want to learn why an answer is incorrect.
If its "academic misconduct" to explain why you marked my answer wrong, then why even have office hours? So you can pretend to be a caring prof? So you can convince yourself that you're doing a good job? Give me a break.
Don't take this course during summer, very heavy course being taken during a short amount of time.
Course content is extremely heavy. She speaks at x10 speed and reads directly off slides. She is incredibly hard to understand during her lectures and fails to slow down to allow students to understand hard concepts. Her teaching style is awful and exams are incredibly difficult no matter how much studying is done. Avoid taking her class!
Nutrition is obviously a difficult class, so you have to study, however she makes her criteria very clear. The exams are all MC and True and False, and she is very accessible outside of class. The lectures can be a bit dull and rushed as there is a ton of content to get through, but everything is posted on the slides.
She is great in teaching, but, you have to concentrate ALOT to understand fast lessons.
Her lectures were kind of robotic and very mind-numbing. She reads off the slides and reads quite quickly. This class has a lot of information to memorize and goes deep into different nutrients and the digestive system. She was very nice, just not a very interactive prof.
I didn't know what to expect going into her class after reading these reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. She's nice and extremely knowledgeable. Yes, the lectures are heavy and can be bland at times, but there's a ton of info to get through. It's a really heavy course, but if you study hard, you can do really well. She was great overall
Worst prof ever
so horrible i cant understand anything.
Not what I was expecting from other reviews. Lectures are bland, fast, and full of information but exams were extremely straightforward and pretty easy, mainly multiple choice. If you keep up with the material you will do very well in this class.
The material itself is content heavy but she does a great job at trying to keep it entertaining with comical analogies. She is very clear about her expectations for exams in the course, and is extremely kind and approachable to help clarify topics. Overall enjoyed it
She has high expectations and exams were pretty tough, but with that said, she is incredibly kind and genuinely wants her students to do well. If you put in the time and effort, you will do fine. Wish I would've ended with a bit of a higher grade but given the heavy content, I'm pleased.
