She knows her stuff, but be perpared to work hard

she is awesome! you have to work, but this is COLLEGE, not K4! one of the english dept's best!!!

I don't mind her. She usually keeps the class attentive through her up-beat attitude.

She can be rather difficult, but I have not once heard her brag about her doctorate degree in our class. She is a nice person who expects a little too much. She may seem harsh, but if you can't take harsh, then you aren't ready for life on your own.

She has a nice personality and is always energized, but she grades pretty hard. She minus 10 pts for every grammatical error on a paper. If you are bad at grammar take another teacher who might show sympathy.

She is very helpful if you contact her outside of class. I've learned a lot in her class and she treats her students fairly. English teachers are supposed to be meticulous--one needs to learn proper grammar in college. You'll be expected to work hard.

Very energetic and informative. I found her grading fair and helpful. By far the most energetic and fun professor at C of C.

A fantastic instructor who nurtures students who strive to interpret writings for themselves. Plan on doing hours of research, beyond simple readings and interpretation of texts. Plan on tracing and reading all connected writings. You'll get that A!

I loved her class; it even made me become an English major. There are just a few papers (not that long), and she is more than willing to help outside of class.

Dr. Holmes' class may not be the easiest, but she certainly makes up for it with the energy radiating from her everytime someone makes a comment. She is a little too perky for my taste, but in my opinion, a pretty good teacher. She does grade hard, but like someone said earlier, this is COLLEGE.

she's really hyper and enthusiastic, but kind of patronizing to students and authors. her papers are graded harshly and she is sometimes unclear about what to fix. the midterm was extremely tough and the final seems bad too. class is sometimes very, very boring. overall, not great, not terrible.

Ended up with a better grade than I thought I was getting. There were ups and downs over the semester :-/

She is Fine! The only teacher I looked forward to the entire semester. I had to wake up early, but her smile made every day worth it. If you dont do well in her class, then learn to write!

Her lectures are straight forward and shw will tell you what she wants. She is avid about your grammar, but welcome to college guys! If you are looking for an A you will have to write well and take your analysis deeper than skiming the surface. I loved going to her classes and will try to take her agian. I promise she is worth the effort.

She is a wonderful prof! She cares about her students and is always willing to help. She is energetic in the morning because she is a running freak, but that just helps keep you interested!

Talk about some serious energy! I really liked her, she's willing to proof read your essays and guide you. I appreciate her taking out the time. Not neccessarily an A course, but I think she's worth it. You read, write 4 papers, and have a managable midterm. She's so helpful though, I can't emphasize it enough! TAKE HER!

She has a lot of energy and is very passionate about english. 4 papers, a midterm and a final. Nothing extremely hard. Midterm was a quote test and final was quotes and an essay. She's helpful and is caring about her students even outside of the classroom. Class can get boring if you don't participate in the discussions but I would reccomend her.

Very good professor. Cares about her students and wants to help. Participation is a key to success. Papers get more difficult as you go, but are manageable. Mid-term and final include quotes and essay. She will teach you a lot if you have the right attitude.

I don't really like her. She is way too loud, laughs at everything, and is can be extremely rude. She is a harsh grader. Just not the best one. I'd say find a different teacher.

Dr. Holmes is very enthusiastic about her teaching. As long as you do the work (which is only about 3 to 4 essays in a semester) you will do well. Grades tough, however, is easy to meet with and willing to help a generally interested student.

Profesor Holmes is a very good teacher! 2 papers, a midterm and a final. Her tests are pretty hard and do require a ton of studying. She is a great teacher though and will help you outside of class with essays. She wants her students to do well and is willing to help if you go to her office hours!

Some people like her, some don't. I found that I liked her a lot and her class really wasn't hard at all. Mostly just lectures all semester, with a midterm and 2 papers, and if you make an A all semester, you get to exempt the final. Seriously, I felt this was my most lax class! Hehe~ but she is sweet and energetic! :)

Dr. Holmes is quirky but extremely intelligent and likes getting to know her students.. this helps when it comes to getting personalized help on papers. Effort is key!

She is late every class period by 9-14 minutes. She missed 6 classes in first 7 weeks of school. Nice woman, unpredictable temperment, infectious lecture-style. Easy class!! midterm and 2nd midterm for final. 2 easssssy papers.

She's quirky, but sweet! I enjoyed her class. do the reading!! she gives quizzes often with very specific questions. if you talk to her, she can be quite helpful- especially because sometimes her directions aren't clear at all.

Compared to everyone else's HONS110 experience, mine really wouldn't have been improved had I chosen another professor. You don't learn much. You have short readings everyday and then discuss (with no focus) the ethics of the reading rather than a writing analysis. Believes that a C is average and A is only meant for perfection. Great person though

I was really scared coming into this class because I am not the best writer but I think she is a pretty leinent grader, granted you have to put in the effort. Class mostly consists of discussions. No tests just essays (5 or 6) but it wasn't that bad because the topics were kind of interesting (sometimes). She is super peppy and sweet. I recommend.

Professor Holmes is one of the nicest people I've ever met. That being said, she is a tough grader. Her papers are not something you can write the night before and get an A on. She is very scattered with her assignments and lectures, but I really enjoyed the class overall. You will also have to read the books assigned if you want a good grade.

She is a very kind soul and truly cares about her students but my god her teaching is sporadic and has no structure. No exams, just papers.

This class is not too hard but I do not recommend taking it with holmes. She lectures all class in a painfully boring way. Her lessons are very sporadic and unorganized. Her lectures have no direction or relevance to the class whatsoever. Her assignments are also very vague. I suggest doing whatever you can to avoid taking a class with holmes.

as someone who hates writing, this class wasnt too bad. there was a lot of writing in this class (because it is an academic writing class) and she likes to do a lot of discussion boards in her class and those are due like every three days, theyll def catch up to you. shes a very sweet lady who doesnt mind extending deadlines which was a bonus.

I loved having her so much! She was so passionate but class would get quite boring at times. It was pretty easy to pass this class with a good grade, because a lot of it was just based off of participation and every class meeting was just a group discussion. But you will have to write around 3-4 papers, although she does not grade them harshly.

Prof Holmes is a very sweet lady who enjoys making conversation with her students in order to get to know them better. Classes can be boring, but her assignments are generally straight forward, and although the due dates may be confusing at times, they are the same days of the week every week.

Her class was definitely a snooze fest and It didn't help that it was at 9 am in the morning. I think there was a total of about 4 essays and she wrote good feedback for all of the essays which helped me improve. Not a hard class but definitely not interesting.
