Vey nice, makes classs pretty interesting. One field trip fpr extra credit. Pay attentionin class and you will do well, sh eis also pretty cute, but Married and has new child
way cool and totally involved in every thing she does.Awesome personality! Easy to follow and understand.
I could tell from the moment that I got into the class that she enjoyed her job. She enjoys teaching and she is good at what she does. She is very nice and sweet.
I LOVE HOW ORGANIZED SHE IS!!! Really tries to make it interesting!
A lovely person -- pleasant and well-spoken. There's no confusion as to what's required of the students. She keeps boring content lively and humorous. And you will never feel unable to ask her for help.
awesome teacher. she is funny and makes it really interesting. she makes learnin geography fun!
shes a really great teacher and makes it quite interesting with her sense of humor, just her personality is great!
She is an outstanding person to have in the classroom. Her unbridled enthusiasm for her subject is outstanding, and really keeps the class upbeat and interesting. She's also easy to reach outside of class should any problems arise. I've really enjoyed her class, and plan to take more of her classes.
She made the class so interesting, it is one of the only classes that I have taken and enjoyed. She is great
Very hot and class is interesting. Take it, it will be fun, and watch all the nerds ask her goofy questions. The nerds like her alot cause she is really smart, and cute.
Very interesting to listen to. Gives out online assignments that are easy A's and an extra credit assignment. Quizzes weren't easy, but she really made this subject make sense and a lot of fun.
I feel like this site failed me, I studied my ass off and still got bad grades, this is not easy at all, you have to work at it, there is no more available extra credit since she now tosses your lowest test score, yipee, doesn't help. She isn't very helpful, just kind of expects ya to know a lot.
Study hard for tests with study guides. Online assignments are easy A's. Make sure you do them! Very interesting class. She tends to ask questions to the class a lot even from previous lectures.
This lady is a sweetheart. Online assignments are a joke. Very easy. Tests are pretty hard but if you study you should be ok. I got a "B" without doing too much work. I would recommend taking her. The class is interesrting too.
Jain is so fricken dope. I recommend going on the Catalina trip during spring break...I had such a great time.
Great, sweet & easy to listen to Professor. Geog. Lab is pretty basic & easy if you pay attention. Enjoyable field trips. Study before the test - more difficult than I expected.
BS, she is an intersting teacher, studied my butt off , take st gean
Loved this class! She was very helpful when I wasn't completely understanding the information. It wasn't the easiest class but she made it so interesting that I loved it and did great. Fun class.

The best teacher I've ever had. I love how she uses visual aide into her lecture, it really does come in handy for tests. Very articulate I strongly recommend taking her class, you learn the greatest stuff everyday, even if it doesn't seem all that interesting she still has a way to make it fun to learn physical geography.
Cathy Jain knows her subject well and enjoys teaching it to students, and it shows in her teaching methods. She is excited about what she teaches and, through her online assignments, trys to get her students interested in her field. Her door is open and she is willing to help her students. Tests are not grueling but are comprehensive.
I really enjoyed this class. As long as you show up and pay attention to lectures and take good notes, you'll do fine. She only assigns 3 HW assignments the entire semester, and she also offers extra credit. The Lab and Lecture are both very straight forward, no surprises. Take this class! Even if it's only for general ed!
Jain is the best teacher in Palomar Campus. Period. I took notes, did the online assignments and the extra credit assignment, and barely studied and got an A. She loves geography and somehow makes you love it too. Super cute without trying too. Take it.
Excellent teacher! She is the "ideal" college teacher- clear lectures, study guides, lots of visuals in class, and VERY enthusiastic about her subject. She requires 4 tests, 1 paper, and an extra credit field trip. I am not going to say her class is easy- don't take it thinking it's an easy "A"- it's a hard subject! (she helps a lot though!)
pretty chill, if u dont pass the class ur probably retarded. she's kindof hot in her own little way. little bit of a hardass when it comes to talk of evolution, major evolutionist believer... i personally dont believe in that bull, but whatever as long as u can put up with it ur cool
Pretty chill class, if u do the work and study u shoudl easily get an A
she is cool. very into her work and to the point alway's.
Great teacher. Very enthusiastic about the subject. Willing to help and makes you understand everything. Easy going and easy to talk to. Take notes during lecture, which is where most of the test questions come from. Go to class, you will enjoy it.
Cathy is the best teacher I have ever had in my whole life. I'm not kidding. I interviewed students for a paper I was writing and every single one of them talked about how they could hardly wait for her class every week. Take her! She's great. Do the work and you'll get an A.
I took her for GEOG100&100L and she is awesome!! Because of her I'm a Geography major right now. She is fair in every way and very much loves what she teaches. I loved going to her class and wish she taught at State! Lectures are clear, gives an outline before her test on her website, tests are very fair. She super helpful and overall awesome :)
Loves to teach! Very easy to pass this class
She is THE BEST teacher I have EVER had. Just take the notes and use her study guide and you'll get an A. Not to mention, she is very attractive!
She's a nice lady but this class was extremely difficult. It's basically a self-taught class so you're on your own. This is by far the hardest class I've ever taken at Palomar.
prof. jain is very organized and she tells you exatly what she expects you to know for the test. she makes things very easy to understand! attending class is mandatory though, but it pays off; she is very funny and very nice!!!

This class is EASY! And she is super nice... just take good notes and you'll pass the tests. There are only 2 online assignments but they are a piece of cake!
Just take notes every single class. Cleaner your notes are the easier it is to study. You won't even need your book.study your notes. She's very nice.Really cute seeing her pregnant belly progress throughout the semester. Online assignments help grade, very easy. Go to class every time. It helps a ton.
mrs. jain is awesome. super stoked on her job, it pumps you up. don't miss any classes, take good notes, and study for her test there pretty difficult. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE ONLINE ASSIGNMENTS easy easy points and worth 15% of your grade. she gives a large extra credit assignment that is also easy points. TAKE HER!
I loved her! her teaching was clear, interesting, and easy. even though she does not take attendance, go to class and listen her lecture. do online assignment and extra credit, and study for tests using her study guide. you will get A and learn a lot from her. i did not like Geog, but i enjoyed a lot and got interest in!
CATHY IS THE CUTEST MOST PROFRESSIOAL PROFESSOR, AND SO MUCH FUN. SHE HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR. I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM HER CLASS.
Catherine is legit. if you come to class and get the notes you'll be fine. She mainly lectures all of class, but its really interesting. 4 tests through the whole semester, lowest grade is dropped, 2 online assignments. and extra credit is offered. i would highly reccommend her!
I have always hated science of any type but this professor made it clear and even interesting to me! You must attend class as most of her test material is from her notes. I also took the lab class and found it to be helpful in undersanding the lecture class. She really is into her subject! Las Vegas is ruined for me now because of her true info!
shes a very nice lady, very helpful and responds quickly to emails. Dont need the text book just have to show up for every class and write down everything thats on that board. read your notes 20 times right before the test and you will get atleast a C+. Do her 2 online assignments (EASY) and do good on the first 3 tests, you wont have to take final
Prof. Jain is the BEST. I hated any type of science before this class..geography is now my favorite! Her lectures are long, but VERY interesting & helpful. Don't really use the book at all. She makes everything easy to understand & remember. She gives a study guide, which is exactly what is on the test. Would definitely take her again!
I love her, she is the best,a very helpful teacher, if you want to take geography take it with her!!!
Best teacher ever! Extremely clear in her lectures, very sweet and her classes are not boring at all! Your grade is only based on the tests and she assigns 2 extra credit asssignments to help make up if you do bad.I passed with an A. Definately take this class!!!!
Very nice, very passionate about the subject. Give a chance for extra credit. Drops the lowest test score.
Prof Jain is a great teacher & very nice. She knows her stuff & is very helpful. Tests are very hard. Review sheets have tons of study material. She is also fun in the lab & I enjoyed the field trips. Tests are based on the lecture, so you need to show up. I'm not interested in science, but I really learned a lot & am glad I picked her! She ROCKS!!
She was very sweet and very kind, but I did have a harder time with the course XD. It could also be because science and math are my weaker subjects in comparison to the art, english, and history fields, but I just needed someone to explain the material more simply. I think if science and math does come easy for you, take it with her.
Prof Jain is so awesome. She is a very smart and kind person. I dont think you need to know math to do well in this class like the last person said. Im terrible at math yet I still got an A. She gives 4 tests(worst grade is dropped), 3 blackboard assignments and one optional extra credit assignment. NO PAPERS!!! Take her!!!
One of my favorite teachers that I've ever had! I usually can't stand science classes, but she made the subject really fun and approachable. Her lectures are really clear and easy to understand, and class is always entertaining. As long as you go to the classes and do at least a little studying, you can make an A in this class. :D
Take this class. I'm not a math or science person, and I got an A. Class is out of 400 raw points (300/tests, 100 BB assignments). Attendance is not mandatory and is not marked/graded. I went to less than half the classes, did the study guides (tests are 95% based of those) and the trash pickup extra credit (20 points). No reason to not get an A.
She's willing to tell you where to find the information you need. She ran class professionally and predictable.
This professor was one of the most professional clear teachers I have had in my college career. There was nothing on the tests that she didn't tell you was going to be on it. Her study guides are extremely helpful and she will explain anything you have a question about. Extremely organized very concise and to the point and she keeps your attention
She is ally clear when teaching but the classis really hard!! she doesnt give u more than 20 pts of extra credit!!! don really recomend her i had a tough time paying att in class because of long lectures and you only get 10 min break in a 3hr class!!!
She makes everything very clear and gives you every opportunity to be sucessful. Excellent use of technology and samples. She is enthusiastic about subject matter and appreciates participation.
This was not an easy class, but if you are sure to not miss an assignment, and study hard for the exams, you can get an A. I took this class online, and I would recommend it for more disciplined students.
The pace of this course took me by surprise but once down, it was very interesting. The reading material is dense and, in my opinion, intended for those with prior coursework in atmospheric sciences/geography/oceanography. Professor Jain is always reachable by email and responds fairly quickly to questions. Highly recommended!
Very professional teacher with extraordinarily well thought out lesson plans. I found her to be highly informative and I wish I could take more of her classes. This class is pretty much tests only, so if you're not a good test taker, I don't recommend taking this class. If you're interested in learning, you would enjoy this teacher.
Tests are not that easy, opportunity for extra credit. not an easy class but Jain makes it interesting and fun. She is very nice and helpful whenever you need it.
Professor Jain is one of the most knowledgeable professors Ive ever met, and is very skilled in her field. I would highly recommend taking her. All of her lectures are interesting no matter what they're on (including stuff you would think is boring like soil!). Keep in mind, this is a science class so dont think you wont have to study for tests!
Just show up to class & take notes and you'll pass... 4 WEEKS EARLY. She gives 4 test(drops the lowest score). So if you do well enough on the first 3, you won't have to take the final. 3 blackboard assignments(only time you use the book, and can be saved&resumed later) EASY. Take her. I finished 4 weeks early. You can too.
Jain is a wonderful professor. I had no idea what a geography class would be about and it ended up being very interesting! She is so passionate about the subject and gets excited just talking about it. As long as you have the notes, she gives clear study guides that make the tests a breeze if you actually study. Highly recommend!!
Jain was a fun and out going teacher. This class was very interesting and she did an awesome job at teaching this class. Class consisted of 3 black board assigments and 4 tests. Drops the lowest grade. After taking the 3 test my grade was an A so i didnt have to come to class anymore. take her!!
Professor Jain is cool. She's also an amazing lecturer, loves what she teaches, and loves teaching it. Go to class, write down everything on the board (that's what the tests are based on) and study. She makes everything super clear, so anyone who does what's required can get an A in this class. I took her and never went to a boring geography class.
Very Clear when she gives lectures, it is highly recommended you go to the lectures because the exams cover everything that was discussed in the lectures. Just pay attention and you will get a good grade.
She was an awesome teacher. I wasn't that interested in Geography before I took her class, and now because of her I am majoring in Geography. I loved her class. As long as you take notes and attend class, you will do great. Study for the tests and you will be fine. She never tests you on anything she didn't explain thoroughly. Definitely recommend.
She is AMAZING! Almost everything you could ever want in a teacher! Fun, clear, uses examples/experiments, passionate, caring, understanding, helpful, approachable, friendly, gives interesting/applicable lectures, you want to go to class, etc. She offers EC, 4 exams drops one(so you could end your semester early), 3 bb assignments. TAKE HER!!!
Awesome professor! Don't buy the book, just rent it from the library when needed. Everything is on her powerpoints, so just copy them down. Doesn't even mention intelligent design in class, but that's typical at a public school. Crystal clear expectations, quizzes, tests, and lectures! She makes science really fun. Take her for GEOG!!
The subject itself was quite interesting and Jain is very passionate about what she does...but I would spend hours studying the power points and notes and I still failed almost every exam. Not an easy class at all.
4 exams, 3 blackboard quizzes, extra credit 20 pts--volunteer & report your experience or write a paper on an animal--lowest exam score is dropped, so if you have an A after taking 3 exams before the final, you don't have to show up for the final exam. I was 1 point away from an A so I had to do the EC, so I didn't have to take the final. Fun class
Really nice teacher! The topics were interesting and she went through material very well. You really don't need the book for the tests, she covers it all in the lectures. I did well on tests without needing to open the book! Overall, a pretty good class. I only took it to meet the requirement to transfer, and I'm glad i did! Easy, fun, interesting!
Awesome professor! She's very helpful, offers extra credit, and offers a study guide a week prior to an exam. I had no care for geography but she made it interesting. She's amazing.
She is a great teacher. I first took the course for general credit and didn't care much for it. But she made the subject interesting and fun. Use the study guide, it will help you on the test.
These other comments are MISLEADING. Entire class grade rests on four tests (one of which gets dropped) but they are NO WALK IN THE PARK. For students with mild interest in this subject (other majors) you are not going to be happy with how this class impacts your GPA. Nice person; rough class. Tricky and misleading tests, no homework pnts. AVOID!
Don't less this being a 100 level fool you, tis class was quite tough. No walk in the park, however professor Jain is a really fun teacher to take she has office hours for questions and if you show up and take good notes you'll be alright.
A very helpful and fun teacher. Made coming to class and learning very enjoyable. All the material she tested on she covered adequately in class, and the few outside assignments also prepared you for the tests. She is goofy, and fun, and makes learning the material a breeze. Definitely take her class if you can.
She made Geography extremely fun, and fairly easy to understand. I feel as though the things you learn in this class could help you for the rest of your life, especially if you want to travel. My major was not related to this class, but I still loved it. She's understanding, clear, fun lectures, attendance not mandatory. Highly recommended!
The best class I ever took. She is a meteorologist so she is knowledgeable and passionate about the subject, which makes it fun and interesting. She uses lots of videos and her tests are based completely of her slides and lectures. But the book is required for online quizzes.
The professor is really knowledgeable of the content that she teaches. Really enjoyed coming to this class. Test are not too difficult or too easy, you'll do well if you study and complete all assignments.
This is the best teacher. her class is so interesting. this teacher has a way of explaining that she almost makes class fun never boring i didn't even notice time go by. highly recommend her. i took her lab and lecture together it helps.
worst class i have ever taken! My counselor suggested i take this class as an easy class. yeah right! this class is so hard and the homework every week is written by meterologists and is literally the hardest thing to complete. I dont understand any of the questions that are being asked and the textbook is literally no help at all.
I hated this class, I'm so glad that it is over. I took this class online and from reading the comments it seems as if it would have been better to take this class in person. The professor and textbook were no help. This class was so hard and the tests harder. Beware!!!!!!
Prof. Jain is one of the best teachers I've ever had. However, if you are looking for a blow-off class that doesn't really require anything of you, you will be disappointed. The class is interesting and the workload easily manageable. Prof. Jain is interested in her students success and willing to help in any way she can. The class is awesome!
Professor Jain is awesome! She is passionate about her subject. Her lectures are great, but expect to work for your grade. She goes over things that are not in the textbook, so going to class is important. She gives out 4 tests and drops your lowest test score. If you take good notes, the test is pretty easy.
I loved the class!! We are almost done with the semester and still enjoy it and feel like I am going to miss it, and the professor. Not so hard and not so easy, interesting class! If you study harder you will get a good grade, and even when you thought you didn't like geography, you are going to love it at the end. Very nice professor!
Catherine J, class is hard. Prepare yourself to read words that you need to look the definition up. Attend the class and take notes IMPORTANT. When she gives notes go home and read what the book explains and google info on the sub too. She is boring but what she teaches is interesting. She give BB assigments and you can use the book.
She is amazing, one of the best professors I've ever had. She was passionate about the subject throughout the entire semester. Fantastic notes and lectures. Show up, take notes, study for tests and you will do fine.
Loved this class! The lectures were visually engaging and she was great at explaining things so they were easy to understand. Everything on the test was something from class lectures or the little required reading. You might have a hard time if you don't take good notes or don't study them before your tests, you have to try a little bit.
This class was awesome! Prof. Jain taught the subject passionately every day, and I learned a ton. This isn't the easiest class in the world, but as long as you take good notes and study before the tests, of which there are four, you'll do great. The lowest score out of the tests is dropped. Don't forget to do the three Blackboard assignments!
Professor is cool. She seems to really like the subject she teaches. Lectures are very helpful. Didn't use the text too much but it helped. Tests/ quizzes are mostly on class notes, so you gotta be in class which is a pleasure. Not too much to be graded. Extra credit offered. I would mos def take another class from her.
Prof. Jain loves her subject and thats the best part. Attendance is not mandatory but you feel like attending her lectures because they are so interesting. The extra credit option she gives is fun. If you like to study and you want to attend classes then you should take her class.
Easy and fun class for sure! Need the book for online assignments but they are super easy and you have a long time to get them done. 4 exams and she'll put up a study guide a week before each exam. She'll take away your worst score of one of them. 20 points of extra credit is opt. Lectures are always important because she gives out a lot of info.
I don't even like science and just needed the credit, but Jain is an amazing professor. She's funny and her lectures are enjoyable, and she makes the material clear and easy to understand. There's an extra credit opportunity, and she puts up a study guide before each exam that is very accurate to what the exam actually consists of. 10/10
Prof. Jain is amazing! I enrolled in her courses for transfer credits, but now I've decided that I want to major in geography and will be taking 2 more courses with her! Lectures are interesting and there are only 4 HW assignments. There are 4 exams, one of which gets dropped. Show up to class, take notes, ask questions! She wants you to succeed!
best professor i have ever had! so knowledgeable & makes lectures interesting! such an easy A. don't need the textbook as long as you show up & pay attention. one test gets dropped & only 4 short hw assignments. learned so much & actually looked forward to the class. TAKE HER!
Cathy is a spirited professor who is amazingly passionate for meteorological science. If you had been wishing to learn about your environment above and the weather that embodies it, this class is for you!! Do not expect this to be an easy A, however; the material given is all tests and midterm essays are graded with high expectations. Be prepared!!
Loved the professor, just a difficult subject that I didn't really enjoy. Class is mostly lecture and a worksheet once in a while. No homework. She gives study guides for the 5 exams and they are really helpful. Provides extra credit opportunities.
I made an account on here just to say that Professor Jain is one of the best professors I have ever had. While the class was fairly easy due to my interest in this field, I think she has engaging lectures and sprinkles her own anecdotes and humour that made the class a treat to take!
Lab due online every Friday. Some of them are lengthy and difficult. I spent more time each week on this 1 unit class than any other class I had. However, super sweet professor that is very helpful.
This class consists of weekly labs, 2 field trips (or an alternate project if you cant go), and 2 on-campus exams. The exams are pretty much identical to the labs. However, some of the labs were very hard and time consuming. Thankfully she provides answer keys so you know what the right answers are before you take the exams.
One of the best professors I've taken at Palomar so far. As a geography major, this class was a blast. Her lectures are great and she'll include her expertise in meteorology regularly which is always super interesting. Tests draw entirely from lectures so you can't miss a class but with Prof. Jain is teaching you won't want to anyway.
Course consisted of weekly labs, 2 field trips (or an alternate essay), and 2 on-campus exams. If you study for the exams using the labs you should be fine I did not and got C's on both. The labs can be time-consuming, however this is common for lab courses. She does also provide an answer key to each lab which is very helpful.
Cathy is great! Can't emphasize her intellect and skill as an educator enough. The class is a little complicated because it works with a secondary AMSEDU platform, but the in-person orientation at the beginning of the semester was a great help. Extra credit opportunity to visit the Rancho Bernardo NWS station mid-semester was very interesting.
Excellent professor! Passionate and knowledgeable. Encourages class participation and is always available for questions. Very organized syllabus, with clear expectations and frequent communication. A fair amount of work, but fun and interesting subject! Highly recommended.
Great class, she's charismatic and easy to listen to. Prepare to take notes while following the lecture. The tests are simple and will be easy if you study and take good notes. I learned a lot of important things about our planet bc of Prof. Jain! Please take the class!
Great professor who is always accessible to her student. The online labs are long and the test is not easy so prepare allot and ask her about any tutors. BUt honestly besides how long the labs can be and the test theirs not much else. The professor cares deeply for her student and if she sees that you care she will match your commitment.
Loved doing the lab online! Even though the labs may be lengthy, I saved more time doing them on my own than completing a lab on campus. The last lab in particular was really fun. If you want an easy physical science class and lab to take, I highly suggest taking geography and this lab!
This professor is very rude, she teaches well enough but is hard on what she does know, the stuff she doesn't she blows off your questions and pretends to know by giving vague answers hoping you won't ask another, and is afraid to say I don't know. She grades hard and doesn't do extra credit or handouts. Nothing late either. Not even to class lol.
I took this class online and I also took the lab, both of the classes were very interesting and not hard at all. She is a very easy grader so as long as you do the work you will pass.
Was online, Lectures will get you through this class for the most part. Her exam timing is ridiculous, but if you find a way to make some buddies, HIGHLY recommend. It's the only way I passed this class. Overall class was fairly simple, but if you don't do well under timing pressure, get a diff prof.
I took professor Jain's fully online 2021 GEO 100 class. Everything was very well explained with clear expectations and easy to follow instructions. Just work through the modules and watch the lectures and you will do great on the exams. (study guide w written qs provided!) She also graded work on time and was on top of announcements etc. Yay!
Doing the lab online was awesome! The labs can be lengthy, but are pretty straight forward. The professor provides weekly videos explaining the lab and the lab assignment from the book (students didn't have to purchase the book). She provides an answer key to each lab. There's 2 field trips or story map project. The field trips were pretty fun!
Had her for "Earth's Dynamic Environment" great prof. Heavy on exams but easy if you study your notes from the lectures and read the textbook. Offers extra credit essay 5% grade boost. 3 exams 1 final. Class isn't mandatory, but exams are based on lectures so it's a good idea to go. Very clear and knowledgeable professor & lectures are interesting.
Her class is very interesting and assignments were easy enough.. her test ...I did the study guides, but I still managed to fail. Some emails she doesn't respond. Her exams arent clear or straight to the point. You really need to know what you're doing to pass her class. Class avg of 45 & 60% so I'm sure I'm not alone.
Yes, this class is very test heavy however, if one utilizes the study guide and refer to their notes then one should have no problem with passing the exams. I didn't have to take the third exam since I did really well on the first two exams (she drops the lowest one). Bc the test avg is around a 65%, it shows that some studying needs to be done.
This is a great Lab to take after Geog 100. Prof. Jain is very respectable and provides youtube videos for all the labs that are extremely helpful. Also, she is on your side and cares about your grades. She WILL work with you to help you succeed in her class!
Prof. Jain is amazing! Would highly recommend taking her in person as she shines best face to face. Online, there was 1 lab a week & 2-3 exams. All instructions were organized and clear. 2 required field trips within 15 miles of SM campus w/online alternatives. She is a great person who really cares about geography & it is shown in her work.
Professor Jain's GEO100 class is engaging and manageable. With clear lectures and helpful resources like study guides, the exams are straightforward if you stay on top of the material. The class is interesting, and unstuck ai can supplement study prep.
She's clearly passionate about what she does, which makes the class fun. Her field trips are fun and make you actually want to learn. the work is easy too
