She explains everything very well to make sure you know what she expects and is always willing to help and answer questions, even one-on-one after class. Its a little bit of work, but if you make sure you get your outlines done on time you will do fine.
She is a good teacher. As long as you put the effort into showing up to every class, do the work on time, and show up for the speeches than you should not fail this course. She is very helpful when a student has a concern about anything and is willing to help you on anything you might have trouble on.
She's great, but you do have to do lots of work and show up to every single class. But overall she's very helpFull
She was a great teacher, always encouraged classmates and offered assistance to people after class.
She is very strict with attendance and deadlines. Not willing to work with you or give help. She can be rude and self centered. Dont waste your time
I was worried about speaking in front of the class until she told us all that its a class to get you READY to speak and is not an advance speech class. I found her to be very helpful when it came to needing advice or help. She also grades fairly and explains why you received the grade. Attendance is mandatory but this is COLLEGE not high school!
She was great! Besides the 4 speeches there are only about 4 easy assignments out of the book and 2 exams(she tells you exactly what's on them so they'r easy As). Do speech outlines exactly like the examples, turn them in on time and speak on your given speaking days and you'll do great! I was(still am) terrified of public speaking but I got an A
Very nice and extremely helpful. She explains everything you need to do to prepare for the speeches. As long as you do everything that she says you can pass the class with no problem. She's a very fair grader and doesn't expect her students to be phenomenal speakers. I'm terrified of public speaking and I got a A in the class.
Great instructor! Do not take anyone else for Speech. Makes the class very relatable and fun. You will actually enjoy speaking days!!!
Catherine is a great speech teacher, especially when you are really nervous about speaking. She makes the class enjoyable and understands people have a hard time with public speaking. Very helpful with outlines, and she always gives great positive feedback that helps boost your confidence!
Ms. Catherine Kaebisch is one of the best teachers I've had. She is very understanding and she is always willing to help you. I recommend this teacher for anyone. She is a fair grader.
She is the Best Teacher ever! I love her!
Catherine is an absolutely wonderful instructor. She is very helpful and open to questions. The thing that I liked most about her class was that she held us all accountable, but did not expect us to be public speaking experts. I could not recommend any class that she leads more, and would actively pursue any of her future courses.
Catherine is an amazing teacher! she definitely is willing to help her students succeed! I dreaded taking speech, but Catherine really helped me and my confidence in public speaking grew, I highly recommend her and you will not be disappointed
Catherine is a great teacher, she is very helpful and understands that most of us have a hard time with public speaking. This class gave me a lot of confidence that I can apply in the future. Its tough work, but like any class if the comminment and time are put you can and will be succesful. I recommend this teacher.
Catherine was a great teacher. Clear, concise and gave ample time for preparation of speeches. I would recommend taking her class.
Mrs. Catherine is a great speech teacher, especially when you are really nervous about speaking or you are bilingual. She makes the class enjoyable and understands people have a hard time with public speaking. Very helpful with outlines, and she always gives great positive feedback!!!! Respect her rules, ask questions, ask for help and will have A!
Great teacher!!! Very helpful, but demanding too. As long as you miss no classes (3 allowed) and never late with assignments you can get nice grade))) Have fun!
She is amazing! She is understanding, clear, and she does not make you uncomfortable while giving your speech. She makes you try to feel as comfortable as you can. Especially during your first speeches. I recommend her!
Catherine is a very nice instructor. The class is one of the easiest ones as long as you prepare. Public speaking is not easy for everyone, but Catherine is there to help and is very understanding of everyone.
If you do the work you it is an easy A. Catherine spells out everything for you. It is just a matter of putting in the work.
This class was a great class. The participation in the class help you learn the course. She is a great instructor teaches you how to be prepared for given great speeches. I would take the instructor again
I recommend anyone to take a course with Mrs. Kaebisch. She definitely is successful at maintaining your interest throughout lectures. She takes her students into consideration when assigning homework and projects. Her easy to follow assignments make it a breeze to pass. She is a GREAT teacher.
This is my first post on RMP, and I am happy to post about this great teacher. She is very clear from day one what the expectations are for the class. As long as you follow her guidance (laid out for you btw), show up to class prepared, attend class and participate you will have a great experience! She is eager to help you succeed!
She is a wonderful teacher. I enjoyed being in her class.
If you miss more than 4 classes you are in serious trouble but you can always ask her before hand for absences. Kinda hot. The hot teacher type.
I absolutely loved this class. It was my first semester going back to school besides the fact that english is my second language but she is so cool and understanding that I was not nervous at all about giving the speeches. I took a Sunday class and the whole group had an awesome vibe. I truly recommend her.
Catherine is great! I was scared to take speech - I dropped it once before because I dreaded public speaking. From day one she made everyone feel at ease and slowly I became more confident in speaking. Easy class if you write your speeches and have them ready to present on time. Easy A as long as you don't miss class and present your speeches.
Catherine, as she prefers t be called, is a super cool, easy going speech teacher. As long as you show up and do your work, you shouldn't have any problems!
She was nice at first, but throughout the semester she became more rude and even gave aditude to students a couple times
She is great! If you follow her guidelines on how to do the speeches you'll come out of the class with an easy A. The only tests we had in the class was a midterm and final which were super easy. The final was only mandatory if you didn't have a high enough A. She is strict on attendance. She counts attendance as a big quiz grade all together.
She is an amazing professor. She's straight-forward, so if you follow her syllabus, you'll pass with an A. She's flexible and understanding. The only exam I took in her class was the final, for a midterm she assigned a group project.
She made it very clear at the beginning of the Semester what was expected and gave examples of what you needed to do in order to get an A. She graded on point system. She was always available to help. Every week, she would go over what she expected for our speeches. She was amazing! I'd take it over again. Extra credit a Plus!!
Really great at making you feel comfortable!
Mrs. Kaebisch is great. She understands that no one wants to take a speech class and makes you feel really comfortable. She is never going to call you out in front of anyone for a mistake you made. Attendance is probably her only big thing, she stresses the fact that she does not want you showing up late.
Show up and "try" and you will pass. I thought I did horrible but I went up there and tried my best and I received an A for each speech. I did not use my book at all. Not worth buying.
She is rude to students and she has this snobby personality. At the beginning she painted the class to be easy; however she relies a lot on outlines. so expect to write a lot as well.
I was doing great in the class, doing really well with my speeches (All As) and the outlines and the midterm. I had something come up personally where I fell behind on a speech. Because I couldn't quickly catch up I was going to fail the class all based on one speech, and she refused to reply to my emails. I had to go to the dean to drop the class.
Katherine gives you all of the tools you need to succeed. She is very helpful, and very dedicated to her students. She wants everyone to do well. Follow her examples from the syllabus from prior students. Follow her guideline, they are there f or a reason. Her class, by far has been my favorite since I decided to go back to school. Loved Her
Catherine is a great teacher and deserves nothing more than positive feedback. She is helpful and really is there for her students. She understands that speech isn't easy for many people and shows empathy for her students who are intimidating at public speaking. Would take her class all over again!
SHE MADE HER EXPECTATIONS 4 THE CLASS VERY CLEAR + IF YOU DIDN'T PASS THAT MEANT U DIDN'T DO WHAT U WERE SUPPOSED TO AS THE STUDENT. HER PASSION 4 HER JOB IS OBVIOUS + I WOULD RECOMMEND HER 2 ANYONE. U GET OUT OF THE CLASS WHAT U PUT INTO IT, IF U DON'T DO THE WORK, U FAIL. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CLASS. SHE GIVES EX CREDIT + IS FAIR IN GRADING.
If you have fear/anxiety of public speaking definitely take her. She understands that many of us are not big fans of public speaking but makes us feel very comfortable. Gives you clear expectations so that you can succeed. Show up to class, do your outlines and speaking notes (on time) and you will be fine. One of the best professors!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She gives you clear criteria, and understands that no one wants to take speech class. She also understands that you are a human, and get nervous and make mistakes. So many points are just on outlines and she gives you clear criteria as to what you need in the outline.
She is super nice and really understands that a lot of people have a huge fear of public speaking, as long as you are prepared with everything turned in on time, you will pass regardless if you do horrible on the speeches
She's the bee's knees!
One of the best professor's I've had in college. She's very inspirational and understanding of everyone's nerves who takes a speech class. If you follow her criteria and pay attention, this is an easy A because she's very helpful with her feedback. I would take another speech class with her and I dislike speeches.
Best speech teacher by far. Probably the best teacher I've had at CLC.
Shes the best professor I've had!
Shes the best professor I've had! She's not hard at all. You come to class and you'll pass.
For anyone nervous about speaking; Mrs. K really does an exceptional job at identifying that nobody's thrilled to be in the class. If you write up good outlines and prepare your speech right, you will get an A. She recognizes that nerves and anxiety are uncontrollable and therefore should not negatively affect your grade.
She's such an awesome professor! She truly understands that most people don't like speaking in front of people. Just as long as you show up to class, complete the speechs and work on time then you should do fine! And also remember to NEVER expect perfection ^_^
Easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. She provides clear outlines for each speech and as long as you complete them, it's close to impossible to not get an A. She's very understanding and a real sweetheart. I dreaded going into the first day, but the last day of class, I walked out one of my favorite classes ever. She really is the best!
A fantastic instructor. Highly recommend taking a class of hers. She's a genuinely nice person and cares about the students & their success in the class. I learned a great deal about public speaking and even found myself more comfortable doing it after this class ended.
Catherine is awesome! She has been that student who gets anxious when they hear a presentation or speech is mandatory. She gives you the benefit of the doubt as long as your outline was good. I do not like speeches and I got an A!
If you have a fear of public speaking, Catherine is the perfect professor to take this class with. She understands that people have anxiety and she even talks about her massive social anxiety when she was younger and how she's overcome it. She grades very generously, if you show up to class everyday it's practically impossible to not get an A.
I can't believe that CLC have teacher like her , the first few classes she show the the students that she's the best but right after everyone realized that she's not more than one of the worst
she teaches too quick and gives way to much homework. She is the worst and if i took this class in my first year college i sure i would drop out as she is overwhelming - she is a devil in disguise so if you too bust to do 3hrs homework DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
This was probably one of the worst professors I have ever taken. Moves incredibly fast and sometimes hard to understand. Tests and quizzes are confusing due to wording. Makes simple material 10000 times harder than it needs to be
I had class with this instructor and she never gave quizzes or papers during the semester! The mandatory exams were explained in detail and very passable. The only homework received was preparing for the speeches we had to give!
CLC have a great instructors but this one is NOT , SHE IS SO not Good
She's awesome! As long as you follow the criteria, show up, and at least try she is an amazing teacher! She's super understanding and goes out of her way to help you! I HIGHLY recommend her!!
Please not the negative reviews received bad grades. She makes it easy to pass if you follow criteria. Those with negative comments did not put the work in to a college course.
Catherine is an AWESOME professor! I can't believe there are negative reviews. This is by far the easiest college class I have taken. There are only 2 exams through the whole course (just midterm and final) The study guide had exactly the same questions as real test. People didn't look at it, failed, and blamed her. I would have had to TRY to fail.
Everyone in my class basically dropped. She seemed so nice and caring at first, and then made you do ridiculous tasks and graded hard on them too. She's horrible at replying back at email if you need her asap. Only good thing about her was 6 absences was allowed but if anymore it was bad. She's a tough grader & I thought it was going to be a easy A
She might be a good teacher during the regular spring and fall semesters, but she is terrible during the summer semester. Don't take her class during the summer unless you want to dedicate your entire 8 weeks only prepping for her class. It was the absolute worst.
I'm literally in shock that people have left bad comments. Catherine is hands down the best teacher I have ever had at CLC. She is the most understanding, patience, and compassionate teacher ever. She genuinely understands that public speaking is scary, and doesn't judge you. She really wants the best for her students. she's so sweet funny and nice
She was all around a good teacher. I took her over the summer semester of 2017. I recommend taking her. She is very nice, and gives good feedback. If you follow with the course, expect to become a better public speaker. Her grading criteria for each speech is confusing though, and she is very strict with the structure of each speech.
Catherine is one of the best teachers I have had at CLC. She is very passionate and motivational in preparing you for your speeches. She always makes a comfortable environment for you to present. She also very organized and clear on her grading criteria. Reaching her outside of class is easy too, she's always willing to help students.
she's a good teacher. her test are easy. At first she is an easy grader with your speech, but towards the end of the semester she expects a lot from you, even thought public speaking is not something you will master with just four speeches.
Professor Catherine was an amazing teacher. Her lectures where very interesting and made assignments clears. Speeches where not easy to present due to nerves, but easy to do and manage. Midterm and and final where basically given to you, all that was needed was to study and read key words from the book. Definitely take her again if needed.
Catherine is a great teacher and constantly encourages students. This is a class and you have to put in effort just as any other class, instead of writing papers, you present a speech. Do the leg work, prepare strong outlines, and work hard. This class has made me a more confident public speaker. Take advantage of extra credit opportunities.
Very understanding if you are a nervous speaker. Jovial, clearly delineates requirements. Just adhere to them and youll be fine. Highly recommended
Don't plan to miss much or any of her class if you don't want to fall behind quickly. Extremely tough grader and can be very intimidating for a student fresh out of high school, not at all what is expected of an intro-level class. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not it.
Great course structure. Clear instructions. Instructor wants everyone to succeed, ask for help when needed. Attendance is mandatory w/4 allowed absences; tardy has penalty of 5% of the grade for each tardy. If u have allowed absences left, taking 5% off the grade could be avoided. No quizzes, just midterm, final, & speeches. Great Instructor. 10/10
Extremely harsh on grading and expectations. Doesnt seem that bad at first but any deriving from her set course expectations, specifically in the outline, can almost fail you. Furthermore, you can forget getting any points for late work. 1 day50% 2 days late-0%. Despite being a fundamental class, the expectations exceed fundamental things.
I took her summer course and she wasnt bad at all. Literally the only way you can fail is by not following the EASY outline or not turning in your homework. It was intense honestly, but she grades fairly. Recommend her if you have anxiety. She lets you have pages of notes with you and allows you to start over your speech if you mess up.
Shes very nice and will give lots of information to succeed in the class
She really cares about your success and also understands how annoying and scary a speech class can be which is helpful.
Expects you to have 3 people when filming your speech in the middle of a pandemic. Really tough grader as well so be warned.
This professor was very difficult to reach outside of class and rarely gave help because she assumed you just weren't paying attention. Would give you a zero if things didn't meet her criteria, regardless if it was turned in on time. You had to do everything according to her outline or you would fail.
Great teacher, she cares about your success and is always willing to help you. Gives clear instructions and lays all the criteria out. She's very understanding and understands that public speaking is scary. Pretty easy grader as long as you do the work per her layout and submit it on time.
I was very nervous to take a speech class. That changed very quickly, and I now actually get excited to come to class! Catherine is an amazing professor. If you put the effort in and apply her advice and feedback, you will definitely be successful. Catherine cares about your success inside and outside of class, and is extremely kind. 10/10! :)
This, so far, is the only class I've struggled in. She was very confusing and wouldn't help when asked. If she did help me, she'd be very vague. It is also important to listen in class since she had random words used to show as proof that we were listening to the lecture. For speeches, there's outlines, speech notes, presentation, and an audience
She will fail your assignment if you dont meet all of her criteria. Specifically, a minimum of 3 audience members. Did she forget that were in a pandemic? Some people do not have 3 people to present to. What should I do then? Present to my stuffed animals? Unbelievable.
bad communicator, difficult person overall.
Will not grade presentations if you do not meet all requirements to the tee.
She would not grade my speech unless it was exactly her format or you had every little thing she stated. She doesn't answer emails. I emailed her multiple times to see if I could resubmit my speeches so she could at least give me a grade on them instead of failing me on everything. She never emailed me back. I wouldn't recommend this professor.
does not responded to emails
In a time like this where most classes we are taking online and never speaking to a professor face to face you would think your professor would do everything to help her students. Emailed her multiple times to help get my grade up and never got a email back. Would NEVER recommend this professor after taking her class.
Do not understand how her rating is so high. Not a helpful professor at all. Horrible at answering emails. Never answered a single email and when never being able to see your professor in person email is important. Will not grade work unless it is perfect. Expects you to have 3 people watch you present while in a pandemic. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!
don't take her classes she's rude and mean and her rules are too much
AWFUL AWFUL! currently still taking her class at the moment. She expects you to have all of your speeches and your outline formatted into the way she wants it to be. If you have one thing she does not like she automatically fails you. Horrible at responding, when i tried to talk to her to get more feedback she was so bleh about it.
Do not take this professor. She is extremely unprofessional and strict. She micromanages all of the speeches and makes it extremely easy to FAIL. Not flexible at all, yet is unorganized herself. Do not take her class.
She just told me I will not pass without explaining why. Rude and unprofessional. Save your money and time by not taking her class.
Catherine is very strict if you dont do your assignments EXACTLY who she wants it to be done she will give you a awful grade. The assignments she assigns also are never direct and clear and she takes days to respond back to an email.
If you have spotty attendance do not take this class because missing a speech takes 50% off the grade! But this class is such an easy and comforting class for anyone with nerves to speak. This class was fun and challenging and this is coming from an extreme introvert!
An extremely tough grader and is NOT the understanding or caring person she says she is on the first day of class. If you email her asking for help with your outlines or asking why she graded you so low on a speech, expect a reply back when pigs learn to fly.
She. Is. The. Absolute. WORST! Do not take any courses with her as the instructor. She is not at all caring, she will give you a 0 on any assignment with one mistake, and she will never apologize if she does something wrong. Stay away from her classes. Her outline requirements are ridiculous, and she is an awful communicator.
Not my favorite teacher, definitely uptight and rude.
I had got into a car accident a week before class started and missed a few classes. She was not understanding at all and was super rude about it.
Very expecting of each student, without enough understanding or late work acceptance. Bad experience.
She was the least considerate or caring professor I've ever had. A complete and utter waste of money. Dropped me for attendance even after I told her before she dropped me through email 3 times (which she didn't respond to/ see), that I was dealing with a lot at home. Act all you want lady, you're not a sweet person.
