Really enjoyed this course, the readings are heavy, but for the most part very interesting. You can get away with skipping some of the readings, but you won't be able to participate in the group discussions. Show up and pay attention, & you'll do well. Highly recommend, both professor and the class. Fascinating topics, fun assignments perusing historical media, not TOO much reading (1-2 easy-to-digest papers per week) Grading is clear, easy to get an A if you do the weekly tasks which are not difficult.

Professor McNeur has been a great teacher. She is very courteous and professional, knows the subject she is teaching well. Always cheerful she is one of those professors that I wish I could take in person classes with and I would take any of her classes and highly recommend you students do the same.

I had a great experience taking this class from Catherine McNeur. She had all of the material for classes pre-recorded, and the entire class was very well organized. It seemed like we knew where we were going and had a clear path of what was expected of us in terms of assignments and things needing to be understood each week.

Dr McNeur is great at encouraging productivity in and out of the classroom. Discussions amongst students are great, and the work itself (~50 pages of weekly readings, a few review assignments, final paper) isn't daunting at all. She clearly cares about her students and knows a lot about her field. She's super intelligent, caring, and inspiring!

There are weekly readings, discussion post and annotating readings. All of them were easy reads as long as you watch the video lectures where she goes over the topic of the week where you can refer to for reading discussion post (not required). Final is an essay will be about the lectures, readings or any material, just pay attention and read a bit

Catherine is a great teacher and it was a great class. You will be doing a lot of reading and annotations as well as discussions. You will also do a book review on two readings (you pick one). The final exam is a hefty one with essay answers but if you have read all the materials and paid attention, you will do fine.
