Great teacher; fun and pretty easy, but you do have to pay attention.

So helpful and nice! She really cares about her students. Lectures are entertaining and fun. 4 exams and uses an online textbook with REVEL. It has short quizzes in it that are due almost every class. Easy, just keep up with the reading. Make sure you go to class. Do the work and you'll get an A!

My overall experience in Mrs. Medrano's class helped me to understand Sociology more clearly. You needed to be open minded so you won't have difficulties with the class setting. I really recommend her because she is able to work at your pace. Because of Mrs. Medrano, I am reminded why I'm majoring in Sociology.

Great teacher! Very laid back and as long as you show up and take notes, you'll be fine. Lots of homework on Pearson Revel where you skim through the chapter/section and take the little quiz, but it's pretty easy. Just remember to do them.

Very funny and very flexible! Lectures a lot and there are two group projects but she makes sociology interesting and doesn't just go off the book. You only need the REVEL access code and those quizzes are due twice a week, that is the only bad part of the class. Overall, she was awesome!

Great professor! Two group projects to do and three papers to write (including 1 group paper); you don't need to buy the REVEL textbook, just pay for the access code online! ALWAYS make sure to do your revel homework, it's easy to forget. Medrano is super laid back and hilarious. I've learned alot in this class!

Great Professor, funny. Uses Revel and Canvas. Clear grading rubric, very easy to understand her expectations. You will need to study for the test. If you are thinking an easy A, think again. Not easy but worth it.

Really enjoyed taking this class. It is very easy to pass & receive a good grade! Just make sure to do your revel every night & do not miss any assignments. She also offered a couple extra credit assignments throughout the semester! I would recommend this class to anyone

Great teacher! Mostly everything you need to know is in her lectures, PowerPoint's are all online as well if you need to refer to them (I'd print them) & fill in study guides as she lectures. If you have something going on, LET HER KNOW. She's flexible, but to an extent. You'll need REVEL which is like $80. I have a new perspective on life now!

I enjoyed her class well enough. All she did was mostly lecture for two hours which was a bit boring but made the class easy enough. She did a lot of group project which was not my favorite thing, but overall her class was enjoyable and easy enough to pass.

I just completed professor Medrano's 4 week summer session. She is an amazing professor who made the class interesting and enjoyable. I wish I could take her class again! SHE IS GREAT! Easy grader, as long as you try you will get majority of the points. She always has stories that had the class laughing. 5 exams, 3 papers, online hw, 2 presentations, and some small group discussions. Good teacher, and makes the class interesting. Recommend if you want to be entertained, pass, and even learn a thing or two.

I took the class during summer session. Her class was just great! really interesting material and awesome teacher, the only thing was that she did not give us a break during class time. 2 group presentations, 3 essays, and chapter quizzes (you can use the textbook) and 4 exams.

There are alot of things to do but her class is so fun. Her stories are so funny and she makes her lectures interesting. You just have to do all the work and for sure you'll pass. Extra Credits are given, 2 project presentations are mandatory and 3 essays are given throughout the coarse. Take her you wont definitely regret it

Shes a great professor and makes herself available outside of class if you ever need anything. A few essays and group presentations and lots of online work but all easy. She does take a while to grade your assignments so you dont know you grade till literally the last day when grades are due.

Mrs. Medrano is the most amazing professor you can ever take. If you go to class and pay attention to the lecture and take notes you are guarantee to pass the class and tests. Professor Medrano is a solid instructor. She makes learning the material easy, interesting, and relatable. As long as you do the homework and come to class, it should be an easy A. She also offers extra credit. Be warned that their is a good amount of class discussion and input, so if you have a talkative class, you will fall behind schedule.

Despite being a unorganized procrastinator, professor medrano is a very understanding and kind person. she'll often give you a second chance on assignments if you are a generally a good student. The homework is pretty straightforward but make sure you read through it. Attendance is not required but attend class so you won't miss out on material.

Mrs. Medrano is a great professor. She genuinely cares about her students. She makes learning fun. She knows her curriculum. What makes her a great professor is she knows how to teach it to those of us who are learning. She has a positive attitude and it shows through her teachings.

Medrano is by far the best instructor I had at COS. Shes caring, funny, and makes the class so effortless that its almost impossible to fail. Those who do fail either dont put in effort, skip class everyday, and dont study for exams. I passed easy with an A+ She also gives extra credit opportunities. I highly recommend her!

Due to COVID-19, my class ended up being online. Her lectures were always fun and entertaining. There are revel quizzes every week. There are about 4-5 tests and there are study guides that need to be handwritten and turned in through canvas. At the close of the semester she gives out extra credit and you can choose to do them or not.

Took this course in summer online, as long as you put in effort and adequate time you WILL pass! Her feedback is always helpful and discusses tough issues in the most academic way possible. This is not a class you can join for free credits. You must be willing to learn and participate in quizzes (and there is a lot).

This professor was very organized with her zoom meeting times, zooms were optional. The course load was not too bad, but there was something to do every day. The only thing I would complain about is that she does not really respond to emails. Overall, she is a good professor.

Prof Medrano was amazing! i am still in her class but we are in the final weeks and she is always accessible for students to reach out if help is needed. currently taking the accelerated 10 week soc 1 class and it has been a smooth ride once you understand what is expected of you. follow study guides and quiz A !

Professor Medrano's PowerPoints were super helpful, especially since we no longer meet face to face. She also provided zoom lectures for each exam. She made sure we had all the tools to succeed. Study guides were graded and had to be hand written, which was kinda inconvenient but they definitely helped prepare you for the exams.

I loved this class and Prof Medrano. Although it was online, & no interaction w/ the professor, I watched the pre-recorded exam review sessions & it made me wish I had taken this class in person. She uses great examples to connect the material to real life and the material is SO interesting. Allows you to use study guides, do them as you read.

i took professor medrano online last year. she has great lectures, is funny, and genuinely cares about her students. theres revel tests every sunday, but theyre very easy. theres 2 essays, and about 5 study guides you need to write either on paper or with a tablet. she gives lots of extra credit. i would love to take her class again if i could :)

I took her online hybrid it was more self-taught and lots of reading on Pearson Revel because the book used is online. Two essay, quizzes, study guides,and discussion boards. It is a lot of work, but it is not hard.

As long as you do ALL the work (and extra credit) you will pass with an A. You also might have to study for the quizzes but thats it. I liked that there was no accumulative final and the lectures were very good.

She's very organized, so as long as you follow her video lectures even you didn't really need to show up to class. You had to make sure you did well on the tests and quizzes though and do the essays. She's willing to work with you and gives a week grace period to turn in assignments. Overall very caring professor.

Catherine talks about her outside experience and uses it to connect to our lectures which helps me understand the materials. In addition, she is an easy-going teacher and allows students to turn in an assignment two weeks late with full credit.

Professor Medrano is wonderful! I loved being in her class. Her lectures were always thought provoking and engaging, and Professor Medrano herself is a funny, kind, and respectful lady. The class work itself was one of my easier classes for sure. She lets you take notes to tests, and doesn't assign any work that's too difficult or too much of it.

I loved this class. Never a boring lecture, she always kept it fun and interesting. Just complete the assignments she assigns on time and you will pass with an A. Ms Medrano made it very easy to pass! We were able to work ahead besides the exams, She gives extra credit throughout the course and gives you credit for just completing the assignment. I completed the course with 103%.

Mrs. Medrano is an AMAZING professor! I am taking her online Soc class and it is super easy. Everything is on a Pearson e-book, theres like a 5 question quiz after every section and then you take a 15 question test at the end of the chapter. There are also unit exams but her study guides are very helpful. Do her Extra Credit they are super easy!!

She is very funny when it comes to her lectures and relates what she is saying to everyday life. All her assignments are online and she gives plenty of time to do them.

Professor Medrano's online class was very easy to follow, she had everything set up from day one and she let you work as far ahead as you wanted. We did have a lot of revel assignments, but they are easy to get through just very tedious. Amazing Professor with an amazing class. I cannot recommend her enough.

If you lack time management DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I only got through this class because she accepted all of my late work. The textbook was also $75. The textbook is a need because you take your quizzes on it. Speaking of quizzes, you will take like 10+ of them every chapter. There were like 13-ish chapters. Overall, lots of reading.

This class is by far the easiest class I have ever taken. The workload is not heavy at all, and she accepts late work. There is no excuse to fail this class unless you didn't do any of the assignments. Lectures are interesting and the professor is very sweet. I recommend this class to anyone.

Not test or quiz heavy at all. Pay attention to her lectures (makes them available online as power points). Know your key terms and how to apply them. Lots of group activities and learning how to work together and respect each other's opinions. Go into this class open minded, you will learn a LOT of new things.

i really enjoyed her lectures, it was nice how she brought up examples seen in the Central Valley to relate to the subjects discussed. all the reading and assignments are on a website. its not bad at all, even if u procrastinate. also she allows study guides on exams

Her introduction to sociology class was so fun and easy to do. Accepts late work with no penalty, group exams, can use study guides and provides extra credit. I was able to get a 104.36%! You can literally work with the whole class on an exam and she would allow it! One con is revel as it costs $80 to buy! You cannot pass the class without it!

Professor Medrano is a great professor. Her lectures are interesting and she's very funny. She relates the class content to the real world, making it easier to understand. For instance, at the end of the semester, you watch "The Walking Dead" and apply sociological concepts. The exams and homework are all easy. There is a lot of homework, though.

The online course was pretty easy. The weekly tests and the study guide every couple of weeks for the exams were pretty straightforward. The only downside is you do need to pay to succeed in this class, but the software used is simple for everyone to use. Discussions were assignments to breeze through as well so overall easy-going class.

If you're taking Soc 1 for a summer course, this is the professor to take it with. This class was so easy and everything was outlined for you to get everything finished. She was so chill as a teacher and understood things happened where sometimes we couldn't show up and she never held that against us. I even walked in late like everyday but after explaining to her why she never questioned me and just completely understood. She also grades very easy as long as you do the few quizzes she gives a week u will do fine.

Very nice and easy. She is one of my few professors that takes attendance so you obviously have to go to class. She fall behinds on her calendars so it's constantly changing. She is very understanding and kind.
