I never knew I would love my english class. First english class in college and I'm loving it. She lets you rewrite all your essays until you get the grade you want. She's really cool and you never get sleepy in her class.

Awsome professor, for ENG 2100 and 2150. Really easy, fun and just great. All you have to do is read and do 2-3 papers which are all short.

She is a wounderful teacher, and a cool person, who makes the transition from high school to college easier. Most of class time is taken up by conversation, which is never boring. She's smart, teaches well, and makes English fun. I recommend her highly

If you want an easy A,register for her! She also teaches Eng 2150 but all her 2100 students already know what section she's in so they all end up registering for her.Minimal reading and some quizzes. One final paper. FUN CLASS!!!

She keeps everyone awake in class. This never happend to me in other english class in my life, but she actually has the strength to make everyone stay awake. She has some cool joke, and it's good to listen to nice bs in this kinna english class.

She's a great person. Her grading is sometimes tough, but it's definitely worth it since you can rewrite papers. Everyone in her class really likes her, and the class is never boring.

She is one of those people that have a presence. She will not only teach you english lessons but lessons in life. She'll even get you tickets to go see her off-broadway show and don't challange her in a push-up contest. She's small but will kick your butt. I'm so happy she was my professor

Cathy is wonderful. A gem to the Baruch English Department and a wonderful professor. There were a lot of quizzes on the readings, but she drops the lowest grade. There were also a couple of in class exams, and take home essays, but over all, it shouldn't be anything you can't handle. Take her class if you can, she is wonderful!

Russell has a great personality. She's easy going and always there to help you. The class was interesting and wasn't too hard nor easy. She's great.

Prof Russell is the best english teacher i ever had. Her class is extremely easy and fun. U dont have to be a great writer to get an A in her class, u just have to show that u are putting a lot of effort and she will give u an A. She lets u rewrite every paper you have done in class. Her only problem is that she returns all the papers really late.

she's awesome, she grades you on improvement, and she has a great personality. she likes to hear different aspects and i dont believe that you had to dumb yourself down. if you fall asleep in class she doesnt care but why would u want to shes really interesting and mainly speaks upon current events, shes the best at baruch by far.

Don't listen to what all the students below me wrote. These are the people who slacked off! If you follow everything she asks you to do, you will get an A. She is a very fair grader, and gives you many second chances. Probably the best professor I've had yet at Baruch !

She is definitely one of the best for ENG classes. Quizzes every class on the assigned readings(really easy),must see a play.The content of the class is basically to discuss the readings,writing a couple of papers but always done in a nice way.She is very laid back and you can rewrite the papers. A class that is hard to get less than a B in unless you don't try at all. Follows the syllabus and uses the textbook. Frequent quizzes which help with the grade. Essays are interesting and fun to do. I highly recommend this teacher if you want to get an A and have a decent time doing it

A couple of easy essays. Give a little effort and you'll get an A. She lets you rewrite and she's a very lenient professor. Must read short stories, plays, and poems that she assigns for you will be quizzed. Quizzes are easy as long as you read.

Cathy is awesome, her class was simple and easy, the discussions were fun and interesting, I guess cause she's an interesting person overall. There are a few papers (you can rewrite all of them) and a lot of readings and quizzes on most of the readings but the quizzes are very easy as long as you read. Take her, you'll learn a lot :]

Awesome teacher, we mostly did discussions which was fun and engaging. Some reading, a few papers, and you have to watch a play but u can watch her's for free. We even got to choose a movie to watch in class. I highly recommend taking her.

Cathy is such a chill and funny lady. Read the stories/plays/etc because she WILL quiz you. Don't show up late, it affects your grade. Participate as much as you can and put effort in your writing. I'm a good writer and did critical analysis of films and wiritings and got A's. It's an easy A if you read and show up on time. Overall, it was fun!

Honestly speaking, she is not an easy A. It all depends if she likes you or not. She follows no rubrics, and everything is opinionated. When grading essays, if she likes you she will skim it if not, she will try to find as many grammatical errors as possible. Her class are interactive, but she does not teach. Take her. Quiz about once a week, quizes are a few easy questions on a short story or play. Two weeks are just watching movies. very few easy assignments.

My favorite class. Need the book in order to pass the weekly quizzes. Every quiz consists of a few questions that are basic points of the reading. Do the readings and you'll get an easy A on the quizzes. Few essays that can be rewritten to get a higher grade. Every wednesday we discussed various articles which was awesome. MUST COME TO CLASS!!!!

Cathy is the definition of superwoman

She is AMAZING!! I would take her again in a heart beat. Her class is usually twice a week and one class was lecture but the other class was just us sitting in a circle and talking about current events. She's really funny and she loves her job so she pays a lot of attention to students, you can always come to her with any questions or just to chat.

Longest paper was the 5 page research paper on a famous person. She assigns either a weekly or bi weekly reading and gives a SIMPLE quiz. Almost every wednesday we brought in articles and had a class talk.

What to expect: - Weekly current events articles to be discussed in class - Bi-weekly quizzes based on assigned short readings - A few take home/in-class essays - One 5 page research paper - No final exam - Participation is a must! - Speak to her in person instead of emailing her - Has strong opinions, but values your input I would take her again.

Cathy is a good humored, down to earth person that thinks about her students before anything else. From choosing five dollar textbooks to giving extensions on papers when they're needed the most, there is no other professor I can think of that understands students as much as this woman does. Get on the waitlist if you have to for her classes.

You are never going to find another professor as laid back as Cathy, but that doesn't mean she'll just give you an A. There're quizzes based on the readings and papers that can be rewritten at any time for a higher grade. There is no midterm or final, both are replaced by in class essays. You'll have fun with her.

If you struggle with writing you'll receive a C-B in this class. Although she does give back papers for you to fix and receive a higher grade. Very relaxed class, articles each week, one research paper, a couple easy quizzes on textbook readings (only stories) and just a very cool person. She helps you improve your skills, but doesn't teach things.

Shes an actress and a very interesting person. She makes the class enjoyable and if you have any missing work she allows you to make it up. You just have to make sure to do her readings and come up with a thoughtful question for almost every class and you should be good

A real gem at Baruch. Super passionate about teaching. Daily quizzes on reading, but they're not that hard. A few essays that you can really have fun with. Really kind and accommodating during COVID quarantine.

The class is pretty writing-heavy, but it's Eng2150, so what do you expect. Once classes went online, she was really loose with deadlines. The textbook is not mandatory; it's just a book full of short stories that you can find online for free. For the zoom conferences, she required us to turn on cameras to encourage class discussion.

Awesome professor. She assigns a fair amount of homework and sets a standard that is extremely reasonable. She is very understanding and all you really need to do is follow the syllabus and come prepared with thoughts regarding the text.

Professor Catherine is the best English Professor I found since I started my English classes (Bmcc, Baruch); English is my second language but she helped me a lot ; I dont like to write and read the articles but she gave me the opportunity to be informed in whats going to worldwide.

You need to give 10-12 Hrs/ Week if you want to pass with good grades. Once a week lectures and homework is given every week. Teaching graduate students for the first time and really impressive. Enthusiastic, Knowledgeable, kind, and Fair Grading!!

Coming into her class I was shy, anxious, and had historically been afraid of participating in class. The atmosphere and energy she brings into the classroom is wonderful, and she is the most influential teacher I've had in my life. I came out of her class a better writer and an overall better person.

In-class discussions will not bore you since they are more sophisticated. She assigns amazing readings, which are mostly short stories. Get ready to write many papers, though!

Best English Professor ever, take Professor Catherine if you love in class discussions. There is barely any written work and she is not a harsh grader. Gives great feedback and let's you resubmit. Super funny and open-minded. Attendance is a must though!

Expect a lot of work and read , the work is simple though just a little tedious. Almost every week there is a review but she is a really good grader. Attendance is mandatory with a mini quiz almost every class with about three easy questions!

The class is very simple a review due every week and a big paper here and there. The same thing every day a quiz with 3 questions on what was read. Not hard you just need to the time in for management. She is very nice and grants extensions if needed.

Had the great pleasure of being in Prof Russell's classes for 2 semesters. She is very passionate and truly inspiring. The feedback she provided for each assignment was incredibly helpful and greatly boosted my confidence. Both of her classes were scheduled for 7:50 a.m., and I always made sure not to miss them because they were enjoyable.

What I loved the most about Catherine is her philosophy on life, she has an amazing perspective on everything she talks about. This class entails a lot of short readings (4 every week, they are doable & fun b/c we talk about them throughout class after 2 very easy quizzes), so read! We wrote quite a few papers (~ 6). A very understanding human.

Professor Russell is engaging and understanding. The class has a lot of readings and writing, but she provides helpful feedback. Using Unstuck ai and staying on top of the work makes this class manageable.

Good Professor though, be prepared to read. Quizzes almost every class based off of readings. There's only two questions per reading. Strict with no phones in class - she will take it out of your hand. You do have to participate, coming up with a "thoughtful question" for each reading. Fairly easy grader. She is very nice.
