I have never done so much work for a General Education class. Be prepared to spend more time on this class than all of your other classes combined
Very hard! Go with an easier professor, don't waste time with her.
I got a good grade in her class but her class did kick my butt. She grades very strict. Be ready to work, work, work!!
She gives you a lot of work to do!! And you have to make sure you read the readings on webct that she assigns as well as the ones she doesn't. She'll expect you to know what is due. Way too much work.... Seriously! And its only a General Education class.
I HATED THIS WOMEN!!! She gave you so much work..I hated that casebook. I got an A but I had to work my butt off. If you get her as a teacher, drop the corse, sign up for a new teacher or take english another semester....Run...as fast as you can....
biggest freshman mistake of my life taking this class. when you think shes sucky in the begining..follow your gut and drop her asap before you waste your money by withdrawing..

This class nearly killed me with the work and the style of instruction. She is very dramatic and unclear about what your work is. Not only that, you usually don't have a clue when something is actually due. DON'T TAKE HER!
This class involves so much work. What's worse is that she makes you pick a topic at the beginning of the semester and you have to write about that topic for the rest of the semester. If you want an A, you have to work REALLY hard.
Way too much work required and when you finally get it done and turned in, she hands back an unfairly low grade. She'll have you writing left and right -- my advice -- RUN to another, any other, professor. There are several to choose from, avoid her.
SHE IS TERRIBLE! This is the worst class you can ever take! Even if you ask her directly about something and she says it is fine...don't beleive it!!! Nothing is ever right, you don't know when things are due, it sucks...i hate it! DON'T TAKE HER!

She has got to be the worst teacher for a general education program, she should teach journalism or english majors. Since you don't get extra points for degree of difficulty i suggest dropping as soon as possible and finding someone else.
Mrs. Schutz does not thoroughly explain what she wants. Students are constant left confused as to exactly what she requires. She focuses more on research and the environment than actually honing the skill of writing.

She loves the environment. Love I mean LOVE...if you know what I mean ;). Those trees are her ****es all night long....
She is extremley unclear on what she wants you to do. For assignments, papers ect. She's really scatterbrained. Also changes voice pattern sparadically too. 1 min. she's whispering the next she's screaming. I'm not exagerating either. Ugly too.
Had a good experience overall in her class. Yes, she gives a lot of work and sometimes it gets to you, but she is always available for help and she's passionate about her job. She is very nice and you will get a good grade if you show interest. I like her

She seems to be nice but she isn't and gives you a lot of unnecassary work. The highest grade u'll get in her class is a B. When ever she grades your paper she'll make up thing's to mark wrong, and you wont get what you deserve.

She really isn't that bad of a teacher, just give her a good first impression. Just go along with everything she tells you to do and you will get an A. Follow directions, go to class everyday, and its a breeze.

Worst teacher I've had. Liberal enviormentalist hippy english class is her life. She thinks everyone is going to graduate and become a journalist. Writing on stupid topics, she cares more about how you cite sources then paper. avoid at all costs.

You could say that this woman is insane. She is like a hippy gone mad. She likes to ramble and tell stories, that have no point. Not too hard of a grader on papers, but not a real fun class.
I thought she was really easy. Make sure you get on her good side, and it will definitly help out. She is really strange though and rambles in class. But I thought it was an easy A.
It may seem like a lot of work at first, but it is basically one topic you study all semester. You write a three papers, and have a presentation all on same topic. She is very willing to help students, just ask for help, she is always there.
Shes nice, and helpful. most work ive ever done...wow. but it worked out and I got an A. and she's funny. go get em tiger.

She has something bad to say about every topic you picfk. One minute she's telling you that she likes your introduction and when you turn in your final paper she rips it apart. AVOID THIS ONE AT ALL COST! She's a real witch!
Grades very hard on your papers. If you go to her office she'll help you a lot, or show a lot of interest in writing. If you can aviod this proffesor...do it...you won't get an A.

Schutz is awesome -- a little crazy and a total bleeding heart liberal, but awesome. ASK QUESTIONS on ANYTHING about which may be unclear! She is really helpful and tries to compensate for things if you tell her your needs. Make sure you go to the conferences -- don't blow them off. Good luck. :)
You'll NEVER forget her whether you like her or not. personally, I found her to be a very colorful character, positive in my experience. many others would disagree though. tough teacher, lots of work. But i love the lady, what can i say
Don't hesitate to take this class. She's a great teacher. It may seem like a lot of work at the time but it's not (only 4 papers during the sem.). She is willing to help her students by canceling class to hold office hours for the students to research. She is sweet and funny (if that helps any).
Wonderful teacher. Really cares about her students. Course load is time consuming, but will prepare you for future classes (especially if an English major). She takes time out to help her students. She's a great person and a great teacher. Take her :)
She is slightly unclear about her assignments but if you ask her she helps you out. This is the most I have worked for any class at UCF, but if you are prepared to work hard, take her and go to the writing center for extra credit.
I loved her. She's really nice. Yeah, it's a lot of work, but you learn a lot. She's very helpful. If you have any questions whatsoever, you can contact her or see her during her office hours and she'll help you. I wish we had more professors like her.
she will give your brain a work out! i think she requires a little too much for an english 2 class, but at least you learn a huge amount about writing papers because you write probably about a million papers during the semester.
Heavy work load! If it's the only class you can get, don't worry about having a demon teacher, she's actually a really sweety and will help you a lot in conference, but be ready to work your but alot harder than you had expected too.
small class, get involved and you can have fun, this class is awesome if the right student are there. A little confusing at times and you rely on WebCT Daily. Prof. is easy and makes really bad jokes, sometimes are funny.
A bit much on the workload. One of the harder classes I have taken at UCF. You will think about what you write after taking this class. That will make you a more effective communicator. So the class has its worth, though the workload is demoralizing.
Am I the only person that had a problem with the class? Everyone in my Spring class didn't understand a thing. Then when we would ask about the cores she would wait to the end of class and then leave afterwards. That and the demoralizing comments. WOW, I've never seen such a lopsided rating. Stay away.
Well, college isn't for everyone. If you can't grasp the material during the composition classes what real hope do you have of measuring up to the later challenges. There is a lot of work, and she is picky....but it definitely has its worth. You may hate this class when you are in it, but later on you will see the point.

honestly, she's not a bad lady and she's not so bad, but process of writing papers do lean toward the ridculous side but if your a journalism major or english major than I'd recommend this teacher. You'll be happy you went through this after. You have to work for your grade, and make sure you know how to work WEBCT!!!
She's great if you like hippie teachers that don't make sense! She's awful. It's unclear what she expects of you on assignments. Don't bother buying main textbook for class. Avoid her. She's weird, and she doesn't teach.
I loved this lady! Yes, shes a hippie but it makes the class fun. She taught me a lot and i was really intrigued by her class. I reccommend this class to everyone, its seriously worth your time
She is absoultley HORRIBLE! She is a complete idiot that is very subjective when grading papers.I learned nothing, and I use to love writing, and now I have grown to hate it! If you like writing and you don't like hair do not take this class.
Mrs. Schutz was the best teacher I have had in college. I wrote several drafts of each of the four core assignments, went to the University Writing Center, visited Mrs. Schutz at her office, and checked WEBCT daily. Because of all of this, I earned an A in the course. I loved this class because it felt rewarding to work hard for what I wanted.

Mrs. Schutz is a very picky teacher. She expects your best. You cannot half ass a paper without her knowing, whether you that it's good or not. GO TO HER OFFICE FOR EVERY PAPER BEFORE IT'S DUE! I cannot stress this enough because she will tell you what to add, what to delete, and what will make a B paper into an A paper. You will learn a lot!
This is the worst English class ever! Try to avoid her if you can. She never explains the papers and she will tell you one thing and then you get your paper back and it has a big fat D or F. She is very vague with directions. Try to stay away
Her assignments are left very vague. Her research methods are very strict in what may be used as "research." She promotes the use of WebCT by requiring students to check it twice a week, but doesn't follow-up. Students are paired up based on letters and left alone after to find a group focus.
i HATE this class!! she's soo unclear with everythig. Every day she gives you some info and then you have to guess the rest and she expects you to know and do everything right! DO NOT get this teacher!

Big mistake taking her class. She is very picky about your papers so in order to get a good grade you really need to write well, go to the UWC, meet with her. her classes are boring and she asks alot of questions so be ready to participate. she's a little mean in going over the paper with you in her comments. i would just recommend another teacher

This teacher was the worst I've had at UCF. She turned our english class into an environmentalists class. Everything we did in her class was so irrelvant and had nothing to do with the concepts of writing or english. You also have to purchase environmental books that are no fun to read! I would not ever take this teacher again, even if paid to!
I had her for ENC1101 Fall'05. Picky, detailed, tough grader; tons of "journals" to write about what you will write about (IMO, busy work); she made me a better writer, but I think the input work didn't equal the output skills I gained. She appeared pretty liberal in her thoughts.
Don't be scared off by the other comments. She's confusing at first, and it might seem she is throwing tons of work at you, but it laxes about a month into the class. If your a good writer, you will have nothing to fear. If your not, the frequent peer reviews (which aren't graded) will help you get a good grade. I got an A-, so it wasn't that hard
i really wish i would have paid more attention to her ratings before i took the class. If you don't want to work for your grade, then by all means, don't take her. However, if you want to improve your writing skills and be set for other writing-intensive college classes, then take her. This woman will work you, but you will surely be set when it comes to 4000 level classes where 12-15 page papers are common.

I took her class this semester (Spring 07). She's not really a terrible person or necessarily a bad teacher per se, but she's totally confusing. She makes you go on WebCT a lot. Avoid this class if possible, if you do end up with her, find yourself a buddy to help you understand what's going on.

well... this class was overloaded with pointless busy work. I made an A but they are rare. She grades papers grammitically... so know all the nitpicky stuff. Definitely not my favorite teacher, But if u work hard ull pass.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you have a major that involves a lot of writing. This class, compared to most other enc classes (according to descriptions of others, has the most work of any other basic english class. Its not so much diffacult as it is time consuming. Theres more writing in this class than all classes Ive had combined!!!

Professor Schutz is a great teacher, but I can understand why some may not like her. One has to enter the class wanting to learn, and wating to get better at writing. If you go in with that attitude, then the class is great. I love the class. I love her and her teaching style, and I love writing the assignments. I reccomend her.
the entire class is writting assignments. she will work with you but she is a stickler in grammar. not my favorite teacher but did help me somewhat in my writting.

Be prepared to write a lot, more than any other english class for sure. She isn't very clear on what she wants for papers, and then grades harshly. Make sure to have your journal assignments done early, because the dates posted on the calendar will change at her whim. Pick groups that you can actually deal with, bc youll have them all semester.

Probably the worse professor you can find anywhere. She tries her absolute best to confuse you so that you can fail her class, makes you work in groups just so your grade can plummet (i had a high B before the 2 group papers and ended up with a C+). Avoid her if you can

By far one of the most challenging classes, yet one of the most rewardind classes I have ever had. If you are a lazy person, don't take her class because you have to be focused on getting your work done and getting it in on time. If you do this, you'll br fine. I got an A, and the majority of the class got A's or B's.

Ridiculous. She makes English a lot more difficult than it needs to be. I've never really been a huge fan of English as a class, and this class makes me dislike the subject even more. Her class is doable if you turn everything in on time, but it's basically a waste of your life. Do yourself a HUGE favor and take a different professor if you can.
Okay. so I am still in her class in the second semester and boy can I say that I am regretting ever signing up for her class. None of the wokr so far is relevant and she is extremely confusing. She also likes to post things on the internet the day before it's due saying that it needs to get done. I take my education seriously and am not a slaker!
Just dont take her class. She is unclear about everything that needs to get done and assigns everything last minute. save yourself the time from all of the useless busy work she LOVES to assign. I absolutely regret taking it. She seems very kind and intelligent but doesnt seem to have good teaching skills. Just dont do it!
GREAT EXPECTATIONS. You use and waste more ink and paper in her class printing out a lot of paper. EVERYTHING is emphasized to perfection, MLA especially. If you are a perfectionist or a masochist asking for a "literal" challenge, she's your new friend. Everyone else WILL heed the warnings, lest you fear no academic death by English. Beware BEWARE!

Not an Easy A by any means! She gives a TON of work with her writing assignments and is a very sarcastic/passive aggressive teacher. Nice lady in person, but gives LOADS of work for this class. Each paper has a rough draft that you have to revise twice. She gives extra credit for going to the writing center though. LOTS of group work ESP thelastpap
She is very difficult and is not very hlepful because Mrs. S is EXTREMElY UNCLEAR with all the directions she gives. She also grades on personal opinion for writting, not the structure. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
Honestly i consider myself a decent student and im telling you if you have the chance to take a 7 am class or this one i would take the 7am class. teacher is very nice dont get me wrong but she is very unclear about assignments, i always felt like she was telling us one thing and expecting another.

Despite what everyone says, she is a good teacher, she just challenges you to write. If you ever need help, she is very willing to help you in her office hours and after class. I took her for ENC 1101 and now taking her for ENC 1102. This class is challenging and can be time consuming, but not impossible.

Most awful teacher ever. The woman convinced me to scour through Rate My Professor comments from now on. She almost made me change majors.
1101 as well. Never been the best of students but she challenged me to improve my writing and I managed to get mainly As on my papers. If you have a past of BSing your papers, then you are gonna have a hard time since you will be challanged. I managed to get through this class and I've gotten A's on every other paper for other classes since.
You will get the grade that you deserve in this class. If you work hard for professor schutz, she will work hard for you. I considered myself one of her most qualified students in the subject of Composition but received a B only because that is how hard I worked in the class. A great professor that inspired me to pursue a career in writing.

Wow, this was without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. Throughout my entire life, I've never had a teacher this confusing, unhelpful, and discouraging. You won't understand anything she says and when you ask for clarification she is just going to criticize you for not paying attention. The problem isn't difficult material, it's her.

Run and run fast. She is horrible. Has a horrible attitude and will make you feel like an idiot for getting answers wrong or for asking for clarification. Would not suggest taking her. Will definitely not take her ENC 1102 class.
I was absent the 1st Friday class of the entire semester because I had a 103 fever, could hardly move much less go to class. An assignment was due in that class so I emailed her about turning it in over email rather than in class, didn't get back to me 'til the Monday, and refused to accept a doctor's note or my assignment. Terrible, don't take.
i will never ever take this class, i will just want to get rid of it, this teacher suck so bad that i totally lost my hope in English.
I didn't think her class was as bad as these other people make it seem. She gave feedback that I thought was clear enough to improve upon, but she did make you work hard. Not the easiest class in the world if you don't keep up with the daily journals and such. Stay on schedule and you'll do fine.
