She's a nice professor but for 100 level class its a lot of work. Papers, oral presentations. On top of that she doesn't teach the class. She assigns chapters for the students to teach as a group orally. She only taught maybe three classes. She' nice,
wright is nice, i might not take her again. lots of work for the class, she can be vague, subjective. she doesn't really teach much (why would you when you could make the class do that for you??)
She is very knowledgeable of the course material; Responds to emails fully and promptly; A very strict grader
What a horrible teacher! Wait.. you have to *teach* something to be qualified as a teacher. She's totally unspecific but still expects you to do everything exactly as she wants. Don't take her unless you want to leave every class with a headache.
shes so awesome. if you go by the rules youll do really well. almost everything is turned in using web ct and theres plenty of time. when you present a speech present LOUD and youll do juuust fine.
shes the best teacher i had so far.
SHe's awesome.. makes you love the subject and perks up your day! though its a lot of work for a 100 level class, she makes it fun and worth it! one of the best professor's i ever got.. oh yes, it isnt an easy A with her though!
Don't be fooled, this is not a good teacher. She is very subjective. I would only recommend her to people I didn't like. She doesn't teach at all - half of the material goes uncovered.
Best English Teacher I've Ever Had, actually made English Fun and enjoyable.
Professor Wright is the best teacher ever! I've had her for two semesters in a row. She understands the students. She doesnt feed you information, but instead, she drives it out of you! I recommend this teacher to everyone. She has a great personality.
Ms. Wright was always there to lend a helping hand when needed. She understands the students and brings her professionalism down to the students' level when needed. A great teacher and very nice.
Taken in the summer. She is a very strict teacher. Also, very friendly. The class is was very fast paced, but if you do everything on time you should be fine. Does lecture, but most of the class was not in the book. Hard but fair teacher.
Prof. Wright is a very nice person! She's so easy to talk to.Just show her that UR working hard and u will be fine.Make sure u do ALL the presentation. If u do that u will never fail the class.Midterm test and Final exam don't really mean anything in her class!
Professor Wright is a nice person, but I really don’t think she is the best teacher I have ever had. She is very strict about turning things on time (esp. when emailing her with stupid stuffs). She is also not very clear in her requirements, so be VERY careful!!! Also, she gives you hints on what
A very cool teacher to have even though you are not majoring in Communication. Her group activites were very interesting and entertaining. She kinda grades hard on Speeches but not a whole lot. I highly recommend this teacher to anyone who is required to take COMM 100
She is great and gets the students involved. Yes, there is a lot of work and her tests are hard, but aren't we in college to learn stuff and be challenged? C'mon!
Plays favortism with students and is NOT clear in some of her assignments. Don't let her sweet sounding voice fool you... :(
BEWARE! Terrible teacher. Plays favorites, very unclear, difficult tests, VERY nit-picky about every single detail, and if you're not on her good side, she can be really rude. Watch out for this teacher.
very good for comm 100 :)
She is very nice and very helpful. She makes her class interesting and is always willing to spend exta time explaining things to you. If you have a chance to have her as a professor YOU WANT HER
She is a very fair and helpful teacher. She's laid back and funny and i really enjoyed her class. The tests aren't hard if you take the time to study, because they're pretty straight forward.

Dr. Wright is nice but very demanding. There is A LOT of work in this class. Be prepared to work your ass off for a good grade. If you don't like group projects then I would not take this class. There is only a midterm and final to worry about, but there are assignments due almost everyday. I got an A, but i worked for it.
Dr. Wright has great spunk and is very personable. However, she is OCD on attendance and participation.. because of that, this is not a class you want to skip often. Easy class if you keep up with the reading. There is a presentation and 3 tests, which aren't hard if you study. 12 article critiques due on the readings, about one due per week.
Pr.Wright is awesome. A reaally wonderfull person inside the classroom and outside. The class was extremely fun and innovative. She Rocks!!!!
Dr. Wright is full of personality and easily entertains her students with her great sense of humor. This class does involve a lot of group work but the tests are not difficult to study...she even has test reviews online. Show up as much as possible and you'll do well.
Wright actually makes the class fun because she lets her students speak up and share their experience. Tests are not difficult but show up for class due to group meetings and info. on assignments.
I think she is one of the best teachers I've ever had..and I don't mean the easiest. She requires a lot of work but she is more than fair. Tests are easy, but show up and show up on time! I've had her twice and have gotten a B each time...and I'm not the best student!
Dr. Wright is nice. She is a hard grader and expects A LOT of you. I had her for comm320 too. Her tests are easy as long as you study the book and the notes. I think she does choose favorites though. She is very picky about writing. I took both 401 and 320 and got an A and a B. Just make sure you check your writing throughly!!!!
Most caring teacher I have ever had!!
Dr. Wright: a purveyor of profound profesionalism. Despite the demands of the course, Dr. Wright inspired my fellow classmates and I to excell and complete every assignment promptly. She cares about her students and is never condescending as long as you do your work an are professional. She's quite sharp and brilliant. I highly recommend taking t
She's probably one of the most fun professors I've ever had. She gets the entire class involved, grades very easy, and puts detailed notes of the chapter on the power-point presentations. The exams are tough, but she makes every class entertaining and worthwhile.
Awesome professor. She has a great sense of humor and really enjoys what she does. She is by far my favorite professor at Mason so far. Public speaking is not my thing but she always made it fun. Go to class!!
Dr. Wright isn't all that she's made out to be. She played favorites with the class and was pretty picky for no darn reason(it's COMM, who wants to be there?) I didn't do bad on my speeches but she was so pedantic and gave me really low grades. I got an A on the midterm and final but wound up w/ a C for the course. She's not that great...
By far my favorite professor... she's very affable and treats her students very well. There was a lot of reading and writing, but overall, it was completely worth it. I highly recommend this class to anyone!
Highly organized and very helpful in creating resumes and interview skills. easy to talk to and she loves to joke around. follow exactly what she wants on her grading sheets which are on her website, she can be nit picky at times. I enjoyed the class (received a-)
She was the reason I switched majors to Communication. Pure delight. Best professor I've hard. Always there to talk to. Understanding and fair. Taking her again in the Fall. Highly recomend.
If you go to her for help, guaranteed A. You will learn everything you need to know to be successful in getting a job.
Professor Wright is fun and uplifting. She is very nice and helpful. Tests and projects are easy. Only complaint is that I received high marks on all speeches, mid term, and final, but ended up with a C+ at the end of term. Came off a bit confused, however, she is definitely a worth while teacher.
shes an amazing professor so funny always makes class fun the only class i looked foward to going to at 9 in da morning
Class was easy, and Prof. Wright is good, however her grading is a little confusing. I also got high marks on all speeches and quizzes but received a "C" in the class. I e-mailed her and she didn't get back to me.
She is a great person, but I don't think she takes her classes very seriously. She plays favorites and is kind of forgetful about assignments. If you go to class and offer some comments on her tangents, you'll be in her good graces. There's a lot of assignments and if you take the class seriously, you'll do great.
She definitely makes a fun and interesting class. This professor will have you laughing the whole time. Grades a bit tough on papers. Attendance and participation is required.
Eh, she was nice but talks off topic a lot and picks favorites. She was definitely a nice prof. and cares about her work and students. Tests are really hard, must read and study A LOT. I probably wouldn't take her again but I am still undecided. Can be fun, but like I said..its annoying when she wastes time talking off topic
One word: wonderful! Dr. Wright knows her subject, is extremely responsive, fair, and is willing to help. She is extraordinarily kind, and she makes class fun. Do not miss an opportunity to take one of her courses and learn from the best. Attend class, participate, and hand in your work. She returns it promptly. This prof. cares about her students!
This is the second time I've had Prof. Wright and I can say I really really regret taking her this time. All she does is go off topic and talk to her favorites in the class. Some of the students she even texts on a regular basis which I find to be weird... I put effort into this class and I'm hoping to get a B or a C.
Prof Wright is NOT organized, and expects you to complete assignments correctly even though she gives vague instructions. Gave out a million unneccessary handouts, tests were from the book but we never went over the book, and she had mini temper-tantrums in class. This class was boring and common sense. Prof was friendly, but would not take again.
Hilarious and really nice! Class is a lot of fun, but be sure to read the textbook before every test. She takes attendance, but it's fun to be there!
Dr. Wright's exams are tough, you HAVE to read the textbook, and you HAVE to show up for class. (she takes attendance) For the most part, she answers emails gladly, and makes the class seem shorter than it really is. She lets you out early, too. Overall, she knows her stuff, and she is a wonderful professor.
Great teacher, had her a couple times and I can honestly say that she's one of my favorites at mason. Now that I'm graduating, I WISH I could take another one of her classes :( Just show her that you care and you'll do well.
I love Dr. Wright. One of my favorite teachers at GMU. Go to class, she always takes attendance, and all her tests are multiple choice. BUY THE BOOK no matter what course (200, 202, 320, ect.) because all her tests come STRAIGHT from it. You actually need to study for the tests, but the material isn't hard and a A/B is not hard to get.
Dr Wright is a very relaxed professor who makes learning fun. Read the text book, show up to class, and look over the study guide for exams. There's a 6-7 page paper assignment regarding your daily use of media. If you give detailed answers to her questions guaranteed A.
D Wright is the best!!! I went to Milan for study abroad with her, and I loved every minute of it. She is so accessible, funny, helpful, and really cares about every student. I highly recommend any class that she teaches because I guarantee it will be your favorite class!
I liked her at first because shes personable. I was very sick through the semester and missed 3 classes. They were all excused with doctors notes. I remember I was even driven to school, sick as a dog, to turn in a paper and she told me I could go home. I ended up getting a C+ for the semester which confused me. Emailed her about it and she claimed I really had earned a B, but because I was absent I ended up with a C+. Really? Ugh. I reminded her she excused me but that didn't change anything.
D Wright is amazing! Great prof and great advisor. :)
Class was pretty easy. Do assignments on time and put in effort. Learned a lot and she was helpful and provided great instructions for the assignments. Was prompt in responding to messages too.
Dr.Wright was my professor for the study abroad program in Milan, Italy. She really does expect you to give 100% (even in another country) but she is friendly and will help you if you need it. The study abroad program was very hands-on with a lot of work that was "review" but overall it was definitely a learning experience.
Dr.W is a wonderful woman who will make a 9:00 am class lively. She's willing to help you if you show her that you're putting in the work. She's quite soon on getting back to you about questions or doubts. She makes the class interesting too! Participate, put in some effort, attend class and you're good!
READ THE BOOK. It's actually really fascinating. This is coming from a comm major, but... Yeah. A LOT is based off of moderate reading. BUT, Wright is FABULOUS. So so funny and nice. She's also my advisor, gets back to emails quickly, and is just generally interesting; even at 9:00am. Helpful, accommodating, hope to have as a prof again!
Overall this is an easy class. Just make sure that you complete all of her random assignments. There is 1 in class quiz, 1 online quiz, and 1 online short answer due every week. This may not sound like a lot but they add up quick and are easy to forget. Not my favorite professor but she isn't terrible. Goes off topic a LOT and at random times.
I was really excited to take this class. I don't know if she was having a bad semester because most of the ratings here are great, but she's one of the worst professors I've had in a while. Terrible in replying to emails, EXTREMELY random and confusing, and it felt like she had no idea what she was talking about 80% of the time.
Absolutely awful. Attendance was mandatory however I learned nothing other than what youtube videos to never watch again. The online quizzes relate to nothing taught in class. I would not recommend for any Comm majors.
I'm glad Dr. Wright is finally getting the reviews she deserves. She is an AWFUL professor. I used to think she was great, until I actually took her class. She is VERY random and goes off topic a lot, but then decides she wants to have stupid pop quizzes every other week. She also plays favorites and has no specific guidelines for anything.
This is the hardest Comm class that communication majors have to take. It's full of theory which has to be interpreted. She is really funny and a good teacher if you like her funny and slightly confusing lecture style. She is very helpful but you MUST go to EVERY class. Tests are VERY hard. Study and don't skip, you'll get an A.
This was my introduction to Communication and she made me get excited for my major. Don't skip class, and sometimes she'll give extra credit just for showing up and breathing. Actually read the book, it's pretty interesting and essential for understanding. She's funny and does go off topic sometimes but it's not a big deal. Would take again.
Dr. Wright is by far one of the best professors I've had at George Mason. She's very passionate about her field and sincerely wants all of her students to do well in her class. Show up, participate and do the assignments. It's really as easy as that.
RUN FOR THE HILLS. Took her for both 200 and loved her then 320 and it was a hot mess. I really respected Dr. Wright when I had her for 200, but that has changed. She waste class time, unorganized, and favors students. Come to class for attendance & tune out. She doesn't let you use technology even though we are adults, so bring a pen and paper.
Prof. Wright is cool, I had her for a 9am but I never felt strongly inclined to skip. She is easy to listen to and most of her assignments were easy if you follow the directions. She does take attendance so make sure to go for free points that save your grade-tests are kinda hard so be sure to read the textbook.
I took COMM 200 online. I really liked the video lectures. She makes it interesting. Most weeks you read a chapter or two, watch video lectures, and take a quiz. The quizzes aren't hard if you paid attention. It is timed so don't try to skip the reading. There are a few research assignments. I felt they were a little tougher.
Class is easy as long as you read the book. She's funny and if you need help she's happy to help you
She was very nice and helpful.
Great class. It was interesting and she was always eager and upbeat. Just put in a little effort and you can easily pass the class with an A
Prof. Wright was great. We only had one major paper, a midterm and a final. She was super great and as long as you took good notes and payed attention to the lecture, you were good. She recommends reading the book, but skimming it everyone in awhile left me with an A in the course by the end of the semester. She's really easy going and insightful.
She is lovely and so helpful. She will hold you accountable of your grades, but what upper level professor won't. I have taken her more than once and always passed her class with enjoyment.
This was one of the worst college professors I have ever had. She is incapable of giving people A's. Her grading makes absolutely no sense. You can work really hard and if you're not one of her favorites you wont get a good grade. Just listen to this review and save yourself the trouble of taking her.
Dr. Wright is a great teacher! This class was really interesting and I loved the books we had to read for this course. The commercial project was my favorite! You better come to class or you will fail, she is very entertaining and a great teacher! She is also an advisor and does everything in her power to make sure you graduate! She is a great!
Dr. Wright was fun and energetic! She was always happy to see the students and was enthusiastic about what she was teaching. There was a tremendous amount of reading. You can't pass that class without it! There are weekly quizzes and multiple group projects. There was a lot of wasted time, but overall it was a reasonable and interesting class.
This was the first time 430 was offered online and Dr. Wright did amazing! I had been absolutely dreading taking 430, but she was awesome. There is A LOT of work, but she gives great feedback and is so helpful. Read the textbook and understand the key concepts and you'll do great.
I do not recommend taking this course over the summer. It is way to much content to load into 5 weeks. This course will drive you insane because it's 4-5 chapters a week with assignments, quizzes, and exams for each. Dr. Wright is knowledgeable and caring. I recommend taking this course the traditional way.
For an online class there was an unnecessary amount of work from time to time. I was confused most of the time on her explanations of the discussion boards. Don't take this your last semester of your senior year!
I hated taking this class online. This class would be 10x in person. There are SO many assignments, not hard but tedious. Get ready for SOOO much group work that makes you want to cry. There is a quiz every week from beginning to end, not hard, doable. She tends to be a tough grader when you don't follow directions. Overall, the course was okay.
Dr. Wright is hands down one of the best profs I've had at GMU. She cares about what grade her students get and will always help you if you need it. Assignments are heavy in this course but if you stay on top of it, you won't have a single problem.
Dr. wright truly cares about your grade and is more than willing to help. Multiple group discussion boards and assignments each week and must read textbook to pass the tests. Assignments arent hard, just tedious. If you keep up with the work you can get a good grade! Final project is easy but time consuming.
She's fine. I wouldn't take her again, but she is a nice person. Her class gives so much tedious work. It really isn't hard, but its a pain because you just always have to keep an eye on the syllabus. A lot of annoying academic nonsense is the best way to sum it up, not awful but not fun. Pass
Prof. Wright has a nice sense of humor and is quirky enough to keep you entertained. She makes the information fun to learn and gives you enough work to keep your grade up. She does have an irrational attendance policy. There are NO excused absences. You get "punished" for missing class. Hopefully you won't have any family emergencies arise.
I still don't know what to think about this class. I signed up for a class on persuasion, but she changed it at the last minute to be about propaganda. I would have preferred more emphasis on persuasion, and less on Nazi Germany. The class was a lot of work. The tests were unreasonable. She was a fair grader on written assignments though.
The syllabus is straightforward and she's easy to reach via email, the most difficult aspect of her class is the tests. It's important to thoroughly study for them since they cover numerous chapters and course content. Her grading on other assignments are fair game, just do what is required and you'll do great on them. And yes, textbooks are needed
Prof Wright is a decent professor. She's passionate about her work and is overall a nice person. Pretty harsh grader for the speeches though. The homework is easy, speech prep isn't too bad. The class is an easy A as long as you prep for the speech. She provides very helpful feedbacks and responds to emails immediately. Attendance is graded.
Catherine Wright is a very outgoing and charismatic professor. I enjoyed being in her class and she forms unique a bond with each of her students, but she certainly does play favorites. All the comm teachers are really the same in terms of assignments, so I can't judge difficulty on the class based on her. Please don't procrastinate in this class..
Easy class as long as you work on the assignments and get them in on time. Make sure to keep an eye on your individual presentation and work on that.
Super nice professor. None of the coursework is hard, just tedious. Took this class during the summer and it was too much work for 5 weeks, but reasonable during fall/spring. Feedback was never given but not a harsh grader. The class is test heavy and exams are tough. Got A's on 30 assignments but still ended with A- with every exam landing 84-86%.
Professor Wright is amazing, I recommend her for any Communications course at GMU. She accommodated my speech disability perfectly and I was able to be successful in this course because of her. 10/10 would take her again.
i love her so much. she is so responsive and has the best class in the world
You can get an A in her class but my god nothing makes sense. Her online course format is unnecessarily confusing and her instructions for assignments are completely unclear. I didn't even know if I was doing the weekly assignments right. She responds fast to emails and is friendly but little to no organization in her class whatsoever.
Online async course was a lot of work but she made it interesting and fun. As long as you put in some work, watch videos and read chapters then you are good to go. She was very fun to learn with.
She's extremely condescending and made me feel like I was in an elementary school class. Extremely tough grader on presentations even if you follow the rubric while putting it together. Makes you feel small and silly even as an adult student in my early thirties might be better for 18 year olds.
She was so amazing. Her course is engaging and she is such a funny and attentive professor. I would recommend her to anyone in the communication major. Admittedly she can be a tough grader, but is willing to have a progressive and helpful dialogue about it. Loved her class!
Professor Wright's class has a decent workload, but with consistent effort, you can nail the assignments and exams. The textbook is essential, and Unstuck ai can help streamline your study process. Overall, an engaging course if you stay on top of the material.
Professor Wright is knowledgable, professional, kind, and caring. She has her students best interests in mind, I would always prefer to take her class over any others.
Dr. Wright's class was well thought out and well organized. Although it was an online asynchronous class, she was always willing to answer any and all questions over email. COMM200 was very quiz-heavy, questions can be rather specific, but they're all open note, which is helpful. Even online, I could tell how much passion Dr. Wright has!
