Bad Teacher do not get her all the students that were in our class dropped because she is very hard

Dropped the first day. She was 30 minutes late the first day and when she showed up, she had a very bad attitude and wasn't encouraging. She just automatically talked to us as if we were going to fail her class. She said we'd be lucky to get a C. This Teacher is not recomended. Alot of students dropped.

I took Ms. Caty for 1302 and she is a great teacher. However, she grades the paper very hard. She is very peaky on the paper. I had to write 4 easy. And yes you have to read. :(

I found it so funny how she would scold people who were late to class. A couple of days later, she was consistently late to class. She's not very helpful at all. If you have a question, she will (more than likely) tell you to look at the syllabus and that's that. She also doesn't give much feed-back. Would not recommend at all.

Hard for no reason

She grades papers extremely hard !! I honestly suggest you pick another professor if this is you are returning to school from a break. she grades on a college level and nothing below that. If you are absent she will fail you if it occurs to many times. Class discussions are great at times however expect to work hard.

I loved to write and had no problem writing warm up ESSAYS in the begging of EVERY class period, but then again I was fresh out of high school. This Professor supposedly already has a Novel out in the world and expects students to do sooo much and beyond. Be aware, I received a C in this class, But received an A with another Professor. Be careful!

She is a veryyy tough grader. The slightest misktakes will cause you to fail. I wrote a three page essay and she gave me an F for using conjunctions. There's no way you can check your grading online or anything.

Doesn't give enough feedback for you to improve on your work. During class discussions she'd get upset whenever someone didn't give the exact answer she was looking for. You can't go to her for help because she gets mad and makes you feel as if you should already know everything. I do NOT recommend you take her unless you're an english major.

The professor expects you to know everything there is about writing a research essay. Literally told us to look at a text book and just write the research paper from there. Hardly takes anytime to teach the class about writing and improving our writing skills. 90% percent of of her lessons were just reading and what were our thoughts on the topic.

This professor teaches with no emotion, kept a straight face the whole semester and is very rude, she is very boring and makes you not want to come to class. She grades harshly, you cant even keep up with your grade in her class because you can't access it and she wont tell you what your grade is. I would strongly advise you NOT to take her class.

We were going to A PANDEMIC. ALL classes were online and she still did not feel any sympathy. She just expected us to know what to do. Had a smart mouth with us. And when some assignments were to express our opinion, she even said length did not matter, she still would give me a 60 on it. Worst professor ever!!!

Class was suppose to be a hybrid class however it ended up being online class because of Covid 19. However professor does not do lectures or video conference on zoom. You would think a professor would want to interact with her students for English nope dont expect that. She doesnt take attendance also she opens assignments the day they are due.

This online class would probably have been a lot easier if we had to participate in person, since there are no lectures or textbooks to reference from. All assignments are unlocked the same day that they are due, so there is not a love of time to complete the assignment to her standards, which I could not meet. I had to drop the class immediately.

She is a very tough grader & she does not interact with students. There are no zoom classes or calls & if you email her about the work be prepared to be let down and disappointed .. Definitely would never take her again.

Professor Clay is not a good online professor. She didn't do much teaching. She was not accessible and does not seem to actually care about her students. She grades every single letter of your papers and reflections. If you are not 100% perfect with everything, you will not pass. I learned nothing from her class.

She is way too picky and if you make 1 grammatical error, you automatically get a B. She is nice, but I definitely WOULD NEVER take her class again. Choose ANY other professor. Do not take her class. In all of my English classes Ive ever take in high school and college Ive had at least an A- but this class Ive gotta all Cs or bellow except one assignment which was a B-. She nitpicks every little thing in essays. She gives lots of feedback but its not very helpful.

She is the worst teacher Ive ever encountered. I had a 4.0 and was an English tutor, still never received anything higher than a 75. She opens assignments the day theyre due, provides no rubric or clear expectations, grades with little to no feedback, and feedback she does provide is vague and unhelpful. I have never struggled with a professor, even with those with low RMP scores. While she is nice during lectures, the work done during class is not counted for a grade. You are graded by a few assignments; she is a TOUGH grader. Her feedback is unhelpful. She gave me positive feedback, but low scores. She is also very rude when responding to emails.

This professor does things very last minute. She posted our final the same day it was due, then changed it, changed the original questions into different ones to put on the study guide, without saying anything. She grades very roughly and isn't very considerate. I did badly on one essay and went from an A to an F, I've been failing ever since, RUN!

The teacher does not allow you to redo any work. The grade you get is final and she will give corrections after but does not give you a chance to correct it for a better grade. She will give you no more than a D if your paper has more than 1 error. Emailing her doesn't help much too. Do not take this English teacher, there are better options.

If you are not already good at writing before taking her class you will learn nothing and likely do poorly. She does not give A's and in fact most people will fail. She takes weeks to grade papers and gives virtually zero feedback, on top of that she believes she is holier than thou.

If you take your education seriously DO NOT TAKE this professor. She absolutely swamps her class with extensive papers without enough time for completion. The most useless teacher i have ever had, teaches english but her feedbacks are of a child. Very careless and it feels like she is teaching as a chore.

I am taking an online course and instead of teaching us how to properly write, she will nitpick at everything you do and only post presentations that provide little to no help. She gives the vaguest feedback but will drop your grade by at least 10 points.

This is the worst educator I've had during my learning career. She is a slow grader, a tough grader, had a 4-submission period where the assignment opens on Monday so you cannot begin early, did not include the book in the first day inclusive access, and having files for assignments not in the assignments. Please spare yourself from this professor.

Her "lectures" are boring to the point where at least 2 students were snoring while she was talking. Also, you won't learn anything because she talks about Black history, woman's rights, and history over all and doesn't actually teach any English.

Professor Clay is the worst ENGL professor to be hired at HCC. If you make a mistake on assignments in her class, she will take you off a lot of points; so taking any of her courses would only lead you to failure. This is a great reminder that you do not wait until the last minute to enroll to ENGL courses at HCC and choose other, better professor!

She was a tough professor that I have ever taken. She graded very tough and was strict. She did not explain things very well and was always giving so much reading assignment. I know I did very well on my essays and even the students who worked HCC who helps with tutoring proof read it. But I got a C for my final and it brought my grade down to a C.

Cathy Clay is a disgrace to the administration of HCC. She does not belong there, or in any teaching platform. I really wish HCC would do something about her. No amount of warning is enough to prepare for her class and students should not have to deal with someone like her. We should all come together to do something about this.

Cathy Clay likes to play God in class, she will make you feel helpless and show that she has the upper hand in matters concerning grades. BUT KARMA WILL CATCH UP WITH HER SOON. Amen. I just know that she will suffer the consequences of making so many SO MANY students struggle mentally and emotionally in her class.

Took her course Spring 2022 with about 20 other students at the start of the semster, but by the end we were reduced to about 5 and we all failed. Her grading system is disgustingly biased. This professor's class is easy you would think . She rarely has anything productive for us to do in class . We started journals to turn in , but by the third week she stopped writing them . She grades based off how she is feeling at the moment which always seems to be a grouchy mood . I would stay away .

Professor Clay is an EXTREMELY tough grader. Infamously she will declare on the first day of class that she does not believe in extra credit or late work. Assignments are few and far between but missing or failing one assignment sets you up to struggle for the rest of the class. Emailing the professor will rarely result in help either. Good luck

this is by far the worst professor, she grades with her feelings doesn't give extra credit and also accuses you of using Ai without any proof. Made us start a journal claiming it would be 20% of our grades but in the end no mark was given. Also made us get a textbook worth a lot without any use. Don't bother taking her because she'd fail you.

I have a C (77%), the highest score for this class. She graded your papers based on her mood but not those criteria she told you. I was struggling and asking for a tutor, but I still got 70 for the research paper, the highest score she had put for this class. What an awful education and professor!!! Wasting money and time for nothing!

This professor is an extremely tough grader, few assignments so it is hard to catch up on your grade. She will make you handwrite essays, and even then will flag your writing for "not writing in the same font" when it's literally the same "handwriting".

Throughout the class, I attempted to seek more thorough feedback from Professor Clay. However, she was reluctant. She said that the maximum grade one could receive in an essay is a 70. Her rubric is unclear and she will be irritated if one questioned her methods or grading rubric. Don't take!!

Before I dropped the class, I had received only one B, everything else was below. This would be understandable if I were giving her sub-par work, but I wasn't.

She might have the support of the HCC HR team or some financial leverage regarding her employment at HCC, as I see no other reason why someone so inexperienced and morally depraved would be entrusted with the responsibility of thousands of students' education and grades. One day, when I have the means, I will hire a lawyer and take her to court.

I took this course as a high school senior. I understand that college courses are challenging, but this one was difficult for no reason, especially for someone still in high school.The work was overwhelming, and the expectations seemed unrealistic. She forget a lot of us are high school students trying to balance other classes and responsibilities.

do not take this Professor, she will accused students of using AI with out proof even of your work results says 0 online sources. will cause anxiety to all her students. she has connection/friend of her higher ups so reporting her will do no good. karma is running to her now. No wonder a lot of students do not like her it shows on her ratings.

I would not recommend this professor to anyone. She never responds, laughs in your face, and does not care about her students at all. She grades so harshly and gives barely any feedback. Avoid!

She's so mean she will drop you off without even informing I would never take her class again I showed her my appointment letter still she choose to do this I hate her fr all my fee got wasted because of her ****

She's the worst, accused me of using Ai with no PROOF, she's no help. I don't like her, how is she still working at HCC??

This is my first time leaving a review, don't take class with her I don't how she's still a professor at hcc, throughout my study in colleges this is the worst professor have ever meant she needs to be fired.

Docked 40 points for two tiny errors, clearly under the impression that we're here to produce lost works of Shakespeare instead of passing an online summer English I class.

This professor DOES NOT TEACH. I understand it's an online course but I've had online courses where the teacher at least left video lectures or detailed expectations. She just throws you assignments and on top of that is such a difficult grader. Claims AI usage where there's none and is just all round mean. DO NOT TAKE HER.

It is so bad I want to give her a 0 but that is not possible so I'll give her.. a 1.

I am an honest student I do not use AI but she falsely accused me and a lot of other student of plagiarism. She takes way too long to grade assignments just to give everyone Fs. She is lazy and miserable. Not only a TERRIBLE PROFESSOR but also a TERRIBLE PERSON. She would probably accuse this comment of ai and plagerism too.

I was never good at English. But she's probably the worst english professor i have ever had grades extremely tough and would remove points over small things. Do not take her class i would have 4.0 if it wasn't for her class. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HER

This class have by far the hardest class, this professor does not care about you or your grade, she claims everything you submit is AI even when there is no proof. She offers no help or gives proper feedback on assignments. Other students have reported her to the school and they don't seem to care either about her lack of support in this class.

MY WORST NIGHTMARE

Worst experience ever. She grades your papers like you're a PhD holder or something. Hardly offers any room for improvement considering her grading is extensively difficult to understand. I am literally an A-star student for every course, and quite honestly, my composition skills are above average, but she gave me a C!

This lady does not care about her students. Her grading is terrible and unfair just stay far away from her. Especially if you are a dual credit student so hard for no reason.

SHE IS NOT FLEXABLE

Horrible! Very few assignments. Grading took forever!!!! I had to prove many times that I didn't use AI , and if I hadn't printed my readings and analyzed them, thank God, I would have failed!! I was smart enough for that. I always aced through ENGL and this course questioned my sanity. Take Camisha Broussard for ENGL 2333, she's way better!

Do not take her unless u want to retake the course again. Tough grader. Avoid at all costs
