Great teacher! I learned a lot. her lectures and notes are very clear. She gives many practice test to take home which are very helpful. Study power points and read text.
She is clear and explains well. She is a great professor and very high recommended.
I didnt buy the book. Went to every class session and took down every thing she said and everything on the powerpoint and got 100 % on every single test. REALLY EASY and REALLY FUN. Take her, you wont regret the class or your A
shes no nice, shes also very helpful.the text book required is pretty pricey and students wont use it much. the material for the test will be on the slides she provies during the lecture
She is an excellent prof. Good teacher, very clear. Good teacing materials, explains everything till she knows u understand. Very patient too.
no lots of credits. She will give us pop quizes and in-class assignment. Her teaching is ok, she can said lots of example.
She's a great teacher! She keeps you generally interested in the material with her quirky stories and input here and there. I thought her class was wonderful and I highly recommend having her as an instructor.
Extremely organized and helpful professor. She is knowledgeable and clear on her lecture. I changed my major to Psychology because she really made her class interesting.Pay attention on her lecture and powerpoint !
she's cool. fairly easy. attend class and pay attention and you will pass. test are pretty easy. 4 non-cumulative exams. take her.
Cleveland is a great psychology professor. Easy to understand and gives tests based on what she has lectured on. Gives great examples with stories or videos. I didn't use the book and still got an A, so it's up to you. This is going to be her second year, if it's your major I recommend her.
she is very helpful doesnt use textbook much. she does alot of lecture notes but you can print them online. she is always there during her office hours to answer questions and respinds quicky to emails. i loved her class
easy. she gives a review sheet as a homeowrk the day before the test. there's pop quizes for pts and in class assignmetns and 4 tests. she also, gives extra credit. but, all her assignments including the test are ALL mutiple choice.
very hard
I'm taking Dr. Cleveland for Honors Psychology 2 and I have to say that she is a wonderful professor and very sweet and always there to help. Her class is a little difficult and challenging but then again it is an Honors course, but I like because I definitely like a challenge! I would recommend her to anyone.
Loooove this teacher!! don't need the book only the slides!!!! she is very optimistic and happy. pay attention and take good notes, you'll actuallyl learn something :)
very organized, fun class, fyi show up on time the first day if you're on the roster otherwise she'll drop you
Great Professor! Very helpful, understanding and it was such a pleasure being in her class. Just take notes and attend every class!! You'll do just fine! I highly recommend Dr. Cleveland! :)
My favorite teacher by far! Prof. Cleveland is an awesome teacher! she is very clear and fun. you do not need to buy the book because her tests are based on her power point lectures. if you don't like psychology take her class. if you love psychology or are interested in it you MUST take her class you wont regret it!
Extremely helpful and clear professor. Took the summer course, goes by super fast and if you just do a little work, it shouldn't be that difficult to get an A. I didn't buy the textbook, just took good notes and used her slides. Super nice and clear. Take her class :)
Very good teacher! All her test questions come from her slide which she make available online. She is very funny and interesting. I highly recommend her!!!
Prof. Cleveland is a wonderful teacher! I took her for Psych 2. She is super clear with her lectures. Attendance and good note taking is a must to get an A! Study the powerpoints and notes and you should be fine. I highly recommend people to take her :) You will learn a lot!
She's awesome. She is very helpful. You wont regret it if you take her class. You definitely gonna learn a lot.
I love this proffesor. I was scared of the class at first, but Dr.C made the material easy to understand. She likes questions. Her zombie movie clips are so much fun and helped me learn brain parts and what happens when they get damaged. ZOMBIES!!!!!
She is the greatest teacher at elac hands down!! she is the reason i switched majors!! you will not regreat this class. take notes and ask questions you will pass :D
I took notes, showed up everyday and took all her quizzes, never even opened the book, got an easy A. She will try very hard to help her students, more than happy to see them during office hours. Gives access to the slides she uses online, although taking notes of what she writes on the board is still pretty important. Gives quizzes often.
Awesome instructor! Funny as heck very interesting class didnt touch the book once! exams are straight from lectures! Would take her again in a heart beat
I was dropped for missing class 3x but I still recommend her. She posts study guides and slides on ACE so be sure to print them for class. Very helpful teacher.
Her tests are based on her slides that are available on ACE, She locks the door so make sure to get there on time and use the restroom prior to class. She explains the material well, never provided extra credit. She's friendly and usually smiling. Don't use textbook at all in class, Most will pass
She's an amazing teacher, just put in the work like you're supposed to and you will do excellent. I guarantee it. Textbook is never used, all pop quizzes, chapter tests, and exams are based off the lecture notes!! SO take GOOD notes!!!!!
Awesome teacher highly recommend
The class is hard but only 3 people dropped. She goes over hard material alot. She grades the big paper in 4 sections with tons of feedback. I've never had a teacher who does that. I actually learned how to write. My friends who took this class and transferred said they know much more than other students starting at the university.
Research methods is a hard class. The concepts were difficult for me to learn and there was lots of writing in apa style. I didn't think I would pass but I hung in there and I'm glad I did. I still love psychology and I'm excited about transfering. Thank you Dr Cleveland! You got me through a scary class that I needed to transfer.
Psy 92 was an extremely difficult class. She wasn't ever clear on what she wanted and wasted a lot of time on other things besides our research paper. Tests aren't always easy. Don't ever miss her class cause she always assigns random classwork or pop quizzes. However, she's extremely nice and hysterical sometimes. She's hard to dislike though
Professor cleveland was funny and always happy, i emjoyed her class althought it was a lot of indormation to process.
Great professor who has a sense of humor and creativity which she uses in her lectures. However, her tests are pretty tricky and make sure to pay attention to every little details in the lectures and textbook. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take this class in short semesters since it's A LOT to memorize for tests.
She is AWESOME!!!! One of the best professors!!!
Her notes are so confusing, makes it super hard to study them at home. Not really clear with her teaching. Too much information to process and learn, her class is really hard in my opinion. Starts her lectures from the minute you walk in until it is time to leave don't ever expect to leave early from her class.
Dr. Cleveland is extremely smart! It can intimidate some people, but DO NOT BE intimidated. Ask her questions that interest you & she will give you every bit of detail she can provide you with. She is funny and loves to help her students. She may have a tighter bond w some because they constantly go to office hours BUT she always grades FAIRLY !!
Her class was very difficult, you should take notes and read, study every words on books and search online psycho knowledge, however, I work very hard and pass with A. I got every A in every class, I thought it was really hard class.
Cleveland is an awesome teacher! Funny as heck! This is a class you cannot be absent in because she gives random pop quizzes during her lectures. Also, the assignments she gives out CANNOT be turned in late, even if absent. For her tests, study the ppt and the notes she writes on the board tog. because she will try to trick you on tests. Take her!!
Cleveland is such an amazing professor! Her psych 02 class was pretty easy for a 5 week course. Maybe it was easy for me because the material stuck to me. Anyways, she's such an intellectual and sweet lady with a good sense of humor! You'll learn a lot from her, so take her! Wish I had her for more than just 5 weeks because she's just that great!
I took her for psych 1&2 and I must say... I don't think it could have gotten better. She loves to chit chat right before lecturing to lighten up the mood. However, her lectures are long, and the doses of information may go in one ear and out the other. Oh, and do not get the book. You won't need it. She may say you do, but you really don't LOL.
Pay attention in class and you'll pass. She makes sure you are well prepared for tests.
Very fascinating class. Gave one extra credit assignment. What really impressed me was how she made sure everyone understood the material before she proceeded. If you study and ask questions if you have any then you should pass with a good grade. Although, PowerPoints were provided - I found the book to be invaluable for success.
She's awesome! She's funny and she gets along with all her students. She will remember your name by something about you. Her class is easy IF your there everyday, read and study. I highly recommend her, you'll love her class, I sure did.
She is by far the best professor I have ever had. She made me want to change my major to neuroscience/biopsych. hilarious and goofy. She really tries to make it as easy as possible to understand the material. You don't really need the book. Going to class is crucial and the practice test are exactly what she asks on the exams.
She is a really good professor, knows her stuff & is relatable. The 1st exam is the hardest, definitely study. The rest are not as difficult. Reading is key, however her power points get the job done, that is if you understand the material being taught in class. The book is broad, her notes are straight to the point. It was an enjoyable class.
She is nice and funny. Beware of POP QUIZZES! All tests are multiple choice. Extra credit available. Make sure you go to class, she explains concepts very well. Psych1 is overall an easy class except for a few concepts. Make sure you understand everything. She is willing to help you out if you have question. She locks the door so be on time!
Best instructor I've had at ELAC, I took her for 3 classes and she is very knowledgable and makes her lectures interesting. She's tough but will make you a great student. I am truly going to miss her classes.
Dr Celeveland, a real gem of a professor. Lectures are clear, slides are available and attendance counts. Summer session 5 weeks, 4 exams multiple choice, true and false question and a few short essays like questions and you answer them 2 sentences and a match diagram. Take her very educational and she's funny. She's an excellent professor.
Dr. Cleveland is a real gem of a professor. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. The only trick in this class is that her tests are kinda tricky and detailed. Pay attention carefully in class and study her lecture notes. She definitely makes you work for you grade. Make up points are really hard to come by, so TAKE THIS CLASS SERIOUSLY.
She's fantastic!!! You'll learn a lot, take her, she's hilarious. 10/10 recommend
A tough class but it helped me transfer and feel as good as the other UC students. I don't think I could have done it without Cleveland. She makes research interesting and is on your side. She's funny too!
Great professor! Her awesome personality makes the lectures so much fun! Beware of pop quizzes.
Prof. Cleveland is one of the best at ELAC she provides study guides for upcoming test, plus her lectures are very interesting and easy to understand !! I recommend her 10/10
Dr. Cleveland is the best there is at ELAC her classes are tough but she prepares her students more than enough for the quizzes. However, if you miss frequently you are bound to fail. I'm willing to pass on a future class if I can't enroll in one of her classes. She's simply the best!
Just took Dr. Cleveland over this winter session for psych2. Definitely need to be in this class for all days since its 4 days a week about 3hrs a day. Alot of material to go over; pop quizzes on material she lectures on, as well as videos she has on canvas. First test is the hardest, she said the average is 70, i got lower but managed an A.
I took her bio psych winter course and she was amazing. Shes very passionate about what she teaches and she has a super bubbly personality so her lectures were never a drag. Since the winter course obviously means a shorter semester, we didnt get to cover everything which kept the class pretty simple for the most part. I would definitey recommed.
Take her course! I did online and was very pleased with the structure. She is attentive and will email you quickly if you have any concerns. 1st test is the hardest but you can do it! Modules are clear and go over test topics. A very straightforward class that is easy to pass if you apply yourself.
If you are a psych major, probably you chose this major for the desire of helping people to overcome their struggles, but not for this professor. She makes your major choice to fail in perspective due to her lack of tolerance and flexibility. If you dont need her tolerance and understanding, its an easy class, otherwise take someone else.
Dr. Cleveland is the best. She stayed late at school to help me with some personal problems. Thank you for caring about me. (: You and your class helped me so much. I was able to make a good grade. I switched to psychology as a major because of her.
I took psychology 2 with her, to be honest, her class is really boring. This is not an easy A class, she gives pop quizzes so you have to study. Besides that, you have to be on time because she will take roll, and you cannot use your phone during class. I think she is a nice person but her class is not that interesting.
Oh my gosh never skip class. Take good notes. Make friends with everyone around you. Talk to them. Could not have done it without them. The experiment we did was fun & she provides pwrpoints & study guides on canvas. She helps a lot & gives resources on how to write your 10 page APA style paper. Ask questions! Study! Thank you Dr. Cleveland!!! FAVE
She's very enthusiastic with her teaching which I enjoyed. It may all seem overwhelming at times, but she constantly assures you that you'll be okay in the end (she was right). My only advice? Take notes diligently.
Prof Cleveland seems like a dedicated, cheery, and sweet person but she made bio-psych so boring, it made me want to switch majors because I lost my interest in it. The subject overall is tedious but I feel like her way of teaching it isn't the best. I felt like she would get distracted easily and ramble on a lot and her notes were redundant.
Professor Cleveland is a real sweet and genuine person. Very interpersonal with her students and honestly one of the best professors I've taken at Elac. She provides study guides and many other resources you can use to study for the exams. If you complete the study guides and skim through the book, you will ace the tests.
Bio Psych was definitely a tedious subject to learn at times, but Prof Cleveland was a great instructor. NOTES are going to be your best friend, and only lectures on what you'll be tested on. She does offer extra credit and does look out for her student's needs. Overall, a great professor that I will be taking again next semester!
Great professor if you dont have a passion for psych I dont recommend because she makes you WORK for your grade she prepared me for University I took her for research and biopsy and I learned A LOT in her class As a transfer student and I am ahead in my upper division classes you might not think youre doing well but do the work, and you will pass!
If you have the chance to take Prof. Cleveland I highly recommend it! She is a very intelligent professor and cares about her students. As long as you take notes, study them and attend every class you should do well! Textbook is optional but very useful. She is also very hilarious and cool loved her class!
Very intelligent and articulate woman, also very relatable and pleasant to be around. I thought I was going to fail but she is extremely good at explaining the material. She gives study guides and practice tests so there is no reason why you can't pass this class. She wastes no time and the class passes by fast. I wish all professors were like her!
Read noted she provides and videos. they will be helpful for exams. 4 Exams total that count largely on your grade. I slacked on first 2 exams got D's but passed my last 2 with C & B. If you read material she provides take your own notes you will pass. Its a lot of reading but doable. If you plan on cheating you can't you must read to pass exams.
I enjoyed taking psych 2, but I think it was a little hard since she only gives little time for a big amount of questions (ex. 50 questions w 60 mins) and I experienced a lot of stress taking the tests. I learned a lot and the class was invigorating since there's a lot of reading. I barely got a B in the class, but honestly it was not a bad class.
This was by far my favorite class. She is a very intelligent and her lectures are very detailed. There is a lot of reading but it isn't a hard class. She doesn't make it easy but as long as you do the work, you will be fine. If you're a psychology major and want to actually learn the material, take Dr. Cleveland!
She's funny, caring, and friendly. I actually enjoyed taking her class because it felt like art class. She draws out the axons, etc. to help us have a better understanding. She's a kind soul. She really enjoys what she does. Her exams are pretty easy - they're based on the lecture notes. She gives provides study guides before every exam!
This course was definitely difficult as your grade is mainly based on the exams. There are about 4 practice quizzes every week worth about 5 points each (sometimes 10pts) and one exam every week (100pts). Not an easy A class; requires a lot of studying. If you are not majoring in psychology and just trying to get through gen ed, I suggest you don't
(Winter 2021) The class consists of practice tests and 4 exams. All multiple choice. There are about 1-2 practice tests with an exam each week. Very easy but do read the (short) lectures on Canvas. There are only 2 short answer questions to do in the entire class but she's a slow grader so we only got our grade for it after our final exam.
I have not met this professor so I can only say so much, but her online presence with her class is very disappointing. Throughout the semester, the professor was completely quiet, with only a very few amount of messages/emails being sent out to the class about class updates. It was as if I took the course without a professor.
Doesn't answer questions on her discussion board that says to ask questions. Don't need to read so you don't need to read the book, I learned this late, so I could've had an A, all her tests are based on her lecture notes. She doesn't update the assignment dates, so prepare to have them open randomly. Only tests, no other assignments.
This review is solely for online. Ive never had such a hands off Professor in my life. Beginning of the semester discussions are not graded until the end, no recorded lectures just YouTube videos and her lecture notes. Its one thing to read and learn, but college courses need more context. Confusion with grades ran rampant among my classmates..
Honestly this was my second time taking this class, but her in person class was wayy better than her online. Her online was more heavy reading and then testing, and her in person was just her lectures, a couple "pop quizes" that were literally about what we had just studied, & tests. VERY caring/kind& funny. Overall enjoyed her class. Easy A!
I would never take this professor again!! she does not give you an overall grade throughout the course, which isn't even allowed, but she did it, worst thing ever! ruined my transcripts , and plans to transfer. I did my work, but somehow still earned a D. WORST MISTAKE EVER. AVOID THE STRESS! supper hands off, just horrible experience.
Would rate better but she is not accessible outside of class!!!! No makeups, no extra credit. Grades were posted very late. Things we had turned in at the beginning of the semester weren't graded until grades were due at the end. Even though I took this class as asynchronous, it would have been great to get a response back from her.
Prof. Cleveland is probably one of my favorite professors at ELAC right now.She does say that there is a textbook for the class, but you really don't need it because her lectures are what are on the tests. She does give in-class assignments and "pop quizzes" that are free points.
One of the best professors I had at elac so far. Very accommodating towards her students & really funny too. 10/10 would take her again
I can say Professor Cleveland is one of the best professors at ELAC. Her lectures are super fun and exciting. I will say the exams are a little hard and I wouldn't go based on the study guide she gives out. I would go based on the notes from class and the textbook reading. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS. Don't stress about the final paper, she helps you out.
Her class was a breeze and I hardly studied when it came down to the 3-4 exams that are known to be worth 80-90% of my grade. However, I did pay attention to the engaging lectures that would partake in class. She is understanding and easy-going. She is very kind and has a sense of humor that most students would like, like myself.
If you want to do anything within the research or clinical side of psychology, professor Cleveland's class is a great way to prepare for your time at a 4 year and so on. She's easy to talk to and really cares about the students, if you have any questions just ask. Her 092 class isn't easy but its easily do-able if you're passionate enough
I took her bio psych class during the summer and it was super easy we only very little discussions and and practice quizes and exams. Her lectures were pretty describable and informational I used the book maybe 3 times but it was super easy!
great class!
I took her for Winter course. Compared to my other online classes, her lectures were typed notes put into different modules. She basically typed out her lecture and explained the textbook in a way that you are able to understand it! I loved how everything made sense. I love this class and everything was straight forward and well explained.
This professor was great! Took her for winter and yes there is a lot of reading. Just make sure to stay on top of everything. We had about 2 practice quizzes every week and about an exam every week to a week and a half for winter. Her quizzes are easy if you study, exams are 1 hr long for 50 questions. Know your stuff! Learn a lot!
Very unhelpful/unprofessional and doesn't care that student have lives outside of school. Sent her numerous emails and she never responded to any of them. She doesn't accept any late work or make any exceptions to students regardless of the situation. If you're gonna be strict w your students at least hold yourself to the same standard.
Pros: Organized, Don't need to rely on book, Material is not that difficult Cons: Didn't seem to respond that often even though we had a dedicated discussion post to ask her questions (did address some ?s), Modules are locked until a certain date 2 discussions (1 Intro 1 debate), 1 essay response test, 13 quizzes (2 fill-in-the-blank), 4 Exams
You don't have to get the textbooks because she sums up the book readings in her lectures. Be prepared to read A LOT. Overall, the material she teaches is very interesting but she doesn't communicate well with students. And some of the questions are worded weird so you have to pay close attention to that. Also there is NO extra credit provided.
Pros: Kind, flexible, funny, emotionally intelligent, let me take midterm for another class I had with her another day, good feedback and good teaching method Cons: Doesn't respond to emails it is much better to ask her in person I had a fair experience for both her in person classes, probably better to take her in person from the looks of it
Okay professor, class was informative and I learned a lot, very reading heavy, though. She's really like really bad at communicating though, I was never able to get in touch with her throughout the semester, my class was online.
Professor Cleveland's class has a lot of reading, but if you stay on top of it, the quizzes and exams are manageable. Unstuck study was a big help for studying and test prep.
I took this course over the winter and it was a very fun course to take. The exams were related to the lectures and the book, so make sure you read. Also, make sure to watch the videos provided in the lecture because a lot of test questions are related to those videos. I tried to reach out to her a couple of times but didn't get a response.
Albeit not a very hands-on professor, and although there were no video lectures for this online asynchronous class, it's an easy A if you know the content. 95% of the grade is practice tests and exams. There are no discussions or homework. Interesting class!
Loved taking BioPsych with Professor Cleveland. She's hilarious and always comes to class with a smile on her face. There was a lot of content to cover, but she was always very thorough with her lectures. It was a very manageable class with a few pop quizzes here and there, a couple of in-class assignments, and some tests. I'll miss this class.
