does a good job trying to make the class interesting but she definately has her favorites and if you aren't her favorite, too bad for you!

Seems semi unprepared at times and doesn't make the class all that interesting for a pysc class. TA is helpful though and apparently does a lot of the work. All and all though not to shabby. Mullet!

Desoto is great! She is fun, friendly, & cute. Course info is potentially confusing, but she does an EXCELLENT job explaining it, so it seems like an easy class. Gives in class quizzes to help prepare & give more points. Recommended!!!

Many students are irritated by her humor, her in class quizes, and how she repeats things. But they don't realize that she is doing a great job of teaching! She expains everything so well and I found her humorous!

Class is fairly easy, and she makes things easy to understand.

She is my favorite professor by far! Her lectures were so interesting that it made 9am not seem so bad. She even brought us candy on Halloween and dressed up like a cat!

shes a great teacher and really cares about her students. she has quizes at the end of class sometimes and her test are multiple choice and has some extra credit opportunities!

Doesn't take attendance...except the day of her in-class quizzes (usually Friday so people don't skip after Thursday night parties)...if you miss quiz though, you can write a 1-pg paper about what she talked about in the notes that day

Her powerpoint lectures make notetaking very easy (especially since the tests seem to very closely follow what is covered in class.) Make sure to take the practice tests that count towards extra credit! She is a great teacher - highly recommended!

Dr. DeSoto made psychology really, really intersting. She is one of the best profs I have had and she looked pretty smokin when she wore a cat costume for halloween.

A good class. Slightly challenging, but nothing wrong with that! Read the book or you will be lost as half the material covered on quizzes and tests is straight from the book. Also attend the lectures. She may not take attendence but she covers a lot that you can't find in the book. She's really nice and has great classroom prescence. Good class.

I really like this professor. I wasn't sure about taking biopsych at the beginning of the semester, and I thought it would be hard...but as long as you pay attention and study it's not bad at all. Dr. DeSoto has really increased my interest in biopsych and I would personally recommend taking her.

Dr. Desoto is an AMAZING teacher in my opinion. She's very focused on students, and explains the information very clearly. She's also very willing to help you outside of class; I met with her, and she really helped me a lot and even sent a follow-up email to congratulate me on my next test score. Highly recommend her!

This class was very interesting. The tests were easy as long as you read the chapter and understand the concepts from class. Dr. Desoto is very nice and wants her students to understand and do well.

Good class, if you go. She is so into making sure the students learn that it made the class better. Some students hated it but I really enjoyed the class!!!

Dr. DeSoto is kind of intimidating at first, but if you ask her for help she is more than willing to help you. You can easily pass the tests if you go to class and look at your notes. She's a good teacher and her power point presentations help with note taking a lot!

Good teacher and overall a good class... tests tend to be tricky at times and she will put in questions from the chapters that werent covered in class. There are 8 or so tests with a comprehensive final along with numerous inclass pop-quizes... go to class and read the chapters

Good and interesting class. Sounds hard at beginning, but as long as you take good lecture notes and read the book, you'll get a good grade. Test essays can be tricky. Short presentations at end of semester pretty easy. Very enthusiastic teacher, I'd recommend taking this class.

I loved Desoto for intro! shes funny and lighthearted..you can tell she loves psychology. tests can be tricky..and you have to go to class because she puts alot of the examples given in class on the test.

She is very nice and her acting is hilarious. Tests are tricky bc you need to learn to apply it to other things, than just knowing the definition. Test every 2 weeks, midterm and final. I recommend her bc she knows how to teach well.

Desoto is one of the best teachers i have had. She is so funny and makes class fun,shes always cracking little jokes. She knows what is she talking about and does a good job explaining it. The tests are kind of hard but if you study, go to class, and take notes...you should be golden.

She is hilarious!! She made coming to class worth it! Her class isn't that hard but she does put questions on the test that aren't from lectures, so you do need to read the textbook if you want to do well. Overall, a great teacher, i would take her class again!

She is a great teacher. I tudied little for her tests and rarely opened my book, except to look at example graphs. There are a lot of notes but she makes the class so much fun. She never took attendance but I showed up everyday. It was an easy class. She is also very willing to help if you ask her nicely.

Tests every two weeks but they aren't very hard and you get to drop the lowest one. Mainly just pay attention to lectures and take notes to do well in the class. Reading the book is helpful but not many tests questions are about the book.

She's a great teacher! She is funny and really easy to understand. She makes you want to come to class even though it isn't mandatory. The tests are pretty easy if you at least glance at the book. She uses lots of examples to make sure you understand everything and makes it interesting.

Dr. Desoto is very good at explaining the material in class, but her tests cover quite a bit of information. Every concept is understandable, but there is so much information that it may be difficult to retain it all. Her tests are long rather than hard.

Great class. Test average is usually low B. She tells essay question before the test and will help you prepare for it if you need it. Anyone who studies and can read can get an A.

Great class learned a lot that will be useful in life. When she teaches she gives great examples. She constantly makes sure you understand. Has a passion for the subject and really want to share her knowledge with the class.

She really knows her stuff & explains really well. But go to class otherwise you'll miss out a lot. Tests are hard but if you take good notes & read the assigned pages in the book, you'll be fine. Very good professor. Gives pop-quizzes but is very helpful. Professor makes sure you understand the content during a lecture, and keeps the class interesting. Good TA and very good study sessions before exams.

Really great teacher. Good lectures. She has great PowerPoints and she's there for you to learn and really understand the concept. Class isn't boring, but make sure to get the book because tests are tough and she uses textbook questions. Tests are very important. In class pop quizzes usually after she lectures. So show up and listen .

Pop quizzes are over the lectures form that day, super easy. For the tests, she tells you to not skip certain sections, don't skip them. As long as you do the reading and go to most of her classes, you'll be fine. She doesn't take attendance.

I really enjoyed taking Bio Psych with Dr. Desoto. She teaches from experience sometimes which makes it more interesting. Dr. Desoto explains very well and loves when students asks questions. The material is tough but she is a great professor. Doesn't give homework or papers and helps you on quizzes. Three tests a semester + the final.

I think Dr. Desoto is a really good Biopsych professor. Her lectures cover most of the test material, she points out what you need to read from the textbook in order to get a good test grade. There isn't homework besides reading the book, which you should definitely do. Show up and pay attention and you should be fine. Desoto is understanding too.

Desoto is an amazing professor. She cares about what she is teaching and gets excited about it. Loves when people ask her questions. You'll definitely need to put the work in for this class. Dr. DeSoto is very good at giving lectures, always entertaining, and engaging. I would recommend to buy the book and read it, because exams cover materials from her lectures as well as the physical text.

If you go to class and take good notes, you can pass with flying colors. A few questions from the readings are on the test, but you can pass easily without ever reading them. Super interesting lecture and she has a sense of humor which is also a good characteristic in a professor.

Dr. DeSoto is an amazing professor! I would definitely take classes with her again. For biopsych, there's four tests. When she says study everything in your notes, she means everything! If you don't understand something, just ask, and she'll be happy to explain more. The tests are hard, so you'll have to study a lot, but it's definitely worth it!

Dr. Desoto's biopsychology course is fun and interesting, but if you do not show up and actively listen you will not do well. The class has 4 tests and she gives very good detailed lectures, but she will pull information out of the book to make getting an A impossible unless you read. She is a great professor and definitely knows her stuff!

Very good lectures and cares about her students. Very organized and provides in class "quizzes" which are extra credit points. Make sure to read textbook because at least 5 questions per exam are concerning specific details in the text. Overall solid choice for intro to psych!

Catherine was a great prof for Intro to Psych! Don't slack in the class and do assigned readings and you'll do fine. She has humor and teaches it in an orderly way. There is not. much homework so grades are dependent on exams.

She does the best job at explaining any concept and making sure everyone understands. She makes an obvious effort to help review important ideas throughout the semester and sometimes offers study guides. Her lectures are always interesting, funny, and relative to everyone. I would recommend Desoto to anyone! By far the best prof I've had yet.

The grade was entirely based on 4 tests but all of the questions are straight out of lecture and the readings. As long as you go to class and do the readings you will do fine. She is a great lecturer. You can tell she really knows what she is teaching and she does a great job explaining difficult concepts.

Professor DeSoto makes clear from the start that if you want to pass you will need the textbook, take good notes, and actually read the textbook. Her lectures are almost always very interesting and engaging for as much as you can be with psych. The 4 Exams are based on book and in class material 30/70 split, but don't expect a C if you never show

Desoto was one of the best professors I've had at UNI. Biopsych is a tough course, especially if you don't do assigned readings and come to class, but she made it interesting and fun. I learned so much in this course. There are four exams, a few in class quizzes that go towards bonus points on exams, and one presentation!

Her lectures were engaging because she didn't read directly off of a slide and connected the content with life. Desoto is super intimidating at first but you will grow to like her. She tries to keep her lectures engaging, and she is very good at explaining things. You MUST go to class in order to pass. Lots of memorization, but gets easier as the semester goes on. As long as you show up to class consistently and study a few days before a test, you'll be fine

Very lecture-heavy. Attendance is not mandatory, but the info in class is super important. The class is long but Dr. Desoto does her best to make them interesting. The class is only graded on two exams, midterm and final. Each exam is 50% of your grade, so it is important to study the notes (very few if any questions come from the textbook).

don't buy the book, you don't need it, i promise, exams only have a couple of questions off the book and the rest are information in the lectures. ATTEND LECTURES, don't be stupid. she's nice and funny. Only grades are two exams in the class and an inclass extra credit. ATTEND LECTURES.

Dr. Desoto tells you right from the beginning, if you want to do well you need to show up and take notes. The lectures are amazing, and engaging. Her exams are 90% based straight from lecture, and then a little bit from the reading in the textbook. If you want to do the best you can, read the book, show up, and study. She is an amazing professor.

This course is not super easy and takes hard work but I highly recommend. While Dr. DeSoto is a hard grader she's a great professor. Taking this course is useful in everyday life and I think whether you're a psych major or not everyone should take it!

Lectures are engaging, but you'll need to attend to succeed. The textbook is helpful, and using unstuckstudy for study prep can boost your grades. Just don't rely too much on it - showing up and taking good notes is key.
