Hawkins is awesome! She is so enthusiastic about the subject, and her teaching methods are so good that I did not even have to study so hard. There is a lot of homework, but she makes the class so much fun. Most importantly, she is a beautiful humanbeing.

I love psych and at first i was put off by her southern accent. but she is a great teacher and so spunky and interesting! you can learn lots from her, she has been through so much in her life.

Great teacher! I loved her laid-back style and accent. Very helpful and even let's you use a notecard on her tests. I thought it was a great class even though she likes to challenege you. I would recommend taking this class from her and NOT Brown-Whistler or Matchinsky!

her test is like common sense. she gives you hints in her quetsions. the only thing she hates is when people turn paper in late or not stapled or make excuses on some stuff or act like a middle schooler. other than that you can get an A

Dr. Hawkins teaches a relatively tough class, but makes up for it with very good lectures and a sense of humor. Workload may seem difficult at first, but people who do it will actually find the class easier- 3, 7 quizzes, articles, and projects. Remember: come to class "concious and sober"

Follow along, do the assingments, staple your work and show up and you can easily get an A! Keeps it entertaining and likes to tell stories. Good teacher.

Follow directions Staple your papers Talk

At first turned off by strong southern accent & personality, but soon found her very fun. Class is incredibly easy- tests concentrate on the most basic concepts. True she's very strict on hw (spell/gram, follow exact directions). Hard to earn 100% on hw, but tests are so easy they'll make up for it (allowed notecard). Go to class, be on time.

I think her Southern accent is hillarious! If you show up on time and turn in your papers you will do well. If she says to staple your papers, staple them... If you can't follow simple directions this may not be the class for you...

Probably one of the easiest classes I have ever taken. She always cracks some kind of redneck joke or something...fun professor, if she would teach other classes that I have to take, I would take them with her.

a good inro class. Dr. Hawkins is great teacher, has alot of fun tidbits that makeit interesting. the homework gets kinda boring, and the subject just seemed kinda easy for me. nonethe less she is a good teacher.

she is hilarious! She makes what could be a very boring class into something that I enjoy going to!

she has a different way of teaching but it is a great way that she does it. Her grammer rule is bull sh$$ but you have to do it. If you want a teacher that is different then any one you had take her. her ways are great if you have trouble with the way other teachers teach

of course shes gonna grade the english part. why do you want an A if you cant even get the english part right. this is college, not elementary school. the test she gives is very similar to the study guides/handouts. she uses keywords and repition in her assignments. copy those key words down to notecard and it will be helpful

she was crazy. she told our class she was in an mental hospital. her son called the cops on her once because she wasn't taking her depression medicine and freaked out. but the tests are easy you get to use a note card. and for papers just write about depression, she loves that. its an atomatic A. better yet tell her you suffer from depression

Wonderful professor! a little too many writing assignments, but she was great. Very detail oriented, very fun classes.

She was great! She gives you outlines on her lectures. Her tests and quizzes are pretty much based on that outline so you're never confused on what the test is gonna be on. Funny and crazy and an easy A if you use the outline when reading the text.

hawkins is hilario! she's crazy and keeps the class awake. she has great examples and makes things very clear and easy to remember!

She is the greatest teacher ever! She's really helpful and will always answer questions, I think she likes it because it shows that your trying to learn. She can be really picky about grammer but hey this is college. There's not alot of homework because she redid some stuff. Seriously take her! You won't regret it!

My favorite prof this semester. She's got a lot of personality, and I actually enjoy her lectures.

She has a heavy southern accent, is difficult to understand at first, but once the class gets started, she is a great teacher. She is very picky about spelling and grammar, but this is college - not 2nd grade. You basically have to take no notes because she gives you a packet with everything you need. Show up, pay attention, and do the class work.

She is the coolest teacher I have ever had!!! She really keeps you engaged in class!! And you can learn a lot from her..

Seems like a lot of work at first but it's easy to keep up with.

i go to north hennepin right now and she was my most favorite teacher ever. i gave her all ones on the course evaluation. i'm planning on taking her again because she is really nice and she is a really good teacher.

She is an awesome teacher. When i first started the class i thought i wouldnt like her but in the end she was the coolest teacher!

Everyone told me not to take her but I did anyways............and it was great!!!! She was a very good teacher and really knew what she was talking about. The work in this class is not that hard you just need to keep up with it and ask questions if you need to. She is a very nice lady and she loves to have goofy conversations!!!

She is a very good teacher. She is extremely strict, but never the less a great teacher. You learn a LOT from taking her classes. I recommend her to everyone.

I love her! I took her general psych class last semester and i would have gotten an A but i didn't study for a test so i got an 88%. If you ever get a chance TAKE HER! She still says hi to me in the halls! she's the best!

Dr. Hawkins is a wonderful teacher. She teaches her material with clarity and uses many examples that helps you on the tests. The homework and papers are very easy if you pay attention in class. She is very interesting and really gets you interested in the subject of psychology. She is definatly my favorite teacher I've had at NHCC.

She is a nice woman, and she does care about her students. Lots of strict rules with grammar/spelling, and sometimes assignments weren't the clearest for me. This course was required, but I really didn't get very much out of it. Nice woman though.

Great Instructor, VERY set in her ways and how to do things. Will ding you on even the smalled error, I feel like I should have gotten a better grade, but overall, very good...

She is a great prof. (take her), keeps lectures interesting most of the time, be prepared to do lots of worksheets in class for EASY points, strict grading.Probably won't even have to crack open the book at all to do well on tests.Take her if you are willing to follow set rules, you'll learn loads. Kids who posted negative comments are just lazies.

This teacher knows her stuff but she was rude, insulting, and she does play favorites. She is very picky about grades (I was docked a whole letter grade for failing a ten point assignment which I failed because of the lack of clarity on the instructions) Avoid this teacher at all costs. The course is great. The teacher spoils it all.

Very strict on her rules. Her syllabus was 31 pages long (not an exaggeration). Get to class on time, and do your work. Little homework so make use of the practice tests she posts. The class is interesting but you have to look past her crazy expectations at times.

I am seriously shocked at the comments posted on here about Cathy Hawkins. She is one of the best teachers I have had in college. She explains things to a T. If you come to class, follow directions and study slightly, you will do well in this class. Cathy is a great teacher and has a genuine interest in her student's success.

she is a very "enthusiastic" teacher, so that helps with the lectures. she will make you work, but thats actually a really good thing because it makes you learn the material. and its not like there is an overload with the homework. but she also is anal about somethings but its not too bad. so overall its a pretty easy/good class with her.

Cathy is a great teacher best one I've had at north hennepin so far. Very organized and is there to help you out. If you neat and organized, follow directions and go to class you'll do great in the class. Tests aren't too hard.

This class is very easy. As long as you go to class and do the required work your going to get a good grade. Insightful movies in the class.

Cathy is fun to be around and gives you everything you need to pass her class, at the start of the class. Simply follow her instructions, study,be on time, and pass.

Great teacher.. For every student who has anything mean to say about her just says they were lazy.. Cathy creates the notes for you, simply follow the notes throughout class and study them before the test and you will get an A.. I have to admit that the test are hard if you dnt seriously study for them.. However, Cathy is awesome at teaching..

Great Teacher. She is funny and the class was fun to attend. Alot of in assignments are done in class with partners. I would take a class with her again.

I loved her! She is super helpful if you have any questions, and I never had to buy the book because she teaches you everything you need to know. She's pretty strict on attendence and homework, but it IS college. She has a few weird rules but as long as you show up and do what you're supposed to you should be successful.

She's a strict instructor. Without exaggerating, her syllabus is 30+ pages (you will need to get 100% on the 30-40 question test on it to get an A in the class!). Otherwise, she's really entertaining. She has a southern accent which is fun to listen to. There's a lot of homework and you'll definitely need to keep up. I wouldn't take her again.

I'm not trying to be mean. Just here to tell TRUTH. About her English requirements, I'm gonna tell you what happened and then you can judge for yourself. English is my second language and I made no mistakes in all the writings for her class. I was quite surprised that other people in my class did make mistakes . ???

Her humor was too good. She teaches reaallly well. I'm not kidding. Her projects will kill everyone. EVERYONE. Quizzes and tests are quite easy though. Do not bother taking her if you don't plan on studying. I got a B and I rarely studied so its all good. Like I said, her projects KILL peoples grades which sucks because I keep messing up on them.

Awesome! Go to class, participate and turn everything in on time and you will get a good grade! She gives you an outline of notes to use during lecture which will help when it comes to quizzes and tests. Every class meeting she lists an update of what your grade is. Lots of fun stories and laughs made the semester memorable.

I learned a lot in her class but I think her "rules" were unreasonable (she'll give you a zero on your test if you borrow someone a pencil to take the test). I studied a lot, did all the assignments on time and went to every class and I got a B.

She's a really good teacher. Yes she does have a lot of assignments but they help you understand what you are learning. She is strict on somethings, but if you show up to class do the work you should do fine. Just make sure when you are doing the projects that you are using correct grammar and spelling, she does take a lot of points off for it.

Shes all about learning how to learn. When I first started I would have said she sucks and it isnt possible to pass her class. However if you make it till the end you have learned ALLOT of valuable info, im taking her again next semester. I like the challenge AND it the most i've ever learned in a class EVER.

She is practically an english teacher, she deducts points off if you don't have perfect grammar and spelling, or your name on the exact location she wants. You will learn in this class, but you have to do a lot of work! This class is NOT EASY!! DONE!

Class can be difficult if you don't follow directions. However you WILL learn. She loves what she teaches and that shows. If you're not a slacker and want to actually learn something this class is for you. She's funny too!!

She seems intimidating and strict with her initial assignments about grammar and sentence structure. But after the initial assignments, the work she assigns really helps. Just doing the homework she assigned made me learn a lot and I didn't have to study much for this class. She also gives plenty of extra credit in every unity.

I loved is professor!! She was really caring and funny, and she made class enjoyable. Check the syllabus, do the work on time, and you will learn the material without trying! Make sure to attend every class and dont be late!!

She can be very strict and confusing but ultimately cares about helping you. If she makes a mistake she will penalize you. Can go a little off topic. She can seem harsh and confusing but if you do what you are supposed to you will do just fine.
