Everything is on blackboard so you never have to attend class. I found her a little annoying because her lectures were such a waste of time and all she did was talk about herself. The class wasn't too bad for a gened. Go ahead and take her.

Shes nice, but assigns a good amount of busywork. Her class schedule is awesome (she usually gives you Fridays off). She did however penalize my whole group 50% on a project because ONE member didnt turn it in on time.

Mrs. Snyder is adorable! She was quite pregnant this semester but never cranky! Group work can be frustrating, so be sure to get to know your group and EVERYONE'S schedules. Otherwise, good class, easy to at least get a B, TAKE HER!

I didn't think that this class was as easy as everyone says. I am struggling to get a B and I put a lot of work into it. There is a lot of group work which kind of sucks. Yea she gives extra credit, but it doesn't count for that much. She is alright, but I'll be glad when the class is over.

Kathy is amazing. She is by the far the best GBUS 160 teacher. If you do not take her class you are mistaken big time, she rocks. Her tests are easy if you take just a glance at the book. Synder is the only choice for GBUS 160 period.

Great teacher, quite loud, keeps the class awake....good morning class ;) Class is pretty easy, although there's a lot of group work. I wish she would communicate information about assignment updates and schedule changes better, she notified us a little late on schedule once and I came to class when it was cancelled 0^_^

Cathy is great! She could be a bit more organized at times, but overall she does a great job teaching. She tries so hard to keep things open and friendly and really wants everyone to enjoy the class! I heart you Cathy wherever you are!

I highly recommend Cathy Snyder. She is a fun and upbeat teacher. She is down to earth and knows her students are suffering through lectures so she says "hang on for 2 more minutes and we will leave early". Her leaving early is 30 minutes early so its definetly worth taking her just to get out early. Long tests, must study for days to get an A.

The class isnt hard however shes not very clear on some things. she doesnt really teach the stuff- at least in a way for people to understand but its still not hard. She gets off topic a lot and will sometimes cancel class for no reason..

Sooo she is very off topic. She is a very FUN teacher though love it when she gets us involved. She doesn't explain what she is looking for in the projects, too many things going on in the class. She lets us out early and cancels class ALOT. But overall I love this teacher and she is very approachable. I wish I would have tried harder in da class.

Not too much homework, just the right amount to keep you in check-and it really helps for the tests. A really good teacher. She goes through a fair amount of material. Most assignments are small, one big project with a group. Get a good group and you'll be fine. She does tend to get off topic and cancelled class a few times during the semester. She was still lively and entertaining at 8:00 in the morning though. I would recommend this class.

Very easy. There is so much extra credit it's not even funny. The tests are easy even without studying. She grades all projects very easily. There is no real need to go to class, except some days (fridays especially) she gives extra credit opportunities during class.

Such an awesome professor. I had Snyder at 8 in the morning on M,W,F. I actually wanted to wake up to go to her class. I learned so much and feel so much better about the "business world." There are a lot of group projects and a final presentation, but she is a great guide along the way. Exams are not a piece of cake, so study. Great class.

Tests are kind of hard. She gives tricky questions with all 4 choices looking like the right answer. As long as you do decent on them you will do well in class. I got an A and got As and Bs on exams. Homework is pretty easy, and the class is enjoyable. She is a very nice professor and very understandable.

Very nice. I definitely recommend her. Tests are somewhat difficult but they are offered online and you have two attempts. Do well on homework because they will bite you in the butt later on. In class notes aren't very helpful so take your own from the book while preparing for a test.

Dr. Snyder is an extremely kind lady, who def knows the material well, however what she talks about during her lectures usually isn't that helpful for your work. Prof. S is a nice lady. Getting an A is possible but I feel like it is easier for business majors to get an A since they know more about business. Homework is graded on correctness which dropped my grade but overall easy B.

Professor Snyder's class is interesting and easy to relate to. She cancels class a few times and everytime you have an online test (open book, not the easiest but able to get Bs and sometimes As) you don't have to go to class. Mrs. S is super nice and is passionate about the subject. She cancels class frequently which is a plus. All tests are online but, she mentions them in class as if they are no biggy, but they are very hard. Also there's weekly homework but it's manageable. A great cluster one gen ed.

Professor S is amazing! Her personality was so funny and I enjoyed her class. Her tests were actually difficult, but once you studied you were good to go. I barely showed up to class half of the time and I finished the class with a B. I highly recommend taking the class with her to get a gen ed 1 cluster out of the way!

People you have to take her! She is really good at explaining the material. She also has a energetic and real personality--very funny too! The online tests are a bit hard (it's the only time I needed the books). I definitely learned a lot so far; and I'm a business major so a lot of this isn't new to me! I'm definitely not into personal finance but Snyder makes it really easy to learn. Theres 3 mini-tests that are open book and 8 small homework assignments that you need to do 6 of. The tests can be difficult but if you prepare yourself beforehand and use the study materials she provides online they are definitely doable. No excuse not to get an A.

Professor Snyder is by far my favorite professor at JMU. She is so lenient with assignments and is so understanding if you are sick other than most professors. All the tests are online and there's no cumulative final. Also, all the homework counts more than the tests and she drops the lowest 2 homework assignments! Definitely would recommend her!!

I really enjoyed Professor Snyder as a person, but I do not think the MKTG 101e class was set up right. Basically the entire class is just other people talking about their businesses and internships, which is helpful, but I wish I would've learned more about the actual content of marketing to help prepare me for my future classes.

She's absolutely amazing! all the tests are online and if you go to her office hours she'll go over it with you. I went once and she handed me extra points because she didn't like the question I got. As long as you show up to class and do the work on time you should get an A

Take her! The only complaint I have about this class is that they online mini-tests are hard and do not cover what she talks about in class. However she is a good professor and her homework is easy. Good cluster 1. Takes attendance.

Cathy is a great professor and she knows her class is a gened and treats it like one. Minimal amount of homework and only 4 tests and a final all 50 multiple choice online so you don't have to go to class on test days! She teaches you useful and relevant information and tries to relate the information to things we are going through now.

SUCH AN EASY CLASS. I recommend it to all my friends in need of an easy gen ed. She is so flexible (if you can't make it to your morning class, she's more than happy to have you come to a later class). Pretty frequent extra credit, all of the tests are online, and an easy homework every two weeks or so. Just good info necessary for the real world.

Professor Snyder has been my favorite professor at JMU. I am not a business major and she understood that not everyone in her class was. She was very clear as to what she expected and really cares about her students. I wish I was a business major so I could take her again.

LOVE HER! I'm not a business major but this was my favorite class of the semester! I really enjoyed going to class. She is so funny and makes her teachings applicable to our lives. BUS 160 is the best choice for cluster 1 and Snyder is the best for BUS 160 by far. Her classes and lectures are not terrible and most of the time they start late and end early. The homework/tests are very easy if you go to class and pay attention. She is also an awesome teacher and person, very down to Earth and wants students to do well! TAKE HER

Cathy really does care about every student who shows up to class. She gives advice on more than just the class. Gives daily examples of things we learn in class to outside events. I would highly recommend taking her for Bus 160.

I love this lady, she is hilarious. Her tests are a little tough but she usually throws out some questions. Offers several ways to get extra credit and cancels class every now and then. Homework is worth 50 points and there are a couple but if you go to her office hours she will do them with you. Would definitely take her again she is so cute!

By far my best professor at JMU so far. Lectures are very interesting and you have three excused absences (you get extra credit if you don't go over the three) Her tests are very straight forward but does require some outside reading. She is VERY personable and gives multiple extra credit opportunities.

Professor Snyder was a really great professor! If you plan on taking BUS 160, definitely take her. All of the assignments are pretty straightforward, but if you are having trouble with a topic, she's more than happy to talk it out with you until you understand it. Come to class for extra credit and attend the extra credit events--they help a lot!

Overall great professor. Cathy cares about your grade, and not only that but she cares about you as a person. You can tell she is truly passionate about the class through her lectures. The tests were sometimes difficult and there was homework and online quizzes every week, as well as 4 other major tests.

AMAZING, she did get harder last semester, but her homework counts more than test grades so get 100's on the homework and you should end with an A if you get C/B's on the tests which are kinda really difficult if you aren't into finance/business. A very quirky professor yet very knowledgeable when it comes to personal finance. Her lectures can get a little boring but they are very useful when it comes to real world knowledge (taxes, insurance, home-buying...). Fun professor, but not the class for you if you're looking for an easy A. Tests are rather difficult and more textbook-based than notes, so you really have to read it to get an A. I studied the class notes and review pages at the back of the textbook and averaged a B every test. However there's extra credit and you only have to do 5 of 7 homeworks.

She finds ways to incorporate real life situations into the class and is always in a good mood. Her class was always the highlight of my day and I'd recommend taking her to absolutely anyone.

If you're looking for a gen-ed on the easier side, I recommend taking Cathy's class. There are four online quizzes throughout the semester and 7 easy assignments that she takes the top 5 grades of your 7. Four tests for the whole semester and the final is NOT cumulative. Also gives a lot of extra credit and genuinely wants to see you succeed.

Cathy is easily hands down one of the best professors I've taken at JMU. I think her class provides some great eye opening material for money/adulting things in the real world, and she's also one of the funniest professors I've had. Her grading is pretty clear cut, as long as you show up to class and do the work you'll easily have a solid B+/A.

Don't think this class is an "easy A". I had that mentality and did absolutely horrible on the tests, so make sure you pay attention and read the text book. At one point I had a C in the class and through all the extra credit she gave I got my grade up to an A. If you have questions go to her office hours and she might reward you extra points!

Snyder is the GOAT. Build a relationship with her - one, because if your grade needs help, she'll hook it up... and two, you just won't regret it. You can talk to her about pretty much anything (even non-class related problems) and she will help you. The tests are difficult! So make sure youre paying attention in class.

Bus160 with Cathy is the way to go. If you miss less than 3 classes you get extra credit. The tests are super easy, even if you just show up to class. Lectures are basically what the test is. It was difficult to keep track of what you were supposed to be working on during the COVID situation, but she did her best to help with that by making a weekly schedule. There are 4 exams (not online) and 5 required HW assignments. It was a pretty moderate class and she was very entertaining.

Even having her at 8am was a blast. She always makes class a good time even when you are running on fumes. The class is the usual to succeed: READ THE BOOK (maybe 20 pages a week), do the homework (only counts your top 5 scores out of the 7 homework assignments), and come to class and take notes. Snyder is overall a very nice person and is always willing to help if you are struggling. However, her tests and quizzes were so difficult and didn't really reflect her lectures at all- she always tested on things we hadn't talked about much. Her final is also impossible, I had an A the entire semester and then failed the final.

She makes the class more about personal finance so the information is actually useful (buying houses, credit score, taxes, etc). 2% of the final grade this semester was based on if you showed up to class to play a game. YES! Extra credit for going to class and more. Test questions are pulled from a test bank but she will literally help you so much thru test questions and tell u hacks to test bank answer choices if ur stuck. So personable, u can tell she is happy to be there. Let out of class early most days and there's a game day and a day to watch an HGTV show.

Snyder is an amazing professor with a caring personality. She wants everyone to pass and will help them in any way. Although her Canvas modules can be a bit of a mess, she provides plenty of extra credit and test tips before test days, which are always in person. She tells entertaining stories occasionally and can keep a class's attention.

Probably my favorite professor. All of the work is incredibly easy, I basically read none of the textbook and studied about 2 hours total for each exam. She gave extra credit which took like 15 minutes to do. The lectures are actually super interesting and teach you a good bit about the real world of money. You can only miss 2 classes.

You can tell she knows a lot about what she teaches and always tried to make her lectures interesting. Compared to some of my friends who had other professors though, Snyder does have a little bit harder material but it is definitely useful info for life. Took in fall 2022. You had the option of choosing between two textbooks + we had a long term sub for a month. She loves what she does + tries to make it fun for us. However, her tests were difficult for no reason- her slides only cover 80-90% of what she taught and there were no curves.

DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK, you don't need it. Cathy is a great professor and this class is more about personal economics which was amazing. I took it at 8am and didn't mind it class usually gets out early. 3 tests and minimal hw that is spread out through the semester. Definitely take her she is the best!

More of a personal finance class, she is very chill and makes class engaging although the tests and homework are difficult, but she keeps telling us she is going to put in attendance and other grade boosters soon so solid choice

Cathy is such a great professor! She teaches you things that will be very useful once you become financially independent. We learned how to do our taxes and the differences between life insurance plans. She is also very funny and tries to make learning as fun as possible. 10/10 would recommend.

Skipped this class a few times and didn't really hurt my grade. She uses her syllabus so make sure to refer to that for things coming up. She won't post on Canvas for upcoming tests just for hw. Overall, she is really understanding and appreciates people who go to her office hours.

Dr. Snyder was great! She made me feel very welcome in the class, and I enjoyed coming to her class.

Cathy was a great professor and I learned a lot of real-world application. Her class is very manageable but you have occasional homework, but they aren't too hard and 2 get dropped. However, her test can be tricky sometimes as they are made from the textbook and she doesn't always go over the necessary material. But it was a useful and fun class!

CHOOSE Professor Synder for BUS160 and register for her class ASAP. Best personal finance educator there is, and she is kind and caring. Graded by 4 mid-term exams (no culminative final) and HW only / Attendance is optional but necessary for extra credit / HW is assigned often but given plenty of time / No quizzes of any kind/ lots of Extra Credit

Amazing teacher!! She is great at what she teaches and is very open to helping students understand the concepts in class. She has a lot of office hours and is just kind/caring in general. Highly recommend taking this class with her + lots of opportunities for extra credit and good grades (if you put in some work). I cannot recommend her enough!

Best professor ever!! She cares about what she is teaching and wants everyone to succeed! Only a few tests, never cumulative, does review sessions before. Final exam not cumulative and won't tank your grade if you don't do well. A few homeworks but nothing too hard, gives you answers if you ask her about it. Would 1000% take her again for anything!

Really nice and accessible in office hours. Knows what she is talking about and funny. Grade is four exams, no cumulative, homeworks that she will help with, and sometimes extra credit. Super easy, just take notes on the slides and the math stuff she shows you how to do. Class is lively even at 8 am.

she is so sweet, understanding, and lively. exams can be difficult. 1 thing. she doesnt prep us IN CLASS for the exams as much... BUT she does have a lot of resources. it really depends on how much effort you put outside of class.100% recommend her. she is the first professor i haven't felt intimidated to approach. love her #queen.

I took her my first semester at JMU, and to this day she's still the best professor I've had to this day. Shes hilarious and tries to make the class fun or at least less boring. She's super understanding and is willing to work with students. Taking her is the best choice for BUS 160 by a landslide.

She is a really sweet person and really cares for her students. There are a lot of assignments that are easy to boost your grade and extra credit available. The tests are hard and stray from the lecture slides, but if you are good at applying concepts, you'll do fine.

This class was fairly easy. I am a bio major and took this for a GenEd but it was easy to learn the material and the math.

Cathy has such entertaining lectures, and genuinely wants her students to be SUCCESSFUL in the future. She teaches all the important basic stuff for finances in the future and how to beat the system. You can miss 3 classes and still be eligible extra credit. She follows the grading curve of the class. LOVE HER

Very sweet lady! Content can be a little hard to grasp at times but she is more than willing to break it down for you. No final exam, and she drops your two lowest hw assignments. Sometimes she rambles, but lectures are rarely boring. She really wants you to do well, so put in some effort and you will do well in the class. Take her for bus 160

Dr. Snyder is amazing! The lectures can be a bit boring at times, but she often lets you out of class early and is willing to help if you're confused about something. She's funny and tries to make class fun. Very little homework, but there are 10 online modules you have to complete. You do have to study for tests, but she gives practice problems.

Literally my favorite professor of all time, she is so sweet and caring! There are 7 homeworks, 2 are dropped and they're easy. Tests are a bit harder but she takes out questions that a lot of people missed. I got As on every test and only studied for them the day before. Overall, an amazing class and a great ged ed that is actually useful.

Would take a thousand times over, incredibly kind, funny and cares about your success and it's an easy A if you show up and do the work

BUS 160 with Professor Snyder was such a great gen ed course. Your grade is based on DSM's which are online through the textbook, a few HW assignments, and exams. Professor Snyder is very organized on Canvas, which makes access to the material super easy to find. She also gives extra credit opportunities towards the end of the semester.

her class isn't too difficult as long as you have consistent attendance, turn in all your work, and study for the tests. she does talk about her family a lot, but i enjoyed hearing something besides just straight textbook language in a lecture, and i never really felt like it interfered with my learning in anyway. the homeworks are usually easy

Really enjoyed the class and the material it covered. She always goes over work that's similar to the homework (which you get 2-3 attempts on) and tests. Towards the end of the semester there's lots of ways to get your grade up. If you do the assignments, put in effort, and go to office hours you should be set. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER IF YOU CAN!!

professor snyder is AMAZINGGG she's honestly so funny and she tells stories about her wacky family AND she teaches the subject well! the tests are somewhat difficult BUT if you ask her about a question she'll kinda hint to the answer so it's ok.

This class is essentially a personal finance class, and the material is essential to know in life. Prof. Snyder makes info easy to understand and gives so many resources. She loves analogies and is very engaging with the whole class. She's also reachable outside of class and responds quickly. PLEASE take this class, it's easy and essential to know.
