I'm taking Pilates w/ her right now and her first name is too long for me to remember. She is a very sweet lady and the first time she meet me, she gave me a hug! For Pilates, you don't really need to come but attendance affects your grade and you won't be as flexible as everybody else. I've lost a few pounds and she's pretty easy to get along with
I like Ms Magee, she helped me get back into my love for dance. Attendance is very important for this class and it will greatly impact your grade.
She is nice, sometimes a little moody about things. attendance is a must for her. and being on time even though she is late. i enjoyed having her for dance history. there are 7 tests the book is helpful she lets you take some of the tests home.
She's a little biopollar so stay on her good side. Read the book and you'll be cool.
Absolutely no regard for the syllabus. Arbitrarily grants academic favors to those she likes. Will make your life miserable if she does not like you. RIDICULOUSLY arrogant and hypocritical. Does not know the meaning of "conflict of interests" as she will make you analyze her own work for grades. You will not pass unless you suck up.
She is very hard headed and will not listen to you basically, if you have prior dance training, what she does in the class will drive you insane, he technique is flawed and she considers dance other than her owns commercial and not art, be careful
danced for 13yrs. Prof Megee is one of the worst prof i have had. does NOT care about her students opinion nor concerns so don't give input or ask for help, be on time eventhou she is late, listen to same music everyday, she thinks she is better then ever1 even u, laugh at her jokes and remember the Choreo cuz she wont. luck wont even help u.. :/
comes off as sweet, but it seems forced. she is single minded and thinks the world is out to get her. she is rude to her students for no reason. repetitive class. make a mistake and you get scolded in front of everyone. students leave class hurt. takes her frustrations out on entire class as opposed to one student. dance should be fun, not scary.
PILATES- DANCE 13 She is one of the sweetest teacher, you can right away tell that dancing is her passion and im really glad i took this course. I enjoyed every bit of this class. It helped me learn how to relax and how to handle stressful situations. I would definitely reccomend this teacher.
Professor Magee is very kind and focused in her class, she reinforces important concepts. Although the class is called Pilates, we also got the benefit of learning Hatha Yoga techniques and other stretching methods. I would highly reccomend Mrs. Magee to anyone interested in learning about Pilates or Dance.
Professor Magee is absolutely positively the bomb. When I first attended her class I was 20 lbs heavier than when I finished her class. I learned movements that limber up my body. I was very impress with the methods taught because now I am more flexible and my husband is loving me even more. Very Professional - I highly recommend her class.
Professor Magee is the best Modern dance teacher that I have ever had. Her techniques are flawless. I went into her class as beginner and came out with outstanding dance skills. Her classes are challenging yet exciting, for I am one who loves challenges. She is a professional at the top of her game and I?m very honored to have been taught by her.
She had accused me of being someone who previously commented on this website. Assuming that it was me i felt targeted & instead of constructively giving me feedback she just criticized me for the last half of the quarter. I think that if a teacher, not just this teacher is going to point the finger & be harsh they should get their facts straight.
I was one of the only 2 guys in the class during summer 2008. I found Ms.Magee really passionate about dancing. She wants you to dance like you truly care about dance n have passion in it. Attend every class, do the group dance well(midterm and final), buy the book,be sure to include all the themes in ur mood , be positive, then you will be fine.
she is the worst teacher. self-centered. praises herself. thinks she is the best dancer in the world. she uses the same movement every time. boring. DO NOT TAKE HER!

I recommend that if you LOVE dance, especially if you are new to it, that you either attend classes at one of the dance houses in Los Angeles, take dance at another school, or at the very least, find another teacher.
Her class structure isn't terrible, but the atmosphere that she creates is one of disrespect and fear. She is extremely defensive. She often watches herself dancing in the mirror instead of watching and helping students. When beginner students don't understand the combo, she makes them feel stupid instead of breaking it down and working with them.
PILATES/yoga.Can play weird music that's NOT relaxing. (Bagpipes?!) Doesn't offer alternate poses for beginners. Will point out your "flabby butt" in front of whole class. Lobbied class to sign petition to nominate her for Teacher of the Year Award. (In very poor taste) Spouts new age BS about "toxins" & gives inaccurate health info.
SHE IS THE WORST TEACHER EVER!! I got kicked out of her class for rattling paper! sp LAME!!! SHe is always late to class and never gives us a reason!!! SHE is arrogent and very stubborn. Its like u cant even breathe in her class or u will get in trouble
Well if u just do what she asks, then u should be fine. If u want an A then help her out answer questions, and most of the time she will say thank you for answering u have an A on the next test. She did that a few times with me
terrible. impatient. old. senile. doesnt explain the material. doesnt like trained dancers. ive been dancing for 17 years and ive never disliked any teacher as much as magee. students were asking me to explain the moves and i got in trouble bc she was incapable of explaining them correctly. she needs to retire. I CANT STAND HER.
I have to admit, Magee is a fabulous dancer. Just better damn well hope she likes you. One wrong move, one wrong word and she'll put you on her sh*t list FOREVER. I learned some neat stuff, but honestly the humiliation she forced some students to go through makes her a terrible instructor.
I don't know who these people are referring to when they are speaking about how great this teacher is. She goes beyond favoritism and is extremely defensive. I would never recommend her to anybody because she ruins the whole meaning of dance. Repetitive and unprofessional. Worst teacher I've ever had.
This is my take on Ms Magee, She only likes people who don't know how to dance. If you know dance she feels intimidated and is mean. People have told me this so I pretended to know nothing. She loved me but others who were dancers were treated badly. I have no respect for her as a teacher, dancer or choreographer. Her performances stink.

There is MUCH favoritisms that occur in the class. If you are African American, and you are serious about school, or you are a dancer/athlete, take her class, bc she will love you. If you're of Asian descent and you just want to get your G.E. out of the way, stay away. She will be a witch towards you. She is extremely rude,disrespectful. Stay away!
Took her pilates class. I felt more like she was making us do her personal workout than actual pilates. We did a lot of ballet&yoga things. Also, there were about 3 times where she put on a workout video and left the room and another where we literally layed with our eyes closed for 15mins& class was over. I could have done that for free..AT HOME.
1. she has favorites 2. She puts no effort to teach 3. Even though I got an A, she is useless and must be fired. I lied in all of my papers(complementing her) because I knew I had to kiss up and now it is on my conscience, I'm sorry for her future students. I will never kiss up again
she seems to have mood changes, nice teacher. but only sometimes.. she will put your grade down if you do not buy the book, even though the book is useles.. she will put you down and talk for hours. useless class. i would never recomend her...
don't listen to all the negativity students say. they only say this if they didn't get the grade they thought they deserved. she is an incredible dancer and she actually helps you by telling you what you're doing wrong. she's nice and funny. she makes you work out and love to dance. i recommend her :D
Pilates class: Ms. Magee was extremely sweet and the class was great. She really knows what she is doing, and I definitely got whipped into shape. My only dislike was that I wished she would correct us more if we were doing a move wrong. Less irrelevant DVD watching, as well. Sometimes we would get out 20 minutes early and feel a little ripped off
Guys! It's obvious a lot of you are NOT happy with Magee's teaching. But writing on this site does NOTHING. If you want something to be done about her, GO TO THE DEAN AND COMPLAIN! otherwise the school officials won't even know there's a problem with this teacher. it's easy! just go to his office in the C building & talk to him for a few minutes!
Unbelievable RUDE and has a lot of emotional issues. She feels great by putting down her students. She should not have taught in college at all. At the end of my courses I am going to write a report paper about her attitude to students.
She doesn't like to teach because students drive her crazy. She doesn't prepare for the class in order to bring new info or interesting discussions, but lectures about students' behavior for 10-15 min. She complains about spending too much her time to check students' write-ups. She doesn't create the atmosphere of inspiration.
Just read the book and you will pass the class.

Miss Magee is passionate about dance. However, her teaching skills are a bit unorthodox. You can pass this class with your eyes closed. Gets offended easily, and is quite rude. Recommended if you want to boost your GPA
A very easy class. Just do what she tells you, do bonus grade assignment and show up to class.However she can be very rude and disrespectful. she doesnt like to be questioned and obviously has some major personal issues.if u need an easy A, take the class,but NEVER question her and just nod along.
She is the most offensive Professor I have ever had. She made a girl cry and run out of the room by getting everyone to (unknowingly) laugh at her essay. She is cruel, but if you can put up with her and what she says, its an easy A. To get an A on assignments,just talk about how you loved the dance.

Prof. Magee is by far the most unprofessional teacher at PCC. She forces you to attend her shows in order to pass the class. I've never seen a portrayal of Michael Jackson quite so trashy. She only likes you if you're black and kiss her ass. Shes uneducated and pathetic. Don't take this class!
Im currently taking Professors Magees pilates class and it is FUN! At first i was kind of scared taking her class after reading her reviews but I'm so glad I didnt go with what ppl said. She is kind of mean sometimes but I dont think she means any harm by it. Some people attended the class not being ready to WORKOUT and i think that really bugs her
Professor Magee is wonderful. I took palites with her it was great I got an "A" and a six pack abs. Just show up on time and don't leave early fallow simple instruction get an "A".I also took Dance History 21 A.Don't believe what you read the negative comments are students that are bitter because they didn't get an "A" in super easy classes.
This professor. Let's just say. She's the reason why I can't transfer to university. She does review games the class before the quiz, if you answer 5 or more, you don't even need to show up for the next class. Well, I'm always exempted. Automatic A. Noooo. She gave me a C in class because she doesn't like my review on her show. Just 'cause.
This professor is great to students she likes and can be really horrible to students that she doesn't like. I was a preferred student and I STILL had a problem with her favoritism and lack of professionalism. All in all I would call her a little bipolar. She can be very sweet, and truly unkind&unreasonable. Do the work and don't draw attention.
Although it is somewhat walking on eggshells with this professor, she is a very sweet lady (most of the time) and is very helpful. I took her for pilates with no experience and left knowing so much more knowledge about my own body strength and overall wellness. She is comforting and does not embarrassingly point of out flaws.
Terrifying, purely terrifying. This teacher is absolutely unprepared for anything that she does. The tests are pathetically prepared (out of 50 questions on test, 49 answers were A). Overall, useless class, with an useless professor. Only take this class if you want an A.
Horrifying, she considers herself to be a prodigy. she says shes from the "ghettos" so it was hard growing up. guess that's why she cant trust anyone in the class except fellow blacks and gays. overall easy A. dont even need to read the book. just dont bother buying it at all

She is sweet to few students. She was neutral to me. I never really hated her nor loved her. She didnt mess with my grades so its all good. She grades biasly. If she doesnt like you, expect her to make excuses why she gave you C on her journal eventhough you got everything in them. Reconsider before applying for her class
Basically if you just want an easy A take this class. Just don't even talk to her. I never talked to her and she was always nice to me. But once you say something negative about Dance she will hate you forever. She's really weird and defensive but I didn't mind. Sometimes it was amusing to watch her bash on other students... Tests were so easy!

Rudest lady I have ever met. She gets away with the way she talks to people because of tenure and she is the only professor who can teach this class. I had to take her to transfer with humanities. She has multiple personalities and shes a witch! I felt punished in her class! I used to be interested in dance. The mandatory 5 concerts are expensive!
Easy A but if you take her you will have to put up with a lot. Best thing is to keep to yourself and never talk when she is talking. When she doesn't like someone the whole class will know. She loves dance but she is very defensive.
Took Dance 2 with Magee (health & fitness). I didn't know we were going to be dancing, so that was a bit of a shocker. She CAN be intimidating and defensive; however, she's a passionate teacher and I really do think she wants you to learn and understand dance. Overall, it's a fun class... also, the Mariah Carey tracks were a plus. ;D
She is what you could expect in a real dance class. She takes her passion for dance very seriously, which makes her seem "rude" but she's really not. I enjoyed her a lot!! If you are taking a beginning class modern/jazz expect to do barre, she loves her ballet! attendance is super important
She seems sweet on the outside but soon you see the true her. There was this horrible tension in the class because everyone was afraid that she would turn on them. Very unreasonable, unfair, obstinate, and pretentious prof. You get a good workout but you will not enjoy the class because you will be uncomfortable and afraid. Best not to take.
I wouldn't recommend taking her class. She is super rude in terms of letting students be expressed verbally. She acts like she's the best instructor in the major and has a snobby attitude about herself. She wasn't enthusiastic at all and I eventually grew tired of dancing in that class. Don't take her class! I'm so glad it's finally over.

She is arrogant, dismissive & rude. She spends half of the class talking bad on other teachers/school and the other half giving unclear instructions & sloppy examples. She was always cordial to me but I cant stand unprofessional teachers. If you ask a simple question be prepared for a nasty comeback. also her "lectures" are repeated nonsense.
If you have the patience to sit through a class where the professor talks about the syllabus and herself for majority of the time, then this is the right class for you. But if you can't stand wasting your time then DON'T DO IT. Show up, participate, show interest, don't ask stupid questions, do your work, and I guarantee you it's an easy A.
Just an awful person in general. She is so defensive and will embarrass her students and put them on the spot. Honestly one of the worst professors at pcc. Good luck if you must take her.
I took Magee for Ballet and she didn't give clear instructions and belittled a student who asked, "What's the proper form?" for the entire semester even after the girl dropped. There were no instruction on basics or safety you were to told figured it out as you do it. It could be an easy "A'" but you'll only be able to fake ballet moves.
She seems like a decent professor, but also an idiotic one. She's lazy to grade your work but she'll still give you a grade but based on impression. Basically, in order to gain a "good grade" in her book just be really nice to her. Do not talk back, even if you're just simply "asking a question". Easy A, but hard to deal with every class meeting.
Her feedback/comments on assignments are very rude. It obviously is meant to be good criticism for you to be a better writer, but the comments will always go too far and make you feel a little less confident when doing your future assignments. The vibe with her is just not comfortable at all and not worth dealing with every class time.
Worst ballet/general dance teacher of all time. She not only is disrespectful towards students but actively tries to make you feel bad if you so much as ask "what's fifth position". If you cross her she'll make sure she yells at you every class thereafter. She can't take questions bc she considers them critizism. I love ballet. She made me hate it.

She treated me so harshly on my dancing every class after and made me cry many times in class (to which she yelled "stop crying". I tried to turn her in but PCC kept giving me the run around
On the first day of class, she was having level one ballet students attempt pirouettes, without any info on form, structure, or even prepping them. That is how people get hurt. Also, she didn't teach how to spot, and said it wasn't important yet. From experience, if you don't learn from day one it's hard to pick it up later. Don't take her class.
This class seemed to last forever each day I had it and was impossible to get through- so boring, not hard. Attendance is the only thing that matters. She doesn't know how to structure her class- we spend forever on barre then she wants to do floor work when we have 10 mins left in the class and goes over for 20 mins. Don't feel like I've improved.
Worst professor Ive ever had in my life! Very disrespectful with her students! If you miss her class for a day would drop your grade quickly to an F. Her feedbacks are inappropriate towards students works. If you dont participate in open discussion she will drop your grade as well; unorganized to class. Youll NOT learn a thing in her class!
This professor is extremely unprofessional and rude. She is difficult to understand. Doesn't understand technology. We are all learning new things due to COVID 19 but she does not help students. When I asked a question she would be accusatory and rude and unkind. I would not reccommend taking a class with her.
Online class was very disorganized and confusing. When I would ask questions to try to understand the online format better, she would get very defensive and rude and act like I was attacking her personally. Also it honestly seems to lazy that just she just assigns YouTube videos to watch for class rather than doing live Zoom classes.
Communicates poorly and is very unprofessional. This was an online class and she expects heavy use of the online forum. I did participate yet she dropped me claiming I did not participate in the assignment. I recommend a real professional who wants to work.
Professor Magee is very fair. If you respect her she will respect you. I would frequently message Prof. Magee if I had any questions and she was always lovely. Prof. Magee did her best to be as clear as possible when it came to what she expects from each assignment. If you do every assignment, as directed, you will pass.
I'll be honest, I was dreading taking this class because of all the reviews. But professor Magee is not as difficult. She is sensitive to the bad attitude though, so all you have to do is to show respect and willingness to work hard. I'd take her class again if needed. She actually turned out to be pretty generous grader, and a genuine person too.
There's no tests or quizzes, but expects you to write reports every week as discussions. Took it for an 8 week class, the most boring class ever. She also includes lessons that have nothing to do with dance. It should be a history class instead of dance history. She also sends out multiple emails about not completing homework.
Trust the reviews, I unfortunately did not read them before. She’s incredibly rude towards students, she does not give clear instructions, proper feedback or a chance for someone to fix their mistakes. I’ve truly never met a professor like her. Don’t waste your time with this class
I took this class expecting to learn about the history of dance but apparently I was taking history class. Hard to understand what is going on as she jumps around from different topics and seems as if she teaches what she is in the mood for. Horrible teacher and even worse class, avoid this class and professor at all costs.
All I have to say is that in 1 semester alone 3 students have gone to the dean about her behavior....... If that doesn't say something about her and her class, I don't know what else will. Also, her responses to students are disrespectful at times. She has a temper for sure!
I took her for my first year which was fall 2021 and if I knew about "rate my professor", I would've known not to take her but I didn't know. She gives so much work and doesn't really explain it. My grade could've been better but I just didn't understand and she wasn't any help. She would get defensive when you wanted to talk about your grades.
This is by no means a traditional course. Professor Magee is very knowledgeable about the course material and does not give tests or homework. However, attendance and participation are highly graded. Can come off a bit rude at times and is not very clear with instructions. Overall, an easy course if you're willing to put in a little effort.

Prof, Magee used to be very nice but she has changed. Her attitude towards her students is so disrespectful and harsh. Simple questions lead to aggressive comebacks and insulting words. She is a great dance teacher, and will make you strong, but her mood swings are very unpredictable and create a gross atmosphere in the studio.
I had this professor for both dance history and ballet 1. In both classes she was very disorganized and rude. She was always inconsistent with her mood, gave rude responses when anyone asked for clarification on assignment guidelines and due dates, and actively ignored me when asking questions throughout class. Wouldn't take from her again.
Funny that she made a big deal about emotional intelligence, when she miscommunicated and left me under the impression that I shouldn't bother coming to class if I'm late, puts blame on me for not listening and then tells a similar story about another student. That's on you if it keeps happening. Substitute was better. "Beginner" class is too hard.
Absolutely terrible. Makes it seem like shes very open and friendly, but her syllabus and attitude in class to students is very rude, but demands "honor". No talking at all because she thinks youll gossip about her/yell at you for saying one thing to someone else. She never explained anything and just says that youll eventually learn by copying.
Sent a complaint and was met with retaliation and she threatened to drop me from her class. All I asked was for her to go over basics and explain it for a Ballet I beginner course but was aggressively pushed back, but shouldve seen it coming when I observed her attitude in person and from her syllabus list. In class, saw a student completely shut down and she looked so sad and needed help or rather someone to talk to, but instead the teacher just kept ignoring everything even when she couldn't even follow the steps and gave up and stopped moving. nothing from the teacher to help her or anything. what kind of teacher or even person does that.
AVOID. TRUST. dont drop when its too lateee!! the good reviews are from people whove never danced and they dont understand that theyre doing everything wronggg! ur too scared to say anything in class and you cant even ask for help because shell yell at u for talking if it isnt giving her compliments.

I would never take another class with Professor McGee. She was the worst she had an attitude.
Professor Magee is wise and has a slightly non traditional style of teaching, especially online classes. It's not rocket science to adapt to it. You have to actually use your brain and think critically to succeed in her class.
Here's the thing— Prof. Magee's reputation precedes her but having taken her Ballet I course, it seems to me that most students don't recognize that she has an old school manner, especially for ballet, and will not coddle you, which I think rubs some students the wrong way. She just wants you to afford the respect she feels is due to the art
Magee is difficult to deal with. Respectfully, she is a prima. It's almost like she's competing with her students. The advice she gives comes off very conceited and selfish. Students brought actual concerns about their safety from other students to her and she completely dismissed like it's not her duty to protect her students or even help.
This class with Professor Magee is quite unconventional. While she is knowledgeable, her teaching style can be disorganized and at times rude. Attendance and participation are heavily weighted, but the grading and instructions can be unclear. However, Unstuck AI proved helpful for managing the workload.
