Hard, but not impossible. Class time is a waste -should be telecourse. Will do well if agree with all of his opinions. Very disappointed in what could have been a very good class. Avoid this teacher at all costs.

Statistics isn't fun no matter who teaches it, but I had a horrible experience in his class. He expects a great amount and doesn't teach anything. The class is a waste of time.

Run and don't look back. Williams is just plain crazy. All he does is go on and on about life...very judgemental!

When you ask questions he asks the whole class "well?..who knows the answer?" but in an arogant mean way, making you feel like you're an idiot for not knowing the answer already. If you need a caring teacher who helps his students and encourages questions then avoid him.

I had this man for 'Families in Transition' and it was a joke. Dr. Williams assigned the groups in class, and each group was to read a chapter of the book and present. A great way for him, as the INSTRUCTOR, to get out of teaching! I can't believe I paid to have my classmates teach me. It was ridiculous. DON'T take the class. Waste of time and $.

He's a useless teacher. He doesn't teach and expects you to get a 100 on all of the tests. Don't ever take Social Problems with him.

Hardest, most horrible teacher I have ever had. He'd give power point lectures that didn't make any sense and then the tests would have nothing to do with what he went over in class. I took him for a telecourse. He didn't show up for the class intro day. The syllabus makes no sense and the actually telecourse shows were not tested on. He bases it out of the book. His questions were worded all confusing. I waited 45 minutes at a study session he set up for him to not show up. I would not recommend taking him. There was no homewo

I am an A student, and love to learn. This Prof. is agenda oriented, and his requirements, discussion questions, qizzes, exams, and research paper have rediculous requirements! He is aloof, and mean spirited. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!

The worst teacher I ever had! This class was so hard and required more studying than all my other classes put together, also he does not answer emails. If you want to actually learn sociology and not end up hating it because he makes it so difficult, chose a different teacher. 120 pts on the exams with only 45 minutes to answer.

Just got around to rating this guy: he is a complete ASS!! And a crappy teacher. He doesnt care about his students, only himself. His timed tests are ridiculous and the requirements for his paper are complete BS, much like himself. I advise you to stay away from this guy.

I've had enough experience with good/bad profs to emphatically state this guy is horrible. Mean spirited, tries to make you fail. He expects FAR more than any human being can handle. I have taken many online courses and this is far the worse. he gives you timed quizzes that there is no way feasible to finish in the time allotted.

He is a really bad teacher in the way that he doesn't teach you anything and has horrible timed quizzes and tests that are impossible to do good in because he doesn't even give you enough time to read the questions. He also has this stupid research paper that has guidelines that are impossible to abide by. And you HAVE to all him DR. WILLIAMS!

Worst Professor! If I have learned one thing from this class it is to drop a class when you know you have a horrible professor. Do not take a class from this professor no matter what! My GPA is ruined because of this impossible professor. I love sociology and am an honor's student (at least I was before I took this class!)

He is probably the worst professor I have ever had. His test and quizzes are nearly impossible unless you have memorized the chapters they cover word for word. All his quizzes and tests are worded so each answer sounds right but not exactly worded right. Assignments took me around 3-4 hours each just to do the minimum requirements (2credit cl)

WORST PROFESSOR EVER!! I had him for an online class and he expected you to take a 60 question test in 45 min, 3 chapters a week with 30 questions (all short answer), 3 quizzes a week, and you had to post to the discussion board 3 times a week! Not to mention the minimum of 10 page research paper that i made 20 pages and got a D!!! STAY AWAY!!!

I took this class as a high school student who wanted to experience college first hand and to dual enroll. This class is impossible to do well in. He is self absorbed and has no interest in helping his struggling students. I would NOT recommend him or his class to anyone.

This was the most frustrating and disappointing class I've ever taken at Grand Rapids Community College. I pride myself on my study habits and commitment when taking a class. Those characteristics do not matter here. I received a B-disappointing because prior to this my grades have been straight As. I would steer clear of this class.

Horrible Professor never seen a syllabus 20 pages long. He expect you to do all his work in a weeks time that is impossible. The time that he gives you for the quizzes is not realistic and also for the time that he gives your the tests is unreal. I have never took a online class that assignments end on Friday at 5:00 pm, always on Sunday. DROP NOW!

HORRIBLE. I unfortunately had him for 2 classes. Does not appear to like teaching at all. Checked all my "wrong" answers to test Q's, and his Q/A choices are incorrect! Even with things DIRECTLY out of the book! Email does no good, as he is rude, cold, and unhelpful. Unreasonable amount of work, posted only Monday, but due Friday at 5pm. Stay Away!

Ridiculous amounts of busy work. I have no idea what is even going on in this class. Everything is a mess and so confusing.

The setup of this class is completely backwards and I do not understand why the work week ends on fridays at 5 pm. Prepare for one of the most complicated classes you will have in your semester.

He wasn't very helpful and when he help he sounded rude, as if you should know the answer to the questions you asked him. The work load is way too much. 30 discussion board questions one week, 12 quizzes the next, and then an exam. It took up all of my time. Sometimes I'd find the answer in the book and it'd still be marked wrong on the quiz/exam.

I usually go on here to see how they will be but I ignored everyones comments for this professor. I have a 3.5 and never drop classes but had to drop this one. Too much busy work and the quizzes and tests are way too specific its impossible to find plus it is timed. DO NOT TAKE HIS ONLINE CLASS. Makes you find sources in library instead of online.

Started the online class early. Was behind the first week and after emailing you knew he was a bad professor. Dropped it due to being online summer accelerated class and was a week behind.

Avoid at all costs! I took Psych Stats CW online, big mistake! Had a 3.8 GPA but got a C:( The class was essentially you get assigned chapters in the book, then CW tests you on the most obsqure questions imaginable. No use going to office, he doesn't know answers to your questions so he won't help. I have had many profs, he's one of the worst ever

He put so much emphasis on the fact that he has his doctorate but doesn't act like it. Someone with that level of education, I would expect to be a little more involved and understanding. Assignments are BS, so much work for so little points. I finally learned that I can get an app that converts my words to text to save me hours of hw for 5 pts

I questioned an answer via email and got no response. Complete lack of participation in the class from this Professor other than to make the first announcement about himself. I did get an A and had to work for it. Tons of reading and the questions on the quizzes weren't ones you answered in the homework.

Took this class online and it was the worst mistake ever. Tests and quizzes are tough and he expects you to answer 20 questions in 20 minutes and questions are not referred to really in the book. Exams are 120 questions long and he gives you about 30 seconds to answer each question. Horrible class and very tough. Would not recommend.

To start off, I was informed that it had to be a BRAND NEW $300 textbook. I enrolled late and missed the first week. Emailed him asking if I could make it up and, he replied with a really nasty message, since then I haven't had any good luck. His syllabus stated students were to contact him via email and address him in a format of "Dr. Cedric Williams, or Professor Cedric Williams will you please..." or #1 they wouldn't be responded to and #2 (5) pts are deducted from grade. The most difficult professor I have ever taken. Makes you read 3 chapters a week, is incredibly specific and demanding, and offers little to no help. To top it off, he assigned a 10 page research paper worth half of the overall grade. I had to drop because I couldn't handle it with the rest of my classes.

It was an online course. He was seemingly unwilling to work with me with questions or concerns. It seemed like he was really annoyed with me. I was really struggling with how the course worked online because the syllabus was very confusing. I felt like I was left in the dark in my own education. Maybe the class/prof is better in person?

By far the worst professor I have had. I ended up dropping the class. He jam packs a week with 3 chapter of reading followed by a week of quizzes that you really can't study for as he locks out MySocLab and tells you to learn everything from the book (basically you have to remember the entire chapter x 3). Trust me-you do not want him for on-line

The class I took with him was the worst experience I have had with a professor. He showed no sign of caring or interest in the success of his students. Im not even sure he cares about what he is doing. I took an online class and it was so confusing. No communication from him at all. Would definitely not recommend or take this class again.

His directions are not very clear and hes very rude when you email him to ask for feedback and/or help. He also doesnt put grades in until the very very last minute so you have virtually no idea what youre receiving until the end of the semester.

Dr Williams (as he needs to be called to make him seem important) was the worst professor I havve had in my years of being a CC and Ferris. One paper is worth 40% of your grade and he nitpicks the smallest details on it. He isnt helpful at all when you ask him questions either. Just another prof thinks hes better than everyone.. He has an incessant devotion to making students call him"Dr.", and will mark your grade down if you don't refer to him as "Dr.", but after several calls to the sociology department, I learned that he is a Doctor of Divinity, which Kanye West also holds, and requires no schooling. This says it all- worst class I took in undergrad.

I have never been more confused in my life than having this person as my professor. He teaches you nothing, he expects from you everything, and he gives you confusing feedback with a frustrating grade. It takes him more than two weeks to grade a simple one page work cited paper, and gives you two sentence feedback that is confusing and useless.

If you dont need this class dont take it. There is a liberal bias worst Ive experienced. Even my democrat girlfriend thought the stuff he said was ridiculous. Cedric was a horrible professor. I have had her twice & would never take her again. She is completely rude to her students and genuinely does not care about her students. If you address her you better make sure to acknowledge that she is a "Dr" otherwise, she goes ballistic. She wants every one of her students to know that she is better than you.

Professor Williams, or Dr. Williams as he so needs to be called (or else he will correct you) was by far the worst prof I've ever had. He doesn't grade a lot of the stuff until the end of the class so you don't know what you can improve on. He also has an essay worth 30% of your grade and he marks down for the SMALLEST things. He does not seem to care about the students at all, or if they pass the class. The first day he said "You guys can drop if you want to, I get paid either way." A teacher is supposed to want you to succeed in their class and he certainly did not care. Hes seemed to have a sense of humor,but it was hard to tell if he was joking or really didn't care

Nothing says this class is a joke like a 10 page research paper worth 40% of your grade. The actual class is set up poorly: one week to do 3 chapters worth of online assignments, a quiz on each chapter the following week, then the exam over those 3 chapters the week after that. Buy the paperback book, it will make this class a LOT easier.

Cedric, sorry I mean "Dr. Williams" oftentimes gives ultimatums about how you will fail if ____. He also gives a 23 page instructional on a final research paper that feels doctoral level, bizarre for a 200-level class.

Dr. Williams was a terrible professor. He does not teach a single thing, just makes you read chapters and take quizzes/exams. Then you write a paper worth 40% of your grade. I spent hours on this paper and still did not feel it was meeting his insane criteria. This steers me away from sociology all together.

I took this course online to save money from my home university and deeply regret it. although the course content isn't too difficult, Dr. Williams is power-hungry and is actively trying to screw over students. I emailed him to let him know that my internet crashed in the middle of my exam. didn't email back until 4:50, stating he reset the 60 question exam and that I only had until 5pm to finish, all while belittling me on when I should sacrifice all my time on his class and not working. Hated Dr. Williams. Worst professor ever. I emailed and asked for clarification on assignments, etc just to get NO clarification, just was told to look back and the explanation he gave. I felt humiliated and stupid even communicating with him. I cried when I couldnt figure out the assignments on my own and was extremely stressed.

Do not take this class if you don't need to. I took multiple IB classes in high school, & this is still the hardest class I have ever had to take because of the INSANE assignments and criteria. He is too strict for a community college class. He is rude & condescending, & has made me (almost) cry numerous times. He does not care about his students.

Your grade basically hinges on a final research paper that is worth 40%, he gives no teaching instruction except for an out dated syllabus with contradictory information through out. If you ask for help, he replies with a vague answer or with an irritated tone. This professor lacks passion for his students and seems only to be there for the ckeck.

I had him for two classes at the same time (both SO classes) and instantly regretted it. It was the most homework I've had so far in any class. He is confusing sometimes and very "do exactly this". Final paper is worth 40% of your grade. Heavy homework. 3 chapters of roughly 4-5 assignments for each for one week, then quizzes on all 3, then an exam on all 3. Dont say hello in emails (points taken off), just Dr. Williams, body, your name. Would not do again, but it wasnt awful. He does have very clear instructors for the final paper though.

One paper due at the end of the semester that he is sooooo particular on. If you want to do anything in his class, make sure you follow his EXACT instructions or forget it. He acts like he's some higherpower and you are not allowed to email him/turn the paper in without a step by step format he makes you follow - even when your emailing him.

I just started this class and I'm horrified! The syllabus is in the most god awful font ever! He requires a Mindtap account for his class, I emailed him because I was curious if I could use a cheaper option like an online amazon textbook and I lost points because I said "hello!" instead of Dr Williams. I submitted sources for a paper, and he deleted the ones he approved off of my document so I couldn't access them again. Lost points for not addressing him in a third reply email. 10 page paper due and is no help at all if you have questions. DO. NOT. TAKE.

The class is basically a research paper which has to be done to his liking. Sent us an email with 31 mistakes that would be an instant fail. Is OBSESSED with being addressed as Dr or Professor, I had an email chain 8 emails long, and I sent one email where I only asked if a source was ok to use, and he said he was taking points of my grade.

This guy is a joke. Be sure to address him as "doctor" or "professor" as failing to do so will result in points being deducted from your grade. He over-explains everything and a lot of the information he drowns you with is contradictory, so it only adds to the confusion. You can earn extra credit by completing the quizzes and tests before Tuesday.

Firstly, you MUST call him Dr, even if you're about 6 emails down in a thread and he's stopped using your name (and never spelled it correctly in the first place) or he will take 10 points off of your work. Unaccommodating to the specific needs of his students - never dare hope for an extension under any circumstances. No teaching, only uses book.

This man is unreal. I'm in the middle of doing the paper, and he just failed my sources part when literally all of them are from his list of acceptable sources, so he's just tweaking for real. Not enough room. 90% of the online class is Revel assignments, additional $80 access fee on top of the tuition you already paid. Assignments due Friday by 5pm. Professor Williams is an extremely difficult professor not because of the class content, but the way he carries himself. He has condescending responses. The professor was unnecessarily harsh. His syllabus is a mix of lower case and all caps and also contradicts itself greatly. He discourages questions and makes you feel stupid for not reading the syllabus, even though it doesn't make any sense. Dr. Williams inherently disrespects his students, has no regard for their well being or their grade, and does not provide any meaningful feedback at any point in the semester. He is unforgiving (even when you haven't made any mistake) and he uses Pearson because he is too lazy to teach yet expects his students to memorize the syllabus.

I haven't taken him but several classmates of mine are in his course and are extremely stressed out with his requirements and syllabus-related content, as their last essay is 40% of their grade is boy, is he picky! GRCC hasn't had very good SO professors. Check other schools for these classes, its worth transferring courses for good teachers!

I truly believe he cares more about being addressed as Dr than teaching a single thing about soc

The professor never provided lectures or actual teaching&#8212;just assigned book work, quizzes, and exams. There was no real engagement or support for learning the material. I tried to communicate and explain my situation, but the professor was dismissive, rude, and showed no compassion. I wouldn't recommend this professor to future students.

I would rather just off the stratosphere again but with no harness than take his class again. He was so rude not caring at especially in the field he's in you would think he would be more understanding. He gives you tons of work with quizzes on top plus an exam each week. He cares to much about being called Dr. he really made me want to drop out

Stressful! Switched platforms from Blackboard to Canva. professor is having troubles with it and he only gives his students 2-3 days to complete numerous tests and quizzes. Also, we have quizzes on the same chapters almost every week. One week they will be on Mindtap and the other on Canva. Scared to email him he threatens to take points off.

Instructions are confusing.

This class was a complete waste of time and money don't ever take a single class by this professor!! The research paper he gives you is a joke. Listen to every single bad review left from other students DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He is the most stuck up entitled professor I've ever met. Save yourself while you still can.

I mean take it if you dont have anything else to do because this is all you will be working on

This is the worst professor I have ever had- his work in unattainable, he does not help or email back ever. His gradating is inconsistent and most student fail his class. I highly suggest taking another class. The class itself was moderate however he was terrible. -100/10
