An awesome first year prof!

Prof. Sidloski was the reason I kept taking English. I was fortunate enough to have transferred into her class a couple weeks into my first year. She was so helpful, entertaining, and kind. She picked good readings and went over them thoroughly. Thank you Celene, you are what a prof should be!

Celene is excellent with poetry interpretation, and even better with teaching. She really works to help students succeed, not only in her class but in their other and future classes as well. She's very open to other interpretation and enjoys class participation. Check your grammer skills before entering the class and you'll have a great experience.

Oh what an awesome class!!! I loved poetry before and like it even more now, and understand it better too! She goes in depth in discussions (often loses track of time!). Really helpful with essays and improving your work. Has good stories, and even learns most names! I thinks he really wants her students to succeed.

Professor Sidoloski is an awesome teacher! She is very interested and knowledgeable with poetry and makes class interesting. We studied the poems by discussing as a class and she was always open to student interpretations. Quick at marking and made helpful comments. Thanks Professor!

Prof. Sidoloski is a joy to study under. Her enthusiasm for whatever subject she's speaking on is catching, and while she does on occasion wander off topic, its always at least in some way helpful. I would reccomend her.

She's super fun and really nice. She has a clear way of teaching and is always willing to meet with students for extra help. From what I've heard about other prof's, Celine is the best!

Celene is a wonderful prof and person; she told you what you needed to do and improve to get the mark that you wanted, and went out of her way to help. She has great stories, and really loves English literature; she knows what she is teaching, and makes class fun. Definately recommend.

Took a poetry class with prof. Sidloski and I'd have to say it was one of the most enjoyable classes I've taken thus far. She is clear, does not rush the class, and even took extra time with out class in improving essay skills--even though it was a poetry class. The material was great, good variety, and she delivered it exceptionally well.

class was interesting.. but a tough marker... sometimes if u write the exact thing she said.. she wont be statisfied.. does not respond to emails.. for final essay she was not around at all for help it was worth over 20%.. if u know ur english.. then ur goos to go.. if u r week in it.. then all the best with her..

She is easy to understand, she welcomes students to come to her for help, and she is ver approachable.I have learned so much from her. She has a high standard but she helps you achieve it. By the end of the class, you'll be a better writer and a better analytical reader for it. I would defintely recommend her class.

She is an amazingly helpful and understanding professor. She extended the deadlines for essays a couple of times for me because I had requested them. I think she is very understanding. One of the sweetest profs out there. I'd definitely recommend her.

She is very approachable and willing to help all students. She loves class discussion and welcomed it when I disagreed with her or took an opposite point of view. She is an excellent teacher of close-reading of a text. She is a wonderful prof. Take a class from her if ever you have the oppertunity!

Have mixed feelings about her as a prof, she ca be very stereotypical of teenagers and is not open to different interpretations but when you see her in person she is very nice and helpful. I strongly recommend making appointments with her for every essay, she is very helpful, but dont mention different opinions and write only on her interpretations

Celene is an excellent professor. She generally is a bit of a tough marker, but she only does it because she wants you to improve, and, trust me, you will. Her lectures are very enjoyable despite the fact that she often goes off on tangents. A word of caution: She is an STM prof, so if you have a problem with people talking about religion, beware.

Prof Sidloski is an amazing prof. She knows and loves what she is talking about. Lectures were very interesting. However, she is a very hard marker. If you're taking the course of of interest, I would highly recommend Sidloski, but if you're looking for easy marks, you won't be getting them from her.

Celene is amazing. She is incredibly passionate and WILL make you a better writer. She's not a tough marker. She's a fair marker. I've noticed a lot of people say that hers is the only opinion she'll accept as correct. This is false. All you need to do is formulate a sensible argument and have real evidence to back it up. Take her class!

Makes you work for every mark & she WILL make you a better writer and genuinely cares about your work. Always smiling and takes interest in students' lives. She voices her opinion but allows students to provide an idea as well but every idea has to be backed up with textual evidence. If you enjoy English, would recommend. Don't expect easy mark.

I would definitely recommend someone to take her class. She cares for her students and goes the extra mile for them. No quizzes but there papers you need to write. Don't hesitate to ask questions regarding your paper, she will try her hardest to help you become an effective writer.

Really cares about her students. Makes you work for your mark, but helps you get there. Very kind and down to earth. Extremely religious but other than that amazing prof. Make sure you go to class, she tells you literally everything word-for-word you need to pass the exams and write the papers.

I love her! By far my best class and I had to work for every mark but she WILL make you a better writer and reader. You learn so much about the literature as well as the world. If I could take every English class with her, I would. Her class and enthusiasm for literature helped convince me to pursue an English minor. Best class of my whole year.

Celene is an amazing prof. She is one of the most caring profs I have ever met to this day. She doesn't teach out of a textbook and she is very knowledgeable. She gets off topic sometimes, but it's always a nice break from the work she gives us during class. She makes the classroom feel like a community where no one is afraid to be wrong.

Professor Sidloski was an amazing professor! She truly cares about her students and their success. She definitely will make you work for your grade but if you are struggling at all just meet with her and she will help you out. Professor Sidloski was my all time favorite prof, and I will always remember how much she cared about her students.

Incredible professor. You can tell she really cares about the content she teaches and about the students in her class. She is a fair grader, and truly wants to see everyone succeed. She makes lots of jokes. She sometimes goes over class time but she makes sure to let you go early on another day. Even if you don't love english class, youll love her.

This is a grammar course and it's very heavy in material. The material made this course hard, but Sidloski was amazing at teaching. She made sure it was fun, and I'm amazed she made grammar fun. She also brings snacks to class because she gets that sitting in class is boring.

The class was hard just because of the subject, but she gives amazing feedback and is willing to work with her students. She helps you grow a lot as a student and definitely helps you get better grades after you've taken her class. 10/10 would recommend her, as she also does drinks and snacks once a week to keep attendance high.

Professor Sidloski is a real gem. She has an excellent understanding in grammar, and this shows through her amazing teaching style. She is hilarious and truly cares about every student and wants every student to succeed. Classes are mandatory but content is not hard. She gives great feedback after tests and is so helpful if you have questions.

I used to be so afraid of poetry and little did I know that I would love and appreciate it so much! Though she doesn't give easy As, she will make sure you understand what you did wrong and will teach you the art of writing a proper essay (so no fear!). Her lectures are super interesting and she allows us to deeply discuss each poem we read.

Sidloski made learning about grammar so interesting. Though the content can be somewhat tricky at some points, she made sure we understand everything to the best of our ability. She does give lecture outlines, but it would not make sense unless you attend class. This class has also helped me improve my grammar in my essays! Easy A for sure!

This is the only class that I found was pretty hard, but in the best way possible. Celene knows her stuff, and is willing to help you out as much as you need and then some. All in all, I think it's a great idea to take one of her classes to better your writing career in academia.

Best professor i have ever had! Real and genuine person who wants the class to succeed and get high marks! grades fairly and her lectures are super entertaining! no computers, no textbook, just come to class everyday and its so easy to learn the material from her! i recieved my highest grade ever by over 10% than my second highest grade.

Professor Sidloski is an amazing person and she always wants her students to do their best. She can be a little strict with how students should behave in her class but she is very helpful and makes sure that her lectures arent boring.

I spent many lunches chilling with her in STM while she helped me with my English essays for classes she didn't even teach. A very wise and kind woman who saw the best in everyone. If you can take her class!!

She's very helpful and she puts her soul in what she's doing and you can tell that from her enthusiasm. I would recommend taking her class to anyone who wants to improve their writing. The only thing is that she tends to go off topic. A one hour and twenty minutes lecture could have been made in forty five minutes.

Other than the fact that she marks essays pretty hard for a first year class, she's still a really amazing woman. She is incredibly intelligent and makes you reconsider your views in life. She actually teaches too, explains your strengths and weaknesses to you so you can improve. I'm lucky to have met her as she's pretty memorable.

She knows what she's talking about when it comes to the subjects she teaches, however she grades very harshly for a first year class and has a lot of opinions that do not need to be shared with the class, as they have zero relevance to anything, and are sometimes just completely insensitive and inappropriate. (Also denies the severity of covid)

She really knows what she is talking about and is committed to helping you actually learn the material. She knows how to teach! It was a class completely centered around grammar and her teaching somehow made it easy AND enjoyable. Her teaching is the best, her opinions not so much. WARNING: has old-fashioned/offensive opinions which WILL be voiced

Professor Sidloski was the best prof I’ve ever had! Her class was such a pleasure to take. I enjoyed every minute. She is so inspirational and passionate about her knowledge and wisdom she shared with us. I learned so much, but most importantly, I learned to love pursuing truth and knowledge.

Professor Sidloski was an awesome teacher, she's good on what she's doing and her class lectures was enjoyable. She was always willing to help, she told us to not focus on grades but rather on what we're learning and that really helps me to do good on her class. She gave a thorough feedback on papers which is much appreciated.

She is very compassionate and great at explaining relatively complicated topics. I didn't expect to enjoy this course as much as I did. If you can get past some antiquated beliefs that make their way into her lectures then I suggest taking a class from this prof.

She is best professoer as she is deep knowledge of linguistic as took LING110 with her, her techaing techique is amazing and if you attain her all class it becomes very easy to score a good marks as she test on what she has taught in class. Overall she is awesome.

Celene is a very caring professor. she is so willing to help with basically anything. her lectures were fun and she even bought us pizza one lecture while helping with our essays. i highly recommend taking a class with professor sidloski!

I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Sidloski's class. She made her lectures interesting and I looked forward to going to class. Being in her class was so refreshing as she genuinely cared about us and our learning. Yes, she marks hard but she tells you she will and that it's to further your skills. If you work to make the changes she notes, you can do well.

She is an amazing prof who communicates the material to her students so effectively. Since she teaches so well and makes the material seem easy, you still have to give your all if you want good grades. Do the all of the practice questions she gives out, ATTEND every lecture and you'll most likely pass with high 90's. I'd rate her class 11/10!!

The course material is interesting. While her lectures may come across as monotone at times, she is very passionate about teaching. The only thing I didn't like was her tendency to keep students after class for a few minutes, seemingly forgetting that students might have other classes to attend immediately afterward.

I love her! Always refreshes what we did from last class, really passionate of what she does and very caring! She makes first year a breeze when you take it! Def take this course if you need an "easy" elective. Easy because of her enthusiasm. You do need to do homework (not marked) before lectures to help you for future assessments!

She is my favourite prof in all my years at university. A likeable personality, great teaching ability. One time she caught a student on their phone during a lecture. She told him to put it away then made him come to the front of the class to solve a question on the board. She patiently helped him solve it and once he understood let him sit down.

Favourite prof at u of s, genuinely loves what she does and tries her hardest to make class fun and get people involved. Likes to give opportunities for extra credit. Memorizes all her students names and is the sweetest lady. She is very direct and doesn't tolerate phone usage or disruptions. Not much hw, and if u do it, can be a pretty free class.

I had her earlier this year and she still remains my favorite professor so far. She's very knowledgeable in the humanities and accessible out of class by virtue of being an STM professor. Lectures were all lively and insightful, though she frequently inserted her traditionalist polemics into them. I wouldn't recommend her if you can't handle that.

Dr Sidloski was pretty much what a student should want in a prof: respectful, educated, helpful, etc. That being said, you still need to earn her respect; she doesn't do handouts. Just participate in class, do what she asks you to do with effort, and pay attention to the little tips she throws out. You'll leave her class a better reader and writer.

Dr. Sidloski was a very passionate prof, you can tell she loves what she does. She made an effort to talk to each student and learn their names. She had no problems re-explaining challenging concepts. However, nothing was posted on canvas so it is mandatory to attend class.

Attendance is random to keep students engaged and you have to recite a poem by memory in front of the whole class. Definitely recommended though!

This elective is far from my major, yet very interesting. Attending class was key as I earned 90 without much outside study. The professor is kind, even saying “I love you” to the class. I once dropped it online since it felt hard, so don't take it online if you want a good grade. In person, it changed my view completely and taught me a lot.
