On the first day, the class started off as a regular english class but then eventually we were being taught about politics...go figure..
Fun teacher. Gives lots of days off. She is fairly disorganized which can be distracting. Nice - Good teacher.

She is def. a different type of woman. You write 3 papers all having something to do with Fairy tales. She is kind of a hard grader, and classes are a little redundant, but not too bad
Unorganized- lost papers & forgets to bring essentials. Confusing grader- she'd take out comma's in my paper, then in the revision put them back in. Easy A cuz of all the revisions... if you don't die from boredom first.

If you like fairy tales take this course. She is a nice lady, but a little out there. She is willing to help, but not always helpful advice. some hard reading material to follow.
The class really sucks major**** do not take her. Very confusing to follow what exactly she wants from you. And the reading materials for the class sucks. She is super boring, hard to stay up during her class. Hard grader, but allows revisions.
She is a nice lady. I enjoy getting out early and the days off that she gives us. The readings can be hard and the essay promts can be unclear at times, but she allows revisions. The grammer test get annoying after a while because she nit picks at small errors over and over. Discussions VERY boring.

Very nice lady, a litlle weird at times but funny. Course revolves around 3 short essays and precises. All the work is at beginning of semester and then you hang out and watch movies toward the end. Very hard grader but allows for peer reviews and revisions. Course is about fairytales!!!
this class is cake. I am one of those "regular" students. party too much and don't study enough and i pulled off a B no problem. Take her. She will make herself available even outside of her office hours. Just don't be a stupid mofo in her class and you'll do fine.
This class straight up sucks! It's on Fairytales... so you think "Oh this should be easy." ****. You would not believe the crap she comes up w/ in these fairytales. Celia is not the best teacher. Her prompts are very unclear and essays are difficult to write. However, you are able to rewrite most of the essays, which is a big plus. That is all.

She gives the most difficult essay prompts possible. She's also very unclear on her comments for revisions and always changes what she wants you to do with it. Class is hard and very boring.
SHe's not terrible, just grades hard. I got A- on all 3 of my papers which was what the class was all about in the first place, WRITING.but in the end I ended up with a C b/c of her quizzes from the readings. Also she takes attendance c'mon this is not high school. Overall lectures are worthless just go to class do well on the quizzes & the essays
I’m not sure what happened but somehow I ended up with a B in the class when I swear I was going to get an B+ or A- at least. Class is boring and she grades the essays really tough. Try and take someone else if you can, but she's not horrible, but just not recommended.
She was very unhelpful this semister. Without my tutor I would have never passed. I didn't learn anything from her. Lectures are always off topic. Never saw any of my grades on my essays, so I'm not even sure if I did well on any of them. Try another professor or prepare to be frustrated.
All of her reading material for this semester is really political.. mostly liberal... and it was really really liberal...
TERRIBLE! get another teacher while you still can! Unclear on all assignments, asks stupid questions on quizzes that dont relate to what you were supposed to be quizzed on. Grades really hard on essays and dosent return them promptly. last semester we got ALL the essays returned 3 weeks before semester was over.
can you say LIBERAL? Get out unless you want to hear her beat her liberal drum all class long. Always goes past class time. Grades hard on essays but you can revise them. In class quizzes are completely irrelavent and difficult. Get out while you can!
she was pretty easy...essays graded like any normal professor, but she adds comments and you can redo them and get an A. She is VERY liberal, so if anyone is conservative, they might get very mad in this class.
Class was ok. Quizes are totally random, you pretty much have to memorize little irrelevent things based on the readings she gives, there are 10 questions based on 3 readings each week. She does let u redo essays 4 better grade, 3 essays + the final timed write. Repeats herself alot, talks slow. But I hardly worked n gotta B+, so its easy & boring
This class was totally easy. There were 2 essays plus the final. The final was a group essay and a presentation of that essay. There were quizzes on the readings, but on random things in the text. She is kind of confusing on what she wants you to write in the essays, but if you go to office hours she will let you rewrite essays.
LIBERAL. if you like hearing about 9/11 all the time and having essays surrounding this topic then you might be okay. she lets you re-do essays if you get a bad grade... still she is confusing and is never clear on what EXACTLY she wants. graded unfairly/ very harshly. in all truthfulness pretty lame class.go to all classes bc she marks attendance
I found her very helpful with essays. She raised my grade a whole letter just for going in and then i re-wrote it for an A. She really helped my essay writing. Her lectures were pretty boring though.
Sigmon is an okay professor she left a lot to be desired. The theme of the class was environmentalism and damn the class was bored as hell. But the revisions help. That's probably the only good thing. There's a group essay at end so it's not to bad but i don't feel like i improved as a writer all that much. Well i betta not bomb wpa. sb06
i actually really liked her!! she made the class fun and she acts like my mom so she made it comfortable...really EASY grader i did every essay the moring of and got a B the first time around without revising it...if you want to have a stress free RWS 200 experience TAKE HER!!
If you ignore the subject matter, she's a great teacher. She gives you a lote of input on your essays, and allows revisions to raise your grade. Unfortunately, however, she is a total left-winger and the whole class is focused on the effects of global warmng, which gets obnoxious by the fourth essay.
Reason why i am in RWS 280. Useless teacher... You dont learn anything about writing but if you can suffer through her rants and write a decent essay its an easy B.
Straight up this class STINKS!, VERY Left Wing LIBERAL, UNCLEAR on easays and doesnt like to help out students. A very tough/confusing grader, you dont know what B-S is she going to write on your papers. gives out Random Quizzes, unorganized. Basically overall boring and horrible tough essay prompts! TAKE SOMEONE ELSE, THIS CLASS AINT WORTH IT!
RWS is a joke. Another way SDSU can make a dollar. Professor Sigmon is disorganized. Plays favorites and is always unclear of what she is trying to convey. She changed the syllabus so many times.Yes, she allows you to revise essasy but the essays only count for 30 points toward the overall 300 oh, she changed that to 275.She should not be teaching
Prof Sigmon has a hard time telling you what she wants in regards to assignments. When trying to find some clarity her response was the tired, "I'm not going to do this for you." She was constantly unprepared for class and had to change her syllabus multiple times. A couple of the required readings were horribly outdated.
This class is useless. The professor needs to find another job. Yeah, I passed but it was not because of her or the class. Professor Sigmon is awful.
Prof Sigmon is very smart, i'll give her that. She really knows how to write and a lot about the english language, which is wonderful except for the fact that she cant teach this subject very well at all. She spent all of class time administering quizzes on the readings and the rest of the time going over those quizzes. Never learned how to write.
Prof. Sigman is nice and knows the subject well but she doesn't communicate her points across very well. Paper grading is hard but she lets you revise. There is 3 Essays (one in a group project), lots of quizes on the readings. Focuses on the reading part more than writing. Takes attendance every day.
This class was extremely unorganized. Each class was agonizing and the quizzes were based off memorization rather than the lesson. Her lessons were unclear and she assumed that students knew what she was talking about. The rewrites were fair but seemed to focus on making her happy rather than focus on the subject. Avoid her.
Take the night class!! She never makes you stay the full 2 hours & 40 minutes (we usually stay for an hour-an hour and a half) She provides a lot of group projects so class isn't boring so it's worth it since you only have to go once a week. 3 essays (one of them is a group essay 3-4 people) 2 presentations (both groups). Hard Grader.
She's really confusing sometimes, 3 papers, and rewrites. knows her stuff, but just doesn't know how to get it across. my paper was better than most in my group but i still got Cs. avoid if you can
This is an AWESOME teacher. SUPER EASY class if you just do the basics. LOVED HER CLASS. She truly is passionate about the environment and makes you interested as well. Overall class was easy. She gives quizzes every reading but she gives you the questions on a study guide beforehand so use it. There were 2 group projects and 2 individual essays, none were too bad except the 2nd individual essay so get help on it. She talks A LOT. A. LOT!! It takes a lot of time out of class. Skipped twice, still got an A-.
i seriously didn't learn anything in this class. there's a quiz for about every reading you do, 2 essays, 2 group presentations, and one group essay. just write decent essays that are long and give good feedback to your peers, this should get you at least a B on your essays. other than that it was a boring class
She offers tons of help in her office hours and outside of class. This is a fairly easy GE. The class itself is pretty boring.
TAKE THE NIGHT CLASS. It says its 2:40 min long but we have NEVER stayed more than an 1hr or 1hr30min. A few times we stayed for 30min. 2 essays, but they are revised 2 times, odds are you will get a good grade on it. Nice teacher, easy class. TAKE THE NIGHT CLASS
Really good teacher, I highly recommend her over the other RWS 200 teachers. Extremely helpful, especially if you go to office hours. Not too many essays to write and she doesn't make you do work or even get the textbook that the other RWS professors do. Quizzes everyday on readings, but the readings are short and the quizzes are easy.
I recommend taking a different Prof. for this class. Her essays are repetitive and boring. She loves to talk for hours about the environment which would have been interesting if it hadn't been about one side of the issue every class. Bottom line, this class was a waste of time.
SHe is very picky with what she wants to hear in your essays. (basically she wants to hear exactly her own opinions). I would not recommend her. There are better RWS profs to choose from.
Not many essays although the few that she gives us are complicated but they are overall doable.
Professor Sigmon is friendly and helpful, but very boring as a teacher. She does get off on long rants about "human induced climate change" almost every class. On the up side, she grades easily and usually gives you a chance to revise your writing. I got an A on every assignment, but I don't feel like I learned anything. Not an outstanding teacher.
very unorganized, would assign due dates and you would come to class and she would change the due date and say she messed up after all of your hard work. only wants to hear what she thinks in your essays. easy to get a good grade but will stress you out by switching information all of the time at the last minute. do not take!
Sigmon is super nice, but a scatter brained. Essays are super easy and she lets you do a rewrite after she grades them. One group project at the end that was extremely easy. She gives points for attendance so go. Most of the time she let us out extremely early. Easy A!!
This teacher is awful. She is very disorganized and most of the time she will assign something, and never collect it. She is very unapproachable, I cannot tell you how many times I've asked her something and she yelled at me for asking the question. Buy her course manual, you use it for all the assignments. Better yet, avoid her at all costs.
Easy Teacher, You can zone out in class. 3 Essays(No Final), In class Peer edit, Turn it in 2 days later, she gives it back to you with her comments, you have a week to finish and thats your grade on the essay. Quizes are Online/Take home that you work with a partner. Easy Class if your a good writer.

This lady is CONFUSING. Writing comes easy to me and I have never had a prof. like her. She literally gives you the thesis and outline and you better model your paper like that... or else. Conferences are helpful b/c she will basically rewrite the essay for you the way she wants it. Ditch your opinions and write what she wants and you'll do fine..
Very helpful, extremely sweet. Will take your essays up until the last day. Quizzes very easy, always willing to meet one-on-one. Definitely gives a LOT of help on essays. Would recommend showing up to all classes.
Takes attendance and there is weekly quizzes that you can turn in with a partner. 3 essays 1 is a group one. Throw any opinion you may want to include in your essay out if it doesn't match hers. She will say you are wrong and you will have to rewrite your whole essay to be about her opinion. GO TO OFFICE HOURS find out what she wants you to write.
Highly recommend. I was hesitant about taking this class because I never did well on papers, but she gives you criteria that needs to be followed and how everything should be formatted. Everything is handed to you and since you know what she is looking for all you have to do is follow the criteria. Makes it easy knowing what she's looking for
If you have to take this class, this is the teacher you want. 4 papers one is your resumecover letter. Last paper is a group paper and the first two can be rewritten. gives good feedback and is very helpful. Follow her feedback on your rewrites and you'll get an A on the paper. After a paper is due she cancels the next week of class. nice lady.
Do not take this class if you are looking for a class to develop your writing skills, have a brain or want to get an A. She corrects things and tells you to change them on your next draft and then when you do, she corrects it back to the original and marks you for it. Essays are only allowed to be on her opinion and class is INCREDIBLY boring.
This class honestly was a big let down. Sigmon fails to return essays on time and left us with 3 essays to finish in the last 2-3 weeks of school. She is an incredibly hard/unfair grader and class lectures are boring (always about the same topic - global warming). Just stay away from this teacher if you can.
She is the hardest essay grader. 3/4 of the class would receive a C+ on their rough drafts and she is very unorganized and focuses too much on other things. I have had to write two essays in a matter of the last two weeks of school... too stressful. Do not take her class.
4 essays throughout the semester and gives good feedback. However, I felt like I couldn't write about my own opinions without her shooting them down and "correcting" them. Just swallow your pride and go along with her opinions if you want to pass.
She is the absolute WORST teacher I have had at State. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Extremely long and boring lectures, she is a super tough grader, there's 4 essays in the entire semester yet she crams the last 2 essays in the last week of class. Avoid her at all costs
Don't take her, she grades you on your opinion more than your actual writing strategies. She wants everything done her way. She takes attendance and marks you off if you're late to class. Also, in the last 2 weeks of school she shoves in 2 of the 4 total essays in the class. Only good thing about her class is that the chairs have cup holders.
Her whole lectures are just her complaining about climate change. She doesn't really even teach us and rhetorical strategies or how to improve our writing. She basically does provide an outline to all the papers, but grades super hard if you don't have the exact same opinion as her. Show up to class to make sure you know what to write.
Sigmon is a nice lady, but she is oblivious on how to teach. Most of class is lecture/tangents and her prompts are so specific that all essays in the class turn out the same. If you have to take her class, show up, bring a laptop and talk once a class, go to office hours for extra credit, and try not to look bored to death. With this I managed an A
Although her lectures were quite interesting she would tend to go off on many tangents. Constantly I would see students browsing the internet during her lectures with her completely oblivious. She is very clear on what she wants and when I say this I mean she will mark down upon opinions and evidence that she did not discuss during lecture.
The biggest thing to know about Sigmon is that you need to tailor your writing to what she believes. Even though she says she wants you to write from whatever side you want to, DON'T DO IT. Make sure she believes in what you are writing no matter how painful, if you don't she will find reasons why your argument is invalid because she doesn't agree.

She is at times funny, although her class is pretty boring. One thing you should keep in mind is that she is a very tough grader, this is why it is important that you follow her writing strategy exactly otherwise you'll end up with a D. I used to think I was alright at writing essays, she changed that. I don't recommend taking Professor Sigmon.
Do not take professor Sigmon. If you do take her and she gives you an unjust grade, go to the department chair and have it sorted.
Prof. Sigmon comes off as a nice person at first, but then her grading and requirements are ridiculous. Even if you follow her outline, depending on what you write, she will make you down a lot. If you're an english major, good luck getting through her class. she seems particularly hard on english students
Professor Sigmon is a very nice professor and will try her best to get to you if you have questions. Her lectures get boring at times but you can't really skip because she takes attendance. Participate to help your grade if you aren't the best writer. Grading is pretty fair.
Go to every class,see her outside class. Be patient. she gives tons of extra credit points to make your bad grades on essays turn into good ones. I made c's on papers but passed with an A. follow her writing strategies line by line; you'll do fine. she goes in depth while regiewing articles to give you all the answers. nice person,caring, y funny.
Sigmon really isn't as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Dont get me wrong though, you have to WORK for an A and that means going into her office hours every chance you get. She will give good feedback and fix your work for you but you have to take the time. Participation matters so just say something every class.
She very specific about her assignment but they are EASY JUST FOLLOW HER INSTRUCTION I got B even I did the mini just to pass dont try to show skills haha write everything directly. GOING TO HER OFFICE HOURS IS A MUST TO PASS! DONT BUY THE BOOK ALL READINGS ARE ONLINE(DONT BURN YOUR $50 HAHA)
She is very specific about her assignment but they are easy if you follow the writing strategy. Don't try to show off your skills. Just stick to the writing strategy. She is very helpful and understanding! She accepts late assignment (very late if u contact her). Very clear on assignments, As others said just stick to her writing strategy and follow it exactly. If u want an A it is easy to get it. GOING TO HER OFFICE HOURS ARE VERY VERY HELPUL. Go see her before you start writing she will tell u what to write.

Awful. She talks about participation points every five minutes then when you do raise your hand she either says no that's wrong or some other rude dismissal, as if it isn't hard enough to raise your hand. Essays need to be written EXACTLY her way. Lectures are boring and useless but mandatory.
Absolutely horrible.. Shoves her opinion on political matters down your throat. Also makes how she wants the essays so particular that they have no creativity. I would not recommend her class to anyone. She wouldn't give someone an A on a paper to save her life.
Sigmon is a good professor. Her rubrics are very clear on what she wants in your essay, so don't stray away from that. Don't be afraid to go to her office hours because it gets you participation points. She explains her concepts well and will literally walk you through writing the entire essay.
Attendance is mandatory but her class time is her rambling on about her opinion about climate change. Some times she is confused about her own readings and notes... so you will most likely be confused. Her writing strategies are so specific and strict that if you use any synonyms or try to be creative, it is an automatic C or lower. DONT DO IT!!!!!
She is a little buts but does care about her students. Her class is not an easy A. You have to follow her exact guidelines, her peer review sessions are more complicated than it should be. Go to class and participate or you won't pass. If you end up taking her, get to know her, show you care and put in effort and trust me you will be okay!
If you want a decent grade, you have to follow her criteria down to the dot. If anything is not to her liking she will drop points. She's a tough grader. If you ask for help or clarification on anything, she will contradict herself then get mad at you for not understanding. You will also write analytical essays about climate change from 15yr ago.
Thé grading was completely subjective/extremely specific. I have a learning disability, and was enduring several very stressful circumstances too. She was demanding/insinuating. I did not have a chance at success. The class was my #1 priority at the expense of my sleep, other courses & relationships. I got no credit & lost 1000 hours of my life.
Do not and I repeat! Do not take this professor! She is extremely rude in emails. When you ask her a question she contradicts herself and then gets mad at you for "not knowing the material" She is a very tough grader and if you do not do everything to her liking she will deduct points. She is not helpful whatsoever
Taking this class virtually was definitely not an easy task. When writing essays, you must follow her prompt perfectly or you will not pass. I'd recommend going to her office hours to proofread your rough draft and receive participation points.
This professor has a very clear political standpoint, aside from that the instructions for all essays is served on a silver platter. Simply follow guidelines given and you will get at least a B
This woman was so unreasonable. I wrote papers exactly to her writing criteria and she literally said that I wrote an A paper but she gave me a B. Do not take her class she sucks.
I fully understand that the RWS courses are far from interesting to teach. Still, Professors should not give their students specific "writing strategies" to guide their essays. Although this may sound easier, it is far from it and clearly hinders the student's ability to learn how to write on their own. You could barely label this a "class".
This professor is completely unaccommodating when it comes to just about anything. She has no sympathy for students mental health. And expects you to follow her extremely detailed essay outlines perfectly. Any deviations will result in a B or lower. Even if it's clearly an A paper. Do not expect any leniency from her. Avoid taking this class!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Extremely confusing prompts, although she gives you the writing strategy for the essays, they are still difficult to receive an A because you must follow the strategy EXACTLY. If not, you will be docked points. Very rude in emails, Canvas messages, and in person honestly. Do yourself a favor and find another RWS professor.
She takes attendance for a grade but then says absolutely nothing important during her lectures. If it wasn't graded I wouldn't come to class. 3 essays for the class that must follow a snarky and confusing writing strategy, and you MUST follow this perfectly or you will do poorly on the paper. Mean lady tbh.
She's the most tough grader ever. Even if you follow her writing strategy you still won't receive a good grade that you deserve. Its also impossible for her to give you full points for assignments which sucks. She talks a lot and she is really rude and cuts off students a lot. Don't recommend at all , pick any other rws teacher
Awful professor, considering she grades heavily based on the provided Writing Strategy. Has extensive and over-complicated writing prompts and expects every part of essays to be detailed how she wants it. Would not recommend as a RWS200 professor.
