Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful person and educator who cares and listens to what her students have to say. Dr. Jozsi offers a reality check in what businesses need to do to continue as a going concern. Manage indirect costs and examine bottlenecks.
I managed to get through it first time, where as others who had other professors in the past had to take it twice. Jozsi's tests are difficult, but grades on effort and knowledge, rather than exact answers.

Jozsi will kill your GPA. i'm a Jr and ive been into acc. since high sch. and never had a problem until i took her class. Her test are totally diff. then what u do in class(hw)and she is very unhelpful when u ask her a ?.She tries to make u feel dumb when u ask her a question.
Jozsi is a wonderful professor. Of course the exams are hard, this is college after all. Learn to study the concepts instead of the problems you do in class and you will find that she grades on the concepts you've learned not necessarily on how correct the answers are.
She knows what she is talking about, you will learn a lot, but you have to do the work to succeed in the class
Seems like whomever had a problem with this class just didn't feel like doing any of the work. I completed most of the homework, studied the concepts, and asked a lot of questions and I did fine. Most importantly she makes you to answer your own questions, which i think helps you remember better.
She is not very clear in preseantion of the materials and just tries to cram doing problems on the board. She does give some easy points on the tests, but overall I thought was very unclear.
She is great! Very helpful in class and out of class. The class was funny. She will challenge you, but also help you acheive your goals!
jozsi is a fairly hard proffesor, but it isnt frivolous work... you will come out at the end of the semester knowing more... just do the work
Jozsi is an extremely tough professor, do not get me wrong. But she has a passion for teaching and she wants everyone to get everything they could possibly need for the CPA exam. The key to success in any of Jozsi's classes is to do the homework and to throughly do the problems in the handouts and redo them again. She's tough, just do the work.
Very unhelpfull and unclear.
Obviously knowledgeable but probably better to have her for a CPA exam review class, rather than a class which counts towards your GPA. If you can decipher Egyptian hieroglyphics, you’ll be able to understand her homework answer sheets.
Her class is hard, but guess what accounting isn't easy. She is a very good teacher and I had success in her class by reading the text and completing the homework assignments as well as listening to the lectures and notes. She provides everything to succeed in her class.
There is not enough space on this site to fully explain the "nightmare" of this woman! She is completely unorganized and feels she should be in charge of FASB. Her notes are horrible, she is not focused in her lectures, and overall does not fit the accountant profile. Avoid her at all costs unless you want to take the CPA exam three times!
Jozsi is an extremely hard professor. she is very random while she teaches and her hw notes are very hard to follow. yes, accounting is hard but this was rediculous!
Jozi is great you just have to study. I learned a lot but you have to do your homework and study. She does all the homework problem for you so you can recheck your work which help me alot.
She is a great teacher. Her exams are quite difficult but she is good about giving partial credit. I took her for ACG 3113 also and would take her again. Some say she is not helpful but she is-she just has a sense of humor that some do not get.
Smart and fun, but not good at preparing students for tests (where it counts). Often off topic bragging about dinner dates in an attempt to keep attention of class. "Do we agree?" no.
Joszi is the worst teacher I have ever taken. She literally spends 50% of class time talking about the important people she knows, and telling personal stories in class. She is very random and all over the place, her lectures are very hard to follow. She is horrible at understanding students questions. She repeats herself over and over! Avoid!!!!!
She makes things appear harder than they really are, which is not good for accounting. She does give partial credit on tests liberally though.
Did not feel she really encouraged asking questions in class. When you did ask, felt she made you feel you should have already known answer. But did review all homework in class & overall learned the material. Just be sure to attend class & do homework.
Prof Jozsi was an extremely hard teacher! She gave you answers instead of teaching the course and assisting the learning. She assumed you knew things about accouting you thought you were there to learn. Difficult! She did assist out of class and was fair in partial credit on tests.
The thing with Jozsi's cost class is she gives you homework problems to review, but then when you get the tests, most of the problems are changed around and its nothing like you practiced in the hw. She does give partial credit. However, if the problems were like what you practiced in the hw then you would be able to earn full credit.
Extremely tough class. You have to put in alot of time and effort. However, this professor goes out of her way to help students succeed. If you can keep up and practice her homework you should be able to succeed in any accounting course at this school. She is extremely knowledgeable and overall one of the best professors that I have ever had.
Boring. Extremely hard exams. TA couldn't help anymore than the professor. Only gives answers to homework assigned and only in break out sessions. Had to drop because got a 56 on the first test out of pure luck. 50 T/F Qs and 12 M/C.. sooooo HARD!!!
Thank God for the TA's and the textbook, because if you plan on learning from her lectures don't bother. I mean, why do they pay an Accounting professor to read PP slides? The homework from the textbook and notes from the lectures DO NOT mirror the test questions AT ALL. I don't understand why her tests are so different than the work she gives us.
Jozsi is a graduate level professor and has no mercy for her undergraduate students. I have never worked so hard for a class in my life and I still had to w/d. The tests are absolutley ridiculous and worth everything. You have to do the ungodly amount of homework to even think about passing. Take her in a semester where you are not full time.
There is a great difference between teaching the material and knowing it- having it mastered...Jozsi knows her stuff but she's just not on our level.
STAY AWAY. her and her ta's are all horrible. they don't know how to teach and joszi doesn't know how to lecture. she paces back and forth and reads her powerpoint to you. we're not morons..we can read. you have to actually TEACH the class! its not that complicated. horrible class. i have to take it at HCC now. stayyy away!!!!!! TRUST ME.
Very vague teaching method for someone who tests on conceptual details.Nice person, HORRIBLE TEACHER! If you want to pass your first time around look for other options.
horrible teacher... she is all over the place, I had to drop her class because I was failing..
Okay... she relies heavily upon her TA's
Good God!!! Hardest teacher I have ever had. Actually tries to trick you on exam questions. Over a third of the 800 kids who started the class dropped before the drop date. Something you may want to think about before you take an "intro" accounting course.
I have a 4.0 gpa, this teacher would have killed it for me. I had to withdraw due to her NOT TEACHING. She just reads the slides, then it's up to the TA's to go over the hmwk. and when u get the tests, it's NOTHING LIKE U PRACTICED. She does not care about her students. Take anyone else! Take it at HCC if you can you are way better off. Mad woman!!
DO NOT TAKE JOZSI!!! She "tries" to teach accounting off of powerpoint slides. Which still blows mt mind. My TA was useless and ended up taking the class at HCC.
Okay,in correction to what another person said: There was never 800 people in the class. There was initially only about 450 people. After the drop date, it was down to 208. As for her teaching, she DOES rely HEAVILY on T.A.'s. Luckily, I got a good one. And her tests ARE hard, and that's why you have to put in a lot of effort when you study.
jozsi isn't the best teacher, but she isn't horrible. I had a decent TA so I'm passing, but be prepared to do a lot fo homework. tedious.. but it helps. The only negative thing i have to say is that her exams are ridiculous.. an exam should not be mostly true and false!!! just keep up with the work and YOULL BE FINE!!
She really knows a lot about the subject but her exams are impossible...you need to study your ass off to get a passing grade. She's really a good teacher but she teaches the class as if it was an advanced course so be prepared for that. Good luck!!!
Take her if you are an accounting major. She will help to prepare you for the classes that follow. If you aren't an accounting major try for another teacher or take at SPC of HCC.
I would not recommend taking Jozsi. Her teaching methods are lazy (i.e. PP slides)and she relies on her TAs 90% of the time to teach. Like others have said, her tests are VERY, VERY HARD and do not resemble the class/home work very well.
Trust me do NOT take this woman. I repeat, DO NOT take this woman! She literally told me "she doesn't care whether her students pass or fail". you won't learn anything from her. Her tests are literall 50% T or F. Unless you are a genius and can teach yourself everything, you might have a slight chance of passing her class.Take it at HCC or at Night
THIS CLASS IS EXTREMELY HARD. IT IS DEFINITELY A CHALLENGE. I FAILED AND ACCOUNTING IS MY MAJOR. ITS NOT THAT SHE SUCKS, SHE JUST EXPECTS THE BEST. BRING YOUR A GAME AND YOU BETTER DEVOTE TIME. READ EVERY CHAPTER AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND, IF YOU DONT YOU BETTER ASK YOUR TA FOR HELP.IF YOU DO THAT, YOU WILL PASS FOR SURE!!!! DONT SLACK THOUGH
The professor do not care about her students. He just reads the PP slides, laugh to herself and node to herself but students won't understand a thing. I managed to get A, but I still wouldn't recommend this teacher. TA's too slack during the weekends and her tests are very hard even though you study hard for the entire semester.
Read the chapters before coming to class, study hand-outs and do the homework. If you don't, drop. This class requires effort but is understandable if you prepare. Jozsi is a great lecturer and her TAs are always there to help if you need it.(The 2nd exam is the hardest!)
This is not an easy class. It definitely requires a good amount of time. I think the professor does a good job and explaining concepts. She has some of the best TAs I've had. They are always available for help, and if you put effort into the class, you can pass. She also gives a lot of extra point (tests are 115 pts out of 100). But not really eas
Needed the TA to pass. Roth was my TA and was wonderful, whereas Joszi was worthless. Impossible to follow in lectures and tests were nothing like homework from the book. But the book WAS excellent to learn from. Financial Accounting by Libby and Libby.
Dropped this class TWICE, third time passed with a C.I HATE ACCT,only class I've ever dropped also and I'm a junior.GO TO EVERYCLASS,and memorize immediately the A=L+E and everything about it.You will be miserable, but if you get a great TA, they ARE IMPORTANT to your success so be nice to them.Jozsi does offer alot of E/C which helps ALOT!
Worst teacher so far in 3 years of studying in USF. Do not care about her students at all. Her TA's slack off in weekends but they are helpful during class times and can help you understand material but they are not the professor for the class. Study really hard to pass this class. Tests are hard, true/false are very confusing. Not recommended
STAY AWAY!!!! Her and her TA's are horrible. Take it at HCC unless you absolutely need this for your major. She doesn't know how to teach. Her TA's are useless, its a lose-lose situation.
OK! So here's the deal: Professor is RIDICULOUSLY hard!!!!!!! She DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TEACH an undergrad course. She just reads those unhelpful PP slides which DON'T HELP and students usually fail EVERY TEST!!! I was lucky and got Saltsman as a TA. No way I would have managed to pass with a B without her. Ask questions in your sessions or else: FAIL
the class isi so huge its hard to get any one on one time. has a huge 75 page assignment (literally). its best if you have some background in the subject because she doens't help much. she requires clickers for the lecture and breakout sessions for attendance and random quizzes.
Oka most of the people who hate this teacher DON'T attend monday lectures, which IS the class. Out of 500 students, about 100 ever show up, no wonder noone knows what they are doing. She is so enthusiastic about her stuff, and she DOES help if you ask! TAs are so helpful, but the class really isn't rocket science if you actually attend!!! TRY IT!!!
I agree with 04/03. Go to class, go to the break-out sessions, do the homework, read the chapters, study, study, study. Make the effort, and don't let yourself get intimidated by the rest of these comments. You can make it out of this class fine, if you work hard. However, her final was a nightmare. Beware.

Hardest accounting teacher. Should be teaching upper level courses. Do the ALL homework and make friends with the TA's and you might pass. It is possible to do well but you'll probably have to work harder than you have in any course you've ever taken.
Ok, this class was more about the instructor and less about Accounting. Jozsi made the class more difficult than the actual material. However, try to keep up and maybe you'll get a C-.
avoid this lady at all costs! do NOT take her, brace yourselves if you do. her TA's will even tell u she's difficult. class isn't about acct, more about herself. evil woman
Requires only 3 hours a week outside of class but you need to actually work hard. You cant miss class or you fall behind. She gave 25 pts EC this semester and I think she's slowly changing the way she teaches. For me, this class was a breeze and I needed a 53 on the final to get an A. So its doable She teachers tons of ACG classes so get used to it
HELL is a good word to describe this class. There aren't really any other better options then her. Textbook is bad, lots of hw problems from it. PRAY for a good TA. GO to THE THE OFFICE HOURS. I passed barely with a C. She is nice with extra credit, but you HAVE TO EARN IT.
I have never ever ever worked as hard as I did in this class. I spent days, nights and every moment of free time on this class. I got an A but only after torture, agony, pain and a good TA. I will say this though, after taking her any accounting class you take is going to be MUCH easier..
Don't make a mistake to take her. Rather take Davis. You won't understand a thing. Exams are really hard even though you do all your work at home and you get right answers. Just pray for a good TA who will teach you and go over HW probs. Good Luck with the class caz you really truly need it.
Worst teacher I've ever had. The ONLY way to pass her class is to employ someone else to teach it to you. I dropped it. Two words: SAINT PETERSBURG. Go there and take Linkovich, he's the man.
There was 433 students, 78Passed. Horrible person, mean and upsetting. I bet she has no friends what so ever. She should not be getting paid to confuse us. *There IS a differance between a "HARD Prof" and "Confusing." I tried to setup multiple appts. with her and she was never there and did not contact me. Please USF fire her.
All you really have to do to pass the class is read the chapters and make sure to go over the homework problems during the TA session. Those two things are key! I made a B by just doing that. And make sure to study at least 3 days in advance for a test. Pretty hard tests..lots of info. But she gives lots of extra credit quizzes. :)
I gave up on this class. I thought I was gonna do good until I seen my grade on the first exam. So I did a little bit more studying for the 2nd exam and got a lower grade than the one before when I didnt study. There is alot of info to cram in your head and leave it there and cant forget like other classes. A good TA will definitely help.
Jozsi was such a breath of fresh air. Unlike Gaynor, Joszi does not get off on her students failure rather she shows sincere concern and I believe sees her pupils failure as her own. For an upbeat, informative, spontaneous [no reading powerpoint slides word for word here]and even FUN lecture go with Jozsi! With loads of hard work I managed a B+!
I am an alumni of this University, I graduated in 1998. I recieved my CPA a few years ago. I decided to visit a random accounting class to see how it has changed in the past decade. It happend to be Jozsi's, class. I really dont understand her method of teaching,it seems like she doesnt realize that the people attending her class are begginers.
I now understand why this is the #1 dropped class by students at usf. This prof was horrrible. I learned more from the TA than at mass lecture. In my class I would say 30-40% of the students are still there. I find it funny that bad teachers make the school the most money.
If you dont want to work, dont take her. If you are willing to put in effort, you will be fine. The people that rate her low are the people that dont like to work. She is a great professor despite her high drop rate. She has high expectations and people cant meet them. Also, get a good TA and study for 20+hrs for each exam.
I have never received a B in my life, I have always been an A student, through college and high school. I got a B in this class. Joszi teaches like the students already know the subject. I only took her course because I did not want a night class. Lots of work, exams are REALLY hard. STUDY AND PRAY, and maybe you can pass.
This summer I took Intermediate I with Gaynor and managed to pull off an A. Then this fall I took Intermediate II with Jozsi and had to drop.I spent three hours a day studying but I still managed to bomb her tests, because the material was nothing like the textbooks. She is a disgrace to the accounting department.
Her exams were completley different from what she taught and I was one point away from passing and she would not work with me to have an extra point even though it was her fault because she "lost" one of the assingments due
There is nothing more humiliating and degrading then spending hours reading out of a text book she doesn't even teach from, mastering HW concepts she doesn't test you on, and making 3 exams that no one can really finish. Don't bother with the other professors I've tried, they all use her exams. Save yourself the trouble take it elsewhere like HCC.
She makes it clear what she expects. If you are willing to put in the work and attend class regularly then there is no reason you can't get an A. She will prepare you for future accounting classes. If you want a great professor take her. If you want an easy A don't.
If you like to skip/ sleep through class you can forget passing. I received an A in Jozsi course; however, It took a conscious effort to attend class and do all the work. She offers a ton of extra credit and most tests are best 100 out of 115 points. Take this class and work hard!
Prof. Jozsi radiates energy and life. She is very much in the world of accounting. You will definitely benefit from her class if you are smart, not lazy, willing to put a work and willing to go to her office and ask for help if you don't understand something. She is always there! Taking her you will be better prepared for other acc. courses!
First of all I'd like to meet these people that say the only people that fail jozi's class are LAZY.. b.c I'm far from that. Secondly this lady is useless..take it some where else.. or if you can take MARlEY in the summer do..he was my TA taught me more then she could ever teach anyone. Needed the 3 points to get the graded I wanted didnt get them.
Prof. Jozsi is tough, but her Intermediate II class is very passable. It IS possible to get an A, however, a good 30 or 40 hours should go into studying for each exam. First exam is the easiest, last exam (the final) is the hardest. Most of your grade is based on the three exams (300 pts out of a total of 320 pts), so you better do well on all 3
Jozsi's intermediate 2 class is HARD and very time intensive. I studied a lot and got a B, which I'm extremely thankful for! Your best bet would be to do all the homework and come to every class. The bulk of your grade comes from the 3 exams. Do well on the first exam!
This professor is tough, but worthwhile. Accounting recruiters ASK if you've been taught by her.
Basically, a transient-student form should be passed out with the syllabus because you will end up taking this class at HCC.
Jozsi is very passionate about accounting and it is seen through her lectures. Her tests are pretty hard. I took her for Int I and she told our class that she gave us previous questions from the CPA as our exam. To pass is not impossible, all you need to do is read her notes and do the homework 3-4 times and come to class. Good luck!
She is very nice and enthusiastic but I'm not a fan of her teaching style. Her tests are nothing like the lectures or the book. Her notes are difficult to understand and her homework sheets are far from organized. I wouldn't take her again but I do know she is very connected and involved in the Tampa accounting scene.
Class was hard but I learned a lot from it. She was very meticulous about covering the topics on the exams. She builds a curve into all her exams and gives partial credit.
Professor Jozsi is an awesome teacher. I had her for Intermediate I & II and I really enjoyed her insights on real world things. She mentions in class that she goes to lunch with professionals so "you people can get jobs"...and it's true because she helped me get my job offer. Study hard and do the homework and you'll be fine.
I've had Jozsi for 3 classes, prin, IntermedI,II. I received A's in all. While her classes are not easy, they are passable. There is a learning curve the 1st time in her class, but if you work the hwk probs 3-4 times, study her notes, and do some extra probs, which are some of the ones she puts on the tests you will be ok. The T/F are a 50-50.
I took Jozsi for Int I & II. She goes out of her way to help her students out. She gives you a pro copy packet that really helps and clears things up. She goes over all the HW in clas to reinforce the reading. Very helpful professor and always willing to help you out if you go to the office hours. She is very knowlegable as well.
Amazing person, has a true passion for accounting and her students' success, jumps around a lot in lectures, hard to follow, exams beyond difficult no matte how much you study, very lenient on grading and partial credit, appreciates and recognizes your effort, LOVE JOZSI!!! INT II
Love this professor! She cares very much about her students and is very helpful. You have to study alot for her tests which are not easy. A lot a critical thinking application type questions that you need to be good at if you want to be an awesome accountant. I received an A in her class and I really had to work for it. But I learned a lot.
Worst teacher ever. Just go to the USF website and look at her curriculum vitae. Although she has been teaching for 100 years at a state school, the only degree and license she has is a CPA and bachelors. She doesn't even have work experience at a big 4 accounting firm. Take an important class like this with a real professor, with a grad degree.
Extremely hard class and a hard teacher but she gives amazing partial credit. You have to put in a ton of hours of homework and I would recommend taping her and listening to it multiple times. This is my third time taking her and I made an A in her other classes but a B in this one. I would take her again!
I actually like her. I heard that she was a nightmare and i was reluctant to take her. But of course it was her or Gaynor for summer so I decided to go with her. I think she is a good teacher and cares about her students. She gives partial credit on her tests so thats a big plus. I would recommend her.
She is always willing to help and she does actually care. Accounting is not an easy class, you have to actually open the book at home, sorry. She gives partial credit, tests are 100 out of 110 and there is no +/-. The HW answers are all given to you, strictly an effort grade. She does everything she can to help you pass, just do your part too.
She might tone herself down for Principles classes. For Intermediate 2, however, she is all over the place. Her class is more about following her insane teaching style than learning accounting. I am doing well because I am teaching myself the material.
I adored Professor Joszi! I received a C in her Int. II class last summer but I feel had I paid closer attention I could have easily received an A. My grandmother died and she was VERY understanding AND supportive. Yes she does give a lot of info BUT is always receptive of students who have questions after class. I enjoyed her real life examples.
She is very scatter brained. Difficult to follow at first because she has an unusual teaching style but after you figure her out she is easy to follow. Tests are hard. I think unless you are naturally smart you will struggle. Tries to throw the most difficult problems on the test. She is very fair. Takes time to learn students names which is a rarit
she's the best financial accounting teacher at USF her summer C class was great. She's sort of awkward to talk to, but if you go to her office hours she's super sweet and willing to help
Jozsi's class is very challenging and requires a lot of work and studying to get an A or even a B for that matter. However, she was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Her class is very fast-paced but lectures are very helpful. I would recommend her if you like the subject and want to learn a lot, and have the time to devote to her class.
I took Joszi for Intermediate 2, she's known to either make or break you. Everyone thinks she weeds out the students that aren't meant for accounting, which she does! Joszi is tough, but she's such a sweet lady who is caring and kind. But at the same time I can't follow any of her teaching methods...
Knowledgeable instructor, passionate about accounting. Can be difficult to follow, but you will get used to her style. Goes out of her way to explain problems & is a very fair grader. Highly recommend, especially if you are planning to continue to CPA program.
She is very fair in grading, but her tests are long and very draining. The material on the tests seems a bit obscure though- taking homework problems even further- can be confusing. lectures are extremely boring, very dry, but you absolutely need to go to pass. If you take the class get an audio recorder and focus on the homework!
This class is a lot of work outside of class. You need to put in the time and effort and you are able to get a good grade. She is very helpful after hours. Exams are very hard and long, but she gives plenty of partial credit. No text book, we used a handout she created. One of my favorite classes. she is very very nice too.
I took Professor Jozsi for Intermediate II. If you really want to learn, she's an amazing professor that tries to incorporate all aspects of accounting into each lecture. Tests are very hard, but she gives partial credit on almost anything. Go to her office hours and record her lectures early on an you will do well.
