Had him for both Intermediate and College Alegebra and was very happy with the teaching style. Does not assign any homework and your grade is just based on tests. Love the different colored markers to help explain the questions. Recomend him to students not wanting to do a lot of homework in math.
Knows his stuff. Did algebraic work like pie. Funny and sarcastic personality, I only had him for calc 1 so not sure on the lower levels. Good teacher for visual learners, uses color scheme when working on board. Enjoy learning...

Very good teacher for visual learners. Wont move on until you understnad the current lesson. Love the color coding!!!
VERY HARD TEACHER EXPECTS U TO KNOW EVERYTHIN ONLY GRADES TEST DOESNT CHECK HOMEWORK SO IF UR BAD ON TAKIN TESTS UR SCRUD. DONT TAKE HIM HES HORRIBLE
Very nice and understanding,but.....can be hard to understand. Not very good at explaining material. You are given 4 tests and a final,no homework is counted. So if you have a hard time w/math,expect alot of math lab time...
Definitely quirky, but an awesome teacher. His method of color coding is very effective. TIP: bring markers or colored pencils to take your notes in color. It really works in going back and studying for the tests. If you are absolutely horrible at math, he may not be good for you.
He is a horrible teacher not willing to help. HE always says it's not my job to teach you that you should know it. He loses you in the problem never goes over homework so if you are lost you have to see him after class he will not take class time to go over something he already has.You better catch
THE WORST INSTRUCTOR I've ever had. I had the highest score on first test and it was an 83. His tests contain material not covered in class or in the book. Be warned!!!
he was asked in class to break it down for us more and he said"no" you are definlety expected to retain it all from the prev course, he knows his stuff, but maybe too well to teach it, don't take his class unless you are already good with math - if you are you should be fine, but otherwise avoid him
Worst teacher in entire campus, his tests are horrible, this guy will ask you to proof every single problem he asked.if you'd like to die faster, take his class.
He is a nice guy, but he can be hard at time. His test are extremely hard, so if you are having trouble in math expect to go get help in the math lab.
"Florida's Worst Professor", is this description clear enough ?
Complete jerk! Get another proffesor!
Not as tough as others say, to me at least. If you are self directed and can learn on your own, you'll do fine-- lectures were kind of a waste. Willing to give extra credit and take homes, but I'll admit the class was prob a bit too advanced for a *community college* class
kinda weird voice is very annoying

He is sometimes little too fast, but if you stop him, he will go back. Tests are quite a challenge but his grading is very good. Gives you partial credit for anything. Loves his subject. Also has out of class meetengs if you need extra help. Good professor. Makes you you excell in calculus.
If you are looking for an easy "F" take this class. He seems so encouraging, until the tests. They are impossible, rediculusly difficult. I've already taken Calc. 2 once before and I did better the first time, that says some thing. Anyway, you should avoid this class at all costs.
Worst Math Teacher Ever! I went to his office hours trying to get help on a homework problem.Instead of him showing me how to do it he spends 30 minutes telling me why I should already know this and that if I don't I shouldn't be in the class.Next day in class he asks everyone if they know how to do it. The whole class was dead silent, no one knew.
He expects you to know everything. He acts as if everyonr is a math major. Heaven forbid if you ask a question in class or out that he thinks you should know. He will demean you in front of anyone. If you are lucky he will mention the fact in another class that your friend attends. At this point he should end his career as a teacher for I fear he h
Amusing guy at times, but seems to think everyone is just being refreshed on the subject, despite most of us have no idea what's going on. He does, however, have a great way of testing.
Do not take this class if you are expecting any clarification of the subject. ...Not a bad guy overall, just a math nerd type that doesn't seem to understand the plight of anyone who isn't quite as passionate about his subject. Don't dare ask a question in his class-he will only put you on the spot until you abashedly pretend to understand.
I can't believe what I've read already posted here. I've never been good in any kind of Math...he made it clear. I asked for help, by e-mail, and in person, and he bent over backwards to do just that. If you are actually trying, (ie: showing up & asking questions),he'll do whatever it takes to get you through.
I made an A in this class. I ask questions if I don't know something. I wouldn't say it was easy, but I noticed the several students were quiet and did not ask or get involved. That is their own fault. He is there to teach, we are there to learn, so ask questions & get involved.
a good teacher who will not demand a lot on you but expect a lot out of you when it comes to the test! so just focus and prepare for the tests and you'll do good!
I don't think that he was a very good teacher I used to like math but after being in his class I hate it!
Not nearly as bad as some of these coments make him out to be. Not much homework and if you do his study guides the tests are a breeze. I wouldn't recomend this class to someone who has a bad understanding of the basics or needs the teacher to hold thier hand throughout the semester.
The color coding was great... BUT GOD FORBID YOU ASK HIM A QUESTION! His general response to your questions is, "I thought I made that clear". The old saying "There are no stupid questions" does not apply in his classes. Once you are singled out, your only hope is to switch to another professor before the withdraw date. What a JERK!
I took calc 3 here at MCC to avoid Dr. Kiguradze aka "special K" who sucks at teaching at Florida Tech. However this professor is only a little better then him and can't teach that well. Pos: you can use a calculator, your given equation sheet, and you can decided on how many questions for test. Cons: Doesn't like it when people ask him questions.
Have a firm grasp on prior math as he does not tolerate stupid questions. In Trig you ask an algerbra question he will belittle you, ask a trig question and he wil go over it again no problem. WARNING!! Gave study guide to be turned infor a grade: 163 full length problems 3 days to complete.
he is the worst teacher ever to step in a class room , cant teach, has no time management, wont awnser any questions you ask him, gives diffucult tests, and has mood swings. DO NOT TAKE THIS RETARD.
He knows his math and is very intelligent about the subject he teaches. Come ready to learn and it's okay - he will not hold your hand or slow down - he shouldn't have too. He's witty and definitaly respects his students. You pick the number of questions on the test and he'll answer any questions you have at the beginning of class.
Only take this man if you are willing and able to teach yourself. He will not explain things clearly and if you ask questions, he makes you feel like a fool. Hated him and it is my mission to warn others.
THIS TEACHER IS HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM! i READ RATE MY PROFESSOR BEFORE i SIGNED UP FOR HIS CLASS. I DIDN'T BELIVE THEM SO I WENT AHEAD AND TOOK HIM. HE REALLY IS HORRIBLE!
Take Notes and do the Study Guides. The Guides are helpful for the tests.
Had to withdrawl from this class without refund. He is an absolute idiot, devoid of any social skills. Do not take this professor, he will belittle you infront of your peers and he wont help you. I wish i could have withdrawn with a refund but he told me he would help me and didnt. i repeat, dont take him.
If you are willing to teach yourself this is the class for you; he is extremely UNHELPFUL & makes you feel horrible for asking questions; expects you to remember things from 7th grade math & makes you feel stupid for forgetting them. Study guides have questions directly from tests so do them. Lectures are a waste of time but mandatory. ended up w/A
Difficult teacher, but a very good one. I am not a math person, but had to take applied calc. for my major. He did a lot to help me. I made a B in the class. He gets upset if you don't pay attention or don't show up for class. So be responsible! He's actually quite entertaining and lets class choose length of tests!
Im not a very strong math person, but I tell you what. This teacher is not helpful at all. He says that hes not there to help you, if you need help use the math lab. He also on the first day stated, 70% of you will fail. What kind of motivation is that for a class? Useless, and doesn't even require homework, just does 3-4 tests. Stay Away!
This is one of my favorite professors I have had at MCC. I totally recommend him to anyone who is interested in math. He was always willing to help me out. His lectures where clear and were representative of the material on the tests. I had him for both Differential Equations and Linear Algebra. He is an exceedingly nice guy and knows his math.
for some odd reason, i really liked this teacher, he was down to earth and since the class was so small at the end of the semester he calmed down a lot and was very laid back. I would recommend him, but only to hard working students because he does not, i repeat, does not like slackers, SO BE READY!!!
I took this class during the spring semester and I would have to say that I learned a lot from him, even though I really didn't need to take the class to graduate. I learned more about trigonometry because of him...If you are a math major or enjoy math like I do, then I would take him.
A fair instructor, although very focused in his work. He lives in a world of calculations as that's his job. Overall he was fair, but disciplined. I would take him for another class and I would recommend him, but be prepared to work!
he is the worst teacher ever. he is very mean and if you dont get it you are on your own. he will not help you and gets very short with you if you ask questions to clarify. DO NO TAKE HIM. you will be much better off with someone else!!!!
If you are a slower learner and need things broken down for you, this is not the teacher for you.He will not explain things to you and if you continue to ask questions will get short and rude with you.I had to count on mymathlab to teach me.Use it.It helps. This is a self teaching class.DO NOT TAKE HIM!!YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
i don't recommend him. he makes you look stupid in front of the class if you ask a question. hes rude.
I don't recommend him for anybody. I am a very hard worker, some would call me an over achiever, and I am exceptionally good at math, but like anybody else I do have questions. He makes you feel stupid when you ask questions and looks at you like he doesn't understand why you don't get something. Not very helpful- I'm learning everything on my own.
RUDE RUDE RUDE. I dropped his class because I was sick of him making me feel stupid. If you dont understand something dont ask him he will not help.I cant understand why he still teaches, its as if you are putting him out by not understanding. WHY TEACH!!! I dont recommend him as a professor at all.
very clear, strict but fair.
Awesome Math Professor! A quirky and interesting guy. He is more laid back once all of the slackers drop the class. He seems to prefer to teach students who enjoy math as much as he does. If that is you, then take his class. You will learn a ton.
I was in his combo calc/trig class, and he has to be one of the worst teachers I've ever had. I love math with a passion, it's my major actually, but he is so intelligent at the subject, that when ever you have a question, he looks at you like you're an idiot. I don't recommend him at all.
He is worthless do not take him. I took his online course he is not helpful at all. If you email him he will give you a super short answer and make you feel retarded. DON'T TAKE HIM!!!!!!!
good professor, but doesn't put up with much.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Reads directly out of the book, not helpful, and extremely rude. What ever you do, do not take this teacher.
I don't know why but he's really nice to me. I am in the online class and I missed two tests in a row due to circumstances and he let me make up them both. If you have questions, go to his office when you have time. He seems like a nice guy to me, but I am taking the online class so I don't see him all the time.
Kind of full of himself but here's my advise: if you don't have a semi-strong background in math, and you're only taking the class for the credt, don't take him. However, if you want to learn a lot in math, and you already know some stuff...take him.
He is TOUGH! He has a brilliant mind but it's hard to follow. I'm usually a very good note taker but following his lectures were differcult, he was everywhere. The class was pretty hard too. I had to do a lot of studying and really teach myself the material when I started cracking down I began to do really good on the tests. This classtakes hard wk
Yikes... I had a rough time in Ozgener's class. (but then again I'm not a math student) Just make sure to go into the class with a do-it-yourself attitude. I felt like his teaching style was very rushed, and on top of that, he never responded to my e-mails. That's your only job, friend!
Mr. Ozgener is a cool teacher, he has some humor. Sometime he can be rude when it comes to cell phones and comin in late. His lecture is very fast, butif u know algebra pretty good u don't even have to take notes or listen to him, you can just dose off. His tests are only 25 questions. You don't have to buy a text book for his algebra class.
Foreign with strong accent making it difficult to understand lectures. He is very strict and not helpful. I withdrew from the class.
He is a very good math teacher. I received an A+ in his class by the simple method of going to class, and doing the assigned homework before the tests. He makes it very clear whats on the tests, and also works through review questions. He has a unique sense of humor, and maybe that's what people have problems with. If your a slacker look elsewhere.
Terrible, the test are nothing like the homework, you can do all the problems in the book and still not understand the questions on the test. You better hope you are good at math and teaching yourself.
I cant believe he still has a job no one knows what the answers are to his questions
Accused me of cheating because I got a question right on the final exam that no one else coulget right. Accused me of cheating, and I failed. I was a B student going into the exam. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Wost professor I have ever had, period.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. He is the worst. A student asked how to differential e^x and he strait killed the kid. If he could resurrect Hilbert he would fail him. You might as well hurl yourself off a bridge if you take this guy.
Awful. He doesn't explain the material well. Your grade is made up of 4 exams. He collects homework on exam days. I wouldn't recommend him. Take Pirnot.
Worst teacher EVER!!! I am serious do not take this professor. God forbid you ask him a question. He takes pleasure in seeing students fail. Save your money and DO NOT take him.
He is soooo hard to follow in class and take notes. If you ask a question and he think that it is obvious he makes fun of you! not very nice and very sarcastic!
Worst professor I've ever had, the absolute least helpful. He gave us no review for the final, instead he lectured us on some math that didn't pertain to your course, gave us a take home test, canceled the class before the final, but still force the class to show up between a 15min window to turn in the test. Mr. Ozgener enjoys making his class unnessairly hard and being unhelpful as possible.
OMG!!!! i am studying to be a teacher and he is the worst. he has no teaching skills. he even told me to not be a teacher. i love math but hate this guy. i would rather spend a week in hell than take his class.
DO NOT TAKE!! Absolutely, the worst professor I have had in my academic career. Very unwilling to help and seems to intend to confuse students. God forbid you interrupt him with a question on a problem when he's on Facebook during his "office hours".
He is very excellent teacher. I had A+ in his class. recommend take it in the summer, no online homework. Do your regular homework and you will be ready for test, final was a multiple choice. Easy, but had to practice.
Definitely taking him again. I can see why some people don't like the way he teaches, but I always felt comfortable in his class. He is sarcastic, but I find his classes rather entertaining. What does that say about me, lol? Good if you like a challenge, he will not put up with slackers and is tough on cell phone use.
He is Turkish and has an accent, but I never had a problem understanding him. He has a peculiar sense of humor and is somewhat helpful, especially one-on-one. Super strict about attendance and cell phones. Homework is optional and final is multiple choice. Not for slackers! I'm smart, but not great in math and I got a B.
too strict, makes people feel dumb, explains stuff that confuse you more instead of just going to the point.
not an easy teacher, if you are not strong in math don't' take it, really sarcastic and strict, hard to understand.
He's condescending and won't admit when he's wrong. One of his Solutions on a test was wrong according to the Math book, but he just said the book was wrong when I showed it to him and walked out. He called me stupid at a later date as well.
Once you are use too his accent he is an excellent teacher. Other don't like him for his strictness, especially on cell phones.
Professor Ozgener is always entertaining. This was my second semester with him. I feel he explained the material quite well, and I went into the final feeling sufficiently prepared. In any case, it was always entertaining to watch him chastise students for cell phones, lateness, etc.
Took him once before, really didn't care for his teaching style nor attitude, but this time around he seemed to understand his demeanor. Extremely smart man, really knows his material, is open to suggestions. Very hard, not for those who can't do extra work.
Difficult but very fair professor. He demands respect but is extremely helpful if you need it. Don't expect him to teach you algebra again if your in Calculus but he does explain stuff well. He is hard and his tests are hard. Don't take your cell to class, don't be late, don't do anything disrespectful. DO take him if you want to learn.
Phenomenal teacher. He is strict on things involving respect but is a brilliant man. He is always willing to help someone understand the material and makes his lessons as clear and easy as possible. His tests are difficult, but they really show you how much you do know and how much you just memorized from the book. Want to learn? Take this teacher.
If you want to succeed in maths take this Prof, I wish I had taken him in all my previous classes. If you are going to move onto a university and study anything related to math- you are better off taking your classes with this guy.
I read the negative comments on this site and I am happy I didn't listen to them. Prof. Ozenger is an incredible teacher! Yes, he is very strict about cell phone use and tardiness, but, you know what? you shouldn't be doing that in class anyhow! He is an awesome and brilliant teacher! Take him! ANNNDD.. he is quite a funny guy!
Ozgener is an awesome guy who really knows his mathematics. He respects you if you respect him. Do not expect to be babied in his class, as he will challenge your critical thinking. He is really helpful if you study and pay attention in class. If you are a slacker, he will absolutely slaughter you. Turn your cell phone off, be on time, study hard.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER if you are struggling in math or you are not going to take this class seriously! He is very stubborn and straight to HIS point. Its hard to even ask questions so don't bother. He doesn't follow the text but he deff knows his material. No reviews and is strict on tardiness/phones
This teacher forces you to do 50-60 question study guides for each test that he gives you two weeks prior. He teaches using a computer program and doing countless examples of random, insignificant problems. No theory or general direction for problem solving is taught, and he is obsessed with repetitive problem solving. Don't take this class.
Professor Ozgener is an exceptional teacher. His lectures tend to go into tangents with problems you will never see again but he always delivers the material. Ozgener will challenge what you know and what you think you know about mathematics. My only advise is to study in depth, do research, and you will learn to like it.
He doesn't explain well. Strong accent. RUDE. Grade based only on 4 test and test reviews and final. Took a test got 53min for 25 questions... not enough time! I have been getting tutored he doesn't explain uses a weird color system. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU STRUGGLE IN MATH.
THIS GUY IS SUCH A BAD TEACHER, I NEVER LIKEDHIM. I WOULD DO HIS WORK IN CLASS WHILE HE IS DOING EXAMPLES ON THE BOARD & I ALREADY KNEW THE MATERIAL BUT HE STILL WANTS YOU TO PAY ATTENTION. RANDOMLY PICKS OUT PEOPLE, I DONT LIKE THAT,ESPECIALLY ON ME. WORST TEACHER EVER.
He is so nice! He goes over examples too many times though, after a while you get tired of him going over the same thing repeatedly. If you struggle with math, his class is definitely worth your time. Go to the math lab in person and hopefully you will get Professor Hotton when you do. He has an accent but it doesn't get in the way of understanding
He doesnt stay on topic. Uses a weird color system with his markers. Horrible at explaining things.
Really funny if you get his joke. Great teacher as long as you show up for his class. Oh yea, just keep your cell off for this class. But if you do all this and work hard he will help you out.
Expert mathematician, but I do not think he should be teaching. His people skills, vocalization, teaching abilities, are !VERY! bad. Our class went from 30 students to 8. Lots of homework, ridiculously hard but short tests. Do not take his class unless you know your material beforehand. Then again, why take a class if you already know the material?
Easily the worst professor I've ever taken. What's better is he's the only available professor for Calc 3 and DEQ. Highly recommend taking any course he offers at another campus (or another school altogether). Avoid him unless you like to be called "stupid" for asking questions in class. Does he know his stuff? Yes. Can he teach it? Not at ALL!
This instructor is extremely smart, on the other hand he's very ineffective at conveying course material. Class lecture is not well structured, making it hard to take notes at times. He has a lock on all the classes past MAC2312, there are no other professors at SCF to teach these courses. Probably best to take these courses at the university lev
One word..HORRIBLE. Such a terrible teacher. He thinks he can just run the classroom with his own set of rules and anyone who "messes up" will be pointed out and patronized the rest of the class period. Do NOT take this professor. He rants in circles with pointless info and doesn't convey material efficiently at all.
it is obvious that he is very smart, but he does not know how to teach. His accent and the color system he used was very confusing. He is not very good at explaining things, and he will make you feel stupid if you ask him any questions. Your entire grade will be based off of 4 tests and a final. Don't take his class if you struggle with math!
worst teacher I have EVER had..
I have been at SCF for 3 years and have never had such a bad experience on the first day of class. I woke up to a leak in my tire and after emailing and talking on the phone and telling him I will take a picture of the tire and show him the receipt with date and time of service , he told me that was not good enough and pretty much just shamed me.
Professor Ozgener is an amazing professor! If you like math and you want to transfer to a university where you'll be taking math you are definitely better off taking your classes with him. You really end the semester feeling you have interiorized a lot of stuff. He's not easy but he's super funny and his classes are awesome.
His lectures are all over the place, and he doesn't follow the syllabus at all. He is a crazy tough grader, taking off huge points for tiny errors. There is a boatload of homework, and his study guides hold no relevance to the tests.
I wish he would teach more about things that would be on the tests instead of random (to me, at least) things. "Study guides" are basically your homework, but he doesn't collect it until the day of the test, which is no help. Basically, if you want to get through this class, you'll need to learn how to teach yourself straight from the book.
He is very hard to understand and doesn't explain the material very well. Everyone learns different and he only has one way. Half the class ended up dripping by the first test. I did to and took it the next semester with a different teacher.
This class is extremely difficult. You basically have to teach everything to yourself. Prof ozgener actually said and I quote, "math is not a subject you get taught, it's a subject you teach yourself." ...I've always done well in math, but I am struggling in this class. I would not recommend this professor to ANYONE.
Not a good teacher. If you have a phone never take it out or he will mark you absent. If you're 5 min late he WILL mark you absent and will not let you sign the atdence sheet. He has a thing for colors too.
His voice was honestly really annoying to me. The way he talks is like he's trying to re-teach the information to himself. He's obsessed with color coordinating everything he writes on the board, probably wastes more time doing that. I love math, so this class was super easy for me. I finished with over 100%. Not sure if I would take him again.
He's a pretty tough professor, in this class you only have 4 tests, the final, and a handful of reviews for your grades so DO NOT skip any of them! I would recommend not skipping a class of his either, he moves pretty fast. He is a nice guy and makes jokes, and that makes his class more enjoyable too. He has a great passion for what he does!
do not take classes with him, i repeat do not. really tough guy
I have a 3.62gpa with no 'C's' on my transcript yet. I might get one now with him. I'm an older adult, not a 18 year old throwing a temper tantrum. These kids are NOT joking about him. He picks on people, mocks them, implies they're stupid in front of class. Can't ask questions, he'll make u feel stupid. You're on your own. Absolutely Horrible
I'm in his class for math. I should've read the ratings. Somebody on 10182014 rated all Five out of Five on every subject. Believe me, that sounds like HIM. Everything sounds like HIM on that post. Don't be fooled. All the 15 Red ratings are VERY VERY accurate.
"I just explained that, were you not paying attention?" is his standard response when students ask questions. Because of this most of the class had to teach themselves from the book, most dropped after 1st test. Set up a frequent study group with a Tudor, or already know the subject. Kinda defeats the purpose of taking the class at all though.
This class was pretty intense. I highly recommend this professor if you want to "really" learn the material. He likes to challenge his students and knows that most of the people in the class are probably STEM majors. I feel this class will prepare me well for when I transfer to the university system.
I had to drop this class because he moved so fast that it was impossible to keep up with his assignments. When he asked students who had done the review (1 of the 3 we were in the middle of doing.) no on raised their hands. His response? "You guys shouldn't have taken this course if you're not going to do the work." too fast of a course.
He is very smart but I never understand how he teaches, but at least he has a great sense of humor.. If you keep up with MML & SG's, you'll pass easily.
I had to drop his class... Math has NEVER been an issue for me, until i took him. He blazes through the lectures, and will answer your questions in a way that leave you asking more questions, and still clueless. what he covers in class is NOTHING compared to what he assigns and tests you on. And trig isn't something you can really teach yourself.
I had an A in all of my Math classes until I had this teacher. He does not review any information, and is very strict. He answers your questions in a very confusing manner. During the class he goes too in depth with who came up with the mathematical procedure rather than teaching you how to use it for the test.
Excellent professor
awful just simply awful. Expect 80-100 questions for review. The reviews are basically homework. He will not go over the review so you have to basically learn by yourself.
Definitely one of the worst professors I've ever had. It is unbelievable at the terrible quality of this professor. He forces you to attend class, but it is the biggest waste of time as he does not even lecture. All he does is talk around the subject and does not really teach it as he never finishes examples and you have to teach yourself.
Horrible profesor, horrible person
Do whatever you can to avoid this professor.
1. Show up and pay attention. 2. Go home and read the book and do the study guide because the lecture will probably leave you a bit rocky on the subject. Exams and the study guide for each (100-ish problems) are your only grades. Strict but occasionally makes you laugh.
Rude, and hard to understand at times. Smart but lacks the patience to be a good teacher. Appears to get mad at students for asking certain questions. Extremely strict about tardies, you cannot even be 2 minutes late... if you are its an absence.
The worst professor I have had, by far. I was a 4.0 student before his class. His lectures are awful and he does not explain a thing. I had to spend 2 weeks on YouTube before the final to learn enough college algebra to pass the class. He does not like students to ask questions when they don't understand and will belittle them in front of the class
I've never done poorly in a class before until this one. His reviews are nothing like his tests, just when you think you've understood something, the test will show that you know nothing at all! Can't wait to have to retake this course after it kills my GPA (:
Though Prof. Ozgener is a tough, his lectures were always good and full of information. If you struggle with math, you might consider another prof. But if you want a class that's a little more challenging than the avg. math course, definitely take him! It was not hard at all to achieve an 'A' in his class, so long as you apply yourself.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. He sincerely does want you to pass as long as you try and put in effort. He has a great understanding of topics and he is quite funny also. I would highly recommend if you really do want to learn math, even though he can be quite difficult. Give him a shot.
Good professor overall even though he doesn't care too much about his students. Do the study guides if you want to pass.
To be sincere, you won't need the textbook that much. Do not buy it! You will need the exercises, though. So be nice to you classmates and ask them to let you copy down the questions at the end of the chapter. Those are worth 100 points of your total grade. Oh, and get ready to be on time. Fifteen seconds late means tardy for him.
As a professor he has fail his duties, he spent a lot of time going in to the history of math, who cares? he does not teach, this guy is a dictator his grade here is 2.4 out of 5 that's an F as far i consider. He will take things personal and forget that he has to teach, he also think that once you step in his class you are his possession. BAD BAD
Very clear instructions on what's expected, he's a great instructor when it comes to actually getting the students to understand the material. NO cell phones, and show up ON TIME. Easy A if you just show up and pay attention.
Never again
This is the worst professor ever, Do not take his class if you want help, have to pass, or want a teacher that is respectful. He is not only a terrible teacher with the worst attitude, you cant even understand what he says. I cant believe he has lasted at the school as long as he has. Take anyone else.
Horrible professor. Study guides are useless and he thinks he is "cool" and "funny". He should be teaching history. Do NOT take him under any circunstance.
Overall Quality: 0 Awful professor.
He is so rude! I asked him a question because I did not understand and he told me "wow that was a stupid question." He does not care about you or your grade. The only grades are the exams which are hard for me. His lectures are unorganized. I had an awful experience with him.
If you are serious about your college career, this professor is no problem, he is hilarious. If you are more concerned with texting your bestie during class, or can't make it on time, do not waste your time.
First and foremost... if you are someone who doesn't respect authority DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS... in fact don't take any classes. He demands that your phone be put away (you'll live), be on time (early), and no talking. His classes are silent and its amazing. I'm easily distracted so i love it! If you're truely here to learn, you will too!
Honestly, he's strict... but overall he's a very great teacher. I believe his teaching environment makes sure you are learning and paying attention. Attendance is mandatory. No homework, other than study guides given!
Recently took this course for summer. Great professor. I was able to stay very sharp in my math studies, thanks to this class and his exceptional teaching. Completing homework and study guides will definitely give you an advantage in the grade book (so do it!). Four exams, four study guide packet. I enjoy scholastic rigor.
A very strong choice for those who are majoring in a math-related field and want to challenge themselves. That being said, if this doesn't apply to you and you simply need a math credit, this guy will be your worst nightmare. I didn't need this class and luckily dropped when I could; felt like I would've gotten PTSD.
Great guy. but hard to follow during lecture sometimes
While it's known that this teacher does not give homework, his lectures are exactly what a college classroom should be like. He may not be thorough but as a college student, the information should not be handed to you like some of the other professors would do. I would gladly take his class for future courses. However, he is tough.
your only grade is tests averaged out, its hard to pass because the study guide isnt always like the test. For example, lets say youre doing chapter 5.5 . On the study guide there will be 1 question that he makes you practice thats on the test, Then he'll assign multiple questions that arent on the test at all. You dont know what exactly to study.
He is a horrible teacher, makes my college attending time dreadful. Treats us like were in 2nd grade
Treats everyone like their dumb, goes on pointless rants about random numbers and then says "we won't be learning about it in this course" and spends majority of the class talking about pointless information. If you are 20 seconds late he will count you absent for that day no exceptions. Very rude when you ask any type of question, and no feedback.
DO NOT TAKE him, if you want to learn pick any other professor!!!
The grades are based almost exclusively on the tests, which are in-person. Lectures are tough to understand because of the abstract nature of all of it. You aren't taught solutions much. Bad class to be in in the morning. Pacing is horrible; tests were bunched up in the last two months. Not accessible. No online at all. Ancient setup. Discouraging.
Class is difficult which forces you to really learn/digest the material. Your grade is composed of 4-5 tests/study guides. Put in the work and you'll get the grade. I took Calc 3 with him over a year ago and his class has helped me become successful in my higher level math classes. I would recommend if you're looking to really learn the material.
There's a LOT of homework (in 6-week course), but after finishing it, each test is a piece of cake. Attendance is a top priority, though if notified accordingly, he is flexible to personal situations. If you need to know trig for your major, taking this course will really help you get it. Do NOT take it if you are looking for fill inn credit.
Do not take him, especially if you are planning to take summer classes. He is a pain in the ass, indeed. Be aware of his exams. He says if you study the study guides you will pass the exam, but do not get tricked. Sadly, the reality is not like that. DO NOT TAKE HIM otherwise you are just going to suffer.
Hes unwilling to work with his students. I tried talking to him and was provided with one word answers. Seemed like a pain in the ass and I if given the chance I would not take any of his classes. Even a minute late and you will not have a tardy but a absence, which we all know what effect has on your grade. He acts like hes preparing you hes not
Got a 37% on the chapter in trig in high school. Now I got 3 100%s on his exams. I'm not special, even multiple people sitting around me had gotten multiple 100s too lol. I refuse to take another math professor while at SCF, he's just too good. His strict attendance and phone policy are worth the great teaching. Bad class if you're colorblind.
Worst mathematics professor. Can only understand this prof half of the time due to his accent. Will ask the class to fill in a question on the board and humiliate you if its incorrect. Doesnt use canvas at all, has his own hard to navigate website. Will mark you absent for being 2 minutes tardy. Do not recommend whatsoever!
This professor doesn't believe in technology he didn't put in any of our grades until 2 weeks before the semester was over and that's because he had to due to the coronavirus pandemic. If you are even a second late he marks you absent, he won't let you go to the bathroom, and if your phone even makes a sound you are marked absent for the day.
He is a tough teacher. Attendance is mandatory. Can't ask questions, if so, he will act like you're dumb. Also gave an attitude with any question you asked. Never straight forward answers. Does not teach some stuff that is on his final. Does not grade things, have to figure out your own grades. He never answers emails.
Do not take professor ozgener unless you absolutely have to. He seems like he enjoys exercising any amount of power he has over his students. He threatens to break phones/does not allow students to use bathroom/extremely strict late policy. The transition to online classes during covid-19 was horrendous, he told us we had to find videos on our own.
He is an absolutely terrible professor and i hope he checks these ratings. Not only can he not teach but he has ridiculous email instructions. He is the only professor who teaches higher level maths. Do not take this professor unless you absolutely have to(which was my case). Scf has to step up and find better professors.
Will not help you in any way
Please, for your own good, do not take this class. He is rude, treats us like we are dumb, and extremely strict(not in a good way). I was an A student before this in every subject- now I am gonna have to drop the class so I dont have a F or D on my transcripts. Study guides dont help and he cant teach at all. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! I had him during the COVID 19 epidemic and I had to withdraw. The class was online and the only thing that he would use to teach us was a 3-page pdf that summarized the book very poorly. He uses the WebAssign tests, which do not reflect the questions in his study guide. He does not teach you, and is rude when you ask questions
This man is an absolute joke, when trying to reach out he told me to stop emailing him. When asking for help to prepare he said to stop emailing. He does not have to grade anything because it is all on webassign but that is still too much for his ability. He should be fired along with whoever thought it was a good idea to hire him.
If you have a question he will make you feel dumb for asking it! Does not care to explain things when you do not understand. he is more worried about your cell phone than teaching students the material. when pandemic happened I was in his class switched to online and dropped from an A to a D because he did not care to help online very mean teacher!
I love this man more than my family. This was the last credit I needed to graduate and I had a solid 58 by the time I finished my assignments but either this man made a mistake (pretty sure it was that) or took pity on me bc he ultimately put my grade in as a C. Other than that his class was insanely hard and made me wanna kms. But ty for my C Ily
Passionate professor with interesting lectures. I bombed his first test, but thankfully stuck with it. Very critical of students and enforces his policies strictly. Majority of grade is exams, but generous with partial credit. Exams derived from in-class problems and study guides. Unfortunately, he did not follow schedule and crammed last chapter.
Great professor, I love his lectures. His classes were very interesting and i liked them a lot.
He teaching is erratic and difficult to follow. Had to do lots of self study in order to get a good grade, which will only work if you already have a good grasp of the concepts you should know.
I enjoyed this class, I mean it is straightforward. Provides study guides to do before each exam which prepare you well for the exam. They are due right before taking the exam. He does have some extreme rules like not being able to use the restroom, but I would overall recommend, don't let these bad reviews scare you.
I hated this class. Extremely boring lectures, unhelpful. I couldn't get access to the textbook and he said that it's not his problem. He encouraged people to chime in and give answer during lectures but then he made you seem like an idiot if you didn't get it right. I hated every second.
Took him online, Course itself is fine enough if you are okay with math, but be prepared to teach yourself everything. He gives no resources outside of the textbook and the homework through MLM. There is virtually no time to study alongside teaching yourself the whole textbook. His email has seemingly automated responses most of the time.
Took his Pre-calc course back in 2022, spring semester, and I would only show up once or twice a week. Thankfully, the online book had video lectures, which were videos of the author of the book teaching pre-calc. Ozgener's lectures were a WASTE OF TIME, the online lectures is what helped me pass!
I have mixed feelings of this professor. The class is very boring puts me too sleep but prepare to work on things outside of class plus alot of studying. The only thing I like about this class is that the tests are multiple choice. He can be very confusing while teaching which ik he is trying but i suggest not taking this classs if u cant do math.
This is a professor that is very knowledgeable of math, but he is not the best at teaching a class. Take this class if you are willing to teach yourself the course material, deal with a larger workload, and handle any complications that involves his strict mindset.
For those of you that need to take any math course, please I implore you to HIGHLY reconsider taking any courses with this professor. He is the kind of professor that does not drop the lowest test score with the final, will not offer any extra credit, and will take away massive points on his exams regardless if the answer is correct. Please listen.
The reviews that you see about this professor are absolutely true and then some. I would not recommend this professor to ANY student whatsoever. I REALLY recommend that you take literally any other professor, I should've taken this class online since I was essentially teaching myself all of the material because he talks 24/7 about what he can do.
This professor's Calculus II class is 100% NOT for the faint-hearted. He is very strict, knowledgeable, and precise about mandatory lecture attendance and emailing acknowledgments of exams, study guides, and merged PDF files for shown work. He is understanding about outside school matters regarding attendance, luckily I passed with a hard fought A.
I want all of you to know that this professor is one of the best professors I have ever had. Professor Ozgener will guide you, if you ask for help. This also means that you as a student need to put in effort. You do not know everything and that is ok. Stop expecting an "A" to happen; you need to work in college. It gets harder from here. Grow up.
This professor is by far one of the best professors I ever had. His instructions were clear. His lectures are purposeful, and he works with his students. I enjoyed his class genuinely and found myself asking him more about the material being lectured on after class due to his enjoyment of teaching. I would strongly advise every student to take him.
After taking the final exam for this course, I think I that this course was horribly managed and lectured. His lectures are boring and unenthusiastic, and his ability to prep his students for upcoming exams is nowhere to be found. As an A student, I have never had a problem with studying and working until taking this course.
I took the accelerated 6-week course. A few things to note: you always need to have your camera on during class, he will call you out if you don't. His teaching style is a bit confusing but manageable. He skips most of applications and graphing, making the course shorter and easier. You are graded only by the 4 study guides, 4 exams, and a final
Not understandable
The worst professor I had, boring lectures, forces you to listen to him for 80 minutes straight (Can't read the textbook or he will stop the class to confront you), even brags about his ability to make students fall asleep with his lectures. Heavy accent, really hard to understand. Makes lessons harder than it really is.1000% would not take again.
Not recommended to take his class, not so respectful teacher.
I never wore my seatbelt while driving to school because I wanted to die before making it to his class
This professor is completely unclear and rude. He responds to questions with unhelpful screenshots, ignores emails over tiny formatting errors, and acts like helping students is beneath him. He's passive-aggressive and unapproachable. If you want clear communication, avoid him. Flat out rude.
The worst professor I've had in my college experience. He does not provide a single lecture and you are expected to teach yourself everything out of the textbook. Excessive amounts of homework. He does not care about his students learning, if you do not figure out how to teach yourself through the homework before exams, you will fail.
Goes on long rants just to say it's not something we could understand. Max grade for study guides could be a 20/25 no matter how much effort you put into it. No leniency for anything.
I had this professor 2 years ago, but decided to come back to vent just because of how bad he is. To clarify, I withdrew from his class solely because of his character, and I decided to take it with a different teacher the next semester, earning an A. He is a bad person, a horrible teacher, and it seems like his goal in life is to ruin yours.
He puts me to sleep, sometimes. The Scantron decides your fate. He gushes over mathematicians.
