Pretty good teacher. Friendly and approachable. Her midterm was way too long and nobody had time to finish it but she realized and admitted it and I think she is still learning too!
Over-teaches and patronizes the students. Acts as if students are children. Makes material look too simple and then complicates the exams unnecessarily. Focuses on theory on exams more than she leads you to believe in lectures. Overall, mediocre at best.

This prof is hot! And helpful! She's always willing to help you out as long as you've put in some effort
This professor is very hot and intriguing, she solves questions in front of you and is very available for students. she is always in her office ready to help us students, she's the best.
she is the best teacher i have encountered so far.
She is a very good teacher, but her lectures are way too simple compared to her exams, so through lectures only you can't learn much, it's always book book book.
Exams are long and hard and out of all proportion to the material covered in class. But on the bright side, she's hot.
exams long and complicated. she knows u won't have enough time to finish so ur marks will be low and she doesn't care. she's not hot but more likely a muscled women :)
Great Prof, I was really happy with her. She is very clear in class and is almost always available to help. I HIGHLY recomend this prof.
She's good. It seems she likes teaching, since it shows. She is well organized in class, and encourages participation. Recommended.
OMG i freakin loved chem an was good at it till i took this class. She is just a BAD prof teaches things from one prespective.. makes everythin looks tolerable then seriously messes the heck outta u with her exams. Take my word an DONT take chem with her!
She kills you in her exams, trust me, no joke! It's not a class torelax, prepare your next best friend; chem book.
Only take Rogers if you are good at chemistry to begin with. Good lectures. She is very prepared and you can download the notes from her website. However, since the lecs. are very good. It's so boring to go to class. Exams are hard. She didn't welcome questions in her office this semester.
a serious teacher.
Maximum use of website. Class and notes are extremely well structured. Past exams available on website as well as chapter problems. Best strategy, study from class notes, and practice exams, textbook problems are secondary. If you experience exam anxiety this is not the class for you. Grading is straight forward, exams are difficult.
rushes through things and doesn't explain properly. why are the exams so hard? does she realize that at least half of the people in her class arent even in chemistry and are only taking the class because they have to? devoting the time needed to get a good grade in the class takes way too much time away from important subjects.
makes u write paragraphs explaning the theory about a single question. she expects mostly theory rather than problem solving in her exams. Final exam was hard and not that similar to her past sample exams. you have to be an A student to be able to pass her class IMO.
I never had a teacher that well organized. She is clear, instructive and she knows her**** inside out. If you attend all the classes and stick to a regular study frequency you are garanteed an A.
This woman is out of her mind. There's a difference between passion and mania. Not very good at hiding the incredibly large chip on her shoulder.
She explains the material well and has excellent notes posted on her website, but she's an extremely tough marker.
Fantasticle. Brilliant professor who makes her class hard for one reason: it is a hard subject. Either you understand it or you don't.To pass or ace the class, you need to understand the subject. DO ALL the work (practice probs) and do what she asks and all will be OK. I wish I had her for all my advanced CHEM classes. Truly the best!
The material to be studies isn't too difficult but this teacher often rushes through as she explains things in far too much detail which always ends up confusing you more. by the end of the semester you don't end up finishing the required work and her exams are far too hard. Doing well in this class will take your attention away from other classes.
Super organized, lectures all available online, pdf. Very friendly, and EXPLAINS VERY CLEARLY!!!
This prof is a great teacher, and very organized. Chemistry is ALOT of information to deal with, prof was behind this term, but gave us a makeup course to finish the information.
very good teacher, always willing to go the extra mile
Try avoiding this professor when taking chem 205
You have to listen very carefully to the lectures, as she talks very fast. The course is rushed, but she does a good job of making sure everything is well explained.
This teacher thinks that all her students have a P.H.D like herself she explains to the class as if everyone understands she doesnt bother making the course simple she just makes it harder and her exams are tough.
Dr Rogers is 1 of the best teachers Ive had. She goes fast, but she has to. There a ton to cover in class. Make good use lectures, skim the assigned chapters in the textbook before class, do the problems, and you'll be in great shape for the final. Her exams are tough but she gives a lot of part marks. She's super clear and willing to help.
Seems to care about students, explains things really well, and is willing to offer extra help if you go seek it.
SO BAD
print out her lectures. Go to class. Pay attention when she solves problems in class. You should do well. Her tests are good if you study and get all the notes. She puts problems from notes on the test and they are usually the same. But if you need a lot of help in chemistry she's not very approachable. Hopefully you get a good TA

she's a very good chem teacher. Do your work and go see her for help and you'll be fine.
One of the best, most conscientious teachers you'll ever have.
Very good teacher and hot too...=)
She's a good teacher and all but good luck with her exams, even if you do well on the midterm she will make harder final to balance.
Good in teaching, helpful office hour instruction, fair exams and assignments.
VERY good teacher. really knows her stuff and is always willing to help you understand it better. Yes exams are hard but a good mark is possible if you studied (I got 100% on the midterm). I very highly recommend her.
AMAZING TEACHER! Knows chemistry BEYOND good, passionate about it, makes class very intersting. Awesome slides and notes, clear, structured and understandable. Her class is a good enough reason to get out of bed at 6 am. Expects full understanding, wants you to explain all calculations in exams. Exams are hard, but fair, no surprises.
Wonder! She will make even a cat understand chemistry. I ve never had a course where i would not need to read a textbook after a lecture. i got A+ just attending lecture and office hours. She is not just a good professor, but a amazing woman too.Super sense of humour and understanding. Register for her classes closed eyes.

I would say exactly what other students have written about her teachings. Highly recommended
This professor didnt understand what is the role of a professor. She's never willing to give more explanation if you asked her. Try avoiding her for chem205.
She is well-structured, organized and approachable. Some students confuse a good prof with a prof who gives easy A's. She gives A's only to those who really deserve them. Do your work and you'll do great (and meanwhile learn a lot). Very fair when it comes to grading!
She talks veryfast but notes are very clear. The explanations she requires on exams are ridiculous.
Tough but fair.
SHE IS WHAT YOU WANT IN A TEACHER. WELL, IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE MATERIAL, NOT ONLY PASS THE CLASS. QUALITY TEACHER!
She's a fine professor, you just need to work a lot to keep up with her in her lectures. Her slides are basically her notes on the subject, which is useless to you unless you have some idea of what she's talking about.
Great teacher, clear and organized. Knows her stuff and expects you to know it too. Teaches very well and explains concepts effectively. I have learned more in this class so far than my other classes this year.
Extremely organised, well-structured, knows what she's doing! Her exams are tricky, they're not exactyl easy. u have to use ur brain..Awesome teacher!
Difficult class. Prof explains things very well..and I really enjoyed listening to her! On exams, she expects really specific answers (half-marks for incredibly specific things and minus marks for lies-so guessing doesn't work) Overall, I learned quite a bit but felt the exams did not reflect this- very hard, and unnecessarily complicated!
Dr Rogers is someone who teaches only for those who are already naturals at chemistry. She whips through the material and doesn't show you how to calculate anything. She is more into the theory of chemistry than anything and if you are someone who has any trouble at all forget this class, she teaches quickly and won't slow down for anyone. Her labs
Rogers is highstrung, in own world. Rushes everything. Too into theory. Tricky. Assumes you already know-unhelpful. Caters to one type of student. Me: A+ student-tried hard- C+. Exams ridiculous- nobody(in 300) ever finishes midterms. Frantically writing -it's a race.Teaches what skill?Cant think things through, check your work. Labs irrelevant.
Ridiculous teacher- races through material-exams more like essay questions- serve to undermine what you know instead of strengthening it. Tricky for no good reason. Overteaches and underdelivers somehow.Avoid this professor. Labs boring to tears when they could be good. Tricky too, confuse what you know. Stupid class all in all.

Fast pace, must read text before hand, she could teach chem to a donkey, exams are DIFFICULT! Although she warns you and prepares you for it. Sample exams available. Very clear marker!!
I had her for Chem 205 and 206. I admit she is a tough marker and the course material can be difficult. However, I learned a lot in her courses. It made my future science courses easier because she made the other profs look easier :P Don't let that discourage you as well. If you put in the effort you can still get a great mark.
Very professional and approachable, nicest professor I've known and willing anything to help.
Very good teacher. Course material is hard and she marks hard but overall good. Very approachable and willing to help. Worth the effort. Also posts lectures online, which makes review much easier
Great Professor. Organized. Explains clearly and lectures at a reasonable pace. Exams were relevant to the topics covered in class. Overall the class was challenging, fun and meaningful (useful base of knowledge for other sciences)
Fantastic prof. She assumes that you've read the text and are willing to learn chemistry. If you're looking for a bird course, you're barking up the wrong tree. If you can't keep up, and need help, she's always willing to do so during her office hours. Great prof.
Well, you DO need to be prepared to class and read the textbook. She is very organized and explains well. It's not an easy course, and she is a tough marker. You do need to study for this course and READ the textbook. She's an amazing prof overall!
This teacher thinks we're all chemists. She should keep in mind that not everyone in her class are in some kinda chem program, there are actually some students in class who are taking this chem class solely as a pre-requisite. Her exams are VERY DIFFICULT! I've never seen such a difficult exam in my life.
AVOIDD!!!!!!! She teaches well but extremely hard exams... take her if you want to fail
Prof. Rogers is excellent. She certainly isn't the easiest professor, but she's very good. She knows her stuff, and is willing to apply any aspect of the course to your personal area of study. Also, she makes good use of time.
She is a very good professor, she can express her meaning clearly, but her exam doesn't easy.
Good teacher. Tough marker;however, she just take in consideration your process rather than the final answer. Whenever I made a question, she is able to answer me. (This is the first time a professor from Concordia who really answer my question instead of saying "this is far beyond the course, read the textbook and you will see...."
I would not take another lecture with Dr. Rogers. Her lecture slides are far too busy & her she makes too many mistakes when solving problems in class. Also her grading is abnormally strict. I can understand being picky in a 400 level course, but for a prerequisite that we are only taking because we have to, too much was expected of us.
Dr. Rogers is the best professor I had this year and the best that I've had in years. She goes through the material in a way that is accessible to the students and always manages to relate it back to the real world, which helps me remember the material even more--I even find myself bringing it up later with friends because it's so interesting! 4
She is one of the best professors that I have had, and she is very knowledgeable. You can easily get an A+ if you read her notes and do some practice.
Understand the slides well and go through the posted mid term papers and posted finals. go through all the posted ones and especially the solved ones. Clicker is extra 5% if you attend all the class. I would love to take hr again.
Best teacher in Chem department. Although she demands you know a lot of details, she cares about her students. Extremely knowledgeable and impressively well organized. Go to class, study the slides, and concentrate on practicing old exams that she posts. She sets you up as best as she can so that you cannot fail. Exams a bit tough but quite fair.
she is a wonderful person and her lectures are very helpful, you don't even need to study the textbook if you take good notes of her lectures. take advantage of her office hours, she is super nice and makes sure you understand every thing.
The best professor I have encountered in my academic life. Her slides - in all classes - are crytsal clear, well organized and packed with useful information. They guide you in your understanding. Her lectures are very good: she explains her slides extremely well and is overall very fun, engaging and lucid, with useful comments a norm. A must.
Carrie is an awesome and very kind instructor. She cares for her students. They either know the material and pass for their own good or they don't know and don't pass. She will do her best to help you if she can, although I have known her schedule to be of the busiest.
Inorganic 1 with Dr. Rogers was an awesome class. It really answers all those chemistry fundamentals questions that will have been nagging you if you just did a whole bunch of organic. Dr. Rogers is clear and the lectures are helpful, but the thing that really makes her a good prof is office hours. She has a lot of time for you.
Rogers is one of the best profs out there. She is an excellent teacher and very sympathetic. Makes lectures very valuable. Stresses understanding over "plug and chug" formulas. Very available to help when you need it. Very good choice if you can get her.
She cool. Had her for both chem 205/206. Honestly reading the book is better. Learn the course theb go to class and ull be fine. Participation matters . Clicker for 5%. But I would take her again. I think I got over b in both but a+ in both very attainable if u put in time
She's super on-point, explicit, and thorough and gives you all the materials you need to do well. Also, amazing preparation for many future courses in chemistry: if you do well here you save so much time in having to relearn stuff in kinetics, thermodynamics, organic 1, etc.
Best teacher I have ever had
Highly recommended. Super well organized and thorough. Take her, you wont regret it. Having her will make you realize how bad your other profs are If you didn't already know).
She is well prepared for any question you want to ask. Feel free to ask her. Do the owl practice as much as you can. You will find the course easy.
Dr Rogers is a very well organised teacher, I found her lectures were really easy to follow because she always posted the slides on the website beforehand and she teaches reasonably well. As long as you show up to class you'll get the marks for the clicker questions and study the practice exams for the final and midterm.
amazing teacher, but tests are hard (but fair)
Awesome prof! She really teaches everything clearly and is way better than the other chem teachers here. She using great analogies to understand hard content and is very nice to talk to if needed. Exams are fair and she post past exams on moodle before. She does clicker questions so attendence does matter. I'm definitely taking her again for 206.
Dr. Rogers is an inspirational teacher. She works with first year students, challenge them with Chemistry, yet walks away as by far the most respected teacher in everyone's schedule. Even though I am a young man, I could tell she had a profound impact on aspiring young women. Chemistry is tough, but she is asset to you and Concordia.
Very nice teacher and very enthusiastic. Haven't had her for exams yet but her classes are super interesting and she's very understanding.
One of the few teachers I have rated good in this university. She is so nice and understanding. She makes lectures so easy and laid back you just want to keep listening to her and she fuels passion in you to love chemistry. Don't be fooled though exams and tutorials will test you well but she is a great teacher.
Amazing prof! One of the best profs I've had in Concordia. Makes lectures interesting by giving plenty of examples and real-life analogies. She makes you work to get a good grade, though attending her lectures and studying a minimum was enough for me to pass. Would definitely take again!
She is an Angel. very organized super caring funny enthusiastic professor , I'm taking again with her, her lectures are elaborate and precise, but the context is much to study and it is a heavy course, one and only issue that may be consider as a negative point is that she teaches very fast and if you cannot keep up you will fail
Awesome teacher. Gives a high quality course. Take her if you can.
She's the nicest prof. Chemistry is a hard course in general but she's so fair and really wants the best for her students. She makes the outline so you can get a really fair mark. So approachable and absolutely amazing. TAKE HER!
she is such an angel. trust me you'll do good in her class, she really wants the best for everyone. shes super approachable and i wish i could give her a thank you hug
CHEM 205 is a heavy course, but Dr. Rogers makes it bearable. Fantastic lecturer, and is very clear as to what will be on exams. Practice her past midterms and finals, study her lecture slides, do OWL practice problems, and most importantly, show up to all of her lectures. Rogers wants her students to succeed and is definitely a top-tier prof.
Overall great prof was very clear and used interesting examples to explain difficult concepts. Take advantage of her office hours she is really helpful.
Dr. Rogers is caring and helpful! Her lecture is amazing, try to attend every lecture you will get 5%. Try to take her course, and you wont regret your decision! Sometimes there will be some problems about grade calculations. Dont hesitate, come to her office hours and tell her your situation! Miracles will happen!
As far as the lecture is concerned Mrs Rogers is a great teacher, she knows her stuff. However, this course is by far one of the least modern in the uni there are far too many components you're graded by and making a tut and lab mandatory with the class is just ridiculous. It's too much mandatory stuff and when you're full time it is terrible!
Well, she's a smart individual and you can tell that she's a good chemist. However teaching is not for her, it doesn't mean if you're good at something that you're automatically good at teaching it, probably research is her play ground but NOT teaching. Get ready to be your own tutor!!
Started to realize towards the end of the semester that her explanations for otherwise simple concepts were quite convoluted and confusing. Chem 206 also has one of the most tedious components ever devised for a course. Final exam did not reflect posted past finals, very unfair. Overall: brilliant prof who means well, but a frustrating class.
A very heavy course, but taking it with Dr Rogers makes it a lot more bearable. She is extremely passionate about the subject, and makes it hard for you to not be at least a little interested in it. Even for someone like me who went into the class dreading chemistry.
I don't know what it is about her, but she goes off on tangents that aren't necessarily about the topic at hand. Would be nice if she went through problems step by step and wrote on the board for once. She's a decent lecturer but if you're absent minded or have attention problems it'll be a chore.
She's just amazing!
Like others have mentioned, the material itself is easy, but she made it really hard by giving a ridiculous amount of homework, with mandatory attendence of lectures, tutorials, and weekly quizzes. This is not high school, and learning should be independent at unviersity. Students should have right to decide which learning style best suits them
It was a difficult class, even with attending every lecture, lab, and tutorial. Dr Roger's is very passionate and I enjoy her lectures, I like that she uses the clicker to make it more interactive as well. You're not going to find an 'easy' chem205 class but she is a fair grader and very open to talk/help her students. Overall a great prof!
Honestly her exams are not difficult and are very repetitive, she even posts the exams for you to solve. She's an amazing professor, and I easily got an A+ on her course.
Dr Rogers is my favourite professor at Concordia. She is a brilliant prof whom not only gives you a solid understanding of Chemistry topics, but makes them land in a way that pertains to real life; not just a calculation on some exam. She is legendary!
I like the course however not my favourite lecturer, struggled to stay on top of lectures I thought I would get used to her teaching style but didn't see much improvement. I had to resort to wizedemy to re-learn and catchup in the course.
Genuinely cares about her students and knows the content well, but I ended up learning from YouTube & watching her recorded videos at 1.75x. I didnt really understand her explanations. Go to the optional lectures because less people go so its a bit more interactive and she explains problems more thoroughly.
She is such a great professor. She literally explains every detail in her class. She is very energetic and confident and she gives people a feeling that she knows what she is saying to her students. She is also helpful and you can meet her during office hours and she is happy to answer your questions.
She really cares! Just do ur part and make her effort worth it. One of the only profs which will go in detail for each and every student, and doesnt mind repeating things. Super understanding.
Professor Rogers is an amazing teacher, she cares about making us understand and she lands the information to actual examples in everyday life which makes learning chemistry an amazing moment of your day. She is also very kin and attentive, do not spare any time when it comes to do exercises practices in office hours. If you like chem go with her!!
Adding my voice to the choir: Dr. Rogers is the single most caring professor I've ever had. For a first-year general chemistry course, the sheer amount of effort she put in was incredible. Yes, there are many lectures; watch only what you need. There's a lot of information, and not very much time. You need to prioritize that which you do not know.
Honestly such an amazing prof. The course itself is not the easiest, but if you follow along her lectures and ask questions you'll be fine. Although she posts a lot of long lectures to watch, they're REALLY beneficial. She doesn't leave a single thing out. Watch them in advance and take notes. Taking her again for 206 cause of how much I liked her!
Although she explains well her lectures, she ignored my emails and did not answer them at all even when I sent multiple follow-ups which I find not professional and not ok.
She overwhelms you with material to study, and when you ask additional questions, she either ignores you or gets frustrated. Unfortunately, Concordia does not have many professors offering CHEM 205 and 206,.. Avoid if you can
She's super sweet... But her class and teaching style is AWFUL. She posts insanely long lectures weekly, and her exams are very tough. Had to disc Chem 206 this semester because I couldn't keep up although I was studying hard and did well in Chem 205. Her class felt like 3 classes in one.
Absolutely brilliant, very patient, able to explain "painfully slowly". 100% recommended.
So much work needs to be done, the concepts are already hard to understand but this class takes hours of studying. Ended up dropping the class. But she is the best chem professor in the program.
Pretty awesome to have Dr. Rogers as the professor for this course. She makes it quite enjoyable.
great teacher!
amazing prof for CHEM205! loved every single of her lectures with clear passion for teaching and sense of humor. she always wants the best of her students and makes sure that the material is explained well enough and provides tons of material to prepare you for her exams! midterm was very fair and overall enjoyable course
Best prof for CHEM 206, super sweet, helpful, would take again!!
Said I'd never make it to the grad school I wanted if I didn't work harder. Wish I could thank her for the guidance and that she could see me succeeding now.
She is approachable and explains things very well in her office hours. Slides are visually very busy and sometimes confusing. Pacing of the course was a little weird, always felt like we were 'behind.' Overall solid, one of the stronger chem professors.
I dropped out of science in cégep due to chemistry and ended up doing a BCOMM and hated my career path. Decided to give science a try again and was utterly terrified of chemistry, since I had failed so miserably the first time. Not only did I get an A+ in both 205 and 206, but Dr Rogers managed to make me fall madly in love with chemistry.
Genuinely the best prof I've ever had, for any class, period. Absolutely incredible, definitely take her class if you have the chance! The topics can be difficult but she explains them clearly and gives many examples.
The best prof ive ever had. Amazing prof, gives great lecture and teaches perfectly, always available to help and truly cares for you to learn. Absolutely amazing
Best prof for chem 205. She posts all her slides, video lectures, recommended textbook questions, past tests, etc. The exams rly reflect the course material. Attendance isn't mandatory but counts for 2.5%, her lectures are rly helpful though and she explains concepts in a way that allow u to understand w logical reasoning over memorization.
personally i struggled a bit but i think it was an issue with the class not the prof. she was lovely and really knew her stuff. slides are a bit confusing so it's important to pay attention in lectures and ask questions
She explains very good the materials, the exams are not tough with enough practices and the exams are related to the materials received in the course.
