dedicated teaching is such a lie. Can be a real j__k
Knows marketing inside and out. Funny guy-stories had to the lectures. Doesn't curve so make sure you study the material inside and out. Have to go to class because he adds exam questions from lecture material that is not in book.
boring and will not hesitate to put students on blast. ace 2 of 3 tests and never have to go again.
I will never take this professor again! horrible!
do not take! i didn;t really learned anything and i missed only 2 classes! he is a funny guy but teaching style not very good..
Heres something u need to know. hes very funny. teach by slides. good examples relate to course. but his test will kill u. thats it!
Professor Maloles has a very think Philipino accent, which makes him difficult to understand.
You must read the text in order to pass. He is not much help.
His grading style does not appeal to me - he does cases based on points. If you miss the mark on one section you could very easily end up with a poor grade. On the last case the highest grade in the class was a C-. Tests are straight from the book so READ IT. The online services provided by the book are pretty helpful - Choose a good group!
Bad teacher, doesn't teach what was suppose to be on the test, but having a class discussion to pass his time.
Took him for two marketing classes. Lectures from slides word for word, includes side note stories used in test. HW wasn't assigned, report in one class. Tests are hard, questions tricky. He's funny but can get off track. Means well but often can be a little intimidating when answering questions. liked but wouldn't take a third time
He teaches from slides: word for word. He is not helpful or accessible. Hi assignments are not hard, but his tests are; and they are tricky.
THE WORST "TEACHER" ON EARTH! he only talks about his life/travels the ENTIRE class. Seems like he just wants an audience to be heard. he is not helpful, insightful, or engaging. he is actually pretty condescending and likes to counter students points of view to the point that it's not worth sharing an idea or thought during class. AVOID!
Don't even bother showing up for his lectures, they are word for word from the powerpoint presentations provided with the textbook. Just read the chapters a couple times and review the powerpoint slides for an easy A. Oh, and he drops the lowest grade out of three exams.
Took this teacher for marketing and he was terrible. He tries to tie his lecture with his personal life and make it funny. The lectures will make you go to sleep cause they are terrible. The way he grades is that there are 3 test and he only counts the best 2, the problem is that they are extremely difficult because his lectures are jibberish.
Class is painful to sit through, however if you read the text and go to class it is an easy grade.
class is straight forward. do the readings and you'll be fine.
Is not helpful in anwering questions. Acts like a three year old with an attitude. Tests are not too difficult but the lectures are boring
Irritating.. Somewhat rude and blunt.. Annoying.. Whenever i would go to class (the very few times that i did) it was impossible to pay attention to his incessant rambling and none sense examples.. Marketing is a pointless subject as it is and his class just further reiterated my beliefs :)
Unprofessional and RUDE! Tests are a little tricky but all comes from the book/Sometimes little snippets from lecture from extra credit. Contraction himself says "attendance is not mandatory" but he gets mad if you leave early or don't come. How's that work? If you want to be bored to death but an easy grade take him, but make him A LAST RESORT!
Can be very Rude! Contradicts himself, read everything and you get a good grade. This class is a serious snoozer though. Make this teacher your last resort!
extremely unhelpful and rude. asks for opinions of the class but does not agree with them. thinks he is an expert on all cultures and that he is the most traveled person on the planet.stereotypes all cultures and makes offensive remarks about them.
If you attend every class and go through his grueling lecture, you're guaranteed an A or B. If you don't you can still pass, but you'll need to read the book and you won't get *bonus* questions which are normally about 5 per test. He can be rude sometimes and generalizations are ridiculous.
class is hard brah!!!3 exams and will drop the lowest one, so your exam =50% each. Too many trick questions on the exam, and reading the book takes awhile!!!
The most rude, incorrect, and factually out of date teachers i have ever taken. In his book all the students are wrong and he is right (he's hardly right). If this was my first marketing class I would fail, but i have taken enough marketing classes that all the information was a review. If you know marketing you'll be okay, if you dont STAY AWAY!
I don't normally write feedback about professors, but this class is really something. The class is extremely boring, he just goes over the ppt slides, doesn't make any effort to make the class interesting, exams have nothing to do with lectures, except for some trivia which he gives for extra credit. I got A, but in truth, didn't learn anything.
Class can be boring. He reads from ppt slides. He likes people who participate. Exams are hard and concept based. Recommend making notecards with concept definitions. This will help for exams. GO TO CLASS! 5 extra cred. questions from class lecture on exam. If he offers the electronic book get the paper text, online book=slow and horrible quality
Stay away from his class, horrible teaching skills, very boring, 3 very hard and tricky test, drop the lowest test. Very rude and unprofessional, talks rude about other countries, makes people feel uncomfortable. The average score test was F in his class. He fail half majority of students.
3 exams & drops the lowest one so If you have a bad test day you get a cushion. Didn't think he was rude or mean like the other comments, a little boring & just wants class to participate so sometimes calls on students for questions. Show up to class & read the book! Didn't feel like tests were tricky as long as you did the work. Would take again.
A great tutor with a extensive background in marketing. He refers to relevant examples from the everyday business. Interesting!
test are tricky; however, think of his class as application based. It doesn't matter if you know the terminology if you can't apply it. Some classes are interesting , some will bore you. Really depends on how interactive students are. I don't think he is rude to students, he just want you to think harder. READ THE BOOK!
Couldn't pick most of the tags above without getting sarcastic. This teacher was the worst during my experience at Cal State East Bay. All he did was discuss how much better the eastern(Asia) world was compared to the western world (Americas & Europe). Group projects are a complete joke, as are his lectures. That being said he drops the lowest test
I enjoyed his class and lectures were very interesting and entertaining. Pay attention and study then you'll pass, it's that simple. No assignments, just 3 tests where he drops your lowest test score. He's not as bad as people make him out to be.
My class: Juniors and seniors, 85% didn't get higher than a C on his gahd awful tests. He says it's because people don't show up, BS! One my of friends is an Econ. Major has a 3.5 GPA, Econ classes you know are really tough, he got a 3040 on both tests so far, and this guy studies really hard. It's a hard and useless class you won't use in life.
Honestly Professor Molales isn't that bad it's a pretty straight forward class. Three tests all 45 questions he takes the best two so if you are happy with your first two you don't have to go to class the last 2-3 weeks. You can use a dictionary so I copy and pasted terms from his slides in a word document printed it and taped it in the dictionary
D0 NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!
He is one tough cookie. He lectures though out the whole class time, even the long 1 hr 50 mins lecture classes. Gets very angry when you leave early or arrive late. HE WILL CONFISCATE YOUR PHONE IF YOU USE IT! No assignments for the extra boost if you fail the tests and no extra credit either. There are 3 tests and he drops the lows one. BE AWARE!
wouldn't recommended as first option , but if you wanna get it out of the way and your good a multiple choice test you can pass this class easy, just study the slides, plus he drops the lowest test, the cons of the class is he keeps you the whole class and will put you on the spot if you leave early, makes fun of students and hard to understand
First of all, I do not understand why students dislike Dr. M so strongly. Personally, I highly enjoy his lectures. Yes, they may be a little dry at times, but if you actually pay attention, listen, and participate you WILL learn about marketing. Dr. Maloles tells many personal stories that I enjoy. I will def be taking more MKTG classes w/ him!!
This man is something else, I truly do not feel like he cares about his students passing or not. Last week he even told students to drop, rather then trying to help the students failing he rather tell them to get lost basically. first exam wasn't bad received a 32/40 but second exam I studied the book and powerpoint and received a 28/40. AVOID!!!!!
Hated his class
He is a very straight-forward guy, and his grading rubric is crystal clear. He takes two best scores out of three tests. If you are satisfied with your first two grades, you don't have to take the third test. His tests are multiple-choice and application-based, so you have to read the textbook to be familiar with marketing terms. NO quiz & homework
Professor Maloles was actually really interesting and a good fit for international marketing. His grading wasn't too hard or too easy for this course. 3 case studies that you should ask his help for to get full credit. Your group may or may not have to present! He gives extra credit on tests and has floor grading on cases! International expert!
Inflated Lectures. You will slowly start to drift off as he talks about "the one time his friend who bought a volvo blew out two, oh wait one or was it two tires? anyway that's why I don't buy volvos" wondering when he is going to explain the concept behind the lecture topic that will be on the test.
Prof. Maloles is teaches in the discussion teaching style. If you read and participate frequently you will get a good grade. If you do well on the first two tests then you don't have to take the final and can skip the last 4 weeks of class. Pay attention, stay positive , read the book, and you will do fine
students dislike this professors are mainly who were not eager to learn. thats why csueb does not rank in the top. If caleb has more professors like Professor Maloles, making the class heavy, and telling real stories, expanding the knowledge. if you really want learn things deeply, and get truly help in your future career. you take him.
Cesar is a nice guy, but his lectures are quite dry. He works in marketing so expect to hear his personal stories that relate to the material. He is occasionally funny, but that doesn't compensate for his stale lecture style. Cesar encourages discussion in class. But if it doesn't happen, he will pick out an unknowing person to participate.
DO NOT EVER TAKE HIM. If you dont want to waste your time. NO bonus credit. No review. No guide. Test hard. No the other to improve your grade or scoure.
He doesn't assign homework or quizzes. You're only graded on two midterms and a final; best two out of three. No study guide. If you take this class read the book, understand all the terminology and show up for class. The tests are difficult because he quizzes in detail about what he's teaching.
Tests are not impossible to pass. I never attended class and just read the textbook and made my own notes. I didn't even look at his power points. Class is manageable if independent study is your thing. Grade is based on best two of three exams. Got a B+ even thought I never attended class ever and only showed up for exams.
No homework. Only gave 3 exams, where the lowest one is dropped. Weekly discussion posts. Overall an easy A. His communication skills are extremely poor though. Maybe they're great in person. But through email he came off as condescending. I questioned him on something and he was almost irritated that I had a question. Bizarre.
Worst teacher I've ever had in 6 years of college.
Do not take this professor!!! He has 2 very opinionated mid-terms (m.c.) and a final group presentation. Throughout this course he challenged many students. If he asks a question, DO NOT ANSWER because he is only right. During the final presentations, he began to challenge multiple students until many of them walked out of class from frustration.
SO RUDE, CONDESCENDING, TELLS POINTLESS STORIES IN CLASS. one time he asked the class how much they have spent on luggage to the Philippines and I said I checked mine in for $50 one time and he told me I was wrong. When that was my experience.. Tests are based on his opinions--not facts. He bullies his students and makes you feel stupid
Wouldn't recommend this professor. Tests are based on his opinions rather than facts. Same goes for the group project grading. He will choose to argue with students and frustrate them rather than be objective about his evaluations of coursework.
Very rude and degrading professor. Asks students to participate in class, if anyone ever did he would tell them their answers were wrong. One group presentation, he tore every group apart. Made students feel stupid. He takes best 2/3 tests for grading, no study guide and tells you to read textbook when not much of that material is on tests. Avoid.
90% of grade tests; 10% discussions on his lecture questions; belittling
Make sure to read the book. He claims the exams are not based on terms and definitions but it is. You have to know how to apply the terms to the Examples given. Also he will include questions on the exam that are based on material discussed the class prior to the exam make sure to show up to every class.
Lecture is amusing and sometimes enjoyable. Discussion assignment is vague and judging by his limited responses, there are no answers that he actually likes.
He graded us on discussions and we took 3 exams (he only counted 2 so he dropped the lowest score). The grading was 90% exams and 10% discussions (each discussion was only worth 1 point). Get an A on the exams, do a few of the discussions, and you're good to go. He also responds well to emails.
The class was graded purely on the exams. He gave out 3 exams, 2 of the highest which would be accounted for. He doesn't give study guides. His lectures and lecture slides aren't even HIS, they come straight from the book. Might as well teach yourself by reading the book. He's terrible. Tests are all based on his opinions too, not facts.
Took him for International Marketing and he was horrible. A waste of tuition money. He's super rude when you ask him to clarify and dodges the questions you ask. Only passed because of group case studies, other wise his tests are horrible and opinion based.
I was nervous about Maloles prior to taking this class. Lets just say the reviews are right. He is unclear, demeaning, unhelpful, and from what I have seen from people in my class rude. He will contradict the book in his lectures, but give tests on reading material. I am happy to have passed, and wish luck to anyone unfortunate enough to have him.
He is a horrible teacher but makes it easy to pass because you're only graded on three exams total and he drops the worst one. He doesn't count attendance, and you could theoretically just take the first two midterms if you get good grades on them. I missed the first midterm, never went to class, took the last two exams and got an A-
He tells you what he expects from you from day 1. Not mandatory to go to class. No Homework. 3 exams are graded but he drops the lowest graded exam. Allows any dictionary during exams but no notes. He's kinda boring during lectures but he's not a bad professor. Most professors are boring during lectures.
Do not take him!!!!!!!
He is in fact horrible
Heres the thing, not my favorite teacher at all. But if you read the book and actually study you can pass. Easily. Its very vocabulary based and all from the text book. Put in the work and you can do it. Seriously. Dont dwell on how horrible he is and try to pass for your own sake. Learned from experience..
Nice guy, horrible teacher. So basically teach yourself! Entire grade are best two exams out of 3. so 50% each exam!
Best two out of three exams is the grading policy. Two midterms and a final. Exams are difficult. Professor does little to help people synthesis their own answers from the textbook. It would be helpful if there were assignments to help guide your understanding of the materials. He is willing to help if you visit his office.
The professor uses responds lockdown browser and isn't into teaching the students but rather is teaching for a check. Beware of the grading 80% is tests and 20% is writeup assignments.
The rudest, most condescending person. Makes rude comments to students, and isn't even a good teacher. Don't waste your time taking this professor- AVOID AVOID AVOID. I don't even want to work on his class- I think he finds joy in making students unhappy.
Rude, mean, doesnt help, blame students, doesnt know how to be a teacher, would argue w/ students in class rather than teaching
you can pass if you read the book and pay attention to the material, but he's a pretty bad teacher overall; he mostly gives stories/examples in class that are kind of related to the subject and then goes off track; he also has an issue with people leaving in the middle of class and will call you out on it or stop talking until you've left the room
WORST teacher on earth. only talks about what car he bought and where he traveled to. Lectures are not helpful. He said that attendance are not mandatory, blames u for no show. Says NO to everything students answered, very good at making u feel bad. Everything is based on his opinions. Always go off the topic, no clear answer to questions
A lot of people in my class had to drop because he is not lenient at all with grading. You have to teach yourself because he is not helpful. I passed, so it is possible. You just have to deal with a condescending, unhelpful teacher in order to get credit. Loves to point out anything you do wrong. You have to keep track of whats due yourself.
please do not take with him
please do not take with him .
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE HIM. I would gather poke my eyes out then take another class with this man.
BEWARE! Do not take his class. So many people had to drop & he encouraged it of us. He makes a big deal if you come late or leave early, disrespectfully. His exam questions are unnecessarily difficult in the sense that more than one of the multiple choice answers could be correct but he expects you to pick the best answer according to him
Terrible professor. When given ways to improve, he simply argues back. He doesn't want to change or improve at all. Tests are hard. Show up to class for his lecture or else he'll make a fuss and use it as an excuse to not pass you.
He said attendance was not mandatory but he blames if you dont show up. Lectures are not helpful to the exams, he is not helpful as well, so good luck reading the book on your own and try to memorize the whole book but that will not help too because 5 choices for one questions and all 5 are very similar. You have to read his mind to get it right
never seen a professor who encourage students to drop b/c the results for the first exams were bad. He doesnt care about students. He said his other classes are also doing bad but he doesnt think it is his fault and he thinks his teaching style is amazing. He thinks is our fault of not passing the class when he doesnt teach and provide no help
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! WASTE OF MONEY. He is rude disrespectful and demeaning. He makes sexist comments about women and trust me even if you go to every class and read the chapters of the book word for word you will not pass the test! Our class did the BEST according to him and we averaged a D- !! Please dont waste tuition or your time!
Took marketing principles with him and he treats us like we are marketing pros. His exams are extremely difficult but he does not help students prepare for the exams. He acted like he's willing to help but confused us more because he does not give a direct answer, he talks about his own experience but no clear answer at the end of that discussion
how am i suppose to learn when you dont give a clear answer? if you take his class, you will have to do everything on your own. Teach yourself, study by yourself, and guess his mind on exams. His exams are extremely hard. Did everything i could when i study for exams. Read the book, read quizlet, read chegg and course hero. Still failed.
I doubt he just sit there to receive his pay. No hw no quiz no practice questions no study guides. You are all on your own. Lecture slides are not at the same level as the exams. Pray for luck if you take class with him
His exams make no sense
Best 2/3 exams. He tells you to drop if you did bad on the first two. Exams are hard and the wording does not make any sense at all. Not what I expected in an introduction course. Dont suffer!
Please do not take him, u will have to teach yourself and fail the exams
Absolutely worst teacher ever. Never had I had a teacher get mad for including a response that was not his answer. For ever discussion post you could only answer with what he said. There is no room for actual critical thinking because you're basically wrong anyways. Wish I could have dropped this class from the beginning as it is not worth my time
Out of the many online courses I have taken, currently 30, this one takes the cake. WORST TEACHER AND CLASS EVER!! DO NOT TAKE!!! You don't learn anything, the book is a waste, his lectures are boring and do not make sense at all. The tests are a joke, nothing you learn or the concepts are on there. I cannot believe CSUEB allows this man to teach.
Worst teacher ever he should be fired and shouldnt be allowed to teach kindergarten much less at a university. At this point the school is more to blame for allowing this to go on its embarrassing to the university to have such a terrible professor.
2 out of 3 exams, and weekly discussion boards. You are truly left to with just reading the textbook, and grasping the material on your own. He provides no additional support or material to help students apply what they read into context of his exams (which is essentially your whole grade). Condescending, lazy teaching skills, not a teacher AVOID
NO!. You can read every chapter and YOU WILL NOT PASS. No notes for tests, no proper study guide, no homework that further implements the reading. Taking the exams is like participating in a guessing game.
The grading distribution curve is situated over a D- so forget anyone earning an A in his class. The grading is deceptively simple only based on tests and group work. If you are thinking of taking this professor then he will take great pride in lowering your G.P.A. with a smile.
wouldnt recommend. Grading on exams only and he would not provide any help. Read the whole textbook but failed.
Class is all self learning. You watch the pre-recorded lectures to listen to examples from his script that he includes on exams and homework. Classes were Q&A sessions since all his lectures were prerecorded and posted. It seems random what goes on the test, good luck memorizing everything.
Avoid at all costs! The prof shares vast amounts of info about his personal life and does not teach the material that is on the tests. My grade consisted of the best 2 of 3 exams. The class is a waste of time and money. I put more time and effort into writing this review than he did in teaching the class.
Forreal... AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Lots of reading, 4 quizzes 10 pts each and 3 exams (best 2 out of 3), & heavy ASS lecturing. Doesn't grade on a curve and the exams are hard! Multiple choice, but hard because you really have to understand the concepts. There are some questions based on definitions, but it's not a memorization type of exam. Good luck!
One of the worst teachers I have ever had in my entire life. The class isn't structured to learn or understand the material he expects you to know for tests. Boring lectures that are hard to keep up with. Expects you to memorize info from the book & lectures but it don't match the questions on exams. Tons of reading and no notes for exams. Avoid!
This is by far the worst professor I have taken a class with. Privacy concern when taking a test, while the cam is on. For an hour test, you will have a 3-hour window to take the test, in the middle of the day, how well will that work for a working adult. He is not really a professor, but a moderator.
Avoid this prof. There are 3 exams, one is dropped, and there are 4 'critical thinking exercises' that are worthless as study material. The jump in difficulty on the exams is astronomical. Also the lectures are a dry script reading. You can hear the prof flipping through the pages of the script. Not exactly inspiring material.
MAN... y'all are rude. I don't know why he's ever graded a 1. Just read and you'll do good! He has critical thinking exercises which are T/F questions (common sense) and he drops your lowest exam so he basically grades you for 2/3 (his exams are also common sense) He does do lockdown browser, no notes, and webcam turned on. Thank you professor!
His in person class and the reading is difficult he has very few assignments. Tests aren't even based off the reading or lectures. He just gives examples with little words on his slides. It is super scripted. He bases his examples on his opinion. Very opinionated and only talks about his views and thinks his answer is the correct answer.
His tests did not correspond to the textbook or the lectures at all! His lectures were terrible and he would take forever to explain a few slides. Seems like he has no experience with marketing. The workload wasn't bad at all and it is possible to pass, but I learned nothing from him.
Try to avoid taking his course if you can. Exams are lecture heavy. He tests on things he mentioned on the lecture but not on textbook or his PP presentations. I also pointed out a mistake on a quiz before including the page in the textbook that mentioned the correct answer, but he fought with me. He would not admit his mistake.
Class is very lecture heavy but if you follow along with the textbook, you will be able to answer the exam questions easily. Assignments are simple and follow material covered in lectures. I found Professor Maloles' class to be very interesting and not overwhelming at all, despite having some doubts upon reading his ratings.
I was worried about this professor since his ratings aren't very good, but honestly this class was easy. He's very clear about the assignments and tests, a quick grader, and no surprises.
A marketing class sounded fun, maybe role-play as an ad-agency or some fun real world project? Nope not with Maloles. It's zero participation, read the book, watch the lecture, then take an exam with 5 year old test bank questions. If you're looking to cheggpt an A, it's fine and you'll get one. If you want to actually learn something, try another
Pretty easy course. I had asynchronous online course and I passed with an A-. Would recccomend.
online class was really easy, there was only 4 assignments and three exams but you only need to take two of them, i would take an online class of his again tbh! super easy to pass
If you're just looking to get an easy A, Maloles' class is pretty straightforward. Lectures can be dry, but the exams are manageable if you keep up with the textbook. unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside the course materials.
Best 2 of 3 Exams scores used to calculate the final grade. Critical Thinking Exercises - CTEs (quizzes) 4 total - 2 sort of not terribly tough 2 very easy. He converted the Exams to be out of less points so you get a higher grade. Hardly any work. All open book. Easiest A ever, but if you want to learn it's all on you to do the work.
