Prof. Hancock was genuinely interested in his students. He has a love of the subject he teaches. He's dedicated to helping the entire class learn the material. While some work was necessary, after all it is a college course, it was the best biology class I have ever taken.
Teacher was interested in teaching his students but because he is unexperienced he gets frustated easily. Hopefully that changes in the future. This teacher wants you to pass the class and often puts very simple questions on the test. He also gives easy assignments to do. The downside to this is that some of them are not necessary.
Dr. Hancock hasn't been around long, but he's a great professor. Has 3 grading schemes, gives you best of 3 at end of course. Exams aren't too hard. He's very willing to help you, go to his office hours. Explains concepts well, makes class interesting. Quizzes every Friday, can work in groups. Iclicker questions every lecture, part of grade.
Hancock is a great guy! He had three grading schemes and gives you the best of three at the end of the semester. But he's new and doesnt know how to explain stuff very well in class...if you go into his office hours he's very helpful and you'll learn a lot. READ THE BOOK and see the TAs and you'll be fine!
I never read the book, but the online "Mastering Biology" was the most helpful thing to learn from. Professor Hancock isn't as hard as other PDBIO-120 teachers, and he actually came to our study group in the library to help us. I never used the book, but make sure to understand all the quizzes because that will help on the tests
Dr. Hancock is a nice guy, and I love his 3 possible grading schemes. But over all as a professor he really isn't all that great. He continually mixes up important words and commonly doesn't understand students questions. Also he has a very difficult time writing quiz/test questions and obviously barley/never reviews his test once submits them.
Professor Hancock is one of my favorite professors. He's really funny and willing to work with you. You can tell that he really wants you to understand what you are learning. He is new, but is working his best to be a good professor.
Dr. Hancock really enjoys teaching. I could tell because he took the time to learn everyone's name in the class of over 100 people. A good part to this is that he is able to write excellent letters of recommendation for med school because he gets to know his students. He is very helpful if you go see him.
Dr. Hancock was extremely helpful, and you can tell he likes what he does. Lectures were interesting, and he's willing to help anyone with anything. Class discussion before submitting iclicker questions is common, and he has 3 different grading scales, whichever one gives you the highest grade is the grade you get.
Dr. Hancock is interested in helping his students learn. Though new, he is figuring things out and doing a good job.
I enjoy the class and learn quite a bit. Once he understands that you have no idea of what he's talking about, he'll dumb it down even more for you and works great. He has a few useless assignments... You know the type, where he wants you to apply his class to your world... Ugh. But other than that, he's great.
Really great professor. Sometimes class is challenging but he tries really hard to make the concepts understandable. He gave us sub-zero ice cream in class!
Way great class. Had a bunch of reviews at Sub-Zero. Hard class, but well worth it! Highly Recommended.
Hancock is great. He took time to explain concepts that we didn't understand, even though we got behind and he didn't teach everything he'd wanted to. The TAs are wonderful also, the most helpful I've ever had. I found that it really helped to do the reading before class, however - which isn't too much (reading). Otherwise it can get confusing.
Brother Hancock is great. It's obvious he really cares about his students. He memorizes names! pretty tough class for a GE, but he's such a good guy it's hard to complain.
He really loves teaching and provided many opportunities to get help. His tests were easy if you study the material. He provides slides, a study guide that is really helpful. I used the text book mostly just to take the online quizzes. He's really nice. If you don't understand something, just ask him to explain it better and he will!
He really tries to make the lectures apply. He even brought guest speakers in to make the class fun engaging.
He really tries to engage the students and make it interesting.
I LOVED this class. Dr. Hancock is awesome-way nice and the most approachable professor Ive ever had at BYU. Go to his reviews on friday mornings and his test reviews and you will ace this class.
He makes this GE class great. His lectures are clear and really works to help the class be prepared for tests. Awesome grading scale. Very interested in seeing students succeed. All around great teacher and would recommend his class to anyone needing to take BIO 100. Learn more from lectures and MasteringBiology than textbook.
I really liked the subject matter but the lectures were really dull. Professor Hancock reads the info right off the slides. The tests are difficult only because it's hard to pay attention in class. The assignments and in class quizzes are easy points. Nice professor, but terribly boring.
Prof. Hancock is friendly but he is not clear with his explanations and he will not let you know at all what is going to be on tests. He just says,"What we went over in class and in the text." I asked several times for help on certain things and he doesnt help. He also gets offended when the TA's suggest he simplifies/clarifies things. Don't take it
Really great professor! He knew we weren't interested in biology, so he did his best to make it appealing to us. Not a lot of class work, weekly online quizzes to go with the textbook, but I never used it. Uses iclicker for attendance. TA's make studying for the exams a cinch. Really loves his students and makes the class great.
Dr. Hancock was great, he really made this an interesting GE class. He also really cares about his students.
Is a wonderful teacher for a GE class. Makes it simple and easy to understand. I never really used the textbook, but it's helpful for the online assignments. TAs really help you study for exams. Take it from him, he really cares about his students.
If you want an easy GE class, then this class is NOT for you. Besides 3 midterms, and a final, you have to write a 4 page paper (for Bio? Yes.. for Bio), attend outside lectures and write summaries, Connect homework almost every week, in class quizzes, and iClicker questions every class. Do yourself a favor and pick another professor.
Professor Hancock is a nice guy but not a great teacher. He is hard to follow and his assignments are way harder than the average 2 credit class. He even says on the first day that he treats this class like it's 3 credits. I was excited for this class at first but I have regretted taking it because it has just been so much work.
In the long run all of the work is worth it, b/c you learn so much, but Hancock has a really hard time being clear so you're getting all these details but don't quite know what they're for. He lacks giving the big picture. Spend time with the T.A's and I promise you'll still do fine (B or A status) in the class. Also be prepared for random quizzes.
I did NOT want to take this class, but actually ended up learning a lot. I never liked it, but I learned a lot. The TAs are fantastic and the reviews helped me score an A- on every midterm. Projects are tedious but doable.
This was a great class for a GE class. I do not like bio at all, but Prof Hancock made it bearable and even fun at times! The class is very organized, which I like. There are some essays and larger assignments, but they are not hard as long as you don't procrastinate them. They help you delve down into a topic of bio that is interesting to you.
This class is probably fine if you're interested in Biology. The teacher is nice and knowledgeable, but man! there's way too much work to just have a decent grade. 3 midterms + final, in class quizzes, iClicker questions, papers, additional books to read and write summaries, long online homework almost every day... etc etc etc.
I love the subject sports nutrition but this class was takes up with a lot of your time for a two credit course. I would recommend getting help from the TA's in this class. They are very helpful if you want to learn and succeed in the course. Dr. Hancock expects you to work hard in this class and you better be prepared for it.
Dr. Hancock was so great! Interesting lectures that made dry material learnable, cared for students, tried to help everyone succeed. He had a reasonable workload and I left the class feeling like I had been taught well. Awesome teacher!
Dr. Hancock runs an excellent class. He is very nice and considerate. He gives early notice of exams and quiz's. He tests fairly. He cares about students. All round great experience
Absolutely awesome. Enjoyed the class, will change my major. Not only was he helpful and knowledgeable- he was clear and concise. Really helped my learning experience. Hope to take many more classes from him.
He is my FAVORITE professor I've had! So helpful, genuine, and straightforward. He really wants everyone to succeed and he will curve tests & provide opportunities to get points back. DON'T buy the textbook - just go to class and go to the TA reviews & you'll get an A.
Dr. Hancock is one of the nicest professors! He did his best to make the content interesting and is passionate about the material. He often did a poor job defining key terms. Tests and quizzes are moderately difficult.
One of the worst classes I've taken at BYU. Lectures are long and boring and he doesn't really go out of his way to make sure you understand the content. He just spouts out information. The test are extremely hard as well and failed a few midterms. The good thing though is he weighs your grade based on if you're better at tests or homework.
This man made Biology exciting for me! I actually understood what was going on! The homework really helped me understand some concepts I didn't quite catch in class. He usually hadsomething fun or interesting planned. Safe environment to ask questions. Tests are fair -you get out what you put in. Handled evolution well. Loved it!
Bro Hancock is a great man, but a less great teacher. Super informative, but I found myself lost in many lectures, trying to grasp the point of it. The tests had material that was skimmed over or omitted in class, so I did a lot of my learning outside class on my own. He has a fair grading scale, but if you can take it from someone else, I would.
Dr. Hancock is the best! He's very understanding of students' needs & is great at explaining tough concepts. Of course, you have to attend class to do well (some of these Bio 100 dummies who gave bad reviews probably just skipped class, didn't want to do any work & then blamed their poor grades on the professor). Would definitely recommend him!
Professor Hancock is a really fun professor. Lectures were both informative and entertaining. He seems to love teaching and really cares about his students. Homework is not to hard and if you attend lectures and do minimal studying tests are easy.
You can tell the Dr. Hancock knows his stuff and really enjoys his subject. He is not very good at explaining the topics in class. It is a 2 credit class with a 3 credit workload. Attendance is mandatory, but even then, some topics can be tough to get. Lectures on some things that really don't matter.
For a 2 credit class this class was too hard and had too much work. There is at least one assignment every week, and about 15 essay questions on exams. Getting a good grade is possible, you just have to work hard for it. Quizzes in class unannounced so make sure you attend.
Don't take a class from this man if you can help it. He is very unclear about the material you need to know for tests. During class he will have slides up but he will lecture from the study guide so it is difficult to follow along. Has no concrete syllabus. one of the top 2 worst experiences in a class room and it isn't number 2.
Prof Hancock was very caring and kind to everyone. He tried his best, and I could tell. He was a fair grader as well. He was just incredibly boring to listen to. I fell asleep in class multiple times. He didn't do a great job at making the material interesting or memorable. The class felt a bit disorganized as well. Good guy though.
Class used to be called sports nutrition, but because he didn't teach about nutrition he had to change the course title. He teaches this class as if it were some weird combination of exercise physiology and nutrition, neither topic is covered in depth but he wants you to know both for tests. TA's are nit-picky when grading, don't take if if you can
Professor Hancock treats this 2 credit class like a 3 credit class. It's a lot of work and takes a lot of time. There are in class pop quizzes, online quizzes, and a few other big assignments. The tests are long and hard. If you don't need to take this class don't.
The tests in this class were so long, and more difficult than a 2 credit class should be. There was a lot of reading, a lot of pop quizzes, and a lot of things talked about in class that aren't even on the tests. I'm a senior at BYU, and this was definitely one of the worst classes/professors I've had. Avoid this if you can!
Don't take this class if you can help it. It's a rough class, and should be more than 2 credits. The teacher is also not very helpful in class. He's a good guy, I'm sure. But his class has a lot of material for a 2 credit class. You may as well take a 3 credit class if you're thinking about taking this one.
Maybe it's just because I had his class at 8am, but I didn't really like his teaching style. Lectures always felt rushed. He is a great person, just not the greatest teacher. But I did learn a lot from this class & I will take the info I learned for the rest of my life.
To me, this class was more of a physiology class than it was a "sports nutrition" class. The teacher is not good. You have to go to class in order to pass the quizzes, but then again, classes don't even benefit you for the test as much as just reading the textbook on your own. I would never take this class if I had known. Avoid if you can.
Honestly awful!!!! He is a nice guy.. but the class is just not fair. He takes off points on every little mistake. There were like 2 assignments that 1 person got full credit on. The TA does all the work so go to her for help. Tests aren't that hard if you read the study guide and memorize. He thinks that he is right about everything. 2 As total..
Dr. Hancock is a genuininely very caring person. He is so nice and willing to help his students succeed. He makes jokes in class which keeps it exciting and enjoyable. He's also very knowledgeable in nutrition and biochemistry. I recommend this class to everyone, and I find everything I learned to be so applicable and useful in my other classes.
Solid teacher. Super interesting topic and he does a really good job at explaining the more complex topics. Loved this class. He also made this really nice study guide that goes over everything we learn so you don't have to purchase a crazy expensive textbook.
Professor Hancock definitely knows what he's talking about. He seems very knowledgeable in his area, though his teaching method is very unorganized. There were concepts on tests that were not on the study guide. He dove right into the biology of nutrition without any precursor, and especially as this is an intro class it left us very confused.
You don't need anything from the lecture to do well on the exam, you just need to go over the study guide, but you have to show up because he gives out random quizzes. It's an exercise nutrition class, but you really don't spend much time learning about exercise nutrition, he makes it a biochemistry class.
He seems like a great guy! Yet, his lectures were all over the place. He requires lots of reading and random quizzes. His study guides are NOTHING like the tests. Highly recommend searching for a different professor.
Prof Hancock is knowledgable, but very dry. Lectures felt very long, and he often went off on tangents that did not apply to class material. Hard to stay awake. Tests are not impossible, but surprisingly more difficult than expected. Papers take longer than you think, so start them early. Overall, an okay experience, but definitely not the best.
His power points have 0 information on them so it is impossible to study from those. this class is easy, but just hard enough to not get an a if you slack. TA's were very helpful, but never spoke to him. Tests were slightly challenging even if you knew most of the information and felt prepared.
Wouldn't really recommend Mr. Chad Hancock. His lectures are very hard to follow. He provides no information on the slides, so you can't rely on those to study. His study guides aren't specific either. He gets off on tangents and talks about things that aren't applicable to the tests and does it all while with a monotone voice.
I liked hancock as a person, and he thought he was really funny, so if you take him, make sure to laugh at his jokes haha, but the class was so much harder than i was expecting a beginning level nutrition class (it was actually ndfs 100) to be, but that might be for all teachers. just get ready to study really hard for all his tests.
Best professor I've had! He is funny, cares about his students, his lectures are really engaging. It wasn't an easy A, but the class was so enjoyable. The textbook is online and you need it to complete the weekly reading quizzes. As long as you go to class, take notes and actually study, you will do well. He wants you to succeed. Will work with you
During this semester you'll have to force yourself to appreciate dad jokes if you don't already. He is a nice guy who sometimes doesn't explain things the best. But his study guide is an amazing resource that has all you need on it if you pay attention in class.
This is not an easy class and Dr. Hancock didn't make it easier. If you don't pay attention in lectures you won't do good on tests. His lectures are pretty boring and his slides lack the information needed, he'll say it once and you have to write it down because it will be on the test. Super nice guy and I like him as a person but hard class.
He thinks he is funny and distracts himself from the lecture often. There are long textbook assignments that don't line up with information on the test. He has a giant study guide that teaches you more than he ever will, but some of the random things he mentions in class that don't seem important end up on the test after only being mentioned once.
hancock's class was good. he had a tendency to overload us with info and not be 100% clear, but his class was really fun (he tells jokes lol) and I loved how actually use the info we learned was. It's a pretty normal amount of work and the tests are manageable if you prep. TAKE IN CLASS NOTES, use his review stuff in modules, don't skip review days
Brother Hancock is super funny however I did not particularly love the length of the lectures and the homework. In addition it was a little frustrating that the class used a different program than learning suite just because it made finding information more difficult than it needed to be. Tests were very difficult but he is a great person
Pay attention to lectures and do the homework and you will be fine. You might think he is just really weird at the beginning but really he is just a king at dad jokes.
Not a good teacher. Tests are hard. He thinks he is funny and no one laughs so he asks everyone to fake chuckle. AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS. You could just as easily read the textbook and get the same information. He is smart but doesn't know how to present information in a student-friendly way.
Do NOT take this class. If youre doing generals, just take Biology instead. If you have to take Nutrition for your major, take it from a different professor. I hated this course with every fiber of my being. Never went to class, just taught myself online. Unnecessarily hard, lots of awkward attempts at jokes during lectures. Miserable. Stay away.
Amazing professor. I took NDFS as a physics major and I thought it would be really boring but he made it enjoyable and he is just really great about explaining things and he cares for the students. Just take good notes and study for the exams and you will be fine
Professor Hancock is incredible. All the negative reviews on here make me so sad because he was the best professor I've had in a while. He knows so, so much and makes the lectures very interesting. His class is extremely enjoyable. He is hilarious. Best teacher ever honestly. I wish that I could take the class again, I just loved it so much.
Chad is a great professor! He really cares about his students and tries to make class fun with lots of dad jokes. He is so funny! It makes me sad to see all these negative comments because I truly enjoyed his class. I would definitely take him again as a teacher!
Chad's fine, no issue there. Two issues with the way this class is taught at BYU: 1. The answer is ALWAYS losing weight. No body shaming perhaps, but guilting. 2. It's literally straight memorization of useless info. I have no idea what I'm supposed to take out of this class long term.
Professor Hancock definitely has an acquired sense of humor, but my friend and I loved taking this class with him. His awkward dad jokes kept us laughing the whole lecture. This class was more intense than I was expecting at first, but it wasn't bad. The exams also are not bad as long as you study.
CHAD IS THE BEST! He is so freaking funny. We all loved him. Great teacher, really knows what he's talking about. I honestly have no clue why he has so many negative reviews because he's just amazing. Stay attentive to what he says because that is where most of the material comes fromTests can be pretty hard. Textbook can help you with the quizzes.
This class is so easy and little work--until the exams. The exams are literally impossible. While I loved Prof Hancock's lectures and felt I was learning a ton, he did not prepare us well for the tests. There were very few assignments that were graded and the TAs graded them so harshly.
Buy the study guide and you will be just fine - it will hold your hand the entire semester - Dr. Hancock uses it to guide his lectures. He gives great dad jokes to keep class upbeat. Make sure to read ahead in the study guide for weekly pop-quizzes. Everything on tests is in the study guide. Super manageable hw/assignments. Loved the class!
The class was enjoyable and the Professor had high-quality dad humor. Homework was easy but the tests were a bit hard! No grade curve. Take careful notes using his study guide.
This class was tough. An A is totally doable if you put in the work, but being a senior, I couldn't bring myself to it. This class required the most time and attention from me than any of my other classes. There are quizzes, a semester long project, and the tests are difficult. Brother Hancock was ok, I appreciated his dad jokes.
Go to class, take notes, pay attention, do the study guide (and study off of the study guide) and you will do just fine. I didn't put a ton of effort into the class and I did well. He's a funny and entertaining teacher. Sometimes lectures are boring, but he makes lots of dad jokes. Roll with his humor and you'll be just fine.
Overall not a horrible class. The material for the class is extremely difficult but that just comes along with the subject. The study guide will be your best friend for all tests and lectures. In order to get an A in this class, you need to know the entire study guide (around 100 pages) like the back of your hand. Lectures are engaging.
Professor Hancock is a nice guy but his lectures are super long and aren't super engaging. He covers some different material in his lectures that contrast to the textbook material, but if you study the online chapter quizzes/reviews you'll do great on the exams.
I was not interested in this class. It's pretty boring if it's not what you're passionate about. It's fairly easy but requires a decent bit of memorization. Dr. Hancock does a good job explaining what is going to be on the tests, and he really does his best to make it interesting. It isn't a bad class, just kind of boring.
Really nice guy, not my favorite prof. Lecture is bland but he tries to be funny and throw in some good dad jokes. Homework/quizzes are SUPER easy, tests can be tricky (very "all the answers are correct but which is the most correct") so you've got to study thoroughly if you want to do well. Overall, easy class, but didn't get a lot out of it.
Dr. Hancock tries hard to be really funny, and sometimes it works. His lectures are very helpful for the tests. His tests all have extremely helpful study guides that pretty much guarantee you to do well on the test if you know them. Projects were very easy and helped out my grade a lot!
The tests are so specific, but the material is fun to learn.
Prof. Hancock is a good professor, he sidetracks sometimes and he has dad humor. He really makes sure you know what to study for finals but it could be a little bit more into depth. Online quizzes are easy and so are the projects.
Dr. Hancock is great! He is so funny and his lectures will definitely keep you engaged. Even though sometimes the content is not the most interesting, he teaches it in a way that makes sense and adds his testimony in a way that inspires and brings the Spirit. Definitely recommend!
Pro. Hancock was a nice, funny guy. He always talked briefly about the devotionals which I really liked. He gave participation points for attendance, but I found it hard to be motivated to attend when I knew I could read the textbook on my own and do fine on tests/quizzes. Class was easy as long you followed his study guides while reading the text.
I took this class as a general education requirement because I was interested in nutrition! I really liked professor hancock...the projects boosted my grade and he made good study guides for the exams! The only thing is, this course requires a lot of memorization...you really have to know EVERYTHING so be prepared for the midterms and final.
Great professor! Not my best class but I loved his lectures. He is funny and even if the info was boring he found a way to make it more interesting. Class is moderately hard; it just requires a lot of memorization, which I am not good at. He has amazing test guides and will do test reviews in class, which was very helpful.
I really enjoyed this class. It was super interesting! Dr. Hancock really cares, will explain things multiple times if needed, and he is an entertaining teacher. The tests were totally fair (just study right from the study guide) and the assignments were well defined. I would recommend!
The study guides for the exams are great! Filling them out as your notes in class makes studying easy. Get ready for textbook readings and quizzes.
Great guy! Fun lectures! Lots of quizzes but they aren't worth a lot of points compared to the exams. The slides often don't have the info on them so you have to be in class to take notes or read the book. Quizzes are through the book. If you miss class, you can read the book chapter and you'll be fine. Study guide is super helpful. Great class!
Classes feel long, but he has a good sense of humor. Slides are posted, but a lot of what he says is not on the slides, so go. The exams are long but pretty straight forward. None of the questions are there to trick you, so if you study you will know them. Read the textbook and fill out study guide as your notes when reading and in class. Nice TAs
This professor is just not the best for nutrition. He was very vague on many things and you have to do SOO much work outside of class just to understand what he is talking about in class. Take from a different professor.
Professor Hancock is an amazing man and clearly is passionate about his content and all things health related. However, he was so excited about content he get carried away and talk for so long you can't take in any information. Super sweet dude but a lot of content and quizzes for GE.
I have never spent so much time studying for a class. He will give pop quizzes which contribute quite a bit to your grade. Exams are hard and long. He is very passionate about the topic and will go off on tangents often. You don't have access to his slides, he refers you to the study guide. He is hard to reach out of class and doesn't do zoom.
This class is hard. Professor is a great guy! However, I often felt like we didn't cover all of the material when it came down to tests. Tests were abnormally hard. TAs were absolutely no help. It was my only class where TAs didn't hold any reviews the entire semester. Got a better grade in anatomy which says a lot.
This class is a lot harder then it looks. The only problem was that the study guide never helped with the tests and that was what really brought down my grade. It's only projects, quizzes, and tests and the projects would never get 100%. Don't take unless you have to. If you have to don't take it from this teacher.
I thought this class was difficult for an introductory class. All exams were 80 + questions. I found it hard to study for exams due to the amount of information needed to understand to apply to test questions. I found it was easier just to read from the textbook and talk to people from other nutrition classes.
Class was not an easy A but certainly attainable with effort. Although attendance was not mandatory, going to class plus READING the textbook helped me get good grades on tests.
oh my gosh, this class was awful. professor hancock is nice, but he's so boring. and the class is super lecture-heavy but his lectures are not good at all. the class is like ALL exams, and the exams are SOO hard. there's 4 exams, and none are curved. there are only a couple of assignments aside from the exams. go to ta labs!!
Very passive professor and is kind of a pushover. Lectures were boring but he did pull out some great dad jokes. Content is not difficult but tests are mostly memorization.
I loved Professor Hancock! He gave great lectures that made me want to go to class at 9:30 a.m. The homework load was light and tests were reasonable. Lots of content to study for but he and his TAs were very helpful. Get ready to study, but overall a great class. Definitely take it from him!
I LOVE PROFESSOR HANCOCK! He taught so well and made it easy to understand the material. If you go to class, take notes, and review your notes (before tests) you will do fantastic!
great professor and you always knew what you would be tested on. clear cut. the one thing i'll say is that you def do NOT need to purchase the packet. you literally use it like once in class and even then he posts what you need online, so save the like $20 or something haha. He's very helpful and kind!
This class was a breeze, and professor hancock is a DAWG! He's funny, and knows what he's talking about. The tests are easy, and so are the occasional projects. I learned a ton in this class, and professor hancock and I still say hi when we see each other. Take NDFS 100 from this guy, you won't regret it.
I hadn't taken a nutrition or chemistry class in years, so this class was a little challenging for me, but not awful. Chad really cares about making sure you understand. Make sure to use the "study guide" pamphlet.
Dr. Hancock is nice and fair. He wants you to do well. Class isn't super hard but does require some effort and studying. I would highly recommend consistent attendance.
Dr Hancock is awesome. I have taken 2 classes with him. He is an effective teacher and sets clear expectations for the class.
Professor Hancock is a hilarious guy, and his lectures are always great, but this class is hard! There is lots of memorization, so make sure to pay really good attention and take good notes. Also, there is a lot of reading every week, so be aware of that.
Dr. Hancock is easily my favorite professor at BYU. He has awesome dad jokes like none other but seriously makes learning so enjoyable! He prepares you so well for your exams and helps you see that nutrition is not just what you "can and cant" eat rather what will fuel your body and help you feel good.
He is a great teacher, and he genuinely cares about his students. The class was fun, and I would for sure recommend, the tests are long but that means you have more room to get ones wrong. Overall take this class you won't regret it.
Professor Hancock is a nice guy, but his lectures are pretty slow. The tests make up the majority of your grade in the class, which is intimidating, but the tests are pretty easy as long as you follow the learning objectives.
This class was very interesting and Professor Hancock is super knowledgable. I thought lectures were enjoyable, but there was a lot of memorization for this class. The tests were at least 90 multiple choice and a lot of it was you either memorized a tiny detail or you had no idea. He's also not the most approachable guy
Overall this is a really good class if you spend some time studying and pay attention in the lectures. There is textbook readings each week, but they aren't absolutely necessary to be able to pass the class. Dr. Hancock was clear when it came to lectures and assignments.
Professor Hancock runs a straightforward class. The content can be challenging, but attending lectures and using resources like Unstuck ai make it manageable. Definitely worth taking if you're willing to put in the work.
Professor Hancock tries to be a funny and good guy, until he actually has to do his job. His lectures are hard to understand because he know so much about the topic, but not actually on stuff that is need for the test and his study guides aren't helpful either due to then not really having any metier you actually need. he is also hard to talk to.
His slides don't have a ton of info so that makes studying outside of class hard. He talks super slow and loves to share information that isn't relevant to the lesson. He's frankly boring so the entire lecture hall talks over him. More importantly, though, he is incredibly unorganized, navigating his Canvas sucks and the HW wording is confusing
I was worried about taking this class but it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected! Dr. Hancock is very fun and personable, if you do the Guided Readings and take notes you'll be fine. I was usually able to work on assignments during class. When I went to his office hours he was so helpful in going over my test with me and even gave me points back.
He is a really nice person just not the best teacher. His lectures were hard to follow and boring but pay attention and take notes because there aren't a ton of other good resources to study from. Do the guided readings and have good study groups with people and you'll be fine!
This class was pretty tough as most your grade is determined by your test scores. The lectures were alright, but the slideshows are available online if you miss something he said in class. There's no extra credit available, but the assignments are straightforward and it's not too much outside work. I mainly just spent time studying for the tests.
I felt the need to get on here and give this professor the review he deserves. Dr. Hancock was an awesome professor! This guy seriously lit up my days in class. He's funny and he really cares about us as students and does his best to get to know us even though it's a big class. If you do the guided reading and take notes in class you will do fine.
Chad was such a nice guy. He went over all of his slides in class and gave good explanations. The test were a little harder because it is more application of what you learn in the class. Go talk to the TA's if you aren't understanding something and write notes.
I really liked Professor Hancock, he has really fun lectures and learns the name of as many students as he can. He also goes over everything on the exams in class so play attention to lectures and you will do great.
