Questions for the exam came straight from the textbook. His lectures are pretty interesting.
he makes it pretty easy. Exams come from textbook.
I had him for Econ 1B. I did very little reading for this class. The class is based on the textbook. Do you need to pay attention to the problems he works on the broad. Test is based on the textbook with emphasis on the lecture. Easy A
I had him for saturday class. He makes things very easy. You could do well if you at least read the textbook. The test is based on the textbook. Easy A
i have to disagree to all this good ratings on this professor. he is crystal clear on lectures but his test are super hard. he has 3 sets of test trough out the semester and if you do not pass one of them you have a very slim chance of passing the class. cumulative type of test and its 50 multiple choice queestions.. NO EXTRA CREDIT! his test cover
HARD QUIZZES CLEAR LECTURES
He is willing to help you if you show him your effort. Great teacher! If you go to class and do your work you will get an 'A'
His class is not easy, if you wanna easy A, it not a good choice. Only 3 tests, no homework but tests are very hard...
Chad is awesome, really helpful in econ. He use his own word and real example to make you understand in lecture. I learned so much about economics, test kinda easy, if you put effort on it. Remember just put effort in it, you will be fine. He gave me a lot of opportunity, I would say too much of opportunity.
The best Econ Prof. in PCC. Prof. Lue do care about his students. He used real examples relate to the world. Also he made the book materials crystal clear. He told you exactly what will be on the tests. 2 mid-term 50 questions each, and 100 questions final exam.
Chad is the greatest professor at PCC. He relates with students and looks like a student. He is a character. Tests could be hard if you don't study. He's so good I took him twice. WSUP CHAD!!! We should blaze!!!! Not an easy A!!!
This class is very hard and you need to study. I took him over the summer and it was compressed with a lot of information. He does help out when you ask for it and believe me I recommend him over the other professors. Not an easy 'A'
I would disappointed by his work ethic. If you are not interested in taking an active role as a professor, especially at a community college, then you should not be teaching. I was disappointed by the way he took action on certain things. I would not recommend him. Nice guy on a personal level.
I just can't learn nothing from him! worst class ever!! not recommend:( only 3 tests, harder harder and harder
Horrible!does not know how to teach. Never makes eye contact w/students,looks at the floor when lecturing, goes off topic, does NOT explain anything clearly, seems as if it's hard for him to get his words out,Very hard to learn anything in his class.U R better off reading the BK & teaching yourself. Honestly don't take his class, you won't learn!!!
I agree with the previous comment! Don't take his class you will be very disappointed. He must know someone at PCC that's why he is teaching thr!
Do not take this class with this professor, he does not know how to teach. His test are very hard but it's becasue he doesn't know how to lecture. If I wld have seen the prior comments to starting the fall sememster wld not have tkn this class. He needs to stick with his day job. Nice guy bad teaching Techniques!!
He is a the best teacher I ever had in PCC. He cares about students. You have to study though. He doesn't give you an easy A but if you are willing to learn he will even stay late to teach you. Very has a very good quality as a teacher. It was a great class to build strong foundation for my future Econ classes.
I think his class is like other college courses. Work is required. If you are going to treat his class like one of your high school classes and not put your brain cells to work, You will fail miserably:).
This is not an easy class, you have to read the book, do the practice, to get a good grade. He finishes his lecture in 40 minutes and lets us go home.
i disagree the last two comment because he does help to answer the question after the class if you ask him. i think you didn't ask the question.
Trust me I've taken ALL of the TOP rated econ profs. at PCC and this is the best one. When I first decided to take his class I didn't know who he was and I thought it was gonna be another fail like the other econ profs. but man was I wrong! Very chill and doesn't stress u with massive work. If u don't pass, there is something wrong with U not HIM.
he is a nice guy.
i'm sorry to say so u guys, he is a useless prof because he doesn't teach u what you really need. telling students that they don't need to pass tests are fine to be sucessed is not a way that a teacher usually tells their students. if u want to get a easy A and one unrepectful teacher, he is right here in PCC
I think he is the best econ professor in the PCC, you should take his class, he really helpful, and very patient to help you solve problem,i disagree others comments to say he is useless, because we are in the college, we should review our textbook after finish the lecture.Lue is really good teacher,so take him....
I don't know why Chad was rated so low in the past.I took him for the spring on Tuesday nights, gotta say nicest guy I met, he likes his students to participate,When you do he keeps records and helps you out latter towards your grade. I thought I was going to get a c or D but he gave me a B he is very good I learned a lot. Good Prof.
Mr Chad is a baller! he is very nice and he wants to help all his student get a good grade. Highly recommended econ prof i would say and he is very very chill. Sadly when i took his class it was during NBA finals, but mr lue was SO chill and rushed everyone out well kinda. Awesome teach
SUCK.
His class is easier in PCC, and he is very nice guy for every student. I take his class this semester. Mostly, I think I can get A at the end of his class. Only four tests include final. Every test is easy. You can easy get A, or at least B.
There are four exams, no homework. So basically your grade is based on the test. But he curves.. An A in class is a 85% and so on a C is a 54% so you really have to be dum to flunk. Even he says it. He is a really chill guy always lets us out like an hour early.
I hate Economics but I loved his class!! He is such a nice peron with a good sense of humor!
Prof. Lue is really amazing, helpful and generous grading instructor. I took his short term class, pretty easy and a lot of extra credits. He reviews question a day prior to test, so students know what they need to study for. 85% is A; attendance is not mandatory and let us out at least one hour ahead. Love this class Thank you, Prof. Lue.
Uses everyday life examples to apply economic principles, reviews questions on test to help with studying, Great sense of humor and generous grading system. Wish he would teach Econ 1B
Take his class. It is super-easy. He is sooooo generous, and nice professor. There is no homework, no paper. Just read the textbook then you will get definitely A!!!!
Lectures by just reading off powerpoint. Exams do not even correspond to powerpoint or chapters in the book. Doesn't care about students. Texts and calls during class and plays candy crush. Do not take his class, you will regret it.
In my opinion, Lue is a great professor. The people that complain are usually slackers and people who don't give a f. There's no reason you shouldn't be getting at least a B in the class. He gives extra credit AND curves. Econ is a hard subject itself, so don't expect an easy A. As long as you read the book, review his notes and PPT, you'' be fine.
He's not good at being a teacher since working at pcc is just his parttime job. As long as you read the book, you will be fine on the \tests. He gives tons of extra credits btw. f you are not hard working i dont recommend him.
Prof. Lue went to PCC and was a student of Dr. Kim. Lue tells funny jokes. very laid-back. NO HW. 4 Tests all based from the book. His lectures are helpful if you've read the chapters. If you study, you will at least get a B. Willing to talk about career choices, and help out! Nice guy!! Gives EC.
Exam does correspond to the powerpoint, but you have to understand the points in the powerpoint. The powerpoint is just like an outline for you to study. His lecture is very easy to understand and apply!Id you get a low grade, it is because of YOU, not because of the teacher!
Professor Lue is an awesome professor. I wish he taught Econ 1B! Econ is a challenging subject, but Professor Lue is extremely helpful if you ask questions and go to his office hours. Great professor and I highly recommend him if you are an Econ or Business major.
Professor Lue is an overall great professor. He curves every test making it a fairly easy class. Make sure you read the book because some of the questions on the test are not from the lecture but from the book. I wish he taught 1B because he's teaches very clearly . Overall not a difficult class.
Good professor who applies his lectures to real-life examples. He usually tells you whats on the test before-hand so everyone should get a good grade. Wish he taught 1b but take him while you can.
Not a helpful professor. Just reading off PowerPoint and giving unclear examples. Tests are multiple choice and sometimes it's hard because he never talks about that topic. Many times he rushes through the class and let us go very early. No homework, no quizzes, no practice or study guide before exam. Not recommend for people who r in econ major.
If you want a good grade, don't take the saturday class. It's clear he doesn't want to be there and his main goal is leaving asap (he's usually the first one out the door.) Bc he gives no hw, your grade is pretty much based on your tests which can be hard bc he doesn't go over most material. Dont get me wrong he's a cool guy and can be pretty funny
Good guy, but not a good professor. If you ask for help he will try his best to help you understand but its not clear enough. No homework, no studyguide, reads off a powerpoint. Tests are multiple choice but its difficult. Drops lowest grade and curves. If you have no problem teaching yourself, then take the class.
Economics is a hard subject and the professor made it even more difficult . Would not recommend his class.
I took econ 1A in summer with Mr. Lue. Overall, it was average, as far as easiness goes. He doesn't give out any hw, just tests. He does curve but someone kept getting 100% people got screwed. Tests are somewhat difficult but they're doable if you read the book. Gives good notes, write them down. Got a C without trying.
Seems like he doesn't care sometimes but I'm positive he does. Smart guy overall, and can teach you a lot about economicscollegelife if you choose to listen. Does not like grade grubbers (but who does come on). This is one of those you get what you give classes, so put in A effort get an A. etc but for the love of deity i wish people would talk
The worst teacher at pcc!!! geez, this person couldn't teach at all. AT ALL. he only read through the PPT and dismisses class like an hour early, an hour early for a class that meets only once a week. clearly, he doesn't care at all. this is his part time job, he moans about tired and wanting to go home. gave us tests that is extremely hard!!!
AVOID THIS TEACHER!!! AT ALL COST!!!!! taking him will be the biggest mistake in your life. i warned you! yeah he doesn't give HWs but homework is the part where you learn. he barely explains clearly, only reading through PPT. doesnt know how to teach, doesnt care, only care about the additional income. test are very different & extremely difficult
He lectures off ppt and gives no hw. Very intelligent guy but his tests are very hard. I used an older PDF and the LearnSmart program. Tests are all scantron except for final which has a couple written Qs. No extra credit but does curve tests. Mainly self-study course. You MUST take notes. Study off those and ppts. Don't miss the last review!
the worst teacher at pcc. he doesn't care about the students. he can't teach and gave super hard multiple choice test that he never explained before. its mainly self study.. coming to class was a waste of time since he only read off power points and dismissed us early anyways.. take him if you feel you're really good at econ otherwise, DON'T TAKE!!
I'm taking Professor Lue's Econ class right now for second term summer semester, and what a lot of people don't realize is macroeconomics is very much so you either understand it or you don't. He jokes around with the class and reads off the ppt, but also does plenty of problems on the board. He will tell you EXACTLY what is on the tests. So study.
Professor Lue is a great teacher. He really cares about his students because he teaches and turns a tough subject into something I can understand. The tests are easy as long as you listen to what he is saying and it doesn't hurt to read the book as well. The chapters are extremely long and redundant. Extra credit bonuses available.
Took him for Econ 1A in summer. He knows what he's talking about. Lectures with powerpoint slides. Places powerpoints online for you to download. Funny guy who knows his stuff. He made a really boring and difficult subject somewhat interesting. Tests are tough due to similar wording on answers.
Lectures were clear and easy to understand, examples were used along with humor. The professor would answer questions students would have. Simple class. Attend, listen, take notes, go over the study guide, take tests. Curves tests, no homework assigned, and the powerpoints are online though it's better to pay attention.
Don't take him if you're not good at econ or you can't do a self study because this professor only read what's on the power point and rushes through things quickly rather than explaining the concept. He always rants wanting to go home and dismisses us 1 hour early. I was a straight A student but this professor screw my GPA. Worst professor at PCC.
Lue was able to turn a hard subject into something manageable. He uses PPT and lectures for the class. Assigns HW, does HW problems in class to help you. Tests are a bit tough (MC). The subject is tough but he keeps in interesting. He has alot of stories related to his job/life/economics. Cool guy, would take him again for more ECON courses.
Hes one of the nicer professors Ive encountered as a student. His lessons are pretty straight forward and he always covers what you need to study for the tests. Pretty laid back but that doesnt mean the tests are going to be a walk in the park. From what I saw on the test average its usually in the high Bs. Just make sure you study.
Professor Lue is a great teacher. He teaches how he wants to teach and he uses a lot of examples that are reasonable for instance explaining allocation of resources using a story about a subway coupon. He is wiling to help out side of class. He does give hard tests that test whether or not you actually studied but he says what will be on the test.
Chad's a really cool guy, I wished I would have tried in this class I would have gotten an A.
TERRIBLE PROFESSOR. He doesn't give any homework, and rushes through the lectures fast. Doesn't explain things well enough to understand. If you have no idea how Economics works, then you won't do well in his class. Also doesn't tell you what is going to be on the exam.
He's not hot! Or funny--actually the most dull person Class: 3 test - 60 % final - 30% attendance - 10%. Final is not accumulative. No extra credit, no homework. Yes he does read from the powerpoint, but gives concise notes for the most part. Study those if you want a B/C. You will NEED to read the book to get an A. Test are medium difficulty IMO.
Professor Lue is not the best professor. He openly stated on the first day of class back in Fall of 2015, that he did not really want to be teaching for the class, but did so for the paycheck. Very boring lecturer, and dismal class environment. You can pass as long as you read, but I would highly suggest another individual.
He curves every test. Each test, the highest score will be used as the full mark. I get an A because I am an economic major student and I studied economic before. Would not recommend to those who want an easy A. His tests and final are not easy, you need to understand the knowledge behind.
You get graded on attendance (taken randomly) 10%, tests 60%, and the final 30%. Tests are curved based on the highest grade but the tests are hard. You don't get a chance to see the test again so you don't know what you did wrong. The class met once a week for about 2.5 hours and it shows. The dude is tired and wants to go home. Take econ elsewher
Chad lue is a chill/great professor. He engages a lot with his students and makes economics more understandable. It's already a hard subject and hands down you'll at least understand the content after he explains it in a way where its easy to understand. If you're lazy and just want to get economics out of the way, this is the professor to take.
He's not your typical professor. He is very honest and understands students' perspectives. Some people say he's not energetic enough, but he definitely knows his stuff. Your entire grade will depend on 4-5 tests but they are usually not that difficult as long as you pay attention. He basically tells you exactly what will be on exams the day before.
Worst professor Ive ever had. He does not teach at all. He comes to class unprepared and most of the time talks about his personal life and money problems. I self studied and spent double the time for his class. Dont take his class. You wont learn anything and wont pass it cause he doesnt care. Hes just there for the paycheck and he says it.
Go to class. Read the book. Take good notes. STUDY. STUDY. STUDY. Lectures are awesome! He's really funny! Really fun class. You will learn a lot and have fun. Not an easy class but worth it!
He is the laziest instructor I've had at PCC and that's saying something. He gives some lame excuse why there is no homework or EC work, but the truth is he doesn't want to to be bothered answering questions or checking it; or, in other words, teaching. He thinks all he is paid to do is sloppily review the slideshows that come with the textbook.
Prof. Lue teaches slides only. Heavy reading and if you don't understand you will be on your own. Be ready for rude awakening. He is there for second job to get extra money. He is lazy, moody and unpredictable. He is awful and grades very difficulty.
Be ready to read the book in details. He only goes through dated slides that he skips. He gives boring life examples complaining. He preaches to be honest but... He is demanding when testing and grading. Though grader and tests are hard. No study guide or small quizzes and no assignments since he is lazy to correct the students work and to review.
He dropped the ball in trying to adapt to remote learning. He doesn't respond to e-mail, he's very lazy and it's obvious teaching is not his priority. We never knew where we stood all semester long and he got upset when we brought up our concerns. He was in denial that we wouldn't return to the classroom and didn't try. The tests are hard.
To get an A you need to study the book on your own. The textbook he uses is not the best. If you don't understand something, you are on your own. He does not respond to email. I love the subject and felt shortchanged. I took Jenni Kim for 1A and she was much better. Should have taken her, or anyone else for 1B.
I actually really enjoyed him! He is dry humored and pretty tired but loves economics. Uses slides and expects you to read the book. Understand the concepts!! Received an A in 1A and 1B, and honestly that experience was how every professor at CSUN is, so if your struggling with him, get help. Plenty of resources, including other students.
He does the absolute minimum. This was almost 100% self-study course. His lectures are very sloppy and will in no way prepare you for the test. I think my time would have been better spent reading the book than listening to him. You don't get to find out what you are supposed to know until the tests. He adopted poorly to online teaching.
Due to COVID-19, we had to switch from classroom instruction to online instruction and he was not able to adapt well. He claims to care about the students, but worried too much about students cheating that he ends up screwing the students up by changing the exams' weight and time limit. Made it almost impossible to finish the exam....
This prf. Opens his class by addressing all of his terrible reviews on this website, dont be fooled like I was. Not only is he condescending but at the end of the day he provides no extra study material so your going into tests blind, his power-points and lectures are terrible. Not even useful for studying you basically have to teach yourself.
I have to admit the subject isn't easy. You have to put in some work if you want to have a good grade. However, his lectures are easy to understand and expectations are clear.
I like the teaching style and I do understand why people struggle. He is most definitely helpful when needs.
I am a Business major and regret taking Lue's class. Econ is such an interesting and important topic. I wish I could retake it with someone who cares about his job and the students. Very low quality lectures, and no feedback or knowledge checks. The only reason I did well is because I read and reread the textbook until I 'got' it.
He's very accessible and will answer all your questions. However the lack of guided content and assignments makes it so you have 0 feedback and have no idea what you know/don't know until the exam. READ AND REREAD THE TEXTBOOK (lectures are meh .
Professor Lue is terrible. There no practice quiz because the actual test. You have to learn everything by yourself by reading the text book. Dont take his class. He addressed that he only here for the extra pay check and dont really care about his students success. Lecture is boring and he put bare minimum in his class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He does not respond to emails or messages. He doesn't say much about the textbook because he doesn't know much about it. When I asked what the chapters I should really focus on for the final he said “I don't know.” He doesn't use canvas for grading he uses a google sheet file, sometimes you can't even access it.
