Hes a great guy and teacher who takes political philosophy very seriously. His class isn that difficult as long as you pay attention. The only homework is reading with an extremely easy pop quiz in class just to make sure you read. His tests arent that difficult if youve paid attention.

My favorite professor of my bachelors experience. Funny, engaging, and knowledgable. A great mentor who really cares about his students. Be prepared to write multiple papers on complex theory/policy subjects, but he is willing to help throughout the process.

Lectures are so fun, fascinating, engaging, and informative. You learn a TON. There is one big group assignment toward the end of the class. The tests basically are your entire grade, so STUDY! Brother Newswander is easily one of the best lecturers you will find on the BYU-I campus. His lectures/class discussions will help you better understand the reading assignments. There are 2 essay exams, 2 papers, a few memos, and an oral presentation due throughout the semester, but they are not that bad. Amazing course and incredible professor.

This class is worth all the work given. He gives excellent advice and is willing to help every student out. The class discussions are very interesting and he enjoys hearing every opinion. There is a very simple tophat quiz every class period but they are very easy as long as you do the readings.

However, he challenges you in ways that inspire you to reach higher and expect more out of yourself. There is lots of reading and writing in his class but its worth the grind. There are a lot of readings for this class. Be sure to complete them so you can participate and answer the simple TopHat questions at the start of class. Chad Newswander is a professor that I will remember 50 years from now. Senior Seminar with him was a profound experience. You learn not only from Dr. Newswander but from your peers as well. I hated nothing more than when these class lectures would end as I knew Chad had many more things to say.

I've taken pretty much every class that professor Newswander offers, and they're all fantastic. He genuinely cares for you as a student and does his best to tailor his teaching and feedback to help you learn deeply. His classes require a LOT of reading and can be very hard at times, but it's definitely worth it, as you learn a lot. Would recommend.

Love Brother Newswander. Attendance is technically mandatory using daily quizzes, but you can miss up to 10 while still passing the class. This specific course is entirely made up of a personal project and a group project that happen at the same time. It can be really difficult, but Brother Newswander offers lots of help if you need it.

Brother Newswander's Intro to Public Policy class is awesome. You learn so much surrounding public policy. There is a lot of readings (court cases, speeches etc...), but if you do them you will have a stellar foundation in public policy discussions. It's a great class with great opportunities.

Judicial Branch with Brother Newswander was easily the best class I have ever taken! You will read a plethora of Supreme Court cases, and truly learn to understand the cases. You discuss hard topics in a productive way. If you want to have any idea what you are talking about regarding the Courts, this class with Bro Newswander is a must!

Newswander selects reading that will be impactful throughout one's life, and orients classes around his students' future decision-making. He is a great teacher because he really wants you to think for yourself. To prepare you for learning, he does prescribe a fair amount of reading. Though it may feel like a lot, put aside time to read and study and you'll be fine. He bases his class more discussion type, so being prepared to share what you think and why is a good way to participate.

Brother Newswander has the power to make an hour and a half class feel like ten minutes. He is a good lecturer who can lead a discussion well. However, be prepared to debate pop-culture related media for a good chunk of the class, Disney, Star Wars, etc. It elevates the class ONLY if you know the reference. Otherwise, its just confusing.
