DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN UNLESS YOU WANT TO STRESS JUST TO MAKE A B. i took him and taped his lectures, took extensive notes along with reading as much of the book that i was able to and barely passed with a B! He is very unclear on his exams and is LOUD!!! He teaches the class as if its your PHD major. Take someone else!
Yes, he is loud, but really cares about the subject. Went to him for help. Good guy both in and out of class
Professor Pearson's not that bad, he may be loud but he makes it very clear on what he wants you to know for your tests. Just makes sure you take notes and study the book. His exams are essay based, you have to answer an essay question and I believe about 15 Identities. Make sure to not have your phones or any electronic devices visible. Great Guy.
He is loud, no doubt about that, but it's because he is VERY passionate about history. His exams are essay and short-answer, but he gives a very thorough study guide out beforehand, and everything you need to know is on there. He's just a quirky guy who loves history and wants to teach it to his students. Just pay attention and use the reviews.
I found him to be an excellent teacher. Pearson is passionate & knowledgeable on the subjects he discusses in lectures. Textbook not mandatory on a class-to-class basis, but def helpful when studying for tests, which are all essay & ID questions. He is very fair. The loud comments are ridiculous. No sleeping or texting allowed. Highly recommend.
Prof. Pearson was decent. He is loud but it's more fun listening to his lecture. He is quick at changing power point slides and talking so take your notes fast. The textbook's not required but helpful for studying. He uses essay questions and I.D.'s for tests which allow a B/S factor instead of right or wrong answer. NO TEXTING. DON'T MISS CLASS.
Professor Pearson will give you a moderate workload. He makes lectures interesting and has a funny but sometimes cheesy sense of humor. He's very dynamic and encourages people to interact during class. In my class, he provided very thorough study guides before each test which was very helpful. I highly recommend Professor Pearson!
This guy is very confusing. First of all he is extremely against multiple choice and fill in the blank tests. Only essay questions. You have to prepare for 4 essays even though you only write 2. He says he is lenient but he looks for anything to knock points off. He is strict on memorizing dates and numbers. I would never recommend him. Terrible.
He's loud and funny and awesome.
Most fun class you can have.
He is a pretty good instructor. Easy study materials. Very interactive.
Very good instructor.
Professor Pearson was very loud and hilarious. I enjoyed the class. Although, i thought his tests were very difficult. Essays are not the problem, but the necessity to include a list of vocab as well was unnecessary. Usually i didn't do it because the subject of the essay had almost nothing to do with the required vocab.
Fun class. Not hard at all.
Professor Pearson was excellent. He is very passionate about history, and makes you interested. No, his tests aren't easy if you slack. But if you study and you pay attention, you CAN make an A. I found it easy to make an A in his class. He expects you to work hard for it. Welcome to college. Work hard, pay attention, and you will love his class.
I've never been too interested in history, but Pearson was awesome. Not easy, but his enthusiasm makes going to class worth it. Quirky guy and quirky sense of humor but I thought he was hilarious. He assumed we read the book every day, but he doesn't use it at all. It is helpful when studying for tests though. He's a good guy, I recommend him
He is very clear on grading criteria. Amazing lectures keeps your interest.
Pearson is hilarious! He's very straight-forward about what he expects. There's 2 summary statements due out of 4 articles - your choice which 2 you wish to write. No extra credit whatsoever. He gives you a study guide the wk prior. Only 3 exams and they're essay-based. It's super easy tho. He's a fun, quirky guy! I'm taking him for 1302.
Quirky guy who made history lectures enjoyable enough. Clear on what he wants from you. Never uses the book in class but it will be referred to on the tests. Tests are essay based with no multiple choice or fill in the blank... If you remember one thing, remember this: wild in the streets
I'm a dual credit student and he was overall very accommodating with my high school schedule. Attendance is mandatory for him. He is very kind and funny. His exams are straight forward and he prepares you pretty well for them. I fell asleep during his lectures a lot though because it is very long. Professor Pearson was great though.
Annoying honestly, so many long pauses cause he spends half the class reviewing the last class and will just stand drinking his lemon water saying hes "patient" try and get a different professor, so picky on quotes and paraphrase like half my class or more apparently plagiarized including me for 3 irrelevant words that were not even word for word?
Great professor. Interesting lessons, funny. Not so tough on grading. Enjoyed his classes. Loved the noisy slides. And of course as somebody said remember "wild in the streets."
I took this class because I had great experience with this professor in 1301. He is a great professor, funny, makes the classes easy. Gives review before every test. Test are easy: essay question and 5 ID's. Would take him again, but I don't need any more credits in History. Take this class, you will enjoy it. Two thumb up for professor Pearson!!!
Its only been a few days since I enrolled in his class. Im really enjoying it so far. Mr. Pearson seems to be pretty helpful when someone doesn't understand something. Plus, he tells interesting stories. Im looking forward to the rest of this semester!
Not much assignments but the tests can be difficult if you don't pay attention, show up to class nor read the book; however, he is a good professor.
NO phones allowed, don't skip, participation counts, does not post notes on BB. But VERY understanding, will take in something late if u explain why. 2 papers, 3 tests, no comprehensive final. Very simple, and straight to the point. Take notes, study for tests, come to class, and turn in your papers. Super easy but all tests are writing only
He is a funny professor but this class was difficult for me. He is serious about no cell phones in class. There's 2 papers assigned and he graded them harder than my English professor graded my essays. Exams are all free response so if you skip class, you will have a hard time on the tests.
I loved this professor! I never really liked history but he made it so interesting and fun that I couldn't help but love it. I learned more in this class than any history class I've taken and he teaches in a way that makes the subject matter stick when it comes to test time. Would definitely take him again! He's all about the transitions, LOL.
He is the best ! I never liked history, but I made an A. He is very funny, helpful, and you will never fall asleep in his class. I'm taking history again next semester , and i will definitely choose him.
Not an easy class , if you are not ready to read and study hard run.
Will not advice anyone to take.
No fun class. Hard essay to write, 2 pages for one question... No joke
Man is his voice loud. Professor Pearson was funny but I had his class after lunch so i often fell asleep in his class because of food coma :/ That's why my participation grade wasn't so great haha. But he gives you an exam review and goes over it which is super helpful. He doesn't believe in multiple choice so a lot of reading & writing involved!
Yells a lot if you haven't gotten enough sleep
Great teacher, super funny, only down side is the test! All open ended or essays, never multiple choice. But the study guides for the test help a lot and are almost exactly like the test. Oh and there is alot of reading on your own time but not to hard. Just make sure to take notes and do the test reviews! (and never had any homework)
Funny and not too hard. Do the reading, take notes and the class is not hard at all.
Great professor. Just read a few pages a week, take notes, and you will get an easy A.
This was such a fun class. Learned a lot and got an A!
I took the summer class. He requires 2 essay questions, 2 pages per question for each test. No multiple choice. It's alot of writing on test day but it's manageable. I got an A in the class and from what I was told, most of the class got at least a B.
His voice is SUPER LOUD and can get annoying at times, but is quite passionate about what he teaches. No quizzes or assignments, just 3 ESSAY tests with identifications, no multiple choice. He gives possible prompts and ID's before hand so if you know your stuff its an easy A. It is just hard to pull through class with his boring teaching style
Really interesting class. I learned a lot I didn't learn in high school, and got an A. Highly recommended.
Professor Pearson made me love US history, and I took both his 1301 and 1302 classes last year. Unlike a lot of history teachers out there, he loves the subject and does a great job at teaching it. His lectures keep students engaged, and with only 2 papers and 3 tests, this class is easy to pass if you are willing to put in the work. Great guy!!
Great Professor. Learned so much in his class. Highly recommend him for History.
seriously not the best teacher that I had. the subjucts weren't on the timeline, he just pick random events during the period and talk about it, test's essay questions were hard, the good thing is that he gave study guide with exactly what you need to write about, so that you can get ready for it. The lectures were all long and dry:/
He's an amazing teacher. Super funny and energetic about history. Will answer whatever questions you have and is available before, during, and after class for help as well. Gives 3 tests which he gives a study guide before hand of the actual test and then takes off certain things on test day and has a mandatory two 2-3 page assignments to due.
He's very enthusiastic about what he teaches. Not much homework in his class, grades are only 3 tests and two essay's and he grades a bit hard but if you take notes and read you should do good in his class.
I have taken Chad Pearson twice, he is the most amusing history professor you will take. Hands down. He likes to get student interaction which helped me a lot in remembering events. He is loud but in a good way, the only people I can see who would not enjoy it are the ones that would rather sleep in their classes. Trust me, he is "no small potato".
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! I've taken Professor Pearson twice, I wish all professor were like him. He is great! Because of him I now love history.
Awesome teacher! Super funny and engaging.
Amazing teacher! Great fun, really engaging and hilarious yet at the same time, you actually retain information!!
Dr. Pearson is a fine educator. He understands the material and is extremely motivated. That said, his lectures are extremely lengthy yet his eccentric personality keeps you engaged. "It's time to transition from the little screens, to the big screen." his famous line before class, do not use your cell phone he will call you out.
Lots of fun. Liked the class and learned a lot.
3 Mid's and 3 papers. Exam is 1 broad question and 5 short questions. Just write around the topic, you will get good marks. He gives very clear guideline for the exam. No chance to fail. But he is annoyingly loud. If you are seating at the front, use ear plug. lol.
Imagine Jon Cryer talking to you about history and Justin Bieber after 12 pots of coffee. I. ADORE. Dr. Pearson! I always hated history, but his levels of energy and enthusiasm for the subject were contagious. He provides all the facts in a way that is entertaining, engaging, yet leaves a few gaps for you to fill in with your own opinions.
Cool and funny guy. My friend and I always talk about his transitions and choice of movie.
Take him if you want a C for hard work
I have taken Chad Pearson for twice and he is definitely one of the best teachers I have ever had. Some people would say he is loud but wouldn't you rather have a enthusiastic teacher over a silent boring one? The guy's awesome he loves to have a good laugh but can easily take control of the classroom and expand our minds with his knowledge.
EASY GRADER
He is not terrible, but his lectures are quick and very plain. He leaves it up to you to read the textbook to get material for the tests. Tests are 2 page essay and 5 short answer. I would take him again
Really funny, mostly interesting, and not too hard
Gives study guide before exams, which makes this class not too hard. one of best.
LOVED HIM. Straight to the point, always reviews before class starts and gives out reviews before test. He does essay styled tests, 2 unit exams and one final, gives 2 of 3 essay questions on test & the rest you answer 5 random IDs of 25ish. Had 2 straight to point essays (15% of grade each). He's very hilarious and wants you to learn. NO PHONES!!!
I must start by saying, that Dr. Pearson is probably the BEST lecturer I've come across in a while; However, all of his exams are ESSAY STYLE and you must cite/connect examples without outlines within the class period (minimum 3 pages). Yes, he gives a review the week before, but can be quite challenging to accomplish the day of!
Wouldn't advise to take him if you plan on missing a day of class, causes a scene if he sees you on your phone, he thinks he's teaching a 9th grade class
Took Pearson for summer and only made us take three tests. No papers. One book and little to read. Kind of funny and interesting.
He assigns a little reading and the tests come from the one textbook and the lectures. Very clear and easy to do well. Solid course and funny professor.
Really good at keeping you engaged in the lecture. Makes learning history fun.
History is a very boring subject for a lot of students, so a professor who makes it fun is highly sought after. Professor Pearson was one of those professors that makes history a lot of fun. He has so much energy when he is lecturing and has a quirky, funny personality. I really enjoyed his class.
Professor Pearson is a fun professor to have. He has very high energy and competes for who can be louder against unknowing neighboring professors. Makes things very entertaining. However, it seems he is kind of hard on his grading, and it would be nice if he put his notes on Canvas. All around he is a great professor and fun to have.
I took Chad Pearson in the spring, he gave me 0 for missing an exam when i had a flat tire on the way to class, showed up with dirt and rubber marks all over myself and my clothes, he still would not let me take my exam, and requested a police report for a flat? Dont miss class or be prepared to struggle in his class. Really cares about attendance
Interesting and funny class. Show up, read the book before exams and it is not too hard. Good feedback and lots of information.
Old school. Doesnt allow computers when taking notes. Taking notes is very difficult because notes arent online. You have to listen to what he says but this can be hard because its difficult to write as fast as someone speaks. Lectures are very interesting though. 4 tests and 2 papers. Provides study guide so just mf study and youll pass.
Took him for the summer two years ago. 3 tests and study guide. you know what will be on the test and just read a little and it is easy.
The greatest history course I've ever taken.
A great professor all around. I actually looked forward to his classes and might just take him again for fun for some other course since I had so much fun despite being a mechanical engineering major!
I loved this class. Lots of interesting info and not too hard
attendance is mandatory! he makes lectures really fun and hes just a goofy man. takes good notes and youll get an A
Mr Pearson is a hilarious instructor, making every lecture funny yet in very informal.
This was a fun class. Pearson taught us a lot and made time to meet in office hours. I loved it.
Professor Pearson is a great professor! His tests are very easy if you pay attention to his lectures, take notes and study. His lectures are entertaining and he makes them very clear. Hes funny and explains everything where everyone understands. Grading is easy! As long as you show up and take notes youll get a good grade
Mr. Pearson really knows his stuff really well and makes the class entertaining that I enjoy being there. Tests consist of writing an essay (He gives us the prompt prior to the test day) and identifying 5 vocab terms. The downside is that you cannot access his slides on Canvas, so if you are absent, you have to rely on the book.
I loved professor Pearsons class! He knows we arent there to be history majors but still makes the class interesting. Hes not a boring lecturer at all. For tests just fill up the required pages and youll get an A. As for phones, just respect the policy and stay off them! He will call you out. I will recommend him to everyone!
He used the textbook a lot and encourages his classes to read weekly to keep up. Hes a great lecturer and youd never be bored in his class because hes very interactive. Hes a tough grader because he holds his students to a higher standard, and its really important to check the syllabus to make sure you never miss an essay or test.
I thought he was an hilarious professor. Very energetic and definitely would keep you entertained in class. The book was definitely needed to study for his tests. As long as you can reference both the book and his lectures on the test you would get a good grade. I really enjoyed his class even with his unashamed opinions on matters of government.
He requires a textbook for the class and for you to take notes off the PowerPoints and off his lectures but if you show up to his class daily and participate, you will make a very good grade! The way he lectures keeps you interested and focused on the topic or topics discussed!
Hands down one of my favorite professors at Collin College. He is so energetic and keeps his students focused. If you come to class, take notes, read the book required and participate in lectures you will do great. He will call you out if you try to use a cell phone in his class. So don't try. He also pulls out the "horn" when he is serious.
Funny proffesor and keeps the subject interesting. All tests are essay based but not too bad. Take notes on the powerpoints if you want to pass. clear study guides for every test.
This professor is extremely excited and energetic. He made it very easy to pay attention. The class was weighted on a few exams which were pretty much timed essays (fairly easy if you prepare), a couple actual essays, participation in group discussion, and attendance. Good professor to take if you pay attention and prepare for the exams.
The worst History I have ever had. I have taken 5 week summer class to save time. But it turned out that, this is no different from the normal semester. We had 3 exams, 2 papers, and 3-4 discussions per week. The exams are all in the essay format. which is worst. I had to spend day and night to finish the given work. exams and essays are 3-5 pages.
He was okay but felt he only taught one side of history. He taught more to the politics of history than the events of history. If I wanted to take a political class I would have. He also did like anyone that disagreed with him in any aspect of history. Would not recommend him. On top of all of this, he was just plain boring. 1/10 for sure.
Great professor. He knows his stuff and makes you see US history in new ways. Good at responding to email.
I never liked history, but prof Pearson made the class very interesting. It was way better than my high school classes.
I thought he was really great. You just have to pay attention and give examples on his tests. He is easy to talk with and gives good lectures. He is not boring.
I hated every single second of this class. Pearson was a pain to work with in regards to his grading. He would ask for examples, you would give them, and he would want more "specific" examples. You can do no right in this class. He does not give you feedback that you can work with, he gives you his opinion on the topic and then moves on. STAY AWAY.
Overall a great teacher, I took a night class once a week so it was long but he made it very interesting. Not too much homework very doable and a really enjoyable history class, highly recommend.
Was a solid class. Pearson gave interesting lectures and responded to emails very quickly. Never dull and lots of good info.
Great class and a fun professor. I will take him for 1302.
I really liked Professor Pearson. There were 4 exams and 2 papers which were easy if you know the material. The exams were free-response where he gives you 3 possible prompts and on test day you pick one of the two he decides. Little to no textbook as long as you look over the chapters before exam day you should do well.
Loved history 1302 with Professor Pearson. Engaging lectures, entertaining professors, our homework assignments were easy and I enjoyed them. Does require a textbook. Accessible outside of class and wants to see you succeed. If you communicate with him he will give you the opportunity to re-do assignments. Lenient grader.
