This guy was not a good prof---He was incredibly hard to understand. He did cut us a break at the end of the semester for test grades, but I found him to be really unhelpful...Sometimes, really grumpy and kind of mean.
very, very thick accent. One of the least understandable professors at UTSA. Try Prof. Yu, Hing-Sing if you need algebra w/ calculus for business. He is funny and very helpful!!
Hard to understand, sleep most of the time
Horrible teacher - hard to understand, ignores questions in class from students, and was always late!
Awful awful awful. He's rude and unhelpful when it comes to answering questions. I learned after the first day to just sit there and keep my mouth shut! Late to class, poor English. He writes SO small and SO messy on board-impossible to read!
I had to drop the course because he was impossible to understand. Not a very easy class either.
Shows what to do, but not why. Very persnickity. Don't ask him a question (or your neighbor) or he will call you out and make you feel like an idiot. Treats students like children. Nice as long as you understand and are quiet.
Excellent teacher.
very good Explains well
Very hard to understand, and makes you look stupid if you ask any questions or ask what he's written on the board. Tests are easy and very little homework, just stay on top of your work and the book and you'll do fine.
CK is difficult to understand sometimes, but he makes it clear at the start of semester to bail if you can't understand. Very helpful, praises correct answers but can be demeaning if you're wrong. don't be shy, do HW. Only a few HW questions a night.
Knowledgeable &good teacher
He talks a little fast, but hes still understandable and the class is easy
He is sometimes hard to understand and his class was very hard for me, but he is kinda funny. He gives out homework that you have to turn in each class. This will help if you are not a good test taker.
He is a good professor...though he does expect you to be familiar with what you are doing. You shouldn't take him if you don't understand foreigners. He encourages questions...and I don't feel stupid in his class.
HE IS A GOOD PROFESSOR, BUT HE GETS UPSET WHEN ASKED A QUESTION, AND IF YOU ARE LATE HE MAKES SURE TO CALL YOU OUT
It was tough to understand him in the beginning because of his accent but I sat in the front row so I probably had a better time understanding than the people in the back. I didn't think the material was difficult, especially if you go to class.
the material is easy but explains it in a way to confuse you. He's hard to understand, says he's helpful but when you ask question he'll talk to you like you're stupid. I recommend not to take him.
Curves grades heavily, I didn't answer the last page of the final and passed with a C. He knows when you get extra help and remembers faces. hard to understand sometimes and is somewhat intolerant of questions you could figure out on your own.
Pretty Good teacher,he was hard to understand first but once you over come that he should be ok. In summer school he was really laid back and very helpful.
Better in small classes where you can ask for help. HW assignments are usually very short. Tests are short but fair. Be sure to ask for help early. Very kind & considerate professor, he cares so much about his students. Highly recommended!!
hes a really cool guy, kind of hard to follow beacause of his accent, but he goes through everything thorughly and is sometimes. He doesn't want to have late homework because he hates that!
he's very hard to understand at first because of his accent, but he goes slow and makes sure you understand. he does take attendance every day so go. you could say hes a weird version of danny devito.
Hard to understand, but the class is extremely easy
He is a great professor!! The tests are super easy and he tells you exactly what will be on them! He is really funny and a really nice guy! In the first couple days his accent is hard to understand but you get used to it! He is one of the professors who will go out of his way to help you understand!
Like the others said hard accent the first couple of days but it does make the class go by faster cause you just have to laugh at some of the way he says things. You adapt easily to the accent. His tests are very easy. He is very fair. Homework is short and not difficult. VERY GOOD INSTRUCTOR
He thinks he is an indian movie star.. class is hard but not impossible
Guy is very passionate about teaching, i applaud him for that..... However, he is difficult to understand (some words sound completely different, easy to mix up what he is saying) If you are slightly ahead of him in class and ask a question he tries to embarrass you, he likes to show his power
This class was very easy. Its not hard at all to make an A if you pay attention and do the practice problems he assigns. The tests are pretty much over what was on the hw and practice problems. He even has a study day before the test to answer any questions.
hes nice
ehh, he's ok. he gives easy hw assignments with 5 problems. The tests are kinda hard and i didnt do very well on them. Youll get used to the accent after the first week. Go to class, do your homework and understand everything and you should be fine, but dont expect it to be easy!
very good
study and youll be fine
Hard to understand
His accent isn't that hard to understand. He only gives 3 tests + a final. There are only 14 questions on each test---so you better get most of them right to get a decent grade. He is sacastic & very few ask him questions...just go to the SI instead.Thank god for the SI. Little homework though.
he is okay, but it is really hard to follow him because he likes to take shortcuts on his work. i wouldn't recommend him for people who hate or are not good at math.
teaches very fast and gets upset if you dont understand him
To me he was really hard to understand, I wouldn't recommend anyone taking him. Sorry
He's not the easiest and nicest person to understand, but I had no trouble with the class. If you just want to get the class out of the way, he's not too bad.
Heis an easy teacher, does every example and takes you step by step. This was the easiest math class i have ever taken. Test are multiple choice, he gives a review for the final only, drops one test grade if you ask him.
He is a very good professor, he explains everything real well and if you need help he does not mind helping. He is a little hard to understand but you get used to it. He is real understanding, he dropped one of our test grades cuz everyone failed it. His test are easy, he gives example questions and they are exactly the same as the test.
The accent is a little weird, but other than that, he's an okay teacher.
This prof drove me insane...couldnt understand a word that was said.
I can't understand anything he says and can't read anything that he writes on the board. The material is really simple though, so it's really easy to just teach yourself. In fact... if you go through high school math then you probably already know everything.
He is a good professor. If you don't get something he will try to explain it to you and go over it. Just participate in class and he will like you.
This Professor is very helpful and EASY! If you do not understand something in class, he will kindly go over the information again and again until you understand. His accent is not much of a barrier to learning; perhaps those people who noted their difficulty with it should get their hearing checked. :)
this professor was difficult to understand at first but once you got use to his accent (which is rather heavy) it was pretty easy to understand. really nice and very helpful will take the time to go over stuff if you get lost :)
This guy's accent is so incredibly hard to understand. He makes the math terms sound like bio diseases. He goes too fast in lecture and when questions are asked, he doesn't take time to explain and he makes you feel like the biggest idiot in the world. many people told me to drop him but I wanted to try and stick it out. BIG MISTAKE! Run!!
He is very hard to understand at first, but then you get used to his accent. He has a temper. If you talk in his class he will get mad and call you out on it. If you ask him a question on what he is teaching he will make you feel stupid. I learned a lot in his class, but he is a rude person.
this class sucks. it is way to easy to even be a college class. you don't have to go because he doesn't take attendance or even know whats going on in his class. his lectures are dumb and the book will explain everything you need to know. the tests are like 15 questions (the final is 25 or something). the hw is online and the program sucks.
not too easy to understand, he's very easy, i am not great at math and i got an A in college algebra
He is hard to understand but after having him all summer I am accustomed and can understand him. He is fair and helpful for the tests.
overall easy class you dont really need to go unless theres a test he teaches directly from the textbook you have to buy for the software to do the homework which is annoying but the material covered is very simple thats all kbye.
he's a good guy. you get used to his accent and he teaches really easy and slow. take him for an A.
CK is a great professor. His class is really easy if you go to it and semi-pay attention. He makes up words like wood "swinking" and how lines run "obslantically." I would reccommend taking this class.
He doesnt give good notes. which to me in math notes are very helpful to completely understand what is being taught. his homework was very easy bcause it was online. he is also very hard to understand due to his accent.
he's an alright professor. easy A or B. attendance is not required, but be sure to keep up with the homework online.
He's a good teacher- I just slacked off and Now I'm taking him again. He makes sense most of the time and does his best to be nice to the students-he may come off as brass- but its just a different style of teaching. He goes fast- but stops and helps you understand. He's a good professor
The worst!! He has a really thick incomprehensible accent and he gets extremely rude and emotional about nothing! His class is pretty much a self teach and unless your willing to leave class with nothing then DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!PLEASE!!
Luckily, the class itself is pretty simple. That is, if you already know basic math. Otherwise, his speech is extremely hard to understand and he is not good at explaining things. He tries very hard to help you if you have a question, but sometimes it is a lost cause.
Professor Agrawal is a little hard to understand but if you follow his directions and do the home work you'll do just fine.
He is an awful teacher. I could not understand a word he said and he spoke way too fast. He is very impersonal and rude to his students.
Don't take this teacher!! I ended up dropping the class because I could not understand a thing he said!!! It was AWFUL and you can not approach him because if you do he makes you feel stupid and you still can not understand a word he says!!! AWFULLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!
Agrawal is a good teacher. Sit infront of the room(go to class) and he'll reward you. There is homework every week 3 tests non cumilative.(he drops the lowest grade) Don't joke around in class(he hates it.) The tests are really easy, but he is a little hard to understand. He goes through material kinda fast so pay attention. EASY A!!!!!
Professor Agrawal is a very nice professor. He gives many chances for extra credit and it is obvious that he wants all of his students to succeed. However, his writing is difficult to read and keeping up with him in closs is hard when you cannot read his writing. Also, he has a very thick accent. If you do the homework and study you will be fine.
Not a particularly hard class. As with all courses, you're expected to read the material before attending the lecture, and do the practice problems assigned in class. A TA was also available. We had 4 tests and weekly homework online. This is not enough to pass! I imagine those who did poorly did so due to a lack of effort.
He's a good teacher he'll do his best to help, the only thing I hated was that he was impossible to reach outside of class, he does not respond to email and that he had no sense of humor whatsoever
Moves fast and is hard to understand. Gives extra credit, but you must find him in his office and he can be hard to find.
He is very helpful, and nice. I recommend him, just go to class and take notes.
At first his accent is a little hard to understand, but you get used to it. He's nice if you answer questions in class & sit in front. This is hard though bc if you ask a question or get the wrong answer he'll look at you like you're insane (rudeish). Noone wanted to speak up. Textbook like the lecture but go to class to see examples. Tests are ok.
Agrawal is a bit hard to understand, but he is nice and fare. Do your homework and go to class, you should be fine. I recommend him
You cant get a bad grade in this class because of the professor. His lectures are from the book and simple. The questions on the test are like the ones he does in lecture. Also before the test he provies what type of question, and give you examples. DOnt be rude and loud, go to class and learn.
I had a hard time understanding what he was saying and after class once one he got into a heated argument with a student. Out of 25 students maybe 13 people went to class every day. If your fairly well in math then you have a chance.
Nice man, average class, and boring subject. If you attend, take notes, and study just a little, passing is not very hard.
If you fail or drop this class, its your own fault. Professor Agrawal gives extra credit, takes 10 of the best homeowrks, and does a test review before each test. He is very helpful. His accent is not a big deal as people make it. Dont be lazy and do your work.
Yes, he has an accent and his handwriting is not very clear, but he is a nice guy. His teaching style is decent. He teaches the material step by step. There is no way to get confused. Overall I do recommend him because he does his job and does it well.
Great Teacher!! Gives the students the option of the type of test and offers extra credit. straight forward teaching!! I recommend!
he gives out 1 point for every 1 1/2 at the math tutoring center. Overall he teaches from the book and his test are 3 multiple choices and he drops the lowest and he gives out an online test for every chapter covered in class.
Took him during summer classes. He doesn't really teach just reviews the material out of the book. He said the book wasn't necessary, but ended up getting annoyed when you didn't bring it. He has an accent and his handwriting is illegible. He was a nice man that was very lenient on his grading which is why i passed with a C.Would not take him again
This professor was rather understanding about his accent and he tried to make sure you could understand. The concepts and his material were not difficult and his tests were very easy. I recommend visiting him during his office hours to chat with him frequently
Read the book, go to tutoring and you will do fine. He has a heavy accent and his handwriting is horrible. He says he understands if we can't understand him, but belittles you if you say anything about it. Doesn't answer emails and only uses MyMathLab. Not recommended if pre-cal not your strongest subject
I can't believe anyone thinks he is difficult..Agrawal is one of the best math professors i've ever had! His notes are straight forward, the homeworks help a lot, and he is always willing to help students. As long as you do the homework, come to class, and do the practice problems you will make an A! He does have an accient, but its notbad at all
Already know College Algebra? Dont want to go to class? Want an easy credit? This guy is for you. If you answered NO to any of the above. Try someone else.
This class was fairly easy with regard to the professor offering 10 points extra credit on each test for going to tutoring. However, he has a very thick accent and has somewhat of a temper. I would recommend this class only because of the easy extra credit that helps the grade a lot.
His accent can be understood after 2 weeks of attending his class. Tests are just like the online homework & in-class problems. Go to class + do homework = easy A. People expect too many professors to be stoopid easy...
Goes by the book. The professor does have an accent, so pay attention to the notes on the board because sometimes he can write something down and it can be different then what he says. GOES BY THE BOOK. When you ask a question in front of the class he does have the tendency to put you down, with a comments "this is easy."
His class isn't difficult once you get past the accent. He tells you to ask questions when you don't understand, but then makes you feel like an idiot when you ask them. Goes by the book and gives extra credit. You would have to try really hard to fail even if you did not know all of the material.
Takes a while to get used to his accent but once you do he's really clear in what he teaches. It's easy to get an A in his course as long as you pay attention to what he says will be on the test. He doesn't like when people ask questions about the topic you're on though, he'll make you feel stupid. Other than that great professor!
His accent wasn't a huge problem, it takes a few days to understand. He does try to make you feel like a complete idiot when you ask any sort of question, answering with; "This is easy, you should already know this already," or some other belittling remark. Getting along with a decent grade because of YouTube NOT this professor.
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! Never "TAUGHT" the material, only reviewed the general examples in the book and you can't understand his handwriting. Slight temper & skips steps when doing the examples which makes it very hard to follow along!
Easy if you already know pre cal
This is an excellent class if you have taken Algebra II/ College Algebra. However if you have no experience in either of these subjects, find another professor. Nothing is taught in detail. Plus you have to get used to his accent.
There is honestly ZERO excuse to not have an A in his class. Literally by the book prof. Tells you how many questions from each sections are on the test. All Homework online, and UNLIMITED tries. So NO excuse not to have a 100 average on homework! Pretty much just put in a little bit of effort and you will be rewarded. Taking him for Pre Cal too.
Horrible handwriting. Hard to understand because of his accent. Need the book. Easy 100s on my math lab homework assignments. Horrible teacher because he doesn't explain anything. Don't even bother asking for his help. But his exams are based off the book...so do the practice problems he assigns. and you'll do well + bonus points are given.
Professor Agrawal is not a helpful guy. If you ask a question he will reply with a temper. He goes from the book and is helpful by telling you what kind of questions will be on the test. Takes a while to used to his accent and handwriting. If you don't go to class, the book will help you. Learned better from online homework.
teacher sucks. teaches right out of the text book and looks at you like youre stupid if you ask a question. tests are easy if you do the HW. dont take him unless you know pre-cal already
This guy means well and really wants you to succeed. He respects his students and awards bonus points for tutoring sessions. His teaching is horrible though. He has a temper issue and doesn't explain anything well. Literally, he says the same things everyday. "Anyone have any doubts?" "Do it now please"
He is an okay professor once you get past his accent, but i will advice to take another professor if you can.
I have taken math with this professor 2 times now, and to summarize: He's a pretty bad prof, but he isn't the worst. He has an accent that is a little hard to understand. He tries to be helpful, but in my opinion he was a bit condescending to students sometimes. If you can find a better teacher for precal at UTSA, I would suggest you do so.
I know there are a lot of bad comments about Prof. Agrawal, but he is seriously the nicest most helpful professor, he is very easy and gives lots of extra credit if you attend the QLab at the library. I recommend him! Go to class, do practice problems, attend QLab, study a little before the test and do online homework and you'll get an A!
I would highly recommend to NOT take this professor. Dr.Agrawal is a very cold and blunt. He doesn't teach very well and if you ask a question he yells at you in front of the whole class. Must bring book to class and be on time or he will call you out. I managed to get an A with a private tutor. Only good thing is extra credit on tests.
Difficult to understand him, English is a second language. Also, he is never in his office for office hours.
Never went to class and still passed. oh and i HATE math! ...i honestly didn't think i would pass this class. Great professor!
I didn't think his accent was too bad. Overall he was a nice guy. He says things that sound mean but he really doesn't mean it in that way lol His class is hard if you don't like math or you haven't taken PreCal before. The online homework is really easy beacause you can keep trying a question till you get it right. You won't really need the book.
His lectures are pretty easy. Every sample problem we encounter in class in each chapter and section, he goes over it. You can ask questions and he'll gladly answer them for you. The only problem is that his office hours are too early (for me at least because I had him at 8:00 am to 8:50 am MWF). Overall, he's a pretty good professor.

I've seen some pretty tough reviews for Professor Agrawal but I actually didn't mind his class. He's nice but his accent is strong and he's really soft spoken. He usually lets class out early and lectures straight from the book with practice problems. 30 extra credit points for tests if you attend MAT Lab. Very few grades;only 4 exams and HW. Study
Professor Agrawal may not speak the best English but he tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the tests. The homework's have a max of 20 questions. He gives extra credit for going to the Q-Lab, and he lets you out of class early. It's an easy class to say the least.
Professor Agarwal in my mind is a really good math teacher. He may come off very sassy and mean because of his accent and the way he speaks, but he's very clear cut when it comes to his tests. He has 4 exams which include the final, and on the final he gives bonus points. Math lab is an easy 100 because he gives unlimited tries. Made an A!
Worst prof I've ever had. Accent is think and hard to understand. Ask the class if there are any questions, then makes you feel like a moron for asking. "What do you know understand, I already explained this! Pay attention!" All tests are multiple choice though, so you have a 25% chance to be right.
Yeah he has an accent but I got used to it. Pretty good instructor in my opinion. Sometimes moves a little slow but that just made it easier. Answers questions and explains well. Responsive to class. Actually teaches as opposed to just solving problems in front of the class.
Agrawal barely gives any homework and there are no quizzes so the grade you get comes from the tests. He has a thick accent and his hand-writting is pretty bad but he does tell you exactly what is going to be on the tests the day before. I recommend him to students good at math that don't need to go to class.
Awful. I took "in class mymathlab" class. So basically you attend class but work on mymathlab. we had to do homework for every chapter points (about 3-6 hws per chapter). I can deal with the thick accent, but his handwriting is awful. It's hard to understand the writing and he gets mad. Also he does NOT work on example for better understanding.
His accent is not a big deal. The only difficult thing of this course is his handwriting which is acceptable 90% of the time. Homework is easy and usually only 2 or 3 homeworks per CHAPTER. Multiple choice tests, can use a TYPED formula sheet, only formulas & no math. Need MML, use the ebook in MML, paper book is $$$! Takes ex's from book in class.
Professor Agrawal is a great teacher, however since I don't have a particular interest in math, it was a drag. His method of teaching is clear and to the point, and he gives extra credit opportunities for attending Math Lab or Q Lab tutorials (up to 10 points on each exam). Overall, he's a good teacher.
Agrawal's accent is not bad at all and his handwriting is clear most of the time. He is an extremely good teacher and I would definitely take him again. Very few homeworks and can repeat the questions until you make a 100. Extra credit for exams for going to tutoring. He tells you what the test questions will cover, multiple choice, only 3 tests.
The way he teaches is pretty boring sometimes I zoned out, but he is clear in what he expects of you. He gives out a review a day before the test so as long as you go to that class to get the review you should be fine. If you ask for help he will go over material again and explain different. So if you are not good at math highly recommend him.
His class is somewhat difficult due to his speech, grammar and hand writing. However extra credit is offed for every exam and he tells you what specific topics will be on the exam. I feel like these two factors make the class worth taking.
I personally really liked professor Agrawal. As long as you participate and show an effort in class he'll like you. I'm awful at math so I lived in the tutoring center, the extra credit really helped me get my A . Definitely get a textbook, I rented my textbook off of Amazon for $20. His accident isn't that bad.
He is an amiable guy. Even he has accent, it won't trouble you to understand. his lecture is easy and understandable. Take note and do homework, you can get an A!!!!! I took his class last semester, and just continue the next level of his for this semester. highly recommend!!!!
He is a good person but terrible teacher. His accent is not bad, but he doesn't teach clearly. I was very good at math up until his class. His ways of teaching threw me off and we never used the book since it was on MyMathLab. Don't recommend.
If you like a professor that teaches straight out of the book and leaves class everytime for at least 5 min then take this class. If you want to actually be taught stuff instead of book work than I suggest a different professor
Horrible! Hardly ever even tells you that he finally bothered to post about homework, leaves class consistently during the middle of a lecture, feels the need to take up his short 40 min lectures with things such as telling everyone "well to those who don't study..." completely hindering the learning experience! Would not recommend.
He's a very interesting guy. He is hilarious but doesn't seem to realize it. Class can be difficult because of the accent and his handwriting. His lectures are long but he does stop to ask questions. He moves very fast so be prepared to keep up on your own.
You're probably here to see if you should take this professor. I will save you the trouble, go look for another professor. That simple. Basically, he will make you hate math, even if you're good at it. TRUST ME!!
Prof. Agrawal is probably one of the more understanding professors in the math department. He lets you use a formula sheet (sort of) for 3 out of 4 tests, offers extra credit for going to the Math tutoring center, and is pretty clear about what he expects. Just check the mathlab for homework daily (he never mentions when he posts stuff)
I had professor Agrawal for the past 2 semesters (1073 and 1093) He tells you the types of questions that he will ask on all exams and for the first 3 exams he offers 10 points of extra credit for going to the mathlab (1 point per hour) He also does have unusual handwriting and an accent.
This class was challenging, I enjoyed it and learned a great deal. It moves very quickly but Prof. Agrawal always takes time to ask if any one has any questions. (But people do not always take the chance to speak up.) He is clear about what he expects. He is a caring and compassionate man and I respect him very much. Work hard and you will do well.
This professor is not the one you want for Math. He has a heavy accent and he doesn't seem like he likes to repeat himself. He wants you to participate/give feedback during class to make sure you understands, but he still plows through the lesson. Doesn't allow notes on tests and they are taken on a computer where there can be many mistakes.
If you do homework and show up you will pass the class. Although he is very hard to understand and you cannot read his handwriting he does everything to make sure everyone passes the class. Allows a lot of extra credit and test are pretty easy as long as you do the review. Would defiantly take him again.
Good at teaching explains alot, heavy accent, but still a good teacher.
you have to show up to class even if you don't need it. I didn't pay attention to 90% of what he said during class and went home did the homework he posted and learned how to do it better than how he was teaching it.
