Prof. Baptiste is excellent and keeps class interesting! She's willing to help you if you're willing to put the effort in. You have to do the work and attend all the classes.
I took English 111 with her and I am now taking English 112 with her because I liked 111 so much. We went to see a movie as a class. We did a lot of fun activities as a class. Wasn't too extremely hard but it also wasn't too easy. She will help you as much as you need!
She can be a really good teacher, but also can be very taugh to you if she does not like you. she has very good knowledge, but sometime not very well motivated.if you want good grade, not only work hard but also need a little bit of talent and creativity.
I enjoyed her class. It was very easy if you do the work. She is very disorganized and rarely shows up on time to class. But do not think that makes her a push over! She does as little work as possible and expects you to pay attention to what she says so that she does not have to post anything on blackboard.
She is a good teacher but kind of lazy because she was pregnant. She rarely shows up on time to class and does not post instructions on Blackboard. Tough on grading papers. Just do the work and write down due dates.
Hands down the worst professor I've ever had. She can't speak proper English, doesn't teach, shows up 10 minutes late when she even shows up... This would all be OK by me if she was an easy A, but she isn't. She won't help outside of class. Just plain awful. Go with somebody else.
She is a wonderful professor who cares about the students. She explains the work properly. The only problem is that there is too much of it. But she is very understanding. I learned a lot in her class.
Best class I ever had! Shes a wonderful down to earth professor. She will help you with anything you need help with.
She is a very nice teacher and her class is easy as long as you turn in your work. There is a normal amount of homework, not a lot. Only thing is she shows up late every class, and if she cancels its last minute. But she is down to earth and very laid back.
I didn't find her work too easy but hands down the best professor NOVA offers. She's fun and down to earth. She was not late for my class. I have become a better writer and thinker!
She is a wonderful proffessor, very dilightful and uplifting to my day. I enjoyed going to her class. I learned so much from her class and it didn't feel like I learned but in reality I learned more than anyone though. She doesnt use black board often and she can be late at times but she is a very good proffessor and I would recomend her to anyone.
GREAT TEACHER TOOK HER FOR ENG 111 too. So of course she was awesome if I took her again. Got an A in both class and if you do your work she'll give you an A too all she wants is for you the student to actually work.
Great class.Really fun!
Professor Jean-Baptiste is really behind when it comes to following the syllabus. There's a lot of debating when it comes to the class and it gets absolutely out of control. She has canceled class twice at the last minute with barely any notice and her teaching style is tough to understand. I highly recommend taking someone else for English.
She is always behind on her syllabus. Likes to blame blackboard for things not being posted. Never responds to emails. Won't give send an email if class is cancelled. Doesn't give feedback on papers. She's very forgetful. Doesn't speak proper English and she's an English teacher! Unless you're a really good writer, don't sign up with her!
She's very nice and helpful! I've learned so much from her class! She's helped me improve my writing very much.
She gives moderate to a lot of essays but they are manageable! Great personality! Loved her class!
The class was challenging but worth it!! She was very nice to students. I learned a lot and even though she jumped around on the syllabus. I learned so many interesting things. We even took a field trip!! Best class yet.
Very good class. Fun and challenging in one breath. Needed to update Blackboard more often but otherwise great. Very respectful of students.
Honestly, she is a very horrible teacher. Daily use of Blackboard and e-mail is encouraged at the beginning of the semester and 1 or 2 weeks into the course, she doesn't post any information online regarding homework assignment or essays. Essays are straight out of the book. She doesn't further explain anything and most of the class is confused.
She is a great professor. She knows the material and is very helpful. But she is extremely unorganized. The class was often times very random. She is not a punctual person but her lectures make up for these few flaws. She will work with you ! Great person & very down to earth! I definitely recommend!
She is a good professor but very slow at putting things on blackboard and never answers emails.I really like her as a person but not as a teacher. I would say if you want to save yourself some frustration I would not take her.
Professor is great and personality is better. I enjoyed her course.
If you're looking to increase your knowledge on literature, don't take this class. If you just want to pass, take this class. Papers were always handed back late with little feedback. She doesn't let you email your work. If you buy the book and do the homework; you will pass, guaranteed. No tests or quizzes, just projects!
Really fun teacher that seems to genuinely enjoy her classes. Class was relatively easy for a summer class and you do the reading you'll be fine.
Very cool class. it is exactly what it says it is -- pop culture. you talk about movies, tv, music, holidays, everything. I recommend this class -- do your work and you'll get an A. NO TEST!!
Had for ENG 111, 125 & 247 Pop Culture. Wonderful teacher & even better person! 247 is for everyone if you need to write, why not about music & movies (fun, educational & inspirational). Didnt give 5 for grading bc of wording Show up & pass. Its college, youre an adult, do the work nothing in life is free. Fair & caring all should take.
Essays almost every, but if you do you're work on time you will have no problem with the work load. Late on grading, but it was the first time the class was offered so it's a reasonable excuse while all the kinks are worked out with the class. It was a class full of laughs and it was overall a good time.
GREAT in class. But grades come in slow and that means so is feedback. But she recognized her short-comings and did her whatever she could to make the situation more fair to students.
In ENG 247 :interesting topics were covered, need book to pass class, interesting discussions on relevant topics such as film, television, and recent pop culture news, and must be on top of class every week with multiple assignment and essays. Grades come in extremely slow.
She's a great teacher but is late on grading which can be frustrating but if you talk with her about your grades she's pretty understanding and fair. Overall fun class! You won't get bored at all! It's pop culture so the class discussions and assignments are on interesting topics that students can relate to making the assignments easier to do.
I really enjoyed the class and had a good time. She a great professor and makes the class very interesting. She made the topics relate to us and every class we were laughing. She fell behind on grading our assignments and the schedule was confusing at time. Overall, I would take the class again!
Overall, she is a very fun instructor and I enjoyed the in-class discussions. However, she handed out so many assignments that she couldn't keep up with the grading. Most of the grades were not entered until the very last month, which made me uncertain about my grade for a while. I recommend her to students who are not taking many classes.
She was very slow at grading assignments and papers. She is a very kind and good woman however, she is not a good professor. Seemed like she had tons going on in her personal life. Has the potential to be a really good teacher.
She was an amazing person and teacher. Really cares about her students and I learned so much in her classes.
If you want to waste your money, not learn anything and getting an B depending on she feels, take this class. She is never prepared, always on her phone, I learned more about her friend's life than anything English related. She doesn't show up to class and won't tell you. She gives assignments but grades them depending on how she feels.
She will be late to every class. Sometimes she doesn't show up and she won't send an email, so you will sit for an hour and have an administrator tell you to go home. Always on her phone, even during her lectures. She is not specific for assignments. If you show up and act interested, you'll get an A. Nice person, not the best teacher.
If you like to write rather than to read - take her! We did approximately 6 or 7 essays and very little reading (when we did read it was out of the course textbook). She was on her phone a lot and didn't show up to class sometimes. Other than that, she's a great person and a laid-back professor. Go to class and be mindful of due dates - Easy A.
If you want an easy A, absolutely take this class. She is usually on her phone most of the time and cancel's class sometimes. She's the easiest grader I've ever had, you don't even need to try on essays. All the papers that you write have to only be 2.5 pages. However, the essay topics are really unclear sometimes but just BS it and you'll pass.
Chalette is a great person really cares about her students. Took in 6 weeks and the essays are basically on your own. She is somewhat of a tough grader but if u follow the guidelines you will be okay. Lots of extra credit opportunities. She is very knowledgeable about literature. She was always late for class though and always on her cell phone
She is fantastic. She bring life to the class with her engagement and humor. I thought this class was going to be extremely boring but was not. As usual you must do the work in order to pass and that's for any class no matter how hard it easy. She knows her stuff and respects everyone and treats everyone the same.
Teacher is very good and very laid back. Don't expect her to pass you, you must do your work.
She is an excellent professor and very respectful to all her student. She will help you out whenever you need her. Her laid back personalty makers it much more easier to talk to her.
Good teacher.
she's awesome
She can be a bit tardy, but overall a good teacher. Grades easily but requires extensive reading, especially in class.
She is very friendly and her class is easy but you have to show up! She has in class assignments some times
Good teacher. Class is really easy. Just show up, read, and get ready for long papers. Easy A.
Good teacher very kind, funny, and helpful.
She makes the class very fun and interesting, discuss' very good topics of good vs evil and the morals of each story that is read and discussed. Be prepared for very deep and in detail discussions.
She is inspirational. She does make you read. You can tell she loves her job. She makes the class fun and not boring. She has this positive attitude which makes me want to come to class and learn more.
She is very outgoing and easy to understand. She does make you read, but a lot of her reading is actually interesting. She does give out homework, but not too much and it will really help you with the class. Great class and great teacher.
Very nice and funny, she usually is late and let's you out earlier, there are a few papers and homework but besides that its an easy class
Great teacher. Lots of reading. Really no tests.
She is a very involved professor. She lays everything out that she expects in her syllabus. There are mandatory homework assignments that if you don't do you won't pass, however she gives many opportunities for extra credit. She really wants her students to do well and is over all an amazing person.
Good teacher, actually cares about your assignments and expects you to read;has come late a few times though.
Professor Baptiste's class was not bad. However, it wasn't easy either. Her syllabus was so confusing and had real hard times finding the required assignments. She has the tendency of being late and takes her for ever to grade papers. In fact during the first 10 weeks, she did not post any grade at all.
Always on her phone & got mad at everyone for no reason. Although there aren't tests in the class, she has presentations & papers - which are incredibly vague when it comes to guidelines. She wouldn't excuse jury duty until the dean got involved. When it came to grades she told me that "I'm giving Blacks an already worse name". She's easy, but no.
Attendance was an issue. Assignments were an issue due to vagueness and time allowed to complete certain assignments. Didn't seem to have a grasp on subject material. Each lecture seemed like it was her first time seeing her own PowerPoint. First few weeks just watched videos off youtube. Easy class yes, if you want to learn something at NVCC, NO.
If you want to learn new things and expand your knowledge on English, I wouldn't take her. If you need an english class credit and want an easy A and write about stuff you already know, then take her. She is outgoing but I didn't learn anything new in this class. She takes forever to grade papers and is always late. But still very nice.
Professor Baptiste is a wonderful person, she's real, caring, and brings her own experiences into the classroom. That being said, her class is a little confusing. I have to agree with others who said she has little guidelines, it makes it hard to do your assignments. But she gives lots of extra credit, and will work with you to make sure you pass.
Does not even show up half the time, never puts in grades on time, very unorganized and inconsistent.
Great professor, easy A, she's fair not a ton of homework and when there is homework its easy. If your looking for an easy A take this teacher. Only bad thing is that she often misses class with very little notice and for the most random reasons. took her for 2 classes ENG 101 and ENG 125
Terrible professor. The class is pointless, she shows up late 8/10 times and sometimes doesn't notify. Doesn't really teach. Puts on YouTube videos or movies and leaves, then comes back. Vagueness in explaining assignments and always late which delays due dates. Grades are never graded or in on time. Gets angry, when students ask simple questions.
WORST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD! If you really want to learn about communications then DO NOT take her. She was late for almost every class and would be very rude if someone asked any simple question. She put on a movie and left the class because she had a "graduation" to attend. When I questioned about my grade she said "Get out of the class".
Never answers questions . Always rude. Ruined my summer by taking this class
I loved Professor Baptiste! She is funny and cares about her students. She doesn't tolerate rude students and making excuses, but she was one of the best professors at NOVA, and I learned so much from her class.
Great class! Do the work and you will pass, and it's not too much work. Great discussions. I was so into this class. I am deciding to become a Communications major. Will recommend her to everyone. She teaches English also.
Worst professor, She is very one sided and she never returns emails, and takes forever to grade essays/work, has attitude, always late, no diversity. She is not flexible or understanding. Honestly very fake. Would not reccommend at all.
she rarely shows up to class and doesn't send out warnings in advance. she takes at least 3 weeks to grade your assignments. all you do is write essay after essay and read every once in a while. she's very unorganized and is a little rude.
Great Professor! Great class! I learned so much from her. She is really knowledgeable and cares about her students.
This Professor was one of the best at NOVA. She will not tolerate rude students but she cares about her students and makes learning fun and entertaining. She gives extra credit and was always there when I needed her. Shes an amazing person and Professor!
Great Professor! Great Class! I made so many friends in her course. She's fun and fosters learning!
Professor Baptiste brings the lessons to life. Her field trips are the best and she has always been so friendly and respectable to me. She cares about all her students and really wants you to pass. You must show up and do the work! She grades tough but allows you redos and extra credit. Best professor this semester.
I took Professor Jean-Baptiste's class during the summer and it was an easy class to take. She is good about posting grades. And will give good feedback on essays that are turned in. That being said coming to class would be very much suggested, she goes over some important things during lecture.
Professor Baptiste tries to make students feel comfortable during her classes. She was also very understanding and friendly to each student in my classroom. Make sure you don't miss class and if you do let her know. She answered my emails in a timely manner and helped me with material that I had missed or didn't understand. Great professor!
Professor was very easy to talk to. She explained everything in detail, more than once. She gave students chances to redo assignments. This is a first college course for me, I'm glad Professor Baptiste was my first insight into adult college life.
Great professor! She keeps the course light and easy. I would highly recommend taking her class if you get the opportunity.
She was a great teacher and her work was very duable
Grading was fair. Feedback helped improve writing.
Great Professor! She is very understanding and kind. You read a lot of the textbook but everything you read helps you to write your papers. Overall, best class and professor I have had at nova so far.
This class was really easy compared to my AP English classes.
I liked her a lot shes a good professor
I like the way she tells stories that relates to a poem or short stories that we just read in class and for extra credit we get to watch a play and if we wrote about it another extra credit so I don't know how else can you fail her class unless you are really lazy.
I have taken Professor Baptiste for several classes. By far my favorite Professor I have ever had. She cares about her students and truly wants them to succeed. If you need help she is there. Participate in class and turn in work on time. No reason anyone should fail her classes. She is not an easy A and she will make you earn s
Relaxed and gives grace for late assignments. But If you have emails or questions in class, she gives rude answers back, when they are questions that would benefit the whole class and are not on syllabus. Which is frustrating. Its and easy A, but this is the least I have ever learned in a class. She comes late and it not on top of the course.
She shows up to class late all the time and sometimes left class to talk on her cell phone for several minutes many times. All we did was write essays and watch a movie. For the final essay she didnt even read it, just checked # of pages and citations then gave me an A. Not complaining about that but I worked really hard and wanted actual feedback
Professor Baptiste was a great teacher! We read a good amount of passages in the textbook- which all led back to the 4 central topics of innocence, rebellion, conformity & experience! Just be ready to read and work hard for a good grade on papers! Highly recommend
Cares about her student and gives motivational lectures with life lessons that you can take away from!
There are a few essays in the class which is expected for an English course. She gives good feedback but may take a while to grade essays. Shes a great teacher.
super sweet and truly cares about students! Also gives lectures that contain life lessons you can take away from it.
Professor Baptiste was a great professor. She cares about her students success and was very helpful throughout the course. Its very hard to fail her class so I highly recommend taking her!
Shes very sweet and also generous with the grading but make sure you attend the class because obviously if you miss class youll miss important information.
I really enjoyed her class. I took English 125 hybrid course. It is tough but her class was fun to be in. We do need textbook for her class to write discussion board first half of the semester. Two essays, One group essay and one final project. She gives you feedback on your essays and you can fix any one essay to get a better grade.
This class really challenges you to think and overall, express yourself on your papers. I would definitely recommend ENG125 with this professor.
Professor was caring and understood the material well. Great at explain analyzing skills.
This class is easy if you do what she tells you and turn in assignments on time. The professor is chill, funny, and makes the class fun.
She gives you great feedback and she appreciates interaction. If you need to talk to her one on one I recommend telling her in person. Other than that great teacher and will take her again in the future
Prof Baptiste was so fun to take! Loved the class and not too much work! You really get to learn about a wide variety of mythologies and not just the regular greek and roman stuff. I loved everything we read.
This was a dope class to take and professor Jean-Baptiste made it even better. It was my favorite class because not only is she chill and lenient but she didn't give too much work as long as you read which were actually interesting stories. I would highly recommend her its an interesting class and if you do the work its not hard to get an A.
Love her class! Cares about you and will push you to do your best, just do the assignments and will definitely pass
Love her class, just do the assignments and you will definitely pass!
took her for mythology, loved the material and the lectures. she gave a wide variety of stories for us to read from all over the world which was nice, didn't rely on the usual greek and roman myths that everyone already knows. Papers were on interesting subjects and gave you just the right amount of freedom but you also knew what she expected
Prof. Baptiste is a hilarious and kind professor. Essays are of reasonable length and difficulty and graded with feedback and light on homework. No exams, only essays. The only thing I didn't like is that she shows up to class late frequently, but other than that, I enjoyed the course a lot. Take her if you want a good professor.
this class was actually a waste of time. she always showed up late and we never really did anything in class. I would never recommend this teacher to anyone. she never responds to emails, and she grades okay. everything is online so I guess you just show up for the grade if she decides to show herself!!!!!!
waste of time and energy. she barely comes on time and she just sits on her phone most of the time. she's cool people but not as a professor and never responds to emails.
Shes a bit rude when speaking with her through email, always late and no actual work done in class, so gets kinda boring, long lectures, but can b somewhat interesting at times. Doesnt really explain essay instructions at all so kinda have to fend for yourself , but its a kinda easy course
I took this class during the spring semester 2020. That semester was crazy due to covid-19 and the transitioning online, but Professor Baptiste worked hard to help everyone. Shes understanding about situations and late work and overall just very nice
I took her class spring 2020 and I understand the craziness during the transition to online instruction due to COVID19 BUT prof Baptiste gave no instruction everything was to be found on the syllabus. I sent 3 emails asking for clarification on an assignment and never got a response. Long unhelpful lectures and she was on her phone. DO NOT TAKE
I've taken Professor Baptiste for ENG125 and ENG257, she is very knowledgeable in everything she teaches and it's amazing. The main assignments are discussion boards, reading responses and essays. Do all of them and you'll pass. Loved this class!!
Professor Jean-Baptiste was the worst teacher I have ever had. She was always late to class, she was on her phone while lecturing, she was disrespectful to students, and once class switched to online due to Covid-19 she basically completely gave up. I would contribute her behavior to the pandemic, but she was terrible before it started.
Don't take Professor Baptiste unless you are willing to wait WEEKs for assignments to be graded and never get answers to your emails. I did not care for her lectures and how she made everything political and controversial. She would also often turn on a movie or ted talk and then just sit on her phone. She was also usually late. Don't recommend.
Takes forever to respond emails. I emailed her before COVID and I didnt get a response until I reported her to the school 2 months into the pandemic worried about my grade. Learning everything was fun but shes unprofessional and not helpful at all. Im selling the book tho so hmu mnf4120@gmail you cant rent you can only buy ): So LMK.
She is very unprofessional; she's missed two classes, ended two within 5 minutes of starting, and been late evey single zoom session. She has assigned little work; some of it is not graded desite being tunred in nearly two months ago. For the work she has graded feedback is very minimal. She also makes eveything political and argues with students.
She never answers emails and takes long to grade essays. Gives very vague feedback on essays. She is a bit nit-picky with grading, she took points off my essays for missed commas. Everything is on the syllabus, don't rely on canvas to see when new assignments are due. She also isn't very open-minded to opinions other than her own, at all.
Simply, no. There are 3 essays along with a final project which consisted of doing something "creative" such as painting. For the essays, there is no feedback on how we could improve, and it takes her about 2-3 months to grades an essay. No replies to any of the emails and every class is a really controversial topic that causes fights.
very unorganized. she is rude, and doesnt reply to emails until 3 days later. again very unorganized cannot stress that enough, very late at grading. One time she made us write an essay and she didnt even post the submission link until a week later with no warning. I took two of her courses and that was a mistake but I got in A grade both of them
She refuses to clarify issues if she thinks they are on the syllabus. She doesn't have a clear grading criteria (told someone that no one posts rubrics, so we shouldn't ever expect them). She is always late- to class, answering emails, and grading. However, her lecture material is interesting, and she is very knowledgeable in her field.
If youre wondering if you should take her, simply dont. She never emails her students and is always late to class. She didnt show up to class and had us waiting via zoom then decided to send an email later that night. Yes, weve reported her and her actions wont change. Late grader, class lasts for 10 minutes. DONT enroll into her class.
Whatever you do, do not take this professor. In a 15 week class she managed to show up on time no more than once or twice if you wanna be nice. never responds to emails, didn't grade our very first assignment till midterms and essays till the last week. None of us knew our grades till the last day of class.
Always showed up late and ended early, harsh grader - average scores were always very low, and although she said my essays were good enough to be published, she never gave them higher than a 98 (with no elaboration as to why). The book we used was required, but you could find PDFs of each short story online. Would only take if you enjoy writing.
This class is pretty chill and laid back and was an easy A for me. There will be a lot of reading in this class, so make sure you get them all done! Essays were pretty easy for me. Professor is often late and can be a little rude but overall loved this class!
I had Professor Baptiste for ENG 111 and ENG 112. The best piece of advice I have for anyone taking her class is PARTICIPATE. During many classes, we read short stories or poems and discussed them as a class afterwards. Professor Baptiste highly encourages participation during these discussions. She's a fair grader and we had to write three essays.
She's a very kind and understanding teacher who is devoted to making sure kids understand the finer points of literature. If you interact with her in class a lot she will like that a lot. She is also very open, if you have an idea for something else to do for a project, just email her and it'll most likely be accepted.
We had some great class discussions and was open to talk about ideas you had. She is very easy to understand because she gives clear introductions. I only wished she would have given more feedback on the essays so I could know how to improve my writing but overall I found the class interesting and learn a lot from her.
Enjoyed the lectures and content covered. Professor was very enthusiastic about the content and clearly knew the subject matter very well. The only downside to this class was that there was only like 5 grades in the gradebook which made it very hard to improve.
I found the lectures to be very informative and enjoyable. In addition to her enthusiasm about the content, the professor demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter.
the absolute most horrible professor. I never had a teacher that's this bad about posting instructions for essays due the next week, never responds to emails or canvass messages. always late class (and it's online) she's very controversial and loves to argue with students. overall DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
Professor is very punctual but very open to giving another opportunity if maybe you did wrong the first time.
Professor Baptiste is really funny and cool, and she encourages conversations in the class which can be really entertaining. We use a book (costs $) in the class from where we read every short story/poem. Overall easy class and good Professor!
A very chill teacher
Rarely started and ended class on time, and would take a long time to grade assignments and respond to emails
Please organize yourselves and enjoy the class!
She is a truly great teacher. She loves hearing different ideas students have and she does her absolute best to help her students grow.
This class only has view assignments if you wanna save time and do well on those!! I will say take that class I will definitely recommend it!
Prof. Chalet is funny and cool. She loves reading African-American literature and discussing it. You need to wait for 15 min-20 min for class. She does take her time to grade. I just got my first essay grade on the final week :( There aren't many assignments in ENG 253. We only did two essays and a few discussions for 15 weeks.
Try to follow all the instructions and you will be fine but be prepared to double-check your paper.
not too bad, only have 2 essays but other than that if you give a medium amount of effort you should get an A. She is somewhat pretty late for most of the classes but shes reasonable with the homework and the amount of work she gives.
overall it was a good class, had 2 essays couple of discussions, and an easy final project. The only Con is she is always late for class, and grades things late.
Her class is very straightforward and simple however if you miss any assignments you will see it in your final grade.
it was just very hard to understand her and she didn't explain her assignments very well.
She's fair about grading and letting us re-do our assignments and wants to see more potential when students are participating in class
The professor is fair about grading, letting us re-do our assignments, and she wants to see more from us when participating in class.
I don't normally rate professors but I felt the need to for this one. Very disorganized, late for class, and leaves the classroom for 30+ minutes during class. If you have anxiety, don't take her. She calls out students randomly to answer questions. Does not answer emails, lazy with grading on time, and provides zero information on her Canvas page.
She's a good professor. She's also a tough grader, but she gives you a second chance to improve your grade. You have to participate no matter what.
She's a good professor. She's also a tough grader, but she gives you a second chance to improve your grade. You have to participate no matter what. She's often late for class and grades late but it's okay for me.
She takes a really long time to grade and gives almost no feedback. Always late, though we often ended early (take that how you will). Read to ourselves in the class, then discussed. She will call on people, but only when there aren't volunteers. Wants active discussions, but doesn't do much to foster it. Hybrid assignments were actually enjoyable.
Be prepared to read 20-30 pages for class. Online discussion and videos. Say something in class. Add to the conversation it helps at the end of the semester.
Be prepared to read 20-30 pages per class. Homework consists of papers and online discussions about videos. Say something in class it helps at the end of the semester.
She is good and understanding Professor. She is not a tough grader. There aren't so many assignments, which I liked. You need to buy two textbooks for this course. Also, get ready to read and make sure you do well on those assignments as they are few in numbers.
She is great and pretty lenient, but she takes a long time to grade assignments.
This professor was incredibly unorganized and was felt like she was not prepared most of the time. She did not teach well, but class was tolerable.
Professor Baptiste included insightful readings about the different perspectives of people while discussing themes that are relevant to our generation's experiences.
Professor Baptiste is a very good teacher. She explains everything thoroughly and with patience. The class requires two book volumes so get ready to spend some amount of money. Overall, I really liked this class and the professor, I highly recommend it.
Good professor with interesting assignments you just need to pay attention.
This professor is amazing, and I enjoyed taking her class. She is generous and gives you a chance to turn in late work if you show up and make an effort. You will get an A if you submit all of your work on time and pay attention. I'd take her again. Thank you, professor!
Very easy grader. She doesnt overwhelm you with work at all either. Take her to save your grade!
Straight forward with class; mandatory lecture, steady flow of assignments, and light on late penalties. She's chill and never is problematic, unless YOU are. (no one ever messed around and found out tho.) All in all I can't say any cons as shes really nice and liked her class.
Professor cares about her students. Some writing but not too crazy.
She is a very good teacher. I am glad to have her as my teacher. She is very helpful and caring to her student.
Although the class is very essay and writing intensive, it is never too much.
The professor is a nice and easy going person. There are class discussions and participation. She does late grade assignments and not many feedback but it's a good class.
overall not a bad class she teaches the material well and clearly. My only complaint is that she takes a little bit to grade assignments. other than that good class good professor.
Professor Jean picked out fun things to read. She is easy to talk to but you need to communicate. A lot of her assignments are essays. Lastly, participation is essential.
If you like modern-day reading this would be a great class for you. Grading is slow but it will get done. The class assignments are essays and projects. I personally liked this professor.
Be prepared to do lots of reading and analysis of the stories you read with the class. Professor Jean-Baptiste appreciates hearing everyone's critical analysis, but if she doesn't receive much participation, she'll start calling on people. Overall, the class was easy and fun, and I would take her class again!
Professor is amazing
The professor is extremely lenient on grades and turning in assignments for students who work and just forgets to turn in assignments on time.
This professor was very unorganized, responding to student emails after the assignments were due. Very unorganized and seemed as if teaching the class was just a side thought.
Though I received an A+... this professor: > is LAZY in her teaching style (wastes class time by having students read) > uses the YT channel "CrashCourse Mythology" instead of actually teaching > is SLOOOW to grade essays (6 WEEKS for the first essay) > and has a CONNIPTION anytime someone asks about an assignment. WORST professor ever! STAY AWAY!
There were not many assignments or essays (total of 6-7 assignments) for the semester. Takes a week or 2 to grade. She showed up to zoom meetings 10 minutes late every class. All you do is read things from the textbook and use those readings to write essays. Textbook: mandatory. Fairly easy and simple class. Easy A.
One of my fav professors at nova! i love her, shes an easy A and u could tell shes a good person! she really cares abt her students and shes a good teacher overall
Awesome professor who cares about her students and made me a better writer! Best seven weeks ever!
