Great guy but hard exams. You really need to know the material. He expects short answers for the question but finding that answer is not really easy. Once he explained it, feel like I should have known. Probably that is why I am a student :-)

He is by-far the best professor I've taken. He ACTUALLY cares about students and has an enormous passion for the material. I will genuinely miss this course. Though the exams didn't have outlines, he was extremely helpful and unlike other professors actually WANTS students to succeed. I usually left his class smiling, :) even when I got a bad grade

Extremely caring and helpful professor, he is a good man. Lectures are very informative and he makes sure the class is on point before he moves on to the next subject. He is willing to help you after class in his office with questions and is very thorough in helping and makes sure you understand! I am very grateful.

C.A. Lets you know that he's more concerned about what he can teach you not what a grade shows on paper. That makes for a very useful learning environment and lets you know he's there for you.

This is a programming class. So get ready to program. Yes. he expects some previous programming knowledge because you need to have csc130 or better to take this class. if you need homework helps, just talk to him and he will help you out. Of course he doesn't tell the answer but he will guide you in the correct direction

C.A. has become one of my favorite instructors. You need to read the book and come to class prepared. Yes the material is difficult, but he thoroughly covers each topic and genuinely seems concerned about whether or not you learn the material. Step into his office if you don't understand something. Homework assignments are challenging.

Amazing help outside of class

A nice friendly guy but very hard exams. Just by knowing material, you cannot get a good grade. His exam questions are tricky and need lot of thinking. He is always willing to help though. All you need to do is go and talk to him. He is not greedy to give points but you need to prove that you know the material. I think his C is worth than most As.

Very understanding and generous. Do the work and read the book and you will do well.

CA is great! He comes to class each day with the energy of a squirrel on speed. He thoroughly goes over the topics in his lecture and is more than happy to help outside of the classroom. He grades fairly and leniently. The exams are difficult, but you can more than make up for them with the assignments. He isn't that much terrible!

Took 230 and 330 both with him. 230 was easy but I struggled with 330. I wish he picked a different book for 330 though. Homework are easy (except one). He explained algorithms in class and homework includes putting various pieces together to build, say a data structure. This gave a solid foundation of Java collection API and how classes interact.

He prepares you well for the next class. He is willing to help you, if you show that you are willing to do the same from your side. Material is very hard, at least for me, but he gave the warning at the beginning of the semester that if you don't work you fail. I guess this the nature of the CS.

His exams are HARD. I mean really HARD but his intention is to make students learn. He always concerns about students and willing to go beyond and help. He could have easily given me a (C-) and make me to take the class again next semester BUT he didn't. He always push students who are in the border line. Thank you CA. I owe you.

Make sure you know CSC130 material well. This course covers 20 times more content than 130. This is not his fault and he has been assigned to do it. He tries his best to cover all which is needed in CSC330. Of course, students supposed to practice and be familiar with the covered material. My advice: Just work before complaining about him.

He did a wonderful job in this semester with the amount of time (so many snow days). Due to the limited time, he even gave the opportunity to take the midterm home. I am not really sure what else can he do to help students. Students should take this class seriously. Most of them fail because they compare this to 130.

He is an amazing teacher but his class can feel overwhelming at first due to the fast pace. Very caring and helpful if you are a student that actually tries!

Great Professor!

CA is a good professor, albeit with some caveats; he is quite demeaning when it comes to his personality. 230 is a very difficult course for those coming in with minimal knowledge of 130; if you don't try, you will fail, and CA will let you know. Exams are INCREDIBLY difficult but if you give it your all, you'll succeed and he lets you know that.

Great professor but expectation is very high. Exams will make you cry BUT he is very lenient when grading. His A is a real A, if you can get one.

I love CA, but his classes are hard. He expects you to understand this material so you don't look like a dummy when you graduate looking for a job. This is one of the tougher classes I've ever taken. I would be prepared to seek help from tutors or CA, who is always available to his students.

Extraordinary professor. Cannot stress the tag "caring" enough. Come to class on time, participate, it's not that much terrible. Tell him to slow down when he gets ahead of himself, he will gladly do so IF you ask. Had him for 330/261, wish he could teach higher level courses. Definitely will miss him as a professor.

Excellent teacher but his bar is very high. His lab assignments and exams are *very* hard. If you just come unprepared, you cannot do them at all. He will prepare you for the long road ahead as a programmer. He seems very tough but if you talk to him you will realize he is very concern about students. ps: Do not call him "hey". He hates it!

Extremely caring man. Always trying go beyond to help students. Seems *very* tough but will listen and help you, if you situation is genuine. Well knowledgable of what he is doing because he has taught the entire sequence (130, 230 and 330). Exams/ assignments are very hard but kind enough to give lot of extra credits when class average is low.

Chandana is a wonderful professor. Many people think he is "rude", but this is just because he is a straightforward kind of guy. He does not mess around. He gives the material in a very straightforward manner. Although he is like that, he is very nice and will help you if you are struggling at all. He made learning my first language easy and fun.

C.A. is a great professor. If you need help you can go to his office hours or talk to him after class and he will help you through any issue you might be having. He may seem like he is being tough but he is just making sure that the students actually want to be there. He also gives occasional extra credit but you have to work for it.

He knows what he is talking about + beyond. Very good at braking hard concepts to easily understandable parts. Always enthusiastic about coming to class and teaching. Funny most of the time but doesn't tolerate lazy students. He doesn't hesitate to point you in the class and address you, if you are late or not paying attention.

Lot of work. He teaches well but his exam are Harvard level. Do not expect an easy pass. Do not even think about taking the class with him if you are lazy. Very upfront but kind. If your situation is genuine he will help you. He has no sympathy for cheaters. Learned a LOT from his class. Funny but only sometimes. Thanks CA!

Get ready to work. Most students find his personality very demanding. His bar is very high. I don't think anybody got more than 60% for his final. He cares about students and helps them. Very lenient about grading. Otherwise half of the class would have been failed.

CA is my favorite professor. He made 230 easy. Everybody loves him (as long as you don't have him for an intro class). It is not too very much terrible.

Great professor with a kind heart. Very direct and seems very rude but compassionate for students who really deserve. Absolutely hate plagiarism and have zero tolerance. Knows the subject in-depth.

Excellent professor. Have never seen a dedicated educator like this. Now all our classes are online due to COVID-19. He genuinely cares about students. Very direct. If you are a student who don't like direct answers, you might not like him. His replies will pierce your heart at the wrong moment. Very helpful if you ask the help at the right time where you can bring your grade back. Seems very rude but he is trying to train you for a unforgiving world. One day, you will thank him.

He is an excellent teacher. He knows how to break down things and teach hard concepts. Very nice humble person but seems very tough. If you don't come to the lecture, it will be impossible to understand some concepts because he doesn't always use the book.

Absolutely fantastic. Had CA for 130 and 230 and he was absolutely fantastic, exams are EXTREMELY difficult but he will help you with whatever you need help with, he is there for you every step of the way. However, he hates cheaters, so don't cheat.

He is a gem. Teaches really well. Do extra coding sessions weekly outside of the class in his own time. One hell of a dedicated professor. It is quite surprising he hasn't been nominated for any teaching award. Exams and homework are going to make you cry. They are super difficult but he will help you if you ask.

CA is a great professor that will respond to any question via email within the day. He will help you understand the concepts he teaches. He will continually check if you and your peers are following what he is teaching. He is clear about what will be on his tests and assignments.

Just like any other human being Prof. CA is not perfect but if you are to complain about him, sit back and think twice. Think about how much he tried to help you. Think about all the coding sessions he did from 8.30pm to 9.30pm free. Think about how many times he helped you at mid night when stuck. After you answer all, then go and write the review

CA is strict, BUT is a passionate prof who wants his students to succeed. He offers a lot of help and is very understanding of his students. Utilize his office hours and codding sessions because he really wants to help. He cares. His work is hard, but it is quite worth it. Talk to him if you have any questions immediately. A wonderful teacher and a wonderful human being. Very understandable. Do not try to plagiarize. He will help you if he can as long as what you are asking is not unfair to others.

Are you tired of CA? Does he give hard homework? Do you think you should have never taken the class with him? Wait until you go to 330. You will realize how much he has taught you and how much he cares about you. Don't judge the book by the cover. This is my two cents about Prof. CA.

Excellent prof. Accessible outside of the class. His exams and assignments are really hard. I mean really hard. If you want an easy grade, do not even think about taking his class. Pros: Very up front. Cares about you and your future, absolutely hate plagiarism (will fail you if you get caught without any hesitation), Cons: None

Without prerequisite knowledge, you cannot take his class. He helps as much as possible but it is a lot to take. His homework worth doing but they are in the hard side. He spends his time free for coding sessions. Use them. If you can pass his course, you can be proud of your self. Do not complain. He warns about this in his readme file.

I just received my grade on Canvas. I was expecting the worst because I did not have enough points to a C **but** CA was really sympathetic towards students. Specially with COVID and all the other issues, he is a man with a good heart. I know, I need to work hard but I cannot thank him enough. He is a gem (with tough love!).

CA really knows his stuff and wants his students to succeed. I took a synchronous online class, and didn't need to buy the textbook since he explained things really well. His assignments/tests can be super tough, but he was very open to helping us out and gave plenty of time. He focuses more on concepts and creating things than memorization.

Although he has a heavy accent, he always asks "are you following?" Even at night, he can reply to emails within tens of minutes

He came to our class as a substitute. After a few classes, we realized he know what he is talking about. He really has a passion to teach. I wish he teaches this class for this semester. It is pretty difficult to teach lower level computer architecture if the instructor has no in depth knowledge. Prof. CA has it.

Excellent prof and knows material well. Do not take his class if you are just trying to pass. You need to take his class only if you want to learn. Excellent coder and shows you skills which are hard to find in books. Emphasis on mathematics a lot and almost all programs are mathematical in nature.

Before blame him, please evaluate yourself and see whether you put time and effort to be successful in this highly competitive field. If not, blame your self rather than him. In my case, I am blaming myself.

Difficult class, but he wants you to pass. He's available 24/7 (yes, really) and although he can be brutally honest, he will never make you feel like an idiot. He wants to learn and to succeed, but he will make you work for it - he doesn't just pass out A's. Don't try to cheat - you'll be caught.

He is an excellent teacher and very kind but brutally honest in his opinions. His exam and assignments are hard but very much worth it. Do not cheat in his classes. If you get caught, he will fail you. He preaches a lot from his life experiences and try to make your a model student. Very humble person.

An excellent prof. He knows his way around the material really well. Down to earth man...I am glad I could take this class with him. Encourages students a lot by telling his life story. Prof. CA is a good man in every aspect. He will make you feel interested about the subject but constructively criticize when you do mistakes. The way he talks might intimidate some because he does not do "smooth" talking. If you do not understand his intentions, you might feel like he is condescending(which is not the case).

CA is strict, but he is the best professor I have encountered so far in CompSci at UNCG who takes the education of his students very seriously. The material will be Hard, but he is always there to help.

If you do not come in with 100% effort, he will catch on and you won't get the grade you want. You have to participate. You don't have to be the smartest person in your class to succeed.

We are talking about Prof. CA here. Excellent teaching and excellent but super hard assignments that work out all of your neurons. Do not take a class with him unless you are fully committed and plan to learn the material. If that is the case, you will regret dearly.

Best comp sci professor at UNCG hands down. He teaches the material in a way that trivializes difficult concepts and will only ever test on what he teaches. DO NOT CHEAT, they WILL know and you WILL be failed. Show up to class, try to participate, he's available at all hours for any questions and is more than fair when grading. Take him if you can.

Just Excellent! The most Wonderful teacher in the entire Computer Science dept at UNC Greensboro.

A lot of work but they are worth it. If you want to learn assembly coding (which is the intention of the course), take the class with him. Do not take the class with him, if you just want to pass. He is very lienent when grading but he assigned programming assignments every week to solidify the understanding. You cannot cut corners with him.

He is good. I mean really good. Take him if you can. You will learn a lot of subject material in addition to the good advices in general. Extremely difficult exams but grade leniently. Love you Prof. CA. Thanks for the semester.

Great Teacher

What can I say? He is good. Very blunt and tell you what you may not want to hear BUT he is telling the truth. No sugar coating. Teached really well and grades very liniently. Need to work hard if you want an "A" BUT he rarely fail students.

He struggled in class due to the fact that students have different backgrounds. He had to explain CSC 250 material to students before he moves to 350. He is good at exaplning very dry theoritical concepts using real world examples. Very humbple person. Seems really a tough but a very kind person. He will help you out in anyway possible. Awesome instructor. He cares very deeply about the success of his students to the point that he gets quite emotional. One of the only instructors that seems to take his position really seriously. Always available to help and rewards hard work. Highly recommend for any course.

I would recommend this course if you honestly know what you're doing in Java. As a first-time java user, I had a hard time trying to adjust to his assignments. This is definitely a course where you always need to be practicing outside of class. However, his teaching style is by far one of the best. He truly deserves a lot of respect, he's great!

He really knows what he is talking about. The way that he explained procedure calling using pass by value and pass by references is exceptional. He used C code first and converted all of them to corresponding assembly code. He clearly showed the remembrance of them brilliantly. Take him when you can BUT get ready to work.

Commanding an impressive knowledge of programming, CA is able to explain concepts across multiple languages all tying back to the assembly we are learning. He is incredibly funny, deeply engaging during lectures, and very open to helping students (under reasonable conditions). If you're in comp sci, you owe it to yourself to take his course.

Make sure you come to classes. Do not take him UNLESS you are willing to put the effort. Do not cheat. He is nice BUT very strict on plagiarism. No need to cheat. He is very lenient and always curve the grades. There is no doubt that his work is on the hard side BUT rewarding. You will learn a LOT! Very direct when he wants to tell something.

He knows how to explain difficult concepts of theory and related to how they are used in practice. I never thought I would start liking discrete math, but CA make them enjoyable to the point where you start liking them. He is brutally honest when he comments and sometimes looks intimidating. Fatcs tells otherwise and he is a kind/generous person.

A very kind individual. He also presents him self as a regular person rather than so called "professor". In fact, he tells not to call him "professor" on the first day of the class. His exams and work is difficult but he adjusted the grades so that most of the students pass the course with C or better.

CA is the man. If he could teach all courses, I'd be sure to sign up for all of his classes. He may seem like an intimidating person, but he genuinely cares about his students and wants to see us succeed. The material for this course was super dry, but CA was able to break it down easily enough for everyone to follow along and participate.

As usual, CA knows what he is talking about. This is a lot of material but he explains crucial parts really well. This is my 3rd time taking a class with CA, so far he never failed the expectations. If I am not mistaken, this is the first time he is teaching Operating Systems and he is handling the class like he has been doing it forever. A+ Prof.

An extremely kind man. An excellent teacher. Knows how to delever the content so students can understand. I can't say anything negative of him at all except that he is super smart. Sometimes he takes some time to understand what you are asking BUT after he gets that part he is spot on the answer.

He is an excellent professor. He is very humble and will help you out if you are in a tough spot. He always encourages students telling stories from his own life experiences. He is really good at explaining difficult computer architecture concepts using simple examples. A+ professor from every angle.

This is just a reply to the previous rating. Yes.. he said that if he catches you cheating he will have to ruin your education. There is nothing wrong about saying it because if you are caught cheating, any instructor would ruin your academic life. The only difference is that he mentioned it before happening. A+ prof.

This is a challenging course, and low-level programming is inherently difficult. CA has been making consistent efforts to support all students—even demonstrating how to zip a file almost daily. Yet, these same students often skip classes and repeatedly ask the same question: “How do I zip this?”

Why does everyone keep calling him an A+ professor? I mean don't get me wrong he is the best professor I've ever had but I've never heard anyone call someone an "A+" professor before. Also I have no idea what other people are talking about, I've had far harder classes than Prof CA's, honestly he makes everything as comically as easy as possible.

He is an excellent teacher and deeply cares about the success of students. I am not really sure what the person below is talking about him yelling. The class is large and he needs to talk loud so people in the back can hear. Nowadays, people always find something to complain about even when they are offered the best. Sigh!

Please do not take him if you are not ready to work. It is a nightmare to work out his assignments. Hopefully, I will be smater than before at the end of the semester. Excellent content delivery and he know what he is talking about. If you skip even a single class, you are missing a lot.

CA is by far the best professor I have had at UNCG thus far. 261 is the second course I have taken with him (after 230).He is very passionate during his lectures which makes them very engaging and easy to comprehend despite the difficult content of the course. He is willing to help out students as long as they are willing to put in the work. GOAT!

CA is an excellent professor. He cares deeply about the content & about his students. He was always willing to help. He moves very fast, so be ready to lock in. Very clear expectations. Tries to ensure no one who actually tries will fail. Passionate, energetic lectures. Throws some light banter in, so don't get offended. Probably the best CSC prof.

Always take CA's class. He cares about his students. He is very accessible for office hours and tries to think of different ways to explain concepts. He brings in outside anecdotes to keep people engaged as well. If you follow the lectures and start all assignments early you are basically guaranteed an A. He wants you to succeed!!

CA is probably the best professor I have ever had. Very energetic and passionate about what he teaches. He cares very much about his students and "treats us like his children" in his words. I wish every professor was like this.
