She's very aggressive when she teaches. She goes way to fast and over complicates everything. She can be okay sometimes, but I wouldn't recommend her.
not helpful -- explanations in class were sometimes actually wrong
Class was easy as long as you attended. She did teach a little fast, but it was easy to keep up with and she explained everything very clearly. Study guides were extremely helpful for exams. As long as you study for exams and do your homework, you can get an A.
hands down best math teacher ever. Explains everything thoroughly. Sit in the front of the class and you will get a good grade. she refreshes your memory in the beginning of each class. group work, weekly quizzes and only 2 exams + final. Great teacher, just do your work and dont be scared to ask questions (she's helpful).
This teacher made math extremely interesting and easy i loved her as a teacher she was just amazing and clear at explaining things, also she would look at your test and hint to you or tell you you did something wrong and allow you to fix it before. AMAZING, highly recommended:))) although missing class is hell don't miss or you may fall behind.
Best MAT 210 teacher at ASU. It takes a couple classes to get used to her accent but she goes over every hw assignment problem. Weekly classwork and quizzes are no problem. You should be easily prepared for each test, she even helps during a test if you made a mistake. Definitely recommend her!!!!
The course is a hybrid course. The professor is helpful but sometimes goes too fast. My only critique is that she will review information for a test (such as the final) and then not put it on there after stressing its importance. This is can be aggravating. Otherwise, it is most likely the best MAT 210 course.
I highly recommend this professor. She goes over examples of every type of problem you'll see on your homework, and prepares you for quizzes and exams fairly well. For the final, she emphasized some things that weren't on there, but other than that I enjoyed taking this class with her. If you put in the effort, it's an easy A/B.
Was a hard class, but the teacher made it slightly easy. She really wants everyone to pass and she cares about her students. I received a C, because I didn't study much for the final. STUDY FOR THE FINAL! HER REVIEW IS VERY HELPFUL AND SO IS THE STUDY GUIDE
Great teacher who will go over every possible example. The examples in class mirror the problems in hw, quiz, & tests. Her accent is not hard to understand as mentioned before.
Very energetic and very caring. Just make sure you write down everything she puts on the board and you're equipped to get 100% on all homework assignments. She is probably the most helpful professor I've had.
This is one of the best professors ever. She is very helpful. I gave the easiness a 3 because it is very time consuming but the material is very simple if you do all the things she asks. Figure out the study guide questions (and study them) and you will be golden on the exams!
Great professor. The subject matter is a little hard but just copy down all the example problems and don't be afraid to ask questions when she comes around, she's more than happy to help. The TA was very good as well.
I absolutely love her. She's the clearest instructor you could possibly have for this course - always super willing to help out, directly relates what you do in class to the homework, quizzes, and exams. Her method of teaching is very understandable, she takes the time to explain each thing and make sure it is being understood. TAKE HER CLASS.
take her for MAT 117.I dont excel in math, but she is an amazing professor. She is very clear in what she wants, and wants you to pass. Truely cares about the students and wants them to succeed. Can easily say she is the BEST professor ive had so far at ASU. She was so good that i decided i needed to get on here and write her a review
If you hate math and absolutely HAVE to take math then take her class! She is very helpful and will even stay late after class to help you. Best math teacher ever at ASU!!!!
I absolutely loved her, she is so helpful. If you are not the best at math I would highly recommend this professor. I was pretty good at math but still found her lectures clear and informative.
She is so nice and always willing to help. Her accent can make it difficult to understand her sometimes, but she definitely wants all her students to pass.
Passfail. Show up, do the online assignments, and you'll pass. She's there every day and will actively help you if you don't understand something. Great at explaining. When I took the final exam, there was a formatting error and I thought I had failed it- she emailed me the next day that she manually fixed the grade and I had passed. A godsend.
Math is math its hard but I was able to pass. Utilize the study guides they are most helpful. She's a very nice person and is willing to discuss grades.
I absolutely loved Mrs. B! She helped me in so many ways possible. She makes a difficult course such as Calc be so relatable an understandable. She is willing to stay after class to help you out and is extremely straight forward with the content on HW, quizzes and exams. If I could have her for all future math classes I take, I'd be content.
She was a great professor and really knew how to teach the class so everyone would do well. I would recommend her to any future student. You must show up to class. She does similar problems in class that are in the homework.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Ms. Banerjee! She is really nice, smart, and really really caring about her students. She's always there to help her students in any way she can. Really enjoyed taking MAT 210 and LEARN quite a lot under her helpful guidance. People, you will miss out on a great professor if you don't take classes with her. Thank You Ms. Banerjee
LOVE her! Always prompt to help her students. Attendance is mandatory EVERYDAY, Quizzes are weekly, as well as class work but you will work in groups for those and she checks it so most get 100%. Two tests, and final. Class problems were very similar to quizzestests, would reccomend
She tries to upload examples to help with the homework questions that people asked for help with, but it's very hard to follow the examples, and sometimes you can't even read them because she writes too light.
I took MAT 210 twice at ASU and barely passed with a C my 2nd time.. Math is not my best subject and I was super scared for 211. But it ended up being so much easier than any of my other classes def recomend this professor and online with her so easy!
Prof. Banerjee is great! She is extremely helpful and very fast in responding to emails. She uploads examples and does what she can for her class to be successful. I took MAT210 twice and passed with a C, I was scared of taking a math class online for only 7.5 weeks but I passed with an A. I strongly recommend her class and would take her again.
She was extremely sweet and a very good teacher. Everything she did made sense and she knows how to make you understand it. The accent is actually really comical. One of the diamonds in the rough of all the math professors.
SHE WAS AWESOME. I took the class with a different professor last semester, and withdrew because i understood nothing. With her everything makes sense! All quizzesand exams are problems we've gone over, so that was helpful too
Chandrani was amazing. After last semester in which my professor refused to help us during class, claiming: "You should have watched the lectures online", Chandrani helped us every day in class. Also prepared us well for the exams, and offered extra credit as an incentive to get adequate time for exams. Other than the accent, she was great.
Professor Banerjee was AWESOME. She is a no-nonsense, no-b.s. type of teacher. You get in what you put into it and she was great at making sure we all stayed on track. I will always look to see if she is teaching my future math classes. I recommend highly.
WONDERDUL teacher Makes everything super clear, and tries to make sure every student passes. Goes over clear examples that relate directly to the HW (which you get 5% extra if you couple one day early) and tests. All you have to do is pay attention in class and take notes and you'll easily pass. kids in class failed this course before but passed
One of the best professors at ASU. Easy going, extremely helpful and easy to comprehend. Highly recommended. The class consists of classwork that is fairly similar to the weekly quizzes. For the homework you use a website known as webassign. The notes and examples you do in class are exactly the same as in the homework. Very good professor!!
She may seem tough at first, but after the first few days she is laid back. ALL her lectures are the similar problems to the homework, quizzes, & tests. She is also very helpful if you go to her office hours & she makes sure you grasp the concepts. Easy way to put it, if you don't do well on the homeworks, you won't do well in the class.
I took this as a session B course and like and session A or B courses it requires you to stay on top of things. But this class isn't hard to do that. The study guides are the same exact questions as the exams but different numbers. Also, the online exams are proctored by ProctorU which is an online service where people watch you take the exam
Professor Banerjee is a good teacher and really cares for her students. It might seem fast paced at first but you get use to the quiz and homework schedule. The class is easy if you pay attention, and she prepares you very well for the homework and quizzes. I would definitely take her again. She learns everyones names and is an excellent teacher.
Professor Banerjee really cares that students get their assignments done on time and for an online class, this can be very helpful. She will post multiple announcements and send emails to remind you about due dates. She is the best teacher I've had for college level math and if you're confused, she'll answer quickly to help.
I did not need this class for my major, however I stuck with it because she wants you to succed. I had a lot of trouble with calculus but I would go to her office hours and she was more than helpful. For anyone that is worried about taking MAT210 I defienetly recommend her as a teacher as she is there for her students and cares.
I absolutely suggest this professor, I was the only one of my friends to pass math with a B+. the course has 3 exams and one cumulative final. the class consists of homework due each week (online) and a weekly quiz or group classwork (in class). You can earn 5 extra credit points on each homework if you finish it 24 hours before its due. get her!!
Professor Banerjee helped me understand math for the first time in years! She is very willing to help you if you don't understand a topic. Her weekly course is very regular: class notes, group work in class, and a quiz. Her expectations are very clear and the tests are over what we have done in class. Definitely would take this class again!
Professor Banerjee is THE BEST! Her lectures helped me understand the material completely. Although there are a lot of quizzes, they really do help you prepare for the exam. If you do the homework, you will do well on the quizzes, and if you do well on the quizzes you will ace the tests. She is really dedicated to making sure all students succeed.
If you want to pass MAT-210 with full knowledge about the material and great feedback from a great professor. Banerjee is the must-have professor for MAT-210. She is very passionate about math. She is very friendly and will love to help you with math problems.
One of the best math teachers at ASU. I have had some horrible ones and she is so helpful. She gives you class work and quizzes which is exactly what the tests will consist of. She explains everything really well and truly wants the students to succeed. She will make you talk to her if you are getting bad grades in her class. Take her!
Heard stories about 210 so I was pretty nervous taking this class but she is a great professor who is very straightforward in giving the material. Show up to class and take the notes she writes on the screen and you'll be good to go. Not necessarily an easy A but as long as you try you shouldn't be struggling. Super glad I ended up taking her.
The class I took was online, so there was not a lot of interaction. However, Professor Banerjee was helpful and prompt whenever I had a question. I took her Brief Calculus Class at ASU, and it was tough. The subject matter is hard and there is a lot of homework, but that is just the nature of that class. Assignments and deadlines were clear.
Absolutely love this professor! She is clear what she wants from the students and she WANTS you to pass and actually learn the material. She knows what she is doing but be prepared to work and work at a fast pace. I have never been good at math and I actually enjoyed Math this semester and knew what I was learning.
Professor Banerjee was the best math professor I have ever had. I have never been great at math, but her class was the first one where I understood the material. Copy down everything she writes in class, as she goes over homework examples. Those examples will show up on the quizzes and exams. Also, she is very helpful in office hours.
she teaches at very inconsistent rate shell dive really deep into a concept to help you understand and then she'll barely scratch the surface of another one, also her accent doesn't help and she has trouble controlling her emotions shell randomly get really fed up and pissed at students
I took her hybrid class. At first, it was difficult to understand what she wanted. She allows you to go at your own pace. It is required to complete 30 topics and 9 hours of class each week. It is not too difficult with a little effort. Make sure to try on the initial knowledge check because that determines how close you are to ending the class.
Fantastic, she really cares about the students even in bigger sections she learns every student and they're name. She encourages you to do the work and watches out for you. Extra credit for submitting homeworks early.
Took the honors section, very caring, watches out for you but encourages you to work hard; the honors section only required two group projects with a presentation. I am horrible at math, but the rest of the class got A's
I took MAT 117 with Prof. Banerjee, which was held in a large computer lab with 100 students using an online math program. Still, Prof. Banerjee knew who I was and kept tabs on my progress. No lectures, but homework was 30 hrs/wk (required by dept). She was flexible about scheduling my exams and I was able to finish the course a month early!
Professor Banerjee was a great teacher, and I appreciated her teaching style and the way she operated her class. 5% extra credit is offered if you do your online homework 24 hours in advance which is ridiculously easy to do every time. I was in the honors section of MAT210, so there were two group projects which weren't as enjoyable. Easy A though.
Incredibly rude to both myself and other students. I specifically remember asking her a question on how the class works near the begging of the semester and being scolded about an entirely different topic. Her class was fairly easy, but she doesn't do much, mostly walking around a computer lab and making sure students are doing their work.
Professor Banerjee was hands down the best professor I have ever had in college. Her class is challenging but she pushes you to work hard. If you're willing to learn, she will be one of the best professors you have.
She sets you up for success. You do Quizzes and ClassWork throughout the week, so by the time it's close to exam day, you can use those materials to study! She cares about you doing well & is very available for office hours. If you miss a quiz, she allows makeups which is nice. Def my favorite professor at Tempe! I suck at math and did well!
Banerjee is a good math instructor. She taught concepts in a way that I understood and was able to to focus the material. The examples were like the homework which was like the exam. HOWEVER she routinely showed up late to class and sometimes had classwork that went past end time. Dont let her disrespect your time with this crap. She has 50 minutes
Professor Banerjee is an incredible math professor who always made what can be a difficult class a highly enjoyable one. She teaches examples straight from the homework and tests, and gives 5% extra credit if hw is turned in early. Take the class with her if you can!
Simple class material. I didn't learn anything that I hadn't already learned in high school. Can't believe this is actually a college class that counts as 3 credit hours. Banerjee gives good lectures and does examples that are in the homework. Easy weekly quizzes, so if you don't like to go to class, you won't pass.
Professor Banerjee was by far my favorite math professor I've ever had. Her grading criteria is very clear, and she reminds you of upcoming due dates. Her exams are exactly like the hw/cw and she gives 5% extra credit if you finish the homework 24 hours early (which I would 100% recommend doing).I took her for MAT 211 as well, she's the best.
She makes the class content easy to learn and she really wants all of her students to succeed in her class. She prepares her students very well for tests and quizzes.
You can work ahead, I finished the class 3 weeks early. TA's are available each class period to help you. Clear and fair grading criteria, you get a lot of points for completing homework (note that is COMPLETING so these are easy points). 2 tests and a final (cumulative). Do the homework, practice for tests, you'll get an A.
Banerjee was absolutely amazing and wants everyone to succeed in the class. Go to every lecture and make sure to complete the homework early for the extra credit. She basically gives you free points for the group work in class! Tests she outlines the material you need to know clearly. She gave me an A when I was at an A minus. really amazing woman
Not very understanding at times. ALEKs system took some time to understand. Just keep on the homework and don't stop. She didn't teach anything other than informing you of upcoming deadlines. Chance to finish course early which is nice (personally finished a month early and didn't have to set foot again). Get ready to spend 20+hrs a week studying.
Awesome, easy to understand, always available for help, cares for students
Prof. Banerjee is a great teacher. Everything that you are quizzed, tested on, or have homework for is covered in the lectures. Get 5% extra credit on all hws if done 24 hrs before the due date. She is easy to understand and does her best to make sure you know the material.
Babe Rhee is awesome! Super helpful!
My favorite class this semester. I took it online and homework was not used as a grade but was used to unlock your tests. You have unlimited attempts to get the best grade possible on quizzes and even on the midterm and final review. The midterm and final are the only tests that you only have one attempt at but they are just like the review exams!
You have classwork, a quiz, and homework due each. There are three exams throughout the semester and then a final exam at the end. Banerjee does a good job making the lectures reflect the homework and the exams. The worst part of the honors version of this class is the projects, as her instructions are vague, but she grades strictly on them.
I took math 211 as a session B and it was not bad just be prepared to spend time doing a lot of math homework. The quizzes are not bad and the midterm and final are identical to the study guide just different numbers. Also proctoring on the 2 exams. Overall this class is very much self-taught and you have to work for your grade.
Great teacher! She sets up class to pass. I took 210 and 211 online and got an A+ in both. Close to 90% of the grade is the midterm practice, midterm, final practice, and final. The practices are unlimited attempts, highest score counts, while the midterm/final is 1 attempt, but is around 20 questions STRAIGHT from the review.
the professor is nice but this class is run by the TA 's she walks around and if you are nice so is she. but the TA are NOT helpful AT ALL i always have to wait for the professor. math is not my subject so i had some difficultly in this class. if you are wanting a lecture class dont take this you are teaching yourself the material which is annoying
If you put the work and do the homework youll pass. The grades you get on final and midterm are going to decide your grade for the class, the other assignments only count for a small portion of your grade.
The beginning was fine, then towards the end, it all got crammed. There's lots of quizzes and only three tests, so it's easy to not get a very good grade. She tests pretty heavy, lots of material covered over a short period. She's willing to help if you reach out. Long lectures, lots of material and quizzes. Good class if math is your main focus
Strict about attendance. All mat 117 is online through aleks. TAs are your main source of interaction and help. This course should be fully online
She is such a dedicated amazing instructor, however, math is my worst subject so for me the pace was way too fast and I had trouble keeping up. I had a D in that class but she personally met me outside of class and gave me tips on what I needed to do in order to pass the class. She clearly cares about her students and she is very knowledgeable.
Always enjoyed going to Banerjee's lectures! She moves through the content very quickly and if you haven't taken calculus before, you may have to do some work outside of class to keep up. Also, She's a tough grader for the group projects but the requirements aren't outlined very well. However, she's an amazing person that cares about her students!
Chandrani was such an awesome professor. She tells you exactly what you need to know, and her lectures are very clear. Attendance counts because there are quizzes and classworks, but she really cares about her students and wants all of them to succeed. Take her class!
Really enjoyed being in the class. Make sure to always reach your topic goals and stay on track.
Banerjee's class was so great! It is obvious she truly cares about the success of her students and their ability to truly understand the material. She also drops the lowest quiz, homework, and classwork. My only complaints are that she taught incredibly fast (it is easy to get used to) and gives little direction on projects but harshly grades them.
I loved taking her MAT210 Honors section. She's by far the best math professor I've ever had.
Banerjee had a schedule for how each week would go but she didn't usually manage time well enough to get through it all. the class was held back late several times working on group work, quizzes, or tests. She was hard to understand and was messy in how she did lectures and notes. If you miss one class its really hard to catch up.
Banerjee is so amazing. Please take her if you need to take any math. She has an attendance sheet at the beginning of the class that counts toward your final grade. The material was fairly simple to do and there are group quizzes usually every week. She has a slight accent but she is a great professor and I loved her teaching style.
One of the worst professors Ive ever had in my life, she clearly knows about math but does an absolutely terrible job doing it and goes wayyyy too fast for the class as a whole to understand. The worst part is that there is a clear language barrier between her native and the English language, literally no one can understand. Beware of this prof.
I took the honors version of the class and she went really fast so I had to work really hard in order to keep up. I had only taken pre-calc before this class and most of the people in my class took AP Calc and the class was a breeze for them. She is really funny and you get out of class early a lot so that's a plus.
Best math professor ever!! She's witty and funny and gives good examples. Slight accent but she is always clear anyways..... really recommend her
I found Professor Banerjee to be very unapproachable. Tone is hard to interpret online, but I felt that she talked down to her students and made them feel bad for asking questions. Her RPNow expectations were ridiculously strict too. The course is difficult, and you basically have to teach yourself with the help of someone else's lectures.
Alright, so a lot of people hate on Prof. Banerjee; but this is all misguided. I sat in the front rows every class and tried to answer most of the questions. Let me tell you SHE LOVES YOU IF YOU PARTICIPATE! Seriously, talk to her, participate in class, and USE THE TUTORING CENTER. She loved me and ended up rounding my grade from an 89 to a 94!
Professor was VERY familiar with material and emphasized what we needed to learn for exams. Class material and homework structure were excellent. She always made time for engaged students! I took a condensed summer class without having calculus experience and never struggled or wasted time on excess homework. Awesome professor!
Gives 30 subjects of math homework every week, which is easy in the beginning, but ramps up and seems impossible midway through the semester. She doesn't teach, just tells us to watch videos if we're having trouble. All grades are final, so good luck if you bomb a test because you have work to do in other classes as well.
Professor Banerjee is honestly one of the best professors to have for Mat 117. As long as you get Topic Goals done and show up to class you won't have any problems. Show up, do your work, and it's smooth sailing. Great professor if you're doing College Algebra.
I honestly do not understand why this wasn't an online class after taking it. Everything done is online, but the instructor forced us to come to class. Everything is explained good on the program too, so there was no point of asking TAs and instructor for help. She assigned way more homework time than was needed to meet the required topics she set.
I sat in the front row and never missed class and she knew my name and liked me. When I forgot to do some of the homeworks she extended them for me because she knew I tried. When I expressed concern for my grade she basically told me shed give me an A if I didnt have one at the end of the semester. Explains things really well and super approachable
I wasn't too fond of this class, but I can't blame the professor. I'm not a math person. That being said, the class was practically online using the ALEKS system. Do the given amount of topics by the end of the week and you'll be fine. Don't procrastinate. DO THE STUDY GUIDES FOR THE TESTS!! I interacted with the professor twice, so not much to say
Class was completely online. Chandrani wasn't necessarily a bad teacher, but she didn't teach at all. She was more like tech support. Learning materials are online, including tutorial vids and practice problems. Only time you'll use paper in this class is for scratch paper and the occasional problem set. Don't procrastinate or you'll be miserable!
Just being honest, I dropped her class because I couldnt even understand her. She has an accent and she teaches very quickly so if you cant understand what shes even saying its very hard to follow along. She also writes very tiny so make sure you sit in the front
Her teaching style is just doing it in front of you for you to teach yourself in the homework, and have notes to look at.
She always seems to be in a rush and is always running late. Takes it out on the class and gets frustrated at her students when uploading (tech issues) isn't going as fast as she wants, even though she was the one who went overtime. Not approachable or understanding. About 11 quizzes, 18 classwork and 4 exams. Its her way or the highway.
This teacher was awful. She was never on time and never prepared for class. Towards the end of the semester she was, on average, running her class 20 minutes over the allotted class period and would always be late to other classes. She was quite unhappy all the time and would not recommend this teacher for anyone.
Professor Banerjee is amazing. I had her for MAT 210 and 211. She responds to emails quickly and is always willing to help with homework problems or any other questions over email or during office hours. She truly works hard. 211 exams are relatively easy if you complete all of the review packet problems and show up to class every day.
There is an in-class assignment almost every day (classwork or quiz), plus one or two homework assignments every week. She moves quickly but is a solid teacher. She doesn't present herself as very accommodating, but if you approach her one-on-one, she will sometimes help out with late assignments or technical errors. Not the greatest, but solid.
If you arent great at math I dont recommend this teacher, she teaches way to fast and there is little time to understand whats going on. There is 1 or 2 HW assignment each week which arent horrible. Takes attendance each class and normally a classwork at end of each class. Graded on 3 tests and a final. Cares about students and offers help.
She is a great professor that gives clear notes and has a great class structure. For every 2-3 sections there is a classwork and the next class will be a short quiz. Her lectures are very clear and are followed by 2-3 homework assignments every week.
Professor Banerjee is a great professor. However, her class is difficult. Show her respect, listen to what she says, take accurate notes, and ask for help when you need it and you will be fine. Her exams are difficult and there is quite a bit of homework. All of which is doable. She really does care and will sit down to help you when needed.
She made alekz my whole life and didnt teach my anything, worst class I have ever taken
The toughest class I have had at Arizona state, if you get the answer but not her way of showing work, its the wrong answer. Tests every week on the same days of taking notes, very minimal time to take the test.
If I could give one star I would, she wasnt understanding or caring at all. It felt like all she did was make people feel dumb and unmotivated, this teacher made me want to drop out of my first week and never come back. She often goes on long rants and punishes people that are doing well because others arent.
This class if difficult, she moves very fast and its hard to follow her notes. The workload isn't bad, there are a couple web assignments each week. However there are class works/quizzes almost every class that are hard to finish in time. She can sometimes be sweet and caring, but also can get mad at the class. Not bad, but wouldn't recommend
This professor talks down to her students, she is horrible when it comes to explaining the concepts that we are confused on, and she makes you feel stupid when you do not understand the material. Banerjee also rushes through the lessons and lectures by just doing the problems straight from the book. She is a nit-picky grader as well.
During this pandemic you would imagine that she would make her workload easier, but she didn't. She taught too fast and the material was too hard and she taught it too fast. I would not recommend she does give 5% extra credit on the homework assignments which is a plus but other than that this class will stress you out
One of the best math professors at ASU. she really wants you to do well so she will help you with the homework and quizzes, she was accessible by email easily. The tests are easier than the review.
Make sure to take notes, complete the Webassign homework immediately, and study for quizzes and tests. If you do these things then you will pass the class and will be on her good side. Make sure to ask questions and only spend money on the online textbook/Webassign class, NOT THE PHYSICAL ONE (for I never used it).
Math is not my strong suit, but professor Banerjee offers great help. She is always willing to meet outside of class time and responds to questions quickly. Overall, she wants her students to succeed, and she cares about the class and material very much. She is a very nice individual, and I would take her course again.
Great professor! Math is not my forte but she made calculus so easy to understand. Now I'm not even scared of math! The lectures show you exactly how to do everything and sometimes she goes over questions form the homework. Classwork and quizzes are 10 points each and not really that hard. Exams are easy if you study. PS. Don't get the textbook.
I decided to take this class because I do not like Abramson's pre-recorded lectures. They simply do not cover all of the various types of homework problems. To my surpris, she ONLY uses his lectures. If you cannot teach yourself the math, it is not a do-able class. I am hardstuck on 6.5 and am going to have to drop this class and take an in person.
She is one of the best math professors I have had. The class is not that hard as long as you are paying attention during lectures you should be fine. She is very good at explaining the concepts as well as answering questions. I plan to take her for MAT 211 because she is the only math professor I have ever understood math with! Great professor!
This was my second time taking MAT210 and let me tell you I felt like I was taking it for the first time. She explains things in a way that just makes sense. I was remote because of Covid and she would write things with paper and pencil instead of on a screen (yay). She does have an accent but not heavy enough to not be understandable.
Banerjee is a great professor. Lectures are easy to follow and she's willing to keep a slow pace for everyone. Very understanding and always available outside class. She does have frequent quizzes and in-class assignments, but in the long run they are super helpful for exams. She gives you all the tools for success as long as you're willing to work
I took Banerjee's MAT211 iCourse for session B. She was ok. She tends to act harsh, but in reality is kind if you have any questions (e.g. saying that she'll never give extensions, and then ends up giving extensions on every assignment). RPNow is probably the worst part of this class. Midterm and final are worth 40% EACH since the class is so short
She is very kind and always helps students who need it. She makes great lectures and notes that are easy to follow. You need to study in this class, but her teaching style makes topics easy to understand. Best professor I've had at ASU so far. If math isn't your strong suit I really suggest you take her class
Overall this class could have been online; we had to go to the classroom for attendance and to be able to get help, but the TA's were pretty oblivious and just had me look to the directions incorporated in the computer system and rarely tell me anything the program wasn't teaching anyways.
Banerjee is a great professor who cares about her student's success. She clearly explains the work and problems that she teaches and she also always posts what she taught on canvas so you can look back and refer to it. The exams are not cumulative which is good and she posts study guides that are just like the actual exam. Shes great!
This professor heavily relies on her TAs to do all the work. I have never had a conversation with Ms. Banerjee. ALEKS will consume your life. She is the only professor I have heard give 25 topics out EVERY week. I never felt that this professor wanted me to succeed. I am telling you now if you want a good freshman year do not take this class.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. She puts down the students for not understanding right away. She comes in late a lot and goes super fast and expects us to know everything. She has no patience and makes the simplest equations super hard to understand. I am basically teaching myself because I'm lost in class. Do not take her class at all
The class is very difficult because she goes extremely fast in lectures. You almost have to pick between writing notes or paying attention to what she's actually saying. Overall it really feels like a rushed experience. If you're a learner that likes to take their time I don't recommend this class.
I wish Banerjee could teach all of my classes. I took her for MAT210 and knew I needed to take her again for MAT211. She offers in-class work that will be an easy boost to your grade. If you show up to class you will do well. Lots of group work. Her teaching style is so perfect for people who learn math slow.
Any MAT117 class you take at ASU is mostly on ALEKS (online). So I never really talked to this professor. She doesn't really teach, more just proctors your online work when you get to class. All I can think of is "eh" when I think of this class. Not hard but not easy. Just eh. The TA's were TERRIBLE and useless.
Professor Banerjee is the worst teacher I have ever had. She shows up to every single lecture and goes through the notes so fast its impossible to take good notes and pay attention. She does not explain overall concepts at all and just expects students to understand things immediately and is very condescending when asked a question.
VERY good at teaching she goes through every question in the lesson which can be boring sometimes. does not curve or drop any exams, the only extra credit you get is from the hw which is barely anything, she goes through the material very fast you CAN'T take notes and pay attention at the same time. TOUGH grader. take her if u already good at math.
This course would be hard if I did not have this teacher. She does not ask for that much on the specific math questions. Most of the time, she wants you to set up the problem then you can use the calculator for the rest. If you do not try/show up in this class, you obviously won't do well. Sometimes her lectures move fast, but it is not impossible.
Banerjee is a fantastic math professor; I had taken calculus in high school, but she made it very easy to understand. She structures her lectures to go along with every type of problem on the homework and the exams, and her examples are very clear. Show up, put in the work, and do the homework, and you'll do well in the class.
It was all on the website Aleks, so you could go at your own pace. TAs do most of the explaining when you're stuck on something. If you go up to see what you missed on an exam, she sometimes gives partial credit. Lots of homework, don't leave it all for the weekend. Attendance is points. I hate math but it was a totally fine class so no worries!
She goes so fast every day you have her. Everything is always so rushed and hard to udnerstand. She gets very frustrated if you do not understand something and ask her a question in class. Classwork quizzes every week and she never accounts for the number of days you will have off in the school year and rush every lesson.
This class is self-paced so chances are you won't be in class all semester. The downside is attendance is taken. I know that lots of other professors don't mandate attendance seeing as it's not necessary for an online course. Very easy to receive help in class but frustrating to have to come in if you aren't a student who needs the extra help.
Took Calc in hs & never understood it until I took Banerjee. Lectures thoroughly explained how to do each example on HW, classwork, & quizzes which were all on the exams. 3 exams, 1 cumulative final worth 75% of grade but that is every MAT210 class. Hard material, but Banerjee makes it easy to understand. Do the work & an A should be no problem!
This class is definitely do able but you have to work hard. Class is mandatory for daily quizzes and for learning the material. There are 3 exams and one final that are all in person, but Banerjee prepares you well for the exams and gives study guides to help you. She is a tough grader so make sure you study.
Decent professor but goes too fast sometimes, don't shy away from help though but the TA's were helpful especially Gabriel got me through this class and helped a lot. Main takeaways: get ready for hw, use the ta's as they are helpful, and come to class as it is mandatory and you will be successful.
The class is online based as they use ALEKs for all assignments. Some do not like how she pushes them to finish the course off faster than the dictated timeline, I believe that doing so actually benefits us as we have less to worry about. She gives great feedback, and replies to emails very quickly. I would take her again if I could for 210!
Don't listen to the bad reviews. Banerjee is direct, but a great teacher. There's always lectures, with scans of her notes promptly posted online. The weekly quizzes are helpful and keep you on track. There are also weekly homework assignments that she gives worked out answers to in class. Show up to class, pay attention, and you will do well.
By far my favorite professor this semester. Lectures go quickly, but she communicates the material very clearly. Don't be afraid to ask questions during notes. Lots of groupwork but it's really easy and is formatted exactly like the quizzes. Grading criteria and sections are super clear. Wish I could take her for 211!
Please do not take this teacher. She is awful and unhelpful. Exams are hard and weighted very heavily.
Great teacher !
MAT 117 is an entirely self-taught class. Professor. Banerjee never lectured on any material but did help if we had any questions. The TAs are the best resource, but you can also meet her during office hours. ALEKS gets annoying, so score high on the initial placement quiz. It will help you finish the class more quickly. Do the practice Exams!
This class was entirely virtual over ALEKS (awful software by the way, causes a lot of stress) although professor Banerjee did what she could when asked about concepts to make them easier to understand, overall nobody could have made a class like that enjoyable, but professor Banerjee made it better than it could have been otherwise.
She is honestly very straightforward and everything on her quizzes and groupwork is on the exam. As long as you practice the math problems you should be good to go!
Ms. Banerjee is really cool, she teaches fast but it keeps you going and she always answers questions to help, makes sure everyone understands before moving on, she will set time outside of class with you, and she really cares about you passing the class. As long as you pay attention in class and ask for help when you need it, you will be solid.
The professor is a fantastic teacher she really cares for her students and makes sure you understand the ins and outs of the concept. she does have a lot of quizzes and group work but they add up and are very beneficial when it comes to both the gread and recalling during exams. I cant recommend her enough.
I really enjoyed this class. Her teaching style is straight forward and easy to comprehend; she provides/guides you through step by step procedure for solving equations. Lesson quizzes and 3 exams, great study guides provided. Professor B as well as the TA were happy to help. Follow along and note the material/equations and you'll be straight!
Banerjee is one of my favs! Took MAT 210 and MAT 211 with her. She is straightforward with her lectures. There's class groupworks and quizzes. Her knowledge reflects on her teaching style. I failed MAT 211 first time around with a different professor but Banerjee made learning easier second time around.
She's so sweet and helpful! She's turned me into someone who loves and appreciates math. Go to class (rarely cancels)! We often had to stay a little later, so don't have a class immediately after hers. If you're in Barrett, take her course as an honors section, or do an honors contract (only 1 extra project). I absolutely love her and her class!
Quizzes weren't bad bc open notes and can retake many times for higher grade. Your final grade is mostly calculated by how well you do on midterm and final, each being 36%, all quizzes together being 28%. She didn't make any of her lecture videos/is not in any of them. Does regrade for partial cred. OrganicChemistryTutor on YouTube saved me FR.
do not take this class
I loved taking math w/ Professor Banerjee! She is a great teacher. Her lectures/notes are v straightforward and easy to understand. I looked forward to going to math class for the first time in my life when taking her class. She lets students get a lot of hands-on practice w the material through group work, which really helps for exams. take her!!
Very tough course with a lot of long lectures and multiple homework assignments. Keep good notes over your HW assignments so you have them to reference. The HW doesn't offer much of that to prepare for tests. Grades are heavily affected by tests, 20-25% each. The course is going through a restructure process so be mindful of that.
She treats you like you're still in high school.
Save yourself, she's a super sweet human being, but professor wise your better off teaching yourself. She's a hard grader and doesn't explain anything. Classes are mandatory, but honestly its a waste of the day.
Professor Banerjee does a great job preparing you for her exams.
seems like a nice lady outside of class, my parent having cancer and me struggling to keep up with school and a full time job wasn't enough for her to see if there was any way to get me passing the class. f m l
Math is not my strong subject but I actually found this course really easy to take even online in the shortened summer session. The course homework and homework help videos helped to drill in the material, and Professor Banerjee had office hours daily as well as helpful exam review sessions. She also gave partial credit for incorrect answers.
In-person class, but it still makes you learn math online because her lectures are horrible. Her lectures aren't even the same math you do online or on the tests/exams. She doesn't even start with the class how are you just shut up and listen. Her ta are also just don't know anything.
I like her bcs shes super straightforward. Gives partial credit even ur result's wrong but showed the work. Quizzes are almost the same as group works. Solves most of hw questions. Exams also don't deviate much from materials but theyre 75% (no drop) so take them seriously. She goes pretty fast so take her if ure confident in math & want no fuss.
Professor Banerjee is a great teacher, though the course can be challenging. Stay on top of the work, use the provided study resources like quizards, and unstuck ai - it really helps with exam prep. Overall, a worthwhile class if you put in the effort.
75% of your grade is determined by 3-4 exams so take them seriously. Unless you're following with her speech, her handwriting is illegible sometimes. She's not a tough grader, just learn the material and you'll be fine. Not a bad prof by far, but not a favorite
I found calculus to be a very difficult course, but this teacher made it a lot worse. The lessons and lectures weren't beneficial, and were often confusing, hard to hear, or were explained poorly. She also did a very poor job of setting up a study guide, with answers to questions not being right. I would suggest a tutor if you take this class.
mehhhhhhhhh
if you're able to keep up it's pretty easy, but missing a single class will put you behind because there's always some test, quiz, or lesson
Class is easy as long as you pay attention in class and do problems during class. There is homework/group work/quiz every other week. As long as you practice those questions before quiz/exams, everything will be fine. Prof explains things well and easy to follow.
She would always call me out in class telling me to stop talking when I was an A student. I would get a 95 on the exam and she would tell me I'm doing bad in front of the huzz. Then as I'm about to finish with an A she switches up and all of a sudden i end with a B like what the hell. If youre good at math take her though. she's a good teacher.
I had her for 210 and 211 and shes great! You HAVE to go to class or you'll fail. Miss one day and youre cooked tbh. Listen hard to her lectures, she will explain deeper if you ask! Use outside resources if you still dont understand.
This woman is in my nightmares. I've taken this course 5 TIMES! I spend hours upon hours a week studying. Her lectures, accent, and handwriting are HORRIBLE. I've taken a different prof every time I attempt calc but its her lecture videos every time. ASU told me to take the class somewhere else. This school, prof, and class are a joke. Dropping out
she's kinda like a chihuahua lmao. go to class and you will pass. just do the study guide and review the group work and quizzes and you'll do good on the test.
She is impossible to understand due to her thick accent, handwriting is terrible. study guides are useless, answers to practice problems are wrong and explained to zero detail. I only passed because of khan academy. Never once did I learn anything from her lectures, but if u miss a lecture ur cooked because she'll do pop quizzes. Avoid her.
Despite mixed reviews, I found her to be caring, supportive, and committed to student success. She encourages questions and thoroughly reviews exam material. Quizzes are easy and completed in groups, and the online homework is manageable. Attending class is key to doing well, and getting to know her reveals how kind and encouraging she truly is.
She is rude and disrespectful, treats students like six-year-olds, and always seems to be angry. She is also disrespectful to her teaching assistants. In addition, her thick accent makes her difficult to understand—especially when she gets angry. This is not what I expect from a teacher at ASU.
Impossible to understand lmao just take a different professor
Very mediocre teaching. Lectures were just her literally reading the notes, and despite not being the greatest at math, I was able to find minor discrepancies in her calculations leading to an incorrect answer on her part. I taught myself more than she taught me. However, there is a good amount of opportunity for extra credit and corrections.
The MAT210 Brief Calculus class is VERY test heavy. Not the professor's fault - she provided great lectures in note format that students complete themselves during a lecture (GREAT idea) and enough homework to support students' learning. My only complaint- explain the tough concepts better- I did have to use outside videos for help sometimes.
She seems like a very nice individual outside of class. But in class she likes to call out students who do bad on their exams, and is hard to understand with her sloppy handwriting and thick accent. If you miss a class you're behind for the rest of the semester. Tough grader, and explains very poorly.
Please do not take her unless you are willing to teach yourself all the material outside of class
Please do not take this teacher. Class is extremely hard and she doesnt offer much help. She is not very kind in office hours and will make you feel like you are dumb for asking questions. The class was hard and I would not reccomend this professor.
You get quizzes every week and its hard to understand her but she will help you if asked. I would take again if there is no other options.
I would never take a class from her again. She is rude over email and does not respond quickly. She tecahes very fast and makes rude comments to the class when no one answers her questions. She can be somewhat difficult to understand but thats mostly becuase she talks so fast.
Do not take this professor, she is the worst math professor I've ever had. She rushes through material after being late every class. I have had to correct her multiple per class because she rushes. She makes you feel dumb for asking questions then responds in a condescending tone every time no matter what question. She doesn't respond to emails.
Not a horrible teacher, but the class moves pretty fast at times. The accent can be a little difficult to understand occasionally. There are a lot of quizzes and group work. Exams are weighted heavily, but the first two are not too difficult. If you don't pay constant attention, it's easy to fall behind. Still waiting to take final exam.
Im surprised to see these reviews because I took MAT 210 last semester and she is amazing compared to my last professor. Attendance matters due to in class groupworks and quizzes. Tests are exactly the same as the practice ones, very easy to do well on the exams. Her accent and pace are hard to follow at first but you get the hang of it eventually
Wasn't my fav professor because she made us attend class even though the class is fully online. Like seriously, completely online. She can be a bit intimidating at first because she's very much like, “sit down be quiet”. Also, I never asked questions because she would lowk embarrass students.
JUST ATTEND CLASS AND YOUR SORTED
Get ready to teach yourself everything. Her accent and her fast pacing makes understanding difficult. All quizzes are what the hw looks like. 3 exams and 1 final with practice questions just like it. Group work was the worst esp when you dont have a group and its worth most of the grade. you would have to teach all material before entering class.
