i dunt get nything he says:@...but he seems hving fun teaching math...& the ta helps too
I took this class again to get a better mark. He has an accent but I found no trouble understanding him. Available in office hours and will help you. The problem is, he is teaching a hard class and the lectures only help so much. This class is about doing ALL your homework (easier said than done). He seems really giddy about teaching the class =)
to get good grades in his class you have to visit him during his office hours..he is very helpful and jolly..
attened his lectures, visit him in his office hours if u wanna get good marks.didnt get a word he say during lectures but hes gonna help u if u ask him questions although not always.
Can't speak english!
It is really hard to understand him during the first few lectures but after a while its alright. He is very jolly and happy during his lectures! It really make you want to be there. During his office hours, he helps alot even if you need a boost with your mark he will see what he can do. I really recommend taking a class with him! SO AWESOME!
this guy is realy helpfull and his teaching style by choosing practice questions helps in the exam. very helpfull too. i beleive he would be a real good teacher if he wouldnt have accent problem. stay in his classes try to understand his accent then u ll be ok.. way to wang
Dr. Wang is good at his teaching. He helps his students a lot. I really recommend you taking a course with him.
PLUS POINTS: Friendly, flexible, relatively easy, willing to help after class & answer questions. NEGATIVES: Can not speak a word of English. Literally. Unless you know your calculus, avoid taking him (try Iryna Manzhos instead, she is much more understandable, albeit she does have an accent).
I just took this course with him, and got a A. He is understandable, although he has an accent. He cares students, and is helpful. He did help problems by emails too. Well-done, Dr. Wang!
helpfull, caring, friendly way to go Wang
Very kind prof. Hard to miss a class due to the materials. Will find some language barrier but more you try to understand him, more you will understand the materials.
Can't Speak English!!! The tests had various levels of difficulty. He was willing to help, but can't answer in English. He can be condescending and rude at times too. Wouldn?t recommend him if you don?t already know the material or if math isn?t your strong point.
omg....cannot speak in english properly....he tries to help but its hard to understand what he says... :(
I do not understand why some of your guys gave him bad words. I just took a course with him, and got a B+. He really knows how to teach, and cares his students much. He always offers you extra help. Of course, you have to study hard to get a good mark!
The best math teacher I ever had in my school life! He was so nice and helpful! He made me loves stats even more! I definitely recommend him to everyone. I wish I have him in my future classes :)

He really cares about students and their success in the exam. He is very helpful and easy to communicate. He provides excellent notes, so practically you don't have to open the text-book. I do recommend him though his English is not perfect and sometimes it's hard to understand him. But he is open and you can always re-ask if you don't get somethin
Prof. Wang is good at his teaching. He helps his students a lot. I really recommend you taking a course with him.
He is one of the best professor. I know he has language barriers. But who does not these days. You will see more in your upper years. Get over it. I would not have got A+ if it was not for him. I do recommend him for any math course. Just pay attention to him for first few days then you will understand what he says.
GREAT PROFF, do your work and it only helps make the process of you learning the material easier. He answers your questions when needed, spears the time and his teaching is relevant to the material he will test you on.Got an A May hav a language barrier, but after a few classes you'll get over it .
Hes a great guy, I remember I got a good mark on my etst and I told him I love you and he smiled and said it back. Hes a real cool dude. Was hard to understand at first but he is very organized and genuinely cares in your success. One of the nicest profs.
Great Prof.Ater attanding 2-3 class you will feel you have chosed right Prof.I took the same course with other Prof but ended up in droping the course.Prof.Wang show you how to use calculator, share past exam's with solution.Care about student.Explained the course verywell and make easy to understand as Statistics/Math is not that easy to understand

Prof Wang is the best! His notes helped me when the stupid textbook couldn't. His notes are clear, concise and very easy to understand + he does plenty of examples that are close to the ones on the test. His teaching is great once you get used to it. Great teacher!
He may be a good prof, but if English is not your first language, take a pass- his accent is strong
he is the best prof in RU with no doubts!!! he is the god and he is the saver of your calculus!!! take him, and A+ is coming to you
Very helpful in class, and even if you don't attend his lectures, his notes are posted online, and are very helpful. The only major issue would be the accent, which may take time to get used to and in extreme cases, may be difficult to keep a straight face. Great prof otherwise.
Great prof otherwise.Very helpful in class, and even if you don't attend his lectures, his notes are posted online, and are very helpful. The only major issue would be the accent, which may take time to get used to.
I have had the opportunity to attend three post-secondary institutions over the past 7 years. I can honestly say that I have never had a worse professor. Professor Wang has not only shown that he is incapable of teaching effectively, but has demonstrated his desire to trick students. His accent is incomprehensible and does not post lecture slides.
I don't think he is a hard prof. He is a very easy prof. But yes he has a very thick accent & very hard to understand. But despite all that I'm doing pretty well. The key is to follow his notes (which is excellent). & to go through the materials that he mentions .
I don't know why some people keep bashing on this prof. Prof Wang is not that hard. Although it's very difficult to understand his English, but he tries his level best so that everyone understand. Plus he is extremely helpful. I did well because I went to him for help when needed & followed his notes & whatever he has mentioned that is important fo
He is good. I got A+
Excellent Prof. He has helpful slides but make sure you pay attention/take down the example problems in class. Do the assigned hwk questions and you'll ace the class. He's easily approachable during/after class. He does have a heavy accent but give it a week, week + 0.5 tops and you'll understand everything he says.
what can i say that hasnt already been said... hmm well over all he is a very good prof, although yes his accent is TERRIBLE at times nad u dont understand a word he says, but if you pay close attention, me and my friends found that he likes to string sentences together with the phrase "LIKE-A-NOW!!" lol overall a good prof, and very helpful
Does a lot of detailed examples in class. Once you get used to his accent you will realize that he is an excellent prof, really cares about his students and will take his time to explain every step little step required to solve each problem.
very hard to understand. By the end of the semester anyone that passes this course should get two credits: one for QMS and another one for intermediate Chinese.
Professors like this should not be allowed to teach in an institution like Ryerson. I didnt understand a word he said and i am a native English speaker. I dont think he speaks enough English to convey the message of his lectures. Dropped the class right after 1st lecture. Shame on Ryerson!
A very generous prof who gives generous tests and exam. He also is very friendly and will answer all your emails and in-person questions on time. However, his accent is extremely tough (trust me it is impossible to understand). A very good prof if you read the textbook ahead of time as you will be able to follow along in the lecture.
I have no problems in understanding him. Good work, Prof. Wang!
He's a very nice and friendly man. However, his accent is INCOMPREHENSIBLE. I can't understand a word he says and i'm not exagerating. I really wish i could understand him because he's very nice and his notes are very good.
The reason why people here probably cant understand him is because they are probably in the half of the class that doesn't shut up while he is teaching. So many people disrespect him and it's nauseating. Just listen and take notes and you can understand him just fine. Good teacher, nice guy.
He is an incredibly nice guy, always smiling, always polie, the polar opposite of Kun QuanLan. His math knowledge is definetly on a PHD level, which can't be said of many Ryerson profs. Unfortunately, his language leaves much to be desired, especially his accent. Understanding him is an ordeal, but overall is great!
I think Prof. Wang deserves a positive response. Many business students are not good at Math, and Stats is really not an easy subject. You have to work VERY hard if you want to get a good mark. Prof. Wang gives us many examples in class, and even he made his note available to us.
Anyone who says he isn't understandable, he teaches math, everything you need to see is on the overhead, and he makes excellent notes. He's always smiling, and makes stats SO easy... If you do bad in his course, you actually need to go back to high school and re-take math. Dr. Wang is one of the better profs I have, give the man his credit
Really nice. Sometimes difficult o understand but very helpful.
He's a great teacher. Only bad thing is that he has a strong accent. But the thing that makes it worse are the idiot kids who show up and talk all class while not even paying attention. So if you have him, he's great but sit in front to avoid the loud kids always talking.
Really good teacher! I loved attending his lectures! Easy to follow his lectures! Goes slowly and step by step. Though it might be hard to hear him clearly, you get used to it and the slides make sense if you just focus on the slides anyways. He is willing to help you out as much as he can.Always smiling
can't understand him
Very friendly prof. Gives time to listen and answer questions. However, I do not recommend him. He is extremely difficult to understand. He has a very strong Asian accent, talks as if every lecture is a race. His test were straight forward. Had to rely on textbook to learn.
Very nice teacher and helpful but sometimes difficult to understand. If you read over the textbook and go over the slides you should be fine
you cant even understand him and he doesn't help you when you ask questions he just tells you read your book.
Highly Recommended prof. Really helpful! Always smiling. Take him if you can.
Super Nice. Goes slow. Helpful. Presents material clearly. Thick accent. It might throw you back at first. Once you understand what he's saying you'll be fine. I recommend studying his lessons which are given on Bb more than the text. They're clearer and will prep you better for his exams.
IF you actually pay attention, you can understand what he's trying to say. Don't sit in the middle row, because all people do is go on facebook. His midterms are straight forward. No trick questions. Just questions you practice from the textbook.
Great Professor!
He is good, very helpful. He does so many examples in class. Just pay attention, you will ace in the course.
This prof is highly helpful and competent! No need to use the book, his notes are well organized, contain all you need to know, the material in the book is very complicated. If you have a question, ask him he always help, makes the course way easier than it can appear when you open a book.I would highly recommend this prof for both QMS 102 and QMS 202!
He's so nice towards students and respects them. He helps everyone that wanna learn.
Very nice guy. Really really really hard to understand what he's trying to say.
His accent made things impossible to understand.. Had to re-do it again! If you attend his 3 lectures and still don't understand.. please switch!
I took this course last Spring with him. I did not have any problems. Yes, he did many similar questions in classs. He also gave reviews, which helped a lot.
One of the greatest professors I've ever met and had the pleasure of learning from. Really does care about how well each individual does and really makes an effort in making sure what is being taught is clear and concise!
BEST PROF EVER, HANDS DOWN! all my friends love him, everyone in his class love him! always give great examples, very through in his lectures! never lets his student down!!
This prof was very optimistic, and was very helpful if you email him. He knows what he's talking about, and if you use his notes, you don't even need to buy the textbook. His happiness in the class is refreshing to such a boring and lifeless topic.
He is amazing prof. This is the prof that I spend my time to drink coffee and have conversation with him.
Is always happy and tries his best to make sure you understand the concepts. Is surprisingly "graceful" when working through the problems in class and his exam reviews he gives a week or two before the exam are excellent. If you can do the exam review you'll do really well on the exam.
He is a really kind prof, like extremely nice. His accent is for sure hard to understand but he is really helpful. He posts review and practice questions on BB so you can do more questions.
I love Dr.Wang! He was a great prof. Very clear and was very helpful when I did not know how to do the assignment. I would love to be in his class again!
My second favorite stats prof at Ryerson. He is such a nice prof, smiles all the time and you never get to see him angry even though some of the kids in class are way too annoying. His accent is a little bit hard to understand, but other than that everything else in class is amazing. Take his class if you can and you will do great!
GREAT PROF!! Hard to understand, but very helpful, his reviews are great and his midterms/exams are fair!
He is an amazing prof and truly wants his students to succeed. Just take the first class or two to learn to understand him and it'll be a breeze after that. His tests are really easy, but this may change. He really is a nice guy and is always smiling! I hope I can take his QMS202 class.
Hes a really nice and helpful guy. He responds quickly to emails, has a lot of office hours and is always happy. He is very caring towards his students and will do whatever it takes to help. His notes are really helpful and he provides a lot of practice problems to prepare you for the tests/exams!
Notes on BB is extremely helpful. you dont need the textbook, just study his notes and do his practice question and you will do well on ur tests.
I had trouble understanding him, but I solved that. I would pre read and do some Q's before class, then go to lecture and pay attention to what he was doing. This, along with the great assignments and awesome practice midterms he posted, filled any knowledge gap I had.
Great guy, at first hard to understand due to his accent but you get used to it. Easy marker if he sees you attending class. Class average on midterm was high 70s (which is high seeing the number of people that didn't attend class). Show up to class, take notes, and you'll ace the exams. I had no regrets taking his class and I would take it again.
Moves quite quickly through the material and may confuse some students. He stops when someone is confused at least. Going home and reviewing the textbook will definitely help. Review his mock tests as he models the tests VERY* similar to them. If you can master the mock tests (and understand them) alongside his notes, his class is very do-able.
super nice and happy ALL the time. pretty easy prof, just study and you'll do fine. The reviews are very similar to the test. Really great prof overall.
Best prof ever, heavy accent but not hard to understand.
He is easy and GREAT! His examples are so helpful and tought how to use the calculator easily.
Awesome prof! Always willing you help you out. He's very enthusiastic and energetic so you never feel "bored" in class. Do all the online homework because you get marks based on attempting! Examples in the textbook will help a lot too. No reason you can't get at least a B. You'll be fine even if you don't attend all lectures.
Amazing professor, midterm and final exam was really easy but be careful because his accent is quite hard to hear. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK IN THIS CLASS!!!!!!!!!
He is a very nice prof, always willing to answer questions, however his accent is hard to understand, so getting the textbook is a must. It's a very easy course, crib sheets are allowed for the tests and exams, definitely a GPA booster.
In terms of a math professor, he's the best I've ever had. If you're okay at math, forget the textbook and use his dope notes that he posts on BB instead, print them out and complete them in class. Exams mirror his notes. Extremely helpful and will stay to help you as much as possible. Definitely quirky but extremely dedicated prof. Take his class!
Nice Prof!!!
Awesome prof!! His notes are amazing and he is willing to help and genuinely wants the students to succeed! I would take another class with him again for sure!
For this course, this professor was really effective. His notes were really well made and his examples match the midterm and final questions. But, like with any class, if you don't practice applying the concepts, you will not succeed . He makes learning easy for you by providing mock midterm questions and extra problems from the book.
I personally love CHANGPING! He is the best prof! Great notes! I would recommend him as a prof!
He's pretty easy as long as you do the practice tests. Hes so happy at lectures that it makes you happy. But his accent is hard to understand.
His accent is hard to understand at times , but he is an amazing prof. Really only need to study off his weekly homework and mock exams. Textbook will help for clarification but dont really need it. Would definitely take again . Awesome Prof.
His lecture notes are quite amazing and his practice tests are very helpful. Make sure to try the e-homework, because they take the concepts to higher grounds which will help you be ready for any question on the tests/exams. Also, I suggest reading the section before class, because his accent might be hard to comprehend.
Absolutely loved this prof. In my opinion best stats prof in Ryerson. He may have a thick accent, but you eventually get used to it. His exams are very fair and he does a great job explaining the content in his lectures. He's very kind and approachable, always willing to help. Amazing prof.
Great prof, thick accent but has good notes and examples and will clarify if you ask him to. You don't need the textbook for his class but it helps as extra clarification. Do his review tests and you'll do well in his class. Exams and tests are very fair and similar to in-class material and practice tests.
Don't ever hate this PROF. BEST prof ever. Very easy, just remember to study for his midterm and do the questions he does in class. Even BIT of STUDYING will result in a good (A) grade in this class! EASY MIDTERM AND EXAM!
He is a great teacher if you can understand him-he has amazing notes especially if you attend class but if you have trouble understanding an asian accent DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS-I could never understand him and it took a big toll on my grades in the class.
take it for the prof, such a qt
Nice guy and good prof but I can't understand a word he's saying.
Amazing prof. His notes are all you need to pass. He lets you write anything on your crib sheets. His accent makes it a little hard to understand, but all you need to do is pay attention. I cannot recommend him enough and I will take his courses again whenever I have the opportunity to.
Took this course with Prof. Changping in Fall 2013. In the beginning it was hard to understand him through his accent, but if you pay attention, it really isn't a big deal. He's a super nice guy who really tries to make things as simple as can be. If you ever need help, he is always happy to assist you. Extremely recommended!
This prof is very difficult to understand because of his thick accent but luckily since it's a math class you can just watch him do the problems and it makes sense. He does lots of problems in class and he only puts questions on the midterms/exam that he's done in class. He is very happy to help and if you go to all the classes you'll do well!
Okay prof, at least he tries.
Very good for stats, he is very funny most of the time which makes classes go quicker. A really interactive class, but once he finds out your name he will ask you a million questions. turn up on time and DO NOT go on your phone - he hates it!!!
Introduction to Mandarin should be a prerequisite.
First time entering his class, his accent was hard to understand. You'll get used to it after a few classes. He's an amazing teacher and he gives you well explained notes in class. He tries very hard to teach and is always there to help. One of the most helpful teachers in my opinion. Go to his office hours if you have any questions.
To begin with, Dr. Wang is a qt3.14 YES his accent is difficult to understand but eventually by week 2 or 3 it doesn't seem so bad DEFINATELY TAKE HIM I'm waiting till he teaches QMS202 so I can take him again because all his in-class questions, notes and review questions is very very similar to the tests and exams. I recommend him if you want A
Sure, he has an accent that makes his lectures confusing but seriously don't let that stop you. The concepts are clear in themselves. Take effective notes and do all the practice problems in the book. Do this and you're guaranteed a B+ or more. Buy the mock exams from TRSM, 2nd floor (they help a lot!). The group project is an easy A. Have fun!!!
Awesome dude, DR Cpw is the bomb
MTH110 is a very easy course. Mr Wang is a quite speaker so you shoul seat closer. He does a lot of examples in class but does not upload them to blackboard. Practice mid-term and final are very usefull as well as homework solutions. Great prof and good easy course.
Absolutely adored this prof. His accent may be annoying, but you'll get over it the first week. He puts up a crazy amount of examples on the board and is always willing to help if you go to his office hours. He's one of the best profs i had! Enjoy him.
has a decently difficult accent to understand at first, but you get used to it. Uses some weird methods and his work can be hard to follow at times. mostly helpful though
He has somewhat of an accent that makes it tricky to understand what he's saying sometimes. The course itself is easy, he doesn't post notes, but he does plenty of examples that really help!
He's got this permanent smile on his face and a REALLY thick accent that I suppose you can get used to after a while but I basically stopped attending his lectures after a month. His notes are literally copied straight from the book but he does methods significantly different. I follow the book's ways and still found the course relatively easy.
Changping Wang was my favourite prof ive had so far. He put up many examples which really helped with midterms and exams. It may be a little hard to understand his accent in the beginning but you get used to it. His exams were easy if you attend class and write down all the examples. Got an A on exam and didnt study for it! Love this prof must take
My main concern for the course was that i could not understand what he said for the majority of the class. He has a very thick accent. The online homework is pretty straight forward. The first test was difficulty, the second test was fair. The exam was easy. He is always smiling and has a positive attitude.
CP breaks down the learning material into examples throughout his lectures and covers the many types of questions that may be on the test. If you have done his review tests, you should be fine except sometimes he puts in questions that he's never discussed before. Be sure to email him with more than 24 hours prior to a test, bc he replies slow
I love him
Read the textbook because he does not speak ANY English. Zero English skills. This is a trend with Ryerson and Stats profs.
Conceptually, ChangPing Wang is fairly clear. The only complaint I have is that he has a VERY STRONG accent.
He's good at teaching, I'd write down his notes because they're easier to understand than his accents though...
CP Wang is THE HAPPIEST prof you'll see, he's always smiling, because math is his one true love. He's always there to help, and includes examples in every lecture. His notes are golden, and easy to understand- provided you pay attention in class. Overall, a great prof.
he's super nice and his notes are actually really good his accent is terrible though
He's a really nice and helpful prof. The main concern that most people have with him is his accent. I admit it's hard to understand, but it's math so all you really need to do is look at the screen and follow along. Attending his lectures is recommended since he likes to give the harder examples (that are in the exam) at the end of the lecture.
The lectures are of high quality. Always smiling when teaching. He can make things easier for students to understand, and provides a lot of typical examples, which really helps. Last, what I wanna say is, he not only cares about students, but loves them. I sometimes chat with him because we are from the same place, and that's how I know it.
Worst math teacher I've ever had. Couldn't understand his accent, even at the times I could his teaching is horrible. Switch to Majed's class if you want a decent grade in Linear. My bad grade was partly my fault too but he's still a bad teacher lol. Lectures seemed to drag on forever even when I took multiple naps in them.
Amazing professor, his booklets and notes were very detailed and were sufficient enough to study of off for the quizzes, midterm and finals. The group project was an easy A. Very easy course, but need to go to class and take notes in order to pass.
You don't have to read the whole book with Dr. Wang's class. All you need is to attend all his lectures and ask question when you don't understand. You will get an A easily.
He is an easy Professor.
I studied on my own and managed to pass plus the help of the best prof, Majed Alqasas, and his notes -they literally saved me. The clarity when he speaks is basically a 0 suites him. He doesn't provide notes on his lectures. Worst Prof ever, and won't be recommended if you would want to learn!.
A happy man with a thick accent. Yes, Changping Wang teaches Mathematics with a passion. The first two midterms were tough, but the final exam was incredibly easy. If you do your homework, you will enjoy every second of his lectures.
His teaching style is humourous and amazing (especially with his thick accent). I would definitely have him again if only he was still at Ryerson.
Amazing professor. Very helpful and accommodating. He is not the clearest professor due to language barriers but he provides amazing lecture notes that are practically subtitles. Go to class and take notes - this is essential. Don't even need the textbook if you go to class. Textbook self-study is manageable.
Very difficult course: Professor has a very thick accent. Quiz 1, 2 and Midterm you may pass with good mark (all questions will be covered in the class). Final Exam - a BIG SURPRISE. You have to spend a lot of time for practice questions (he will provide) that are not included in the test (wasting time). Very disappointed. Wasting time and money
A really happy prof, but that didn't make up for not being comprehensible thanks to his thick accent. Doesnt introduce concepts (i.e. when/why would you use this formula?) Test review was useless since he never handed back our work (how can you improve when you dont know where you went wrong?!) I got through this course by hiring a tutor.
Great guy. Amazing lectures. Has an entertaining way of explaining the material. I would definitely take him again, as he loves his students. I went to his office once and he told me that he would star in the next season of Fresh off the Boat.
YES, his accent is thick, but within a week I realized that if I focus on his notes (handwritten, which he projects onto a screen), it becomes a lot easier to follow along. Very divisive as a professor, but adored as a character. if you're not paying attention you'll have no idea why the rest of the class is laughing.
EASY COURSE
Changping Wang is quite alright. Very approachable and he explains stuff well. Be wary of his thick accent. It might suit you well to sit at the front to best understand him. Most of your mark will come from the 2 midterms and final so study hard. Half the course is Grade 12 review but I'd suggest going to lectures for the new stuff.
He has an accent, but after week 1 you should be used to it. He does explain the concepts the best he can but if you still don't understand he will clarify in class or outside of class. I had him for both calc and linear and he was a pretty good teacher i wish i could have taken him for calc 2. Pay attention in the lectures, its all there study tho
I learned many things in his class. Dr. Wang is very kind and his lectures are clear and easy to understand. Furthermore, he is very patient and open for extra help during office hours. I would definitely recommend taking classes with him.
You won't understand this prof. VERY thick Chinese accent. Learned the material from textbook and through trial and error. Horrible class.
He is a passionate teacher. His English is really bad, but his lectures slides are very good with detailed examples. His examples are similar to the exams exercises. I failed the mid terms, but I was able to get an 80% in finals by solving the recommended exercises, his examples and previous years tests.
Accent is thick but you will get used to him very quickly then he will be fully clear overtime. Lecture notes are very good; went to office hours a few times and was helpful. MTH140 is exactly a repeat of AP calculus, if you took that in reality there is no reason to come to class. Easy course, if you are able to do all hw you are fine.
Really great prof . His accent is a bit thick, so understanding him may be hard at times but you get used to him very quick. His teaching style is great and if you don't get a concept he'll go over it with you in class or you can go to his office hours and he'll help you out.
He has an accent that might be tough to understand but his notes are top class
His style of teaching is great and will always help any student who asks for help. Only downside is that you need to get passed his accent
His accent may be intimidating, but that is why I find him funny. Changping really knows how to teach with clarity and is very helpful if you ask. Calculus I and II are cornerstone courses for your program, so take full advantage of Changping if you are in his classes.
His method of teaching is very helpful and gets you engaged in class. One downside is his accent, but even with just his notes you could do well in the course. If you're not understanding something because of his accent, don't hesitate to ask him about it.
He does not explain his thought process when giving in class examples. Lectures can be confusing. His accent takes a bit of time to get used to. The midterm was fair, however it was marked unfairly! Not horrible, but I would not take another class again with him.
really helpful prof and really good at explaining concepts! there's a language barrier and he's hard to understand sometimes because of his accent but you get used to it
Would definitely recommend. Dr. Wang is very nice and his lectures are good. I didn't find his accent too difficult to understand. He gives plenty of examples in class and walks through them step by step. Tests are fair. Overall, a good prof.
Dropped his class and plan to take it at a later time with a different instructor. Spends all class doing examples which are difficult to follow since he only spends a few seconds going over the concept. It takes a little bit of effort to get past the accent.
The accent makes it difficult at first to understand but you will eventually get use to it. Teaches the material quickly so have to be focused for those 2 hour lectures.
Such a nice person, great prof overall!! He also has good notes which he posts regularly.
Prof Changping is the best calc prof I ever had. I know his accent can be a bit tough, but once you're over it, you really get to see what a gem he is. His smile and his general willingness to help when you have questions is so kind. Plus his handwriting is very clear and notes are great.
Wang has quite a thick chinese accent however you get used to it, and his written notes are incredibly clear. If you skip class, he provides the lecture notes on D2L which is very nice, and he almost always follows the textbook structure for his notes, and even uses the same examples from the textbook as well. I also had him for MTH 141.
Dr. Wang is a great prof if you can get past his accent. His notes are neat and concise. He will show you the fastest and easiest way to solve problems. He's a joker too.
Once you get past the accent(not hard), youll discover hes one of the best professors youll have ever. Especially his teaching style for calculus made it so easy for a lot of people in his class to ace their exams.
Awesome professor, very heavy accent but pronounces words correctly and is easy to understand after a few lectures. Doesn't explain concepts clearly all the time but gives hard examples during class that will get you ready for the exam. Cannot recommend the man enough.
Easy course, don't really need to read the textbook because his notes are very good. Straightforward test and exam, no tricks. Assignments are a free 10% and the quizzes are super easy.
Great prof. You need to sit as close to the front row as possible because he has a pretty thick accent, but his notes are great. Tests are very straightforward and draw directly from the notes. Even though his assignments are completion marks, make sure to do them as if they were marked, and you'll understand the concepts a lot better.
Dr. Wang, sometimes referred to as "Mr. Universe" and "the voice that guides us through the darkness of mathematical ignorance" has been by favorite professor at Rye. Notes are great, always has an unrivalled smile and a beautiful laugh, and you can tell he cares. Do a lot of practice problems and you can finish with an A. Thank you CP Wang.
Prof posted lectures online but content is crazy heavy so don't skip. Also has an accent so have to be alert and focused to understand. Prof not so bad but the content is horrible and boring until linear algebra which is the easiest part of the course.
Best prof at Ryerson by fa.r
His lectures are completely useless since his accent is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. His notes are unorganized and confusing. I ended up skipping his lectures and suffering on my own, which is very infuriating and unfair. He shouldnt be allowed to teach. Would NOT recommend at all.
Make sure you bring a pillow to his lectures.
Avoid at all costs
A VERY nice and caring prof!! Midterm and exam were extremely straightforward if you do the assignments and in-class practice problems. His notes were SO helpful, didn't even have to read the textbook. Very approachable in office hours and easily accessible by email. Loved his class, and would definitely take another class with him again!!
Extremely overrated.
A great prof, accessible outside of the class, and does really good examples inclass that will help you prepare for the midterms. Highly Recommended.
Amazing professor, maybe one of the best I've had at Ryerson. Against all odds taught me stats and does so in a really concise way. If you have to take any of QMS 102 or 202 and he's available, definitely take with him. As long as you go to classes and do the practice hw, you will breeze through the semester.
He is nice and always trying to make things clear, he talks a lot about details, if you go to class and listen carefully, there is no way to get under B
He is incredibly hard to understand to the point where 75 % of your lecture time would be spent trying to decipher what he said. He's a nice person and easy to talk with if you can understand him at all. I wouldn't recommend him because good luck trying to pass statistics with a teacher who's accent is as thick as the wall of china.
he is very nice and approachable. However I do agree that his accent is a bit too heavy for you to be able to fully understand everything he said. But he wrote down all the steps for each class example so just try to copy down everything he wrote. class is very content heavy and he wastes a lot of time teaching algebra while this is a stat class
Good teacher and nice
His lecture notes are good but he doesnt teach properly. Take this Professor if you can teach yourself because other than that, you probably wont do as well in his class.
a bit hard to understand but goes into everything in detail
hard to understand, explains certain things in detail but skips over some information
Know Chinese and your good
I had Changping for linear in my first year of engineering and he made the course seem so easy. I attended every class so I barely looked at the textbook- only used it for practice questions. If you attend class and do all recommended practice questions you will find the exam soo easy.
HE is kind and nice, knows the shortage of his accent so explain things more clearly than other prof, strongly recommended.
Your best professor to take in MTH 131. If you don't have him switch to his class asap. Really nice professor who knows his stuff. He does have an accent but you'll get used to it Explains everything really well and helps his students understand the concepts. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! *He literally smiles every 5 seconds which is really adorable :)
Honestly a very nice and friendly man. Despite his accent, hes a pretty good lecturer. never been to his office hours, but hes always open to answer any concerns and questions. Midterm was EASY. overall, mth131 was all review from grade 12 functions and calc.
His happiness is contagious. He chuckles (weird word, I know, but appropriate) a LOT during lectures. Accent is kinda thick but you can get past that in a little while. Great notes, lots of examples in lectures. Nice guy. Make sure you study for exams.
Once you get past the accent, he's an amazing prof. Definitely has the best notes among the rest. 10/10 would have him again
difficult to understand, but u get past the accent and ur good, sit near the front and u will understand him great. his accent is better when ur close up. EXCELLENT notes, and really help up and caring. also his jokes are not funny but still make u laugh
He is a bit hard to understand but trust me, he is a legend. His notes are really really good and better than most Profs. Even Majeds. An underrated prof at Rye no cap. I dont show up to class however I read the online notes and here I am with a 94% overall. Also for exam remarking, he blesses you.
This prof has a heavy Chinese accent but once you get used to it, you will be fine. He is a great prof and his notes are very helpful to look back on. What makes class great is the attitude he brings to it every day. He truly has a passion for this class and is such a nice man.
Absolutely amazing prof, deserves a 5/5. At first it may be a bit difficult to understand him but over time you will get used to it. His notes and lectures are amazing and absolutely prepare you for the midterms and exam. You can see he loves teaching and definitely go up to him during class/office hours, and he will explain concepts perfectly.
Dr. Wang is amazing!!! Does problems step by step in class and posts all notes on D2L. His quizzes are also easy as long as you know what you're doing. He is very kind and smiles every 5 seconds!!
His notes are all you need.
He's a really sweet guy who is easy to like. He has a super thick accent so I found that there was basically no point of attending lectures because I couldn't understand him. Luckily he posts really neat notes after each lecture which are easy to follow. Lab homework was an easy mark booster, and the exams were fair. DO THE HOMEWORK!!
Dr. Wang is a good professor. His accent was hard to understand in the beginning, however, I got use to it as time went by. His work is very methodical and his handwriting is very neat; making his notes very good for a course such as MTH 141. Sometimes he may not be very clear at explaining some concepts, but overall a decent professor.
Literally the best professor ever and no one can argue with me. I am someone who has hated math all throughout high school and this guy made math seem so easy if you get a chance to have him TAKE HIS CLASSSSS.
truly a gem. caring and unlike most, doesn't make you feel horrible for not understanding a concept. show up for reviews and there's no way to fail.
Changping Wang my friends and I have a saying once you go wang you cant go wrong. Literally the saviour to first year math as he was the only teacher that could teach properly so many kids switched into his class or just came to his class instead of there own. He is very organized and interactive with his class going step by step with the problems.
During Fall 2020, unlike most teachers who do not excuse students with extensive help, he is cares for students and is understanding of the situation. Most professors don't give extra time during tests upon invalid excuses, however, Dr. Wang is willing to comply for it since he understands students situations.
My favourite prof at Rye! His accent is a little hard to understand at first, but you can tell he loves what he's teaching, he's always smiling :) Extremely patient when it comes to student questions and definitely makes calc class better online. His notes are amazing, if you use them, and focus on the lab questions instead of textbook, easy A!
Amazing professor recommend him completely
Definitely knows his stuff. He's always patient when answering questions, and just a sweet guy in general. Only complaint is that his examples can become hard to follow when they have multiple steps. Content requires some self study, but that's not saying much in a uni level math course
He clearly knows his stuff and is good at explaining it. However, he is very bad at retaining student's attention so it is easy to let your mind wander during class. Still a great prof.
Dr Wang is a great professor and a great person. He goes at a steady pace and will spend any amount of time answering your question. He always has a smile on his face and there's never been a dull moment in his class. I took him for MTH 140, and MTH 141, and its been great. I also enrolled in his Calc 2 class :). would definitely recommend
MTH140 was conducted online in Fall 2020. I had a hard time understanding Dr. Wang. You'll have to get used to the accent. I'm sure he's a great professor tho.
The purest guy! The class always makes sure to give him love lol. He's always so nice and patient; not too organized or the very very best teacher however the fact that he doesn't rush and is so understanding kinda makes up for it IMO especially if that's the kind of prof you need in order to be motivated/not frustrated every class.
Excellent prof, I really enjoyed the class experience. His accent initially threw me off but I quickly got used to it. He really cares about the material he teaches and his students. Office hours run every week and he's ready to go in depth and spend time on each student. Tests aren't too hard and reflect the lectures. 100% would recommend him.
The professor evokes a caring and patient attitude. However, he does not maintain the students interest in the topic for long as most are left not talking when the prof is asking a question. Finally, his final had an average of 61.1% with some challenging questions that were not discussed.
CPW IS A GOAT. My guy is super nice and super caring. He does plenty of examples during lectures to help you understand. You do have to go to class though and do plenty of practice questions. He can be hard to understand but you get used to it.
His communication skills on emails are horrible. He tends to give half-witted answers and only answers certain things whenever I email him for clarification. He disregards my main questions and starts mentioning other crap that I already know about and fully ignoring my main questions. Though his assignments are not too hard and pressuring.
Not a good communicator by email, if you send the professor a couple emails on something you are concerned about, he will just stop responding. Extremely difficult final exam. He will NOT give part marks even if you show your work on the exam. The independent weekly modules were not bad at all though.
Always helped me out when I had questions.
Prof Wang teaches concepts very well. His accent is not a concern at all because you get used to it pretty quickly. He does a lot of examples in class which help understand the lesson well, and he always makes sure to answer the questions asked in class.
Best professor I had because he works really hard and stays after class to help out with questions! 100% take him again
Amazing Notes, Shows all steps to each question even the most minor steps, answers all questions (even repeated ones). Has a accent but you can get used to it in a lecture or two, one of the best profs after Majed. If you do the homework and practice you can do good.
He's shows detailed solutions when solving problems which made the course very easy for me.
I have no idea what this man is saying half of the time. It's so hard to understand him, I wish I could but it's so hard.
seems nice-but it's really hard to understand the guy and you might not get used to it like someone else wrote - not a bad guy at all but I would try to take the course with someone else if possible
Honestly one of my fav profs. He will re-explain things when you don't understand, adapt to his class and give fair tests and quizzes. Also, his handwriting puts computer fonts to shame.
Dr. Wang is a great prof he seems very eager to teach his students and he's a good teacher at that the only reason I didn't give him 5/5 is because he has a very thick accent which can make him very hard to understand especially in those 8am classes.
Great professor, one that I will always remember at TMU/Ryerson. While he has a strong accent which can be intimidating at first, you can get used to it over time. He is very caring and approachable for extra help.
Uploads great notes to brightspace after the lecture, never attended his class for 90% of the semester, just went through the textbook and his slides to self teach, this is for MTH141 btw.
Hard to understand his lecture, and some materials that were on the exam weren't covered in class and a lot of self studying required if you wanna pass his class
Dr Changping Wang does have an accent and it is made worse due to his mask, but it is not unintelligible. Unfortunately, the professor is not stern enough, and most of the time you cannot hear him due to the loud class. He has amazing lecture notes and the lecture themselves are great so long as you are not in a disruptive section.
Thick accent makes lectures difficult to understand but you get used to it. Does lots of examples during lectures but goes pretty fast, make sure you don't skip or else you can fall behind pretty easily. Pretty nice guy despite this
His accent makes lectures a bit hard to understand. Still a decent prof, just be prepared to do self-studying on the side
He has wonderful examples but sometimes his accent makes it seem like he's speaking a different language. Especially with a course like discrete math where there is a lot of terminology to be dealt with having a professor like him just makes it more difficult in my opinion. Nonetheless, the pace isn't steady and he mispronounces words.
His accent was a little difficult at first but you will get used to it in no time. I recommend you to practice for the weekly quizzes. The quizzes were kinda easy at times and tough at other times but generally if you practice frequently you should be good. Same thing for the tests and exams. Overall not bad.
His accent might be tough to understand for the first few lectures, but he's a great teacher and cares about his students. The example he goes through in class are challenging and will prepare you well for tests and exams.
He did a lot of useful examples during class and made the material easy to understand, make sure to do the homework from the textbook for extra practice. A lot of people complain about his accent however he's easy to understand when you get used to it, and to be honest its really not that bad.
Great prof, his voice is a little low so its best to sit in front to hear him better
Best QMS prof by a landslide
His class has a really nice distribution of marks where grades are spread across weekly assignments, and 3 tests. He responds to emails quickly and frequently, and goes over a lot of examples throughout his lectures. Overall a great prof
Professor Wang is a great professor. His lectures are not too theory heavy and he goes through a lot of example problems. His lecture problems are similar to the tests, so if you study the lecture material you should find the tests to be quite fair. I would definitely recommend him.
An amazing professor who teaches all lessons with great details and examples. Made this linear algebra course seem like a bird course.
Textbooks were free and provided. Examinations were directly from the lectures and homework. Dr. Wang encouraged engagement by repeatedly asking the students questions about the process. Additional problems were disturbed prior to a test. As a final note, I sat in the front row every class and his lectures were the highlight of my day.
As a stand alone professor --Running the course himself-- his test are very hard, I know this first hand as I took him for calc 1 in the winter semester for 2023, but if he's not the course coordinator then all of that doesn't matter since he wont be the one making the midterm or final exam. Overall he's okay, his accent is super hard to understand
He has a heavy accent but once you get over it you realize he can really teach well. Sure he made the midterms brutal but in the end he curved the midterm marks the week of returning it in favor of helping the students. He asks for feedback about quizzes during class and adjusts them accordingly. He's happy to teach and cares about student wellbeing
Not sure why there is some bad reviews for this course? If u pay attention to him u can understand what he's saying despite the accent. He went over things multiple times as this course material in general is repetitive. Tests were like the assignments even easier I'd say. He gave an assignment as a bonus and gave a bonus attendance mark.
my favourite prof ever. he is such a sweetheart always smiling and cares about students. If he feels we are tired he usually ends the lecture a bit early to give us a break. His notes are AMAZING, you can learn the whole lesson from them alone if you skip, super clear and has amazing examples for exams. has an accent but still explains REALLY well!
He has probably the most difficult and thickest Chinese accent ever, but, he is a genuinely nice guy and knows what he is doing. His notes and examples are good and he is quick with posting them after class. Be warned that if you don't understand him, you will have to use the online textbook to catch up.
great professor
People say that once you understand his accent that it'll get easier. It never got easier for me. He always did hard questions and skipped steps when solving problems. Only a real mathematician would be able to understand every step that he does without getting confused. The concept of things that he covers is way harder than the actual exams.
Great prof once you can adjust to his slight accent. Very kind and respectable in his lectures, and is patient with answering questions.
His lecture is interesting and ez to understand. You can always see lots of people in his lecture. Exams are difficult to pass but that's Lan's fault. He is a better prof than Lan, but the theories parts are difficult to understand.
I'm in second year now and had Dr. Wang for linear algebra in first year. His accent is very hard to understand but his notes were great.
Hard to understand accent but you eventually get used to it. Definitely messed up a lot on stuff because I had no idea what he was saying. Otherwise he try's his best to answer questions and goes over a lot of examples
Awesome prof! Kind of a heavy accent but love his annotated notes that he posts after class.
Great professor with excellent notes. Makes the content very clear to students and has good practice examples in his notes.
This guy has a thick chinese accent If you dont sit in the first 3 rows, you're not going to understand, bro. Lecture notes are pretty good. He loves trig-related functions so much for some reason; for lab quizzes, he loves asking curveball questions that you have never seen before. His exams are definitely doable, but nothing is straight-forward.
As much as everyone says that his accent grows on you and you eventually understand it, it never got easier for me, I never ended up understanding the man's accent. I would ask him a question and even if I were to understand what he was saying, he wasn't helpful with his responses. His handwriting IS actually very good and his notes are very useful
He is a little difficult to understand at first but after a while you get used to it. In his lectures he uses a bunch of difficult practice problems which prepare you more than enough for the type of questions on the midterm and exam. Hes a really chill dude if you talk to him, CPW is the goat
his notes are what make people take his class, he is VERY hard to understand due to his accent, but he is also very nice and kind and will answer your questions to the best of his ability. Honestly, for math, just study online lol, usually calc 1, 2, have fair exams so you can easily learn from textbook and online. Good luck!
My friend moved from China about 3.5 years ago. He still has a developed chinese accent. However, my friend can not understand the Chinese proffesor who has been here for 15 years. This man speaks in hyroglyphics. He should be studied for translating ancient languages. He has not discovered syllables. cute guy, very charismatic. Would recommend!!!!
Professor Wang can be a challenge due to his heavy accent, but he's a genuinely nice guy who really cares about student learning. His lectures and notes are great if you can get past the language barrier. Using the textbook and tools like unstuckstudy ai can help fill in any gaps. Overall, a solid professor if you put in the effort.
I switched out of his class to get Majed but all I gotta say is that he is hard to understand due to his heavy accent but his notes are easy to follow. Still better than Jung can't lie.
Professor Wang is an amazing teacher. His accent is easy to get used to. Paying attention in his class is very important as he goes in-depth and makes sure you understand what you are doing.
One of the best profs in the math department simply. His accent in the first week scares everyone, but it's easy to get used to it. His notes are by far the best from all, making him an ideal prof. Makes jokes and laughs before every question. He's just got an aura. Cares about students, ex. if they are tired, he ends class like 20 minutes early
Nice professor, enjoyed the course
Professor Wang is a great prof, he's caring and his notes are really detailed. He goes above and beyond explaining concepts to make sure students understands. Attending his lectures are highly recommended and make sure to pay full attention. His accent can be difficult to understand, but once u get it, everything gets easier. CP WANG THE GOAT 🐐🐐
If you are the type of person who understands concepts using practical applications and examples, then I recommend Dr. Wang. Of course, you must get over his accent but once you're there, you'll understand him fine. He is a decent professor overall but if you care more about understanding theory, try switching to Dr. Majed or Dr. Saeid (MTH140).
My goat 🐐. Accent is thick, but very understandable. Goes over many examples and has good in depth explanations. If you have a decent foundation of calc, this course is just a gpa boost.
Despite his accent, I love his class. Following along with note takings and asking him questions is great! I enjoy seeing him during office hours since he s super sweet and nice. He definitely made math my favorite subject this semester :D
Professor Wang is awesome! Always has a smile on his face and gives some of the best lectures. You will do good in the course if you have him as your professor. He does so many examples for each topic so you understand it fully. Before any upcoming midterm or exam he does a review session with the class. Love to have him again!
A really nice guy overall, his in class notes are great and make up for his barely understandable accent. His exam review prepared me well for the final and you can make sense of his notes even if you skipped the lecture where they were taken. Good prof.
Really nice and sweet. His accent did make it hard to understand his lectures but he had nice and clear notes. To do well I think it really depends on the type of learner you are. His lectures basically go over theorem's then straight into difficult practice problems but doesn't really go over the why
A very nice/jolly prof who goes through theory along with examples. However, his think accent sometimes makes concepts hard especially if you're not used to it. Very friendly to students when asking questions.
i love this pookie's accent
professor has a thick accent, is jolly and always smiling, but does not explain concepts, expects the students to just know the concepts on their own, which is an issue in heavy courses like calculus.
Accent Strong and which makes it hard to understand anything he is say at all
His accent is a bit thick and hard to learn with, the last midterm was marked really hard but the curve was huge so it was fine in the end, hes pretty fair.
Cp wang is the best you'll get when it comes to any first year eng MTH course. He has a thick accent but the more you attend his lectures the more you'll understand him. Don't use the text book because his lecture notes are always clear with perfect test examples. Study his lecture slide problems and it's an easy A.
People's issue with him is the accent, once you attend a lecture or two it gets much better. He makes the best notes for any course, far better than every alternative. Very happy professor too, engages with the class and radiates positive energy. Would take him 10/10 times over HA. His tests review is very useful, almost all comes on exam.
Dr. Wang is THE goat. he up there with lebron and brady. He might have an accent but his notes are fantastic, and explanations are easy to follow. Since Dr. ha is the course coordinator, the exams are tough, esp with there being only two exams. I finished the course with a 49%, but this man rounded me up to a 50, I'll forever be grateful to him.
This prof is kind, he has an accent so he is hard to understand at first but its not that bad imo, he also has notes which are easy to understand, his tests and midterms arent that hard but he does mark pretty hard. But for the midterm he gave us a huge curve and for the final he gave us a 5% grade bump I believe so it evens out.
my acc goat. Bro curved the midterm 20% and the final 5%. PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS NAME.
His midterms are a bit hard but his finals exams are relatively easier, his lab quizes are also easy. He loves trig but he gave everyone in my class a 5 percent mark boost at end of the semester.
Honestly a very good guy. His lectures aren't the best because his heavy accent makes it hard to understand him, but he has very good notes. He's a very caring person and will do everything he can to help you understand and do well in the course. He curved 16 marks on the midterm this semester, and boosted everyone's final grades by 5%. Goat.
I don't even pay attention to his lectures because he cannot be understood. Especially when trying to learn a high level of math, it is absolutely comical to me that people who cannot speak fluent English get hired to teach in an English-speaking country. Also, don't bother sending an email for help. He seems to have priorities other than his job.
Go to the lectures! He teaches really well and his notes make sense when you attend lectures. Redo his lecture notes to study for the exams, they are very similar. His accent can make it a little hard to understand but he explains concepts very well. GO TO LECTURES!
I LOVED going to his lectures, I only missed his lecture once because I was sick. He posts notes before the lecture and posts annotated notes afterwards. The way he teaches is great and he makes it easy to understand most concepts. He has a bit of an accent but you'll get used to it. Tests and exams were very reasonable.
wang is the actual GOAT if you take calc at all do not take ha's class take wangs instead because the difference is crazy. hes a bit hard to understand at first but you get used to it and his notes are soo much more clear than ha's. the final exam is easy (midterm is so hard tho) + lab quizzes that vary in difficulty
He has a bad accent but his lecture note are one of the best
Bad accent but really nice guy.
He is a good professor. He's got an accent, which might be hard at first, but you get used to it. He posts his empty lectures previous to the class and then solves all problems during class. He takes his time to explain every detail and he answers all questions. He helps you solve any homework question you have.
You cannot understand a word he says, his is teaching terrible and forgot about asking him a question because he won't explain it properly.
Good prof, accent is not as bad as people say, doing good in this course is simple, just do the hw, which there isnt even a lot of. Also do the past midterm as they're very similar.
The language/accent barrier was discouraging for me as I found myself lost and looking stuff up mid-lectures. However, he is a kind professor and is respected. Another thing that was discouraging is how he does not reply to emails.
His accent at first is a little hard to understand but you get used to it after awhile. He has the best lectures notes and always takes time to review concepts. Make sure to do the homework and show up prepared before class to absorb as much information
Despite his rough accent, CP Wang is the GOAT when it comes to his lecture notes. Although he can explain things a bit complicated sometimes, he always covers the difficult and easy problems. If you show up prepared to his class then expect to do super well in this course
Wang is so sweet! His accent was difficult to understand at the beginning, got used to it over time. He sometimes overcomplicates the answers so I did spend time learning the material on my own with OrganicChemTutor. His in-class review was exactly like the midterm! Do past exams as midterm and final was very similar to the previous year's!
Don't let the ratings trick you—Wang's thick accent and “notes” (basically exam sheets with answers) aren't real teaching. He's polite and smiley but painfully slow, and without AP calc you're toast. Everyone skips to Saieed Samiezadeh's class anyway—he's the only lifeline in MTH140.
Can sometimes be hard to understand. Other than that, he's really nice and always willing to help.
His notes and lectures are amazing and easy to follow through, provided you get past the deep accent. The lessons go through a multitude of easy and difficult problems so that you can understand the material as seemlessly as possible 10/10 would take again!
He doesn't teach you anything. His tests were also extremely difficult.
He just has a bad accent and this course is really hard. So make sure u do the homework and especially his final review.
Just do his problems and ignore his accent .
If you have issues understanding heavy accent he is not for you.
Chanping is a such a sweet man. Always smiling to make an 8 am suck less. Bit of a strong accent at times but you'll understand him in a week. Very helpful.
