Attendance is not required, but is mandatory if you want to do well. If you attend class, pay attention, and take notes, an A+ in the class is easy. Explains things well even though he has an accent. Great sense of humor and will help answer any questions you have during class.
Favorite professor from my first semester. He has an accent but it doesn't impact his ability to teach. His knowledge of the material is great and he always teaches the material thoroughly and correctly. His reviews for the exam cover the whole exam. He's pretty funny and a great guy
Favorite professor from my first semester. His knowledge of the material is great and he always teaches the material thoroughly and correctly. His reviews for the exam cover the whole exam. He's pretty funny and a great guy
This class was so easy!! As long as you actually go to class and pay attention you will get an A. He has an accent but it is very easy to understand him. He is pretty funny too!
Professor Li is one of the most knowledgeable professors I've had. Very funny and keeps your interest. Always willing to help and gets sincere satisfaction from teaching. Always fair and always ready with a witty joke.
When I select the tag "would take again," I really mean it. I would repeat the class all over again just to have this guy as my professor (but I probably would have to fail on purpose... but then that would mess up my GPA... nevermind). Long story short, Changsung Li is the best math professor IMO. I wish he would be in my Calc II class next sem.
It was a really fun class. He always cracked jokes and made the concepts really easy to understand. He will help you if you ask for it.
Changsong is so hot. His accent is great and very stereotypically funny, but ultimately understandable. He wears too much abercrombie, but he rocks it. He teaches the material well, and he definitely knows the underlying theory behind the math he teaches. He is friendly and open to questions. He prepares his classes extremely well for tests.
I love Changsong. He is the hottest teacher in the world!!! The funniest Chinese man in America! He helps all students that needs help and I would definitely take again if I could.
Changsong's the best teacher. I've always been a lover of math, so I thought I'd be bored in this class since I've taken this course before in high school. However, he still made it fun and interesting! Love this class!!!
Changsong, I love you man! Best teacher I had in a long. Keeps class super fresh and always has a joke to tell. He is always available for extra help if needed. PS I want your babies
He is amazing! makes you understand the material, prepares you well for the exams, i am expecting an A in this class and I could not do it without changsong. He is very funny and makes the class go by fast, I hate math, but having him in my class change my thought. Take him seriously you wont regret it!!!!!
Great teacher, he has a moderate accent but its not unintelligible. Also hes basically jackie chan.
Self effacing, laid back, great sense of humor and an amazing teacher. There's not a single reason not to take this guy for Applied Calc. He made Maths so much fun and so easy. Very helpful too. Wish he was teaching Applied Calc 2. Best Maths professor ever. :)
Class isn't mandatory, but would definitely suggest attending and not missing any because lecture is all you need. Not an interesting subject (Applied Calc) but Li is upbeat and energetic, and he's good at keeping one engaged. He gives clear, concise explanations and prepares you well for the quizzes and tests. Beset math teacher I've ever had.
You can't ask for a better math teacher than this guy. He actually managed to make math bearable for me. Hilarious too. The only draw back with him is his distracting good looks. I could have gotten a better grade if I didn't spend all semester so jealous of his handsomeness. Hide yo kids hide yo wife cuz Changsong is irresistible.
Awesome professor. Made the class super easy. I was a littl skeptical because I thought his accent was going to take a toll on the class and it did not. Definitely highly recommend.
The textbook comes with the digital code for math homework. He was so funny. The class moves quickly just take all the notes. I do not recommend skipping or missing any class de tot he fast pace. The THQ's and stared info. in notes are the exams. Study and you will do great. Also, he is very available durning office hours!
I wasn't expecting much for Applied Calc, but this guy is hilarious. It's a boring class, but whenever I did show up for lecture, he was always very upbeat and cracking jokes. Definitely a lot more passionate about the topic than I expected. PS. this guy is so hot, it's ridiculous.
Changsong is incredibly funny and definitely makes calculus enjoyable! He is very passionate about his students and makes sure that everyone is on the same page before continuing on to the next topic. The homework is actually helpful, and there are additional reviews for extra credit points toward tests. I will miss his class! Oh, and he's hot ;)
I went into this class feeling a little intimidated, because of the course, but Changing made it so easy and the lectures were so funny! He is very passionate in teaching and wants all of his students to be successful!!! This was one of the coolest math classes I've taken!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER 3 3 3
AMAZING PROFESSOR. He's hilarious and makes class fun and interesting. Moves at a good pace and always asks if everyone understands the material before moving on. He prepares you very well for the exams. TAKE HIM. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. He's hot too ;) You don't need the textbook because its available online when you purchase the access code to hw.
He's definitely a great Math Professor! Will always ask if you understand the task at hand. He will always try to keep everyone engaged. He tries to help you and prepare you as best as he can for the exams. He's really funny too, and will typically slip in some jokes. Take him, you won't regret it!
Super awesome. Plus he's hot
He's super funny and the class is pretty easy. Just show up and do the work and it's easy. He gives great reviews for the tests. If I have to take math again I'd take it with him. He makes a lot of jokes and makes math easy to learn
Changsong is the best math professor that I've ever had before!! He always makes sure that you understand the material and tries not to bore the class during the lecture.
Chansong is an amazing professor, he is funny and very thorough with his material. Class is was if you pay attention, and he throws in a joke or two to make the class less boring. He really knows the material and can teach it well.
EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Easily one of the best professors I've had. His lectures are great, he's funny, he makes sure everyone understands before he moves on. He always encourages you to visit him. Lots of homework, but it's expected form a Math Class. Take him, he will take care of you and is more than willing to help you out with everything he can.
Great professor. Encourages you to come to him for help. A little hard to understand, but always makes sure everyone understands before moving on. He ends class early the majority of the time and ties in some humor into his lectures. Overall easy and fun lecture to follow.
Best professor ever! And I don't even like math. Him being so hot really helps
Prof. Li is really great. He's got this laid back way of teaching, but he always get the information to you no matter what. Just attend the lectures, take the notes he puts on the board and you'll be fine. also, he has really fast response via e-mail. like 5 minutes response. no joke.
He makes hard material easy with his humor and determination to help you understand. He is honestly one of the best math teachers I have ever had in my entire educational career. His classes fill up FAST, but if you're lucky enough to get a spot, be super thankful. He truly is one of the best math professors.
Best math teacher I ever had. I expected calculus to be really challenging, however with his explanations it turned out to be quite easy. I am taking him for math 1326 I like his teaching so much.
Professor Li is a fantastic teacher. He works very diligently to ensure that you have the best opportunity to understand the material. He cares about you getting through the class and has always made time to chat with me outside of class hours. I would recommend this man,100%! Remember, improper integration is the limit from A/B to infinity!
Changsong is great! Best math professor at UTD!
Professor Li is an amazing professor and he will make Business calculus fun. Calculus is hard but you wont regret taking professor Li. He kinda reminded me of Jackie Chan too jeje.
Take him. You won't regret it. He kinda handsome!
Changsong is such a good teacher. He keeps class interesting and is the no doubt choice for applied calc 2
Very helpful professor and he cares about his students. He is funny when he is not trying. I would recommend taking him for both math 1325 and 1326.
He is a very good professor. I highly recommend take him.
Changsong is probably the best math teacher I have had so far. He made calculus make sense. In high school, I would struggle in my math classes, but after I took calculus with Changsong, I've been getting As in my other math courses. As he said, math is very "natural". Be patient and you will get the right answer. I wish he taught me in MATH1326.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had! I was horrible at math until I took this class. I love calculus now! I would definitely take him again! :))))))))
Amazing professor for my first semester at UTD, transferring from UT Austin. Has definitely been my favorite instructor I've ever had and made me understand math so much compared to previous professors. A+++
Funny, great professor
I took Changsong for MATH1325 & MATH1326. AMAZING professor. He is VERY engaging and makes sure all of his students are on the same page. His lectures go quickly, but you'll get used to the pace. Math is my my strong suit, but he makes this class very enjoyable and makes it easy to me. Side note: laugh at his jokes. they're really funny.
He genuinely cares for his students. I once overheard him say that he'll HANDWRITE next lecture's notes for this student b/c she won't be attending next lecture. . He's hilarious, and his stories are wonderful. Replies to emails in like 3 minutes (SWEAR), and he's good looking! Honestly, my all time fav teacher. ENROLL EARLY HIS CLASS FILLS UP FAST
Absolutely great professor. Always willing to help, excellent at explaining material, and makes sure you understand before he moves on. His funny comments, stories, and singing make class much more enjoyable. I took him for 1325&1326 and wish I can take him again. Rarely makes a mistake but when he does it's because "he's Chinese".
The best math professor I've taken in college, he makes calc seem so easy and explains material so clearly. Some of the stuff I never understood in calc 1325, I understood clearly in his class.
I love Professor Changsong! He is such an amazing professor and genuinely cares about his students. He really wants his students to succeed and proves it by making sure the students understand what is going on. He is very understanding and hilarious! He made calculus an enjoyable class for me. Thank you so much for everything Changsong!!
Changsong is freaking awesome. He truly cares about his students & lectures in a way where things just click! He gives take-home quizzes, online homework, & in-class quizzes each week, but he's there for you. Do the work, take notes, & ask questions! AND he's hilarious - if he saw us not getting it he would stop & tell a joke to "bring us back" :)
He. Is. The. Best. I took him this summer and I just loved it. He made the math easy to understand, always checked with everyone before moving on to the next subject, gives very clear grading criteria, does reviews before the exams, and is extremely funny. If you have the chance take him- he made math fun, easy, and interesting for me.
He is awesome!!!! One the best teachers I've had so far. He makes calculus easy to understand even though the class itself it's hard. He makes sure that everyone understands the material before moving on to the next topic. His reviews are awesome. I would definitely recommend him.
This Guy is AWESOME, best professor ever, his teaching style is great. I TOTALLY recommend him. Gives partial points which helps a lot if you don't get the correct answer but do show your steps...
Changsong Li teaches in a way that is clear, fun, and detailed. He often jokes to bring the class back to the lecture and checks around the room to make sure everyone is on the same page. One of the best professors I've ever had.
So funny and explains amazingly, and yup he's hot!
He writes all the test and quizzes for the department. If that isn't enough he's a pretty good teacher.
first semester he's taught for math 2415, and he is the one who will also make us get a 4.0 because zweck (the head of the dept) loves his theories and just can make this class kind of impossible!! With changsong, he tells you enough to get the exam and still understand fully. He's the one who made our exams much easier, TAKE HIM FOR MATH 2415.
what to add in? Most of the reviews sum him up very well. He's a caring professor who cares about his students. He understands that most people find math boring and doesn't make it more boring. The way he teaches it makes it as easy as it can get. He gives really detailed reviews for the Exams. You just have to study and practice.
He has a great personality. I like that he reviews everything from previous lectures and all the main/important things, it really helps making everything stick to your memory. I think attendance is important to get the best out of his class but if not, just ask someone to sign the sign in sheet for you lol he gives extremely thorough exam reviews!!
Explains well not intimidating and is funny and makes people want to learn math.
Extremely helpful and truly cared about each student understanding the material. Never got mad when students didn't understand something and was very patient. He teaches at the pace of every student not just the top performing students. Not to mention he tries to make ever lecture as painless and humorous as possible! Loved him!
The best math professor at UT Dallas, he is very good at teaching math and if you pay attention you'll do really well in his class plus he is hilarious. 10/10 would take again.
He is the best Calc prof at UTD. He is the only Calc 3 prof who gives reviews for each test and does example problems in class (others do only proofs) . You will regret taking any other prof. He also tells hilarious jokes and sometimes wears pink sneakers. You will not fail with him, I felt completely prepared for every test because he was my prof.
Dr. Li is a great instructor for CALC 3. Always prepared, presents the material very well, is kind, and very amusing. He cares very much about the students knowing and learning the material. There is definitely a general consensus from my class that he is simply awesome. I would 10/10 recommend him if you take calculus of several variables.
Great, funny lecturer.
such a bro! best professor ever
Dude is killer, good lectures, available during office hours, good jokes, clear lectures with well defined examples. This is a pretty tough course but Changsong "Chains On" Li will get you through it.
CHANGSONG IS JUST AN OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR. TAKE HIM FOR CALC OF SEVERAL VARIABLES. I took calc 3 this semester thinking it would be really hard, but Changsong proved me wrong. His jokes every now and then make his class fun. He makes sure that everyone is on board. TAKE HIM.
Took Cal 3 with Li last semester. Really great guy. Like others have said, his jokes are the best and he is always around to help and explain concepts that you might not understand. Overall, really great professor.
He really cares about the students and genuinely wants you to understand the concepts. I hate math and I suck at it, but he made me actually want to go to class. Explains things really well and is very funny in class.
The GOAT
Very funny. Tries hard to keep class entertaining. Very easy class.
Changsong made the class very simple, and the course requirements very clear. He is really funny and made the lectures entertaining. Attendance is not mandatory but I suggest you go.
Lectures are amazing. No surprises on quizzes or exams. Questions all look the same, just different numbers, so if you go to class and follow along with his examples, you'll get a clear understanding of what you'll be tested on. From the beginning, you know he wants you to learn and pass. Really great person.
If you have to take advice from a stranger, NOW this the time to do so. I have never had such an awesome professor in my four years of college. This guy makes learning calc easy and fun! I have always been poor at math and I had an A for most of the semester. He's always willing to help and no surprises ever! TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.
I am terrible at math, like really terrible and Changsong made math fun and easy. Would recommend 10/10.
Like many students have said, he is amazing. I have taken him for calc I and II and he has helped me so much. Makes sure everyone in the class is on the same page. Hardest class I have ever taken, but he helps you along the way as much as possible. He is available all of the time. Very easy to talk to. Best teacher at UTD, no debate.
Hands down, the best professor at UTD! Take him at all cost!!!!
Favorite math professor I have ever had. Doesn't waste your time teaching things that you don't need for quizzes and exams. Relatively young, so he remembers what it was like to be in the students shoes. He is entertaining, so it makes lectures a lot less painful to sit through.
Professor Li is an amazing professor that truly wants every student to succeed. God bless this man!!!!
EVERY math class at utd is difficult, but this professor is the best at making it easier. He's a little intense and answers questions kinda roughly but he will help and make the information clear. Just ask questions and participate, do the homework, and GO TO EVERY CLASS. he's your best option.
He teaches really good. Hands down the best professors for this class. I recommend him for anyone taking Math 1325.
I struggle with Calculus so I decided to take Applied Calc to shore up my weaknesses before taking Calc I again. I feel MUCH more prepared thanks to Dr Li.
WOW. This is the single most amazing human being in the galaxy. He makes math absolutely fun and interesting. YOU HAVE NEVER IN YOUR LIFE ever met a professor as passionate and as fun to listen to as Changsong Li. I need you to understand something, this man is second to none. Truly a brilliant gem here at UTD! I will definitely take him again!
My favorite professor in all of UTD!! He's awesome
He is an amazing teacher that uses simple and easily understood methods. Professor Li is very organized and shows the concepts step by step. I am terrible at math and he made the class much more tolerable. I wish he taught every math course at UTD, because the other teachers pale in comparison.
Best professor ever at UTD. Cares about his students, and wants everyone to succeed!
He is a very good Math teacher, if you are not good at math, he will give you a better way to learn easier. Don't afraid of math, changsong know the easy way.
Mr. Li makes you want to get up early in the morning just to get to class. He knows how to make you laugh sincerely, and his jokes will make you forget that you are taking a calculus class. If you talk to him during lecture, he'll make sure you understand and get you a good grade.
Dr. Li is one of the best professors I've ever had. He's one of the few professors where I enjoyed going to class. He is funny and great at explaining the material. The only reason I didn't get an A, is because I'm lazy. If you have the chance to take Dr. Li, you should.
Super easy class. there are a lot of homework and quizzes but they are all super easy.
If you have the opportunity to take Changsong for anything, do it! I've had a lot of math professors and he is the best by a long ways. He makes calculus easy to understand and is hilarious. You will not be disappointed.
Dr. Li is hands down the best. He wont drone on about useless information. He hates the head of Cal 3 and basically fights for us to not be overworked by the department head. He makes sure we only know what is useful and not get stuck in the minute details. Plus he makes you laugh and have fun all class. Take Changsong if you can he is the best.
Best professor I've had by far! Cares about his students and makes calculus easy. I could not ask for more.
Best professor ever at UTD!
At UTD all math prfessors give a standardize homework because all students should be on the same playing field. I was lucky enough to take both applied calc 1 and 2 with Changsong. He is really good at math and he knows how to explain it to students. I would go to his office to get help really often and he would always gladly explain things to me.
Most amazing math professor that I've had at UTD. Take him! He makes learning math fun and easy.
Very engaging and consistently helpful when explaining things, take him if you get the chance
He is the best professor for math by far at UTD. He makes every lecture engaging and fun. I had him in the morning and we were all tired and not talking a lot. However, his jokes made us liven up and enjoy the class. I have never enjoyed a math class as much as I enjoyed his. Take this professor if you can!! He is great and always there to help!
To start off, Changsong Li is a very engaging & humorous person who teaches lessons very thoroughly, so it's not that difficult at all to get an A! His weekly quizzes aren't really challenging & neither are the tests, but studying doesn't hurt & it's crucial at some times (or all, depends). I highly recommend him if you're taking this course!
Quite possibly the best lecturer at all of UTD! I came excited to class everyday to learn from him and if you have the opportunity to take him you definitely should. He made learning difficult concepts easy and fun, and is hilarious to listen to. He answers all questions in a very caring and respectful manner and can't recommend him highly enough!
One of the best professors I've ever had! Take him. Fair grading, attendance is not mandatory but it will earn his respect. He is absolutely hilarious, makes Calculus fun - I hate math, and yet I actually look forward to coming to class. He will give you every opportunity to succeed and will keep your interest while learning Calc.
He is so funny and his class is so much fun, he has a bit of an accent but he is easy to understand. His tests are pretty straightforward and grades fairly. Definitely my favorite professor I have had yet at UTD.
Haven't taken a math course for 2+ years, took Applied Calc I with Changsong and got an A+ for my final course grade. Show up to class, take really good notes, do all of your quizzes and online hw, there is no reason you shouldn't pass his class with an A. He's very caring and takes the time to explain anything you don't understand.
Best professor ever! He explains everything clearly and will repeat a million times if you ask. He is always nice and willing to help students. I recommend him to every student that has to take math!
Worse class. Exams are hard. Lectures move too fast. Im an A student and I received a C in his class.
Lecture heavy. Overall okay professor.
I like him for applied Calc 1 but for applied Calc 2 he was awful!
I would recommend him for MATH 1325, but not for MATH 1326. For MATH 1326, he goes way too fast and this causes him to have sloppy handwriting that is hard to read, especially if you don't sit in the front row. His performance dropped from a 5 in Math 1325 to a 1 in Math 1326.
He's an amazing professor! He makes sure all of his students understand the content before moving on to the next concept. He gives many examples. The THQs are easy and the quizzes and exams are the same questions with different numbers from the THQ.
Would highly recommend taking him for Applied Calc. You can tell he really cares about you learning the material so that you will breeze through the 3 exams. He makes a lot of jokes and makes the teaching not boring. If you show up and do the take home quizzes you will easily get an A.
First time taking professor Changsong and the exams are ten times harder than his lectures. I dont know why he moves so fast in his lectures and they dont help with THQs or actual exam questions. Good luck if you choose to take him.
Professor Li is great! He's funny and he explains things in such a way that they just seem to click. Digital Homeworks are kind of a waste of time, but do them for the grade. Focus on THQs and PRACTICE THEM.. Exams are simply modified versions of the THQs.
This professor is amazing. He'll make you feel like you can do math really well- even if you suck at it. He lectures a lot and does go kind of fast, but it is a lot of info to fit into the class. If you skip you can pass, I wouldn't recommend it though. There's a paper and online hw every week and attendance is technically not mandatory.
I have him for 1326, and even though hes a funny professor, his class is EXTREMELY lecture HEAVY. Hell go over things and problems that arent even on the exam. I wouldnt recommend taking him for 1326.
Li explains Cal in a way that is easy to understand. The negative comments below are ppl blaming their poor work ethic on the professor. Calculus isn't easy for most people, so you have to put extra effort in. I haven't taken math in over 6 years and will finish Cal 2 with an A+ because I put the work in and because Li is a great professor.
I mean the class isnt to hard to pass but the only problem is if you ask a question during class he makes you look stupid in front of the whole class. Also when you go to his office hours and ask questions he will ask if you pay attention in class and tell you to ask questions during class since he hates repeating himself. Cant skip class though.
Professor Li clearly outlines everything that needs to be done to get an A in this class. You're expected to have ATLEAST some level of competency in basic Algebra and Math 1325 taken before. If you show up to class and do the home works you're golden. Majority of negative comments are students who take the class without competency in the pre-reqs.
For his review for the FINAL, word for word, he said if you only study my review, you will fail the final. Which is ridiculous because shouldnt he make the review for the final, actually A RELIABLE REVIEW for it? So dont take him if you want to actually learn about whats on the exam. You have to figure it out yourself!
Hes an ok calc 2 professor, but his teaching styles are different from the other professors. And the comment below where they say you need AT LEAST calc 1/algebra knowledge, dont know what theyre talking about. Even if youve taken those classes WITH HIM, calc 2 is a whole new ball game. Dont expect then to even be close.
If you're considering taking him for MATH 1326, then I would suggest taking another teacher. I'm studying for the review right now, and I'm realizing how much he didn't prepare us for the subject. I received an A in his MATH 1325, yet I'm struggling in this class. Maybe it has to do more with the subject than him, but I still feel cheated.
Great Prof! He is an awesome Prof. The class is very hard but do what the professor says and follow what he says in class and you will pass for sure! He cracks jokes in class. Work hard and do all your work and you might even get an A. PS - The best way to do the THQ is by doing the online HW first!
You can easily pass this class simply by going to lecture. He explains everything very well, although quickly. If you struggle a little, keep doing the DHW and THQ and you will understand it better. Lots of homework but it really helps to understand better. Also, if you go to his office hours, he will work with you and make sure you understand.
Honestly the best math teacher! He explains the concepts so nicely, in an understandable manner. Hes really funny and simple guy! Attend class, take notes, do the THQs and DHWs and you should be good!
Changsong is an amazing professor. He is so funny and makes calculus enjoyable. He explains the concepts so well and really makes the class easy. Do the homework and go to class and you'll get an A.
I 100% recommend taking him for MAth1325, he explains concepts so well and makes sure you try to understand everything. Although this class does have online and take home homework and a quiz due every week, the tests are almost identical to what's on your THQ and quizzes just with different numbers. Plus, he's high key funny!
He's an amazing prof, but his lectures are all based on him writing on the board while explaining what he is doing. He does not pass out any worksheets so it is up to you to copy down the notes. He does go a little fast, but he is great at answering questions and as long as you show up, you'll pass.
He's an AMAZING professor. exams are just like the THQs & quizzes (which are just like THQ) so not possible to not get an A. ONLY problem is that he says if we have any questions to ask him or come to his office hours for more help. But when I went, he accused me of not paying attention in class and he berates students for asking "dumb" questions.
He is a super cool guy. Really nice and wants to help his students. If you go to his office hours he really likes that. The reviews he does for the tests are basically the test questions just different numbers. He really cares about his students. However, he does go somewhat fast when explaining and he tends to skip some steps.
This was one of the only classes I looked forward to attending this semester. He's knowledgeable, laid back, hilarious, and has the most impressive collection of vacation shirts I have ever seen. Do the homework and understand the concepts and you'll have a very rewarding learning experience.
mah boiiii Changsong. He's awesome. If you can take him for 1325 DO IT!
Changsong made a difficult class a joy with constant jokes and entertaining lectures! I cannot recommend him enough for calc III! Textbook use was minimal as only a couple homework questions came from the book. Changsong takes time to explain the course conceptually and doesn't tend to want students to just memorise formulas.
Funny professor with a decent teaching style. Great guy overall.
Dr. Li was by far my favorite professor this semester. He manages to keep every lecture engaging with his humor and general passion for the subject. He also does a goob job at introducing topics at a conceptual level, as well as given plenty of concrete examples. He's defintiely one of my favorite math teachers that I've had at UTD.
Changsong (as he asks you to call him) is an amazing and caring professor. He tries his hardest to make sure students understand the material, and is hilarious. The subject itself is somewhat difficult, and you will have to spend a significant amount of time on homework, but he wants you to succeed and does not make it particularly difficult.
Really enjoyed taking his class a couple of semesters back. Would recommend!
He's really funny and made calculus really easy to understand. If he knows that everyone is confused, he will go over the content again. He will answer all your questions in class and is really nice. He's very chill and assignments are just like the notes. 100% would recommend him!
Awesome class. you aren't given room to get behind, which can be easy when there is only two exams and a final. there are in class quizzes every week, but there are no surprises and they don't try to trick you. the quizzes are the same as the homework with different numbers. Dr. Li is great. he is funny and easygoing. great at teaching too! 10/10!!
I took AB Calc and made a 3. This legendary prof makes it so easy for anyone in JSOM or EPPS. My tip is do DHW (online) first, then THQs, and study them. No more trig derivatives, but regular derivatives. There's should no reason to not do awesome in this class. He has a bit of an accent but he will crack you up. He shall bring honor to us all! lol
He may be good on traditional teaching but AVOID taking him online. He teaches nothing, he only provides with a powerpoint which he reads from.. for a math class!! He admitted that he doesnt want to give students enough time for quizzes or exams all administered on webassign, why?.. is this a math class or a race? Doesnt even respond to emails
He never replied to email, and doesnt help students at all, he made class tougher by not allowing enough time on webassign to submit quizzes and exams. No partial credit, if you type in the question incorrectly (extra space, wrong direction on equation etc) even if your answer is right u get it wrong, and cant email him about it cuz he dont care
He read from a powerpoint which is not university standard for any advanced math class, he expected the most from his students while he as a professor was lazy by not teaching the course properly and by not even caring enough to grade us on exams and relying on Webassign to grade us unfairly, no partial credit on exams, not enough time.
I have no idea why he has this many reviews. He takes points off the simplest mistakes when other teachers will just give it to you. Other teachers has let other kids turn in their hw late in emergency situations, Li does NOT care! He is ready to give out zeros. My test grades go from an 80 something to 70 something because of how he grades.
It is very disheartening when you turn in assignments correctly but have points taken off just for an extra parenthesis or lack of. Late penalties for you exams, can take you from a high grade to a very mediocre grade. His lectures are BORING, i end up teaching myself. Other teachers are so much more nice and understandable towards your situation.
Taking his class made me depressed, the way the homework is graded is pretty unfair, our of 10 question he only grades 3 that are randomly picked. If you happen to get one of wrong your grade legit lowers to a 60, even if every other of the 9 questions are right. He wont reconsider, tests and quizzes give no partial credit, not enough time, bad bad
Li uses slides for the lectures which is helpful for the PHW. He wants you to do well in the course and got us to be allowed to have a cheat sheet for exams. You need to understand the concepts. He gave hints on what would be on exams and quiz. He is also funny in class. PHW more important than DHW. Do past exams. He wants you to ask questions.
A math class should never rely on powerpoints to teach concepts and calculation techniques, what he does is he types the math, so you are left trying to figure out what he did, sometimes he doesnt even workout the solution and just writes the answer, how is anyone supposed to learn this way? Worst part is that he is so strict but doesnt even teach
The PWH is a huge scam in this class, only 3 random problems get graded out of 10 questions, if you answered one of those wrong but everything else is correct, you are out of luck, your grade can drop to like 60 on that HW. He never answered emails, gave no chances but him as a prof. did not hold himself to the same standard as the students.
Avoid him. He clicks through slides and always sounds like a disappointed father when you ask a question. Take someone else.
This guy and Baris are both a disappointment to the math department at UTD. The exams are nonsense and their excuse is COVID. He clicks through the slides as someone already mentioned and although he is funny, he really wants to fail you if you don't think math is the end all be all. The HW's take a few hours. Skip this prof if you can for sanity
Dr Li is a great professor! This class can be tough at some points but it is very easy to get an A with hard work! I highly recommend Dr li for future classes
Avoid at all costs! This professor seems to think of his students as his enemies, he is ready to fail you. I don't think he likes to give good grades, he takes every chance he gets to make his class a miserable experience for his students, if you can take someone else you won't regret it like I regret having taken him!
This class is tough, there is no question about this. But the difficulty of the material is not the worst part, the worst part is how unnecessarily difficult this man makes his class, he doesn't want you to pass, this class is structured for the majority to fail and only for "serious students" to pass, and to top it all up.. he doesnt even teach !
Professor Li's class isn't a blow-off class. If you put in effort, you'll do great in his class. His lectures are really well thought-out, notes was made with great care, homework is extremely reflective of the exams. Li's a really caring and funny guy, if you have a question don't be afraid to ask.
I did not enjoy this class, too much homework and unclear instruction from his part, he is funny but comes off as rude from time to time. I would not take again, too much stress from this class.
Took during COVID. Barely any word problems on exam (Only the last test had word problems and still very minimal). Test and quiz questions are very similar to PHW. DHW is on person and person is always a pain, but the material was pretty simple. Prof Li is nice and explains things very clearly. He has an accent, but accents never bothered me anyway
