great professor. i highly recommend this instructor. We rarely use our textbook and there's no homework. three tests in the semester and he tells you what is going to be on the tests. Everything that you need to know is on his notes.

Great professor ever in the finance department. It is because of him that I wanted to become a finance major. 3 tests no final or paper. Everything on the tests are directly from the notes. Create a good cheat sheet and you will be fine on the tests. Very funny at times. Teaches the materials very clear and always repeats back. Recommend him!! :)

The class is easy. All of the exam questions are based on the notes and homework solutions. Just put the examples on your cheat sheet and you will do well in the class.

He ranks in the top three of the best professors I have learned from. Everything is clear and easy to understand from the notes, lectures, and exams. His teaching style is very entertaining while still covering an immense amount of material. Dr. Phengpis also as a great sense of humor. He does not try to be funny, he is just naturally funny.

grade consists of 2 midterms and a final (noncumulative). Dr. Phengpis is probably the most helpful professor you will ever have. lectures are beyond clear and he gives you note outlines that you just fill in. he allows one note sheet for tests. this being said, you can't just skate by. tests can be difficult and studying is necessary for an A.

I would say Chanwit is by the far the best finance professor at CSULB. i actually learned and retained quite a bit of knowledge from his class. there is no book. his class notes are extremely extensive. DO NOT MISS CLASS! If you're good at math and dedicated, you'll do fine.

You REALLY need to study if you want to do well. Must attend every class if you want to be up-to-date with his notes. Exams are difficult due to time constraint. Study, study, study!

He is intense. You must attend each class otherwise you will be completely lost. Doesn't use a textbook but his own lecture notes. Exams are timed (2 mins per problem) so you must spend time practicing. Cannot slack off in this class but it's worth it. Learned more from him than any other professor.

Outstanding professor. He is certainly intense but that is a good thing. He is genuinely interested in helping students learn as much as possible. He does not use a book. He creates his own notes and follows them closely during lectures. If you attend all classes and study for the exams you should do well in his class.

Follow his notes, do exercises then you will get A, I like his class a lot, even though his English is not native but for sure, no problem understanding!

Teaches at a very fast pace and you MUST learn to keep up. You will love or hate his method of teaching. Either way, his class is easily passable as long as you follow his instructions and attend class. He curves and there is no group project. I learned more in his Fin class than any other, but I do suggest taking a migraine pill before class, hehe

No book is required for the class which is nice. He typed out class notes and follows them to the T. This is very helpful since his teaching style is very fast paced. You must attend class, do homework, and pay attention during review sessions, but if you're a good student you will do well. Very knowledgeable professor. I would recommend him.

Professor is funny and very helpful. I emailed him for questions and got responses within minutes. Go to class, it's a must. Review notes and do homework problems. I crammed before every exam the night before and still got an A. I don't recommend this approach though.

Must go to class. Book only needed for HW. He has notes for you that you just need to print out. EXTREMELY fast paced but if you study for tests you should be fine. Great prof and definitely recommend.

Great Prof and very funny! Has a great ability to break down the material and explain it in an easy to understand way. Has a packet that you fill out as you go through class, which makes it easy to review when it comes time for the test. Tests aren't too bad as long as you can do each problem he assigns (HW & test) in under 2 minutes.

Are one of Prof. Phengpis' many hilarious exclamations during his lengthy, intensive, pre-outlined-note-taking lectures, that make all of the confusing parts of finance bearable. GREAT PROFESSOR, I loved his class. His way of teaching is fun and entertaining. He has an accent but its a funny cute accent. He is their to help you when you need it. His exams are very hard but not impossible. This is the only class you must take to fully understand finance. He made my other finance classes a breeze. Highly recommend this guy!

I loved going to his class. Fast-paced so pay full attention to lectures. Although he has an accent, he makes sure students understand what he is talking about. Dr. Phengpis is an extremely funny professor. He knows how to break down complex finance concepts so that students will understand them. You'll have to get used to his heavy accent as his lectures are crucial for doing well in the exams. Your grade is based on 3 exams and 5% attendance, so attendance is mandatory if you want to do well.

Exams are very difficult. When you take his exams you can't be blanked out otherwise you are pretty much screwed since you have a lot of problems to calculate in a very short amount of time given. Also, he likes to pick the hardest problem for the exam. All exam questions are calculation.

Easy A if you do this: time yourself doing the hw so that for the first two tests you can do all the problems in under 2 minutes. (I got a 101% on the second midterm because of this method). for the final, under 3 minutes. Make use of your cheat (formulas and ALL conceptual stuff). FINAL CAN REPLACE ONE OF THE MIDTERMS. (your grade is 2 Mid & 1 F)

I loved his class. He had a great since of humor, and an absolute sweetheart. Always available for office hours, and extremely helpful. He teaches based off his notes that he has already prepared for you. In order to get a good grade , practice the homework and note problems over and over. His test are no different from hw problems/ note problems

Professor Phengpis's lectures are designed extremely structured , so you can go home and study the information. This is a class that you have to do math problems until you master the material. Go to all class meetings and study. Easy B or A.

Professor Phengpis is very passionate and great. He makes class enjoyable with his witty remarks and jokes. As others have mentioned, time yourself when doing the HW in order to pass your exams! You'll rely heavily on your financial calculator throughout the class. I'm a human resource major, but now I love finance!

Your grade depends on 3 tests and attendance (he occasionally takes). His lectures might seem fast-paced but not hard to follow. You must go to class to understand the concepts. Plus, he's hilarious. Hw (which is on the book) is not collected but definitely helps when studying for the tests. Easy B, if you study really hard maybe an A.

Professor Phengpis was an excellent teacher!! He made everything very clear to understand. The class is based on tests, but if you show up to class everyday and take good notes you will do well. I actually got by without the textbook; I just studied my notes carefully before the exam and I ended up with a B in the class. I definitely recommend him!

Definitely study, 1st test is pretty easy, 2nd test, difficult and final covers a lot. Noncumulative. Attendance is graded, try to sit in front if you can and pay attention. Grade: 95% from exams and 5% on attendance (he checks on random days) 2 exams and 1 final. He gives an extra credit opportunity if necessary. Lectures are fast paced and he has a pretty thick accent. People us that as an excuse to fail. Engages with students during lecture. Homework is optional but encouraged to help you pass the exams.

He has a VERY strong accent that takes a few weeks to understand. You must pay attention in class to understand the material. He moves very quickly during lectures. Grade is solely based on test. He reviews the day before and tell you what you need to know for the test. He cares about you actually trying and if you do try you'll pass.

There's two tests and one final, noncumulative. You get one side of a paper to use as a cheat sheet for each test so make really good use out of it! Especially for the final.

It's just a hard class for a lot of people but he tries his best to explain it. Lots of diagramming timelines and working through problems in class to help you understand it better. If your final exam score is higher than either of the first two he'll replace it with the higher grade.

If you're nervous taking Finance, take it with Phengpis! Finance 300 was one of the easiest classes I've ever taken, & I'm not even a Finance major. He uploads the notes online & you just print them out and bring them to class, he makes sure you know how to do each problem, allows cheat sheets for exams, & also gives EC at times. And do the HW!!

He is really great. He knows how to energize the class (even though I took a night class). Really specific during lectures, tells you exactly how to do the problems. No curve balls on the test. The final was a little bit harder. I had a high B in class until I got to the final. I really recommend him.

WOW! Professor Phengpis is the best professor I've had this semester due to his handling of the COVID-19 class transition to online. He understands that many of us are struggling to learn online and offered to give us 50 points simply for attempting the exam online. He is funny in class and really wants you to learn! Took his FIN 300 class over the summer and I can honestly say he is definitely one of the best professors out there, even though at times it's hard to understand his accent. 80% exams (open book, open notes), 10% attendance, 10% online quizzes. Take him you won't regret it, super caring guy and he has an interesting curve as well he go based on.

Professor Phengpis was very prepared and organized even when COVID hit halfway through the semester. The best part about his class is that he has very clear notes that have all the formulas and important information you need to do to get you ready for the exams. The homework is very important and book was very affordable.

Great professor. He really wants you to learn and helps you succeed through his easy to follow notes that he made himself. He can go pretty fast sometimes, but you gotta understand he has like 25 pages of chapters to go through in 2 classes. He will stay after class to answer any questions you might have and responds to emails pretty quickly.

He explains the class material clearly and if you dont pay attention you can always go back and rewatch the lecture since he records them. East/South East Asian representation is incredibly important in America. As long as you do the practice questions and pay attention to in class, you will get an A. He gives packets and notes that are easy to follow. Test questions won't be exactly the same as the homework but that is why you need to focus on the concepts.

My favorite teacher for business so far. He has custom notes so you will not get bored with textbook learning. You fill in as you listen in class. Remember to review mainly the notes and hmw problems as they are similar to tests. He records and posts lectures and grades within 48 hours. He uses real-world finance/stock questions so it can be fun.

I took Finance 300 during the last six weeks of summer class online. He provides class notes for each chapter and you just follow along to write with him. Also, he records lectures every time and post them on BeachBoard. Open notes on exams and a few quizzes on each chapter. I would definitely recommend him for business finance professor.

Three exams, lockdown + webcam. Physical copies of notes are allowed on exams/quizzes so it is paramount to attend lecture and take good notes. Attendance is taken usually at least once a week. For exams, make sure all your notes are complete with both conceptual knowledge and problem sets. Also, utilize the HW key + compiled HW problem packet.

Randomly checked attendance. A few proctored quizzes, but open note and 5 questions. Very exam and math heavy. Homework is optional, but KEY to being successful.

Attendance counts and his grading criteria is clear and fair. Exams play a huge part in your grade so it is important that you still study to the best of your abilities.

Awesome professor! Makes the class follow along with premade notes, but they are EXTREMELY helpful and easy to understand. He makes the math so easy to grasp from his lectures. He has some 'tude haha but if you're not on the receiving end of it he's very funny and a great lecturer. He breaks everything down for you in lecture and his class notes. Go over & Know how to solve the practice problems from the class notes, they're very identical to the exam calculation qs. Aside from calc qs, prepare for the conceptual qs or include info for it on ur cheat sheet to maximize points for the 1st exam and on. Cheat sheet helped but don't completely rely on it as exam time is limited!

Professor Chanwit makes finance easier than it seems. His premade notes are incredibly helpful, and he has a good sense of humor that keeps the class engaging. Definitely use tools like Unstuck AI alongside studying the material to ace the exams.
