I am currently taking Professor Powell's class. Been in her class for 5 weeks. She is the BEST!EXTREMELY HELPFUL. She wants every student to succeed. Returns emails quickly. Will go over material if you do not understand it. She is very clear on what she expects from her students. I learned so much from her. Chara Powell is nice & professional.

Been on her first teaching career and she was realy awesome. Tests materials mostly came from notes and she teaches very clearly. Took her for summer course and i got an A. plus she wants the students to succeed. Definitely recommends her.

She is a good teacher, however studying and class attendance is required! She truly wants everyone in the class to succeed and will offer extra help if you still do not understand the material by the end of the class session.

I'm taking Professor Powell this semester, and I have to say she is the best professor i have had thus far. She is very helpful, wants her students to pass her class and will do anything in her power to make it happen. She takes time out of her schedule and has voluntary study sessions a day before the test. I truly recommend her SHE IS THE BEST!!

She is a very awesome teacher. If you study you will pass with an A. She does study time with her students, and gives out pizza. She has amazing stories to tell about her other job. If I didnt have a major already I would choose pysch because of her.

Professor Powel is a great instructor! She devotes an immense amount of her time to meet with the student, have her students involved in study sessions, and is always a helping hand. The fact that you do not take her help, is certainly upon the student for him/her self. I would definitely recommend her to everyone!

Awesome professor!!! Her study sessions really help prepare you for exams. She's so funny and tells great stories. She tells you exactly what to expect for exam. She's kinda cheesy which I loved. It's important to attend class because she throws in test questions about the examples she lectured about. (Easy questions if you attend class) A+ !!!

She is one of the best psych prof at SAC. She teaches with passion and you can tell she absolutely loves psychology. Exams are easy if you study. She tells you a lot about her experiences and wants you to learn. She is clear in what she wants and she is really cool!she also holds study sessions.

Consider yourself lucky if you get to take her class. She is AMAZING! i have taken 6 psychology classes, and she is by far the best teacher i have ever had. she is clear, helpful, and beyond HILARIOUS! she truly loves what she does, and goes an extra 10 miles to help her students succeed. it was a pretty easy class, and she made it interesting.

Seriously best professor ever. lectures mostly every class so its important to go but she makes her lectures interesting with videos and sometimes they're funny. she's very laid back and easy to talk to. definitely dedicates to help her students succeed! hands down the best professor I've had at sac.

Fantastic professor! She is very clear when lecturing and will explain things multiple times when students don't understand. She also tells funny stories and really does care about her students. This class is easy to pass as long as you study well and do what little work she gives! Study all of her slides and you'll have no problem with this class.

Didn't open the book once and got an A. DON'T BUY IT! Study the lecture slides (especially the pictures) and you ace the quizzes and exams. Passionate professor. Makes you want to major in Psych. Two thumbs up

Professor Powell gives clear instruction on assignments and uses experience to make the material more interesting and useful. Participation and attendance are important. She is a very understanding and approachable instructor. Attend class regularly, complete assignments and participate often and you'll do well in her class.

There are 3 test and quizzes that are at the beginning of the class so don't be late! There is a group project, but she guides you through each step. Power points are important to read and the book is helpful. Such an amazing personality, doesn't judge and genuinely cares. Really passionate about her job and makes us feel like we can do this.

well i just want to say that professor chara is one of the best Psych professor ever.... she is amazing, helpful, young and Chill ..A MUST TAKE (Thumps Up) study well and listen to what she say.. attend her class and you will get an A took 4 classes with her so far....

one of the best professors ive ever had. 39 out of 40 students stayed enrolled through the semester. material is dry but she kept everybody engaged. genuinely cared for her students success in and out of the classroom. tests can be tricky but definitely not impossible. i participated in other professors research experiments but ours were the best!

good professor tests are okay as long as you listen in lectures and read all the lecture notes,you'll pass with A. Recommend you to print out lecture notes instead of trying to write everything on the screen cos a lot of the things on the test are not on the slides but other things she says so write that instead on the printed slides as extra notes

Professor Powell is a charming professor! Her lectures are pretty straightforward she likes to teach with power-points, but likes to spend time on the slides to make sure you understand the concepts. Plus shes also a cutie!

Chara is one of my favorite professors. She really loves psychology and has a passion and love for her students and patients. She will have study sessions before the tests so you can ask questions. She will give you lots of extra credit opportunity. She is very sweet and genuine. She respects all students' questions and comments. TAKE HER!!!

Professor Powell is an awesome teacher! She's super chill and the class is easy. Just show up and pay attention to her lectures. At times, I had to restrain myself from laughing so hard because she is hilarious. This class made me consider majoring in psych.

Need the book to do quotes for each ch. Go to class for participation points and pay attn to her lecture. Go to her study sessions, extremely helpful. Only bad thing is that she doesn't upload her slides until right before class. Rent your book from Amazon. More HW than expected, just time consuming but not hard. She cares about her students.

BEST class I've taken at Mt Sac She's so funny & made me want to go to my 8 a.m Her lectures are so passionate, I feel like I had a friend to professor relationship with her rather than student to professor. Literally the best professor I've ever had the pleasure to learn from!!! She has an amazing personality and exhibits a great amount of sensitivity all around. Probably my favorite professor at Mount SAC. I've taken her for Intro to Psych, Abnormal Psych and I'm planning on taking her for Developmental Psych as well. Her class is easy and all you need to do is pay attention to her lectures in order to pass.

Hands down the best professor I have ever had and maybe ever will! Wish I had taken her earlier so I could have taken more classes with her! She genuinely wants the best for her students and always makes sure that they feel comfortable to talk to her. She shares so much about her experiences and it helps us relate during lecture.

This was my favorite class, she was so funny and the assignments are easy and clear. She also goes over what will be on the exams in her lectures, so make sure you attend class and take notes. The textbook isnt THAT boring but she uses it for homework.

Professor Chara was awesome! If you take psych of women, make sure Powell is teaching! She talked throughout class but made it so interesting it felt like I was only in class for a few minutes! She did create a safe space for opinions/thoughts/acceptance. Her hw was very easy and her exams were super easy!Professor Powell is very nice and outgoing!

Prof. Powell is one of my favorite professors that I've ever had. Even though research methods was a tough class, she was always available to take questions and would happily help any student who came to her. Chara is hands down the best professor I have had yet. I took her for Ab-psych and again for my research and methods. She makes you work for your grade, but makes sure to give you all the tools you need to get an A. She even does a study session outside of class before every test. She also offers extra credit. I took it online, but it was worth it. Every week you few things to do. You have two disscustion boards in which you choose three quotes to talk about (due every friday), then you respond to classmates (Due sunday) then you had a quiz, but you can retake it until you get 100%. (Due every sunday as well) Easy A. The final was tough though. STUDY!

Professor Powell is the best professor I've ever had. She's hilarious and makes psychology seem so interesting. Her teaching method is so different and it makes the subject much more digestible. Her exams are pretty easy too. Only 4 homework assignments for the entire quarter! Long story short, just take her class, you'll love her!

I took professor Powell for Fall 2018 and she is honestly AMAZING! Makes class fun and enjoyable for everybody. Two exams were given in class not including the final exam, but if you pay attention youll do fine. She lectures good enough to understand providing useful examples that make the material easy to understand. She is amazing and Hilarious!

Easily the best psychology class I have ever taken. Chara is one of those teachers that are actually in it to teach you. My final involved doing something unique that teaches about psychology. As a writer, I wrote a work of fiction. On the final day, she stopped me and said she had so much fun reading my work (which I kinda rushed admittedly).

She is kind and very clear on her grading criteria. Because I took this class online, I had to stay organized. The work is time-consuming, especially for a 6 week period, but not very difficult. I used the textbook on reserve @ the library. Chara is easy to work with when I asked questions or emailed!

Took her online PYSC 14 class for winter. Since it was just 6 weeks you had to keep up on the work. It was a lot of class discussions and quizzes every week. Book is required! She always responded to my emails in a timely manner. The class was not difficult just time consuming, I really enjoyed the class (-:

Professor Powell is a very kind and amazing person. I would recommend this class to everyone. She does do open discussions about each chapter, but she does not force you to talk. I would put as much into this class as you can because it is worth it. Her homework is not overwhelming and she makes her tests fair. I had a very good experience with her

Professor Chara is a great asset to the psych department & Mt. Sac! She provides clear guidelines, expectations, & instructions! 3 tests, 1 research paper (group) + project, inquisitive & labs; she reinforces the course guidelines and material without sacrificing her coolness factor. Our group was struggling, but she helped us get back on track!

Prof. Powell is awesome and her class is very organized and simple. Textbook is necessarily. Definitely would recommend to take for psyc14. Discussion posts every week, quizzes and exams. Class isn't difficult at all but you have to set out time to complete assignments and read the book. Easy A!!

Did this class online, very convenient! Chapter a week, weekly discussion posts, weekly quizzes, interesting reflection assignments, and 4 exams! She also has extra credit opportunities. Very much enjoyed this class, learned a lot and she reassured that she was available and there for any concerns. Highly recommend!

I took Professor Powell when quarantine began and the transition was smooth. She was always clear on what was to be due at the end of each week and she would permit extensions. I found that reading was all I needed to understand the material but she does have Zooms to go over the CH. slides. 3 tests, a big project (don't work alone, it's a lot!)

I absolutely love Professor Chara! She is so amazing and sweet. I really enjoyed her abnormal psych class. She made class really interesting and fun. She is also very caring and will help you if you are struggling. Definitely recommend her.

Class is tight and lots of work! All test and quiz materials are online if you google them. I wouldn't take her again once you pass this class though.

Got an A. The test and hw answers are online if you google. The tests are based on lectures and the powerpoints. Plenty of homework to do in this class and don't fall behind!

Professor Powell is amazing. With the transition to online courses recently, she made everything clear, specific and easy to understand. If you need to take a psychology course I HIGHLY recommend starting with this professor. She checked on us multiple times during the pandemic, very caring and understanding. Offers substantial extra credit.

I believe everyone in my group got an A last semester, but that's only because classmates had access to illicit material. I got a B and I think the class should be audited because it was completely unfair. Other than that, nice lady and very kind! I just wished the cheaters were caught!

Offers plenty of extra credit oppurtunities, gives you multiple attempts on open book quizzes, and even allows you two chances on your final! Incredibly kind and understanding, Powell is the psych professor you need!

Super easy class! Weekly chapter readings, discussion posts based off the chapters and chapter quizzes to end the week. The schedule is the same every week so there really is no reason NOT to pass, unless you don't understand the material. She does not accept late assignments, so remember to submit by the due dates, Friday & Sunday. Do the work!

If you want an easy online class and a professor that cares, TAKE THIS! All I had to do was just participate in discussions, quizzes, and take exams. She responds as quickly as she can and won't hesitate to help you, but the grading criteria is clear. Just spare some time to read and that's all you need. Thank you for recommending her!

I definitely suggest students take any class with Professor Powell. She is so good at creating a positive environment and even better at teaching. She treats her students as if they are her friends and isn't robot-ish. I appreciate how she cares for our well-being. Such an amazing and admirable professor. If I could write more I would!

Professor Powell is an amazing professor, she keeps lectures, relevant to the topic but interesting. She makes sure to keep the student's well-being in mind and always encourages students to speak with her about any matter, such as advice, volunteering opportunities, etc. Her class is fairly easy if you stay on top of the work, and study.

Literally by far my favorite professor at mt sac. She is so sweet and understanding. As long as you do your work and ask for help, you'll be good! There is some homework, a few quizzes (look up answers), 3 exams including final exam, and a research paper. Which is fairly easy since its in groups. Don't let that scary you, this class is super fun!

Throughout my college years, I would say Chara is one of the best professors I have ever met. Not only is she an excellent lecturer (makes the information very assimilable), she is such a genuine and wise person. The class is easy but this is because she teaches the information very well. She gives great advice and has much life experience.

Professor Powell was one of the best teachers I've had at Mt.Sac. I would 1000% recommend her for any subject. I took her for research methods and received a B, but only because I missed a few of the inquisitives. It is mandatory to purchase that online program that comes with the needed textbook. Read the textbook for the inquizitives!

The best professor I have EVER had! Chara is hilarious and will go above and beyond for you to succeed(: for this class, you do have to do a group research project, she gives you lots of time to work on it in class. This class was hard, but so worth it! If you do the work then you'll succeed.

honestly, I don't like school very much. but if I skipped, I felt like I was missing out. she is incredibly funny, i'm not even trying to glaze i was always laughing in her class. she's also so understanding🥲 will definitely miss this class and am taking another one of her courses just for fun! homework was straightforward and tests were fair! :)

Easy going professor! You do have to purchase a program for the textbook but it actually makes the course way easier. If you need easy GE take her! Awesome!
