real easy

I hate public speaking so I waited til my junior year to take it. I regularly attend UNLV but she had a 6 week class at CSN (my first class there). Probably one of the best professors I ever had. She is so clear with what she expects and ALWAYS willing to help. As for the public speaking part, I can now say that I don't mind it as much. TAKE HER!

Ms. Gibson is awesome. I'm not a fan of public speaking, but Ms. Gibson will walk you through every step of preparing for speeches, because she doesn't want to see you fail in front of the whole class. I got an "A" overall, and even though I worked really hard for it, I wasn't alone! Ms. Gibson was VERY helpful!

Professor Gibson is very helpful. She makes herself available to any questions. I would reccomend taking her class. She recongnizes effort and is there to assist in any way she can

Great teacher. She promises you that you will walk away from the class a better speaker and you do. Loved the class and felt like I improved at the end of it. The class is usually mandatory for most coursework, TAKE HER CLASS!!

This Class does require effort but she explains things very clearly and is always happy and willing to help you in what ever ways you need. I would definately take her class again. Even though ended with C, very possible to get A if do all of your assignments. She is very helpful and available to all her students equally! I definitely recommend taking her for COM 101! The book comes with an online tutorial. Use it! I waited to the end which was a mistake, because it covers everything you need to know and gives you tests!

She is extremely helpful and professional. She explains everything so clearly and is ALWAYS there to help guide you through your speeches. You will get what you earn in her class. 100% fair. If you do the speech outlines and read the chapters no one should have a problem passing this class. I wish I had her as a professor for all of my subjects!

She is one of those professor's that thinks that since she has a college degree it means that she knows everything. She can be very rude if your views do don't fit what she believes. She sounds like your typical Fox news viewer and is always talking about Texas, the military, and Jesus. What do you expect from someone that went to Baylor Univ.

Charlene Gibson is by the best professor I've had. She is passionate, helpful and really cool. She is very clear on what she expects. Giving a good speech is work, but her class isn't too tought. Fantastic overall. I would take her for all of my classes if I could. Strongly recommend.

very passionate teacher! She LOVES what she does. Class is not easy. Lots of speeches you need to do. She's really critique, and grades harshly. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND CLASS EVERYDAY.and MAKE SURE YOU DO EVERY SPEECH. Have all papers necessary, do all discussions. If you're that person who doesn't like to do much, this class isn't for you.

Hands down. Love her. It's a challenging class in some ways, but she encourages everyone to step it up. She has such a great sense of humor. You will enjoy this class! You will not only have just a teacher, you will have someone that pushes you to strive on doing better for your future. I recommend EVERYONE taking her class. You won't regret it.

Very helpful, knowledgeable, & funny. She keeps class interesting & helps you with whatever you need. There were 4 speeches and 2 exams. She's clear with expectations & if you do the work (it's not hard) and try your best, you'll do fine. The book can only be bought unused & with card for online quizzes. Great class for first-time speakers.

She is great! She comes off as intimidating at first, but she's hilarious and will do whatever it takes to help her students!

Awesome teacher ! She reminds me of the teacher from freedom writers. Don't be late when your doing speeches.. She really clear of how she wants things and cracks jokes. Really easy grader and offers extra credit opportunity. You will need your textbook and you can't rent one you have to buy it because of the rubrics you'll need.

Make sure you attend EVERY class and EVERY SINGLE SPEECH. You HAVE to buy a textbook. You have to do speeches the entire semester. She makes you WORK for your grade. So it's not an easy A, trust me. Make sure you do an amazing job in your speeches. Also do ALL CLASS DISCUSSIONS!

Professor Gibson will make you work for your grade. However I had so much fun in this class! She is funny and informative. There are only 4 speeches to give and she helps you each step of the way. AMAZING teacher! Never a boring class.

Going in to this class you think it's going to be tough and scary because she clearly tells you that she has very high expectations and you do HAVE to do all 4 speeches to even pass the class, but she is there every step of the way to help you. Gives amazing feedback, and has a very clear grading criteria.

Professor Gibson is head of the communications department so she expects a lot of work from her students. she is a very fun person to be around I would recommend her if you want a professor that knows what there're taking about! You MUST work hard on your speeches, she gives you the grade you deserve so you must put a lot of work into the class

A teacher that cares, very motivational, she wants her student to succeed in her class and actually take away some very important lessons in public speaking. The class is not easy you will have to work fairly hard for your grade. I defiantly recommend her if you actually want to become good at public speaking.

Professor Gibson initially came off kind of harsh, but as the course progressed she showed that she really cared about everyone of her students. I only had her for an 8 week course, so we were going twice as fast as a com class usually would, but she always made sure that everyone knew what was going on.

Professor Gibson is awesome! She was pretty scary the first day but it was because she wanted to point out how important her class is! She is always there for you when you have any concerns and she will give you COM Dollars (deserved extra credit). She is so passionate and wants you to suceed! Ms. Gibson is a great teacher. She is fair and encouraging. You will have to work to get a good grade. There are outlines and speeches due often. If you put in the effort, you will get the grade.

I can't stress enough how carrying Professor Gibson is, she WANTS you to succeed! Yes, she will make you work for you grade but THIS IS COLLEGE, she is fair when grading and she is always willing to help. For her 115 class tools will be provided for you success. This professor is wonderful, and really cares for her students. I took a 4-week online class, and yes it is allot of work! There are 3 speeches (one the first week!) If you work hard and read everything you can pass and be done with this in 4 weeks.

Listen here, if you aren't taking Professor Gibson, you're doing something wrong. She is always there for you, speech days are super fun, the activities we did were super fun and she completely changed my mindset on public speaking. She is always there for you no matter what! As long as you try just a little, she will meet you halfway!

My most favorite professor EVER. I loved taking her class so much I took another just for fun. She really changes your perspective on public speaking. Grading is very clear - pay attention to your time limits and be ready for your speech. Shes a very fair grader and makes class fun. Would take her over & over again.

I love Professor Gibson. She's strict, but with reason and I've never loved structure more in my life. Everything she teaches you, it's for a purpose. Not only does she want you to receive a good grade in this class, but to also be a well-rounded person. If I could take her class again, I would.

Professor Gibson requires your 100%- she means no games! You will not pass this class if you slack off. She is quick and to the point BUT she is extremely helpful. She is a caring professor and respects all of her students. She does four speeches- the shortest 3 minutes and the longest 8 minutes. Attendance is graded. Highly recommend this class!

Great Professor. I took her my first year of college and she was such a great person. Speeches about every other week and outlines must be done in time. She gives great feedback and is there in case you need help. She is so funny and a very caring person. Do the work and be prepared. Great class!

Charlene is a great professor. Dont like PS but she makes classes incredibly friendly. 4 speeches, all easy topics. Tests are open book. Follow the rubric and you're good, seriously. It's not as bad as people make her seem. She is funny and genuinely cares about her students *PRACTICE YOUR SPEECH, TAKES POINTS OFF FOR GOING OVER TIME

I have never been a good public speaker, but I think it has become easier after taking Professor Gibson's class. Be prepared to become a part of #TeamGibson while entering this class, finding some good inside jokes, and presenting your speech with a live audience of your fellow classmates. If you pace your work and really practice it'll be easy.

If you're looking for an amazing COM 101 teacher, here she is! Charlene Gibson is so loving and she genuinely cares for her students success. She is super interactive towards everyone and she always answers your questions usually the same day. Her class requires textbook readings and a few live presentations, but put the work in and you'll pass !!!

Amazing class! This class is completely structured around the growth of students. The speeches progressively weigh more points (3 total), and In between those speeches, there are A LOT of small assignments, but if you have good time management, you can pass. Professor Gibson is really engaging and passionate. Take this class!

Professor Gibson is an amazing professor. I had her Spring semester of 2020. She made the transition to online smooth and was there to support us every step. She does not hand out A's like candy, you will need to work hard and put in your best effort but she gives you every resource possible to succeed. She's kind, funny, and cares for her students

I think Ms. Gibson has gotten a bad rap recently. From my experience, yes her class is difficult, but I've never had a more caring or harder worker professor in college. She gives you everything you need to be successful. Follow the modules, outlines, and deadlines and you will pass. It takes hard work, but its worth it. One of my favorite teachers

This class was the one I was least looking forward to because I hate presenting and was worried I would do bad. I still wouldn't take COM 101 willingly ever again, but she was a great professor. She always gave me great feedback along with encouragement. It was stressful and she is strict, so I'd recommend it if you want to improve your presenting.

Professor Gibson is awesome and she genuinely wants you to succeed in her class. This was one of the classes I was least looking forward to taking, but it was worth it in the end. Grades are made up of 4 speeches, a midterm, final, and chapter quizzes. If you put in the time to write good outlines and practice your speeches, you'll do well.

You can tell that she cares about her students, and if you reach out she's always willing to help. I struggled a bit on some of my speech outlines, but she was always there to help! But beware, there are 4 speeches total, and you will have to present each one to the whole class. I ended up dropping the class bc of stress, but she's a good teacher.

Professor Gibson is a great teacher! She is very thorough with her teaching and communicates with her students often. It is a bit of a workload but manageable as long as you don't wait until the last minute. She makes sure that every student walks away from her class better at public speaking.

I had personal things going on through the semester that would sometimes keep me out of class or showing up late& Although she was displeased, Prof. Gibson still allowed me in class. I was pretty communicative from the start, and that's probably why she tolerated me. Homework wasn't too challenging; class time felt like I got value from it.

I took professor Gibson for COM101 and she was great. She does a really good job at reassuring you about your grade and your performance, also does a great job at preparing you for public speaking, and overall just being a great professor. She is also very funny and helpful.

Be ready for a demanding workload if you take this 4-week summer class with tight deadlines in the first two weeks. The next two weeks get way easier. Professor Gibson is friendly and helpful. The course includes giving three speeches in front of the class, but it's an excellent way to fulfill the communication requirement quickly.

The 4 week class posed a few problems such as a rigorous workload and barebones learning. She gives timely and in depth feedback. Don't read the whole chapters in her text book, just read the summary. Just pay attention and listen and you will be fairly successful. Class doesn't require lots of mental intelligence just very time consuming.

Prepare to work if you take Professor Gibson's class, but the reward and the take away from the class is worth it. She's tough and expects a lot from you, but she knows what she is talking about! This was a class that actually prepares you for real life and getting your dream job. Do the work and show up and its an easy A.

This professor genuinely cares about her students inside and outside the class. She can be tough and straightforward but it isn't with ill intentions. She pushed us to be our best and to handle hard better. If you're looking for an easy A this isn't the class for you, but you'll definitely learn the meaning of hard work.

Prof. Gibson is the best at CSN. You will learn so much more than just speech skills but also life skills. This by no means is an easy a but I was pushed in ways that I never thought I would and felt so accomplished after finishing. Awesome professor! I enjoyed taking her COM 101; she was so caring and funny. Her class is easy if you study and work on your speeches to earn a lot of points. She is fantastic in her class; her speech can be heavy, but if you ask her a question or email her on Canvas, she can help you ace your speech and earn a good grade!
