Learned a lot of helpful material that has made me feel very well prepared for my upper division psych courses. Provided a strong foundation, was very organized, and truly cared for students.

She is a very motivating and committed to her students and her discipline. She loves what she does and it reflects in her teaching. She is incredibly smart and is very helpful to students that seek her out.

You would have to be an idiot to not get an A in this class. She's a little out there, bit if you take notes and study the study giude its easy

Professor melrose really cares about her students. She loves her job, and you can really tell during lectures. I found her class to be difficult, but she is always willing to help. If you make the effort, you will do fine in this class...she wants her students to succeed!

Whoever thinks she is hard is nuts...She does have high expectations, but if you just do the work and ask her for help you'll do fine. She's quirky and obviously loves her job and wants to make sure her students succeed.

Great teacher, willing to help. She is a bit on the nutty side but she makes up for it in her want to help students succeed. Not necessarily the most exciting class, but it's definitely easy if you try. I got an A and think you're pretty pathetic if you can't pass this class with at least a C.

She is pretty spastic, but her class was so much fun because everyone has to get involved in the lab, and it's a very social environment. She's easy to talk to and not strict, though her notes are hard to follow. She teaches straight from the book, and it's relatively easy to get a good grade.

Melrose is an excellent teacher. She is highly educated in her field and does an awesome job lecturing. I love that she laughs at herself and does silly things, it keeps alot of students awake even if they're just rolling their eyes. I would recommend her highly!!!!!

Daily Lectures are exactly what is on the tests. She gives you reviews for every single test including the final and you get to drop your lowest test grade. If you don't pass this class your retarded. The only negative aspect is she is over the top and "out there" and constantly laughs at random things, its sorta scary

I liked the powerpoints w/ key ideas & photos, some were very rad. With the class interactions I met new people. we formed a study group. The reveiw sheets help. Kool videos! This teacher knows her subject, but she communicates it so you can understand. When people ask questions she makes sure people get it.

shes is kinda crazy, but its not hard at all. the tests are straight from the review and they are really easy. its all good--just go to class.

She has a strong background and great interest in her field! It helps to keep you with the lecture and the awesome power point. Take notes and get an A.

She is a little giggly but seems very enthusiastic about teaching and makes it much easier to pay attention. fun interesting class. uses power point for the lectures, and pretty much every thing is straight off thte poower point or is on the review sheet she gives you for every tetst... drops the lowest score as well so that helps

she def tries to keep the class awake. she has loud powerpoints and talks with a pre-school teacher-like tone of voice, which I personally find rather annoying. She gives out study sheets for every test, if you pay attention in class, or read your book, it's pretty easy. If you are into psych, u might get annoyed with how much she dumbs it down.

I got an A by writing down what she said along with what the powerpoints said and going through the book and reading/writing about what she had on the study guide. she takes test questions off what she SAYS in her lectures(she repetes). because i got all a's on the tests, i didnt have to study for the last one, it made my finals a lot easier.

do not take her. super passionate about what she does....but her non stop giggle will kill you. shes to optimistic about everything. i wanted to take this but im switching teachers next week.

I'm taking the summer school session and she makes it fun and easy. I took Maher last year and it didn't turn out too well. She's a lot more interesting and makes lectures interactive and a true learning experience. Mm Hm.

i took the 4week summer class. it was really fast paced and informative and really easy. she gives review sheets for all the exams and drops the lowest test score. the class is pretty interesting....could be worse. it was an easy A.

The study guide she provides is given a good amount of time before the exams. If you know the "textbook" answers for the study guide you will get an A. She also offers a study group a day or two before exams. She is very clear in her lectures. I got A's on her exams from just the lectures and the study guide paired with skimming the text book.

i hated her but it was a super easy class. lectures were boring. she tries too hard. disorganized. control freak. roll twice a class :(. study guides with whats exactly on test. find the answers to those in book and you will pass easily. dumb discussion times that she put in lectures and tried to make people talk. she sucks, class is easy

Class is easy in lectures, but you have to read the textbook. Out of the 4 tests we've taken, I studied for the last three (just using the study guide) and got a worse grade than just reading notes and the text. She's a lil boring at times but very nice and enthusiastic. Take good notes, pay attention to her lectures, work hard, then you'll be fine. Tests are mainly based on the study guides. The textbook is also a very good source. No extra credit though. But she drops the lowest test score out of the 5. I got an A in the class.

She's seriously psychotic, she goes off on a tangent all the time and kept us five minutes after class because "her clocks were the right time." I hated her, the class was boring, but if you were there and took the notes you wouldn't really have to use your textbook much and it was an easy class.

If you like easy As take the class. Do the study guide using the examples in her lecture to help you memorize and you'll get an A. FOR SUMMER CLASS STUDENTS ONLY!!! I took this class in the summer and it is a fast paced class. You have to read the whole textbook in a month. This class is a month. The teacher is a cool. She is always smiling. She explains things well. Her test are not hard. Just study. It is basically a vocabulary test.

Mrs. Melrose is a great teacher. Her 280 class was alot of work but I learned some valuble things. She smiles all the time because she loves what she does..nothing wrong with that. Very helpful if you go to her office hours and just a really nice person. She wants everyone to pass the class. Take her class!!

She is very upbeat and full of energy. She keeps the class engaged and interested. She makes it very clear what is expected and what is needed to pass with a good grade.

A pretty structured and organized class. She seemed very willing to help during breaks and after class. After taking the class, I was much more interested in psychology than before; some video clips she showed were fascinating/funny. A few times each class, she made us talk to each other about a given topic, which could be annoying to some people.

I haven't opened the book or studied at all and I've gotten A minuses on all of my tests so far...... Pretty much if you show up most of the time you should be good. She's kinda way crazy but whatevs.. the class is way easy.

Wow. She is really irritating. Perhaps it was me, but this woman is neurotic and insane. She commands the classroom, which is something you have to do in a large lecture, but she thinks she's funny, which wouldn't be so bad if she actually was funny. Paper was an Easy A. Tests are difficult. I would not recommend this teacher.

While attending Orange Coast College, I had the priviledge of taking several courses with Charlene Melrose. I can't say I've ever had a better Professor. Her use of modern examples and enthusiastic lectures made attending class an interesting experience that I would look forward to during that time. I highly recommend this professor.

She drove me completely up the wall. I am a psych major, and I think she probably knows what she's talking about, but it was so hard to listen to. I couldn't help but roll my eyes constantly. I felt bad for her sometimes, but I really just absolutely hated her class. It's just the way she talks to you. DON'T TAKE IT.

Mrs. Melrose is a well-informed and enthusiastic teacher. She tells you exactly what is expected of you and will help you get there. Be motivated and follow her directions and it's an easy A.

EASY A!!! Teacher is always smiling, has wacky stories to help you remember material. I took notes and read the chapters THE NIGHT BEFORE, and sometimes the hour before each test. I didn't use her study guides. She lets you drop one of your worst tests and has your write a 1 page paper on what topic you liked most. She gives lectures and examples straight out of the book.

The teacher, her stories and examples of what she talked about and the short movie segments really made this class work for me. This is one of the best classes, interesting class, and actually caring teachers at OCC.

It's the 3rd time I took Psyc 100. This is the only teacher that kept me awake and tells you how to pass the course. Can't believe it. I like psycology now.

she is a great teacher, her whole lecture is on power point and she gives you time to copy it, she also has her lectures on podcasts. if you need help u can ask her after class or at study sessions she holds before tests. tests are easy if you know most of the study guide. drops lowest test score if you are absent less then 4 times

Prof. Melrose honestly wants her students to do well. She wants her material to resonate meaning within her students, and although she is a bit odd (and sometimes a bit too literal) she does well teaching it. It is a very manageable class that in the end.. i enjoyed

Wow, I seriously don't know what everyone on here is talking about. This is an EASY class. I passed easily with an A and didn't even have to take the final. Grade is based on 5 tests and 1 ONE PAGE, double spaced paper. Just show up to class, TAKE NOTES, and I promise you'll be fine. Recommended =)

What you need to know...1) No real Homework, it's reading the book. 2) I passed the class with a high B and never opened the book. 3) Her lectures are all over the place/just stick to the power point info. 4) if you are so miserable that it annoys you that a person is upbeat and positive, pay attention to the section on suicide. Learn from it. : )

This class is easy as cake. Melrose is very peppy and likes to jump around a lot on different topics. Take notes on the powerpoint and you can pass without opening the book, although it is a very interesting book. I liked her class, if you don't mind a peppy teacher I would definitely recommend her. :)

You have to register fast to get into her class. I can understand everything she teaches. Like her examples. They can be funny. The altoid movie from youtube was really good and fit what we were studyin Like the class. Like the teacher.

If you want an easy A, take this class. I never touched the book once and still got high A's on all my tests. She gives five tests and lets you drop one of the first four. Take notes on everything, especially her wacky examples and you'll do amazing.

Psyc 100 is my favorite class. I like the different things we study and talk about & I'm not even a psyc major. The teacher is organized and I like the examples which help me understand things. She's always in an upbeat mood. I do have to study to get my B, but I do know what to study. Good class. Good teacher.

I was not a huge fan- easy class no doubt but I found the class to be very tedious to attend. I looked forward to signing up for the class but found myself counting down the clock upon arriving the first day. I believe she could have made the class much more interesting and at times I doubted her experience in the more current fields

Melrose is a good teacher, but is a somewhat strange person. She is very repetitive during class lectures and really pounds the knowledge into her students' brains. I liked the way that she sets up her tests because she uses real world examples.

For me, this class was easy. I did read the textbook and came to almost all lectures though. She is something else: I guess she really likes what she does, but I've never seen anyone being so damn happy every single time! After all these years of teaching, she must've really nailed coping with stress (big chapter in the textbook)!

If you're a Psych major then you need this class and she's the perfect teacher to take it with. This class is much more demanding than her Psych 100 class... so just show up and do your work...

She is a very nice, animated teacher who does actually seem to care for her students; but her classes are very boring and you have to memorize a lot of definitions and concepts, that she later puts into test questions that aren't very specific.

Great class. This is the second time I tried to get in and I did. This teacher really likes her field and knows her stuff. In my class people are asking interesting questions and I like the answers. The small films and power point are good. I feel like I can do good in this class.

Definitely an easy A, but she is honestly one of the most obnoxious professors I have ever taken. Her jokes are funny for about the first 2 classes and then when she tries to be funny it made pretty much everyone cringe. Easy class but I rather have a better professor. Take this if you are only taking it for a GE.

A really awesome teacher! She gives you all the information that will be on the exam in a study guide. All you have to do is put in the effort to read the textbook and go over your notes. I love Melrose! She keeps the lectures interesting and explains all of the information clearly. The only assignment in the class is a one page paper, and only five tests are given out in the semester. But make sure you go to the lectures and study for the tests, otherwise you can fall behind! Otherwise, I would defiantly recommend Melrose. :]

My favorate class this semester. I like what we are studying. This teacher makes it interesting and fun. Pay attention in class and you'll get it.

I had to waitlist but I did get into this class and teacher. Try to get her. The class goes fast cuz of topics, film clips, and discussions where we have to think about something and talk with others. Good class.

Melrose was my fav professor. She was always trying to make jokes in class to keep us entertained too. Must attend class daily & take good notes. Has study guides & weekly labs. I took her last semester before I transferred to CSULB & she made me understand all the concepts thoroughly. GREAT PROF!

Excellent TEACHER, makes all subjects very clear. The tests are in direct correlation to the lecture, notes, book, and most importantly the study guide. Highly recommend.

All the test questions are from the studyguide. 2 out of the 60 questions are straight from the book so reading or buying the book is not necessary. Drops the lowest of the first 4 tests. Lectures all class and sometimes over the class time limit which can get aggravating. No homework, recommend her.

Easy! Take her

I found the class to be pretty easy, did the reading, completed the written portion, did the study guides, studied a little, earned a very solid A. She is passionate about what she is teaching, and wants her students to find joy in it too. She is a fun and animated person, and does her best to make a long lecture interesting.

Professor Melrose was fantastic. Class was interesting and fun. So animated and told you exactly what she was testing on, always had time to talk to you and answered all emails promptly. Would love to take her again for another class, really a pleasure!

She is a wonderful teacher. She makes long lectures in class interesting and fun. You can drop the lowest test score out of the first 4. Easy A! She tells you what is going to be on the test. I highly recommend her!

Her tests are mad easy, as long as you follow her study guide. show up, take notes, and read the text, and you'll get easy A. 1 paper: 1 page double space.

She smiles way too much which is kind of creepy, but she is very nice and sweet. She is a chill and laid back teacher. The tests are from the study guide. There are only 5 tests and she will drop one test that is the lowest score of all 5. Also there is only one page paper assignment and it is super easy. Yeah I recommend taking her class.

Melrose loves to talk! She keeps you in until the very last minute of class. She also seems to be the most happiest person ever, she's always laughing and smiling. She tries to help you pass her class with the study guide, the pass groups, and her lectures. You just have to read & know her study guide & you will definitely pass the class.

THIS CLASS IS SO EASY, and Melrose is so helpful. She really wants her students to pass - AND PASS YOU WILL (if you read the books, and look over the study guide and the notes). One thing I hate is that she talks a lot... She also keeps you in class even after it's over - WHICH IS REALLY IRRITATING. &you don't want to leave early b/c she's too nice

this class was an easy A. you need the textbook because she doesnt go over everything that is on the test. just study all the terms off the term list she gives you and you will get a good grade.

easy class. easy A. she's very enthusiastic and informative. gives a lot of examples during lecture, which is helpful. tests are really straight forward. 5 exams. can drop the lowest grade for exams 1-4. can't drop exam 5. one super easy paper. take the class!

she's fine if you want an easy class. i found that some of her information was inconsistent with another textbook i have read. she's not very nice in person, but is rather enthusiastic in class, however; its really boring. i didnt really like her. but her class was easy.

She's sooo easy. However she gives out a lot of information if you want to boost your grade up. Easy paper, took me like less than 5 mins to write in my own word. 88% and above is an A so it's easy to get it. Drop lowest test score IF you missed less than 4 classes. Take her class!!!

Prof Melrose is the best. She's kind of dorky but in a good way. She's super passionate about Psychology and she's very good at teaching it. And there are 5 tests but there's a study guide to everything and her tests are extremely clear and easy(:

This class is super easy. The information is good, tests are easy to complete, etc. but in all honesty I felt her teaching was kind of all over the place.I felt she wasn't prepared for her lectures, she made jokes that weren't funny, and she loves to baby talk her students. The lecture and info are good, the professor.. not so much.

Awesome class. Exams are easy, all you have to know are the terms and how to recognize them in a written scenario. Passionate about her field. Textbook is recommended, unless you plan to write all of the lecture notes including everything she says. Highly recommended, you will learn a lot.

Easiest class I've had. She provides outlines that tell you exactly what is on test. No homework. The level she teaches class at is almost insulting, she holds the class' hand throughout and the boring lectures drag on. But she is trying her best and is very nice. Definitely recommend for anyone who just needs to cross Psych 100 off the list.

It was a cool lecture class. I enjoyed her powerpoints and attempts at jokes. She was a very nice lady, and her tests weren't too bad. Read the text and take notes from the powerpoint.

This is the most adorable lady. Its refreshing to have a prof like this since she always has the biggest smile. Really nice and accepting of every contribution to class participation (even if she shouldnt be) She legitimately wants everyone to understand and pass. She drops the lowest test score and she even gives a study guide!

Awesome professor she is pretty hilarous and her exams are very easy if you really grasp the concepts in class. I genuinely enjoyed this class and this professor made my semester a little better because of her jokes and the grading curve is a HUGE blessing.

She is very energetic and spunky. A bit too much at times.. Easy to talk to. Powerpoints are easy to follow but you will also need the book. Tests are not that difficult if you actually read the material and study. Overall, fun class.

Very energetic and loves what she does. Her powerpoints may seem like a lot but they're REALLY easy concepts. **You don't even have to read the book like she says** Just wait till the end, study all your notes and look over the study guide (very organized) and study the rest of the terms you don't know in the book. EASY A+ all the time.

Lectures can get tiresome but overall very manage able class

Isn't boring at all! One of my first lecture classes and I didn't feel like falling asleep. Shes super enthusiastic and the material is pretty easy to learn. The book is also super understandable and easy to read. Totally recommend this class.

I'm not interested in psychology at all so this class is boring to me. Overall, Prof. Melrose is a nice professor, and I like her.

Charlene is a really nice teacher . She lets you drop your lowest score and she puts her study guides on blackboard , know the study guide and you'll get an A on the tests

Very sweet, funny, and easy-going. Never EVER expect to be out of class 30 seconds earlier! Overall, the class is easy, just study her review sheets. She drops the lowest score of the first 4 exams for those who have good attendance. 1 web-search assignment. Cons: the class gets boring sometimes, and she keeps repeating the same sentence 100 times!

The most boring, annoying, irritating class. Rachel Ridnor for Research Methods was annoying, but I actually learned a few things. This class is painful. Easy work, but presented in such a boring manner that makes it insanely difficult to get through. A ton of info is needed to be retained from this class, take anyone but her!!!

She's so adorable and bubbly! You don't really need the book UNLESS you can take decent notes. Take her advice and review the study guide before the test. If you can remember the definitions, you'll be fine (not that difficult either). She really takes the time to make sure everyone understands the concept too. Highly recommend

One of my all time favorite teachers. Although she is very corky & energetic, her class was very easy to stay on top of. Do the study guides she provides for the tests & you'll get a A or B easily. I recommend her & would definitely take her again for another course.

Melrose is a rather energetic and corky person! This class will be easy if you study all of the materials and study guides, but if you just study off the notes only you won't get the highest score on your tests because some questions are based on the book.

Oh my God, I want to rate her lower but I can't. Her excitement is contagious and utterly annoying, but she's a great teacher and her class is ridiculously easy. She puts tons of extra materials on blackboard, hosts study sessions, has study guides, and her tests are completely based off her notes. You don't need to read at all.

She is an EASY class - enough said. You'll pass if you read the notes AND read the book because her review sheet contains both. As long as you study, you'll pass. She is boring during her lecture, although I do admire her for her enthusiasm because I feel that she does try to make sure everyone gets the topic. I highly recommend taking it.

She is totally weird - but in the best way possible! It was an early morning class (NOT a morning person) and she always kept me alert and entertained. She gives a study guide for each test with every question that the test has. and With good attendance, you can even drop lowest test score. Great teacher, very recommended.

This teacher is so cheerily annoying I used to dread this class in the morning. Also, she has completely incorrect assumptions about abortions, drug addicts, and methadone use in recovery which are merely her own opinions. The class isn't very hard especially if you do the review sheets and use common sense.

Loved her, although the class was long she did her best to keep things interesting. The class itself is difficult because it a Psych, Math and an English class all in one but she talks you through every step and goes out of her way to assist you along they way. There are 4 tests 2 papers a stats unit and a final project but all is very manageable.

This professor makes this class very fun and understandable. As long as you focus, take notes, and make time to study it is very easy to pass. She offers study guides for each test and gives the option to attend study sessions outside of class. She's super sweet and it is obvious that she genuinely cares and wants to see her students do well.

Melrose was great - loved her. She is bubbly and a bit strange at times, but I loved it! I learned much from her class, it wasn't the easiest class in the world, wish I tried harder. She uses powerpoints and gives out study guides before exams - DO THEM, they make all the difference. Overall, great psych professor. Highly recommend.

Even though I had a B in the class, I dropped it because I didn't have time for the class, otherwise I would have completed it. Still, the class was boring for me, I played online poker on my phone every time. Just read the textbook, which can be found online *wink* and you'll do fine. She is funny at times but really nice and easy going.

Took her my first year at occ. Very boring professor and will NEVER let you out early so don't expect it. Her tests are kind of hard because she words them in a weird way. She does let you drop lowest test score if you have good attendance. She is not that bad just extremely boring.

Very little of the exams come from the text book. Show up to class, take notes, and review, you'll be fine on the exam. No studying, I avg an 88% on the exams. With studying, a 96%.

I loved this teacher! Wish she taught more classes. She gives you a review guide for each exam, study each term and you will ace the class! Not sure if the teacher was really interesting or the class content itself was interesting but I had a good time.

She's quirky and always smiling-super approachable. However, this goes without saying that class tends to go on and on even though the lecture is about an hour and a half long. No HW, 5 pretty challenging tests- 60 ?'s each. 1 one page "essay". Takes attendance twice every day. Usually makes you talk to the people next to you to exchange opinions

Professor Melrose was truly phenomenal. Beyond helpful, clear, print out review sheets and bring them to class to make sure to take better notes on certain topics and you will easily do well. Do connect plus learn smart and you'll do well.

Melrose is gives great examples throughout her lectures. I find the same examples on her exams. My test score only dipped below an A once, when I missed two classes. If you actually attend & take good notes, you should pass. Study those notes and flip through the book occasionally for an "easy" A. She even has optional review sessions before tests.

Easy A. Show up so that you can drop one of the 5 tests. Study guides have the whole test so just fill them out and go over them and you will get an A.

Lectures are long but very helpful if you take notes. Her Study Guide is a long list of terms but if you study them (I recommend with note cards) you should be golden. There is a paper you have to type at the end of the semester but it's only 1 page long. Major grade curve (76.6% is a B). Drops your lowest test score if absent no more than 2 times.

If you don't like perky people then do not take this class! Personally I thought she was great. She is very energetic. The class is a lot of memorizing but pretty easy. She's a good teacher! Her study guides are the test so it's easy to ace.

Values punctuality and attendance. Drops lowest grade. Really good about highlighting the key points which are going to be on the test. Tests are multiple choice, mostly based on the lectures with 10-15% questions based on the book. Attend lectures, go over the review sheet, use connect before the test and you will get an A.

Good lectures, clear and a very nice lady. You must have the book and it make sure to pay attention to all classes, so you can be ready for her tests, as long as you memorise everything she says you will get an easy A

Very nice and caring teacher who cares to help her students by letting them know what they need to do in order to pass the class. She gives out study guides that are equivalent to her exams and she curves her grading system. So glad to have taken her since this was her last class before retiring

She says to buy the book but i never bought it and i did fine. She talks a lot but only because she wants to elaborate more on what she said in her powerpoints. She is very clear on what is on the test. However, shes puts questions on the test that are from the book.

Her lectures/powerpoints will get you the A. everything that'll be on the test is highlighted. She's very peppy, better this than grumpy. She loves teaching, and she's good at it. Never used the text book. To pass, show up, take notes on power points, do extra credit(macmillian quizzes), do her one homework assignment, and take the tests.

If you landed Melrose for one of your Psych classes, you're in luck. She gives very structured and conclusive lectures. If you pay attention, take lots of notes, and study, you will pass. She won't give you a free pass, but she'll give you all the tools and info you need to succeed if you apply yourself.
