The worst teacher I've ever had - probably because he's never taught before. Broken english (I'm not against foreign teachers at all but he consistantly halts his sentences to think of the word he wants to say which makes it hard to follow), very poor at explaining concepts, shows up late to class and exams and teaches directly out of the textbook.

this guy is completely incompetent. he is not interested in helping you whatsoever. the classes are useless to bad he takes attendance. i did good in the class, thanks to the book. charles should never teach again.

the priority of his students is very low in his world.. his care for teaching everyone what he knows is not that great.

I had the unfortunate experience of having 190 with Charles as well. He's a nice man and means well but just isn't suited for teaching. He relies to much on the text to do the teaching, his notes are hard to follow, and as I found this year, he can be bull-headed when critiqued.

Useless. Asked if you have questions but doesn't respond when you do. Makes you feel stupid if you don't understand anything. Need help? Forget it..my advice is look for another economics teacher

By far the worst prof I have ever had! He makes mistakes in class all the time and just argues with the class about it instead of accepting that he, like the rest of the world, is capable of mistakes. Plus he avoids office hours when you ask to go over your tests. I would definitely not recommend him, AT ALL.

Absolutely worst prof i have ever had. I stopped going to class because i couldnt stand him. Hes got a hardcore accent with a lisp, and pronounces words wrong constantly. about 15 of 65 kids in my class are passing right now. DONT get him as a prof. Hes horrendous.

Charles is very unclear in his lectures. He is also unable to answer student questions during class, and talks down to students. As long as you are prepared to learn the entire course from the text book, you will do okay. Would never recommend him. Ever.

Absolutely brutal. He is irrationally defensive and attacks students if they disagree or require further explanation. Within 20 minutes of each class he was stumbling over his own diagrams, leaving the class in a state of confusion. Be prepared to teach yourself if you suffer the misfortune of landing a spot in his lecture. Study the text!

Just terrible he doesnt care at all about his students and will straight out not answer a question if a student asks in class. My kindergarten teacher could teach this class better than he can. Bottom line the worst teacher i have ever had. The class is hard enough as is but you cant even understand what he is saying.

I totally lost interest in economics after one semester with this fellow. Quite possibly the worst prof at TRU. His lectures are boring and attendance is mandatory. Also, he doesn't really test on what he teaches, his questions largely come from the test bank. Will not help you if you speak to him, and often repeats questions on tests. AVOID.

Seems friendly, but not very helpful, would not take a class with him again. Unfair marker, be careful with your long answer questions, takes away marks for everything.

No. No. if you are taking him, No. change NOW! and if (what a pity) you ended up in class, listen to him saying the word "equilibrium". he's very knowledgable but hell not a good lecturer. never give answers to sample tests, never return the mid term papers in class had to make appointments, and hard to listen. drop. Do not take his class - if you can help it. I heard he was hard to understand, unclear and not willing to help but thought, "how could a prof be like this?" TOTALLY destroyed my GPA and was never willing to put in extra time to help his students. GET OUT NOW - before it's too late.

totally wrecked my gpa. cant understand a word he says and does little to no instructing in his classes. stands at the front of the class reads off the computer and skips every example he has. tests would be easy but he makes his tests way to long for the time you have and no one ever finishes also no part marks on written questions.AVOIDATALLCOSTS

Absolute worst professor at TRU and that i've had. Spends so much time on simple concepts and quickly skips over really difficult things in the course.Arrives late every day and rushes over everything because he's late. Can't understand his broken English, avoid at all costs.

To be honest, i don't know what to say about this instructor. i didn't learn a single thing about financial market. whatever i knew about financial market, i forget everything now after taking his class. he didn't solve a single problem in the board. how come a student can learn about financial market if the instructor read slides. "HORRIBLE"

For those that think there is nothing that can be done about this guy, you are wrong. Students have been complaining in droves about this guy. This is your education and your money! Speak up against this injustice! If you have never had this guy, then stay away, far far away. Not worth it in the least.

Not sure what the positive reviews are about. I guess it is because he is super easy with testsexams as he just takes them directly from the test bank. That being said, he is a horrible teacher and can not do any of the questions himself. If you have to do a group project look out! He will subjectively mark. No idea how this guy became a prof

He doesn't explain concepts clearly, bring in midterms for in-class review or let you keep them for studying purposes. If he is your instructor, drop the class immediately. He makes a class that primarily uses math not make sense to someone who understands math. I learned more from slides and reading the book than going to class.

Worst professor I ever experienced. On a personal note he's a really nice guy, however being nice isn't going to help you learn economics. STAY AWAY

If you want a pretty easy A, take Charles. If you are passionate about economics, stay away. His lectures are the WORST, it is a real struggle to stay awake. He reads from slides and doesn't go beyond book examples. So, you can do really well not going to class & memorizing the slides. On a personal level, he is the nicest professor you will meet.

I feel bad for him... but teaching is not his forte. I do not think a professor can be any worse. Terrible lectures, PP even worse... Half the class is failing. Charles is the worst. He gives terrible examples about microeconomics that are unworldly. I'm sure there are real world examples that he would be able to use but he doesn't. He seems like the type of guy who just got his PhD but didn't do anything in economics except become a prof. Would not recommend.

Charles Anaere is one of the most pathetic professor. He doesnt respond to your emails, neither does he take any effort to teach in class or answer doubts. I regret taking him.

At the beginning of the course he specifically told us NOT to buy a textbook and that his slides would be sufficient but let me tell you, they were not. We only had 2 midterms and a final for marks, no other assignments. The first midterm the majority of our class failed (30-60%) and his remarks were "I want you all to review your study habits" ...

Horrible. Only reason I passed the course was because of another professors (Dalley) workbooks and online videos. Take stats with Anaere only if theres no room in another section, then use Dalleys workbooks and videos to teach you.

Charles is so terrible. He never responded to students' emails even though we take online classes because we can not go to school and discuss face to face. There is no interaction between him and the students. He did not post the solution for midterms, he just gave grades and leave it which leads to the final exam results were so awful too.

Don't even think about take a class by this professor. It was so boring that no one show up or just mute him. Classes are occasionally cancelled (once every week) materials provided to practice full of errors. He also make communication extra difficult with his unprofessional behaviors. Thinking about register his class now ? DONT, I warned you.

He asks students to email him with any questions, then gets annoyed when people do and tells us to stop asking. Alternatively, you email him and he just never responds. When I tried asking questions in the zoom chat since he doesn't answer emails he got upset and yelled at me and another student for being "distracting". This class is a tough pass.

DO NOT take his class. Never responds to your questions/emails, reads off of the slides, so boring that you will never make through 20 mins of his lecture. Does just midterms and finals and never gives feedback. Also, he shows zero compassion even with the pandemic. I know he is not required to make exceptions but the least he can do is be humane.

The course is not an issue. It is Charles. The WORST prof I have ever had. Gives ZERO feedback/answers for midterms and practice questions. You have NO way of knowing what is right/wrong. I didn't learn a thing in this course. 100% of your grade depends on 3 tests, and the questions go against common sense. If you're a robot and simply regurgitate the notes from the slide, you'll be fine. Also, he does post practice questions and takes some questions straight from there, so if you've pre-written those, you might have time to finish.

AVOID. Maybe he is just really bad at teaching virtually, but this is the worst prof and course I have taken at TRU. He does not provide ANY feedback - to the point where I have no idea what I've even learned, he will get mad if you ask questions in class, is so hard to follow, and just boring. He reads ver batim off his notes while drawing a graph every now and then without serious explanation. Also quite defensive to any sort of questioning and often gives non-answers. If you value your education, avoid him at all costs. Decent guy, but just not a good teacher.

I have been taking a course with Charles on a subject I am quite familiar with and passionate about. His lectures are awful, unengaging and read straight off the slides. Might as well just read the textbook as he adds zero value over and above that. When I or others in the class ask questions he gives non-answers and talks around the question.

Do not take this course if you are not ready to go through it by your own. Lectures are tiring, his voice makes you feel asleep and you end up with no desire to sit 2 hours and waste your time. He often does not hear your question and if hears, does not really answers them understandably. Beware that the grade will depend on quizzes and exams only!

This prof made mistakes so often that I got used to it and usually the mistakes were easy math. Barely knows his own math and reads straight off the slides. He skips many slides and rarely understands the questions students have for him. Grades only based the exams and his lectures were not very interesting, made the subject quite boring.

It actually amazes me how awful of a teacher Charles is. He just reads the slides - as if that's how students should learn (it's a math course!). Exams are the only things that determine your grade, no weekly quizzes or anything that gives you insight on how much you're understanding. A lazy teacher who puts in minimal effort.

Be prepared to read the whole course by yourself since he can't convey the course material coherently. No assignments or quizzes so you really cant gauge whether you understand the content or not.

Prof. doesn't help at all: if you ask any questions he would ask you to speak to a Teaching Assistant. He does not take any class tests- so his exams are unpredictable. He turned a very interesting subject so boring and difficult that almost 80% of the students remain absent despite mandatory attendance.

He does not interact with the class, comes in reads the PDF, and doesn't answer any questions. Gives practice questions but no answers and he expects you to understand everything on your own. He doesn't review the exam papers nor does he distribute them, so if you make any mistakes you won't know how to correct them.

If you want to develop a dislike and fear for statistics for life, take his class. Extremely difficult papers and hard scorer. no transparency in scoring. Sets the students up for failure. Unpredictable question paper.

Difficult to understand the lectures. He makes it harder than it is. Also, No assignments!! Just midterms and final exam, what is bad because the exams are so hard. Midterms of 22 pages. No enough time to finish the exams. I am an A student. First class ever, I have a C. Don't take his class if you want to maintain your GPA.

The professor only uses PPTs with over 100 slides and explains just 1-2 problems in class, without clearing doubts. He provides ample practice materials with final answers but lacks detailed solutions. When asked, he says he doesn't have time to make solutions and doesn't have them, making exam preparation difficult.

Never an organized lecture. You'll be taking notes then he switches the slide after 2 seconds to an irrelevant topic and jumps back and forth out of order, never explaining the true meaning of concepts. He also uses different symbols or writes formulas differently which gets confusing when you're studying later on. Laughs if you have questions.

Idk how but this mf somehow manages to explain every concept in the most confusing way possible. Will cut straight to answers, rarely explaining the process to get there. Huge language barrier as well. “You can tell it's an aspen tree because of the way it is” face ahh

He seems to be very lazy. Lectures, marking, assignments and exams are all from the single resource he gives us, and he has no clear criteria or rubrics. Is not open to discussion with students, and when you can talk to him the help he gives is not usually helpful. Don't take a class with him if you care about your grades and want to do well.

He does not bother to reply to student emails , does not remember which content is on the midterm or final, is late to class, and leaves early for his other classes. Grades everyone with an average grade. I learned nothing new but to avoid him next time as he is too busy with all the other courses he teaches.

If you thought you were doing too well at university and wanted to fail stats just to switch it up a bit take this class. His lectures were so confusing and he wasn't very nice to students who asked questions in class. His class is a waste of money.
