Might as well just read the text book cause thats all he does. Oh and his TA is a little egotistic.
Best prof ever! Shows genuine concern for his students, and makes an effort to maintain a positive learning environment. He is a really funny guy and he makes early morning classes worth going to.
AMONGST THE BEST PROFS AT QUEENS!
This guy is FREAKIN AWESOME! I have nothing bad to say! He made me love a class I thought would be boring. He's just as great in person too! One of the best profs you'll have here!!!
Wow... what a prof. Really funny guy, plus he rocks at teachingm and his term tests are really fair. Nice job C-Mo!
awesome, very nice, funny guy. can be too repetative at times...slight overkill.
Chuck Molson has made a class that would otherwise be boring and useless (statistics) fun, interesting, and very useful. He's done it by being a funny, enthusiastic, and approachable prof. with nothing to lose. Down to earth and a real gentleman, too. Wish him all the best!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Chuck Molson rocks my socks.
A truly great prof; he makes statistics interesting and approachable.
great stats teacher
I think everyone deserves at least one chili pepper! You are the best prof ever!
He is awesome! So interesting to just sit and listen to - I never fall asleep in stats 263!
Chuck Molson makes this class fun and worth attending just to hear his random stories and how they apply to statistics. He is a great prof. and very helpful if you are having troubles understanding the concepts. Plus the online quizzes as gimme marks are awesome!
He's a great prof. Interesting course.
Rox your sox, I like the music in class :)
DR. MOLSON IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. HE IS A VERY NICE PERSON AND PLAYS GOOD MUSIC DURING CLASS.
Prof. Molson is a good guy, but the course is anything but. This has felt like one of those mile wide and inch deep courses, where you don't really learn anything other than which formulas to use. Could've really used more class time on the "why" instead of the "how"
I knew right from the first day when we discussed Prof. Molson's sandals and how they related to statistics that this would be a good course. I haven't been let down.
"Embarrassing father"-type sense of humour sometimes; makes stats interesting and is very good at teaching the material.
You make stats interesting (hard to believe)
GREAT guy. Has made a class that I dreaded an enjoyable experience.
He is a great stats prof.
Excellent prof...somehow managed to make stats interesting. Always in a good mood and knows his stuff. Definitely one of my favourite profs.
all i know is i couldn't be more bored by stats. i'm not a fan of his weekly webCT quizes cause (a) webCT is really screwed up this year (b) cause its purely a right/wrong marking scheme. it would be nice to know where i'm going wrong! the tutorials arn't used at all, we should do quizes then
Absolutely loved him!! Couldn't imagine a better stats prof, never missed the class.Loved his music and e-mails about randomness! Definitely very caring about the students.
Molson is teaching material none of us will use and knows it. However he manages to show us how important statistics are and create an interest. Great lecture environment; loved the background jazz. Midterm and exam were walks in a very easy park. Very good looking chap.
Amazing prof!
Great prof, great guy. Don't get me wrong, stats can be pretty boring. But Chuck Molson is a real character, and definately makes the course bearable for people majoring in other subjects. Evaluations were very fair, he genuinely cares about students, and will respond to your questions promptly.
i'm in love...
Fantastic prof! Took some rather dull and basic material and made it decently interesting. Once I left university and started doing research, I realized how important this course was and was glad he was the one who taught it to me.
if your not good at math, don't take this course! he overworks you with the weekly quizzes, which don't prepare you for the midterm or final, yet still require a sufficient amount of time. goes on and on how the class is so easy yet our class avg. was in the low 60's. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID
Professor Molson is one of the best profs at Queen's! He genuinely cares about his students and makes statistics interesting and easy to learn. his grading is fair, he is funny and always in a great mood. Everyone loves Chuck Molson!
Charles Molson is amazing. He actually makes Stats, a relatively dry course, fun to go to. He has some pretty humorous expressions, and he always is eager to help students. All in all a great prof!
Chuck Molson is my hero. That is all.
Chuck Molson is one of the best profs I've had at Queen's. He was very approachable & willing to help. The weekly quizzes are helpful & if you don't understand why you got questions wrong he's glad to help! If you actually try at the quizzes & do old exams before finals you will be golden. Molson also makes the classtime very enjoyable w/ his humor
Chuck Molson may not be the smartest guy in the world, but dang can that man teach!
Chuk Molson has to be one of the best profs at Queen's. Genuinely cares about his students and wants them to pass. And he is all kinds of funny haha
great teacher
I LOVE Chuck Molson. He did what I thought no one could do--he made stats relatively painless. Just pay attention in class, do the quizzes and non-assignments, and put some effort into the class, and you'll do well
P(best prof ever)=1.0
Great prof. Interesting especially when off topic. I would love share a few pints with this guy.
He's such a great prof, but it's statistics...tough to make it interesting enough to not fall asleep during the lecture. He's always making good jokes and telling funny stories, nice man. Study the material, stats has a clever way of being hard without seeming like it..
The best Prof ever.Do the online quizzes and go to the lectures, you will be totally fine in the exam.
He's somewhat entertaining, but I found that the material had been too "dumb-ed down" and that it was reminiscent of the way high school is taught rather than university. Do the quizzes and understand how to do the problems on you're own and the exam will go fine. Just don't expect any appearances of why the methods work, just how to do them.
Absolute legend! He loves the course and teaching it. Funny as hell. This course is really, really easy if you're good with numbers and can show up to class/read the textbook. Seriously, do these things and you can get 90's for sure.
One of the best professors at Queen's. He loves teaching and he loves stats so it makes the material a lot easier to learn. Don't miss the Halloween lecture.
Absolutely an amazing professor. Very helpful and you can tell that he really cares about his students. One of the best teachers I've ever had!
The man is a LEGEND.
When Sam Gamgee refers to the good in the world worth fighting for at the end of the second Lord of the Rings movie, he probably has Professor Molson in mind. Brilliant, genuinely hilarious teacher who stole Alan Alda's voice.
Chuck Molson is the most entertaining prof I've ever had. The exams are more than fair and there are so many practice ones on exam bank. He really keeps you entertained in class and shows random YouTube videos sometimes, so make sure you go to every lecture. Overall fabulous man.
This professor is my favorite so far. I took the course in the summer and we used his lectures. He really knows what he's talking about. Go to the lectures, read the notes, do the non-assignments and you will be good. Don't confuse yourself with the textbook though, his notes are more than enough, guaranteed :) .
Molson is my favourite prof at Queen's. His teaching methods are very effective, and he genuinely wants students to excel in the course. I wish there are more professors like him...
Very clear, and actually does his best to make the class interesting, and succeeds much better than expected. Exam is quite fair, and he provides everything needed to learn the material.
One of the only professors who wants AND actually makes it possible for students to do well. Doc cam transition music playing
I wish charles was my grandpa
Dr Molson is one of those people who you can tell is just a genuinely good human being
Teaches like a good high school teacher. Lots of examples that make you think, interactive, you can just listen and it makes sense. Makes the class very interesting. You can tell he really cares and is a very good man. Course layout is perfect as well. STAT 263 highly recommended
I'm terrible at math and was dreading this course (needed a math course) but Prof. Molson made it awesome! So funny (much needed for a dry course early in the morning)and genuinely cares. Don't miss the Halloween lecture!
Prof. Molson was an AMAZING prof and teacher. His lectures were hilarious and a highlight of my week. Too bad he had to teach a poorly designed course. Would love to take another class taught by him!
Dull course, Fair Assessments, Good teacher, Great lectures, Amazing human being. Would love to sit down and and just chat with the guy.
1010 would date
I'm not excited about stats but this man is amazing!
I would take another one of Professor Molson's classes for the sole purpose of having him as a prof again!
Professor Molson is a awesome man! He is super nice and helpful!!
Nice prof, very interesting prof.
Extremely helpful, such a wonderful man. I had some mental health issues during the semester, but did not tell him until right before the exam. He accommodated my exam and made sure I was able to perform to the best of my ability. When I got a poor mark (my fault not his) he then continued to help me appeal to change my grade to a CR
Truly an amazing professor. Really seems to care about his students. Charles is the man!!
Chuck Molson deserves an award for making Stats one of my favourite classes this semester. A true master of his craft.
The signal-to-noise ratio was too low in lectures.
It is usually difficult to feel like a prof genuinely cares about each and every student when the class sizes are as large as they are at Queen's, but after the very first lecture I felt like I belonged in Dr. Molson's class. The online quizzes were helpful, but the final was worth 60%. Do the non-assignments every week and you'll be just fine.
chucko is a pretty sick character definitely should be a talk show host 10/10 ill miss you my dear
Amazing professor. Made statistics enjoyable, something I never thought was possible. Do the non-assignments he posts and you'll do great. He really cares about his students which cannot be said for most professors.
Best Prof in Queen's! He is very nice like my grandpa. I don't like math but he made me love STAT 263!
This guy is hands down the best professor I've ever had. He genuinely cares for his students and wishes for their success. Honestly, Molson is the professor that every professor should aspire to be. He makes such a dull subject sound interesting and fascinating. If i ever make it big and have to say a thank you speech, this guy will near the top
One of the best profs I have had thus far in my undergrad
The most memorable and probably best prof I had during undergrad. He has decades of experience teaching stats, so he's seen it all. Lectures are straightforward and clear. His best quality is that he's realistic. He understands the majority of students aren't passionate about stats, and just need the credit, and he really tailors his class to that.
I took this course because i had to and i've never been good at anything math-related. My plan was just to suck it up and try to pass. Turns out though, Prof Molson makes stats make sense - and even kind of fun. Suffice to say i was dreading this course but i did well and actually really enjoyed it... and i feel like Prof Molson is the reason why.
I respect a guy who makes stats actually enjoyable
Great Prof, couldn't be more pleased with him. I would definitely take a class with him again. Also very funny.
I'm a bit surprised about the amazing reviews. The lecture and the corresponding slides did not help me do anything more than scratch the surface of the theory behind what we're doing, 99% of any kind of understanding came from doing the homework/tutors. Might as well have not attended lecture. Fav prof ever? Y'all need to attend more classes.
I would get lit with this man
Nice Prof! All of his emails start with a quote. The last question of his final is a little tricky, about half of the questions are taken from Chapter 12. DO PRACTICE EXAMS!!!
Most caring prof at Queen's, genuinely has an interest in statistics and wants to convey his knowledge in a fun and inviting manner.
favourite instructor to date. lectures were interesting and comical.
best teacher I've had so far at queens!! He is the nicest man and really cares about his students, if you attend lectures you will do fine in the course. He is very helpful during office hours also
While a good professor who puts genuine passion and effort into his lecture videos, he is prone to rambling on and stumbling over words which can be extremely distracting. Perhaps in a face to face environment, this is less of an issue. For the online course, I think he would be better off like MATH 121 videos and have a concise script.
Amazing professor, but I still found the class content a little difficult. But that is probably because I am not the best at math. Make sure you do the recommended homework! Other than that, the professor is awesome and really funny.
Funniest Gem of a Professor, Love u Grandpa Chuck
He is awesome! !
What a gem. Not only is he very endearing and passionate about his students actually doing well, but flexible for issues that may arise. Very hands on teacher and willing to go the extra mile to help his students understand the course work!
The best professor by far I have ever had in undergrad. An incredible human being. I highly recommend watching some of the lectures he has about life and academic failure on his site as well as strike up a convo with him in person.
Literally one of the absolute nicest people I've ever met. Took this class as a dumb first year and struggled but he was super supportive and wonderful throughout. Even if I wasn't great at the content, he completely changed the way I think about statistics and the way statistics affects the world in general. Absolutely amazing. Love him.
very passionate about the lecture
Loved taking his course! My grade went from a D to an A+ in just three months once I applied myself. Molson is very communicative and encouraging, providing students with all the resources needed to succeed.
Probably the most entertaining teacher at Queens.
I have never had such an amazing and wonderful teacher. Last math class I took was in grade 10, so STAT 263 was a bit of a challenge. However, Charles' kind demeanor, jokes, and jazz music, inspired me to persevere. It's true what they say, a good teacher makes all the difference. Go to classes, use the resources, and watch your grades rise.
Best prof at Queen's, hands down! My first year started horribly and my marks drastically dropped in comparison to my grade 12 marks. Molson sent out an email after a bad midterm with a video explaining his journey to become a math major and it really lifted my spirits and motivated me to get my marks back up. 10/10 recommend! Classes are great!
Professor Molson is an amazing man, and he truly inspires you with the dullest subject (in my opinion). I was not an enthusiastic student about statistics, but I'm glad he was able to change my opinion on that. He is very helpful, caring, passionate, and hilarious. What more could you ask for??
Had a great time in this course because of him! I found his lectures to be funny and captivating. Even though it wasn't mandatory, I ended up going to all his lectures. You can tell he really cares about his students, and not only their grades, but also their wellbeing. Definitely would recommend!
Probably the coolest and most understanding professor I've had at Queen's. Seriously wants you to succeed.
Amazing prof, makes the lectures super interesting
An absolute saint. Truly a kind, compassionate and understanding person who is forthcoming with his hardships as a university student -- and yet was able to overcome this and excel. A professor like Charles Molson comes around once in a lifetime, and I am truly honoured to have learned under his instruction!
Professor Molson is a fantastic teacher and makes stats interesting. You don't need to go to his lectures as he posts everything you need online and prints copies of his slides, but I end up going to most of the lectures because he's very engaging and explains material well. Tests are fair and he helps you prepare by posting old exams and solutions
Chuck is the kindest and funniest professor I've ever had. He always brightens my day despite being stuck in an 8:30 statistics class. The content of this course is quite boring and tedious, yet Chuck still manages to make it enjoyable. I would 100% recommend Stat 263 with Chuck.
Easily the sweetest professor ive ever had. Makes my heart swell. Hes a gem
It has been 2 years since I have taken his class and I still think about randomly showing up to one of his lectures because I miss his teaching so much. I even wrote a review two years ago and decided he needed another one. That man is the best teacher alive.
The best prof I've ever had. This man in so charismatic, he was able to make lectures so enjoyable making you always want to attend. He is kind and understanding and truly cares about everyones success. If he taught other classes I would take them all, I could only hope to have a prof like him again.
Chuck is such a king, by far the nicest professor I've had. He truly cares about his students success and does everything he can to give the best mark possible. He knows stats is a boring subject but still manages to make lectures fun. The final exam is worth 60 or 90%, but if you study the past exams and ask for help you will do great!
A great class, with an amazing prof you can tell cares. Glad I got to experience it in person as Prof. Molson made my first fully in person uni class a real treat. Doing the homework in his class will be quite beneficial. Loved the class and the prof. Would go to his zoom lectures this sem just to hear him say "lurking variable, mwahahaha"
very nice prof
Professor Molson is the best prof you will ever have!!!!! He cares so much about his students and takes any question that is posed by a student to the highest standard, and he wants you to understand. Some of the topics may seem difficult and hard, but one little meeting with him either after a lecture or in an office hour will clear it all up!!
One of the most dedicated professors I've seen, truly cares about ensuring the success of the students. He wants you to understand the content and it shows in the way the lectures are taught and the clear and concise explanations given when questions are asked.
One of if not the best at Queens
Such an amazing prof, definitely go to his lectures when you can. He is so fun to listen to
He is simply awesome I want to have him for all my courses
Best professor ever! He genuinely cares about his students and will respond to all your questions and make sure you understand the material if you ask. Lectures are never boring, Molson is hilarious. Would take his class again. 10/10 prof
One of the best profs at Queen's.
Take the course, takee thisssssss course!! Thank me later
Nice guy, just doesn't feel like I learned very much. He goes over a ton of content, pretty fast, without any intuitive explanation. Not sure why he's rated so highly. The class average, despite some kind of curve/boost, was quite low, so a lot of people are both not learning anything and struggling in the course.
He reminds me of my Grandpa and I love my Grandpa. He never gives up on students and legit wants them to do well.
Plays blues at the start of every class and will happily take time to teach you anything you didnt understand at the end of lectures. Havent had a better prof yet.
This class is hard because of the fast pace, but Professor Molson is a very good prof and his lectures are entertaining. It is hard at times to separate his jokes and learning materials but he posts lectures online and gives many practice exams with answer keys. His actual exams and term tests are very similar to before making this class easier.
Awesome Prof, really cares and makes it his life mission to make this difficult class bearable, the weekly quizzes are fair and easy, the midterm and exams are easy since they are all the same format as previous exams. So as long as you do a bunch of old exams and midterms you will do well. Overall Top Tier prof, Would love to take his class again
The lectures were very entertaining and I highly recommend you go in person. Prof Molson is funny and sweet and I looked forward to going to his lectures. The material isn't hard as long as you do a couple of the textbook questions and do all the practice exams he gives you. And he will help you with any concepts you don't understand!
A really awesome prof, after taking this course, I decided to learn stats as my second major
This has been my favourite prof at Queens. He is very caring and passionate about teaching, he makes his lectures engaging and keeps it very light hearted with jokes and blues music every class. He posts the recorded lectures in case you cannot go, and will go out of his way to help you understand, also encourages you to ask questions in class.
Chuck Molson is a god among men. Genuinely the sweetest, kindest person you'll ever meet, encourages questions and makes you feel like a million bucks when you ask one. Almost-weekly quiz, midterm, final. But you really do need to practice. I made the mistake of not practicing bc I understood the lessons- don't be me! Great course: better prof!
Prof Molson is by far one of my favourite professors I've met at Queens. He's always available during office hours and us the most easy person to talk to. He's understanding, exceptionally caring, and funny. Definitely recommend taking STAT 263 to meet Professor Molson (as a bonus, you get to learn a lot about statistics too!)
Probably the best prof at queens.
let me start by saying. what an absolute legend of a man. He makes his class so enjoyable, and I actually get up to go to his early classes. You can tell he's really passionate about what he is teaching, and super approachable if you have any questions. The material is easy if you do the work. Honestly the best prof at Queens. What an absolute gem.
I love this man, I would jump in front of a bus for him. Genuinely an icon
He loves his job so much and you can tell. He is so excited every lecture to share what he knows; it is truly heartwarming.
He is just the best. It was a privilege to be his student. Don't take him for granted. Go to class. Appreciate him.
Simply put, amazing. He is a true gem with a heart of gold. Appreciate him and attend his lectures. He is a master at teaching and bringing smiles to people's faces. I only wish we had more professors like him. If you ever have the opportunity to be taught by him, make the most of it because you will miss it!
Really nice and entertaining prof, but he is so overrated on here. He zooms through the slideshows and does not explain the content. I am someone who is a very strong math student (Got close to 100 in math 121) and am finding it very difficult to understand the content from his teaching so far in the course.
Very engaging and funny prof. Makes going to lectures fun and worthwhile. Lectures are also extremely important if you want to do well in the class. Later content is more difficult, but by far my favorite/best prof so far at Queen's. I want him to be my grandpa.
Professor Molson makes this class so enjoyable. He's passionate, approachable, and genuinely cares about students' learning. unstuck study was a great tool for practice questions alongside the textbook.
Nothing but good things to say about Prof Molson. It is a privilege to have had him as a teacher. Our final exam is tomorrow and I'm getting a little bit too comfortable with the idea of failing just so I can take his class again. Queen's is lucky to have him :)
THE ABSOLUTE GOAT. Best prof I've ever had so far and while I am positively SCREWED for the final, I brought that upon myself. You could listen to this man speak about math for hours and he's also super chill when you talk to him in person. Just be sure to keep up on the course work because if you don't, the final will absolutely make u cry.
He is by far the most engaging, supportive, understanding, and intelligent professor I have had during my 3 years so far at Queen's University. Ain't nothing better than listening to his curated oldies playlist with him before a lecture. I wish he was my dad.
I loved this prof. He is an absolute beauty. If you attend class and keep up with the material by practicing the material he gives you will succeed in his class. Great professor
Awesome prof, lectures weren't boring, and the material was pretty straightforward if u are good with math
Actual GOAT, probably curved all the exams for everyone to pass LMFAO
Loved Chuck! Lectures aren't mandatory but worthwhile as he's a very enjoyable lecturer and makes concepts clear. Exams and quizzes are straightforward, so as long as you stay on top of coursework it's a bird.
Loved Chuck, super friendly and cares for students' wellbeing and academic success. Lectures aren't mandatory but worthwhile as he goes over key concepts and quiz questions. Exams and quizzes are straightforward and manageable.
lectures are posted online so u don't have to go but they're acc enjoyable. He explains everything clearly and sometimes he'll start talking abt smth random but he's funny and good at teaching so idc
When I took his introductory stats class in the first year of my first semester, I was a bit scared for my first day. Boy, was I wrong! Chuck teaches the class with his own books, and they are great! I was able to get a nearly perfect grade in the class because of this. He is such an amazing guy, and will chat to you personally about any questions
The person who said they got 100 in math 121 but found him difficult has never heard the age old joke that you're either a calculus or statistics person. Of course, that joke is a lie, and Prof. Molson teaches this class in a beyond easy way. I got 100 on his midterm and around 90 on his final exam, only the last page of the final gave me trouble.
The GOAT cares about what you learn, wishes nothing but the best for you.
seems like he was once an extremely good teacher, but he rambles on, tends to stumble over his sentences and goes far too quickly through the slides and concepts, making it hard to keep up. likely a result of age, but I disagree with other comments that he is currently an excellent teacher, although i will be fair and say it is clear he cares.
molson my beloved
MOLSON MY BELOVED  i came into this class to take it as a credit becuase it is required for some paths in computing but left sad becuase i might not have another class with him. he is so chill, funny, and all around good person, you can gell that he enjoys what hes doing and i would die for a teacher like this.
THE BEST prof you will probably ever have at Queen's. He explains all the material very clearly and if you do the homework questions the exam is super easy. He told us to just do old exams to study for the final and the problems were almost identical. 10/10
His lectures were so enjoyable and he is so great at explaining topics.
Very fair professor. Rounded my 89.42% to a 90% so I could finish with an A+. Best prof ever. Just learn the material and you will be fine.
Amazing experience! Very interesting and funny lectures and very generous grading system.
My best and favorite prof, too bad he is longer with us. The true "Normal Man". I will truly pity those who will study math at queens without Chuck.
One of the best professors at queens. Rest in peace Professor Molson
