Tests are very thorough! Know the material in your sleep!
you learn his family history more that you do the material
You will learn alot in this class. But know everything on the notes, esp. about doctors who studied unique things, such as dwarves

Great professor. Copies of his lectures available, he records his lectures. You HAVE to work hard to do well. The rests are multiple choice but still challenging. I highly recommend him. :)
He is a good teacher overall. Although he may tell you that you don't have to read the book, it is best if you do to get an A in the course.
His test come from the notes he gives you but you have so many notes you have no clue what to study!!
I had heard horror stories about him but once I got in the class it wasn't that bad. Yes, you have to study, but isn't that what college is about? Its also A&P which will be hard with any professor. He knows what he's teaching and he knows how to teach it to the students.
AWESOME dude. He's so funny! The class will be a breeze as long as you do all the extra credit, get the notes and study them, and do the crosswords. The notes study guide on WebCT helps. And if you do the clinical apps. worksheet and read over it you're fine.
GREAT teacher! I love him! He is so funny, and really knows what he is talking about! Definitely take him! :)
You have to actually study in this course. I enjoyed it. If you learn well by audio and visual, you'll do well. I recommend forming a study group
I hated him as a teacher. It was really hard for me and most of the people I know.
He is a very nice gentleman but he does not realize that the course is extremely difficult. Be prepared to study
wonderful teacher! Easy A if you want to study everyday! If you do not plan to actually learn the material prepare to FAIL!!Only serious students need apply!!
AWESOME!!! He is a wonderful teacher. I did not think that he was that hard. If you have taken other science courses you'll think he is easy. I go to class everyday, but don't study till the night before the test adn make an A in class.
15 dollars for 400+ pages of his lecture notes, tests are hard. he puts study games on his website and i studied those really hard and none of that was on the tests either. he tells a lot of stories that dont really matter. take someone else if you can. people who rate him well sucked up to him/studied every moment/liked his stories
Makes class interesting. Very sweet man.
Very good teacher. He has a nice and soothing accent too.
Very nice and funny, but didn't teach the really important stuff. Spent too much time on stories, ancedotes, and all the little facts that really don't mean anything. You will have to study a ton for this class, and even though he has notes printed for you and tons of study guides, they really useless. You have to go to class or you won't pass.
doesn't know how to teach
Great teacher. Crossword puzzles very helpful.
Biggers is very helpful and if you pay attetion in class you will learn a lot!!! It is a lot of notes but the notes are very detailed and easy to understand.
He is very hard, does not take role but the test are crazy!
Not a hard teacher but you have to go to class because he usually adds little things to the notes and then those will be questions on the test. You don't need the textbook but you do need the Clinical Applications book. He gives a ton of extra credit and lets you drop one of the four tests. I really enjoyed his teaching style and learned alot!
Very hard teacher. He gives 150pgs worth of notes 100 clinical applications all for a 60 question test!! No review just studying for 10hrs a night! a real headache!
He is a very nice teacher, but he will tell you to study for your test. THe question is what to study!! He wants to know all 50 pages of your notes and thats crazy!! If you work don't take this class cause you will fail.
you have to go to class in order to pass
heard it was hard but I didn't think so. he gives xtra cred. for every exam- if the whole class does BAD he offers even more-very helpful-he offers a tutor-go, it helps! and he puts a studymate online w/ pract. quizzes- and know the stories he tells- I studied 1-2 days before each test and made an A. he really knows his stuff- take him- he's great!
I always enjoyed his lectures.
I have to admit there are a lot of notes to study but if you study, then you will pass. He's a great teacher and funny too.
very fun teacher. you just have to study extremely hard. he gives a little extra credit with each exam, which really comes in handy. i passed with an A.
He is a great professor, funny and full of laughs. You MUST study HARD.. But will learn alot. He wants you to do good. Very nice professor, just a very HARD class
He is a funny nice man, but he gives you quizzes to study and atleast 2 questions on each quiz is wrong. I enjoyed going to class, but his tests are impossible to pass with a good grade. I studied weeks in advance and still made average grades. Nice man, but hard class....
horrible teacher. take someone else!!!!!
I love Dr. Biggers! However, do not be fooled...his class is extremely difficult and his tests are very tricky. You have to study to pass and do ALL of the extra credit! It may not seem like a big deal when he assigns it, but TRUST ME, it will help when you see your test grades!
Biggers' is a fun lovin guy. You must study hard to pass the test. WHAT IS IN HIS TEST ARE IN THE NOTES!!! The extra credit will surprise you in how helpful it is. He studies genetics so he teaches that way, but if you are going into the medical field-nusing,pharm.,etc. it will help you in your concentration later. I made a B in both 2010 & 2020.
You must be willing to study study study if you want to pass this class. He will work with you if you need to be absent and miss notes, but he is confusing sometimes in his lectures. Tests are hard because they are only around 60 questions but you have over 100 pages of notes and clinical applications to study so you can study for hours and do bad
I just recently took Biggers this summer for both Anatomy I and II, and overall, I thought he was a very good and nice professor. However, like other people on this forum have said, do not be fooled. You have to study. His exams are difficult, but passible. He's willing to help, but if you don't doyour part, it makes it very hard for him to help out
Biggers is da man. Any person who claims he is too hard is sad, pathetic and lazy. Go take Waits, I'm pretty sure you'll learn something......NOT!!!!
I took his class and failed! There were so many notes, you never know where to start. His lectures are long and he just reads from his notes. Nothing from his lectures/study guides are on the test! I retook this class at southwest and got an A. I recommend taking this course somewhere else!
Listen to the podcasts two or three times and the only time you'll have to come to class is to take the exams and turn in the extra credit. I did that and made a B. Oh, yeah, and do the extra credit too.
dr. b is the man! All you need to do is study; tests cover exactly what is in the notes and clinical apps.
Very hard class, but the teacher is fun
Nice teacher, but as others have said you got to study. It's not as easy as you think and I called myself doing my job, but it just didn't happen. If you're taking this course, do it in the summer or possibly take it alone cause when other classes are in the way, its hard to stay focused on this one.
He's a very good teacher, but really hard. He makes copies of his lecture notes and his in class lectures availible to everyone. Studying is a big must if you hope to pass the class.
very nice and funny professor, tests are a little hard but if you study what he says you'll be fine. He gives extra credit so take advantage of it, i learned a lot.
Cool teacher...tells more jokes than anything. never use the book only in lab you can study the notes all you want you'll still fail. or get a C you have to study day in and day out study clinical apps and re listen to the podscast over and over. my advise take another teacher.
Dr. Biggers is a nice guy who really knows the information. That said, his multiple choice tests are primarily based on obscure information that is overall not very relevant to the class. Study his book (500 pages or so) of notes and you will make an A or B with his extra credit and final curve. It also helps to listen to the podcasts.
Very good teacher. He loves to talk about food and a lot of times uses food for comparisons. Study Clinical Applications and notes, and also be sure to listen to podcasts again. Do all that and you will do great in there.
He has his own set of notes, no book needed. His lecture is also recorded so you don't even have to come to class. You'll make an A if you study. He gives out extra credit and curve at the end. Excellent teacher, you'll definitely learn from him
He is very nice but like a lot of people have said, I don't think he realizes how difficult he can make this class sometimes.I had never had him before and his test can be a bear, even with lots of study time.Luck is important to get above a C.You could study for days but if you missed that little note in the corner of pg5, sorry!Book can help.
VERY difficult to follow during lectures. Wanders off on a lot of irrelevant topics. Tests questions don't seem like they come from lecture at all. No need for the book, other than for the lab. If you see him outside of class he is more than happy to help you out. But I would not take his class again.
Dr. Biggers is a cool professor. You have to study super hard!! Luckily he has podcasts to listen to if you happen to miss class. His lectures can be boring but his sense of humor makes up for it. Tests can be scary but as long as you study and get tutoring from the SI program you should do fine. HIGHLY RECCOMEND
I really enjoyed his class. True, he rambles, but if you study and pay attention in class and take good notes you'll be fine. He offers regular extra credit and his tests are exactly from his notes. His podcasts are super helpful if you miss class. Take him for sure!
Okay so Dr. Biggers is a great guy and knows a lot about this subject but he seems to like to get off topic a little which can totally mess you up. There are a lot of notes and clinical applications. STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!! Very tough test, I'll have to retake his class but if you really put all study time you possibly can...it is possible to pass
Biggers is hard, but man does he help. Extra credit is given and ALL his lectures are on podcast which is very helpful! i FULLY recommend him even though it's hard, i mean what anatomy class is easy? you HAVE to study though, couple of all nighters. he is hilarious too which makes lectures not so boring.
Dr Biggers is really awesome. He's very sweet and funny and if you sit on the front row he'll be friends with you. Really liked him. He's hard but totally worth it. I've heard he's much better than the other A&P uofm teacher. YOU CAN DO IT!
Dr. Biggers is very funny. Like others have said, there are podcasts, and extra credit. You must do your clinical applications to do well on the test. StudyMate is very helpful. You will have to study A LOT, but you will also learn a lot. Have a meeting with him after your first exam and he will explain how to type notes to make it easier.
Great teacher!! The class is tough because there is so much information. His tests can be incredibly difficult, but if you study A LOT-- you will do just fine. He is a "teacher"--you will learn a ton from him! Would definitely reccomend him to anyone, but only if you are willing to put in the time and effort! Nice, funny guy!
Dr. Biggers is one of the most dedicated professors Ive had. He clearly loves teaching and his students. Dont be scared of the tests; just go to the study sessions and break down the notes. After the first test its not difficult to get the hang of it. Overall fantastic teacher!
STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! There is SOO much info on the tests. The class is really boring. He is really smart and know the material, but not great on conveying it to the class. He makes an attempt at being funny which helps class a bit. And he gets off subject. Try taking it with someone else or at southwest. Its possible to pass but not easy. VERY HARD
I loved Dr. Biggers&I'm taking him again for 2020! His tests are difficult, but if you listen to the lecture podcasts, pay attention in class, and study, you'll be fine! He puts a huge curve on at the end anyways. He's so fun to listen to in class; I feel like I've learned more from his class than any other I've taken. You won't regret taking him!
Dr. Biggers cares about your education! Make use of the extra resources he puts up on eCourseware, don't get lazy on Clinical Apps, and follow along in class (or listen to podcasts later - though I did have trouble with a couple of them over the semester). No need for the book unless you want pictures, but diagrams from lab worked just fine for me.
Good teaching ability
He knows the material, but isn't a good professor. He gets off topic all the time during lecture. He has been known to put two correct answers for the same question on his tests and only count one correct. He gives plenty of extra credit and if you put in the work it will most likely pay off in his class.
I love Dr. Biggers! He is very hard, and you MUST study. His tests are challenging, and you can't just show up to class and expect to make an 'A'. I studied every day for my 'A', and am much more knowledgeable about A&P now. If you really want to learn, not just get a credit, Dr. Biggers is the teacher for you.
took him for A&P2. He tells stories about grandkids & keeps it interesting & he records all his lectures on podcast so you can listen to them over again & take detailed notes. For tests, study the study mate vocab, notes,& podcast. pay attention to his stories, you may think that he is off topic but they may show up on test. I studied hard for my A.
Dr. Biggers is a good professor..he helps a lot if u seem as a hard working student..and yeah u need to study..thats what we're in college for..all his extra credit helps...totally recommend him.
Dr. Biggers is a great professor..he keeps the class interesting with his stories..studying his lecture notes and a little bit of the textbook will get u thru this course with flying colors..i made an A in his class and learned a lot..Thank U Dr. Biggers!!!
It is obvious he knows what he is talking about but his stories really get in the way and become distracting. If you can get past the stories then it will be fine. You definitely have to study and I recommend listening to the podcasts to pass tests.
This class is so much harder than it needs to be. Biggers is a nice man and knows what he is teaching, but it is so musch info to take in just one semester. The tests are VERY hard and the extra credit does not really help that much. if you need to pass this class i would recommend the other guy or southwest. i got a B in this class, but it HARD
Good Professor.... To get an A in Biggers class you must be in class although it's not mandatory.... The podcast are helpful and the notes are mandatory.... overall good professor and good class...
Dr. Biggers is a VERY smart man and knows what he is talking about. You will learn a lot from this class. However, his tests are hard and you must study, study, study. Always do the clinical apps because they make up about 15% of the tests and do the extra credit.
Not here to bash on Dr. Biggers, but his class is extremely hard. If you take this class you better be prepared to have your entire life revolve around this class or you will not pass. Tests are HARD and if you do not study and go to class you will not pass. I got a good grade both semesters, but i studied a whole lot. Biggers is nice, but hard!!!
Very good teacher. Knows his stuff inside and out. GO to class everyday. CAnt miss one day. He gives you 8 extra bonus points on every exam from quizzes and crossword puzzles. He drops your lowest exam out of 4. Test are not easy at all. You def. have to make this class your life for a couple of months. I would def take Biggers over anybody
I am happy to say that I am done with this class. Some advice to some of you who have to take this class, YOU MUST go to class, do the extra credit, study for tons of hours, and go to tutoring if you want to pass. This class is HARD and you have to be willing to have your life revolve around this one class, but the feeling accomplishment is worth it
I took Biggers for both A&Ps and it's not so much that he is hard as it is that you just have to dedicate a WHOOOOOLE lot of time to studying and if you can do that and memorize those notes up and down and look over the clinical apps a couple days in advance, you'll be fine. you do not have to go to class to pass. just podcast! boring but it helps!
i made As in both but i was studying non-stop until i had those notes memorized and got a good understanding of it. best to take this class along with easier classes so you can have that much needed studying time!
This is by far the worst experience I have had in college thus far. He is very forgetful about what has been, or not has been discussed, and then put it's on the test. I've inquired by questions on the test that are not mentioned until the next section, and he threatened to take my extra credit points. Run as fast as you can, stay away..
Horrible teacher....nice guy but teaching skills suchs....please take someone else you would do much better
Dr. Biggers was an excellent teacher, he offered very good study material and he also taught me how to study. He offered extra credit to help out with every test. I highly recommend him. I decided to take A&P I at another school only because my work schedule does not allow me to attend his class. I recently took A&P II from him last Spring.
Yes you have to go to class. Yes you have to take notes. yes you have to study. but you will learn a ton if you take this class and study hard. It may be a lot of notes but all you are required to do is study for the tests however, the extra credit is the difference between letter grades. I followed his study advice and pulled out an A for A&P I&II
Biggers is forgetful. Teaches one thing one way and then another. Analogies are fine, stories are the reason he can't teach the material ontime and you suffer for it. Teaches 10 pages a day for 10 classes, then crams 30+ pages because he is behind. asks very obscure questions. MUST memorize everynote and every story. REALLY
Terrible....Warning please take the course with the other professor or @ a community college. My first is exam was scheduled two weeks into the course and we did not take it until 3 weeks later!!! His notes are a bunch of garbage, I had to attend tutoring everyday just to pull a B almost a C in the course!!!
I really enjoyed Dr. Biggers A&P classes. I think the difficulty is over wrought. This is college, there should be some studying. It only takes a couple hours a week to review the material and ensure retention. Anyone who is having trouble with this class and planning on Nursing may need to reconsider their major.
If you study his notes & listen to podcast you don't have worry. Follow his tips on how to study & type up notes it really helps!I thought he was pretty easy but there were random questions on test also.I only went to 3 SI sess.but didn't really help much.Just study a few days b4 tests u'll be fine. This class does not take up much time 2 study!
No wonder undergrad degrees are no longer sufficient - people are used to easy coursework with easy teachers. This is a college course so it requires some work. It's not that hard if you put forth some effort. BIOL 2010 I worked hard and made an A (like many others who attempted) and for 2020 I slacked off but made a B. It's not that hard.
i love love love dr biggers class. keep up and listen to his podcasts and you are good to go :)
Great funny old man... You should show up to Class if you want the notes to be clear...might seem hard but all you have to do is study a little bit everyday for him ...first average on first exam was 45 ...but I work two jobs and didn't cram before and I passed with a 75...just study listen to podcast...if your lazy dont take him
Dr Biggers uses his notes that you buy at Office Max. The book is used for lab and clinical connections. His tests come from his notes not the textbook. Listen to podcast and you should be fine.
Great class. Takes Anatomy out of the text book and makes it interesting. Attendance is mandatory but in those random cases where attendance is not an option, podcasts clarify anything you may have missed.
Dr. Biggers is so nice and funny, and he uses his stories to help concepts seem more clear. This is a class you MUST study for each and every single day if you want a good grade; cramming at the last minute will get you nowhere. Buy the notes, go to class, and listen to the podcast and you should come out alright.
This class was fun and easy took a&p 1 and 2! My grades were B+ and A. Come to class also listen to the podcast and you will be fine. Also if you are a nursing major learn those clinical apps. because you will need them for nursing school. He will help you if you ask alot of these ratings does not do him any justice. I think the other guy is much harder. Take biggers just do what he asks and you will be fine.
STUDY!. Listen to the podcast. read the book. DO NOT wait till the last minute to try and study for the test, because you would not do well. biggers gives you everything you need to pass the class. If you fail, it's because you did not try as hard as you could have. Really. I got a "C", and it was because I was lazy. You can't be in this class!!!
Dr. Biggers is a nice guy. He will give you as much help you need. The class is not easy. You HAVE to study and listen to the podcasts. Try studying and listenig to a few podcasts a day. You should do well.
Dr. Biggers is an awesome professor. He knows his stuff! Make sure to STUDY! This is not the class to goof off in and try to coast through but then again that's what college is supposed to be right? Listen to the podcasts and LEARN YOUR CLINICAL CONNECTIONS!!!!! Definitely a must take professor if you're a nursing student like me.
Dr. Biggers is very knowledgeable about A&P!I did not take him for A&P1 but I enjoyed A&P2.This is not hard to pass at all if you put in the effort to study.DO NOT just study the lecture notes however.I relied heavy on my book and that is how I earned my high grades on exams. All the info is very valuable, especially for health majors.I enjoyed it.
This is not a class that you can pass without much studing. Attendance is not mandatory but there is a roll to sign though I recommend you go for the lecture because he gives hints for exams and he'll use attendance to curve grades. Utilize the tutoring! He'll also drop the lowest grade
Don't take him. Take Simco instead. He has super confusing notes and was one of the worst teachers I have had.
This is a class you have to study for. Go to class because he uses attendance to curve grades. Tutoring helps more than the professor’s lectures. Also know the Clinical Connections and the scientists he gives. They are on the exams! And don't fret too much because he loves to add points to exams but don't rely on it!
DON'T EVEN BOTHER. This class is very very stressful. The exams are STUPID hard (studying or not) You have 4 exams. One exam is dropped. The final counts as TWO test grades. Don't do it to yourself PLEEEASE.
This class is not as hard as people tend to make it seem. It is not one of those classes that you can easily pass by studying at the last minute. If you study, attend study sessions, and put in effort, then you can pass with at least a C. He does, however, make tricky exams. He adds a few points, so it is a trade. With determination, I made an A.
If you are a Nursing major, you should take him. His class is very difficult & stressful but I think it will help a lot once you get into the nursing program. I got a B+ and studied just about every night. There's no 'right' way to study for this class because he just puts whatever he wants on the exam. If you don't HAVE to take this class, don't.
His class is not as hard as everyone says; time consuming but not too difficult. Studying is a must. Read the clinical connections in the book, get his notes and listen to the podcasts because he can be unclear and jump around with his lectures. Study sessions are available, but I never went and passed with an A. He also curves the grades
Where to start? I'll say this: he is a nice man. Kinda like a cool grandpa. But he is way too old to teach. I thought everyone was joking when they said he takes 3 months for the first test then jams the last three up. Not joking. Asks stupid questions about his daughters and animals and words his questions for the sole purpose of tripping you up.
ONE WORD: STRESSFUL! This class was by far the most difficult all year from 2010 the first semester to 2020 the second. There is entirely TOO MUCH to study for one exam alone. I never felt confident before or even after taking an exam in that class. Biggers lectures and test questions hardly ever correlate. >> STRESSFUL! << Good Luck!
Everyone has always said how hard and awful his class was. Personally, I did not find that it was either for me. I loved to go to his classes because while he does tell stupid stories, he also give valuable, accurate and USEFUL info. Like anything else, go to class, study, ask questions. You learn a lot from people who love what they do.
DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN!!! GO TO SOUTHWEST IF YOU HAVE TO!!! he is scatterbrained and no matter what you do for his tests, you prob won't do well. try to avoid if possible! he rambles about nothing until like two weeks before exams and then BAM everything! he tries with podcasting and his notes but still...try another prof.
He is a terrible teacher, but unfortunately the only physical teacher UofM offers. He is confusing, but bases his tests off the notes he gives. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE BOOK. He gives prints of his notes at an office store in Germantown and also puts PDFs of them on eCourseware. Also makes you buy his own book. Unfortunately, this is needed.
This professor needs to retire. You can be a great student and study but you have to be able to study for his class 24/7 literally. He took until the week before fall break then gave three test within four weeks who truly can study that much with such a short amount of time. When you sign up for his class think of it like a summer course
Definitely not an easy class. You have to be willing to put in some serious time & effort studying. He does drop your lowest grade & then adds bonus points to the other tests, which helps, but don't depend on it. Just study, study, study! The class is not impossible; just takes determination. The worst thing you can do is let negativity get to you.
His lectures sometimes go in circles, but if you just stick with him then he usually wraps up his example. You will not use the textbook!! You will use the Great Minds book. He also tells you that his lecture notes are optional, BUY THEM!! There is no way that I could have made it through the class without them. He only uses the notes to teach.
Biggers is a great teacher, he is so full of knowledge he sometimes gets lost in his words though. He is retiring after this semester, and myself along with many others students will miss him dearly. Such a precious teacher. Best of wishes to him!
I took Dr. Biggers for Ap1 and 2 for my nursing for my nursing prereqs. I really enjoyed his class, even his corny jokes. He is really passionate, and it's contagious. However, be prepared to work. Listen to his lectures as often as possible. If you want to be in healthcare, this is important information, so take it seriously.
