I really enjoy his class since he really cares and put effort into helping all the student understand the concept.
The grading of this course is really harsh. It is the most nitpicking grading I have ever encountered at uw. You would be punished for absurd reasons like "not enough reader scaffolding". Even cse 143 style grading is easier to follow because there is at least a general style guide.
Charles is the goat honestly, he puts so much work into making sure his students are successful and explains concepts during lecture in such simple terms.
Charles is very good in explaining the theories, and always give examples in every sub-topics. I always enjoy going into his lectures, the environment in class is very good, his pace was great. The only cons would probably be his handwriting, but overall, Charles is the goat of Math dept.
Great prof! His lecture notes are very accessible & easy to read. He is sincere, makes class fun, and is very interactive. His office hours are short however, he helps everyone as much as he can. I would recommend taking his class as someone who's weak in math. Sweet guy!
Professor Camacho has a great teaching style that is very easy to understand, even though the class is faster-paced. Although the class is designed to push you and possibly make you fail, his lectures are very focused on whether you understand the topic. It is very apparent he wants his students to succeed and grow in mathematics.
Professor Camacho is a great professor! I struggle with math personally but he really wanted me and everyone to succeed. You can schedule a personal appointment with him if you need it. If you need to take calc and aren't great with math I highly recommend this professor.
Good teacher and gave us plenty of resources to help us pass the class. The only problem I had with the class was the harsh grading of the tests. He does give the option to ask for a regrade but even after the regrade I still felt like I was being cheated. He does not give regrades on finals and he also turned off his email for a week after it too.
This class made me feel like I could learn quickly without being overwhelmed. Office hours were always helpful, lecture notes are accessible, and midterm regrade requests were simple. My one complaint is that we couldn't view our final exam unless it was by appointment the next quarter. Still one of the best professors I've had.
The exam and grades are fair.
Really good professor and would always overstay to help people at MSC past his office hours. Lectures were great at explaining topics. The workload for 124 (Webassign) is the worst out of the math series, and he allowed automatic 2 day extensions for the rest of the Webassigns of the quarter. Exceptionally nice and explains concepts very well.
Fine teacher, but it did feel like his lectures were useless because they were far easier than any of the homework or tests and he did not explain his work very well. My class consistently scored lower on all tests, including the final, by an average of 10%. Seemed like a nice guy though.
Cared for students and was very lenient with late homework. Lectures did feel useless as they only covered very surface level stuff in comparison to the midterms and homework
Very accommodating, can tell he really cares about his students. Early in the quarter he ended up providing all students an automatic 2-day extension on all homework and always seemed very happy to answer questions from students in lecture. Homeworks are a lot but they're department-wide so not his fault. Very kind and understanding. TAKE HIM!
Can't say enough good things, made math fun.
As someone who nearly failed calc in high school, his teaching really helped me succeed in college calculus
Camacho's lectures were very easy to follow and understand, but were always the simplest version of problems and then we would encounter significantly harder ones on homework and exams. Often made things seem easier than they were. Very nice guy tho and he wants you to do well. Automatic full credit homework extensions were the best.
I think this was his first time teaching Calc 2. I found the class to be pretty difficult but I don't think that was his fault. The math department is just crazy. The tests were fair, but I feel like there were some topics during lecture that just weren't explained clearly. I often had to look to other sources for help.
Hands down the greatest math prof and maybe overall best prof I have ever had. His class was, for me at least, extremely difficult (probably not what you want to hear), but I was able to get a 4.0. His exams were, in my opinion much harder than the archived exams, but he makes up for it by being an amazing and caring person who knows his stuff!
Camacho is a skilled lecturer and kind professor. Unfortunately, the material (concepts, examples) in his lectures were not anywhere near the same level of difficulty as the homework assignments, midterms, and especially final exam. He can't necessarily control the assignments and exams, as they are department-wide, but they are brutal nonetheless.
Words cannot express my respect for him. I'll never have such a good teacher again.
The midterm is too difficult!!!
Although the midterm is hard(but I think it's not that hard, just more calculations and questions), his curve is soooooooo nice!!! Even if I were a professor, I wouldn't get my students high marks so easily. His lecture and pre-lecture are also clear. Love him so much. If you want to have a math class, Camacho is the best choice.
LOVEEEEE!!! Best Math Teacher ever. He gives pre-lectures before each lecture session, which was really helpful. Even though midterm 1 was pretty hard, the curve he gave out for the midterm was sooo good!
Easily one of the best professors I've had at UW. His teaching skills are phenomenal and I always absorb information well with him teaching. Beware, as his midterms and finals are fairly difficult, however you can still succeed with a good amount of studying and practice, attending office hours, and doing practice midterms.
Great professor who you can tell really cares about his students. Midterm difficulty was a bit weird (the 1st was super hard and the 2nd was super easy), but he was very accommodating after the 1st midterm and adjusted our grades accordingly. This quarter was his first time teaching the class so if you take him later they should be fairly standard.
He is such a sweetheart
Good for his first time teaching the course. Tests are the biggest graded part, but some credit for the webassign homework. Textbook is a supplement so don't use it to learn topics from scratch (not very good book) Good at explaining things and practice problems. Go to office hours for help Skipped lectures and did fine, but skip at your own risk.
Best math professor so far, the content is hard but it's not his fault, Professor Camacho manages to explain them well, and I start to love math. Go to office hour, he's really nice and basically answers all your questions, and do some practice, then you will be just fine :)
Not a good test writer… the 1st was too hard and involved question types never practiced in class. The 2nd he told us exactly what the questions would be, making it too easy. The order he teaches topics isn't the most strategic; my hs calc teachers structured their content better. He's also good at disappearing when people are bound to email most.
His pre-lecture videos are helpful.
He is a good lecturer and the homework pre-lecture videos are really helpful but I have to downgrade a little for the awful first midterm that went over topics not covered in class and was worded terribly. I do believe that overall though its the the 12X series being the worst and less on the professor.
I wish I had him for math 124 & 125! His classroom is very accessible and re-sparked my interest in learning math: well structured class, organized canvas page, in depth pre-lecture vids, & notes on OneNote. Attendance only mandatory for discussion sec. If there wasn't a character limit, I'd write essays on how much I recommend and appreciate him
Most complaints on Camacho is probably on the the extremities of his exams. His first midterm had 50% median (curved to 72%) while the second midterm had 97% median. By the time others take his class, this shouldn't be an issue since he will know how to give out better exams. His lectures are great though and he's a very nice and lenient teacher.
fought for my life to get a 3.7. he's really nice and decent at explaining concepts (VERY good at drawing 3D models!), but it's funny how he always says don't email me after releasing a grade💀 also the first midterm sent me spiraling and doubting my entire career like i cried several times
He's a great lecturer but isn't very good at writing exams. Either extremely difficult or too easy. Pre-lecture videos cover everything in lecture, so there really isn't any point of going.
Lectures were really helpful but he did not always cover everything, so make sure to watch the pre-lectures. There was quite a bit of online HW. The first midterm was significantly more difficult than the second midterm or the final. I think it was his first time teaching 126 but he has a good personality and lectures never got boring.
Overall a very kind and lenient professor and pretty decent at explaining concepts in pre-lecture videos + lectures. However, he‘s rather poor at writing fair exams. This made the IQR for the course extremely narrow and so the curve was harsh. He also did a poor job in the Taylor series unit, and it seemed most ppl had to self teach.
Camacho is a really good teacher. First midterm was hard, and second midterm was easy, but the final was fairly written. The pre-lecture videos are incredibly important to learn the content. Camacho was an outstanding teacher and very clearly explained concepts in lecture as well as office hours. You should take him if given the opportunity.
Great professor, pre lecture content was super helpful and he was v
Great professor, pre lecture content was super helpful and he was very gracious with his tests, despite the first midterm being pretty tough
This man. Boy oh boy, where do I start? This man has been the best math professor I've ever had, his lectures are things of legend. His midterms cause tears of joy. For reference, the second midterm had a MEDIAN of 34/35. Jokes aside definitely take him if you get the chance. Lectures arent mandatory but are incredibly helpful. He truly cares.
I can say this is the best math professor in UW! He's really careful and warm-heart. I got 4.0 in the end and took lots of work but I can say it worth! If you want to take math 126 then choose Charles!!!!!!!!
I think this was one of his first times teaching Math 126 because the first exam was brutal and basically tanked everyone's gpa right from the start. The examples he used in class were often way too simple/easy compared to the homework and exams. He's a really nice and understanding guy who will help you if you ask/go to office hours.
Brought great enthusiasm to lectures, pre-lecture videos were incredibly helpful. His exams varied a lot in difficulty, final and midterm 2 were easy, while midterm 1 tanked my grade but its content made sense to me once I actually sat down and studied for the final. Overall, excellent lecturer, moderately difficult, but study and you'll do well.
Extremely friendly and approachable. Quiz and exam problems were much harder than the lecture and homework problems.
Camacho had fantastic lectures that enhanced my learning of the subject. Only bad thing is that he isn't great at writing tests, first midterm he created way too difficult of an exam, second midterm it was much too easy. Very kind man though!
Camacho was an amazing professor for Math 126. The pre-lecture videos were very helpful and were honestly where I learned a bulk of the content. The lectures themselves were focused on going over examples. There were some issues with test difficulties, but he curved them fairly. I felt that his lectures and prepared me well for the final.
The pre-lecture content was really amazing and allowed me to fully understand what was going on in class. Camacho is really receptive to feedback and there are lots of resources in order to do well on the exams. Besides being an experienced teacher, he has a great personality and made the lectures interesting and draws well in 3D.
A kind professor. His pre-lecture videos are better than the actual lectures. They go over the entire topic in only about 15-20 minutes (double speed). His explanations sometimes use unconventional thought processes that may or may not click for you. Personally, I disliked his method of explaining concepts, but I know some people who liked it.
Professor Camacho is one of the sweetest men ever. He is very kind, and gives lots of resources to help you learn. The content is tough, but there are pre lecture lessons for all lectures, videos, sometimes a few, ranging from 15-20 minutes. All lectures also recorded. The first test he gave was really difficult for everyone but he rounded it well.
Great professor and guy. He genuinely cares about helping everyone succeed and is very organized. Class material was consistently posted early and expectations were made very clear very early on.
Very good professor, his lectures a very well spent. He cares a lot about people's learning and holds lots of office hours for extra help. Beware his tests are super tough, but he grades on a curve. Highly recommend.
Great lectures, semi-tough class. Homework and quizzes aren't hard but he can write some very hard questions for the midterms. Prelecture videos are better than the lectures for learning the material, actual lecture is just practice problems. His lecture problems are always way easier than the exam and quiz questions though.
Very great professor and on the come up. It is clear that he wants you to learn and succeed despite the horrendousness of the calc series.
Great class structure, explained things well in prelecture videos. It was his first time teaching 126 so he made the first test too hard and the second too easy, but was overall not bad.
He offered resources for students in canvas and is very kind and happy to answer questions. His pre-lectures and lectures were confusing and hard to follow due to the way he would explain concepts. In class, we would do examples as well but it would be nothing near how complicated the web-assign would be.
His exams were not well written(he failed to adjust the difficulties) but curves were nice and his lectures are just amazing. Very well organized and makes sure everyone understands the concept. Also very friendly and caring. He is always kind to students whenever they ask questions.
Really clear lectures. Had a pre lecture that went over the basics before the class itself which is worth watching, actual lectures were mostly for tougher problems. Super organised and understanding of his students.
I really liked this professor. He gave a really time constrained midterm I but curved it generously to make up for it. I felt like the tests were very balanced and he is very good at preparing you for them if you read the notes and show up to class.
He's really good at lectures and outs our pre-lecture videos that are great for studying for exams and reviewing as well as preparing you for the classes.
He's an amazing instructor who takes the time to make sure his students actually understand the material. His class is difficult, but Calc 2 is a tricky topic and Charles does everything right when it comes to teaching. Make sure to watch his pre-lectures! They're super helpful!!
Class was lecture heavy, but he is around to answer questions after. He is a very nice guy, and passionate about teaching and I enjoyed his class in the fall. His examples are very clear, he goes through where equations come from and then he does multiple examples which is helpful. He has good review days before midterms and exams as well.
Great lecturer and the pre lectures are super helpful.
Charles Camacho is the best math teacher I've ever had. He does not miss a beat during lectures, and is also very funny at times. Camacho made math 125 easy haha. Quizzes and worksheets during section are graded on participation not correctness. He does put out a lot of prelecture vids, about an hour or so every night. I recommend watching them.
Professor Camacho made me love math. His lectures felt quick and easy, and it made me feel super confident with my calculus abilities. His office hours are super chill, he's a very thoughtful person which made it super easy to get help. Seeing someone so passionate about a topic was extremely inspiring, and I really hope I can take Math 125 w/ him!
Great Professor. Releases pre-work videos on Edstem that essentially tell you everything you need to know about the topic, making homework easier and giving you a lot more free time than some other professors would give.
Professor Camacho is an amazing professor and you can tell that he genuinely cares about his students. His pre-lecture videos are so organzied and easy to understand, and he is very attentive and gives one-on-one help during the lectures and during office hours. I highly recommend taking him as a professor.
Created an account on here to write this review if that says anything. Prelecture videos rule. Definitely take advantage of office hours throughout the quarter. Great prof overall
Super great teacher, he doesn't know how to make tests though. Lectures help, but his pre-class videos are necessary (and also godsent, they're so good). Super nice dude too.
he was a really great professor, very chill and made lectures interesting. the pre-lecture videos were always super helpful, make sure to watch them!! and do the homework, it'll definitely help. weekly quizzes for participation
Super great at explaining things, SPOT ON pre-lectures. Charles makes calculus a breeze.
Camacho genuinely cares about his students and he makes sure lectures aren't extremely boring. He provides pre-recorded lectures on all the main concepts before class and uses class time to solve example problems. The midterms weren't too bad, but the final was much more difficult.
He is a really poor explainer, he gives examples but doesn't give us any strategies for writing proofs on our own. I got a 76 on the final and that was a 4.0 since the entire class failed because of how bad he is at explaining things. It left me really unprepared for the next proof writing class. To his credit, he is very available at office hours.
He makes lots of prelecture videos which are super helpful and important to watch, but they are really nice for reinforcing concepts. His midterms were pretty easy and all had high averages which gave a nice cushion for the final which is always tricky. He is very nice and understanding and definitely wants his students to succeed.
Had Camacho for 125 and he was the absolute best, but the way he described 126 went right over my head. Loveless was a fill in for a lecture and it was clear he has mastered how to convey the geometric portion to students. Curve was super high on most tests so impossible to 4.0. Camacho was great for 125 but definitely take loveless for 126.
I came from prof. Perkins. Night and day difference. Word of advice: skip perkins and come to camacho lectures instead. Thank me ltr
From the sounds of it, it may have just been the quarter I took this class, but the midterms were terrible. The first one was so difficult I saw people leave crying, and the second was so easy the median was 34/35, which made for an awful course grade curve. That being said, I really liked the pre-lecture videos he made for the course.
Lowk the goat of math
This teacher is amazing! It is very evident that he cares about our learning and does everything he can to make sure that we get the support we need. He holds lots of office hours, utilizes real midterm problems, and gives ample time to ask questions. Content is hard but he does everything he can to make it better. Good lecturer. Just Webassign HW.
126 was a conceptually difficult class in my option compared to 124 and 125. This guy made the material make sense and he provides a million resources. 10/10
i had Camacho for 125/126 last year and i made this account just to say that he is THE GOAT. great pre-lecture videos and lectures, very friendly and approachable guy, just wants to help students get the material. he is the best math professor i've ever had, maybe even the best professor period -- if you get the chance to take his class, do it!
Charles brought a lovely attitude to math. He was consistent and always happy to help with questions if someone wasn't understanding. He creates videos to watch before very helpful lectures. While slow to respond to emails, he is about as accessible as a professor as I have had. Getting homework done timely is crucial to understanding content.
Camacho is genuinely a good calc professor and he explains things very clearly. The problems many students have are just with how calc at UW is overall. Make sure to go to office hours and genuinely take the homework and quiz sections seriously or you'll fall behind on the fast paced content.
He's an amazing professor, and easy to talk with. He's interested in student learning, and wants everyone to succeed. Calc, sucks and is hard, but he makes it an experience you'll survive and made me want to attend class.
Camacho is a caring professor who wants you to succeed. He's very kind and soft spoken. He's great at teaching the material, the class and material itself is just extremely difficult. Would take a class taught by him again!
Love this guy
Dr. Camacho was a very nice professor to me. I ended up going to many of his office hours and he was always happy to provide help when needed. If you're stuck on a question he will not only help you get through what you were stuck on but stick with you until you finish entirely. Out of 400+ students he knew me by face too which was very nice. 11/10
He's a great lecturer and explains the concepts very well! He's also incredibly understanding and very easy to talk to. The midterm questions are also very fair.
Charles is a super sweet and caring guy - he earnestly listens to any problem you have about the class, and takes feedback into consideration seriously. Pre-lecture videos are clear, though some topics that show up on Webassigns etc aren't really introduced at all. Quiz Sections are eh because the TAs can be super clueless. Tough class though.
Good. Just pure goodness. Good teaching, good vibes, good test questions (though I'm pretty sure all 126 classes have the same final exams). Office hours can be quite full though. Please go to enhanced office hours and do the problems--they are usually pretty creative and fun!
Camacho is the man. He made my first quarter of uw math enjoyable. Lectures were mostly focused on applying things we learned to practice problems. His pre-lecture videos is where you learn how the math works conceptually. He's a really smart guy, can't go wrong with him.
Charles gives you all the tools you need to succeed and helps make everything really easy to understand! He's super chill and makes an effort to keep us engaged (sometimes when he says 6 7…I just KNOW it's on purpose), and you can tell he really cares about our success and wellbeing. Love that man!
Camacho is a very kind and helpful professor. He has pre-lecture videos and goes over the material again in class which really helps! The tests aren't the worst, but they aren't the easiest either. He has a lot of office hours and does exam zoom review sessions. Decent amount of homework but it's good practice overall. I definitely recommend him!
Great lectures but more difficult midterms than other MATH 126 professors.
Great lecturer, goes very in depth and seems to genuinely enjoy teaching. Practice exams are a phenomenal way to study for the exams as the difficulty tends to be rather consistent. Nice guy too.
