Great Teacher
I thought this class was going to be boring but he made it interesting. He has a great sense of humor and encourages class debates (warning: he is a lawyer). Tests are very long but there is usually a curve. He also was kind enough to assign extra credit. This was a very informative and enjoyable class.
Great professor. You would think a government class would be boring, but he is just a fantastic teacher and actually makes it interesting. A few notes about the class. 1.u will rarely have more than 20 people show up to his lectures. 2. the test are very easy, if uread all the sections before hand, youll easily make an A evry time. 3. Extra credit.
Chesbro is a great professor. He has a wonderful sense of humor and that makes class more interesting. Assignments are straight-forward, but are time consuming. He's not going to sympathize a whole lot if you can't find a few answers. But just do the work and you'll be fine.
He was an okay teacher in 2005. He doesn't really go over the test material in class, at all, but he does give a curve.
Class consists of lecture and 5 tests. Assignments and quizzes are not given - this makes acheiving a good grade difficult. (One bad test grade will pull your average down with little opportunity to make it up) Extra credit is offered.
If you do all of the assignments on time and give a crap about them, you will get an A..hes a good guy and teaches an essential subject for those who are intending on going to law school. Hes also an acting judge, so he knows his stuff.
No attendance policy, easy straightforward tests and no other assignments! You will love his class!
If you get a chance to take him, definitely do! He is a wonderful teacher, super cool, and really chill. I would take him again in a heartbeat.
One of the best professor's that I've had, and I've had more than my fair share. I'd vote for him for president.
Great Professor! Loved taking the class. He definitely involves the class and GIVES us the class notes, so all you have to do is listen and study.
he's cool and easy.three tests.an extra credit essay that makes it hard not to get an A.
Great Professor! Wonderful sense of humor.
Great guy, some assignments are harder than others. Assignments due every week, no tests or quizes. Final is up to 1/8 to 1/2 of your final grade. If you make an A on all of your assignments you should have no problem making an A in the class. Class is not mandatory and not really as helpful as it should be. Easy class and awesome teacher though!
No attendance policy. All the notes are online and the notes are derived from his lectures. I went to the first to classes and the final and got an A this class is easy as hell.
Great Professor!! A good sense of humor and helped out a lot!!
Great class!! I enjoyed his teaching a lot. He is not biased and tries to give you all sides of the issues. I would happily take this class again. There is a study guide and the tests are hard, but if you study and come to class you will do fine!
awesome fun makes govt interesting
Hard Tests if you dont pay attention. shows a lot of videos and makes American Gov't interesting with his witty remarks
Very very nice guy, replies to emails right away and is willing to answer questions. you gotta study the whole outline, understand it and update it in class to ace the tests(don't study key terms only)Also there are couple of ways of earning extra credit. 2 tests only & the final isnt comprehensive. Each test covers 7 chap, I recommend him :)
If you fail his POLY SCI 1101 class you are retarded or you tried to fail. He gives you a curve and puts all the notes online. You just have to print them out and study them.
Overall a decent professor.
Great Professor, I was never into politics and basically dont care for it at all. However, he made it very exciting and very clear. He uses power point with his lectures. I do find the exams a little diffcult but I know its because I have a tough time understanding politics in general. I highly recommend Professor Chesbro. I did get a B for the

I love politics. Prof Chesbro didn't disappoint. He gives great lectures. Show up for class pay attention to the lecture notes he posts on vista and you're set. I would definitely take another class from him.
Posts powerpoint outline online. I print it out and take extra notes that help me understand the material. I had the book for backup incase I missed something. Mainly know the key terms at the end of each chapter and you should get at least solid B on all the tests. Curves tests too. Final grade is average of 3 test LETTER grades.
Very good teacher, if not a little boring, even if you're halfway interested in politics. Study the book and notes he posts and the tests should be easy.
VERY boring lecture. Do NOT take the Friday 3hr class if you're bored easily. Exams are difficult if you aren't interested in politics. Pulled a C, could have done better if it wasn't on a FRIDAY! Wasn't kidding when he said bring a pillow for your pillow!
Judge Chesbro, has been one of my best professors so far. He likes to be cynical, but in a very humorous way. He makes class funny, enjoyable and simple. He is realistic and gets to the point.
Very nice professor who is willing to answer questions and encourages participation. The class is a bit dull, but that could just be me as I have less than no interest in politics. Tests are fairly straight forward, no homework, extra credit available.
Great political science class! he gives you the outlines, i didn't even buy a book. If you know the outline you'll get A's on the tests. He's a good professor also really nice!
The man knows his stuff. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the lectures can get a bit dull. Puts the power points online, so just print them out and take additional notes on the lecture. I didn't buy the book; everything tested on was on the power points. Only three exams for the entire semester. Not a hard class.
I had him for a 3 hour friday class for American Government. He is a great professor, and I would jump at the chance to take with him again. He breaks up the lecture with video clips and stories, and had a small break in the middle of the lecture. The tests were easy if you studied your notes.
Kind of boring guy but he knows his stuff. He eventually grew on me. He is very down to earth for a lawyer & judge. Expectations are crystal clear. I didn't buy the book & got an A. 3 exams & 1 final. He also offers extra credit. All exams are mult. choice & the material is directly from the Powerpoints. Attendance not mandatory.
I took him for Legal Research which is a horribly boring class but incredibly helpful if you plan on going to law school. He assigns a LOT of homework but only makes class meet once a week because of this. He weights the final 10%-50% depending on what would give you the best overall grade in the class. GREAT Teacher! Very Knowledgeable. Take him
Bring your recorder. The lecture notes won't make sense without it.Do the online study guides about 20% of ques come from these. Also do the online quiz for each chapter.Three test 6 chaps each.3-4 chances for extra credit. This is a difficult class for most people so do the extra credit, particpate in class, sit in the first 2 rows & you'll have an A
He tries his hardest to make the lectures not boring. Test are 90 questions. 3 test including the final. Offers an extra credit paper that can lift you up 2 letter grades. Provides an outline, but i suggest attending class and writing extra information. He also provides a website that has summaries for each chapter in the book. I got an A.
Great professor! You have to do a lot of work in the library, but everything you learn will come in handy if you are going to law school. You don't need the textbook, only need the workbook. I highly recommend him for anyone who is interesting in law school!
Judge Chesbro is a really nice professor. He gives you plenty chances to succeed. He tries to make his lectures as interesting as possible. He offers extra credit to be turned in toward the end of the semester. If I have the opportunity I will defintely take his class again.
Super nice guy. Easy to listen too. Very clear on the topic. Respects his students.
I wish all professors were like Prof Chesbro! His lectures are interesting. As long as you show you are trying(i.e. every now & again say something in class), he will work with you. No meaningless essays, projects, or quizzes. A few tests, that's it.
I hate learing about government, but he made it really easy to understand. The tests are pretty straight forward from the lecture notes and book. Its an easy class if you pay enough attention. He often lets class out early and doesn't take attendance
He absolutely cares about the material he teaches. Relates the material to real political issue in the news. Coherent & likes to have class discussions. Lets you out early often. Skim the chapters, study the lecture notes and you will do well on the exams. Extra credit given as well. Highly recommended!
He's awesome - take him. He doesn't take attendance and there is an outline that you can follow while he teaches. His class is really interesting and he made learning the material interesting. I'd recommend going to class everyday.
very good class, learned a lot. Never bought the book, he posts links to publishers websites and practice tests with definitions and such. I got an A didn't go to every class. Just studied the likes he posts, very nice man loves what he does!

This class is certainly not easy, but this is one of my favorite professors. If you work hard, go to class and study an A is very attainable.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He definitely knows what he's talking about. You have to take notes or read the book if you want to do well in his class. An A is definitely attainable. I learned so much from this class, I definitely recommend taking him.
He is very laid back. His lectures were boring at times. But he is a fair grader. He provides outlines for all the lectures, which are helpful. Overall, I would recommend taking him.
I never went to class and got an A.
Professor Chesbro was overall a good professor. I never once found myself struggling with the material due to lack of clarity in the way that he taught. While I didn't find myself asking for help outside of class all that often, I found him to be rather open to the idea of helping his students whenever possible.
I was very uninterested in this class before taking it, especially since it was at 8am on a friday. I enjoyed this class more than i thought I would and recommend taking him! He keeps things interesting and engaging
I would definitely recommend him. He is pretty engaging, which helps people like me with little interest in the subject. He uses power points that he lectures on, pretty straightforward. If you aren't completely sure on a subject, the book fills in the few gaps.
I felt a little out of place as a history education major, but with the help of studying and a legal dictionary I got an A on the first test. 10 page term paper on a case of your choice. Not a hard grader from what I've seen. Pretty easy if you put in some effort.
Great teacher! I've taken 2 of his classes and made an A in both! 4 grades in total. Do the readings and know the material before class. Super nice man who doesn't give shove his point of view in your face. Cornell U's legal website comes in handy and get the books!
I absolutely loved Judge Chesbro's class. I am a Poli-Sci- Legal Studies major. This class was interesting, informative, and fun. You get to choose and Supreme Court case in the last 50 years for your paper. He is great at being very neutral on the more controversial topics discussed. He makes it very clear from the beginning what you need to know
My favorite professor! I took his 1100 class and got an A in there too. Provides outlines which are helpful. Doesn't just give his point of view and is open to discussion. Buy the textbooks, participate, do his assignments and do the work= A. Highly recommend!
Even though it's a Gen Ed class, American Gov't with Judge Chesbro is not bad. I actually enjoyed his lectures (he has a smooth voice, so try not to fall asleep) and his powerpoints sometimes had videos to switch up the lecture. Everything is posted online in case you miss a class. Tests are straightforward. Study, and you'll make an A! Take him!
He reads off the powerpoints verbatim so if you take the notes at home and study them, you'll definitely be prepared for exams. He also puts all his powerpoints online the VERY first day of school.
Professor Chesbro is a very educated man. Students can tell he knows what he is talking about. His lectures are very informative, but sometimes they can be confusing. Read the chapters if you have time. They help to bring his lectures together. There are 3 tests and then a final. If you aren't a good test taker, really take the time to study.
The class is self-explanatory: research. He gives you the assignments ahead of time so don't wait until last minute to do them or you will be very stressed. You learn through the research. Gives quizzes over class lectures so going to class helps. Library assignments are your grades. If you don't want to spend a lot of time in the, don't take.
He is very understanding of students having outside lives so he does not take attendance. Show or no show he lectures with power points and they are online through D2L still go b/c of test dates. There are 4 tests, each scored out of 100, if you study the power points and you basically pass. You really don't have to buy the textbook.
I rarely went to class and averaged B's on all of the tests. You only have four tests and as long as you read the textbook outline (on d2l) and his powerpoint you'll be fine. Extra credit available all throughout the year. Super nice guy and I actually learned a lot when I went to class. Everything is on D2l & you don't really need the textbook.
Soft Spoken that makes you want to sleep. He only makes announcements in class. You do not have to attend class, but just make sure you go when its near your case date or he will get annoyed and grade harshly. Read the powerpoints and the last book Whose Monet.. you don't need to read the Constitution book.
He is a spot on professor. Gives structured lectures, clear guidelines, communicates promptly, and follows his syllabus/grading criteria. Knowledgeable and well versed in law, but also pretty laid back. 2 exams, 1 term paper, and you have to cover 3-4 SCOTUS cases which are easy if you just show up.
Two tests and 3 case briefs (which were really easy) and 10pg. term paper. He is a judge and retired attorney so he knows his stuff. Makes the class interesting by throwing real life examples. You'll not regret taking him.
Easy class however there are only 3 test. He offers some extra credit in case you did not do well on one of those test.
I truly enjoyed Charles Chesbro as a professor. He is a judge, so he really knows his stuff, and makes it relatable and easy to understand. His tests are easy if you pay attention in class and study the power points he posts online. You are required to brief a few cases which are easy if you read about them. I highly recommend taking this professor
Chesbro is a great professor. He is witty, fair, & genuinely cares about his classes. There are 4 tests and he offers many opportunities for extra credit. I studied only the class slides (which are posted online) and have gotten a B on every test. I suggest attending class because he typically has other media to help learn the material. Take him!
I am a first semester freshman at KSU and was absolutely terrified of taking American Government because of all of the negative things I had heard. However, Mr. Chesbro is an amazing teacher and makes the class easy to understand and easy to pass. Only 3 tests and a final. Gives extra credit. Study PowerPoints and its an easy A.
Chesbro is awesome. Extremely funny and makes lecture interesting. Encourages debate among students which is fun. Posts very clear powerpoints and the tests are straight from the powerpoints. He is willing to go over anything that students do not understand before the test. Would take again!
Easy class, lectures are pretty boring and super biased (gets old really fast) but they aren't mandatory. He posts all the powerpoints and as long as you look over them you'll do fine on the tests.
He is probably the worst grading professor I've ever had. He hands back graded papers and homework, but does not put them in online gradebooks so you will go into the final without the slightest idea of what your grade is. He constantly changes the weights of assignments, and while it may be in your favor, it's frustrating to never know grades.
I loved Professor Chesbro!! This class is a lot of work, prepare to spend a lot of time on homework assignments, but he is an easy grader for homework if you put in the work. Quizzes were difficult but he will work with you. Grading criteria is unclear only because he will work with you to give you the best possible grade. I would take again
Chesbro likes class interaction and discussion. There are 4 test and no cumalative final. He offers a bunch of extra credit, I did none of it and just got an A on all 4 test. Just review text outline to study for test.
Gives extra credit opportunities, but won't bump your grade unless you take ALL of them. Most of the tests were fine, and the final is just another test, but it it SOOOOOO much harder.
His class is fairly easy. There are only four tests, and if you read through your notes and study the "terms to know" you will do fine.
Hes a very sarcastic man. Hes very serious and will tell you his beliefs and how he feels. He wont try to make you feel that way. Hes not a hard grader. All the tests are multiple choice and if you read the power points and terms youll be good. Class is not mandatory just make sure you watch the syllabus to see when test. Gives extra credit.
Judge Chesbro is one of the best professors ive ever had. His classes are so easy, and while his homework seems like a lot, it's also really easy and really interesting. The quizzes are a little more difficult, but if everyone in the class does poorly he makes it extra credit instead. He's really caring and understanding.
His class is very easy. You don't have to go to class because he reads straight from the PowerPoints that he puts on D2L. Just study the "Terms to Know" at the end of each powerpoint and you'll be fine. Test are easy and straightforward.
Professor Chesbro is so great. I sat in the front row to make sure I was able to pay attention without meds this semester and somehow he managed to keep me interested the whole time. He gives you exactly what you need to know for his tests, he is very clear on his expectations with the extra credit assignment, and he posts all his powerpoint online
Easy class. The tests are from the powerpoints that he uses during lecture, so you don't even have to show up. Gives a couple of extra credit opportunities that are worth a lot. Knows his stuff and gives good additional information during lectures, which makes them more interesting.
It says 'skip class you won't pass,' it's true in this case. The power points do not do justice for the exams, he gives a lot more information in he lectures. I would recommend attending his classes. The information is a little mundane, but if people participate in the lecture then it becomes exciting. Buy the book.
All powerpoints are posted online. I went to every class and it was nothing special. The down side was that I made an A on every test this semester and a B on the final and it dropped my grade to a B. Final was much harder than all other tests so be prepared.
Only thing we do is read a power point and take tests and only grades tests. If you like social studies go ahead but if not , take another professor where they put more grades in to balance your test.
Professor Chesbro is a good professor. He's a bit lecture heavy and you're graded on very few things (only 4 tests including the final), but he gives you most everything you need. There is extra credit, but if you ay extra attention to the "key words" at the end of the powerpoint skim the book you'll be fine. Overall, a solid choice.
No HW, attendance check and quiz. Just 4 tests without any drop. so each test weights 25% of your final grade. there are some extra credit assignments but u don't have to do that. No extra points on a test but sometimes there are free questions (just answer A). u need to read PPT and look up quizlet for vocab. easy class but should study hard for A
Really awesome professor that knows his stuff. He makes Politics really interesting, and he can really help you sort through the mess that goes on in Washington before elections. Super interesting and funny guy. Lectures are daily but very interesting. Plenty of extra credit if you need it. 10/10 would recommend.
He was a very good teacher and if you just looked at his powerpoints, you could easily do well on the tests. I was in the honors section, and it was still pretty easy. He is open to debate in class and even encourages it. He also likes to show funny videos that relate to the lecture every day.
Can't tell you about his lectures because I never went. I literally studied the powerpoints the morning of and would make a A. He gives 5 extra credit opportunities, and you can do all of them if you want. No one ever goes to class and test are straight from the powerpoints. Take him if you want a easy A.
Never went to class and made it out with a decent grade. Naturally the class covers a lot of material so reading the textbook and going to lecture is ideal. 4 exams and the final is all you are graded on. offers extra credit. Very boring class but informative.
Everything that was on his power points were on the test. Basically lectures all class long, and attendance was not mandatory so many people never showed up until it was test time. Only four tests the entire semester; he offers plenty of extra credit, and does not curve grades at the end. Overall a very nice man.
DO NOT TAKE PROFESSOR CHESBRO. He is the most boring professor ever. Going to class is pointless because he reads straight from his powerpoints which are online anyways. Your whole grade in the class is based off of four tests. The first three are around 60 questions, but the last one is 100 and much harder. AVOID THIS PROFESSOR IF YOU CAN.
I went to 5 days of class all semester. The 4 test days and the very first day of class. All his PowerPoints are online and that's exactly what his tests are on. Make flashcards over the key terms from the PowerPoints and you are set. The only bad thing is the grades for this class. The only grades are the 4 unit tests, so you can't slip up on one.
Great guy, makes his lectures interesting and encourages class participation, isn't afraid to give his opinion. He posts his powerpoints but they don't include all the info in his lectures that will be on the tests, so you need to take notes in class. Usually has a 10 page extra credit paper but it was mandatory for the honors class I took.
I didn't get to know professor Chesbro, since there is like 200 people in the class. Although, he is a good professor. There are four tests and each are worth 25% of your grade and the final is the fourth test. I literally got high C's on all the tests and with the extra credit opportunity I was able to make a B in the class. 10/10.
All he grades you on are the four tests throughout the class. If you have any questions, no matter how stupid they are, he will answer them. The class before the test it is a free for all, he will answer any question given. He does a lot of extra credit. Tests are difficult so make sure to look over your notes. Attendance is helpful for your notes.
He is one of those professors that reads DIRECTLY off the powerpoint. No more no less. Very very very very boring. If thats not how you learn do NOT take his class ... this was the first class i have ever gotten a C in.
Charles is an interesting guy. His class is boring as one might assume but he makes it easy. 4 tests that you can get at the very least an easy B on if you barely pay attention. The work is not hard and he's a pretty funny guy. - Take reviews with a grain of salt, you never know the person leaving a review. Good or Bad most of them don't mean much
Attendance is not mandatory, but his tests are based on vocabulary from the chapter and what he says in class. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Boring and very opinionated, but open to help with your questions. 4 tests and no other assignments. The textbook is useful for vocabulary, but not needed to read. All tests are multiple-choice.
Prof Chesbro was super nice and a great teacher He really likes when you speak up and voice opinions but you don't have to. Respectful of everyone. You have 4 tests, a final, and one project, and he gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit but is strict about deadlines.
Though his grades are based solely on test, the information is given to you if you study and pay attention. Take advantage of any extra credit opportunities given. Dr. Chesbro works with students well.
He is a very respectable professor who will share his beliefs throughout lectures. He assigns 4 tests and provides extensive extra credit, which will help your grade dramatically. If you study and come to class, tests are simple. He is easy to talk to and contact outside if class if you have any questions. Great class!
Professor Chesbro is a great teacher! He answers any questions you have. He has 4 tests which are all multiple choice. There are a few tricky questions, but as long as you study his powerpoints you should do fine. He gives a bunch of extra credit that can boost your grade up. Coming to class isnt mandatory, but it helps in understanding concepts.
This class was super easy. Professor Chesbro makes it super straightforward and gives you all the information you need to succeed. The tests are the exact material in the notes. Just show up and study the lecture notes and you will definitely pass. He offers extra credit that is easy. He is a good choice, and I would take him again.
If you do not like lecture, this class is not for you. No quizzes or homework, only 4 exams including final. The tests were pretty long, a good 60 questions each, but if you listen during the lectures and take notes, you will be sure to succeed.
Hes not a bad teacher if you get him. He didnt have any work, just 4 test, his class is easy as long as you read and make notes.
I took this course as an honors class (the only thing I had to do that was extra was write a paper) and enjoyed it. All you really have to do is study the powerpoints Professor Chesbro posts. He uploads lectures for each chapter too and he seems like a really nice man. Dont buy the textbook!
He posted lectures throughout the semester and they were available at any time. The class consisted of four tests, with the last test being the final exam (grade-wise but not cumulative). Those four tests were the only grades given. Extra credit was also available. There were many extra credit assignments to choose from. Not a very stressful class.
There are 4 tests, the 4th one being the final exam (all non-cumulative). You will get your grade back immediately upon taking each one. Around 70 questions per exam with 90 minutes to take it. These tests are the only grades in the grade book.
Note: Class taken fall 2020. Everyone, including professors have been affected by this. I took Chuck the GOAT this last fall. Asynchronous class, lecture heavy, 4 tests, and some bonus credit. He's very sarcastic and gives his opinion but is very neutral on tough issues. Online, boring, but I feel in person he'd be a fun class.
Professor Chesbro is AMAZING!! He has very clear guidelines and if you follow those this class is a breeze. There are 4 tests based on lectures he posts throughout the semester. Lectures are pretty interesting and he highlights what will be on the test in those. There is extra credit if you need it. Has review sessions before tests. Great Class!!
I took this class as an Honors class, so there was one 10-page paper about a Supreme Court case. You can tell that Prof Chesbro really knows his stuff and cares about his class. All lectures were pre-recorded and its clear he put in a lot of effort to make them interesting (lots of videos!) He gives lots of stories pertaining to the material.
If you can breathe you can pass this class. His tests are super easy and the material he goes over covers what is on the test. He posts the powerpoints online, so if you miss class you can read the content you missed that day. He goes into more detail in person, so I'd recommend going if you can. Lots of extra credit and chill guy.
I learned so much in this course. Don't need textbook book but NEED assignment book. Cost to set up WESTLAW. He doesn't put grades in D2L. His lecture PowerPoints are basically guided notes for him so just be ready to listen to him. You'll do fine! Take this course if you want to learn in depth about law.
The best professor ever.
Great guy, funny lectures, good videos. I hate government so I took this class with my bf and cheated off him the entire time that's the only reason I got an A. I recommend him to those who enjoy government and like listening to lectures. 4 tests are the only grades in the whole class unless you fo EC which he does offer.
Professor Chesbro is by far my favorite professor, he is clear, funny, and he is the just the best when it comes to lectures. Four test added up and divided by four is your final grade, you can easily get an A if you apply yourself. All the PowerPoints are on D2L, which means attendance isnt mandatory but recommended.
Honestly if you want an easy A and do not want to go to class this your guy. Chesbro simply does not care if you go or not. The only real requirement for this class is to go in for the test which there is only 4 of. You can study night before and still get a solid grade. 10/10 recommend.
Professor Chesbro is not for people who need a lot of grades to pass. He only gives out 4 tests, but there is a lot of extra credit opportunities. One of the papers for extra credit can lift you from a c to an A. He is an amazing teacher and his lectures are informative and interesting.
Pretty typical online class, just with no assignments and graded only on tests. If you struggle with political science/government I would not recommend taking this class only because you have to know a lot for the tests. I never had to interact with him the whole semester but he seems to know what he's talking about and gave lots of extra credit.
Chesbro is one of the best professors to take for this gen-ed. He only grades 4 exams, which are scantrons you need to provide. He allows for plenty of extra credit, and he curves your test grades. From the bat, I felt I was learning something in his class, and I really only needed to put in enough effort to do well on the exams. Take him(:
He's a good professor, but if you are not a good test taker, do not take his class. Your grade is literally four tests. He gives a lot of extra credit which can seriously help your grade if you're struggling or just want a higher grade. All of the content was on d2l, so you don't have to show up, but I really recommend because he adds on in class.
Professor Chesbro is a great professor who is passionate about the subject he teaches. The only grades are four tests including the final, but he gives out chances for extra credit at the beginning of the semester. His class is very lecture heavy, but you can find the information he discusses on D2L afterwards. Overall, a great class if you study.
He only grades you on four tests, so if you don't do well you basically fail. I would not recommend to anyone who isn't good at studying or taking tests. He does offer some extra credit, but it seems kind of obscure.
I was in honors so I dont know how his normal government class was but I thoroughly enjoyed how he spoke and he makes his PowerPoints easy to understand and go over when studying is needed. I got all high B's on my tests and did all the extra credit, which I enjoyed, and ended with a high A. There are only tests so you have to study a bit.
Prof Chesbro had decently entertaining lectures and the tests were fairly straightforward. His powerpoints coincide with the textbook, but aren't very detailed so taking notes is a must. There is extra credit available.
This man somehow made government easy and interesting. His class is not hard at all if your willing to put in a little effort. Tests are straight from the PowerPoints, and he lists all of the terms you need to know at the end of each chapter PowerPoint. He Only gives four tests and some extra credit, but if you know the terms you will be fine!
Good teacher! Lectures can be a little dull, but it beats constant assignments. Be sure to study because you won't have many grades in that class, so each one counts.
took notes each class from powerpoints. tests were online and not super hard. let us out of class early every time. only 4 tests but offers extra credit
His lectures aren't horrible to listen through, however the entire course is graded on 4 tests and one or two extra credit assignments, so if you bomb the tests by either not coming or learning the material, you will not pass.
He was a cool professor. Very well educated and approachable. You have to read the textbooks to do well on the tests though, his PowerPoint lectures are just chapter summaries. If you do the reading and show up to class you'll be alright. Curved all tests. The extra credit everyone is talking about isn't super easy but it's very doable.
His lectures were very fun, and I always tried my best to attend his classes, but I wish he would give some practice questions or something for his tests, because I really didn't know how to study for his tests. He's got 4 tests and they all add up to one final grade. Great guy. I would take his class again.
Is a great professor. Class is not mandatory and tests are very fair.
He is very well educated and passionate about what he teaches. The whole class grade is based on only four exams, so studying and going to class is important. Lots of vocabulary to remember for each test, which are online and use lockdown browser. Extra credit opportunities were offered and helped me a lot.
If you have to take this professor run, he's awful only grades off of four test. His extra credit is absolutely ridiculous about a 10 page paper for such a small amount of points. His test are nothing like his lectures he will give you key topics/words to study and less than half of them end up on the test. Also his lectures are not interactive.
A very straightforward guy. The grading criteria only consist of 4 exams so you either know the content or you don't. Class was in person but tests were at home with the lockdown browser. Although his lectures were engaging, I stopped going to class a couple of weeks into the semester and managed an A. Just make sure you know all of the material.
This class was fairly easy. I did not try my hardest and passed with a B. Grades consist of four test which was inconvenient, but he offered lots of extra credit and curved test grades. Test are online and attendance isn't mandatory.
Great professor, would definitely take again
An easy class if you are a good test taker. The only grades are 4 exam grades. I rarely attended class and got an A because I did well on those tests so attendance is not mandatory.
I went to maybe 4 lectures, never paid attention, and never looked at the powerpoints and passed with a B. Overall not a bad class and would probably be an easy A if you actually put in some effort.
Professor Chesboro was a very calm and laidback professor. During class, we just went over a powerpoint. He is an openminded and knowledgable professor. Your grade is made up of four tests, and that's it (there's not a final exam). As long as you look over the key terms that are posted at the end of each powerpoint you should get a good grade.
Professor Chesbro is a chill professor. He lectures from PPT and then we have mini-discussions in class. He is super friendly and considerate. I took him for Honors 1101 and it was a small class. His test and super easy, reviewing the slides is enough to get an A. We had a 10-page extra-credit assignment, which wasn't too bad. Take him!
Good lectures that follow Power Point! He adds information as he talks that helps to solidify the info. Either read the textbook or attend the SI sessions because he teaches fast and there is a plentitude of information. 4 tests, no HW, lots of extra credit. My only peeve with him was his painful far left ramblings. They occurred several times.
The subject is boring, but he gives good lectures that keep you engaged. I wouldn't say this class was hard, its just that since he only offers 4 tests and a small amount of extra credit there is not a lot of room for mistake. The PowerPoints are the best way to study, he lists the terms you need to know. The final was non cumulative but very hard.
Good teacher, lectures can be a little boring but solid overall. You should know the only grades in the class are the four tests he gives, however extra credit is available throughout the semester. Come to class and take notes and you'll get a solid grade.
Three tests, one final. Come to class or not, he doesn't care. All tests can be studied for by resources posted. Going to class makes it very easy to do well
He gives interesting lectures that keep you engaged and uses clear PowerPoints. Grade is based on four tests but may drop one. Offers several extra credit opportunities but they involve research. There is no homework but get ready ready to read weekly because there is a total of 16 chapters. He is open to questions and enjoys student participation.
You only have 4 tests based on the PowerPoint he lectures on and puts on D2l. I felt it was easy since I went to class and studied the PowerPoints, but other students didn't. Maybe I was in a dumb class but I got A's on the tests and there would be a 7-point curve.
He was okay. Personally, if I had to redo the class I would take it online. Don't get me wrong, he's a good professor, but he only graded you by tests, and I was not a fan. Otherwise, his lectures are pretty interesting.
It is very easy to pass the class by just reviewing the PowerPoints he posts (not all at once obviously). He offers extra credit through some assignments near the end of the course. He claimed to not have a political bias when teaching/hiding it well, although to me, it was very apparent. He makes the course very easy; would take it again!
I came into this class expecting him to be great based on his other reviews. While he is really nice and very respectful, his lectures are very boring. He also only gives four tests and no assignments. While there is extra credit, it is very long and tedious work. I can't really say I learned anything in this class, but I was pretty much an easy A.
Professor Chesbro only grades off of four tests, but he offers a lot of extra credit, and he curved a couple of the exams. Sometimes the lectures were a bit boring, but he would try to break them up with videos.
Easy class! As long as you read the textbook, tests will be easy, though they are monitored. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you do go to class in a lecture hall, sit up close cause he's very quiet. 4 exams, including final but not cumulative. He also offers a bunch of extra credit!
His class is very lecture-heavy, and all of your grades other than extra credit are the four tests. However, there is no busy work.
good professor although he is a little quiet. attendance isn't mandatory and he posts all of his content on d2l. tests are monitored on lockdown browser but are straight forward. he offers extra credit and grade is based off of 4 tests, no other outside work. lectures are a little boring but would overall recommend professor Chesbro.
While he's a very good Professor in terms of executing his lectures, you will need to have a wider understanding of the content to pass his 4 tests. He does not provide a study guide. Only resources are his lectures (powerpoints) and a textbook. But overall, he's very nice!
I really enjoyed his class! He was very nice, encouraged asking questions, and had extra credit opportunities. No assignments, only 4 tests spread across the semester. Each class had a lecture with notes and videos but they were posted online too. Make sure to read the textbook and study for tests and you'll be good! I highly recommend!
You are only graded by 4 tests that have no study guide and are taken on lock down browser so if this is a class you think youd struggle with, avoid this professor.
Honestly the professor was okay but he only taught from the Powerpoints and never explained properly. There is no study guide, only a few main definitions on each PowerPoint about what's going to be the on test. attendance isn't mandatory. No assignments, only 4 tests with lockdown browser cam. I strong disliked this class.Extra credit is hard.
Good teacher. There's a book, i didn't use it at all. but he lectures through powerpoints and after a few chapters of content there's a test. only 4 tests and extra credit is offered.
He was incredibly boring. This class was all lectures and he has a very monotone voice. The content itself and the tests weren't that bad it was just hard to follow at times because it was only powerpoints.
As someone who is not a good test taker, I would not recommend him. There are only 4 tests, all lockdown browser. I would study for 2 weeks straight, even created my own study guide based off what he said to pay attention to and still ended up failing the test. extra credit is also very hard.
Not a super interesting professor when it comes to his lecturing, but his tests are relatively straight forward as long as you follow the power points. He is sometimes humorous.
The lectures are engaging, and Professor Chesbro encourages questions. While the 4 tests can be challenging, the available extra credit opportunities and Unstuckstudy help make the course manageable.
During the course there is only 6 things for a grade. 4 exams and 2 extra credit papers. The extra credit is a lot of work for only a few extra points. He doesn't give homework, which makes it hard to understand the exams. The textbook readings doesn't help to prepare for exams.
Txtbook not used in class, but helpful. Grade based on 4 tests. Tests are 90% PowerPoint based and 10% lecture based. No study guides, but key terms provided. Tests are online lockdown with camera. No in class activities, just lectures. Attendance not mandatory, but I would recommend it to help on the test. Nice professor, extra credit available
You literally only get 4 tests in this class with lockdown browser + webcam. There are no homework assignments to help boost your grade if you do terrible on his tests/help enhance your knowledge of the material. There's extra credit, but it's not that helpful in improving your grade imo. If you're not a good test taker, this class isn't for you!
this class is overall pretty difficult. the only grades are 4 tests one of which is the final and they are 65+ questions each. even with showing up to class and studying I was still struggling. wouldn't recommend it if you're a bad test taker. all tests are online with lockdown and webcam as well.
Professor Chesbro is a great professor but in his lectures some political bias seeps through. Your grade is determined only by 4 tests with lockdown browser averaged together. His powerpoints are posted and he holds review sessions in class before every test. There is a textbook but its not used and attendance is not mandatory.
Hes a pretty good proffesor, all the classes are lectures. Theres only 4 grades for the entire class (4 tests) with lockdown browser and webcam so you need to actually show up to class and study to get a good grade.
He is such a sweet old man :(( he teaches straight from the powerpoints but he adds his own commentary here and there and makes little jokes. i loved him and you can tell he really knows what he's talking about, which i appreciate. he is hard of hearing, so you have to speak up. the textbook is basically whatever is on the powerpoints !
This professor is great. he does traditional style lectures, absolutely no homework. just 4 exams all year. theyre all online with lockdown browser iykyk. easy A.
nice guy, 4 tests and some extra credit, tests are around 60 questions, lockdown browser, me personally as a bad tester its not worth it. so if you suck at tests dont even think of taking this class at all, save ur time and money. overall nice class, you learn alot but when it comes to tests its a downfall.
VERY test heavy, you're only getting 4 grades which are the tests & final. Very good professor, but if you struggle with test-taking and application based questions, this may not be the best class for you. There is extra credit but it's up to you whether it's worth doing or not.
The lectures were very boring, all he did was read off of the slides. I felt like he knew what he was talking about for the most part. But I did not drive 40+ minutes and 5am to have him read off slides. However, there was a extra credit. And, I thought he was a nice older man. :(
