Mr. Cox is an Excellent Professor, not only because he's great teaching but also, dedicated to his job. I was in his class when his only son passed away, he kept teaching our class, for him it didn't matter how much pain he felt at that moment, the most important for him was to Teach. HE'S THE BEST

This guy is a guru at story telling. Really gets into it, knows his stuff very well. Just dont take him in the summer to much crap to remember although he does let you have 1 page full of notes to help out.

He is an amazing teacher! You don't need a book, just make sure to take good notes and pay attention (which isn't hard to do because he's a great story teller.)

Very good teacher. Speaks excellent and even though he lectures all his classes, you never get bored (unless you dislike history and maybe not even then. Let's you take one page of notes for his tests. Believe me if you study you will pass.

I have to say he wasa great professor, he didn't use the book..acutally he told us not to buy it. He lectured off the top of his head but it was fun and accurate. He only does a midtern and a final and you can bring in a cheat sheet (1pg worth) to the test. I hate history with a passion and I learned so much and it was interesting.

This is the best teacher i ever had... if you didnt like history before you will like it after taking him. tests are multiple choice and a few open answer, but you can have a page of notes. take notes during class cause you have to turn that in at the end of the semester. best teacher at MDC. you wont regret taking his class!! <3

Need I say more? Cox is a great professor. To date, the best class(es) I've taken. Lots of note taking, although he most of the time says... “Don’t write; this is for free.” What a character, funny guy too. Attend class, and let this storyteller bedazzle you.

The reviews are true, he is a good teacher His lecture are like having to sit through great war films. Huge amount of note-taking, though, but he does tell you what and what not to write. Has some funny jokes every now and then too. You will have a better appreciation of history after just a few classes. HIGHLY recommended.

Probably one of the best teachers I have ever had. He defintely knows the subject material, and will even discuss some lesser known topics that people have trouble on more clearly. PLus, he lets you use notes on a test. He is probably the ebst teacher you could have for history.

Im almost done with school and in all 4 years, he has been my favorit. I usually hate history, but I actually took 2 of them just because I wanted to take another class with him. It feels like your dad or grandfather telling you bed time stories. He has a passion for what he teaches. A wonderful guy all around.

His class is farely simple, but instead of making us write 2000 words for course, he decided it would be better at 16,000 words for the 6 week course! i disagreed and tried to tell him. he basicly said get out. *******! my recommendation, drop this class.

Dr. Cox is the Greatest Teacher I have ever come across, He is clear helpful and genuine, he allows you to turn in your notes instead of writing any papers, he then adds the notes grade to your final exam for extra credit he even allows a sheet of notes on all exams

Dr. Cox is the BEST professor you will ever take. I was those type of lazy students in high school, however this professor is extremely intellectual with overall history. This class is for student who wish to ever go to a decent school. You are not catered for. You come to class, take notes, read and study and you get an A. I got an A and I was not the only one but everyone who did damn well earned it. One of my favorite professor of all time. I wish I will be half as cool as he is when I am his age.

He is a gentleman and a scholar! I never had a professor who had a mastery of words when discussing a certain topic. He draws you in with imagry and allows your imagination to teach, along with unique Southern tone and knowledge.

This is by far the best teacher that I have ever had. There is no homework and only he only gives out 2 tests. If you take good notes, you should do fine on his exams. He lectures the whole semester but he tells history like a story. This guy knows his stuff! I definately recommend him!!

This is his last year here, so take him, especially if do not like history. The book is not required, I put that attendance is mandatory because you need to hear his lectures

I was never a big fan of history, as a matter of fact, I hated history. After taking this class, however, I saw history as much more than just boring useless facts, it became an actual interesting story. This man teaches with such passion for this subject that you can't help, but love every minute of it. Take him. He's great!

As a child, I loved to hear bed time stories. With Dr. Cox, you never want the bed time story to end. you always want to know what happens next. He teaches with passion.

Anyone who has something bad to say about him does not know how to listen. If you are the kind of person who learns by reading the text book, not through lectures, do not take him you will most likely fail. His class was pretty easy, and he had very intresting stories. His exams were open notes, and straight from his lecture.

I took a world history class in my second semester of college. At first we had another professor, but she was fired, and then he taught the class. The difference was amazing. This is one class you will remember for the rest of your life. EXPECT TO LEARN SOMETHING, if you are not willing to learn, don't even bother. He is GREAT

Wow. I learned a lot in this class. Prof. Cox is a wonderful speaker and will keep you very interested. I took the Summer A class. For 3.5 hours twice a week I was wide awake the whole time. Do not miss a class. As long as you take detailed notes and listen carefully you'll be fine. Tests based mostly on notes,still buy the book. Not a hard class.

Great speaker...definately helped when it came to tests (2-midterm & end of term test but u have an optional final in case u need to boost ur grade). He also gives extra points 4 note taking.I say take in summer cause it means less notes and details so i fit all my info on the front page of the paper he let us use for the test. Got an A!

Attendance isnt mandatory but i put it is cause you need to go to every class and get the notes or at least get it from someone or his assistant Flynn will burn you a cd of Cox's speeches if u ask. My class got lucky because he let his final be a take home test because he couldnt finish all he wanted to say in summer A(ran out of time). Got 100%!

He is all aboul lecturing. if you can take GOOD NOTES YOU WILL PASS. HE also has some guy who comes to class and helpd you with questions. If you miss a lecture he will give it to you in a cd format so you can listen to it. COX is nice and straight to the point. I got an 85 in his class (summer term).

Professor Cox is a very interesting teacher. He explains things like if he was telling you a story..how the person looked like, things that they went through, in other words, it's INTERESTING. Mr. Cox is a great professor. I have been taking him since I started college. I have taken every history course I need with him. It is definitely story telling and you must be focused when your attending class. You take lots of notes...but you learn! BEST PROFESSOR EVER! NO ONE IN THAT CLASS DAREd TO FALL ASLEEP! HE IS JUST THAT GOOD!!! I mean we are talking about a history class and no one falls asleeps? That has to ring a bell in your mind! THE GUY IS GREEEEAAAAT! AND NO BOoK NEEDED!!!

Amazing professor. A pity he is retiring and this will be his last semester. If you can take any of his classes. I got an easy A and was witness of a first-class teaching.

Great teacher! Has very interesting lectures, and is very easy to understand. He is pretty funny and very much down to earth. If you take good notes and attend class you should have no problem passing the class. He even gives a curve on the tests. h

An extremely good teacher. No book required, I passed by just taking notes from his lectures. The 2 tests I took were extremely easy; he allowed our class to use one page (front and back) on test days. He even curves the tests. His lectures are interesting and narrated (his tone of voice changes appropriately, based on the scenario).

Smart, Interesting, Sweet, Honest, Straight to the point, & Fair. **study for exams bc he is a bit tricky. No book required. if you are not a good note taker don't take this class.

GREAT PROFESSOR! I recommend him to anyone! Even if history isn't your forte he makes the class interesting, he is funny and you learn a lot! Attendance isn't required (but recommended) , No book needed, & No homework! He teaches solely on his lectures so take notes, & tells you whats going to be on exam - 2 exams Midterm & Final Great Prof!!

best teacher i have ever had.i'm not the best note taker and he is all lectures, i also had no intrest in the course, but he mad this class so intresting that i would look forward to going to class and gettig to know what he would talk about that day. no book, allows recording of lectures. don't miss class cause exame basses 100% on notes.

AMAZING! The Best professor by far! You learn so much and you do half the work most teachers make you do. I never really studied just skimmed by notes a day before exams because his lectures were so good they stuck with me! I mean he made me memorize even dates without even trying he's just that good. The man is a genius and incredibly sweet!

First college prof i have. its sad to see such a great man leave. Hope that half of the prof i encounter are true teachers as himself. He really cared for students to grasp the true concept through intresting lecturers. required to listen and take notes.

This is exactly the kind of teacher I was hoping to have when I went back to school, and I look forward to his classes every day. I'm constantly learning new and interesting things and, most importantly, it all seems to stick. I'm of a mind to sign up for another class taught by him even if I don't need the credits for my degree. He's that good.

He tells history like a story. Just sits there and talks. No textbook needed. Just take notes on EVERY word he says - except when he says not to write. SO DON'T! 2 tests. Just study everything. You realize that you remember the stories 'cause he told it that way. Very nice, funny guy. Highly recommend him.

Guys, is Dr. Cox still teaching?! This guy is fantastic!!!! I was his student 5 years ago. Read and watch any material he recomends or mentions!!! He should be teaching at Yale or something..

This professor is by far the best professor i've ever had at miami dade. You must pay attention to what he says and take notes he will tell you not to write and when to write stuff down, tests were open notes one sheet front page only on all the tests. Passed with an "A", amazing professor take him!!!

This class changed my life! Charles Cox is the best professor @MDC. I looked forward to the lectures and the class isn't the least bit boring. Note taking is essential if you want to do well on the tests. Honestly, you are lucky if you get to take a class with him.

Amazing professor! Recites history like he's reading a story book (and he doesn't read from anything, all memorized). Took this class summer A and got an A. Make sure to take good notes and the material is interesting so it is easy to study! The best.

Absolutely amazing!You can record his lectures or listen to them online,which is nice in case you missed something. Take notes and do the study guide,but if you paid attention tests shouldn't be too difficult.Such a gentleman and the best storyteller ever.Everyone in my class was paying attention, not 1 person on their phones the entire time.

The best teacher that I ever took. He has the most interesting voice. You won't regret taking him at all. You don't need the book. You just need to pay attention and take some notes. During tests you are allow to bring a piece of paper with all the information you will need for it.

best teacher ever!!!! we he starts talking its like you're watching a movie from how much detail he gives. there have been several time that i ask my self if he has been living since the dawn of man because he speaks about events and people as if he has lived through them and met the people. there will be a lot of notes but its easy and worth it!!!

Advice: Take notes on countries, quotes, people and of course battles and wars. He's a great teacher but you need to take notes, mostly on what I just said because it's two tests and an optional final. He will tell you all about the lives of Bismarck and Napoleon and others but you mainly need to know who they were and what they did to make history

Brilliant professor. He would finish lecture with a cliffhanger so had to come back! Did a lecture on the history of Baseball! Did not lecture on the obvious events (Pearl Harbor)but what happened before & after. I loved it so much, I taped it! lol

This man changed my whole aspect on History. He changed my life for the better. The class was interesting and for being a 10:25AM class i woke everyday dying to go to class He is the most respectful, knowledgeable and caring professor in all of miami dade Take Notes!! but it all story format so you won't forget anything at all Highly Recommended

I have an Oxford University graduate friend who still says that Dr. Cox is the greatest professor he has ever been taught by. I personally experienced this for both WOH classes. Dr. Cox's knowledge is endless, his passion contagious, and his character honorable. He is like the grandfather you have dreamed of. If you take his class, come expecting.

This man is the most honorable man you'll ever meet. By far my favorite and best professor. He really cares about YOU and wants you to do well in the course. Listening to his lectures is like sitting around a fireplace with your grandfather who's telling you his war stories. TAKE HIM! RESPECT HIM!

The Doctor definitely knows his history! He's a classy, charming gentleman in a bow-tie (usually) who is the exact picture of what a professor should look like. The lectures are AWESOME! He tells about people in history as if they were his best friends (right down to their personality) and describes the battles as if he were there. Outstanding.

Great prof. Earned a B in the class. You do not need a book but you need to attend class and take notes or you wont pass his class. His lectures are given in the form of a story which makes it interesting.. also no powerpoints. He gives 2 exams. make sure you write down ALL Quotes and know who said them. Specific events and their dates and people

I took this class three years ago. He really just wants you to know the story of what happened. He tells each story from memory as if it were bedtime story. Beautiful and interesting! Plus he sends you audio notes. You won't regret it! I still remember him dearly.

Professor Cox is without a doubt the greatest professor I've had the privilege of studying under. He really is the grandfather you wish you had. Don't take him if you're looking for an easy A, take him if you actually want to learn history. Take notes as well.
