i took him and i wouldn't even say i know him like i know other professors by one quarter. really hard to please when it comes to essays. he is very tough in essays (content wise) although they must be 2 pages (double spaced). midterm and final is graded by content as opposed 2 grammar. teaches by slides that contain images he thoroughly explains.
Overall his teaching is normal but he speaks too fast.
Lectures are long but overall a fair grader. Tries to spark interest, uses video clips in lectures and is very thorough. If you miss class you're screwed as far as note taking goes, lectures are entirely verbal with explanations of the images on the slides.
I recommend this professor since he seems very passionate about the subject and goes in depth with each lecture. He is a tough grader when it comes to papers but not too bad. His tests are pretty difficult in the multiple choice part but the essay portion is simple if you know what you are talking about. Only 2 assignments the whole quarter.
His lectures are incredibly boring and long. His slideshows are mostly pictures so you really have to pay attention when he talks and write everything down.
Did not like this professor at all. He's extremely rude and makes you feel stupid when you go up to present or if you ask a question. His powerpoints consist of just pictures so you really have to pay attention to write notes.
Lectures were nonmandatory, the only tests were the midterm and final which were essays and noncumulative, and the papers assigned weren't very difficult. Overall, an easy class if you try. Charles is a cool guy and definitely knows what he's lecturing about. Notes are somewhat difficult because his power points don't have a lot of text.
great guy, lectures were long but he gave us fair breaks and a fair grading scale for the final, which wasn't cumulative. He talks fast so I suggest taking notes on a laptop, but he's funny, the notes are all spoken and powerpoints are 100% pictures. I got a B+ and thats WITH a forgotten assignment on turnitin
Dr. Delgadillo is a good professor. Make sure to attend all his classes and study the midterm assigned topics. I was heavy penalized for an assignment but still managed his class Make sure you are decent at writing before taking this course because it will mostly consist of written exams. Individual presentations last for the entire quarter!
Great professor overall. Not very tough at all and doesn't give a ton of work. Only 2 essay assignments during the whole quarter and he will help you with anything you need. You'll also need to to a 2-3 min presentation (it's easy and most people get A's). 2 essay exams but they're also easy and he will give you the topics ahead of time.
The class was pretty interesting and funny at times. There are about 4 essays, a cartoon project, 2 peer reviews, and easy extra credit. You don't need the book unless you don't take notes or pay attention in class. He also doesn't post the lectures online and it's all pictures anyway.
He tries to make the class interesting, and is somtimes successful. Grades consisted of 2 papers, a political cartoon presenting project (very easy), and the midterm and final. Grammer and syntax is important for the papers. Some other students complained that he tried too hard to be funny, but I thought it was sweet.
All of the power points he uses are primarily pictures and he tends to speed trough the lecture which makes it challenging to take notes.
His lectures were really interesting, even tho you have to pay attention b/c his powerpoints are only pics, but thats what makes it interesting is that he talks a lot & its not just words you copy down from a screen. He cracks jokes alot! His tests are easy and he lets u hav a 3x5 notecard each test 2 use & you can get EC each class 4 participating
He talks really fast and his slides are mainly pictures. There are two film analyses (check your grammar), a political cartoon presentation, and key terms after every lecture. DO NOT THINK YOU CAN SKIP THE KEY TERMS. They are easy points and there IS a time window. He will let you skip ONE. You can bring a 3"x5" index card as a cheat sheet.
Since there's no reading, make sure to show up to the lectures and take good notes as they'll be on the exam. His slides are all pictures and he talks really fast. Also do the key terms as they are easy points. Exams were all multiple choice. There are two film analyses and make sure that your grammar is on point for these papers.
He lectures with images, so make sure you stay awake through his lectures so you can get the notes. Attendance non-mandatory but he lectures verbally, so there's no point skipping if you can't find someone to get the notes off of. 1 cartoon presentation which is approx. 3 min: super easy. 2 film analyses: only 1 page double-spaced! 3 exams-MC.
All the information you need for the test/ study guide is given to you during his lectures. His lectures are all pictures, which makes it easy to understand since you dont have to copy off a screen. He allows an index card for the test and gives you extra credit opportunities. He replies to emails very quickly. I highly recommend you take him.
He speaks very fast, but if you show up to class & take good notes you'll get an A in the class. His two papers are only 1 page double-spaced. Two midterms & Finals are super easy, you just have to know the vocabulary. He's very nice & will answer questions in class if you ask him to. If he knows your name & face in a positive light you're set.
He is awesome.
This prof was cool! You only present once, not hard, you just analyze a political cartoon. Class is not mandatory BUT he offers free points every class by having students write a sentence on a key term he chooses. There are 3 films we watch on our own time + questions to answer on it! Make sure to study for exams because points are worth more!
He talks fast in lectures but it makes you pay attention more during the lecture. Really fast course and one easy little cartoon project. No pop quizzes or homework. Just the tests and the three movies to watch and write about
He does talk fast at first then you get used to it its like nothing he's amazing clear organized criteria if you show up to class you'll pass EASY test gives flashcard that gives you more confident going in pretty easy going highly recommend tbh he is willing to work with you try to get better grades. trust me his slides are mostly pictures.
Slides are all pictures and he does not post them, so you have to show up. Lectures fly by and are pretty entertaining, and he's pretty funny at times.
Charles is very knowledgeable about history. He provides a study guide w/ key terms that will show up on the test, so it helps to take notes with that nearby. You only present once on a political cartoon and provides 3 points for being in class (given by writing a key term of his choice for that lecture). He is very good at answering questions!
Professor Delgadillo was very engaging with his lectures. The lectures consist of listening and taking notes. There are powerpoints, but not much on the powerpoints. There are 3 tests, 2 film exams, a cartoon project and a final. The exams are all multiple choice besides the short answer films. He talks really fast but you will get used to it.
He's interesting and at times fairly funny, not afraid to share his views. He lectures by speaking not power point so be ready to write until your hand bleeds. Each lecture gave about 5 questions on a 45 multiple choice test so if you miss get someone to fill you in. Course: US history 1877-present
Does a good job for the most part. His problem is that he begins even handed, but gets toward indoctrination later in the semester. Conservatives, moderates, and liberals beware, take the class for the GE, keep your head down. He is a cool dude, just horribly biased. Easy class, even for stem majors.
He is one of the very few teachers I have had to offer multiple extra credit opportunities. His class is lecture heavy and you have to go otherwise you will not pass, he does not post lectures on blackboard. All the assignments are really simple, he really tries to make the class interesting for his students.
Not a hard class. His lectures are good and interesting and i don't even like history. Just show up to class, take good notes, and its and easy A.
he's a very animated professor and fun to listen to. he cares about his students and will work with you on grades. however, if you don't show up to class your grade will reflect that as tests are lecture based.
Good teacher. Their are 4 exams,3 film exam and Cartoon Project. He gives you a study guide but its still not enough. You have to study all your notes LITERALLY. Lectures are oral so get ready to write. Film exam are easy, take notes so you can remember what is happening. Interesting movies not boring. Gives 2 extra credit. Test multiple choice.
Lectures, straight forward and simple. 4 exams (3 mid-terms 1 Final), all graded the same way, no difference between a mid-term and a final. 45 MC questions per exam, 3 movie exams (few questions after you watch a movie), and a very simple project (took me 2-hours of prep time). Take notes, or if you can remember his lectures than you'd be fine.
the class was easy. No FINALS OR MIDTERMS. but you have quizzes and discussio every week. every week you just have to take 15 question quiz on the reading or movie and write a discussion and reply to a discussion. very easy class. I recommend having a group chat to help with the quizzes and help for reading. the prof has a discord to ask questions.
I took Prof Delgadillo for HST 2201 Fall 2020. Fully asynchronous. He was super easy. Just weekly quizzes and discussions. No essays. No midterms. No final, just a quiz. Would def recommend! :)
Easy online class you get a article/movie each week with a textbook reading and a podcast. Then every week you take a quiz on those things. 15 question and you get 30 minutes. No final. Gives extra credit for voting. Also each week you have a discussion board on article/movie. Super easy :)
There are weekly 15 question quizzes. They are divided to 5 questions from the lecture( recorded podcast), 5 questions from the textbook, and 5 questions from a primary source(either movie/ reading). Not that hard, as long as you keep up with everything. He offers extra credit as well. Very easy class to follow.
For Professor Charles' class, there are weekly 15 question quizzes. They're not that hard, I would usually leave about a couple of hours to get through the content then take the quiz using memory. He has people respond to discussion prompts and then to others' responses to the prompts. He also offers extra credit. A very easy class to pass.
I believe he is the best history professor in CPP. There is nothing to regret taking him. Lectures are amazing, engaging, and AWESOME. He makes me becomes more into history even I'm in STEM major. Easy A class, just need to read(watch) the materials once a week (1-3hr) and you can get an A. Quiz will be each week (100% course). TAKE HIM
He's such a good professor! Although it seems like the exams are enough to make you drop out, its okay because the answers are in the lectures which was really easy if you actually take time to listen to them. Make sure to also do the 4 main essays in order to pass the class. Overall he seems organized and put together.
Delivered content in the form of recorded lectures and reading. Presented in a way that was easy to remember for weekly quizzes. Honestly felt like busy work, but was useful information. Would take again.
The class was asynchronous and entirely graded on multiple choice quizzes with some extra credit. He will answer emails pretty quickly. His lectures are interesting and if you take notes in them you should pass the class pretty easily.
I took this course fall of 2021 as an Asynchronous course. The class was very straightforward, very easy, and enjoyable. Class set up is simple, all lectures are podcasts with short multiple choice quizzes every week. There wasn't any worksheets but there are 4 essays, with your pick out of the 5 essay prompts that there are to choose from.
I took this class asynchronous but the structure was simple there was a discussion board and quiz every week and a lecture video. He was a really chill professor and his grading is straight forward. The assignments cannot be made up so if you forget to do one you cannot go back and do it.
Charles is a great lecturer and provides clear instructions for the 1 big course essay. If you're not headed in quite the right direction, his feedback is super helpful and there are 3 separate days where he reviews your progress. He's really cool and a proponent of the class Discord, so it's super easy to get in touch with him. 10/10 class
Great professor but his microphone is so annoying. Was only graded on exams and some small film quizzes and some attendance points.
Professor Delgadillo is an amazing history professor. I hated history but, he made it so easy to understand without overcomplicating lectures. There't no homework expect for a couple of movies you need to watch. Exams are straightforward and entirely based on lecture. He lectures from memory for the entire class so COME TO CLASS and you will pass.
Charles was a great teacher. He had lectures every day and kind of went fast so you just need to make sure you pay attention. Also he only grades based off of the 3 exams and then your key terms you turn in after each lecture. If you base your notes off the key term list he provides you, the exam will be easy.
Amazing professor! 3340 is pretty much all lectures but the lectures are great and he is not a boring speaker. He can talk little fast at times. There are 3 tests and a paper due at the end of the sem but its not super long and an easy prompt. Good extra cred opportunites. The tests are very easy if you pay attention in class. 1000% reccomend.
He's really cool. Very knowledgable of the subject. Easy and straightforward class. Allows an index card for exams. He talks hella fast tho so watch out lmao
Super chill professor. Gives you participation points for showing up to class. Take good notes in class and you will pass the exams!
Professor Delgadillo's class was one of the most interesting I've been in. He is very knowledgeable in US History and it shows through his lectures. Very little homework is given, just study for the tests. Only complaint I have would be that he does not post any of his slides or lectures in any circumstance. Be sure to attend class to get points.
One of the better professors at Cal Poly, it was only a GE class for me but Professor Delgadillo made it enjoyable. If you skip lectures you will fail the class. Also provides plenty of extra credit opportunities which was nice!
If you miss a lecture, you better have friends in the class. I'm not a history person so I sometimes dozed off when he talked. I did miss a few points on the exams because of that. There are 3 exams and flim exams. Those are mostly your grades. This is the class if you want to get a GED over with. Just pay attention closly to his lectures.
He is amazing! Take him if you can for HST 2202. All you need to do is show up everyday for class and you are pretty much set. He hardly assigned any work, and the exams are only based off what he goes over in lecture (no textbook) so just take notes during lecture and review them before class. He gave us three film exams but very doable.
Good class with a good professor. We never met but he was helpful in emails if I had questions. Everything was on BB: weekly homework and tests. Remembering history is difficult for me but the tests are fairly easy if you know the information. Mostly just busy work.
Great professor. His lectures are very fast-paced but are entertaining. He gives 3 tests of equal weight (including the final), all of which are multiple choice and easy to do well on as long as you take good notes.
Professor Delgadillo's class consisted of three online film exams, and four exams throughout the semester. While lecturing, he does talk quickly but he made learning history informative and fun. Take good notes and listen carefully to what he says and you'll do well on his exams. I recommend taking his class!
Dr. Delgadillo seemed like a nice enough guy, but his 3340 class was severely lacking. He does speed lectures with no breaks, and in an American Institutions and Ideals class, he spent literally 2 minutes on Jim Crow. I will admit that the structure of the class seemed very easy, but I wouldn't recommend him to any history majors.
Show up=easy grade! Awesome professor
Professor Delgadillo's class is very reasonable. There are three exams and a final paper which determine your grade. Class is very lecture heavy, but he does a good job at addressing everything for the exams. It is important to take notes as he does not post anything on Canvas. As long as you show up to class and pay attention, you will do well.
Down to Earth and knowledgeable professor. Easy A, no textbook, homework, or reports. 3 exams 45 questions in 50 minutes in class on paper using a scantron based on lectures. 3 film quizzes each 10 questions based on the film he tells you to watch outside of class. Exams are not cumulative, fill out the study guide each lecture for exam preparation
He is extremely knowledgeable about his subject, down to the tiniest details. His lectures are pretty enjoyable and feel like story time. You're screwed if you miss his lectures, though, since he doesn't publish his lecture notes. He also makes some pretty funny jokes sometimes, and he's extremely friendly and easy to talk to.
You get weekly quizzes based off his online lectures and a research paper based off the three books you read throughout the semester. His class is very easy and he responds right away with any questions you may have.
His class consists of three multiple-choice (in-person) exams and one multiple-choice (in-person) final exam. Throughout the course, we would get three film exams, also multiple choice. We watch the films at our own time. Then we do key terms as attendance participation.
Professor Delgadillo is the best. His lectures are very interesting and keeps the attention of the students throughout the class. He always tries to connect history with our current lives. There is no homework, just the in class activity. There are three tests and three movie tests (all easy if you just pay attention). (Class taken Spring 2024)
I hate this class with a passion. Took his class my freshman year at CPP. His 3 exams are based on lectures he has no slides on, so you better pray your a fast typer or writer because he also talks extremely fast. His exams are so frustrating because you spend hours studying and see many questions barely mentioned in lecture. Crazy for a GE course.
I HATE history but I LOVED this class. The grade consisted of noncumulative exams (gave all topics and allowed cheat sheet), daily participation questions, and a few movies to watch as hw and answer questions on. Basically if you showed up to class and took decent notes (doesn't post slides), it's an easy A and a fun class.
If you hate reading, this class isn't for you. Lot of reading, but if u carve out time and take good notes, you'll be fine. Weekly quizzes on reading textbook as well as sometimes online documents and movies. Movie recs are hit or miss. Pretty straight forward class.
Great professor you can get easy points by simply showing up and doing the key terms. Allows cheat sheet vocab index card on exams. His class has 4 exams all in person. Great teacher and can be humorous at times. Also has a few film exams taken online when you like. The only negative to his class if be ready to write or type fast during lecture.
Three film exams (watch a movie) 10 questions with only 10 minutes. Taking notes fast is good since he talks fast. Four exams (final is NOT cumulative). Key terms the max points for this is 200 pts. That's it.
Theres really no homework, 3 film exams and 4 exams based on lecture, he doesnt post the slides online but if you miss a class he would help you during office hours, you really gotta go to class because he says everything there.
Grades based on 3 film exams, 4 noncumulative, multiple choice exams with a notecard, and key terms (basically attendance). Almost all content is shared verbally in lectures. The class actually made me get good at taking notes and memorizing info. By the second exam I wasn't using the notecards. Recommended if you don't mind putting in some effort.
Test heavy however, you will pass as long as you pay attention and attend each lecture. Not very assignment heavy, but just make sure you go to class.
He covers the material clearly and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. To pass his class you just have to pay attention and is easy. I would definitely take his class again.
I have always enjoyed history but this was just amazing, the lectures were super exciting and I genuinely learned a lot. Very down-to-earth guy, and only 4 tests and 3 movies that are very interesting to watch. DO NOT MISS LECTURES and take good notes.
BEST LECTURER IVE EVER HAD. He makes history, a topic I don't normally like, into something I talk about with enthusiasm outside of class to my friends/family. He connects events to things that are happening right now, and is really funny. PLEASE just take him. He is the GOAT. Just be prepped to listen and take notes quickly, he talks fast
He uses a microphone and lectures very fast. He gives no homework. He won't post his slides ever so you go to class. Go to class, take notes, follow along, and you get a notecard on the exam too. He only grades by exams so you have to do good. He gives an opportunity for extra credit and he makes information easy to understand.
BEST HISTORY PROFESSOR EVER! I have always hated history, but he made it FUN! Class is straightforward, listen & take notes. He talks very fast, but if you've watched Gilmore Girls, you're fine. No hw, tests make up most of the grade. Test is simple, you get a notecard (can be typed, but not needed to pass). Alot of EC is given, TAKE ADVANTAGE!
he's pretty cool plays music before every lecture 10/10 attendance isn't mandatory but every class he has a question which is participation for that day. if you attend the lectures you'll pass the exams
If you hate history, take this class. He plays music related to topic before class, makes jokes and is just overall great. You dont HAVE to go to class but he does ask a question every class that counts for ur participation points. I would go, those points carry you. Tests are super fair and movie questions arent hard at all. NO HOMEWORK
Pretty chill class. The professor is very enthusiastic during lectures. The course had 3 mcq exams including the final, 3 film exams (watch movie & take 10 question quiz) and notecards where he has you define a word discussed in the lecture. Plus no homework
His lectures were basically like telling a story. He doesn't post lecture slides (not that there's much on them) but you do have to be present to take notes. Zero homework, 4 exams including the final which wasn't cumulative, and 3 film exams. He was pretty cool, not a difficult class as long as you get the notes.
Clear, fun, insightful lectures that make history fun. Will not hold back anything; you really get to see how wild history gets sometimes. Lots of opportunities for easy extra credit, such as answering questions in class. No surprises in this class; lots of reminders for test dates and such.
Professor Delgadillo purely only lectures and based of that he gives his students a test. He can come off as rude sometimes when you ask questions, and overall has a cold personality.
