if you plan on taking eng 111 or 112, i highly recommend you take it from this man. he's the best you will find.

Great English from a great southerner!

I had him for ENG 112. If you want to drastically improve your writing skills, take him, he is a great teacher! He is very clear in his lectures, very helpful, has a great sense of humor and is hot, hot, hot!!! On a scale of 1-10, I give him a 12.

Very good professor. Hilarious sense of humor, if your smart enough to get it. Very enjoyable if you have a brain. Those in my class that were dumb were bored. I'd take him again. (heck I'd marry him... LOL) he IS cute.

Took his online Poetry course. It was very helpful and overall very easy. Would take a class of his again.

great sence of humor. A fair teacher. Lets you know on day 1 what he wants and when its due.

I liked that he told us what to expect on day one. I knew exactly what each week would be like. As far as being hot, well...for a 30-something he's decent.

I had Professor Freeland nearly 2 years ago, and still remember it being great. He's clear and helpful. I highly recommend his class, and like another commenter said, if you are smart enough, you'll figure out his sense of humor! :-)

He is probably the best teacher I have ever had. He is very clear with what he wants and very honest in a nice way. His intelligence shines, and makes you pay attention. He let's you know what you're doing wrong and most importantly what you are doing right. Couldn't ask for anyone better.

He is a great teacher and loves to involve the class. He challenge's you which is a good thing. I recommend him for anyone that has to take 111! I plan on taking him for 112 also!

Best English teacher I've ever had....he really lets you know what is required of you and gives you more than enough time to complete the papers. Took him twice and wished he taught more classes.

I think he's great. He made 111 so fun, we debated of a lot of random topics to get our "creative juices flowing" so that we would have things to write about. When he draws things on the board it's soooooo funny. I highly recommend him. Great teacher and keeps you interested.

Has got to be one of the best professors at sinclair! Everything he needs you to do, he informs you weeks in advance. He doesn't pile the work on like some of the others, Wish he taught other classes. I think other's feel about the same way!

I loved him, he was so fun! We talked about everything in that class! I have never had such a fun english class. Hes so funny and his tattoo is hot!

Mr. Freeland is absolutely AMAZING! He's got a great sense of humor and he always gets the class discussion going really well. He's always in a good mood and helps you anytime you may have a problem. I definately reccommend his class to anyone at anytime!

The first few weeks of class were boring and seemed unproductive but things really came together mid-way. This prof will go way out of his way to help you out and he is very personable and understanding. His expectations are clear and sensible and I really feel I am a much better writer and thinker from his class. You will have fun in his class.

the best instructor a student could ask for. he is funny and his class is never boring. he elaborates and explains until the topic is understood. it's a pity he doesn't teach 113. i'd recommend him for everybody.

This teacher is very laid back, but still professional. He helps you after hours, and gives you clarity in all of your work. He is not hard, but the work takes time to do, but he makes sure not to overlaid you with unneccesary work.

man, i always hated english but his class was sweet. an inpiration if you will. i devoloped a gnarly passion for literature and writing in his class. if your reading this freeland, your'e the reason i read books today and i love you sir.

Chuck was really awesome! I took him for 111 and i absolutely loved him! He was really helpful and his lectures were hilarious! TAKE HIM! I didn't exactly mind staring at him for and hour either...

He's the best prof I've EVER had...in eng or not...so nice...soooo funny...never a boring class I'm actually sad when I'm late...down to earth...real...take him for sure! I wish I would've taken him for 111 :)

Scary when you first meet him, but if you talk to him in his office he's quite nice and genuine. He's a very intelligent man. A bit of a hard class though... it just takes time and effort. A+ Professor!

Chuck Freeland is the best instructor I've ever had. He pushed me to create great pieces of work. He said, "It's hard to get an F in my class and it's hard to get an A as well." I got an A+ in both classes of his that I took. I also want to marry him. Viva Freeland.

Extremely intelligent, and really knows his craft. He is difficult but that is the beauty of his course; he knows you're capable of excellence. He's also seen David Gilmour in concert!

I tried really hard in the class, somewhat stressed out, but I got a 97 in the class and a 100% on my research paper! He is pretty sexy:) and is more than willing to help! I would definately recommend him.

I had Chuck for ENG 112 and 255 and I loved him. He is hard but you will learn how to write a good paper. He is very helpful if you are willing to put forth the effort. Chuck is extremely intelligent and talented. As far as hot, yes,yes,yes!!--especially when he grows a beard.

Chuck is a very laid-back and cool teacher. I think that as long as you make a reasonable attempt to complete his papers on time and follow by the correct organization, that you will at least get a "B". So far all my work has received at least an A-. He likes it when you go to his office for help, and his advice helps a LOT! Easy A or B id say..

Mr. Freeland is by far the best English Professor I have ever seen. It was a true honor to be a part of his class and I highly recommend him to everyone reguardless of your writing level.

This is the best English Professor I have ever had. He is extremely funny and very helpful. Just do the best you can, show up to every class, and you will see what i mean. If you are serious about learning something, then this is the Professor for you. I can't even express in words how good Mr. Freeland is!

This man makes me want to take English all over again. Excessively helpful. Really. He knows the ropes, so take him. Do the work and you're almost guaranteed a good grade. Nice eye candy too.

chuck is the best! very helpful and an easy grader. he cares about your opinions and thoughts and has lots of in class discussions.

This is a wise person and you would be wise to take his class. He will challenge you and has a 360 degree knowledge of what he's talking about.

He was by far one of the most helpful teachers I have had. There are three papers through the class: summary, critque, and research paper. The summary and critque paper prepares you greatly for the research paper. I will use what he has taught me probably for the rest of college. If you actually try you should hvae no problem passing this class

Great teacher; one of the few out there that actually care about teaching rather than just doing bare minimum for a paycheck. If you give it all you have and ask for help when needed you will get a great grade! Nice teacher and very helpful! :)

Mr Freeland is a magnificent teacher, and truly cares about a students success and of learning, and he's extremely fair. I would recommend him to anyone who wishes to succeed as a student, wants to learn, and enjoy the process. I wouldn't hesitate to take another course with him leading it!

Good teacher overall. The class was extremely easy. He tends to think he is funny, but he is not. I would recommend him if you want an easy A in English.

He is an awesome teacher! He always finds something that you deal with in real life and relates it to your paper. He is there every step of the way to make sure your paper is done right! Highly recommend this teacher, he is awesome!

Wonderful teacher, taking his poetry class next semester

I've never had a professor who is more passionate about what he does. I ended my pursuit of an English degree at a 4 year university to try out nursing, and never in a million years did I think an SCC professor would change my mind about a career during a class I only took as a requirement. One of the best professors I've ever had by a long shot.

AWESOME. Seriously. I am very good at English, but Mr. Freeland is REALLY interesting even for those who struggle or do not like english. He is an easy grader-follow the rubrics and you WILL get an A. TOTALLY want to take him for English Comp 2.

You will definitely learn something about yourself, and your writing. I loath writing papers, but this class was enjoyable.

He gaves extra class work that is very enjoyable, such as visiting museum, observing people around the campus and you should write and essay at the end of this. Write your essays and take your A. Freeland was a wonderful professor, one of the best English teachers I have ever had. He is relatable, funny, and most of all he makes English an enjoyable experience.

Freeland is the best professor I've had. He gives great feedback and is very willing to help and answer questions (even the "dumb" ones). He gives clear instructions and due dates, so you won't be confused about what's expected of you. He's also quite witty and makes class enjoyable. And, if I'm honest, he's pretty attractive. Total silver fox.

Brilliant and inspiring. Even though this class was online he made me feel like I was a part of something and that I had his attention. He definitely wants his students to take something away from the course in a positive way, and I certainly did! Love him!

Chuck is a brilliant instructor. Hilarious, a bit cynical, informative, straight to the point. If you pay enough attention in class and actively think about what he is saying you will have no problem w/ the assignments. Most supportive teacher I have ever had too, actively interested in how you are doing in class and in life too.

Professor Freeland is by far the best professor I have ever had. He made class enjoyable and I actually looked forward to going. He gives great feedback and helps whenever you need it. If you write the papers, follow the directions, and do the in class assignments, which are crazy easy, you will get an A. However, if you hope to slide through this class and not try, he will show no pity. He treats his students like adults and leaves it up to you on whether or not you show up to class, but you will miss out on in class points.

We alternated between discussion posts and multiple choice quizzes each week, and then there were two short papers for the whole semester. If you do the assignments, you will get an A.

Very understanding when it comes to being late. Lectures can sometimes be boring but in class work is taken for a grade which can help at the end. Paper heavy but is willing to help you and will proof read your papers and give awesome feedback. Can be strict on spelling and punctuation so again highly recommend him reviewing your papers.

Chuck was extremely understanding of any hardships students faced during the course, and was very caring. There were only 4 papers to write, as well as bi-weekly discussion posts about the book. Books need to be read in a timely manner, but the quizzes are 10 points, and not super difficult. Chuck is laid back, unless the quality of work is bad.

Freeland is a good professor. The only way you'll fail is if you don't try! GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! He gives amazing feedback and he grades so fast it's insane. You'll never question where you stand in his class. The only reason I wouldn't take him again is that sometimes I didn't like how he said things. Overall, he's a great professor.

Easy peasy

Freeland made this class much better than any other professor could have. His lectures were interesting, and, he graded faster than any other professor or teacher I've ever had by a long shot. He is super picky on grammar and punctuation, though. He also genuinely cares about his students.

As someone who has struggled with English classes, Prof. Freeland makes his class very easy for his students. He gives you the exact tools that you need to pass his class. His feedback on papers are incredibly helpful as well.

This was an online class that I took, and it was honestly really easy. I've always had trouble with English but Mr. Freeland made it really easy to understand how to write essays. With every essay that I did and got feedback from him, I took the feedback and got way better at essay writing. Great professor and great class!

Freeland was the only prof. I've had that's taken the time to help me with my specific struggles in the class. He gave great feedback on our Zoom calls. He truly cares about his students. Easy to pass his class, just follow the rubric. If you have questions he is always willing to help. Best prof. I've ever had!

Great guy. Chuck truly cares about his students and goes out of his way to help his students with the assignment. Fair grader. Zoom meetings and/or in person meetings are available if you need help. HIGHLY recommend Chuck! He has taught me so much!

Great teacher extremely helpful on papers, and if you follow his reviews you will pass with an easy A-B, only warning is if you skip his help and try to play the catch-up game at the end of the year, he won't grade your things on your timetable.

He's so nice and funny. My favorite part of class is when he'd drop a random factoid that he had just learned about and it always made me laugh. I'm really sad that I only needed to take this course as a prereq because I would love to have him as a professor again.

Professor Freeland was super helpful as an English professor. He accepts late work with a slight penalty, but it's really better to get the assignments in on time. He's super clear about his expectations in class and is a genuinely helpful instructor. He seems kinda mean but he's really nice and helpful.

Professor Freeland is one of the best profs Ive had. Classes are fun and participation is easy marks. Essays can stack up but if you complete them as they're assigned it's a super easy A. Papers are reviewed prior to final submission so every opportunity is given to receive the best grade you can get. Generous office hours as well.
