interesting pictures, keep up with the readings.
Three grades in the class all year, midterm, poster project, and final. Takes daily attendence but there is no attendence grade. I hardly ever went to class, he puts all his notes online at midterm and final, studyed those and went to class for midterm and final review days. Could be easy A if you goto class more than I did. I ended up with a B.
He's okay. Im a Landscape Architecture major and i thought the class itself was pretty boring. He gives the test questions to you before the test, go to class for attendence points and random quizzes.
He checks attendance. Many classes have a pop quiz at the very end of class (so never leave early!) - these quizes are about the easiest ever and even if you don't know the answer, your neighbor will. Midterm/final somewhat hard, but definitely passable. Easy "A" if you study. WILL involve a big project. Really goofy guy. Notes/book online.
if you will.....enough said
class is boring but he gives easy quizzes for participation and the tests are easy if you study note swap an hour before. you have to make a poster but its not that bad
this professor changed my life for the better. He is unbelievable with his views! One of the best men I know. He is so passionate about nature and trees and animals.
Really easy class and an easy A. Lectures are basically home movies with all the pictures he's taken over the years. Some of the photos are really amazing if that's your thing. Just a fun class to go to and learn a few interesting things. He's also a really nice guy.
Very dry class, but you need to go for clicker questions. Materials for the midterm and final are on quizlet/noteswap. Really try on the poster. It's worth a large portion of your grade.
Very interesting class, if you will. I took it for a humanities course and I was pleased with it, if you will. Dr. Fryling is very passionate about nature and it shows in this course, if you will. He is a great guy, if you will. Lol. Make sure to show up for quizzes and don't use a cell phone or computer because he'll call you out! if you will :)
Fryling is an aged, old man who talks slowly. Note-taking is not allowed, and there are three major assignments in the class. Clicker questions are easy, and the class isn't all that difficult, but it's extremely hard to stay awake. He says "if you will" too much.
BORING!! Attendance is absolutely mandatory even though you don't pay attention while you are there. Midterm and Final are pretty hard. The class requires you to make a poster on photoshop that he is incredibly picky about. This class was supposed to be an easy elective. It was not. I do not recommend.
IF YOU WILL. Boring, mandatory class for clicker questions, try hard on the poster, good luck staying awake. Some really cool pictures though.
Such an easy class! His reviews before the midterm & final are basically all of the exam questions. His class is painfully BORING, & you have to attend to get clicker points. (Just make a system with a few people & switch who takes clickers on what day, so you don't have to go to every class). This class doesn't have many opportunities for points.
If you want an easy A, take this class! Yes attendance is mandatory for clicker questions a (HUGE part of your grade) but incredibly easy. Midterm and Final reviews he gives in class are basically word-for-word questions on the test. Really nice man too. TAKE IF YOU NEED AN A!
He is a very nice old man who loves his job. Class attendance is crucial due to the clicker questions. Some lectures may be boring but it is an easy Humanity class to take. I would recommend taking this class. The poster project is somewhat annoying but easy. If you attend class, study for midtermfinal you will be fine.
Very easy test! Just look for notes on other websites for his class and you should get an A. The poster is demanding and the most points make sure you pick an interesting topic.
Easiest elective I've ever taken. The only time I had to put effort toward the class was for the midterm, final, and final project. The midterm and final can be found online, verbatim. He grades the final project pretty harshly, but if you ask him for help before it is due, he will tell you what you need to do to get an A on it.
clicker questions almost every class so you can handle that however you want. has a midterm exam, a project, and a final. puts the information for the tests online. for the project just follow the format and you're good to go.
He is class is pretty easy if you go to class for the clickers but you also must use past notes /tests on other websites in order to pass the tests, without those the tests would be very hard.
He is a sweet, old man, but is strict when it comes to paying attention. There are no phones or laptops allowed. He turns all the lights off and lectures the entire class. It's hard not to fall asleep. Class will never end early nor will it ever be cancelled. However, if you show up to every class and do the clickers, you will do well.
He is a really sweet, old man. I'd say this was one of my favorite classes I have taken so far. Attendance is mandatory since he does in class clickers almost every class period. You have two test, both of which he puts up study guides for on moodle and then a project. The project can be confusing if you don't know how to use photoshop.
Boring lectures and a quiz every day
Has midterm final and project, use quizlet or old test and you should be fine. Clickers almost every class, you can get someone to do it for you just don't walk in late or he'll call you out. He loves nature and wants you to love it too
Extremely easy class. All you have to do is show up, study a little bit for your tests, and do the project and you should get an A. He does multiple clicker questions every day so make sure you're not late to class because you might miss one (even if you're 4 minutes late). Fryling LOVES nature and his enthusiasm is adorable.
this is an easy class, if you will... loves to say if you will... is a hippy tree huger, that dropped to much acid. clicker questions every class. most boring lectured class i have ever taken. midterm and final questions can be found online, verbatim. one 200pt easy project, with opportunity for 20pts extra credit. EASY A.
Can sleep in class the whole time except for clickers, if you will.. Midterm and final are online nearly word for word, if you will..
Such an easy humanities gen ed. Literally just do the clicker questions and the poster project. The project is quite simple in reality its just a little research, and you can easily find someone to do it for you. You can pretty much guarantee a clicker except for midterm and final week. Those are both verbatim online just memorize and your good.
Fryling loves his subject but most of the class is him talking about pictures, which makes taking notes difficult - but he does insist that you not take notes at the beginning of the semester. Also clicker quizzes almost every class, so if you do not show up you will lose those points.
You will use clickers in this class almost every single class period. Lectures for the whole class time. Easy A if you show up and do the clicker questions. Will call you out in class if he sees you on your phone or computer. Does NOT allow computers to be used for note taking. Will never let the class out early; he teaches until the time is up.
Only two tests and enough clickers to weigh the tests out. Everything about this class is very easy, but he's very particular about the posters so follow the guidelines!! Has test reviews before exams that give most of the information, but it's all easy stuff to memorize the day before. Extremely boring lectures & very strict rules against phones
This is a boring class, unless you want to talk about trees all day. You can sleep or watch movies in this class. I would take this if you're looking for an easy class. Everything for the test are online.
Easy A, but you MUST show up to class. Make sure you follow ALL of his specifics about the project and turn it in early. A very nice man and is well educated, you will have a list of places you want to visit when the class is over. Gives the exact exam on the review days, no need to take notes. Make sure to do ALL of the clicker questions!
The only grades are a midterm, final, term poster, and clicker questions. The midterm and final questions are on Quizlet verbatim. The term poster is a lot of research and on Photoshop which is difficult to navigate. He lectures the entire class and everyday I sat outside the class on Netflix until the clicker question at the end. EASY A
hardest thing about this class was staying awake. only go to class for clicker questions, which are a huge part of your grade. tells you exam questions the day before exams and they are also on quizlet verbatim so its hard not to pass exams. 1 poster project with specific criteria but not too difficult. easy to finish with above a 100% in the class
Clicker questions for attendance, midterm, final and poster are the only grades. Hard to find interesting if you're not into landscape architecture but easy A.
Very easy Humanities. Get into the group me early and the class works together to do clickers and test. All of his test are on the test bank and on quizlet. Poster was very easy and worth 200 points. He gave my class extra credit and I very easily got a 101% in his class.
Study the quizlets and you can ace the final and midterm. If you try just a little bit on the poster you can get an A. Easiest class at LSU
Sweet man, but he talks so slow and his material is painfully boring. No computer usage is allowed in class, so he puts all the notes online. There are clicker questions everyday and trust me, THEY MATTER. If you get them wrong or skip class then they bring your grade down a good bit. Super easy midterm and final, and an easy poster project.
Nice man and very passionate about National Parks but he lectures every day with the lights out; talks very slow, very hard to stay awake. Show up to class because he gives random clicker quizzes- which are very easy. Only a midterm, a final, and a poster project. Easy A, little to no effort needed
He's really passionate about his profession which you can tell from when he lectures. He uses slides to teach and it's pretty boring. Not the most interesting class. Does a review of tests so if you listen to him then, you should be fine. Clicker tests almost everyday so attendance is really important.
Basic lecture/GenEd course. Class itself isn't bad but the professor makes it pretty miserable. Poster project is graded harshly on technical things which is hard if you don't grasp computers. No phones in class. If you enjoy monotone lectures, going to class, and computers, go for it. (P.S. Dare you not to fall asleep when he turns the lights off)
Easy class, midterm and finals are online. Poster project is easy if you put forth the effort. Very boring and often times hard to stay awake.
Pretty straight forward class but the professor makes it boring. Class is made up of mostly clicker questions, two tests( midterm and final) and a poster. Poster grades are inaccurate and when asked the professor can not seem to tell you why you got points deduced. Would not take again.
He has clicker questions every class so you have to go. There are quizlets for the midterm and final, that has mostly every topic covered on the exams. The poster is super easy but tedious, so turn it in early. He mostly grades the poster on the format, not the actual content.
Clicker questions every lecture, must do them to pass the class. Lectures make you very sleepy because he turns the lights off ALL the way and has a very slow, monotone voice. However, if you need a humanities elective, the class is very easy to pass with only 2 tests and an easy poster project.
go to class for clicker questions!
Fryling really cares about this class. He is lecture heavy and you cannot have out your phone or laptops. There are daily clicker questions, midterm, final and a group project. The project is super easy and you can get up to 15 bonus points, midterm and final are easy and can be found on Quizlet. Make sure to attend for clicker question points.
Extremely boring but also very easy. only got a B because I didn't study and bombed the midterm. go to class every day for the clicker questions
This man is incompetent. He doesn't teach you anything at all, the only reason people go to class are for the clicker questions. Most people fail the midterm and the final because its on random information never mentioned in class. If you do the poster it will save your grade, but he gave me an F on it because my title block was the wrong size.
Fryling does not allow his students to take notes, however, you do have to show up to every class because he does clicker questions. There are 2 tests, that are really easy as well as a super easy poster that you can do with a partner. I would recommend this class as an easy humanity.
Clicker quizzes everyday so attendance is mandatory. He's an older guy with a monotoned voice but every time the class gets a 100% on the clicker quizzes he gets so excited and it's so cute. For the project, make sure you use POWERPOINT! not what he has on his moodle because that was confusing ash. Pretty easy class to get A in.
Incredibly boring but somewhat easy. Not great with technology. He doesn't seem to use email and doesn't update the Moodle page until needed, which is very confusing and frustrating when planning ahead. He's so knowledgable on the subject that he doesn't really know how to explain things to those who aren't,
Professor Fryling is a nice man with good intentions, and a good heart. However, his lectures are simply pictures. He teaches through stories and it is very confusing to know what you need for the exams. There are only 2 exams, and with the projects, the instructions are not clear at all. If you ask him about it, what he wants constantly changes.
Prof. Fryling is the sweetest old man ever. He chooses to teach his class showing pictures and sharing his experiences/pictures. For points, he does clicker questions, if you pay attention during the lecture you will get them right 100% of the time and that is why you need to be in class. The midterm and final are both also online word for word.
Dr. Fryling is so sweet. Lectures are not mandatory, but there is a 1 or 2 question quiz after every class. There are 2 small "projects", they are very easy. The midterm & final are straight from his review, so I would attend those lectures
I took this class online, attendance was checked with 1-3 question quizzes every class through moodle. As long as you complete the quiz in the allotted time frame, you really don't have to attend the lecture. Really easy class.
10/10 teacher. There is only 2 tests in the class and they are easy to study for. 1 project that is also easy, only down fall is its an 8am and theres clicker questions for participation points
Do not take this f*ing class. The slides are literally just photos that he tells stories about, and the tests are just random facts that no one would never know. You have to read a bunch of stuff and he's so hard to follow. Had to drop because I bombed the midterm, thinking it was going to be different information.
Very interested in his course Views of the American Landscape. Does a 2 or 3 question quiz after each lecture. Does a midterm and final review that are essentially the answers to both of those test so must attend them. Easy A+
He seems like such a nice guy so it pains me to rate him this harsh. He is just very difficult to keep up with in lectures and NEVER responds to emails or texts.
Old guy he is nice. His lectures are kind of pointless he doesn't really go over anything that's gonna be on the test. Doesn't respond to email. Go to class the last day before exam he gives all answers and questions on it and there is likely a quizlet. Do the daily quizzes at the end of the class because he usually gives the answers in class.
Save yourself the stress and do not take this class. I took this class, thinking that it was going to be an easy A and this class turned out to be harder than chemistry. Hes hard to get in touch with and if you bomb his midterm; your only hope is to pass the final because his quizzes do not boost your grade. Somehow I passed his final!
Very easy and he covered topics that were interesting to me. The only thing that could bite you in the butt are the daily clicker questions which are easy, but they're just as easy to forget about. Lectures can be very long. All in all, a very nice man and cares about the subject matter.
He is so hard to reach, he never responds to emails, rude as well when he does answer. His due dates are very confusing and never updated on moodle. His tests are pretty similar to quizlets found online, but it is a ton of information to remember.
Too difficult for a gen-ed class. Professor was rude and unhelpful. When I tried to attend office hours he didn't show up or respond to my emails.
Everything is online or in the classroom besides the test being in hoHimes. The tests are heavy on work, but there are quizlets for review.
Fryling is one of my favorite teachers at LSU. He is very passionate about the subject and made it very entertaining to learn about. I had to contact him about a missing grade and he gave me his cell to call so we could work it out. He almost convinced me to change my major the LA, but I was already too deep into my current major.
The lectures are quite boring, but he is a nice guy. Your grade is based mostly off the midterm and final, and the rest of the points are from the participation quizzes. If you didn't show up to a single class, you could get a 100 if you memorized the quizlets for the exams. The quizzes are also on quizlet somewhere.
He is super quiet so you can barely hear him
He is very passionate about this subject and it makes the lectures actually quite interesting and enjoyable about a kinda boring subject. Easy participation quizzes at the end of each lecture make up most of the grade. Easy exams as well.
Cannot teach during lectures. Slides are just random pictures that pretty much have no relevance to anything on the exams. Very boring and hard to keep up with. Would not recommend taking this class with him
Super easy class if you need the credit. easy participation questions at the end of almost every class mostly online. Tests are decently easy and there's only a midterm and final.
He DOES NOT UNDERSTAND TECHNOLOGY. He has clicker questions everyday (they are only open for 60 seconds in his class). If your internet goes down/is slow he will not excuse it. He never puts grades in right. He seems out of it. Only got a B cause of the damn internet. Don't take him.
Professor Fryling was a very nice person and you could tell that he had a lot of passion for the subject. Despite this, it was extremely hard to follow and the lectures lost my attention very easily. You must go to lectures for the clicker quizzes. There are hardly any grades that go in, so you have to do good on the midterm and the final.
He is the sweetest little most wholesome thing. There are 1-2 question quizzes almost every class that count for a grade, but they are online so you can just log in during class time and take it wherever. He gives you all the exam question and answers before the exam. Very easy filler class, highly recommend.
He's an okay teacher but horrible with technology. A lot of grading mistakes happened because he would either not put in grades or put in the wrong ones. Clickers are taken in every class but you can do them from wherever. Not a lot of grades to put in since clickers are only worth 2-4 points and the two exams are worth 45%.
He is very old school, but shows great interest in his field. Attendance "clicker" quizzes (60 seconds) that can be done outside of class. However, if your login doesn't work or have a technical issue, he doesn't care. Reads questions that are gonna be on the exams. Exams worth 90% (45% midterm, 45% final) of grade, clicker quiz worth 10%.
I liked his lectures but could only hear every third word. He will not turn that mic up no matter how many students complain. Make sure you answer the clicker questions everyday and screenshot for proof because he makes grading mistakes frequently. I got 100 on the midterm and final bcs answers are on quizlet. Take for an easy (but frustrating) A
Do not skip the class or else you will get an F.
HE'S ANCIENT. 90% of your grade is the midterm and final and the other 10% is in class participation. He isn't very tech savvy and messes up putting in participation and as far as I know he doesn't have a TA. The whole class is him showing slides and yapping. I never paid much attention. Just make sure you study the Quizlets and you'll do decent.
It's seriously such an easy class, truthfully no need to take notes. There is a 2 question quiz end of every class so show up sometimes its on paper, very low pressure. Absolutely go to the review classes before the midterm and final, his review questions are the exact same ones as on the test, memorize a quizzlet of them and you'll be set.
This class was so easy but felt like a huge waste of my time. Final and midterm are both on Quizlet so there isn't even a point in going really, except the small grade for attendance. I went to the lectures anyways. If you want to hear an old man ramble about his vacations and make bird noises, go for it! I'm not even sure what I "learned."
A whole semester and I still have no idea what this class is actually about. The only grades are an attendance quiz every class, a midterm, and a final. Quizzes are on the computer, so its easy to look up and get right. He reads the midterm and final as a review so you know what's on it. It's so annoying that you have to go to a useless lecture.
Prof. Fryling is very kind and smart. His teaching style is tough to follow, taking notes isn't necessary. He gives out exam questions on review days but sometimes switches up the questions on the exams. Daily quizzes are only open for one minute. Study Quizlets for best results on the midterm and final. Don't take this class if you don't need to.
I like him, he makes what he teaches interesting.
Sweet guy. All the test were easy if you just find a quizlet for the work. He does clicker questions during class so you have to go for that.
Mr Fryling is the sweetest and most amazing professor! you can tell he is very passionate about landscape architecture. His class only consists of attendance quizzes and tests. Overall his class is very easy to pass. 10/10!
Very passionate and sweet. He makes grading mistakes, but if you talk to him before or after class, he will quickly change them. Go to class because attendance is one of the only grades. The midterm and final are easy if you go to the reviews, he gives out most of the questions and answers that will be on the exam, the rest you can find on Quizlet.
You can tell he cares about what he's teaching. Easy elective. Lectures are boring, but you need to go for attendance. Only grades are attendance, midterm, and final.
Very old doesn't understand technology
