well he likes to hear himself talk especially when it's about himself.
Knows his subject. Lots of experiences and funny stories.
could he be any more boring?
Hard grader, tests are rewriting into a blue book EVERYTHING he said in class
As a teacher, I think he was the most unprofessional man I have ever had the misfortune of taking. He didn't give us a syllabus for 3 weeks. He grades outrageously hard. He preaches his views and doesn't keep his office hours. NEVER TAKE HIM!!!!!
very unfair and cruel. and he doesn't keep his office hours at all.
Unfair to make fun of the way he looks. He's very experianced, knows alot about his subject, has a sense of humor thats hard to get used to. I find him effective, Compared to other profs i've had... hes one of the better ones.
interesting but moves slowly.
very opinionated. if you dont have his same ideas he doesnt seem to care what you have to say. seems like he tries to push and brag about everywhere hes been, everything hes done, and all the places hes worked for.
I liked him. Taught me how to take effective notes from a lecture. I got an A for the semester. I think he is very experienced and has the right to brag about the places he's worked for! I'm taking him next semster for Canadian.
On time is not in his vocabulary. He is very unprofessional and is late for everything, including study sessions that HE picks the time for. Do not sit in the front row unless you like to be spit on. Hope you can regurgitate info well. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
If your a government major he is pretty easy. Enjoyed greatly!

Easy notes, notes are test questions, a good B level teacher
He is OK. Very likable person, knows his stuff very well. I would reccommend him to anybody.
this teacher sucks. i mean..bad. he's horrible. avoid him if possible! he's the worst ever.
*AVOID HIS CLASSES AT ALL COSTS* He is unprofessional, untimely, biased, and egocentric. He loves to rant, and his rants are usually tied to his biases and ego. He is a hard grader and loves to attack poor grammar. Spare yourself!
Gives you the test and Final Questions. Puntual? don't count on it after day 1. His bias shows through every thing he rants about. better Learn to love arrows, circles, and checkmarks cuz they'll be all over the chalkboard. Why?
Very unhelpful and very unclear, steer clear if you know what is good for your transcript and your sanity!
easy and if you write your papers or essay questions according to what you believe his opinion to be you will get an A everytime, just tell him what he wants to hear and its an easy A...
anywhere from 10-20 minutes late every class. Goody goody and whatever your opinion is is wrong. Tests are easy though, but the guy just gets on your nerves. Very proper but lags behind alot with the material.
If I had one thing I could do differently in my life, it would be to go back and get ANOTHER PROFESSOR for this course. I don't trash professors often, but this guy is obnoxious, unclear, and late...EASY AS HELL, though, so at least that's a plus.
This guy sucks..He is a HIPOCRITE..He is late almost every class and then gets pissed when someone walks in late. Very unhelpful and very unclear. This guy should not be teaching. BIASED to say the least. Steer clear of this guy.
Everyone bashes the guy but he's real smart. He is late everyday but it's no skin off my back. His tests are pretty easy and he's real helpful whenever he is around.
Very smart, and considerate man; who is passionate about the material he teaches. He works very hard to make sure that everyone in his class does well. Yes, he is always late; but, it is understandable since he lives an hour away, and has a packed schedul
everything he said offended me as a democrat. his class is easy as anything but it was kind of annoying how his cell phone went off at least once a week during class.
i like him and you all should know by now to get in good with a proff from the start, and tell them what they want to hear. nobody cares what you think...it's your grade that matters. you have to learn to laugh at him, and not take things personally.
Completely full of himself, never listens to questions before he answers. The MOST unpunctual person alive. Everything he says is completely biased. He has no short term memory, if you don't change your name every day, he'll do it for you."Inconceiva

He's awesome, and incredibly smart! I learned so much in his class, give him a chance

this guy is THE worst prof i have ever had; most one sided man alive; so lazy he puts 8 weeks of material(aka rambling)into one exam because he is too lazy to grade/make up another exam. becuase of this his material is too much to RECALL in the essays for one exam; still relies on notes from 1980's
Too bad he is the only teacher for this class. BORING is the best word to describe it. He is too into himself & how much he knows. Takes FOREVER to return tests. ALWAYS late to class. The only good thing: he tells you the questions that are going to be on the tests ahead of time.
This guy is so unorganized and takes forever to give back graded work. He is constantly talking about himself and how he did such a great job at previous places of employment. He never uses all the required texts for the class, and shows up late every damn day. DON'T TAKE THE CLASS!
Just take notes, no need to read....easy A if u take good notes. I took at least 4 of his classes and he uses the same notes in most of them. Tells bad jokes that seem prerehearsed. Usually late, attendance really doesn't matter. definition of biased. Don't voice liberal opinions and u will be ok
I don't think you can fully appreciate Dr. Greenawalt unless you're a govt major. His class is actually REALLY easy. Don't even bother with text books-YOU'LL NEVER USE THEM. He uses notes from WAY back in the day-just write it all down. Essay exams - NOT as dificult as he makes them seem. SOLID A
Greenawalt's classes lacked focus and direction. He uses very old notes and shows up late. To his credit, he has a lot of experience in administration and is very nice. His tests are very easy and tells you the questions beforehand. However, he needs to take lessons from some better professors in the department like Dr. Glenn.
dreadful, awful, WORST prof EVER. He was so very politically biased and tolerated no dissent. He was extremely anti-academic and shameful to any scholarly institute like Millersville. I disagreed with his political propaganda, and therefore he refused to give me an A, though all my exams showed no criticism, and he refused to help me outside of class. I almost regret going to college because of him- he ruined my GPA so I can't go to grad school now. He is a disgrace to MU.
Horridly inept.
BORING. takes 3 classes to each something that could be done in 15 min. only hw is reading and never matches is lecture. Uses notes and things he cant back up, like the TEXAS ANALOGY. BORING CLASS. cant stress that enough. Tells to many storys about everything! he does have study session before test in SMC and gives questions to all essay test befo
I love this guy! Yeah, he does go off on tangents and doesn't follow the syllabus but he's a total riot and can make a dull subject come to life through his wacky personality. His class is easy too. Give him a chance. And he likes students who answer his questions.
gives all essay test, which are not really essays. basically its write everything he rambled about in the past 6 weeks up until the test in a paragraph in 50 minutes. No style needed, no thesis needed. Its not an essay, theres no question to answer, and make sure you include ALL the information or you will not get an A. tests are only grades.
Easy class but not an effective professor;' doesn't follow syllabus and never allows discussion. Something creepy about the guy, I bet he has alot of skeletons in his closet. I don't trust him.
DO NOT BUY THE BOOK IT IS A WASTE OF UR MONEY. TALK SO MUCH ABOUT STUPID STUFF THAT YOU ASK UR SELF WHY DID YOU COME TO CLASS. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE TOO
Boring class! He doesn't follow the syllabus and the textbooks he assigns are not necessary. No need to buy them. All you need to do is take good notes (write down everything he says) and regurgitate it for the test. Did I say his class was boring?
class can be so boring at times. take a lot of notes it will help on tests which are mainly all essays, and all you have to do is memorize your notes. hes a good guy, tells funny stories. you will hate the class, do what he says and you'll get an A.
I love Dr. G! Although the classes are not that demanding - I learned a lot. He has years and years of knowledge and experience. He also could quite possibly be the nicest person I know. He may not be a regurgitation of an encyclopedia - but he has just as much to offer as anybody else. An asset to the department (in his OWN way).
boring and hard to understand. Not an effective teacher...dont recommend him
Charlie is a wonderful man with a wealth of knowledge to share with students. Although he gets off topic sometimes, he would be willing to bend over backwards for a student if they needed help. He's a good, decent guy with experience in his field.
Adults will know the value and real-world applications of this course. Prof. has a wealth of experiance and is a die-hard giver/humanitarian. Write clear notes and re-read them after each class, even just 10 minutes at night 3 times a week, you will get an A. He is a diplomatic type so B.S doesn't get passed him. Boring, but real subject-matter.
semi-interesting. i'm not sure what to think about him. he seems willing to help, nice, and all that jazz, but at the same time can seem rude and belittling. i've got mixed feelings about this guy.
he's a real nice guy but we all know that counts for nothing. he expects a lot out of you and the class can be boring. but if you try hard enough you can do fine. bring him a hershey bar and he will love you
Greenawalt is a great prof! You need to take him more than once to really appreciate him. His classes are a breeze even though lectures can be boring. Make sure you write down everything he says and do the occasional reading. He uses similar notes for all his classes and tells the same stories over and over.
Charlie Greenawalt is crazy and out there but he is such a nice guy. Very helpful. To quote a friend, "Charlie isn't stupid he's just confused." He is really smart but sometimes out there. Easy grader. Always get a laugh out of his class. One ten-page paper, a midterm, a final that's it. That's how it was for all 4 classes I've taken with him.
Took 5 classes because he teaches so many he fit into my schedule. He was a pretty good prof. VERY old school Reagan Republican (I'M a Republican and he was conservative for me). Was willing to be helpful though, when I was sick the class where he gave out the questions for the exam, he gave me the questions and another week to study.

Very difficult, writing-intensive tests.. even for intro level courses.
he dropped the ball on a few things, gets lost in personal stories, but overall, liveable

This class is pretty easy, but very boring. He lectures every class. There is one essay test. A take home test and a multiple choice final. Besides the test you are graded on participation and portfolio assignments. Greenwalt is very helpful if you do not understand something.
Dr. G is the man!
If you don't want to learn anything about government and just want to hear a professor's beliefs about wal-mart taking over the world, take this class. 90% of the sections with be a waste of your life.
Intro to State and Local Government: A squirrely man who likes to go on personal tangents about all of his accomplishments in life. The first test was essay (he likes dates and names, then a take home essay, and the final was hard because he skipped the review session. He isn't too hard, but he doesnt seem to care about this class.
This guy is a wonderful professor, and really cares about what he is teaching, and going on in the world. I took him because if you do the work, you will get an A... He has his moments of going off on tangents, but what professor doesnt?! Good guy, highly recommend him!
He knows what he is talking about, just doesn't know how to teach it.Very nice personality and is willing to h
A accurate assesment: Dr. Greenawalt is not entertaining, but he is knowledgable, concerned, and stays up on current events. Memorize the information and you will be fine on tests. Papers - use correct format! He's really too busy to be an outstanding Professor- slow to correct work, etc. Bottom line, he's a good guy and an above average professor.
Dr. Greenawalt is such a good guy that you can't stay mad at him for taking 3 weeks to return an exam. Or for constantly being 5 minutes late. Or deviating from the syllabus. Goes off on multiple tangents on any given day, so I recommend being a very adaptable person before ever taking his classes. Extremely knowledgeable and animated.
Probably the best prof in the government department. His personal experiences and stories really give you good insight into the material. One of the few Republican profs at MU. Downsides are that he can be a difficult grader, and he takes a very long time to hand back graded material.
Where to begin with Dr.Greenawalt. First off the comment about him being 5 minutes late everyday is very true. The guy knows ALOT about Public Admin. He may not be very interesting but just try to listen to about 75% of the things that come out of his mouth and you'll get at least a B. Still waiting for some of my work back...
He's a very opinionated man who believes strong that America could be better then it actually is. If you don't like hard test do not take him but if you like to be challenged from a completely different professor then most in the major, go for it.
Greenawalt is a really smart guy, and his main concern is that you actually learn the material. Take good notes and you should be fine. He will scare you into thinking the class is a lot harder than it really is, it is not that bad. He gets off topic really easily but he knows what he is talking about. Overall this class wasn't bad

He will scare you into thinking the class is a lot harder than it really is, it is not that bad. He gets off topic really easily but he knows what he is talking about. Overall this class was relatively easy.
One of the nicest prof. however, he's an extremely right wing conservative bias prof. if you disagree with him he wont let you talk. he shows up around 10-15 min late to almost every class. and doesn't follow the sylb. none the less easy A i like him as a guy but he's not a good prof.
good professor bad memory and is always behind schedule
Will NEVER remember your name. Tells TONS of stories. Variety of test formats which is helpful. 4 tests & 10 portfolio assmt(easy). STUDY for tests! Nice & helpful but can be confusing. Wouldn't take if your a SOWK major & he'll tell you that from the start. Funny guy & easy to talk to.
always late.just simply didnt show up for class like 3times with no email or note from secretary. mixed my test w/other class then asked me if i actually took it..wtf?? i didnt have a final grade for like a month and it messed with my financial aid until i went to chair/registrar to get it handled because i knew i passed. only(+) was study sessions
I liked him. he's always late, but has funny excuses. I kind of always felt lost in class, but I worked hard and ended up with an A. He gives test questions out before the test, has a right wing bias but so do I so I enjoyed it, since it's so rare on this campus. He LOVES the philly's, talks about them all the time which was kind of boring to me.
He is super conservative. Very unorganized and spends the majority of class on some off-topic subject. He does know his material, but I feel as if he's teaching us only the material that supports his opinions. His tests are essays, there's usually alot to memorize but he's an easy grader.
Dr. Greenawalt is a terrible professor. He gives notes according to a chapter he wrote in a book, years ago. He says things in class and then never follows through with them. He isn't helpful or fair. His exams are stuff he makes up in his head. I don't recommend him to anyone, if you can help it.
HE IS HORRIBLE! he be-littles you and makes you feel less than, very unorganized, gives the wrong syllabus then never gives the right one, he's a jerk and very unprofessional, worst experience of my life with him. Keep your opinons to yourself, OR don't make fun of someone when they do give an opinion.. ughh
Greenawaldt is one of those people who is super smart but just can't articulate as well has he used to...he gives us the story the first class, gets off topic easily. Late to class 5-10mins every day. He is not shy about telling you his political leanings. Exams can be tough, make sure to study. Time and patience is best when trying to get help.
Don't believe any negative comments about Greenawalt. Yes, he is 5-10 minutes late to class and he goes off and tells stories that might not be relevent, but he is a great professor. Give the guy a break. He enjoys his job and wants to provide personal stories other than what the textbook says, big deal. He is intelligent and very helpful.
Greenawalt is a good prof. The more I've had him the more I get used to how he runs his class. Does go off on irrelevant tangents frequently but other than that the class runs smooth.
never comes to class on time. tells stories that have nothing to do with the class. wish i had never taken his class
I absolutely hated this class. First of all, he'd ramble about things that had nothing to do with the lesson, and then in the last 15 minutes try and cram everything in for the tests. His tests are some of the hardest I've taken, and he's not really much help outside of the classroom. Oh, and sometimes, he just doesn't show up to class.
Greenawalt was always at least 10 minutes late to class. He showed up on time once and got mad at a student that was only a minute late. He doesn't allow students to eat ANYTHING in his class including gum. He asked students to leave class for the dumbest reasons.
Good professor. He goes off in tangents a lot but he is willing to help you and did give us the opportunity to do something to boost our grade. He had an essay test, a paper, and 2 multiple choice test (one was the final). He'll add points to your score if the class does poorly. Cancels classes. Would recommend.. taking him again now!
NEVER showed up on time! And when he did show up to class he would spend 20 minutes talking about the Phillies or bad drivers or anything that had NOTHING to do with the class. After his ramblings he would lecture the entire time but only get a few main ideas across. He would go off on tangents CONSTANTLY. Class was a HUGE waste of money.
Even though he is 5 minutes or so late. I have learned so much for him. He is a very smart guy and knows what he is talking about. The class is challenging but this is college guys. Nobody said it was gonna be easy!
Always at least 7 min late. He'll tell you that he is going to do or post something and he never does it or does it at the last minute. Doesn't provide guidelines for writing papers. Has tempertantrums like a 3 yr old for people arriving late. Out of touch with students. He's bright, generally nice but I could have learned more elsewhere.
This guy is no easy A but an easy B...his curve for the class is basicly 3% get As and everyone else gets Bs...he screwed me over with my grade because he didnt truely follow his point allocation described in his own rubric....and words from the wise his extra credit didnt do anything for me....i figured wearing a suit to class 6 times and going to 2 extra credit movies resulted in a .25% boost in my final grade....all in all he would of been terminates 20 years ago if it weren't for tenure
Very inconsistent/unreliable. Late to every class. Easily offended. Despite all these things it was a useful class and he has a vast knowledge of PubAdmin based on experience. Very conservative but variety is the spice of life.
He cancelled classes 20 mins before class time. Always came late. Boring lectures. He is very knowledgable. Read the textbook, because it will be VERY helpful on the tests. if you don't read or look over your notes for tests, you will definitely not do well. Feel free to do extra credit, but it won't help.
This guy is ridiculous! If it wasn't for tenure this guy should have been fired YEARS ago! Very confusing and cannot teach! Would not recommed for anyone to take. If your a social work major try to take Govt 111 with a good teacher that can teach.
I took his 112 class as a senior so I found it extremely easy. Freshmen don't like his tests because they are essay and I guess they don't know how to study yet. He is definitely scatter-brained but he cares very deeply for his students.
Greenawalt knew the material like the back of his hand, however he tends to wander off on some story about how he was connected to the legislature years ago. Tests are no surprise, he sets up a study session before each one, but if he runs out of time in the semester the material not covered is still on the exam. Didn't learn a whole lot.
Great prof! Loved his teaching methods. PowerPoints everyday but he e-mails you them all before the test. Study them for the 4 open essay tests and you'll do well. He's very fair with giving extra credit. Go to class and you'll get an A.
Great Professor!! Knew his material very well and could convey it to the students. Sure he would get sidetracked but it was usually had something to do with the subject he was teaching!!
You'll like him more if you're into politics, but he's a good teacher. He's very enthusiastic about his job and knows a lot.
Worst professor I've had at MU. I felt like he talked down to students, and was very outspoken about his political views. I came here wanting to continue studying political science, but after my experience with him, I do not want to take any more courses in the department.
Not recommended at all.
He is an ok professor. If you walk in late to his class for some reason he will stop talking and stare at you until you sit down. So far we've had one in class essay test and have a multiple choice test coming up. He is not very respectful either. If you can find another professor, you are doing yourself a favor.
If you have an opinion left of center, don't say a word in his class. Cancels class often, without notice, more often than not. He gets pissed if you aren't up to date on current events, down to the minute. He WILL criticize you for it as well. Smart guy, but definitely doesn't belong in the University setting.
I don't know why Greenawalt has so many poor reviews, he's amazing and I hate politics. He's very knowledgable! Yes he drifts off into other stories but some are to help remember material and others for fun ! He's a very pleasant man in my class. He gave us the questions before hand and had study sessions and answered all questions. I'd take again
Such an interesting guy. His notes were kind of difficult to follow (paragraphs in PowerPoint slides). Can be moody. Explains material well. Holds study sessions before exams. He's been everywhere and done everything. Neat guy!!
I read all the horror stories about Professor Greenawalt and almost dropped his class. He really isn't as bad as everyone puts. He knows his stuff. He doesn't like cell phones and I agree. His tests aren't terribly horrible, he doesn't yell at people, I just haven't seen what others post on him. He truly cares about his students...
He was an okay professor. His power points were extremely wordy and you have to take a ton of notes. He rambles a lot during class and hardly pays attention to students and doesn't take time to answer questions. Doesn't give much feedback on paperstests and doesn't grade very well. Don't take this class if you don't have to!
Let me just say worst professor ever.... First off there are only three grades in the class, two essay test and a research paper. His lectures are boring, he reads off the power point slides word for word, they put me to sleep. Sometimes he will go off topic and talk about Hershey and the good ole days. Tough grader and horrible professor.
Great guy but, is an unprofessional professor. He is late to class, never responds to emails and it late in returning work. We had a 10 page course paper due and he returned our rough draft the Monday of finals week. For tests you may know the information but he only checks for the vocab you used and grades off that for the three easy exams.
Great Professor! Lectures are easy to follow (even if you do end up with a hand cramp by the end of class), and assignmentstests are explained in detailed. Pay attention in class, study the notes he gives (really just memorize the PPT slides), do the paper and you can easily do well in this class. He knows this subject and you can tell it!
Acts like he wants to help you but very offended if you ask him questions for clarity. Do not take him unless this is your major, avoid him! I am a very motivated and responsible student but this guy really pushes your limits. He drags out his lectures and you have limited time to study for the exams. Also a long term paper mixed in.
Taken him for 5 different courses. Easy test, even gives you a question or two ahead of time to study. Copy a lot of notes but his study guides are clear cut. Great professor straight forward and kind individual. He really loves his job.
I would not recommend this class unless you have to take it. He rambles and is very confusing when he teaches during class. His lectures and the assigned reading in the books, both have very different information content. Sometimes during class he will talk for half the class about random things that may or may not be on the tests.
Takes attendance. Gives exams in a variety of formats (in-class essay, multiple choice, take home essay). PowerPoints are wordy & take a while to copy down, but he'll leave a slide up longer if you just ask. Tells lots of personal stories - some related to material, others not so much. Exams are easy as long as you study your notes.
gets moody, if you don't believe with his opinion and aren't up to date on things he will try to make you feel bad. Things he knows everything. Nice enough guy but not meant to be a teacher.
Greenawalt was one of the worst profs I've ever had.
If you go to class and pay attention you will not only do well, but also learn a good deal about our amazing country. He gives crazy interesting lectures full of odd facts and historical references. He is passionate about what he does and it shows in the way he prepares for class. Do not be late, he really hates that.
Greenawalt is all around a sweet guy who cares about what he teaches. He grades essays with a ton of leniency (and he gives you the questions in advance) and his tests are very straight forward. He is pretty conservative, so if that's a deal breaker for you, don't take him. He goes on tangents a lot, but he's a well of knowledge.
This is my second class taking Dr. Greenawalt, and all I can say is this man loves to teach. He is a great professor, and truly cares for his students. Sometimes his lectures become vague, but he is very vibrant in what he talks about. Do not get on his bad side, or he will hold it against you. Defintely would take again if given the choice.
He's a great professor! You'll be reading a lot! On the paper, he gives very good feedback. You only have a midterm, paper, and final.
My second time taking him. I love the guy; he really cares about his students and his job. Speaks the truth and has a lot of connections in the govt. So if you're a govt major get to know this guy and be on his good side.
Easy. Just study. Although he does like to call on people even if they don't know the answer and he'll just awkwardly wait until you get the answer.
Greenawalt is the strange sort of professor that is so involved in his field, that whenever he tries to explain a concept, he always ends up lecturing on and on about his personal life and relationships he has with people in government. Hes not all that bad, but class is kind of a bore. Also if you care for political correctness, skip this one.
Greenawalt is a very sweet guy who is incredibly knowledgeable about the stuff he teaches, but he's a pushover. He lets the class get off topic far too often and I ended up feeling like I was listening to people tell their life stories instead of learning anything. The material was difficult, but he wants his students to pass.
get ready to teach yourself the class to pass because he doesn't teach anything that's in the book or in the textbook
Dr. Greenawalt's lectures are well-organized and informative. He has a lot of experience in his field which can provide valuable insight on a topic. Review the notes from his powerpoints and the textbook. He's available outside of class and does care about his students. If you show up regularly to class and study for his exams, you'll do well.
Dr. Greenawalt is a really great guy. His lectures are some of the best and most organized I've ever had. He's very knowledgable in government and politics. He really cares about his students. Take some time to learn about what's happening in local/state news though! He'll ask about it frequently, and he expects you to know at least a bit.
Dr. Greenawalt is an old conservative man that thinks Government classes are solely comprised of his personal anecdotes and political opinions. He assigns major projects verbally and gives no grading criteria for anything. He, also, assumes that you should know all about Pennsylvania government and gets upset when no one knows.
Greenawalt is one of the best professors that I have had. I highly recommend taking his class.
Originally, I didn't think I would like this class. But, at the end, I learned a lot of valuable material and I enjoyed the class. The issues are that he gets off topic when it comes to lectures and you only have three test grades, a portfolio, and a final, so make sure you're putting you best foot first there.
Greenawalt isn't a bad guy, but his class is an utter joke. His teaching takes a backseat to his tangents, which are often politically charged. Grade wise, for his essays, there are NO RUBRICS. This means you can ace all the tests and still get below an A because he grades based off his 'feeling' and not legit criteria. Super unfair overall.
Dr. Greenwalt is very conservative. If you give a response he doesn't agree with, he will make you feel stupid/embarassed. He also gets off topic every single class, which results in learning nothing. 4 exams and a bunch of portfolio assingments. Did not touch the textbooks once all semester. Class itself was tolerable, but not enjoyable.
He needs to realize that a majority of his students arent government majors. If we dont know the answer to a question he asks, he acts shocked and disgusted. He gets off topic in the blink of an eye and we spend the whole class talking about something irrelevant. Theres 4 exams; 2 essays and 2 multiple choice qs. If you take him good luck.
He is who he is. It's a lecture based class so if you can sit and write notes for an hour, you'll survive. His behavior and views are a bit traditional but you just kind of have to put up with it. The exams are easy if you study and you have to do a portfolio with 5-6 one page responses based on current events. Very doable.
Worst professor I have ever had. I cannot express enough that you will be better off taking a different professor, especially if you are a government major who needs to know this info well. His negative attitude and 30 minute tangents really ruin the whole learning experience. Avoid avoid avoid.
Dr. Greenawalt can be tough to stand because of his tangents and rants. His teaching style is to show a power point and have you take notes, he wants you to take good notes. If you can sit through his class without audibly saying ok boomer then youll probably make it.
Can't stand sitting through a 50 minute lecture? This class definitely is not for you. Not to mention, if you have different views than Dr. Greenawalt, he will argue with you and make sure you know his point of view. There are also only 3 tests. Portfolio assignments (4) and a final test. So, if you bomb a test, better hope the rest go well.
Exams are awful, 2-3 very broad questions that hell grade tough even though there are no guidelines. Classes consists more of his tangents than what we are actually graded on. Can be very friendly or outright rude depending on the day. Hes really not meant to teach, I regret taking his class.
Dr. Greenawalt is extremely patronizing and it shows. He goes out of his way to humiliate students. My advice if you take him, sit in the back and don't ever participate. He thrives off of any opportunity he gets to make a student feel small. He is the most baffling person I have ever met. Good luck if you take him, you will need it.
Probably the worst prof I've ever had. Before he began the class he announced that he wasn't "politically correct." He would call on students randomly and then make them feel stupid when they didn't know the answer. His tests were on material we didn't cover. He expects all of his students to have a background in US and local government history.
Worst professor I've ever had. Talks about himself all the time, and doesn't seem to care about students at all. Could barely sit in his class.
All of the people on here complaining about this professor simply were unwilling to put in the work towards undertanding the history of American Government. This man is an encyclopedia of History. Every lecture is full of useful information that helps students undertsand the beauty and faults of American Government. He is a gift to students by MU.
Most of his lectures were spent talking about himself instead of the actual material. If you need to contact him, good luck. It can take multiple days to weeks to hear anything... if anything.
This was one of the worst classes i have taken. I think with being online he should have put some effort into this class. I took State and Local Goverment with him and everthing was not organized. We were graded on three tests and it would take 1-2 months for us to get out results back. He fell asleep in his recoreded lectures.
He posts video lectures on YouTube and the slides on D2L that's it. No communication at all during the entire semester. Your grade is only based off 2 essay exams and a 10 page research paper. He does not use D2L for assignments, everything is over email. He will not enter any grades until after the semester is over so you you have to just guess.
Dr. Greenawalt is the worst professor I've had at MU. He does not communicate with the class at all and only grades based on three assignments. He grades hard even though he provides no grading criteria whatsoever. He does not grade during the semester, so you need to wait until it is over to know how you did.
Async lectures through Youtube with slideshows; that's all you get for your tuition dollars. Graded on only three things throughout the entire semester with no criteria; you're basically gonna have to wing it. Pretty sure I only received 3 emails from him throughout the whole semester. Maybe in person is different, but online async SUCKS.
