this teacher is a terrible lecturer..never looked forward to going to class. His lectures were slow, long and it put me in a coma. Very boring teacher. Do not recommmend. Probably impossible to get an A in this class.
This class was ok. Just study quizzes and slides and vocabulary and you will pass. I was surprised class was so easy. Nice teacher you don't need the book I never got it and I got a B. 4 test and that includes the final no homework, quizzes or essays. If you study you will pass. HINT: LOOK AT PRACTICE QUIZZES CLOSELY
Overall, this class wasn;t that difficult, I do agree with a comment that someone else made and that is this "I think is impossible to make an A" I made a High C. There's no homework but when it comes to the test, you better know your stuff.
No textbook needed. Lectures were boring. just studied his chapters reviews, and got a B. No one got an A. Doesn't drop lowest grade.It's clear that he's a liberal/democrat. He shows these articles and talks about current events that are always negative.He should just come out and say 'Bush Sucks', and move on.
He tutors anyone who needs help before class. You don't need a book. Attendence isn't mandatory, but you should go because it's very useful. If you don't go, you'll probaly fail or get a low low grade. Sometimes it gets boring, but he's really into the class communicating and learning verbally. There's also a group project that's pretty easy too.
Hey look i just took him for summer 2 June 2008 . The other reviews say that it is impossible to make an A. Thats a lie , I made a 92, 100 , and 100. How does somebody make a 100 on a test i'll tell you how on the first day of school he will tell you that you dont need a book, dont listen to him you need it , I'm the student he's the teacher I know
Good teacher in genaral, you don't need the book. STudy the review and a B is a guarantee.
I took his guided studies class... and it is like solid politics. He's super liberal and all he talks about is how conservatives are stupid etc. I wouldn't recommend his class unless you're liberal and love expressing it.
All exams essay form - he gives 10 questions for review - 6 will be on exam - if you study you will do good - no papers to write - just 4 exams including final - good teacher will take him again
He is so easy. I got B econ2301 and got A econ 2302.If u lazy u can take him because we don't have homework and quizz and nothing doing in class and home.no research paper and presenration...

Love him so much...really easy, If your grades below 70, u can do it again at home and get an A.no quiz, no home work...just 3 test include final...unbelievable, so easy class of economic...I take both class economic 2301 & 2302 and get A already...no more class of Economic I can take...love him so much
oh man...a nice guy.Nobody in class fall this class.he is so easy...I took this fall and did not nothing, just ready 2 hours before test and I got B this class...No quiz, no homework,...In addition, the test easy too...high recommend. His home campus in northwest but sometimes, he still in Southwest as alief and west loop.

If you want to learn somthing about Economics then take this professor. He is very interesting and teaches the subject so that you can understand. His test are all essay so make sure you study and go to class. He doesn't give quizzes in the summer but you do have a large group project. Overall I highly recommend this professor
Pretty awesome professor. Took him for summer 1, he gives you the test questions beforehand, you study them, he chooses random ones. 3 tests overall, and one group paper. He is REALLY patient, and nice/helpful. Take him!
If you honest person, DON'T take him.If you have ability to CHEAT... take him, you'll get A/B coz everybody copied from cellphone or paper under paperwork...TERRIBLE. This prof doesnt put any respect to honest student at all.
he's very laid back 3 test no homework,you have to be in class to take the extra notes with the powerpoint its easy if you study and take advantage of the test he gives you before hand,he talks fast,so pay attention, and he's very unclear but he'll try to use many examples to help you when you ask.take this class if you are willing to pay attention
His class was very easy, I didn't buy the textbook and I aced the Class. Three tests with one group project. I thought it was a really easy class, and I'm in high school so yeah. He has an interesting way of comparing things to everyday life which made it a little more understandable. I'd take his class anytime

he gives 3 tests and 1 group paper. The first test easy, the the second test hard, and the final super hard. You need a book. You can't pass without one. He doesn't explain well. I never went to class only on test days because he was a waste because he makes no sense. I got a B because he gives test out before time. ALl essay questions.
EVERYBODY who has to take economics 2301 or 2302 for there major, DO NOT take this teacher. His test are hard cause he is picky ass hell. You can find all the information you need to answer the question to the test, but if it is not good enough for him, then you FAILED that test. He gives 3 essay tests (6 questions) and a 25 page research paper.

Horrible teacher. Doesnt make students attend class. Doest slow down and doesnt help. Gives 3 essay test and a 25pg paper. Exams reviews are not helpful seeing hell give you 12 essays to write and only quiz you on 6 of them at random choice so you wont know which...... I feel this class in unfair because of few grades to give and team members.
there is only one guy got an A, two got a B (including me) in my class. don't take this prof if you want an easy class

he doesnt require a textbook. he teaches through use of powerpoints so i found it very useful to print the powerpoint notes before going to class...that way you dont have to take many notes. he gives examples and always gives answers to the essay questions. he gave 3 tests and 1 group project.
If it weren?t for the 5 page research paper I would?ve gotten an A. there is no multiple chose on any of his exams. But he will give u 10 questions with their answer and 6 of them will be your test. That goes for every of his 3 exams.
The class is unfair you only have 3 test that consist of written essay questions. He gives 12 questions but the day of the test he gives 6 not telling students which. You have to be very specific on the questions or he takes off points.(REALLY NEED TO BE SPECIFIC). The group project you have to rely on other people for the project. Not good.
as a econ class useless as a liberal sociology pretty good..... do not take this class you will learn little about econ but you will learn how evil corporations are.
This was probably the hardest class i have ever had to take! He gives you 3 essay exams (each with 6 questions) and he expects you to write everything he teaches AND go off and research more info on your own. He does give you the questions in advance but if you ask him for help, he just says "write everything you know". REALLY TOUGH GRADER!!!
He explains good, but his tests are extremely long and hard. You have to memorize everything if u wanna finish the tests.
These comments are so misleading. im taking him right now and i literally have a 99 average. you just have to know how to study, dont take notes. just answer questions from test as you go. he gives u test questions before hand. answer them, memorize them and its an easy 100 and make sure u get a good group that will get the research paper done!
GREAT! Micro-got a B. I would NOT call his class easy. You have to keep up with the material. 1) He GIVES you the exam question WEEKS before the test. Do the questions before hand. 2) 25 pg GROUP project due @ the end of the semester.We complained about Test 1 about how much studying we had to do-30hrs. He gave us open notes on the next two exams!
He is hard does explain and ask questions in class personality wise he is nice and knows what he is talking about. But his tests look hard taking one soon he gave us 12 questions 6 will be on the test. He wants 2 pages of answer/question and we only get 2 hours seriously!!!!Thinking about dropping his class. I took his class last semester,and it was a decent experience. I Did not use the text book much, just studied from what he gave us, he even says its your choice to use it.He is experienced in the field of Eco and I liked that. Exams were hard but manageable if I studied all night. Group essay was easy, it was just two essays from each member.
Let me tell you guys something true! This professor taught total 5 classes, and about 150 students! However, more than 90 students who dropped this class b/c he is a hard grader and he gives lots questions in an exam that you cannot finish! Can you imagine only 5 students out of 31 passed the exams? Most of students just got 40 or even below that!
He is the worst teacher that I have never had before.He is a hard grader and he gives lots of questions in exams, and half of my class couldn't finish.My class has 31 students and more than 15 dropped and only one person got A. Most students got 40 or even below that in exams.I swear to the God if you take him you'll have 70% chance to get an F.
Professor Hackner doesn't look very exited about teaching. He allows for too much class discussion instead of lecturing. His tests are pure memorization, consisting of essay questions that you must answer with "details". this approach doesn't encourage understanding nor is challenging, just boring and tedious memorization of PP slides.

There are only three test. Professor Hackner constantly jumps around and is very hard to follow. I would not recommend a friend to take him. He is a very wise man, but students are not on his level yet.

I took this class online for summer session (4 weeks). Overall lectures are not very clear. 3 exams (100% of final grade) - 6 essay type questions out of 10 to 12 questions from exam reviews. He is very picky about how you answer them. Class was difficult, would not recommend to anyone!!!
Yeah, i don't know why he doesn't use a book...it's harder to focus since he jumps around a lot. hes nice and all but can't explain for his life...and his essay structures are weird. YOu have to prepare from before since there are only three tests... i dont know what i was thinking tbh
When answering his study questions online make sure to use his audio and slides available. This will help narrow exactly what he is looking for on essay questions. Expect to spend a minimum of 15-20 hours per exam studying. They're 33% of you're grade, if you do not take it serious you will find yourself in a stressful situation. Avoid if possible.
I read the ratings prior to taking the mini class and I was scared out of my mind. But the ratings told me what to expect. My suggestions: listen to his audios and follow along with the powerpoints. Listen to audios over and over again until they make sense to you. Don't do it if you don't have the time to commit.
Took Mr Hackner for Econ 2301 in the spring, online. Everything in these ratings is true. On campus essay test with 6 questions given out of a list of 12 or so. If you do the coursework he give online and work the questions as you review his material you will not have any trouble. My Grade average was a middle B, but got an A on the final grade
So much material in a little time, the only way you can pass this class is by knowing the material yourself. very HARD on grading.
This Prof. Doesnt have any kind of sympathy. no extra credit , no nothing, just 3 exams will determine ur final grade. I hope he gets kicked out soon.
Hardest tests ever. If you don't have 8+ hours per week to devote to studying for this class you will be in trouble. Most of my class failed the first exam. He is picky on how he wants the answers structured and expects too much detail for the 1.5 hours we have to write the answers. If you need to take economics take someone else.

i took this class online IN FALL without textbook i got an A. if you follow the power point and audio at the same time it would be easier. i recommend you to take his class, he is awesome professor.
If you have good study habits, and give a decent amount of effort to studying for this course you will pass. If you want an A you will have to work hard, but it is not impossible. He recognizes when you are trying and will try to work with you if you communicate. Tips: Ask questions, read the power points, write quickly on the exams, STUDY A LOT!
In a semester, I wrote more than 100 pages essay. No test in class, for the essays are the tests. You have to write about everything "he" covers in class, In class we had discussions. Actually I was like taking an online course because you need to teach yourself with the slides and audios he uploaded on the learning web. BUT, I learned a lot.
Professor Hackner is very intelligent and knowledgeable. He knows it all. you learn a lot of economics and its applications to real life situations and not just its theories. Attend class, participate in discussions, his tests are essay based, Just use the slide and the audios for them and you'll be getting an A. AVOID PROCRASTINATING
The homework is long so get a group together to assign each person a problem and then email your answers to each other. All test start at 8 and have to be turned in by 10 am or you will lose 30 pts. NO BOOKS, all info is in power point and his recordings. You will pass if you do this. Do it on your own and it will seem hard & long. Good luck!
There is way too much work assigned. I emailed him several times and never received a response from him just to find out he gave me an F. I asked him for feedback several times, and never heard from him. I do not recommend this class. My first F ever.
If you participate and listen to the audios and do the assigned practice questions that he gives you, writing as much as you can, and really being as precise as you can, you will be fine. WARNING: DO NOT SLACK AROUND IN THIS CLASS OR YOU WILL FAIL He is definitely a tough grader so be prepared to work really really hard.

Extremely nice guy, but his test are ridiculous. Expect to write a 10 page essay, and only turn in 5, and if you're lucky maybe you'll get a C. That's probably unlikely though, considering everyone fails the exams. Avoid taking this class.
Shouldve dropped this class when i had the chance. Like people before me have said you'll write 25 page essays for a test but end up only using 6 or so pages. Expects you to teach yourself and wants you to elaborate the hell out of the answers on the test. Honestly way too much work for someone with other classes and a part-time job. Hope i pass
You'll learn A LOT with this professor but ONLY IF you do the work. He expects you to teach yourself with the slides&lectures on learning web, and to bring questions in class, so that y'all can have discussions. If you major in business and ready to study very hard for your learning, he is the best professor. If not, you'd end up failing miserably
This was the first class that challenged me, and I respect Hackner for that. In the beginning of the semester he gives you 25 essay questions with clear guidelines of what needs to be included in each response. You'll turn in 6 essay questions per exam (3). Write all 25 essays and you will make an A! Procrastination will destroy you GPA!
He has you teach yourself with audio and slides that he provides. As long as you read the information he provides and listen to the audio you will make a good grade. Some additional research is required. He gives 3 exams. Each study guide has 10 questions but only 6 on the exam. Answer all the questions and you'll do fine. DO NOT procrastinate!
You do not have to purchase a textbook for his class, he has all of his audio lectures and power point notes online. You're graded on 3 essay exams that he gives you the questions to. Very simple, macro was so easy i should've took it online, it was pointless to come to class. I'm taking his micro this semester online. GOOGLE IS YOUR BESTFRIEND!
I took this class to learn more on Economics. This Professor makes it impossible to learn anything. He wants detail on all questions in the 3 exams you have through the semester. The class is pretty much so up and listen. Impossible to learn anything in your own and the tests are impossible to answer due to Professors poor attitude and grading.
This is worst Economics class that I've ever taken. There is no text book, the Professor makes his own. Your overall grade is determined by 3 exams scores. Good luck passing them since no one does. This professor tends be full of himself. Doesn't respond to emails and expects you to learn the material on your own. Avoid this professor & class!
Be well prepared to write. The class consisted of 3 exams that made up your total grade. The exams are essay format where the professor give you 11 prompts prior to the exam day and only 5 of the prompts will be on the test. (33 prompts total). Be sure to look at all power points and listen to the audio. I tried to skip the audio and failed my 1st
Do your self a favor do not take his class. He uses no textbook, 3 Exams will be to research on everything that is covered in the class. He is vague and with appropriate teaching method that student can benefit. Prof. Please revise your instructional method.
The Professor is by far the most intelligent professor in his field. He not only sees the Economics outside the classroom but he displays it within (no Book)think about it. If you do not understand him it is because you are not giving him your undivided attention. Economics is a very complex subject if you talk to him he will explain, Communicate!!
He is one of the best teacher in HCC I have ever known. Take your time in any subjects if you really think that you need to learn something. Hackner's class is not an exemption. 3 tests become easy if you bring the questions in the potential questions to the class to discuss with him. He is always available for your questions. I did get an A.
DO NOT take this class ! the questions he gives for the exam are insanely long! you get 12 essay type questions per exam, each is equivalent to a 2 page paper! I was taking his 8 week course and this is too much work if you have other classes and responsibilities!
Great professor! Class does not require the use of textbook, as everything is online (lectures). He does tell you what are possible questions on the test but he does give you the answer. no hw, 3 tests which consist of 6 typed essay responses. He is very helpful and wants everyone to pass and tries his best so everyone can understand.
This is by far the most horrible professor i have ever taken. NO textbook, all he does is post 3 hour videos(boring) and powerpoint for you to study. Not clear with instructions at all. I took this class online. Please run away from him. four exams. Each exams had 8-10 questions with 5 questions in each questions. Freaking ridiculous. Terrible!!!!
Lets be honest, MacroEcon is not an "easy, lemon squeezy" course. HOWEVER, Mr. Hackner provides everything you need the 1st day of class. There are 3 exams in an essay format. If you procrastinate, you are bound to fail, but if you chip away at answering 1 question everyday (From the potential questions), then you'll be in good shape on exam day.
great lectures and very helpful professor. He provides all the help and tools to pass the class. Although, he gives you 6 questions on the exam, but as long as you prepare and have them ready by that day, you should be fine. All he asks is to be thorough answering the questions, that the only way for him to see that you understand the question.
He is a nice guy, but a horrible professor! It doesn't help when he grades HARD on his exams. He asks for too much detail on exam answers and even if you got to the point, you're lucky if he gives you full credit. The way that he is a picky grader makes passing so difficult. Just save yourself and don't take his class. You'll regret it.
I've never worked so hard in a class ever! Former student, thank you! You guys are the real MVP! Future students, it'll behoove you to start on your Potential Questions ahead of time, and please listen to his lectures. PQ's are unfortunately time-consuming. However, most of the answers are in his audio, and to be honest, he's pretty hilarious.
He is a very good professor. Only 3 exam. He gave 10-12 questions in the beginning of the class then we need to complete those from his notes and google search. Essay type questions but not bad. On the exam day he ask only 6 of them, so copy the answers and paste then send to him. I took in mini term. so I felt little bit hard. But its OK
We were graded on three exams based on 10-12 essay type questions (thorough and complete responses) that you were given about four weeks to do. When asked how much to write per question he said 5 pages, meaning that you had to write at least 50-60 pages every 4 week. He was also a very tough grader and would leave you very confused during class
I never do professor reviews but I'm going to do this one in hopes that he sees this and you decide NOT to take this class! The work required in this class is unreasonable for an 8 week class after a major disaster (Harvey). 3 exams with 6 essay questions on each which require a page & a half of words per question w/ LOTS of research & no book!

he gives you 12 essay questions which are 5 parts for each question. Then he chooses 6 out of them and gives you 20 questions of multiple choice. NOT RECOMMENDED. if you love doing researches and spending 45 mins on each question, then go for him. TOO MUCH WORK!!!!!
This is more of a teach yourself type of class. as previously stated, 12 questions per exam, 3 exams throughout the semester. of those 12 questions, he asks for 6 questions so its best to do all 12, you dont know what he will ask for. again this is more of a teach yourself class by doing alot of research, if you're a lazy student, i dont recommend
I like this professor! Nothing but 3 exams, (20 multiple choice and 12 written questions), and he picks 6 questions from the written questions for each exam! If you're a lazy student I do not recommend you to take him, but if you can do researchers, study his powerpoint, and do the tests, I'm sure you'll pass with an A or B!
This was the hardest class ever. Please take someone else. You have to teach yourself basically. Have to listen to the audio which is almost 2 hours long. They are so boring would put you to sleep. Have to work really hard if you want to pass this class.
His lectures are a little hard to understand. He gives you a lot of homework questions to prepare for exams. MUST learn by YOURSELF! However, if you try your best, read lots of information from the Internet, Google, his slides, audios, you will pass. He is ALWAYS ready to reply the email to help you the answers until they become perfect. HE IS NICE

Professor Hackner is a great teacher. He is not for everyone and this is a very intense class as I took an eight week, but I promise you will do well if you don't play around. Do your best on the three test he gives you and study study study. I recommend this class if you are a good writer, but if are not then you may struggle a lot. Many did....
I actually passed his class with an A. If you like writing and if you like economics, then I'm sure you'll do good at it. Just make sure you work hard enough for the 3 exams!!!

worst professor. He gives you around 12 questions, and you have to write LONG DETAILED (Im talking 3 page each) answers for ALL of them. Each question could take 3-4 hours. For the exam you have to paste the answer for only 6. You only get 2 hours to submit for the exam. The audio lesson r RIDICULOUS. He is just reading the slides doesn't explain.
3 exams, let me make this clear all of them are free responses (NO MULTIPLE CHOICE). There like 10-12 questions for each of the exams. 1 question takes like 3 hours to do. If you want an "A" you have to strive for it, and put in LOTS of work, not easy. Wrote like 30 to 40 pages for each exam. Each question could be 4 to 7 pages long.
Great professor!!! Took him for a five-week term over the Summer and grateful that I did. He provides both audio and PowerPoint slides online as reference material for answering his essay style questions, which are the exams. Gives feedback on your answers so that you stay on track. Caring guy who genuinely wants students to succeed and do well.
Don't take. Textbook isn't used and he basically just rereads the powerpoint slides in class. He makes up his own textbook. Test are ridiculously tough, get ready to write 12 pages and search for answers, only to submit 1-2 pages. Professor can't teach.

I attempted to take him during the winter mini session, bad choice I EVER made! He have 3 exams. That are not multiple choice, they are essay like exams . Where 1 question takes about 3 hours to complete because its so much material. And he want it detailed! Why squeeze and require so much work for a 3 week class? HAD TO DROP BEFORE IT WAS TO LAT
Great professor!!! i took him for second stars. just tree exams, He provides both audio and PowerPoint slides online as reference material for answering his style questions all of them are free responses. all the exams questions are on the audio just listen and you will past.

Summer 8wk session, 3 exams. No homework, no discussion posts, just a study guide with questions to answer and those questions also make up the exam. His lectures are trash, not enough characters to explain but they are not legit. The average test score for the 1st exam was a 55, the average for the 2nd was a 67. You've been warned!
Don't take this class. To actually read the slides and listen to the audio takes an hour and a half for each section, then he wants you to write long responses to things he didn't go over in the slides or audio. Not worth wasting your time with this professor.
I would highly recommend NOT to take him. Your homework is basically your exam. He typically gives you about 10 essay-like questions and of those, only 6 will be in the actual exam. It took me between 2-3 hours just to finish ONE question. I am taking him for Summer 2 right now... class is only used to ask questions. He can be rude sometimes.

I took Professor Charles during Summer II at HCC to get Econ out of the way. The exams are essay-like and are not easy, but not too hard either. You just have to work for it. The slides and the videos he provides of his lectures pretty much have the answers for most questions. Beware that every question is pretty long. Good luck if you take him.
HCC should really take a close look at this professor. This was the WORST class I have ever had to take. He is none responsive to emails and questions. Very rude and the work he issues, which where 3 exams and each question takes 2-3 hours to answer because it's 100 parts. I regret taking this summer class. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS "WARNING"
RUN AWAY! Lectures are all online even for on-campus classes, but he takes attendance! Expects you to study PP slides and 1.5 hour lecture at home! "Tests" are 20+ page assignments turned in online on the WEEKEND. 3 group projects due the same days as the tests! Overall disorganized class and his Canvas website is IMPOSSIBLE to navigate.
This is by far the worst teacher i have taken at HCC, and i took it online. He really wasnt help at all, I reached out to him multiple times about this group project that didnt get done bc nobody was responsive. He did nothing. WAYYYY too much expected. Not enough help. RUN FAR FAR AWAYYYYY. this one class is going to prolong my graduation.
Be prepared to read and write a lot. There was so much reading and writing that I honestly forgot it was an economics class. The work was overwhelming and when I reached out to the professor because I was struggling there was a lack of empathy on his part.
I have never written a review for any of my professors, but I genuinely feel like this one is necessary. His "exams" are SO much work and going to his lectures don't really help. I had to complete 2/3 group projects on my own, which are so much work as well, because all my teammates made the smart choice of dropping the class before it was too late
Yeah by far the worst teacher i have had in my whole college career. He actually prevented me from graduating on time. i took his class online. 3 "group" presentations, where nobody could get on the same accord , so that didn't help. and his exams are ridiculous. RUN FAR FAR AWAY. He is rude and unhelpful, and doesn't respond.
Professor Hackner is a great professor. Don't be offset by the disgruntled reviews from students who are not as motivated. His class is incredibly easy to pass if you make sure you do the work. Yes, it is a lot of work, but it is a super easy A, and if you do not understand, he will not stop teaching you until you get it. Great guy.
Took his class online second start. Powerpoints and audio lectures arent bad but the exams are terrible. He gives you 10-12 questions and every question has multiple parts, so be ready to spend a lot of time working on them. Do every question before the test. Besides the tests this class isnt too difficult
I didn't think I'd like him or the understand the true objective of the class. Wrong on both counts. I have been out of college for almost 40 years. He showed patience, and a willingness to work with me, to gain the understanding needed. He grades fairly, understood my weakness for graphs. Yes, there are lots of them. He responds to emails.
You guys, I'm going to be honest, if you're planning to take this course for first or second 8 week course, DON'T. If you are planning to take a MINI course, DON'T, seriously DON'T DO IT. This professor made the test so difficult that within the question of the exams there would be additional questions added to it. Please you guys, SAVE YOUR MONEY.
All of the assignments are online on connect McGraw Hill. I don't see any of his lecture videos but I just teach myself and get the work done. If you are looking for teacher who have lecture, he is not the one.
This class was designed to make you fail, not pass. There were 0 online lectures, he does not reply to emails unless it's for his convenience, and he will not help a struggling student out. I was sick (notified him) and physically unable to do work and he still gave me zeros. The list goes on but this class is just one massive lose-lose situation.
Took his 8 wk class and my only regret is that I didn't take the regular term. He gave 10-12 essay questions to answer for each unit (4 ). Answer as you study and listen to his lectures. H will pick 6 of the 12 questions for the exam. I took the class because it was required and now I am thinking of changing my major. Who knew I'd enjoy ECON.
Does not respond to emails & if he does it is RARE! Beyond frustrating to have such lackidasical professors especially w/everything being online due to covid! His exams are extremely lengthy & unnecessary, so do not wait last minute to complete them. (Each exam has roughly 10 open ended q's. Each q has 3-5 parts totaling about a 50 q exam).goodluck
He is nice. If you don't like to write, don't take his class; if you are finding new things to learn, his class is really helpful. Try to listen to his audios along with the PowerPoint slides (don't do each individually). He gave the class 5 quizzes (super easy) and 3 exams that are super difficult that you need time to prepare for (weeks-months).
Horrible. couldnt answer to emails if his life depended on it. He gives 3 exams where there are questions but like a million parts thinking that we have all the time in the world. If you ask for help he says to look at the slides/to send him all the questions which is absurd. Sends out incomplete link and when you fill it out he says its not valid
The professor is a nice guy himself for the most part, however, his course work is heavy and unless you're jobless and have no other classes this class is too time consuming. I had to drop this class because it got in the way of my other classes. There are only 3 exams and each has 12 questions. Within these questions are more questions. Too much.
Terrible Professor he dosnet answer emails the test are super longer and each question has a question. Personally it wouldn't have been that hard if we met online but we didn't so it made trying to the test that much harder. Only gives 3 exams which sets you up for failure doesn't do extra credit and overall just sucks as a professor. WARNING DONT
If you are a Dual-Credit student with other classes to take and bad procrastination issues, stay VERY far away from Charles Hackner's class. If you have responsibilities like a job or raising a child, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. Honestly, just don't take his class in general, it will just be a waste of time and money. The workload is ungodly.

DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I worked so hard in this class only to get a B. He gives 3 written exams with 12 question with multiple parts. These exams will consume your life and your other classes will suffer. He gives no feedback on your exams to help you better yourself. So many ppl in my class dropped after the first exam. Does not reply to email
His exams are ridiculously long for no reason. 12 questions and each answer have to be at least 3 paragraphs long. Just Run!!!
I took Professor Hackner's BUSI 2305 class online, and it was essentially all in Connect with no lectures, which works for me. You can get an A if you put in the time to understand the material. I also took Hackner for ECON2302 and the class consists of 3 exams for which you can prepare the answers prior. That class is an easy A, just takes time.
For everyone who is complaining about him, Professor Hackner has 3 exams which would be what your grade will pretty much end up being. The reason why his exams are the way they are, is because he wants to make sure you KNOW what you're talking about. So you have to break it all down and show your knowledge of the question. He's for serious students
The assignments are negligible and do not require studying for while the exams are extremely long and in-depth. The exams barely resemble the rest of the course and also carry almost all the weight in grading. It almost seems the goal of the online courses set up is to give people a failing grade or waste their time and money.
Hackner wasn't half bad, 3 major open book tests, just use his lectures and PowerPoints and google some information and your all set. Easy A. All it is copy an paste and add some detail that you understand the subject. There is also some easy homework to help you get a better understanding, due at the end of each test but you have no limit on it.
Professor Hackner gives out 3 assignments the whole semester. That sounds great until you realize that his 3 assignments are tests that end up being about 50 pages each worth of work. While the powerpoints he provides are great, the class is structured without scheduled lectures and without homework to help along the way. Awful course layout.
There are only 3 tests the entire semester. Each test is about 50 pages worth of writing each. Don't take this class unless you just love research papers. No other assignments outside of the 3 tests. No scheduled lectures to help either, just prerecorded audio lessons and powerpoints. Probably a good professor in person, but clearly not online.
I took his online anytime class and let me tell you, you're going to have to teach yourself in this class if you choose this route. 1 hw and 1 quiz assignment per week, but it is each 10-15 questions it is free response on the hw. The hw assignments set you up for the quiz, but if you do online he sends the videos but you'll have to teach yourself
this prof was easy but the course is pretty difficult. do not believe these other posts, he is amazing nice and caring. this class is hard regardless, but this prof is a good prof for the class. everything is on connect exams are not monitored. PROFESSOR is nice but the classis difficult that is what others are complaining about... the difficulty.
connect assignments each week. two attempts on hw one attempt on quizzes. on hw you can check your answer for every question. exam on connect class is hard professor is nice
I took this class summer 2020, and it was brutal, to say the least. While I did get an A, I had to pull a bunch of all-nighters to get the exams in by 8 am. He would give you the questions he would ask ahead of time, but you didn't know which ones he might use; in the end, my exams were around 14 pages long. I had never worked that hard for an A.
Took this course in the summer of 2021 and it was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. There are 3 written exams and that's it. I pulled all nighters trying to finish these exams because you're expected to write detailed answers in each exam. Still earned an A but it was really difficult.
the 3 exam model is clearly faulty, each exam takes ages to do and is tedious, and there's only 3 assignments to grade on so doing poorly on one of them will pretty much guarantee failure
He made me write a 20-page essay for economics one. Do not take this guy.

He doesn't or won't use blackboard to its full capacity so make sure you write down the assignments and dates he says in lecture as there is one place he has them and it is obscure. He has three written assignments that are legitimately 40+ pages long because he wants an extraneous amount of detail yet he is extremely vague in class.
He gives only 3 graded exams, but they consist of 9-13 VERY LONG and DETAILED questions as each has multiple parts, of which he only grades 5, yet you have to answer them all. His recorded lectures barely help at all. DO NOT take him if possible.
There are 3 exams, the first is the longest. Would not recommend it as a mini or summer course. If you dont have any responsibilities besides school then you can do well. I took it as a second start summer course. The work was way too much. I do have a good understanding of micreconomics thanks to those questions.
I was worried at first despite the ratings but I would recommend (the subject is lowkey hard but manageable ). Assignments are on connect, hw and quiz per week, but they aren't due until the following exam day. I took him online on the schedule, from 6pm-8:50pm, he would end class in an 1hr & 30 mins max. Chegg definitely helps a-lot though.
Note that he doesn't use the Canvas grading system. I had an A in the Canva gradebook, but since he uses a spreadsheet to calculate his own grades, he posted my final grade as a B based on his spreadsheet's calculations. He required three 12-page essays for the written assignments which is most of your grade. Lots of easy homework assignments.
I was initially worried at first despite the ratings, but I would recommend it given that assignments are on Knewton Alta and written. Furthermore, I understand the concepts on PowerPoint and Knewton Alta so that I can write 3 written assignments.
Required 15 pages for written assignments on topics that were irrelevant and had nothing to do with Microeconomics. For one of the assignments he gave me a zero because in the syllabus he had it due on the fourth of may. But on canvas he had it as may fifth and then closed the submission on may fifth halfway through the day.
This class is pretty tough, there are three 15 pages essays that you have to do, so be sure to keep that in mind. The coursework is not too hard but can be if you have bad time management. If you work a fulltime job I recommend you do not take this class.
Hackner's class requires some work, but using study aids like unstuck AI alongside the course materials can help you succeed. The exams are tough, but diligent preparation pays off.
Not only will you have 13 page essays (one that has nothing to do with macroeconomics) but he grades them tough and does not mind failing an entire class. No rubrics provided so you can't even figure out what he wants. Homework and tests are easy but the papers alone are worth 50% of your grade and he refuses to give an A on them.
For a one semester course, I had to write two 13+ page essays that were completely unrelated to economics, and he wanted us to use 15 vocabulary words. Again, the prompts for both essays are unrelated to economics, and each one is 26% of your grade. The other assignments aren't difficult, but there's a lot and only worth 15% of your grade.
He is hard to get in contact with.
Literally worst professor EVER. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS if you don't want to be in the dark aboutyour grade,if you don't want to write two 13 page essay, and if don't want your emailed ignored and responded to 10 days later. Worst professor I've ever had. Very inconsiderate, doesn't care about what other classes and stuff you got going on out school.
Avoid this Econ 2302 at all costs for Charles Hackner. 13+ page essays, no formatting instruction or grading rubric to go off of, played the guessing game for my grade the majority of the semester, did not know my grade until the week before my graduation after emailing him. Very hard to communicate with & doesn't mind ignoring you and failing you.
