He is the hardest teacher I've ever had, but I learned more from him in one semester than in all my previous education. Very interesting, and he knows everything. It's a great class, but you will work hard.

He grades hard. All essays i got were C-. Research paper was a B. Passed the class with a B. Hated this class with a passion. But he's funny and sarcastic. old man knows his stuff though.

I had him for two classes and he changed my life. He is a very hard teacher, but he is worth all the hard work in what a person can learn from his teaching. I would recomend him to a student that wants to learn. BRING A LATIN DICTIONARY to Class!!!!

this class gets very small b/c more than half drop. people think he's a hard teacher, but he's very helpful and he wants you to do well. The key is to make a good grade on the first paper and he'll like you from then on. His accent reminds me of Mrs. doubtfire. He gets off track alot in class.

This class is pretty hard, but you'll leave knowing how to write a good paper. You can tell he wants you to do well in the class, he's always offering to set up meetings to help you out with the work. Not only that, but he has some interesting stories to tell. I'd recommend him to anybody.

Tough but fair. Will teach you to write a paper, but he has a way of humbling you. Overall excellent professor - but be prepared to work hard. He is kind when you really do try, and he really wants to see you succeed. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Harrison is VERY well educated and passionate about English lit, and why should he hide it? Dr. HaRRison (at least spell his name right, you unappreciative dolt!) is responsible for my learning to write a proper paper. As a college senior who is majoring in English, I notice that a lot of students who took other profs for their freshman Engl classes are failing because they can't write a paper to save their lives. Dr. Harrison is one instructor who is well worth taking. He is not the easiest, but the benefits you will reap from his knowledge are unlimited. As long as you make an effort, he is willing to help you in any way he can. I highly recommend him!

He is very tough, but very kind and helpful! I really respect him and have learned a lot! I had to put in a lot of effort in his class, but now I know how to write a proper college paper. I would suggest that you take him if you are serious about college and learning how to write a paper. He is very informative and interesting.

i am taking this class right now and we are almost finish. i do not recommend this class for students like me. i am getting another nursing degree and am not going to an university. If you are a sensitive person do not take this class. he is very smart and very knowledgeable, but he makes you feel stupid at times.your papers will be great.

This was the first college level class I have ever taken. I was scared to death the first day of class. Dr.Harrison is a great teacher. He will make time for students that make the effort. amazing english teacher... makes you think... master the format that he teaches and you can write a good paper in an hour for any subject. I would have made an A but I bombed at the very end. the first paper is worth 10% and the last 40% so you can recover from bad first papers...not too much reading. makes the class discuss what they read though

Dr. H is a very intelligent man and is very passionate about his teachings. But he is also very hard if your not into it. If you ask for help on the writing you'll at least pass, but if not you'll defenitly fail. He does get angry a lot if you dont know the answer and is very rude most of the time. But you can learn a lot from him.

Do the reading, jot notes and questions in the margins of your book, be involved in class discussions and--most importantly--pay attention to what he'll teach you about paper writing. I'm an English senior and it's sad to see how many students don't know how to write a simple paper. Learn all you can from Dr. H--you'll need it later!

Super tough. I even hated him. I've always been really good at writing, but apparantly not. He's super intelligent; there is no doubting that. If you're up for the challenge take him. All I know is I'm an A student when it comes to writing, and I recieved a very low C in the class. The key is to set up meetings with him.

Dr. Harrison is an excellent teacher. However, he is quite strict when grading. He gives his students many opportunities to correct their mistakes,and he'll give you extra points if you do. There is a research paper which was relatively easy. A lot of out of class writing. If you want to learn, then Dr. Harrison is a good choice.

I took him during the summer the first time, I coudn't finish my research paper on time to turn in, but I take him again in the Fall semester. I thought he was very helpful if you show him that you try very hard to work on any of your papers. He will work with you as much as you needed (during his conference hour of course).

Wow what a jerk and very hard but you will come out knowing how to write a paper. He probably has never given an A in his entire career however if you can pass his class you can pass any English class.

I haven't been in his class long enough to tell you whether or not he grades the essays tough. But in the few classes I have been in I have learned more than all my english teachers in high school taught. So far I love his enthusiasm.

I hadn't heard reviews of any of the English profs, so I picked Harrison at random for summer school this year. I'm glad that I did, because he's helpful... much more so than my previous teacher from high school ever was. Yay for Dr. Harrison.

Very informed teacher. I took Comp1 had an average of one essay per week I attended the summer course. Very helpful and encouraging. Looks down upon skipping, but gives attempts to help epople keep up in class

Dr. Harrison is tough but extremely helpful. I took both comp 1 and 2 over the summer. As long as you go to class and aren't afraid to ask questions you'll do great. Oh, and if he asks a question and you don't know the answer TELL him that you don't know....he appreciates when you actually communicate with him :)

He is a really good teacher...but if you're not willing to take a few hours out of the week to practice your writing skills and go to his office to check your work, you won't do well. I got an VERY hard earned B, but it was well worth it. IF you take him PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE your writing skills with him and you will do good!

Harrison was a great choice! He is a great teacher!! He actually takes time to thoroughly correct your papers. He was a lot of work, but in the long run a great choice!

I took Dr. Harrison's class last summer and absolutely loved it. He's genuinely nice and incredibly helpful. He sits down with you for every paper and runs through your outlines and such. Getting an A is difficult, though. You'll likely earn a B unless you've got a light load that semester or are naturally talented in English. Take his class!

If youre majoring in english this is a good guy to take from. If you like to read CS Lewis or Tolkien he has much knowledge there. Take from him at least once. Its a hard class but its worth it. Dont turn in work late even if he seems to be letting people get by with it, it might bite you in the ass later(warning!). He is fair,hard,great.Take him.

Harrison will help you a lot like everyone has said you just have to make an effort. I do not recommend taking him unless you are a English major. He will critique every sentence in your papers, and will not miss anything. It is up to you to make appointments with him basically every week and be ahead of him on papers.

Dr Harrison is a valuable resource at San Jacinto. He is easily the most intelligent person I've ever met. Unfortunately, that makes his class one of the hardest I've ever taken. I think that his knowledge is priceless, I just hope I can actually pass the class.

Dr. Harrison is a very knowledgeable professor who expects a lot from his students. You must read the book and be prepared for class discussions. The class was very hard, but I learned how to write at at a much better level.Appointments with him + writing center are a necessity. You will become a better writer if you put the effort to do so.

Alright look folks, I understand that Mr. Harrison is an extremely hard professor and I know that it's inconceivable that he would actually require you to work hard...but guess what? That's life! He gives you and EXACT copy of how he wants the papers done, I don't understand why people complain about him. Yes he's hard, so study then!

His class is a little tough but you definitely have to apply yourself. This is not a class to slack off in. You have to work hard in there to receive an A (VERY rare) or a B. Your grades come from 3 or 4 essays, a research paper & a final & thats it. You'll definitely know how to write when you're done taking his class. He's a very smart man & he's willing to help. You'll definitely know what's going on in the world because he'll keep you updated lol.

All of you who said these bad things about Dr Harrison obviously haven't been challenged in English. When I took his class this past Fall semester I was thinking "What did I get in to?" but you know what, by the end of the semester I came out of his class knowing so much more. I love Dr Harrison. Dr. Harrison is very intelligent and well informed about English. I enjoyed attending his class. DO NOT take his class if you are a lazy, unmotivated procrastinator. I took basic, 1301, 1302, American Lit etc. A c plus was the best I could do. So why did I rate him so high, two reasons. First I made near perfect grades in research papers in my other classes at U of H. A friend of mine just started college and asked me to rate his final paper. He had never heard of Strunk and White. Extremely intelligent.
