Big mistake taking it Credit/ no credit. Too easy for that

I hated this class to death, fell asleep all the time and the lectures just suck

Very easy if you go to class. Has a web site to check for homework if you do not go to class. I took the class credit/no credit and could have taken it for a garde. When I went to class I gotA's on the test and when I dodn't go I got C's.

Interesting if you like History. Attendance is required and needed to pass the tests. Don't waste your money on the books...you will NEVER use them.

Very interesting class. Used powerpoint for his lectures. IF you take notes and stay awake you will get at least a C+, if you study the notes easily a B

Nice guy, always available to help. His tests are Multiple Choice and easy, gives a study guide that really helps.

tests are straight from notes, but there is LOTS of memorization....and really, who cares about archaeology? Hard time focusing.

Archeaology is boring but you can tell he loves it. The best thing is the review sessions for tests. They take my C-'s to B-'s. I recommend them. But even with them I'm only getting high C's and low B's. Lots of material!

He is helpful if you ask for it and he does appear to want you to do good. He will help if you ask and leave you alone if you don't.

it's a great class if you like that sort of thing. if you don't, don't take the class, or just don't **** about it! he will help you if you ask.

Class isn't too bad, if you plan on going to class, don't buy the books.

Kind of a grandfatherly-type. Can be boring if the subject is not one you are interested in, but if you like anthro he's an interesting and helpful prof. Quizzes can be difficult if you don't attend the review sessions, but if you do attend they are easy!

he certainly knows his stuff- and expects you to know it too! really nice guy-he will help you if you ask. i would go to different sections all the time and he was very patient about looking for missing quizzes, essays, etc. lots of writing though :(

Lemme tell ya, you better STUDY...hard! His class was very challenging for a 100-Level course, but he was helpful, and there were many things he graded on, such as simply going to an on-campus museum, whiich made the difficult tests harder. Also fun to learn about cocaine's homeland & Myan sex!

He is really into the topics and I wasnt at all at first but he made it really interesting. Dont buy the books.. you will not use them. Just go to class and pay attention and you should do fine. The test questions come directly from lecture.

Hastings is a great teacher. If you go to class and pay attention than you'll do fine on the tests. You don't need the books. He has very reasonable expectations for the writing assignments which are easy if you pay attention in class. I would glady take him again.

If you go to class and take notes, you will have no problem passing this class. Yeah you have to write some papers, but those are easy. He is a good guy and he wants you to learn. I enjoyed the class a lot, even though at first i thought it would be bad.

to sum up this guy in one word i would choose "anal." this was one of the hardest U.P. class i have taken. I don't advised that you miss class because he doesn't post all of his notes on his website. His tests are very hard and he grades his papers critically. I got a B but it didn't come easy.

If some of you actually thought this class was difficult I would advise dropping out of college right now and saving some money. This was the easiest class I have ever taken. All the tests are multi-choice and no essay. Papers were even easier. I never even bought the damned books.

Tough class. Assigned 3 essays which were hard to get an A on. Test's were not easy, even if you took time on the study guide. Otherwise, an enjoyable person and very enthusiastic about the subject.

He Is my favorite professor so far. Very energetic about his topic. Don't miss class thou or it will be hard to catch up. If you attend class tests and essays are very easy. I barely studied and got a B+. Hastings is an awsome teacher. I recommened this teacher to everyone.

He's definitely got an obscure sense of humor that a lot of people won't think is funny unless you are into Anthro. The class is really easy as long as you take notes. He puts all the overheads on his website, but I would reccomend only using those in addition to your notes from class.

this is a very easy class. Just study the notes and you will get an A. Very clear in his directions.

This Teacher rocks my world. He has the appearance of a true Archaeologist, and his awesome jokes reflect it. I would let this man rear my childern and create a clone army of archaeologists

While it is true you need to go to class and do most of the reading, if you do this, you should do fairly well. The tests were pretty straight forward if you had put some time into it. He can be boring, but taking notes should keep you awake.

Must go to EVERY class. Notes from class are all you need for tests. Lots of pop quizzes but as long as you took the notes they are easy. Prof makes the class interesting, I didn't mind his long lectures and found the class interesting. Great teacher, very informative. Tests aren't too bad, study your notes and his detailed study guides.

Wonderful teacher, funny, wants you to learn. Lectures long but with jokes and visual aides. Hastings makes Archaeology fun. Great class, great teacher.

The material isn't the most interesting stuff ever, but Hastings makes it fun. He lectures a lot, but if you pay attention and take notes you'll do fine. The quizzes and tests are easy as long as you look over your notes once or twice beforehand. There are a lot of visual aids and the class is actually pretty interesting. I'd recommend him for sure

Wonderful teacher and class. Very easy to pass if you go to class. DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOKS for the 'assigned readings' I never bought a book and ended up with an A. Hastings makes the class fun, even though it is an 8:00am class. Highly recommended.

Very good class if you have any interest at all in archaeology. Hastings is a good guy and he means really well, but he can get very boring and monotone. The book was the biggest waste of money in my college career to date. The tests are simple and it's very easy in all aspects. I would recommend this U.P. to anyone.

Dr. Hastings is a great teacher. He is always willing to help. He basically begs for people to go to his office hours. Some of these student comments are not accurate. If you slack you won't do well but if you try you will do just fine. Don't be a lazy. Also, don't buy the book. I never read a page and got an A+. He curves grades too!

He is a decent guy, tries to be funny, occasionally is. He says you need the book, NOPE. But, he also says that the questions on exams are straight forward, NOPE. You MUST study a lot which is sort of lame for a U.P. Very date/time period intensive on the exams. Overall, i F-ing hated the class but you should get an A/B if you come to class.

Class consists of lectures and random pop quizzes. The exams are tricky in that the questions are long and wordy. Definitely study A LOT prior to exams. Grade is based off 5 exams, one university event and random quizzes. Hastings is a nice guy, but the class can get boring and requires a lot of work for a 100 level class.

You have to really like the subject to do well in his class. I was really into it, so I did fairly well. But if you don't like what you're learning I think his lectures would get pretty boring pretty fast. He was really really helpful though, loved to hear input, and wasn't biased about it.
